Speaker 1 (00:09):
Hi, you doing everybody. I'm Ken Bikoff and welcome to
the Peaks postgame Live. Indiana sixty three to ten winners
over the Fighting ALLIONI at Memorial Stadium according to IU,
fifty six eighty eight fans here, which is a new
program record for attendance for a home game. Just just

(00:32):
absolutely hammered the ALIGNI every step of the way. It's
the numbers are video game numbers. Kobe Martin twelve carries
one hundred and seven yards, two touchdowns. Kaylon Black ten
carries eighty nine yards, he scored a touchdown for Nando
Mendoza twenty one to twenty three two sixty seven and

(00:53):
five touchdowns. That's ten touchdown passes in two games. Elijah
Surat ninety two carries rather nine catches for ninety two yards,
a couple of touchdowns. Omar Cooper six catches seventy eight yards.
Just an amazing job. And Indiana just dominated this thing.
And I can tell you right now, Fritz Signetti knows

(01:14):
his history and he knows who the guy was on
the other other bench, and I feel like a lot
of you probably do too. See. Brett Bilma was the
head coach at Wisconsin when Indiana lost eighty three to
twenty Bill Lynch's last year here, and this little payback
felt pretty good. I ain't gonna lie. This was a
special one. It won two three, nine three. Twenty six

(01:38):
hundred is the number we have our first caller. Caller,
if I could have your name, where you're from.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
And what you got, Hey, Dan, it's whaling Fromentmanville here
with my dad, Darren, and we got something to say
to you. Okay, Indiana, Indiana absolutely feed down today. It
was not even a game. We had one of our
friends that went to the game with us and left

(02:05):
in the third quarter because he was tired of watching it.
I mean, what can you say about that? I mean
just an absolute beat down.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Yeah, and in every way, shape and form, this thing
wasn't close at all. And uh and again last year
we did these shows and I really struggled sometimes to
kind of, uh, you know, nitpick the Hoosiers. And I
got nothing to nitpick him on tonight. I mean, in
one of the biggest home games in Indiana history, certainly

(02:35):
in Memorial Stadium history, Indiana showed up and they showed
up big.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
And I'm saying, Fernando right read on almost every play.
I mean he was he was not. I'm just thinking
and duncan. He was making the fit read, you know.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
And making the good reads. Jared Kelly from peaks dot
Com made the point that a lot of the yards
at Mendoza was picking up was on runs after the catch.
And that's fine, you know, that's uh the forty three
yard er Nowakowski on a screen. You know, you had
a couple of really nice runs by Cooper and Sarrant.

(03:16):
But the bottom line is he was giving them the
ball in a place to do something with it. It
wasn't just completions. It was accuracy that allowed his receivers
to do something after they made the catch.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
Put it on their numbers and let them go to work.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
Right, absolutely, absolutely. Eight one two, three, nine three, twenty
six hundred is the number. Colors, did you have more? No,
that's all, man, have a good night, all right, good
night saken again. Eight one two, three, nine three, twenty
six hundred is the number. Go ahead and give us

(03:50):
a call, or if you're in the Memorial Stadium parking lot.
I'm sitting out here next to the Tennis Center. I
got a light on me and canopy. I'm easy to
find one of the people over here waving a towel. Josh,
he's waving a towel over here. We got some dancing.

(04:12):
It was a hell of an atmosphere here at a
Memorial Stadium tonight, to say the least. When you look
at the numbers that are involved here, it's absolutely crazy.
Again Mendoza twenty one to twenty three, two sixty seven
and five touchdowns. And this started right from the start.
I mean, Illinois tried to play tempo early and IU

(04:34):
didn't flex. They took it and they kept on going.
Who's your strike first?

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Too?

Speaker 1 (04:40):
When Dangelo Pond's blocks a punt scoops and scores, and
Matt Weaver from peaks dot com he made the comment
in the press box, you know, when you have an
All American quarterback blocking punts on special teams, that's buy in.
And there ain't no question that that was the case
when you have that. It was a first punt block
for a touchdown in a couple of years. Illinois temple tempo,

(05:02):
which it seemed that they tried to learn what happened
against Kennesas State and decided to go ahead and try
to run a little bit of tempo caused a little
bit of confusion that led to Illinoi's first touchdown fifty
nine yard touchdown pass. The Colin Dixon safeties didn't communicate
that's something that I know that sig will go ahead
and pay attention for. But that was it. That was it.

(05:24):
Illinois was blitzing a lot early and I you adjusted
on the fly with quick passes. Unlike you know Indiana
teams that we've seen in the past, they didn't wait
to halftime to make that adjustment. And it was that
that decision by Kurt Signetti to go for it on
fourth down in the first quarter right about midfield, had

(05:45):
showed the confidence he had in his defense, the confidence
in he had in his offense to pick up their
three feet and they got the first down and that
led to the second touchdown, and that really opened the
faucet on Illinois two three nine three twenty six hundred.
We got another collar caller. If I could have your name,
where you're from, and what you got.

Speaker 5 (06:06):
Hey, there, my name is Austin from the region northwest Indiana.
I'm a current student here at I You.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
I just wanted to bring up Wait a second, Austin,
what part of the region, Crown Point. I'm from Mayrville.
See region rats everywhere.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
Oh here we go.

Speaker 6 (06:23):
I'd love to hear that.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Well.

Speaker 5 (06:24):
No, I just wanted to bring up, you know, there
were a lot of overrated chans towards Illinois, you know,
and a lot of the fans were saying.

Speaker 4 (06:32):
You know, Illinois sucks and whatnot.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
We heard all week how great their defense was. I
think it's more of a testimony to how great our
offense is and how great preparing the school, preparing the
team to come out and get a great atmosphere for
the players themselves, and then prepared that offense going stomp
on that defense. So I just wanted to say, you knows,
Illinois they're a good team, and they came out and

(06:56):
gave them everything they had, but we're just that much done.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
You know, our offense is.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
That good well, and the offensive line just just absolutely
overwhelmed Illinois. That's how Indiana was able to run for
three hundred plus yards. And then that you had Indiana's
defense that was just fantastic. I mean they were in
the backfield at the snap over and over and over again.
I haven't looked Let's see, what is the uh was

(07:22):
the total for defense here in terms of sacks. Indiana's
seven sacks on the night they spent the whole yeah,
the whole afternoon in in in the backfield, and is
just unbelievable, just fantastic, absolutely well.

Speaker 4 (07:37):
I appreciate you taking my call.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
Thank you, thanks so much. Appreciate it. Yeah, eight one, two, three,
nine three, twenty six hundred is the number. Uh, you know,
Russell says, bring back the intern. Jeff says, ken, what
does the intern think? The intern thought that Lewis Moore
should have caught the pick six that went through his hands,
but he did appreciate the sack after I got a

(08:00):
text message there, and that's something that we need to
talk about real quick before we get to another caller.
But this is an Indiana team that puts sixty three
points up on Illinois and dropped two probable pick sixes,
So it could have been a lot worse, and that
means a lot more fun for IU fans. Got a

(08:20):
next caller, color if you have your name, where you're from,
and what you.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Got Jared Peaks dot com.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
How are you, hey, Jared Kelly, how you doing?

Speaker 4 (08:30):
How are you? I'm good, I'm good. I got done
with critic Denny's postgame press conference. Obviously a lot for
him to feel good about coming out of this one.
Uh sixty three points. Man, I know you've been around
a long time, Ken, this is this is something.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yeah, this was special. There's no question this was special.
With sig in the press conference and as soon as
you guys get it up, I'll go ahead and I'll
play it on here. But what was kind of his attitude?
What did he have to say about the game.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Yeah, you know, this is a pretty much into Signetti.
You know, never too high and never too low. There
was a couple of national reporters in there who tried
to prod him a little bit on you know, what
kind of statement does this make for Indiana? Things like that,
and Signetti's kind of kind of stepped over those questions
a little bit to toe around him. But you know,
deep down in Signetti's mind, you know this has to
feel good for him, right He's he's heard all the

(09:20):
talk about this, you know, Illinois being this year, is
Indiana all that kind of stuff. He's not stupid, He's
heard all that stuff, you know, and internally, going into
this week, I kind of felt I got that vibe
Swignetti as well. You know, he's never going to vocalize
that such kind of stuff publicly, but I would not
be surprised if he used that kind of stuff in
the locker room, you know, as part of a motivation

(09:42):
for Indiana this week. And you know it was really
business as usual, but sixty three points against top ten teams,
most most points by a Big ten team against an
eighteen top ten team ever. You know, Kurtzegnetti said he
was gonna go crack a beer last week. He might
crack a couple tonight.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Yeah, I would hope so. And he certainly deserved it
with the way that his team put things together five
hundred and seventy nine yards of total offense Mendoza twenty
one to twenty three for two sixty seven and five touchdowns.
And I was mentioned earlier before you call about how
you were talking about the job that Indiana's receivers did
in yards after the catch. Just you your thoughts in

(10:22):
that receiving core and what they were able to do
one hundred and eighty six yards after the catch. That's
one hundred and eighty six out of the two sixty seven.
Your thoughts on just the job they did collectively.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
Yeah, truly incredible. Yeah. I remember I didn't know that
to you in the in the press box because it
was like Mendoza had all these huge passing numbers at
halftime going in the third quarter, you know, and you
look at it and it's like, well, Indiana's receivers were
a big part of that. And not just that. I
thought Indiana's play calling tonight, both out of the ball,
Brian Haynes, Mike Shanahan, I thought both of them called
brilliant games and start to finish, Mike Tanahan especially some

(10:56):
of those you know, we saw that Riley noil Kalfi
was at forty three yard touchdown. He basically went untouched
into the end zone on just a simple tight end screen.
Little things like that to get Veranda Mendoza in rhythm,
to get the receivers on the same page as him.
So I thought Channahan called a great game. And then,
like you mentioned, the explosive plays, the different kind of
you know, playmaking that Indiana got all across the board.

(11:17):
I honestly didn't expect that because I wasn't sure you know,
Illinois talent level wives obviously a huge step up from
when what Indiana has played this year. You know, but
to see Omar Cooper, you know, be able to explode
past Illinois secondary like he did, like we've seen this year,
to see Elias We're at even go down the sideline
a couple of times. You know, it just shows in
Indiana talent level of wives they can hang. You know,

(11:39):
we'll see what they can hang against the Penn State
and the Oregon's coming up, but you know, they are
solidly there in that upper tier.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Now they the whole idea that they had questions to
answer because of you know, there's a lot of people
that don't didn't believe in Indiana coming out and turning
in this kind of performance. How do you think this
might change the view of Indiana as a at on
anational level.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Well, for one, I hope the national media doesn't spend
it like they did last year when Indiana beat the Washington, Michigan, Nebraska,
those kind of teams, you know, because when Indiana, let's
not forget when Indiana beat them, it was those teams
were never that good. H You know, I came into
this year I was kind of a doubter about Illinois
and their top ten ranking and all this preseason hype,

(12:27):
you know, and I even said that as much, you know,
whether it's on the board on you know, in the
podcast with me and Matt that we do each week.
You know, I said, I didn't think Illinois was a
you know, a top ten team, you know, but but
let's let you know, let's let's not forget like Illinois
returned what was a twenty twenty out of a twenty
two starters from last year something like that. Like, this
is a veteran team. You know. Obviously they didn't have

(12:48):
the talent to match with Indiana tonight. They had a
ton of secondary injuries in the secondary to night. That
didn't help either. But this is a veteran team. They
went to the Citrus Bowl last year. They beat South
Carolina in the Citrus Bowl. You know, Brett Belmo is
a good coach. Obviously they didn't fill on the field tonight.
But you know, this only team is good and I
don't know how far they're going to go this year.
They certainly did not look like a CFT team tonight,

(13:10):
but you know, hopefully down the road in Illinois, you know,
assuming they could still rack up some wins here this
is gonna look like a really really solid win. You know,
come come CFT talk time.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
So the atmosphere in Bloomington and at Memorial Stadium for
this game, Uh, your your thoughts on just the fans,
the entire atmosphere, everything that went into this game on
a Saturday night. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
Look, I mean, well, like fifteen minutes before the game started, Uh,
you know, we're still waiting for the Bison to run
out onto the field, for Indiana to come out of
the tunnel.

Speaker 7 (13:43):
I was.

Speaker 4 (13:44):
I was standing up in the press box and are
just kind of taking it all in. Yeah. I wanted
to see the whole lay of the land in the
stadium and just you know, and I remember, you know,
we talked about this. This is you know one of
those moments where one of those nights where you kind
of look around and you say, you know, take it,
take a mental snapshot, because we've never even going back
to last year right with Nebraska. Yeah, I was missing
in those those kind of night games like that. Those

(14:06):
were big games because but it felt like more you know,
sweeting in those moments, whereas this game had the month
long build up, everything that went into it, and it's like, Okay,
We're finally here, you know, we can see everything, and
it just felt like a crowd that was ready to explode.
And obviously Indiana game with a ton to cheer for Tonite.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Yeah, the fans showed up in a very big way
and uh, it just it just made it did make
for a memorable night. Plus the drone show at halftime
was fantastic. Yeah, that was amazing. And uh, you know,
and real quick before we let you go, this Indiana
defense didn't give up a point last week, didn't give

(14:44):
up a point, a touchdown to Kennesaw State. They give
up one touchdown to Illinois, and now we're talking about
three games in three games in the season. Uh, well,
through the four games, Indiana has given up three touchdowns
in four games, all of them on a bit on
a big play, a big chunk playe just your thoughts

(15:06):
on this defense and the job that they've done, even
if they they did give up the one fifty nine
yard touchdown.

Speaker 4 (15:14):
Yeah, I mean, going into this week, I had I
had a good feeling about Indiana defensively, just because you know,
we saw Illinois struggle in the first three three weeks,
you know, and those weren't superior teams Duke, because you know,
has to turn out to be all that great Western
Michigan you know, westerron On obviously a tier below, and
they still struggle to give up pressures against them. And
the more I looked at Illinois and sort of their

(15:36):
underlying numbers, I'm like, you know, we saw what Indiana's
defensive line did last year, and while it hasn't you know,
it's been sort of slow burned with the defensive line
this year. I felt like Brian Haynes and and Taccoons
and those those coaches were going to get the guys
right tonight, especially against the Illinois offensive line that that
it really has trouble to consistency issues this year, you know,
and we saw it tonight, like a huge shout out

(15:58):
to Mario Landino, Tyree Tucker, guys whose names don't get
called a lot, you know in the spot like that is.
But both those guys at two facts two CFL, the
whole defensive line I thought played really, really well. Uh
And I made a note of this, like there was
a point in the game, even like my halftime where
I loosed out of the amount of times I saw

(16:18):
Illinois offensive linemen on their backs. Yeah, in Indiana defensive
lineman just seam all over them. It was it was
cruey impressive and I'm not sure there's there's there's enough
adjective to describe how how Indiana man handled them at
the line of scrimmage.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
Well, it's a fantastic game, is Jared Kelly from peagues
dot com. Be sure to check out all of his
coverage on peakus dot com. He's gonna have a ton
along with Matt Weaver and Jeff rab Johnson. Jared, thank
you so much for giving me a call, and uh,
you know, hopefully, you know, we'll get to enjoy some
more of these in the near future.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
Yeah, thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
Ken appreciate it. Height one, two, three, nine, three, twenty
six hundred is the number in the chat. Jason said,
I loved every minute of the game, but I'm still
scared that our defense is suspect of the big play.
Got to get that figured out. If a team can
get it once, they're able to get it again, hopefully
they will be able to clean that up. Some of

(17:14):
it and those bad touchdown was created off of some
confusion with some lack of communication between the defensive backs.
That's something that does have to get cleaned up for sure.
We got another caller call it if I can have
your name, where you're from, and what you got.

Speaker 8 (17:32):
My name is Jacob Radkey from a Guessa, Georgia, and
my question for you is where does this win rank in.

Speaker 9 (17:40):
I use of all history?

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Ah, good question. I mean you're talking about the couple
of Ohio State game wins in the eighties, so.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
Yeah, that was on the scene.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Okay, those those games were huge. The Penn State win
in twenty twenty was a big one because it was
a big boost for this program, but sadly there were
no fans there for that one. You're talking about the
Rose Bowl win over Purdue that sent Indiana to the
Rose Bowl in sixty seven. Other than that, Look, this

(18:13):
is an Indiana team that has seven total wins against
top ten teams in its history, and this is only
the third one to happen in Bloomington, and it was
Penn State. It was a win in sixty seven and
this one, and look, Indiana just beat a top ten

(18:34):
team by the biggest margin, not just in program history,
but in the history of the Big Ten. It's a
huge win and it's such a huge boost for this program,
especially with so many visitors here today too, not fans,
but recruits were here to see all of this. Yeah,
and so that is really huge.

Speaker 8 (18:57):
Yeah, huge on the recruiting, Kraill, so huge everywhere. I mean,
I've been following Indiana since we couldn't win a bucket
game for thirteen years straight.

Speaker 4 (19:07):
So yeah, it's a huge win. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (19:12):
I just I hope the eight people and all the
polls out there see it the same way and not
just give value the finger like they usually do.

Speaker 1 (19:20):
Well, you know what, don't worry too much about the rankings.
They you know, they won't be as high as it
you'll want them to be. But if Indiana they just
keep on rolling along, you know, at some point you
can't ignore what's happening anymore.

Speaker 4 (19:32):
One percent.

Speaker 1 (19:33):
Yeah, well, I appreciate the call, Thank you so much. Yep,
thanks a lot. Eight one, two, three, nine, three, twenty
six hundred is the number I'm I'm exciting, excited to
uh to every single week I get to play this.

Speaker 7 (19:49):
Yeah, it's pretty simple. I win.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
Google me fifteen and two. Them's the facts kids, fifteen
and two. Another caller, if you want to call, lines
are open. Eight one two three nine three twenty six
hundred is the number. Somebody with an eight four to
seven nine one seven number called and dropped out because
I was talking to Jared. Call back if you want,

(20:12):
I'll get you on right away. Call her the new caller.
I'd like your name, where you're from, and what you got.

Speaker 5 (20:20):
I'm Marty and I'm about two hundred feet to you.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Right Hello, party, Barty. How you doing for you?

Speaker 5 (20:26):
Pretty good?

Speaker 4 (20:27):
I just got three words for you.

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Belt a belt to ass yes, sir, good night, good night.
There you go. They said they were going to do that.
I appreciate that call.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
It's awesome.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
There's a microphone here at Memorial Stadium. You don't have
to be shy. I'm out here doing it. I could
go ahead and turn the camera and put her on
my wife too, but she she would not be happy
with me. C W talked about on the chat, talks
about the types of communication breakdowns happen in the NFELL
all the time. They do, and I understand why it
raises eyebrows because we're IU fans and so we're terrified

(21:06):
things are going to go poorly. But Hurt says on
the chat, can we start discussing next week, carries how
we feel about an Iowa team that just gave up
twenty eight. Winning on the road in the Big Ten
is a challenge, but it is something that this team
don't I don't doubt that they have that ability to

(21:27):
do that. It'll be interesting. Got another caller if you
want to be a part of this Eight one, two, three,
nine three, twenty six hundred is the number caller. If
I can have your name, where you're from, and what
you got. We just lost him. He just bounced. That's unfortunate.

(21:50):
Call back eight four seven four oh four number call back.
I want to hear from you. Meghan says We're still
gonna have to beat High State, Penn State, or Oregon
UH to UH make the playoffs. Oh, by the way,
Mike Merritt go bears the dirty dirty Packers fan walking

(22:11):
by me. Megott says we're gonna have to beat Ohio State,
Penn State, or Oregon to make the playoffs, probably two
of them. Is this team better than last year's We
don't play Ohio State, which has somebody mentioned that on
the UH chat, But yeah, you got you gotta win
one of the main teams to to get back and

(22:33):
approve to everybody that you're for real and that's fine.
You know, that's part of the equation. You have to
be able to beat the teams that are in front
of you.

Speaker 10 (22:42):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
Kurt Signetti has been the IU head coach for seventeen games.
He's won fifteen of them. The two that he's lost
to is Ohio State Notre Dame, and winning at Iowa
next week will be really important. It's gonna be really
key to where this team is going to. Uh, just
reception of the team, so it's it's gonna be really important.

(23:04):
And somebody made the point by the way that Indiana
scored thirty five points in the first half against Illinois tonight.
The basketball team last year in the first half in
their game here at Assembly Hall, I can think they
scored thirty two. So football outscored basketball against Illinois tonight.
It was beautiful. Jason also mentions the commitment that Darren

(23:28):
Devrees got today from point guard from the class to
twenty twenty seven. A huge commitment on from top thirty
five class of twenty twenty seven prospect Chase Branham. That's
a go. We're gonna have a lot of time to
talk about him and I love the fact that he's
a junior. May reclassify there's a little bit of talk

(23:51):
about that, but the fact of the matter is he
commits to Indiana during his official visit and it's a
huge pick up for the Hoosiers. To say the least
eight one, two, three, nine, three, twenty six d is
the number. Lines are open. As we head towards the
midnight hour, going to try to pull up the audio

(24:17):
from hurt Signetti. Let's see if I can do that.
See if I'm smart enough to do that. I think
I might be able to do just that. All right,
let's take a shot at this. Hopefully it'll work.

Speaker 7 (24:35):
Okay. It was a great night for Indiana. Hoosier fans.

Speaker 11 (24:39):
Stadium was plopping, really proud of the team.

Speaker 7 (24:43):
A dominant performance.

Speaker 11 (24:46):
The pump block got us going, then we busted a
coverage on their touchdown, and then we made a lot.

Speaker 7 (24:51):
Of explosive plays pressure to quarterback.

Speaker 11 (24:54):
I think we sacked in seven times and really just
tried to get out of the game. Is shortened the
game at the end and really kind of broke their will.

Speaker 7 (25:00):
I think.

Speaker 11 (25:02):
So it's a great win and you know, proud of
the coaches and proud of the players.

Speaker 7 (25:06):
I think we've gotten a lot better last two weeks.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
I mean, do you feel you mentioned this dominant performance
against a top ten opponent will silence some of the
critics that you guys have heard about last nine months
that have attributed your past success to this guy.

Speaker 11 (25:21):
You know, I don't control that, only control the development
of our football team. I felt very confident about this
game going in based on what I saw on film,
and you know, there's a lot of football left to
be played.

Speaker 12 (25:33):
Exactly, uh, Kurt Last year, Curtis had a kind of
a similar game in his.

Speaker 7 (25:39):
Big ten debut. Just what did you think of Fernando Tonight?

Speaker 10 (25:42):
As efficient as he was obviously, five touchdown passes kind
of speaks for Yeah.

Speaker 11 (25:46):
I thought he took a major step forward last week
and then again this week, and really had a lot
of confidence in him going into the game.

Speaker 7 (25:53):
I think he's made.

Speaker 11 (25:54):
His progress has really accelerated the last couple of weeks,
and you know, I thought he was right on right
on target.

Speaker 7 (26:03):
And what I.

Speaker 11 (26:05):
Really liked about the team is the way they play
every play, one play at a time, and first play
the last play the game, regardless of the circumstances.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
You know that to me, that's key the.

Speaker 12 (26:14):
Drill coach you mentioned. You mentioned the seven sacks. Obviously,
I know you guys brought some pressure, but your defensive
line really physically whipped them tonight. Just talk about the
job those guys didn't. Just the whole defensive front getting
pressure and slotting down an offense that had been scoring
a lot of points.

Speaker 11 (26:32):
You know, That's what I saw on tape too. Uh,
you know, and I thought our defensive line could whip
their offensive line and we did. And they came out
and played with tempo early and give them time to throw.
He's going to get the ball where it's.

Speaker 7 (26:46):
Got to go.

Speaker 11 (26:47):
And uh, but you know, I think the sacks were huge.
The block punt got us going, and then they couldn't
stop us. They couldn't match up on the perimeter, and
then you know, we broke their will and just pounded them.
And uh, he's a good quarterback, but you know he

(27:08):
took a lot of sacks last year too.

Speaker 7 (27:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 13 (27:14):
On Mendoza, his ability to make quick decisions and then
accurate throws, where does that come from?

Speaker 7 (27:20):
And how much of a luxury is that?

Speaker 11 (27:24):
Well, you know, physical attributes. He's got a quick whip,
strong arm, accurate mobile. The biggest thing when he came
to us was working with him in the pocket and
the drop back game, being a little bit more patient,
poised going through his progressions. A lot of this stuff
is rpo stuff with us and in this game too,

(27:47):
because we thought there were some things there we could
take advantage of.

Speaker 4 (27:51):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (27:52):
You know, I think he's got a tremendous upside, and
he prepares. He's a tremendous person. He will do everything
he can to be the best he can be. It
means a lot to him. He wants to be great,
and he's made great progress the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 12 (28:13):
Yeah, Kurt over here, I know every year is different,
but what type of message do you think you guys
have said about where this program is and what you
guys can be this season?

Speaker 11 (28:21):
I don't know, you know, I mean, you guys control
all that stuff. I just got to get him ready,
you know, and then we all play our games and
see where it shakes out at the end of the year.

Speaker 7 (28:32):
You know, you know, I want to, but I'm not.

Speaker 14 (28:46):
I wanted to ask you about your running game. I mean,
what twelve yards against a team that traditionally does a
good job against the run. How are you able to
continuously pound at Illinois?

Speaker 7 (28:59):
Yeah, it's a mental.

Speaker 11 (29:00):
I mean, you know, our guys are, we're tied in together.
We don't talk a lot. You know, we're pretty much
we hit the field. It's all business, you know. I
know I stirred things up last year media wise because
I felt like I had to, you know, the place
was fan base was dead and needed to set some expectations.

(29:22):
But you know, we kind of go about our business
kind of a blue collar outfit, and I think there
was a point in that game where we broke their will.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
A coach on the drive following their touchdown, Uh, you
ran the punt team out.

Speaker 7 (29:38):
They called time out.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
Yeah, what was the chess match?

Speaker 7 (29:41):
There was it?

Speaker 4 (29:42):
You were going to punt.

Speaker 11 (29:44):
I think they had twelve on the field. We threw
the punt team out there. I was a little torn
on what to do and then uh kind of had
a da jevo of about fourteen years ago once that happened,
and we elected to go for it at that point
and converted, And that.

Speaker 7 (30:00):
Was pretty big play. You know.

Speaker 11 (30:02):
There were some special couple of special teams plays there,
the block punt, that play, and then there was a
third one. I can't recall what it was exactly. Oh,
they had another penalty on a punt. I think that
negated I don't know, I can't remember, but that one.
You know, after I thought a little bit more about it,

(30:22):
we felt like we had a good play and it worked.

Speaker 12 (30:28):
Kurt, with the way you guys ran the ball tonight
and the amount of time Fernando had to work with,
just how would you assess the offensive line play tonight
and how much potential that group has going forward?

Speaker 11 (30:37):
I mean, you know potential this and that. You know,
it's what you put on tape, and you know, I
felt really good about our line coming into season. We've
got some really good players there. They reflect kind of
the personality of their coach Bob. They're tough guys, they're
gritty guys, and you know, they've been playing well, and

(31:00):
you know, I expect them to continue to get better
and play well.

Speaker 13 (31:06):
Yeah, you guys had I think it was six tackles
for loss on their first five possessions, finished with ten
tackles for loss seventh sactions. Why was the pressure so effected?

Speaker 11 (31:17):
I mean, put the Duke game on the same thing happened.
The difference in that game was, you know, Duke turned
it over five times. They got to them right off
the bat beginning the game four or five times. And
you know, I thought we could too.

Speaker 12 (31:38):
You'd mentioned the strides y'all made last week and out there, where.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Have you seen the largest leap so far?

Speaker 11 (31:45):
Based on what we're putting on the field, you know,
from beginning end the way we're playing in all three phases,
and there's no let up in these guys.

Speaker 4 (31:58):
Kurt.

Speaker 15 (31:58):
I know you talked about for at his growth, but
there was a particular play in which he went through
all of his progressions but still never gave up bout
Elijah Crati who was just hanging on the sidelines, and
that was a key key play there. How much growth
does that really show what he's since he got here?

Speaker 11 (32:13):
Well, you know, positive performance, confidence, belief and then becomes
a cycle and seeing it with all these other quarterbacks
and you know, he's probably got more physical ability than
he does than all the other ones.

Speaker 7 (32:30):
And you know, I think Chandler's doing.

Speaker 11 (32:32):
A great job with him too, and I like the
way it's going in the game planning sessions and you know,
kind of playing the last two games. So and Fernando's
the kind of guy that he won't get big headed.
You know, He's going to keep his nose to the grindstone,
do a great job preparing and continue to improve.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Eight one, two, three, nine, three, twenty six hundred is
the number. And Russell says, I think a lot more
than two guys here. You hear their names called in
April talking about playing on Sundays, and you know what, Uh,
you have guys that are playing at this kind of level.
It does make a huge difference in in just the
perception of the program. Just there were a ton a

(33:19):
ton of NFL scouts here today and that was great,
uh to see. You know, we have somebody else on
the chat said, how great it is that we're talking
about IU football, you know at midnight? Kurt says, can
we relish? And how awesome it is to be celebrating
IU football at midnight on a Saturday. Yeah. Today was
one giant party, including Mike Kdick in the uh, one

(33:44):
of the sweets on the field, ripping his shirt off,
chugging a beer, getting the crowd going. Everybody was having
a ball in the rain, got a caller, caller, if
I can have your name, where you're from, and what you.

Speaker 16 (33:56):
Got, Can you hear me?

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Yeah, I can hear you.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Oh yeah, Michael Hilman. We're driving them. I didn't know
if you watched college game of hilarious, you know everybody
picked Illinois that back of the off you know, Kirk
burbstreak was all about Brett Bielama teams owning the line
of scrimmage and I used.

Speaker 16 (34:21):
It utterly dominated that line of scrimmage.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Here.

Speaker 16 (34:26):
Why how we dominated there?

Speaker 4 (34:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (34:30):
I mean Signetti said that he thought that that was
something that Indiana could do after looking at the uh
at everything and the tape, and I I know that
that is something that uh uh they look to take
advantage of. And Indiana's defensive line completely owned Illinois's offensive line,

(34:50):
and I use offensive line owned Illinois. It was. It
was just a complete domination on both sides of the ball.
And I give Indiana and the coaching staff a lot
of credit for a on uh we're just having a
great game plan and making sure that guys were focused
because they absolutely dominated on both sides of the line.

(35:15):
All right, that's it what that called fantastic eight one, two, three, nine, three,
twenty six hundred is the number we got another color caller.
If I could have your name, where you're from, and
what you got.

Speaker 9 (35:27):
Built in Boston A great game. I mean, I'm a
Bears fan. I can't tell you how fantastic is to
succeeed any type of success on the football field. Unbelievable.
But you know, always I'm really curious as to whether

(35:49):
or not, like in Illinois was over valued the Thames
of the game, because you know, they beat groups but
turned it over like four five. But when I thought,
do just ring it up maybe nor on the state
it out, you look legit, I mean against all lots,

(36:13):
so amazing love it.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
You know you mentioned them being overvalued. Let so Illinois
was bringing back a bunch of starters from the game,
the Bowl winners that they were last year. Repbiel is
their head coach, and obviously the media and other coaches
like the success that he's had. So that high ranking
is a preseason ranking that is there and then they

(36:38):
haven't lost, so there's no excuse to kind of drop
them down. And so part of that in ranking, especially
when it comes to preseason rankings and this early in
the season. A big part of that is reputation, and
I think right today we saw how close reputation is
to reality today because Indiana proved that Illinois was anywhere

(37:00):
near as good as their ranking set.

Speaker 9 (37:04):
Now. And you just cannot bet against Signetti. Just this guy.
Everybody that as long as he has the horse that
got you know, playing on the line, he's gonna outload anybody.

(37:26):
You know, with all due respect.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Yeah, he's done a great job, does an absolutely great job.
Uh And you know, taking a program that was uh,
you know, really not in a good place after Tom
Allen his last year wasn't in a good place. He
hit the ground running and he has no intentions of stopping.
And if he has to keep proving himself over and

(37:50):
over again, if he has to keep making sure that
people understand that IU football is not the old IU football,
he's just gonna keep doing it. And that's why it's
it's so much fun to watch. You You mentioned being
a Bears fan. I'm a Bears fan myself, and I
feel the same way. It's great that we're not watching
the same game on Saturday and Sunday. At least now

(38:11):
there's something fun to watch on Saturdays.

Speaker 9 (38:14):
Well exactly now in all honesty, though many huge because
I'm scared to death of Jame Franklin doesn't win the
big one. They're coming after Big Betty, big time. Oh well,
ten day, God blessed. Yeah. I want Bignetti here for

(38:36):
a long time.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
I will say this much. Kurt Signetti is headed towards
his mid sixties. He has done amazing things here with
this program. And there's the question of do you want
to start over somebody somewhere else, move your family. All
you can do is enjoy the time for the time being,

(38:57):
don't worry about what the future holds. But he is
building something special here at Bloomington.

Speaker 9 (39:03):
No doubt, no doubt. Thanks so much, great show, Thanks
a lot.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
I appreciate the call. Hey one, two, three, nine, three,
twenty six hundred is the number, Kurt says. Signetti ain't
living on the check. I ain't leaving. I think so either.
I don't think so either. He seems pretty pretty locked
in here. Pretty great. It's he's done an amazing job.

(39:30):
He has a great relationship with his players, and the
fans really enjoy it. Got another caller, caller, if you
have your name, where you're from and what you got.

Speaker 6 (39:41):
Yeah, I'm LJ. I just left the game.

Speaker 16 (39:44):
I wonder what the narrative is going to be tomorrow
and it, Matt, I you just not you know, is
it Illinois is not that good?

Speaker 6 (39:51):
Or was it how you just dominated?

Speaker 16 (39:54):
Usually it's against I you.

Speaker 6 (39:58):
Illinois just not that good? Is what's going to be
said tomorrow?

Speaker 16 (40:00):
Is what I'm afraid it's gonna happen in the ranking
won't show that's the difference there.

Speaker 1 (40:05):
Well, here's the thing again. You look at it and yeah,
that will be part of it. No question that, oh
will Illinois got. I guess they weren't as good as
we thought. So you know, it's putting respect on Indiana
is not a habit of national media, to say the least,
But at some point, you just keep racking up these wins.
Don't worry about the rankings, don't worry about what people

(40:28):
are talking. Enjoy every Saturday because Kurt Signetti is going
to and this team everything points to them continuing to
make believers of people who go up against them. Because again,
this Illinois defense was supposed to be a fantastic defense.
Indiana just ran for three hundred yards on them their

(40:48):
Fernando Mendoza had two incompletions on the day five touchdown passes,
so you know, against what everybody said, it was a
great defense. You know, they don't don't worry about it.
I felt.

Speaker 6 (41:03):
It felt like I ran up the score.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
It's just you know, he just played football.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
Yeah, and it could have it could have been worse
because uh uh they dropped two pick sixes.

Speaker 6 (41:11):
So yeah, true, totally good.

Speaker 1 (41:16):
I appreciate the call. Thanks a lot. Eight one, two, three, nine, three,
twenty six hundred is the number we Uh well, we
had somebody else that was on the line and then
he just dropped out, so that's unfortunate. I do so
enjoy all the phone and phone calls that we got.
So far, we've had at least seventeen people call in,

(41:38):
which is quite a bit. Uh trenchymen, Trenchaman Button, the
guy who's shown up on our chat more than once.
Signetty doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to
build something major and leave unless it's some astounding amount
of money. I skipped a word because that's how it is.
Uh Oh, we got our caller back in. How big

(42:00):
I don't know how big Wisconsin's pocket pockets. Are guys,
enjoy this year. Don't worry about next year. Don't worry
about next year. It'll all work out. We got our
next collar collar. If I could have your name, where
you're from, and what you.

Speaker 4 (42:12):
Got and as Alex from penaltyon, Uh, it's a great game, man.
I was, oh, actually walk in it and I was like,
you know, it all kind of you know, getting away
with the game, and I'm like, man, this is not
like as well as I thought. Once we started, you know,
beating their ass pretty much like I mean, I wanted
to be you know, I wanted to win handedly, but

(42:33):
you know, after about you know, forty five points, I
started to like kind of lose interest. I was like, well,
I guess you know, it's a good thing. But on
the other hand, like I mean, with Indiana teams, it's
always like, you know, we're never that good. It's always
the other team was just sass. And then I'm trying
to think. I'm like, well, you know, I'm looking at uh,
I won't awais schedule. I'm like, well, why would they

(42:53):
ranked number nine to begin with? Like I know they
said that their defense was great and everything, but you know,
their wreck this year wasn't extremely impressive. I mean, it
wasn't as good as ours. And again, you know last year,
I guess they are right.

Speaker 1 (43:07):
And again they won their pool. Last year was bringing
back twenty of twenty two starters. I think Brett Beilma
is their head coach. So over the summer people say, well,
you put all that together, they're a top ten team.
And then they haven't lost, and so in the mind
of a lot of voters that if you don't lose,
I'm not really going to put you to drop you
down too far, and so you kind of keep those

(43:29):
spots early in the season and then when you're tested
and you fail that test miserably, this is what happens.

Speaker 4 (43:39):
Right, But nine, though, nine seems like that's pretty high,
man' that's all. We didn't even get that look and
we went to the playoffs last year, you know what
I mean?

Speaker 1 (43:46):
Well, because people were like, well like, but it's Beilma,
and so that's that's exactly what that's about.

Speaker 4 (43:53):
Yeah, all right, well yeah, but another thing then, you know,
my dad shortly before you know the season paddler season started.
Sorry to hear that, he was just a huge uh
no time man. He was just a major fan, man,
and you know he would be blowing me up right
now talking about this game and talking about everything. Uh,
Fernando's just looking incredible.

Speaker 9 (44:15):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (44:16):
I hope to see him improve and keep getting better
and then hearing up the recruitis were there tonight? You know,
for basketball and for football. I hope that to stand
up a lot of attention. And for the other teams,
I'll notice that. You know, we're here to stay hopefully,
and you after last year's run, you know, I was
really kind of anxious that we're gonna keep it going.
We're gonna keep it going, and it looks like we're
right on track now, you know, picking up where we

(44:36):
left off. So that's all I got for.

Speaker 1 (44:38):
You, man, I appreciate it. Thanks so much. Yes, sir,
Hey one two three, nine three, twenty six hundred is
the number we got Another caller, caller, if I can
have your name, where you're from, and what you got.

Speaker 10 (44:53):
Rob Thompson Greenwood. How you doing Ken? I'm doing good, Rob, Hey,
And Hey, I know you've been around a long time.
You and Rabbie right, Yeah, you got any good stories
about Rabbie?

Speaker 1 (45:09):
I have several stories about Rabbi but how what are
your thoughts about this guy?

Speaker 10 (45:15):
Yeah, so off the record, we'll talk about that way.
I just want to know, what do you think is
the ceiling for this team? Like this was? This was
amazing tonight, right, like, thank you, I You, thank you
to i Football. But what do you think is the
ceiling for this team?

Speaker 1 (45:35):
I don't look at it as a ceiling kind of thing.
To me, it is a because like last year, I
wouldn't have been like, you know, their ceiling is getting
to the college football playoffs. That wasn't even something that
I was on my radar at this point in the
season last year. This to me is about steps. So
Indiana has continued to play well through the non conference

(45:58):
season and then being able to beat a top ten
team at home is another step. Being able to now
go to Iowa and win at Iowa and beat Oregon.
These are the things that are are when you're on
the road and you're beating teams. That's kind of the
next step. So get there? Can they get their games
like games like you show that that they have that ability?

Speaker 10 (46:23):
Hey, Ken, though it was at sixty three, drumming though,
I like that Top finteen came into Memorial Stadium. Like
you've been a fan for a long time to have
I like, we've not.

Speaker 1 (46:37):
No, no, we haven't, So I don't. It's hard to
believe in it. They scored ten fewer points against Illinois
and Indiana State.

Speaker 10 (46:51):
Yeah, like like like I wanted to take my shirt
off tonight. Man, it was awesome, awesome, Like it's unbelievable.
Why you football in man? So, hey, I appreciate you. Hey,
my buddy's love you. They're listening so long or listening?

Speaker 1 (47:04):
Thank you?

Speaker 10 (47:05):
Kin, keep doing what you're doing.

Speaker 4 (47:06):
My man, go hoodre.

Speaker 1 (47:07):
I appreciate it. That's how are you football? Robby? So
what up? I will all right? Take care? Eight one, two, three, nine, three,
twenty six hundred, Ryan said, shout out to your ten
year old co hosts. Hope they get to join you
again on the show soon. Uh yeah, Charlie's enjoyed his

(47:29):
his newfound fame. We got another collar color. If I
have your name, where you're from and what you got?

Speaker 6 (47:38):
And this is Powderphreek, Georgia.

Speaker 1 (47:41):
Hi, how are you doing? How's the dour things in
Georgia tonight? Hey?

Speaker 4 (47:47):
Great?

Speaker 6 (47:47):
Usually I stay up late listening to our ridgeballdogs. Here
with her four hour post game and the brunt the
next day. But great to be a Hoosiah fanat situated
from IU in seventy four, stayed till thousand fives. Let's
talking to a buddy. November eight, two thousand and three,

(48:09):
Indiana seventeen, Illinois fourteen. We lost their vocal cords. Feeling
at that game. It was one of the games that
we actually won, a big ten game.

Speaker 10 (48:17):
It was great.

Speaker 6 (48:19):
It's just great to see this game tonight. I'm just
a huge stage. But even with the score, what sixty
to ten?

Speaker 1 (48:27):
Sixty?

Speaker 6 (48:29):
Yeah, I mean I get you know, it's a long
time in the end the fan, I gotta wait till
the very last minute to feel comfortable.

Speaker 1 (48:37):
Oh, I feel the same way.

Speaker 6 (48:38):
I hope we can. I hope we can be either
in State or Oregon and get back to the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (48:48):
It would be fantastic. What do you think it would
be fantastic? And they have that ability. I mean, look,
we saw what they did last year. Last year was
last year, and I understand that. But this year you
have a team that's really getting better by the week.
You know, whether it's quarterback, it's a defense, they are
getting better in every single phase, every single week. And

(49:11):
now it's not you know, nobody says that's going to continue,
but we've seen it to this point. So that gives
you plenty of encouragement that this is a team that
is now going into Saturdays not hoping to win, but
expecting to win. And when they go on the road
at Iowa next week, they're going to expect to beat
the Hawkeyes. And we have seen that this coaching staff

(49:32):
can put together a good game plan to do just that,
and so it's it's exciting they'll have every opportunity to
pull off a victory.

Speaker 6 (49:43):
I would talk to a friend. We went to the
Wisconsin game November four seventeen. I got tickets to the
veterans Veterans Day Week and or whatnot. We had a
whole sex to ourself. My wife is she's from North Carolina.
She was like, what's going on here? This isn't real football.

(50:04):
This is amazing to see. Like toldter and Night, like,
look at this, this is real. We're on NBC tonight.
This is a real deal. We've changed the path and
talking to a lot of people. I'm always wearing my
EYEU gear down here in Georgia, and people last but
last year they're starting to take us real so it
feels real good. The Georgia people are giving some credit.

(50:24):
Of course they think they're you know, Kirby and everything.
But I think we're good. I think we're at top
top ten teams. I just don't think we get to
respect and I'm about that. Let's get top eighteen nineteen,
so we'll prove them in the end.

Speaker 1 (50:40):
Skin And that's exactly.

Speaker 6 (50:41):
I appreciate your show. That's again, I appreciate you show.
I've I've called a couple of times just to back
when you were on the network, just kind of extended
thows Tom Allen.

Speaker 9 (50:53):
There like some games we should have won.

Speaker 6 (50:57):
I don't know. It's just great. It's a great time
to be Who's vill it is.

Speaker 1 (51:01):
Thank you so much for the call. Thanks, yeah, appreciate it.
Eight one, two, three, nine three, twenty six hundred is
the number. Lines are finally open. God, this is really
really fantastic to have this much excitement sixty three to
ten as somebody's driving way too fast through the parking

(51:22):
lot to be able to turn in this this kind
of performance. Though on the big stage. You know, we've
seen times before when Indiana has maybe had that opportunity
to make a statement and has come up short. Here
it is. You know, all the national cameras on they

(51:44):
booted Notre Dame off the network to get to this
game because Notre Dame was delayed with a lightning delay.
Thank god, we didn't have a lightning delay. That is
the absolute worst. But you know, being able to go
ahead and have this time to enjoy this victory is

(52:06):
really really important. You don't get a lot of these,
certainly Indiana fans haven't had a lot of these, and
so being able to to just enjoy the evening, enjoy
what we're seeing from Mendoza and Kobe Martin and Kaylin
Black and Roman Hemby and elijahs to rod Omar Cooper,

(52:30):
E J. Williams, all these guys. They're good. There's no
other way to put it. They're good. Consider that Indiana
gave up ten points today. You had one fifty nine
yard touchdown, another one day drive in late in the
first half, held scoreless in the second half even after

(52:52):
the backups came in. Maybe you had to kept kept
their foot on the gas and that's exactly what you want.
Last call for phone calls A one to two, three, nine, three,
twenty six hundred is the number again, last call. Here
been an absolutely incredible night here in Bloomington. Maybe some

(53:14):
people will start to believe in the Hoosiers. It's hard
to overlook them at this point. This this game has
to raise eyebrows. They they played well. They stepped on
Illinoi's neck and didn't let them up. Five hundred and
seventy nine yards of total offense, three hundred yards on

(53:35):
the ground, folks. Just two penalties on IU on the day.
That in and of itself is a change from the
past some of the other IU teams that we've seen.
But you know, just the numbers that they put up
is amazing. Rushing yards two rushing yards that means they
they ran for six feet on the night Illinois did well.

(53:58):
Indiana gave up to put up three hundred and twelve
just absolutely incredible. Thirty one first downs for the Hoosiers
versus nine for Illinois. Now one more caller that I'll
take a caller if you have your name, where you're from,
and what you got.

Speaker 16 (54:14):
Hey, Ken, It's Ryan and Bethesda Marylyn.

Speaker 1 (54:16):
How are you hi, Ryan? How are you doing?

Speaker 10 (54:19):
Great?

Speaker 16 (54:20):
First time caller? Longtime listener just wanted to say how
excited I am about the season, how excited I am
for the East Coast swing here in November, and I
think we have a legitimate shot here at returning to
where we were last year. And I've never seen this
much excitement around the Hure squad, even after last year.
This is reinforcement and you see program building and you

(54:45):
see replacements come in and perform. That's the highest level
and that's all you can really expect. So job well done.
Let's carry it on to Iowa and beyond. And I
really think this team is well placed for a run
here and is legitimate threat in the conference. And with
a who's your fan and a lifelong Indiana guy, that's

(55:06):
all you can ask for.

Speaker 1 (55:07):
Absolutely amen to all of that. It is a ton
of fun, ain't it. Appreciate the call.

Speaker 6 (55:16):
No.

Speaker 16 (55:16):
I hope to see here Marylyn when you come out
and hopefully at Penn State two. Would be great for
your show to start, you know, hitting on the road
with us now that we're a legitimate program, and I
hope that the media follows suit as well.

Speaker 1 (55:29):
I appreciate that. Thanks a lot. Got another another caller,
I said that as the last one that I on. Liar. Oh,
it's all if I have your name, where you're from.

Speaker 10 (55:38):
And what you got.

Speaker 4 (55:40):
Just just a quick collection.

Speaker 6 (55:42):
Uh that next kid being born because I name it hurt.

Speaker 9 (55:45):
Or it's kidding.

Speaker 16 (55:46):
What's what's a better name for my you know, my
nextborn child.

Speaker 1 (55:49):
Sig makes sense. You can also just you can also
just go with Natty.

Speaker 4 (55:55):
Yeah, Natty, Yeah, Natty.

Speaker 16 (55:57):
If it's a girl, right, I agree, go look at that.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
Yeah, you're covered either way. You could have sign, you
could have Nettie. I don't see why that would be
a problem. That sounds like a fantastic idea. Yeah, there
go Hoosiers. Thanks for the call. Ah, Yeah, it calls
from all over the country. Jam says, been an I

(56:19):
you fan for thirty something years. It's so fun to
follow the Hoosiers. The last two season, Don and Buck
are having so much fun on the radio call. And
that was I talked to. I know that Don was
really really enjoying himself today. Buck had said that he
expected this to happen, not maybe not sixty three to ten,
but he expected Indiana to win. This ball came and

(56:42):
you know what it is, especially for Fish. Now I've
watched a lot of bad football over the years. Fish
has been there, you know, even longer since you know,
he started doing this before I was born, and I'm
fifty one years old, and so he said, he's doing that.

(57:04):
And I'm happy for guys like Fish to be able
to start to enjoy this and see Indiana playing at
the level that they did, have an atmosphere that is
a real atmosphere here. I think this is it's a
ton of fun. Keep the callers coming, Ken Kurt says,
let's keep it going. This is great a content. Yeah,

(57:26):
but we're headed towards twelve thirty. We've been on the
air for an hour now, and I'm going to wrap
it up. I mean, we're beating the hell out of
this horse. But just like Indiana beat the hell out
of Illinois, I'll take it. So the Hoosiers sixty three

(57:46):
to ten winners at Memorial Stadium in the best atmosphere
that I've seen in my twenty one years of covering
this team, far none, and you had fans in the
seats with sixteen minutes before the game. Perfect. That's what
it's supposed to be. That's how it's supposed to work,

(58:08):
and that energy that was in that building at the
start of the game was incredibly important for Indiana. People
didn't wander in, They had asses in the seats right
from the start, and that is something that has been missing.
Now let's do that for the next home game. The
next home game. That's where Indiana fans, that culture has

(58:28):
to turn and hopefully that's exactly what we're seeing well
as we head towards the twelve thirty hour, I'm gonna
wrap this up for the evening. Fantastic night on the air.
I love talking to you guys so much, love talking
to you guys so much. Haven't looked at any other

(58:51):
big ten scores. I see somebody putting some stuff in
the chat there about USC's score right now. Don't know
what exactly uh that is, but what a day in Bloomington,
sixty three to ten win over Illinois. You get a

(59:12):
commitment from a top thirty five point guard. It's just
there's a nice vibe here right now, nice vibe, and
Kurt Signetti has absolutely changed things here. He's changed things
and made it made this special. So I'm gonna go

(59:34):
ahead and shut this down now. So it says so
great to be an IU fan in SEC country. Yeah,
Indiana's got to keep winning those ball games to shut
those people up. I don't disagree with that. I appreciate it.
