(00:00):
Welcome back to the podcast That RocksWeekly podcasts that talks about news in the
world of rock, middle alternative andeverything in between. My name is Luke
Host and the YouTube channel rock. Thanks for checking this out. Hope you're
having a good week. If you'rein the US, you are enjoying one
naturally hot week with heat domes poppingup in parts of the country where I
am. It's currently nine degrees everyday and expected to get hotter. And
that's not even the worst of it. Summer sucks. Bring on the cold.
(00:23):
Our main focus of today reflects onthe title David Draymond is bombing literally
now. Some of you might think, is he really dropping bad music again?
Not quite. I said literally, because he's signing bombs at the IDF
and these missiles will be dropped inwar. Some of you might be thinking,
what are you talking about. Thatdidn't happen. He posted it himself.
(00:43):
It's now deleted. I think hegot enough of a backlash in less
than twenty four hours to show thatDavid Draymond probably should not have been broadcasting
things like this. I am notgoing to go into the major underlying politics
of this terrible war that is goingon overseas, whole Hamas situation, the
whole Hama situation, everything involves. However, I find it interesting that David
(01:04):
Draymond, who does have his ownstandings on this political war, went to
the IDF, has several soldiers standingbehind him in a picture with many missiles
and bombs, and he's signing oneof the bombs, much like World War
Two soldiers in the Allies signed bombsthat were aimed for Hitler. Now,
he might have been trying to dothe same thing as an homage to that
(01:26):
with his own take. However,it's a big jump to compare World War
II against the Nazis and Israel versusPalestine and Hamas and everything else. So
as you can imagine, the commentshave not been kind on both sides.
You can also imagine it caused alittle bit of controversy. He deleted it
(01:49):
hours after posting several photos of himvisiting the sites standing with soldiers. Some
more artistic compilations of that image ofthe World War II soldiers in the Allies
signing the bombs with him overlaid itinto an artistic image. It's a mess.
It's a big fat mess. Ican't believe this is the man that
just twenty four years ago was singingoh wah ah ah in someone's basement.
(02:12):
To quote one comment, this mancompletely remade the sound of silence, and
now he's siding with the silence. Now that's just one comment. Some people
might be agreeing with what he's doing. Politically, my take is more of
why would you want to be associatedwith the literal weapon of destruction? It's
not even a guns rights thing. This is a weapon used for total destruction
(02:35):
and death, to be dropped onpeople, many times in civilians. I
do hope Disturbed does not have newmusic coming out, because that means this
is the worst promotion for new Disturbedmusic I could have ever imagined. Now
just play now, go ahead, replaced Disturbed the worst possible promotion for new
music I may have ever heard.I don't think that's what it is,
(02:57):
just trying to make something lighthearted outof this rough situation. I can't show
the picture on the YouTube feed likethe broadcast of it. It will be
on rockdown Net with the podcast postfor this week. If you want to
see the image, someone screenshot atit. That's how everyone knows it's all
online. I saw the original groupof images, but the main one is
the actual photo him squatting down ina tank top and writing the F bomb
(03:19):
and on a bomb. He's literallywriting the F bomb on an actual Bob
Goodness Disturbed in twenty twenty four. Not exactly what I thought they'd be doing,
But here we are in happier news. Download festival just happened this past
weekend, and there's always some interestingthings happen with these big, massive festivals.
Across three or four days always unfolds. One of the more interesting things
(03:42):
of this was Evenge sevenfold set havingserious sound issues during the headline performance and
cut out. The sound completely cutout during nightmare Boy. That must have
made people real happy that waited inthe mud all day for Avenged. I'm
not joking. The muddiest festival somehowlooked even muddier in some of these photos.
People might as well have swam tothe stage just like pretty much doggy
(04:05):
paddled all the way through the mudand muck just to get from stage to
stage. That's how some of thesephotos looked. It was insane. The
other part I want to point outis that apparently I have not seen video
footage of this, but Many peopleare reporting that Code Orange was calling out
Event Sevenfold for cutting down everyone settime on that day because Event Sevenfold fought
(04:27):
for more time for the made eventspot Codeornge has never really done anything like
this before and has never had ahuge ego towards other groups, so I'm
leaning more towards Codorge being honest withthis. However, I've not seen it
yet. I'd love to see footage. If anyone wants to link it on
the YouTube post or any of theother posts as well, hit me up
on socials. Here's the thing. They did get footage of the sound cutting
out, and apparently it was quitea few times that this happened. Event
(04:49):
Sevenfold not having the best night inthe Muddy Muddy download Fest. Cool things
did happen, though, Black DahliaMurder debuted a new song. Pantera played
the first UK show in over twentyyears, so if you are a Pantera
fan, that is kind of cool. No, it wasn't new stuff.
It was still the Pantera tribute showthat they've been doing in the US for
a while. Many bands did havegreat performances, though you can check out
(05:11):
more of that on all the manydifferent sites that we're able to cover it,
including loud wire revolver stuff. Overseas. Kerrang had a ton of stuff
obviously, it's UK based. Festivalseason is upon us. And remember,
no matter what festival, you goto plan accordingly for every single type of
weather, because if you went todownload and you do not have serious muck
boots and a potential snorkel, youprobably had a bad time. As I'm
(05:33):
recording this on June eighteenth, it'llbe this weekend or Ghost Movie right here
right now will be featured in selecttheaters across the world. If I want
to release a sneak preview of itonline, you can check out that on
YouTube as well as on Rock donthat for this podcast post. This will
be park conscert film where they showa lot of different songs recorded professionally at
(05:54):
a California show and then part howdo I say this lore that Ghost has
been doing the videos for for yearsnow. This will all feed into that
and expand it. So if you'rea Ghost fan, this film is going
to give you everything you want andthen some again. It's in theaters this
weekend. Tobias Forge is hitting thebig screen and really putting it all out
there. For this and then someI don't know if this will shape everything
(06:15):
to come for Ghost. I don'tknow if there is surprises or some new
stuff planned that'll be unveiled in themovie. He is the type of person
to do that. By the way, we shall see. My wife got
tickets for it for myself and I. I will have a report in my
thoughts on it next week. Worthchecking out that least the preview though,
to see what you can kind ofexpect. Will there be theaters of people
dressing up? Probably? Will theyall be singing Ghost at the same time?
(06:39):
I kind of hope not. Iwant to hear Ghost at the movie
theater sing along at the concert ifyou want, But come on, it's
a movie theater. I don't wantto hear you sing. I want to
hear Papa sing. The movie soundtrackwill also be available July twenty six,
which will be on vinyl. Here'sopen right here, right now is awesome
and not completely insane. I willprobably be wrong and it will be completely
(06:59):
insane. Though. Several albums worthkeeping an eye on that are coming out
this weekend in the heavy music world. One Kitty their return with a new
album Fire that would be released thisFriday. There first in quite a while,
I got to see Kitty back atSick New World. They sounded great.
I'm curious to see what we'll havefor new material. Ten songs on
the new album Fire. They alreadyreleased several singles. By the way,
(07:20):
Wage War have their new album Maniccoming out this Friday as well. I've
been a wage War fan for awhile and over the last few years they've
tried to expand and branch out injust slightly different ways, and I've been
a fan of that. I'm cautiouslyoptimistic might be a better way for to
say this for Wage War and whatthey have. Finally, Al Sas,
the one man French black gaze metalProjects, has the new album coming La
(07:42):
Chans de Laroure Dawn Songs pretty muchSongs of the Dawn will be coming out
and that's seven songs. I've heardthe first single. It is exactly what
you think of when you think blackgay. So if you're into death,
heaven and music like that, youmight want to check out what al Sast
has. Thank you to everyone whochecked out the Warped tourvid I posted on
the YouTube channel this past Monday talkingabout it if Warped Tours should return,
(08:03):
in my opinion, probably not.And ten Warped Tour allegations of the many,
many, many bands that had allegations. If I only just covered ten,
there were many more. The videowas something atypical for me that I'm
used to doing, but I wantedto try to make something different, and
so far I've gotten no complaints.Thank you again for checking that out.
If you haven't, I'll link iton the YouTube video. I'll put a
(08:24):
note of it in the socials andon the notes for the podcast fees,
and it'll be on ROCKNT. Obviously, I do want to hear what you
guys say, so please leave somecomments on that YouTube video for Warp Tour,
most recent video on the channel.I want festivals to work. I
want tours to work, but somethinglike Warp Tours should probably be left in
the past, or at least asit was, the fifty city traveling circus
of many, many bands and neverenough staff at each venue and security at
(08:48):
each venue to really operate. Itprobably something we should leave behind. That'll
be all for this week's The Podcastthat Rocked Big. Thanks to my painters
and YouTube members who have really keptme a float the last few months,
while YouTube has been on the dumpsthanks to Chris Doman, Brandon, Bruce
Mars Hunter, and Dom Noble. You can get early access in more perks
by signing up for Patreon or YouTubemembership. Two dollars a month goes a
long way, and you get earlyaccess like you got Warp Tour, like
(09:11):
you'll get the Warp Tour video, and you'll get special exclusives like how did
I miss this? Where I coverthree extra albums that I didn't do an
album review on. I've been doingthat for the last few months now.
Hope you're all doing well. I'llhave more updates about that ghost movie next
weekend, and finally before I fadeaway, because I've already been asked by
a few people. Yes, Idid see that Justin Timberlake got arrested for
DUI. I have no sympathy fordrunk drivers, especially millionaire drunk drivers who
(09:33):
could literally pay for the most obscenetransportation imaginable. Justin Timberlake could have paid
four random guys to carry him aroundin a man cab wherever he wanted.
He had that kind of money, but he still decided no, I'm just
going to drive drunk. He's bringingSexy back to jail. So no,
I don't feel bad about him.I don't feel bad for drunk drivers.
I just don't. I get peoplemake mistakes, but that's a long series
(09:56):
of mistakes if you decide to drivedrunk. So yeah, to quote,
Katie is alright, a great publicistfor many great bands as well as someone
that helps run the Milwaukee Metal Festivaland sync more like incarcerated am I right?
Special tribute to Katie for coming upwith such gold
