(00:22):
Hello, everybody in well. Ibet you couldn't tell that we have a
few technical difficulties this morning. I'mJim Williams. This is the Political and

(00:46):
Correct podcast for Thursday, eighty threedays into Israel Hamas War. Our cover
story, after we listened to Tallahemriegive us the daily briefing, is about
Israel's request for Apache helicopters. Nowit's been there's a lot of misconceptions of

(01:12):
what's going on and a lot ofyou know, basically bad information. I
will set straight the record right afterwe listen to Tao in the morning after
doing there daily briefing. This isTala Hirich. After we hear from Tao,
we'll catch up on the other sidewith the latest headlines headed by Our

(01:36):
cover story was about the Apache helicopters. So, without any further ado,
ladies and gentlemen, Talahirich, KalaHeinrich, a spokesperson for the Israeli Prime
Minister's Office. This is day eightythree of the October seventh war. We
begin today with some of the latestfigures. Since Thamas is an unprovoked massacre
on October seventh, over thirteen thousandrockets have been launched towards Israel. These

(02:00):
rockets are launched in violation of internationallaw, whether being fired from civilian areas,
fired toward civilians in Israel, orfired from designated un demilitarized zones.
Shame on the terror organizations and internationalactors who cover up for these daily provocations.

(02:21):
Since yesterday, another three IDF soldiershave been killed in action, bringing
the IDF's tally to five hundred one. The fallen soldiers are a thirty two
year old Major de Ville da vidFema, twenty four year old Captain Nerja
Zisk, and twenty two year oldSergeant Fairst Class Asaf Pinchastuburg. We send

(02:43):
our heartfelt condolences to their families.Kramas continues to hold one hundred and twenty
nine people hostage since the ten seventhmassacre, many of whom require life saving
medications which the International Red Cross continueus to deny them. We remind you
that even before ten to seven,Hamas held another four Israeli hostages in violation

(03:07):
of international law. Tamas's very existenceis a threat to Israeli's way of life,
and we will continue to explore everyavenue to secure our hostages released and
the dismantling of this terrorist regime. And now an operational update. Yesterday evening,
the elite IDF forces destroyed three ofHamas's terror tunnels, which were found

(03:31):
both in their NTC hospital and neara school building. One of the tunnel
shifts, located in a girls' school, was twenty meters deep and even included
a fully functional elevator. Instead ofinvesting in their children's future, Hamas terrorists
funneled money towards a diabolical terror machine. We continued to demand that the UN

(03:58):
and in particular UNISEEF, call outTramasa's perversion of hospital and children's children's school
buildings. Though these discoveries are horrible, they are no longer surprising. The
more our forces expose Tamas's infrastructure, the more we realize how much they systematically
betray their own people. They needto go and now an update from the

(04:25):
Northern front. Israelis woke up thismorning to yet another barrage of rockets launched
by Hisbala terrorists towards Israeli towns. To those international organizations and heads of state
who persistently call for de escalation inthe region, now is your moment to
speak up. Since this war beganwith Hamas's unprovoked massacre, you have watched

(04:47):
IDF forces act with both precision andrestraint in dealing with Iran's proxy in the
North. With each passing day,Iranian proxies continue to be come more brazen.
In the international community's silence is nothingbut wind in their sales. Enough
is enough, Speak up now insteadof later criticizing our decisive response. The

(05:15):
authoritarian Iranian regime seeks bloodshed and chaos. They publicly refer to the United States
as the big Satan and refer toIsrael as the small Statan, while also
calling to destroy our states. Theirproxies desperately aim to destabilize our region.
Do not side with the aggressors.Just as we did not start a war

(05:40):
with Ramas, we do not wishto start a war with Risbala. Yet
we remain more than capable of wipingout any threats in the North. To
Iran and your proxies, we senda clear message, do not test our
resolve. It would be a terrible, terrible mistake. And finally, we
are indignant following President Erduwin's despicable, non sensical comparison between Adolf Hitler and our

(06:08):
Prime minister. Not only do hisstatements twist reality beyond recognition, but they
also shamefully disrespect the legacy and victimsof the Holocaust. The Turkish president exhibits
both moral and historical confusion which haveno bounds, and as the our Prime
minister said, Erduwan openly commits genocideagainst the Kurds and routinely imprisons journalists who

(06:32):
dare shed light on his cruelty, and we are expected to heed his moral
condemnations. We condemn Erduwan's remarks inthe strongest possible terms. In Israel,
we will continue to fight against pureevil while upholding the highest standards of military
operational conduct. If corrupt leaders criticizeus along the way, we leave them

(06:58):
to fall on the wrong side ofhistory. I am now happy to take
your questions. The first question comesfrom Mayaan Lupel of Reuters. We would
appreciate comment on report published by theOffice of the UN High Commissioner for Human
Rights citing what it describes as aquote rapid deterioration of human rights in the

(07:21):
West Bank and urging Israeli authorities toend violence against the Palestinian population there.
Thank you, thank you for yourquestion. We have seen this report,
and first I'll say that we aredeeply concerned that it shows what we already
knew, that Palestinians are arming fifteenyear rolls and telling them to confront IDF

(07:41):
forces. It is our wages. Now the rest of the report, I
would say it is quite ridiculous andthe way that it completely belittles the major
security threats to Israeli is emerging fromJudae and Samaria. You know, unlike
many in the international community and atthe United Nations, even Israel takes Palestinian
words, actions, threats very veryseriously. We believe the terrorists when they

(08:05):
say that they will finish off theone and only Jewish state in the world.
You know, they say it,they chant it, they they write
it, they act on it.We don't need any more proof. Ramas
leaders are saying that they would carryout another October seventh massacre again and again
and again. So we will notallow it, not in the South and
not in the West. So again, as for this report, our forces

(08:30):
are operating in Judaan and Samaria tokeep that front as quiet as possible.
Despite the many challenges that we havethere you have their ramas and Palestinian Islami
jihad strongholds. There is there's certainly, they're certainly there. They wish to
hurt Israelis, and we're making surethat they will lack the capabilities to do

(08:52):
that, even though they have thedesire as we know. And yes,
we arrested hundreds of terrort suspects inthat area and we will continue to do
whatever it takes to maintain our security. Now, as this report indicates,
do security checks complicate the day today life of uninvolved civilians well, to
a certain extent, the answer isyes, But the ones to blame are

(09:16):
the terrorists, people involved in terroristactivity. And as for what the reports
said about so called settler violence, you see, if people violate the law,
we prosecute them, regardless of theirreligious or political affiliation. The Prime
Minister has been very very clear,he said that nobody should be taking the
law into their own hands. Thenumbers are actually showing a significant decrease in

(09:41):
an already marginal phenomena, and theoverwhelming majority, it's important to mention here
of the settler community are law abidingcitizens. Do not mistake the exception for
the rule. The next question comesfrom Jim Williams Zenger International News. Jim

(10:03):
asks about communication between Israel and theUS. He says Secretary Austin has said
that any more aggressive military actions bythe Iranian proxies will be met with force.
Is the Israeli and the US onthe same page, one percent,
Jim, we are on the samepage. Secretary Austin when he was here
just a bit more than a weekand a half ago, I believe,

(10:26):
he also said that the US supportto Israel's just cause in this war is
quote unshakable, and we are inlockstep with our American partners and what pertains
to the goals of this war, which are, of course, to eliminate
the Commas terrorist regime, to bringback all hostages home, and to make
sure that this enclave will never posea terror threat to Israelis. Again,

(10:48):
we have been communicating with the WhiteHouse on a daily, even hourly basis.
As you know, US officials arevisited here several times, and we'll
continue to do so, and wekeep communicating. And we see I to
I again about what pertains to thegoals of this war. We all want

(11:09):
the same. Yes. The nextquestion is from Hannah Julian of the Jewish
Press. There have been reports thatthe US has denied an Israeli request for
attack helicopters. Can you confirm ordeny? And do you have any comment?
Thank you, No, I donot have any comment about this specific

(11:30):
report. That concludes a daily briefingfor today. Thank you for joining us.
All right, Thanks to Tal forbringing that daily briefing to us.
All right, so let's move quicklyinto what we said we were going to

(11:52):
talk about, and that is theIsraeli's latest weapons requests includes Apache helicopters.
Now, the first question from Reutersthat you heard from Tall pardon me,
talked about deny. All right,Well, that's not true. Okay,
they're not deny. They haven't beendenied. What they have been is Secretary

(12:16):
of Defense Lloyd Austin has basically puta hold on that. Okay, he
has concerns, and those concerns arebasically for those who don't know, the
Apache helicopter is possibly the most lethal, one of the most lethal. Put

(12:43):
it that way tools we have inour wartime toolbox. Okay. An Apache
helicopter can fire rockets that can firebullets. It's basically made to protect people

(13:03):
in low you know, in urbanareas. Obviously, Israelis have pilots who
pilot the Apache helicopters. However, this new breed of Apache helicopters are extremely
sophisticated, and since they carry honormoments on them that are so you know,

(13:28):
lethal in the abilities, you needto know how to now work this
entirely new version of the Apache helicopter. So Secretary of Austin has been in
contact with his counterparts in Israel andhe's been vetting who the pilots are and

(13:52):
getting some information. The coordination betweenthe IDF and the United States Pentagon has
been constant. They will likely getthe helicopters they have I think it's two
now two or four that they use, and they're overtaxed because you know,

(14:15):
you've got to go back and rearm the helicopters. But the point should
be noted here that the United StatesPentagon and the Department of Defense and Secretary
of Defense Austin has not said no. They put a pin in it for
the moment because they want to makesure that something that is this lethal is

(14:39):
in the hands of someone who canabsolutely fly it. Now, it should
be noted that no one is sayingthat the Israeli pilots are not capable of
flying these things. But here inthe United States we've had a number of
some of the most elite helicopter pilots. We have have to take a refresher

(15:03):
course, if you will, onhow the Apache works and the new computerized
version of the Apache. So thereports that you know, the US is
not gonna sell the helicopters to theIsraelis is it's just not true. Okay,

(15:26):
it's on pause, as I said, And once Secretary of Austin is
convinced that the pilots that will beflying these war machines are capable of doing
it so that a mistake does nothappen. Okay, that's the reason the

(15:50):
Apache helicopters have not been deployed there. So you know, at that point,
some people have questioned. Okay,as a matter of fact, I've
got some questions. David is aTwitter question. David Coppersmith has a question.
David's question is, you know, has the fact with the patchy helicopters,

(16:15):
does that mean the United States isnot going to support Israel with regards
to our moments, Well, youdon't know that is not the it's not
the answer. As a matter offact, I actually have a great graphic
here. Let me let's grab thisgraphic here and put it in. Thus

(16:37):
far, the United States has providedthe IDEAF with over two hundred and fifty
planeloads of battle gear, and thatmeans rifles, missiles, anything that an
army would need to survive and prosperhas been sent to the IDEF. Now

(16:59):
the idea of has they are apartner here, but like all of our
partners, including the Ukraine and whereverit may be around the world, they
are allowed to purchase this. Somake sure that you understand that the over
two hundred and fifty planeloads that havegone to the region to the IDEF at

(17:22):
the start of the October cent warcontinue to go on a daily basis,
okay, and they are paid forby the State of Israel, Okay.
So that I think is a veryimportant definition with what's going on. So
don't let the hold up of theApache helicopters be something that you are concerned

(17:52):
about when it comes to the UnitedStates helping and arming Israel in their fight
against some US, it's not thecase, okay. What is the case
as I said before, is concernover elite pilots being able to fly these
amazing Apache helicopters. Okay, sothat's where the hang up is. Don't

(18:17):
confuse helping Israel and getting Israel whatthey need to fight both Hamas and his
BLA. So that's something we needto look at, and as I said
before, we will keep your poston what's going on in that regard.

(18:38):
All right, so let's talk fora minute about some of our questions we
got. Let me just quickly takea look here. Okay, Emmanuel,
Emmanuel Davis, he's got a questionfor us on on YouTube. Okay.

(19:03):
So Emmanuel, your question is hasto do with planning and morning after.
Well we're not we're not there yet, okay, so we got ways to
go, but planning and what's goingto happen after right, Okay, here,

(19:26):
let's we need to everything here needsto be put in context with regards
to history, because what I'm seeingout there is a lot of people who
a either got bad grades in historyor they just didn't you know, they
missed it, they were absent thatday. A lot of people are comparing

(19:51):
this war to a traditional war,and that's no you're making a mistake.
I'll use a legal term. It'sa definition without a distinction. All right,
the definition of Israel versus Hamas. Is it a war? Yeah,
you've got two opposing viewpoints in amilitary action which Israel didn't ask for,

(20:25):
Hamas went ahead and implemented it.Hamas is not a country. Hamas,
you know, in some regards, represents the palaestinan people. But that's another
story for another day. There youcannot You can call it a war,

(20:48):
but it's not traditional. And here'swhere the definition with the distinction comes in.
Here's the distinction part of the definition. You can say that the Ukraine
and Russia battles is going on aswe enter year two of that international conflict.

(21:11):
That is the traditional war. You'vegot two countries, presidents, parliament,
you know, the whole routine. They have two structured people who could,
and I assume in time, willfigure out a way to resolve this,

(21:36):
you know, this war that theyhave in a more traditional way,
which is where you have representatives ofboth countries coming together and hammering out some
sort of agreement. That's at themoment, that's a long way away,
and I'm pretty sure that Putin iswilling to play this thing out until uh

(22:02):
the elections to find out who thenext president will be. So there's no
reason at this point he's gone thislong, and so there's no reason to
believe that, you know, somehow, some way that's going to get resolved
anytime soon. We all wish itwould, but I think that would be
foolish. So let's go back tothe definition with the distinction. If you're

(22:27):
dealing with a terrorist organization, theUnited States didn't We all remember that a
couple of times is better a matterof fact, one with ISIS and of
course Osama bin Laden and you knowthat group. And so you know,

(22:48):
right after nine to eleven, fightinga group with a terrorist group, you're
fighting something. It's different. You'renot fighting a country, You're fighting an
ideology. Okay, So if theirgoal is to destroy the US or in
this case has Hamas and his blackconcern is to destroy the you know,

(23:11):
the state of Israel, then whathappens is that they don't there's no there's
no one person in charge, okay, there's a group of people in charge.
So far, on the negotiation side, we've seen the Kataris play a

(23:37):
very big role in this is tosome extent the Egyptians as well, trying
to figure out what to do andbeing in contact as best they can with
the people who run Hamas. Nowdo we know, because there are a
lot of splinter groups off of Hamas, what's going on. Are they being

(23:59):
able to communicate back and forth fromyou know, northern Gaza to southern Guys
to wherever they may be. Wedon't know that what we're doing is I
mean, we had a something inthe United States and Israeli and Cutter and
some other states in the region cameup and said, okay, fine,

(24:22):
we'll do a hostage for hostage exchangeprogram and they did that and it lasted
for a week, and then youknow, Hamas violated the terms of the
agreement and so the back of war. It makes it very difficult to fight

(24:45):
a war with Hamas because it isan ideology. So there's no clear distinct
leader who you can use and talkto, who can basically say, okay,
fine, will you read to this. You've got actors who would prefer

(25:10):
this continue to go on forever,as top put in in the daily briefing
around you know, Iran is definitelyone of them who likes to see chaos,
and chaos is good for them. So, you know, General Austin,
in a statement he had earlier thisweek, talked about the United States

(25:34):
and their movement against the proxies fromIran when they carried out some systematic hits
on Basis in Jordan and Levin sorrySyrian Levin. And you know, I

(26:00):
think that both President Biden and Secretaryof Austin came through with what one would
consider reasonable and that was Look, the deal is, you know, Hesbola
is not going to get involved inthis. Iran's not get involved in this.
We will stop this meaning of theUnited States. So they've been forewarned

(26:23):
and we'll see how it plays out. But remember, as I said,
the war between Hamas and Hamas andIsrael is not traditional. It is what
we now have as a war.And you can to country versus an ideology
in this case a most terror groupsmuch like Isis. So you know,

(26:49):
that's that's how it has to bewar seen. You you know, if
we're talking about you know, therules of war, well, only one
sides playing by the rules of war, and that would be Israel. Hamas
is not playing by the rules ofwar. As a matter of fact,
they literally broke all but maybe twoof the requirements that are you know,

(27:15):
under consideration when you apply the GenevaConvention to you know, they attack civilians,
they beheaded people, they killed innocentpeople in a targeted attack to do
just that. Okay, any rulein every rule that has to do with

(27:37):
the rules of war, specifically tothe Geneva Convention, which has you know,
war rules to it, they brokeon day one. So there's no
reason to believe that you're dealing withan actor who wants to see a happy
ending this. Okay, it's notgonna happen. Okay, So we'll have

(28:03):
to see how that plays out.If you remember, it took almost a
decade, maybe even a little overa decade for the United States to take
out Osama bin Laden and that wasyou know, that was quite an extensive
mission to through two administrations, theBush administration the Obama administration to get to

(28:26):
that. Okay, So we'll haveto see how this particular issue plays out.
So you don't have a defined hierarchyhere. You've got names and people
that you think are in charge, but who can make the final call and
decide how it ends on the Hamasside. We don't know, and we

(28:47):
don't know that it would. Sothere we are in that. Any more
quick questions. We have a couplemore for col Twitter. What we got
on Twitter? We got okay,Sarah, Sarah Jakins, Sarah, what
you got? Alright? Let melook real quick, okay. Homanitarian aid.

(29:10):
Yes, Look, the Israeli governmenthas said that they can and will
supply as much aid as the UN. You know people can handle. And
right now there are about two hundredplus trucks a day. They could double
that and may perhaps even triple that. Uh if the UN and they're peacekeeping

(29:37):
groups who are distributing this, thefood, the medicine and all that to
the the Palestinian people, Uh,if they could move quicker on it.
There has been numerous reports so asthey haven't even hi tried to hide it
that the UN, for what reasons, I have no idea, U have

(30:00):
been ripped off at there at thesecenters where all the places stockpiles was like
a large warehouse. They've been there'sbeen stuff stolen out of there. Now
you know, you would think thatthey would have security involved, but clearly
they don't. So Israel is happyto do whatever they can to get more

(30:25):
trucks into Gaza if that two openareas. Now there is talk about,
you know, ships coming in viacypress. Those are ongoing conversations. It's
not happening right now, but itcould happen sooner as opposed later. We'll
keep you posting on that. Butyeah, the Israel situation of getting aid

(30:48):
to the Palestinian people is something thatthere is a high priority. You know,
I'm not sure that you can getas much aid as they need to
them, Okay, it's just logisticallycould be a problem. I mean,
you're in the middle of a warzone, so it makes it difficult to

(31:08):
be sure. So I know thatIsrael's doing what they can, is there
could everybody be doing more? Ithink we all could, and I think
that's something that we'll see in theupcoming months. But that's about all we
have time for today. We're goingto be back day eighty four tomorrow.

(31:29):
We're hoping that this war doesn't lasttoo long, but one never knows when
it comes to war. And there'sconversations which we'll delve into probably tomorrow,
from Egypt and from other people withinthe region who we'd like to see this
whole thing come to an end witha two state solution. We'll get into

(31:52):
the two state solution tomorrow, butjust a little preamble to that, and
that is it. You're not gonnayou can't expect people and a lot of
people are talking about the Marshall Plan, which was initiated in World War two,
all going deep. We'll do adeep dive into that tomorrow. But

(32:13):
you know, the moment that thewar was over in Europe and in Japan,
everybody when friends, okay they weren'tthere, there was a lot of
thinking It went into the Marshall Planas to what are we going to do

(32:34):
to help rebuild Europe and help rebuildin Japan. So this is a long
This is a long goal, right, The two state solution is a long
goal. You can't get there, you know on the day the morning after.
The morning after is a time forboth sides, the Israelis and the

(32:59):
Palestine to begin the process of healingand begin the process of group you know,
working out the details for a preliminarystep. This is a long goal,
long term goal. Is it adecade away? I don't know,
is it five years away? Isit twenty years away. Is it never

(33:19):
gonna happen, Well, it's nevergonna happen if you don't try. We'll
go into that tomorrow on what couldbe the path to a longer and more
stable Middle East. And so we'llgo over that in tomorrow's show. Got
to thank all of you for joiningus today. We'll get we'll get to

(33:40):
