Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Really Short Story podcast here on JLJ medium.
James E. Junior, thanks for making the show. Now. It's
a hit. People are people are listening to it. It's
in my top ten of my shows and everything. So
I said, we're trying different things on our road to
one hundred and on this episode, I am reading something

(00:24):
from one of my journals, so whole for a second.
So I wrote journals from nineteen eighty to twenty and sixteen,
off and on, and I've started actually the audio journal
this year. Oh no, last year. It was last year.
So I've been off and on journeying in my life.

(00:46):
I have I have, Yes, I have a lot of stuff,
but I go through them sometimes for certain things. And
I said, you know, up, I'm just gonna pull a
journal out of random and it's uh. So there was

(01:06):
a uh, there was a book and a and a
traveling show called Mortified back in the two thousands, and
it was so good. I might have seen a couple
of them and live where people from the eighties gen
xers read their journal entries exactly the way they wrote
them on stage. Oh my god, it's Mortify and it's

(01:27):
it's hilarious. Mortifying everything. So I thought, I'm gonna I'm
gonna go through my journal and find some short entries
and then and read them to you. I'm like, I'm
gonna be revealing something. So this is my real life,
you guys, this is real life. Because I got some
long entries to I don't want the long entries, okay, see,

(01:50):
And my god, I'm not gonna protect the names. I
don't know who they are. Let's see. It's just a
random one from March nineteenth, nineteen ninety five, exactly thirty

(02:15):
years ago. It says after eight am, and I don't know.
I'm I'm trying to I'm reading. It's going I don't
know who this is. It's somebody I was I was liking.
I guess here's a let's see. Here's this makes me say,
it's a short. It's a short a entry. Okay, here
it is. I wrote this. Oh my god, it's so weird.
I was twenty six. I was twenty five by turn
twenty six. I gave him a card yesterday. I said,

(02:39):
your angels for the week are light, joy and humor,
three things I hope I bring to you. My angels
are I love, harmony, and flexibility, three things I want
to give to you. Stick with me, and I'll try
to make you smile every day always, James, he loved it.

(03:02):
This man is everything I want from a boyfriend. It
amazes me that he finds me so attractive. I can't
stop thinking about him. I get butterflies in the stomach
and sometimes my heart races when I'm around him. Oh
my god, I even know who that that is just
from just from glance. I don't know who that is.
As the second to last entry in my in this

(03:24):
particular journal, oh my god, I don't know what and
I'm looking with glancing at the next story. Next entry
doesn't say it doesn't even I'm like, okay, that's so oh.
I was so happy. Oh my god, yuys, we're so
happy young love so happy. Oh my god, that's so crazy.

(03:48):
I'm trying to say all the rest of the all
the rest of these in this journal. I said, we
got another journal, so I went and grabbed another book.
This is from nice ninety four, So this is thirty
one years ago, thirty one and a half years and
SAIDs jan it's a little short entry January thirteenth, nineteen
ninety four. Four forty five pm. I got the job

(04:10):
at Fuel. I start on Wednesday. I feel good about it.
Nice to tell Maty. It was good to see Kevin.
I don't know any of that means, and I was
gonna go ahead. I never even heard Fuel. I wasn't
gonna sound familiar. Well when I read January fourteenth, nine
ninety four, so I know all my jobs. I remember

(04:31):
all the jobs I ever had by Fuel. January fourteenth,
nineteen ninety four, after four pm, Kim from Fuel called
this morning and said told me not to quit my
job because they had heard something disturbing about me. I
have been fraught with worry all day. I'm on the
way now. I'm racking my brain on who told them what.

(04:55):
I wonder if ken or Land said I was suspected
of stealing, or if I said anything to somebody that
offended them or hurt them. I pissed. If I lose
this job because of this, fuck them? And why do
they insist on seeing me in person? Well, let's go,
let's go to the next one. January fourteenth, nine tety four,

(05:16):
after five pm, I was refused a job because Kim
told him he wouldn't rehire me. I was pissed. She
tried to be very nice to me, and I couldn't
hate her. She really seems to like me. But I
couldn't understand why she couldn't reconsider and give me a chance.
So I was like, Okay, I am so disappointed. Well,
then Kevin gave me the number to his girlfriend Jennifer's

(05:39):
job and told me to call tomorrow. One door closes
on what opens maybe the next. It's like, because I
was like, I didn't work at a job called fuel.
I didn't work there eat these little menal jobs. So
a little side note to give you some real life stuff.
I used to work at a place called Cafe sal

(06:01):
mcgundy in San Francisco and it was a suit place.
It was like soup and sandwiches whatever. I just did
the cashering apart, I just catched. IU was in front
of the cashier. It was in a big food court
and I literally I was the cashier, one of the cashiers,
and there was some money missing from the safe. Now

(06:23):
I had I had no access to the safe, but
they were suspecting a couple of us. This happens, and
you know, these kind of jobs because of food service
and retail I've been stealing several times, never proven, never
nothing ever happening, But i mean, just it's all. It
just comes up sometimes. Not the only person, but anybody
who's Winter's kind of job. Was kind of jobs when

(06:46):
they won't pay that much, they work you to death.
There is some stealing go off and people are rob
ripping them off for things and that. But I'm like,
I never I always see my job. Seriously, I'm like, no,
I need to steal from people. It wasn't even like
I mean we're talking little amounts of money, they're like
fifty bucks or whatever. I'm like, that wasn't me anyway.
I was suspected, but I wasn't fired. Nothing was brought

(07:07):
up against me like that. So I always tell people,
I'm like, so I'm pissed at that person said he
stud you know, checks that he wouldn't hire me back.
It's like, okay, well there we go. He wouldn't hire
me back, so that's why he said. That's why he
said now and they just took it. I'm like, I'm
so glad I'm working out of those fields anymore. I'm

(07:29):
so glad, so glad, But that was third. That's my
life thirty years ago. It's San Francis guy, you know,
and I'm just like, there you have. The kid's more
to come. So uh, we have one, two, three more
episodes till the one hundredth episode coming up. I'm working
on something big. Touch you guys next time.
