(00:02):
I love getting emails messages from fansof my work that her nice of course,
and and I got one recently froma woman who purchased one of my
latest books called The Manati End ofthe Street. She loved the book and

(00:22):
was asking where is part two?Which part two is coming? And writing
it now, I'll stay tuned. But she also asked, you know,
she goes, I can see thisis a big giant novel. I don't
see any novels in your repertoire. And I said, yes, I said,
and you, I said, youlisten to my show, the Really

(00:43):
Short Story Podcast, right, justgoes. I just started listening to her.
I said, okay, well there'sI actually explain early on why I
do this, But I said, you know what, I'm gonna do a
show, and so you know whoyou are. Yeah, I want to
say your name, but you knowwho you are. But I'm going to
kind of just elaborate on why I'dlike these really short stories. One.

(01:07):
I was looking to do something differentthan everybody else. I said, I
want to be the James Patterson ofshort story world. And I think I
think I self declare myself now.Yes, oh, I've over sixty something
books. So I say, yes, my books, they may go as
high as one hundred and something pages, but that's it. They're all under

(01:27):
Many of my books are twenty fivethirty pages long, forty pages long,
and that's it. So they're andthey're easy to pick up, easy to
read, that kind of stuff. But I wanted I wanted to focus on
something that I know. I kneweven eight nine years ago when I started.

(01:48):
It was because as time marches on, people are going to really look
for quick content. When I started, they're doing more. I mean,
there was fine, there's six minute, six second videos and the equibuous in
direct and development, it was likethis, you know, nothing was more
than nothing was more than ten minuteslong shows, So we'd people are trying

(02:14):
to adapt to attention spans that arenow shorter and shorter. But I also
I know people who it's like gettinga book, I want to grab something,
you know, traveling, running around, reading on trains. They like

(02:34):
these little almost like so they're notquite like comic books, but they're like
a cousin to a comic book becauseit's it's they're frequent. I can release
through it for books a month andyou can read them all and they're fun,
they're easy to read. So therewere so many reasons why I did
that, but I just I reallyenjoy the format. It's not as easy

(02:59):
as one may think. One maythink what many may think, well it's
less words, so there you go, but no, you have to have
to it is, well, no, it is less words. Well,
however it is, are you actuallymaking sense? It's a succinct. Is
there a story? Does it flow? There's there's their beginning, middle end.

(03:21):
I mean also the whole thing. And I really enjoy I'm big on
the cliffhanger, so I really enjoywriting something leaving you wanting more, coming
out the next product leaving you wantingmore. I have a few books that

(03:42):
are self contained also, but thereI really like this. You know,
you're on the plane, you're ona train, you on a cruise or
on a you know you're going towork, you grab you want to change
these books. A couple of thesebooks. You throw them your purse,
your backpack, your shoulder bag.And you know, I'm proud of many

(04:02):
of my books that I write andco write. They're either really good.
I really do, and I justthink people you know, should who don't
like who don't want to commit toreading a big, huge story, check

(04:24):
out me and others like me whowrite these shorter stories. We're still giving
you content. We're still giving youIt's a little more bite size, yes,
but you still ingest a story aboutarchaeologists, or a story about a
crazy family, or a story aboutclones. I mean, whatever I'm writing,

(04:50):
taking pill, there is something aboutthat that and telling it in a
shorter format that just excite and itquite. It's a little easier too,
in terms of my schedule. Ican I can write three or photose books
and set up aside and then releaseyou know it. Just it's just there

(05:11):
is I think there is. Thereis fun in the shorter format, the
the quicker storytelling. You have toget there faster. You still put twists
and turns in the storytelling. Thereare things you still do, but it's

(05:36):
just it's good. You're like,Okay, I did that. I read
that. That was nice, thatwas fun, and about your about your
day. I said, I amwriting a novel because folks have been asking
for one, so I am writingone. Not fun. I'm I'm having

(05:57):
a good time kind of because Ido like the show I'm a shorter for
that person. But because people areasking me, I motivated to do this,
and I hope it's good. I'mputting my heart and soul into it,
so hopefully it'll turn it off fine. But in the meantime, when
we can be putting out these thesesmaller books for you y'all to read or

(06:23):
get on Kindle or whatever. Uh. And of course my audio dramas are
also shorter scripts. You pack alot in sometimes and and we have like
nice fun seasons of stuff that youcan listen to. I mean, people
are like driving, they're going tosay gym, they're taking walks there on

(06:46):
the bus. There are subways likethese are these are cute little just throw
them on and there you go,and it's you see about enough time as
your as your trip. I amlooking to do audio at some point,
so stay tuned for that. Itworks in an rol. Some of my

(07:09):
books have been read audio wise, and they're featured on this program, the
Racehort Story podcast Go Back in Time. You can see so that everybody,
this guy Robert Raith, who Ilove, completely read those for me and
he did a great job. Butyeah, so I wanna think anybody who
ever, anybody who listens to thispodcast buys a book or whatever. I'm

(07:32):
just so happy. I wanna continueto conquer the genre of flash fiction,
micro fiction, sudden fiction, whateveryou wanna call it, the short story
world. I'm gonna continue. There'ssome really good short storiests out there.
There's some chatwa so there's some greatones. Check them out. I'm gonna
