(00:25):

Happyology is one of my newest programsthat I offer and which is really
focused on the study of happiness. Some of you may have seen my TED
talk that I did and guess whatthat was about. Yep, happiness and

(00:45):
it was an amazing process and theend result is something that I'm very proud
of, although I haven't watched ityet, so you can go check it
out. It's on YouTube. Justtype in my name there, or you
and type in go to the tedx page and you should see the talk
there. But nevertheless, I wantto thank you for joining me here on

(01:07):
the relevancy factor of verondevelopment inspired podcast. Guys, it's been a minute since
I've done a podcast, it reallyhas. So I've been podcasting since twenty
thirteen, ten years on and off, and it's just one of those things
that I really really do enjoy doingand so for this year and beyond,

(01:30):
we're doing things a little bit different. And so you're gonna get me from
this aspect. If you're looking forsomeone to work with for therapy, life
coaching, if you're looking for aspeaker, a mindset speaker, a happiness
guru, or a business strategist, that is me. That is who you
need to connect with. This isveronebellopment myself so that I can help you

(01:53):
in whatever the facet It is thecore of what I do in all areas
is really to serve. I loveserving a seeing you win. I love
seeing you prosper. And I loveto be in a position to where I
can provide information as much as Ican information of value to those that I
am called to serve and whatever thecapacity is. So on this particular platform,

(02:15):
you're gonna hear all things happiness.I believe that happiness is a choice.
Happiness is a choice. You canchoose happiness. And now you're like,
what aren't we just happy? Yep, you are, but sometimes you
go through things and you're not sohappy. Right. I was doing an
interview yesterday and I can't wait torelease that to you all But one of

(02:38):
the things that we talked about was, of course happiness. But when you
aren't happy and you aren't on andyou're feeling depressed and you're feeling sad and
you're feeling down, how do youget over that? Right? So,
I don't want you to think thatI'm like, oh, yeah, in
the clouds, you know, everythingis all hunky dory. No, I
do know and do believe that everyonegoes through something in life. Everyone nobody's

(03:00):
exempt, not even me, Sowe all go through things. But while
you're going through things, you canstill choose something that's going to bring you
some type of pleasure or some typeof happiness so that you can journey and
whatever is happening in a way that'sgoing to make life a little bit easier
and remove some of the stress ofwhatever it is that you're going through.

(03:20):
And so that's a whole other subject. That's not why I'm one today.
I want to thank you guys againfor joining me here. And you know,
today's podcast is really inspired because ofa lot of things that I'm dealing
with right now. And one thing, and one thing for sure is that

(03:44):
life is going to life right Iknow it does. It does, and
so we really need tools to helpus journey along. So for anyone that
knows me and has worked with meand hire me as either a therapist or
a life coach or as a businessof strategist, you guys know that I'm

(04:05):
all about. It's really I'm hereto journey with you throughout life, right.
And so with that being said,it's important for us to all know
when and what season that we thatwe're in. When do we need to
let someone go, When do weneed to let something go? What season

(04:28):
are we in in our relationships atthis point? And I really just have
been thinking about this, and I'mlike, hmm, this is something I
really want to speak to the massesabout. Is really being able to determine
what season you're in. I thinkthat's one of the keys to life that
so many of us overlook. Weoverlook, right, we overlook what season

(04:53):
we're in. We overlook and stayin relationships that are dead and over way
too long. Sometimes we exit toosoon. And so at this point,
for this particular podcast today, Ireally just want to talk about the blessing
and knowing what season that you arein. For many they can sense a

(05:15):
change in season. Really just bya knowing like you have an awareness,
a knowledge point, you know, just knowing that you reach this change in
season for yourself and for some theymay notice that the weather changes. And
with the weather changing, you maynotice it in the trees and the grass
in your yard. Your flowers aredying, or your flowers are beginning to

(05:39):
bloom. It could be just someonethat likes to bird watch and you see
different birds come throughout the year.Right, So I think the saying is
birds fly south for the winter. So when you see that big I don't
know what it's called, whereas abunch of birds flying together and they're heading
south and you know, okay,it's about to get cold. For some

(06:02):
it's by the actual announcement. Soyou look at TV and you see that
the weather has changed, and perhapsthat is you. Then for some it's
simply because the weather did change, like it feels cold or it's starting to
feel warm outside. So you canbe on any one of those gamuts,

(06:26):
like you can be any be onany end of the spectrum as it relates
to the weather changing or just theseason and where you are and how you
recognize it in general. But Iwant to beg you to avoid being a
person that realizes that the weather haschanged or the season has changed, because

(06:47):
you can feel it. The weatheris different. It's hotter outside, or
it's colder outside. And this personreally is a person that's kind of behind
and realizing what's happening. And itdoesn't mean that it's a bad thing,
it's just what is a lesson inthis? So if you are that person
and you're like, oh, okay, yeah, it's spring out, it's

(07:09):
spring now? Oh yeah, one, where have you been? What's been
going on in life? But thentwo, really don't beat yourself up.
It's okay. God gives us warnings. He really does, And so I
want to redirect whatever you're thinking, whatever you're feeling, or what have you.
Two, just knowing that there isa warning. So we just have

(07:32):
to get to a place of realizeit and recognize and what are those warnings?
What are those symptoms? What arethose red flags that's popping up to
let us know that the season haschanged. So we're reminded in first Thessalonians
five and one, and it saysthis is from the ES and V version.

(07:54):
Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need
to have anything written to you.And this simply means you will have a
knowing. There's no need for anything. God is saying, there's no need
for me to write anything to youbecause you can sense, you know when

(08:16):
the time and the seasons are changing. God will warn you. He will
notify you of where you are inlife, whether it be a physical change
or a change as it relates tonature, or whether it be a relationship
change that you're in. So payattention to that knowing. You have that

(08:37):
knock, that you may have thatred flag that you may have that intuition
of you know this has really cometo an end or yeah it's starting.
I don't know. I just feellike the weather is getting ready to change.
I can usually just I just there'sjust a knowing that I have when
the weather is changing, even whenas it relates to like when it's about

(09:00):
to become warm, I can tellif we're going to have in early spring
even before we do, and likethere's just a knowing that comes with that.
Now, for many the season thatI'm referencing is a change in relationship.
Just to kind of pull this allthe way in is a change in
relationship all relationships weren't built to lastforever. So you know the old adage

(09:26):
of you know, there's a seasonand reason for everything, right, So,
knowing that all relationships weren't built tolast forever, there was an exchange
needed to make that relationship work andto kind of help you gain whatever the
lesson was for that particular relationship, whether it be professional, whether it be

(09:48):
romantic, whether it be even familydynamics, whatever that is a friendship.
Sometimes when we stay in a seasontoo long a relationship, when we stay
in the season too long, weare forced out because the season will change
on us, right, and sonext thing you know, it's fall,
or next thing you know, youand that person got beef. So whatever

(10:11):
it is, when we are forcedthere's usually pain that follows that. So
think about the pressure with forcing somethinganything. It could be you're trying to
force a round peg into a squarehole, or just use that as an
example. When you force something, there's great pressure, right, you have

(10:33):
to really press down on something. And so just to imagine that if it's
not the right fit, whether itbe any object or whatever it is in
a physical form and a human form, then there's pain that's going to follow
that because it's not the best fitand because you are having to apply pressure

(10:54):
to force something into place. Right. So, with all of that being
said, my dear friends, oneof the keys in life is to know
when a season is beginning to changein your life. For many, we
will just know. You'll just havea knowing, as I mentioned before.

(11:16):
For some, you know, butyou may be afraid to move because of
the fear of the unknown. Likeyou may need to transition, but you
may not know how to transition. You're afraid of what may come because of
whatever the change is, whether it'sa change in your career. I'm picking
up that someone's listening that needs tochange their career. Let this be your

(11:39):
warning, your red flag, andjust confirming if you needed that, that
it's time for you to go aheadand make that transition. But for whatever
it is, you have a knowingthat comes with that. So even though
you are having that fear, I'mgoing to challenge you to press beyond the

(12:00):
fear, Press beyond the fear, and step in two whatever God has called
you into, whatever that destiny isthat He has for you, whatever that
next step is that you need totake, remove the fear. Because God
has told us not to fear,so there's no need for you to fear.
You don't have to fear. Weare in a season right now overall

(12:26):
as believers, for those our believers, where we really have to live out
whatever you study. I study theBible, but you have to really live
out the words that are in theBible. You have to be the words.
Right. So if God says tofear not for I am with you,
then what are you fearing? Sothat almost tells us to we have

(12:50):
to be in a position to andhave the courage really to ignore our emotions
at times, because our emotions canbe really fickle. They can be very
what's the word I'm looking for,Uh, just just really tricky, right,
So they can make you feel youfeel one way, although that may

(13:11):
be an a that may be anadequate feeling, that may be an accurate
feeling, but it doesn't mean thatthat's how you need to carry out your
life. So if you're feeling fear, and that's normal, like, you
can have the emotion, but don'tlet the emotion drive your action. Right.
So it's almost like you have toreprogram your whole mind to get yourself
to where you need to be.So if you're feeling fear, but you

(13:35):
have a knowing that's there, thenI'm going to challenge you to go against
the fear and to follow that knowing, yeah, choosing happiness. So that's
the message I have for you all. This was on me really heavy today
and I was determined to get thisout to you all. There's a lot

(13:58):
more that I'm bringing to you all. Is so, so so good to

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
