that's new, Hey girl, Hey, welcome aboard here. You're gonna hear

(00:25):
me for this season talk about andgoing forward, talk a lot about Happyology.
Happyology is one of my newest programsthat I offer and which is really
focused on the study of happiness. Some of you may have seen my TED
talk that I did and guess whatthat was about. Yep, happiness and

(00:45):
it was an amazing process and theend result is something that I'm very proud
of, although I haven't watched ityet, so you can go check it
out. It's on YouTube. Justtype in my name there, or you
can type in go to the tedx page and you should see the talk
there. But nevertheless, I wantto thank you for joining me here on

(01:07):
the relevancy factor of verondevelopment inspired podcast. Guys, it's been a minute since
I've done a podcast, it reallyhas. So I've been podcasting since twenty
thirteen, ten years on and off, and it's just one of those things
that I really really do enjoy doing. And so for this year and beyond,

(01:30):
we're doing things a little bit different. And so you're gonna get me
from this aspect. If you're lookingfor someone to work with for therapy,
life coaching, if you're looking fora speaker, a mindset speaker, a
happiness guru, or a business strategist, that is me. That is who
you need to connect with. Isverondebelloment myself so that I can help you

(01:53):
in whatever the face. It isthe core of what I do in all
areas is really to serve. Ilove serving a seeing you win. I
love seeing you prosper. And Ilove to be in a position to where
I can provide information as much asI can information of value to those that
I am called to serve and whateverthe capacity is. So on this particular

(02:15):
platform, you're gonna hear all thingshappiness. I believe that happiness is a
choice. Happiness is a choice. You can choose happiness. And now you're
like, what aren't we just happy? Yep, you are, but sometimes
you go through things and you're notso happy. Right. I was doing
an interview yesterday and I can't waitto release that to you all. But

(02:38):
one of the things that we talkedabout was of course happiness. But when
you aren't happy and you aren't onand you're feeling depressed and you're feeling sad
and you're feeling down, how doyou get over that? Right? So,
I don't want you to think thatI'm like, oh, yeah,
in the clouds, you know, everything is all hunky dory. No,
I do know and do believe thateveryone goes through something in life. Everyone

(03:00):
nobody's exempt, not even me.So we all go through things. But
while you're going through things, youcan still choose something that's going to bring
you some type of pleasure or sometype of happiness so that you can journey
and whatever is happening in a waythat's going to make life a little bit
easier and remove some of the stressof whatever it is that you're going through.

(03:20):
And so that's a whole other subject. That's not why I'm one today.
I want to thank you guys againfor joining me here. And you
know, today's podcast is really inspiredbecause of a lot of things that I'm
dealing with right now. And onething, and one thing for sure is

(03:43):
that life is going to life, right I know it does. It does,
And so we really need tools tohelp us journey along. So for
anyone that knows me and has workedwith me and hire me as either a
therapist or a life coach or asa business of strategist, you guys know

(04:04):
that I'm all about. It's reallyI'm here to journey with you throughout life,
right. And so with that beingsaid, it's important for us to
all know when and what season thatwe that we're in. When do we
need to let someone go, Whendo we need to let something go?

(04:27):
What season are we in in ourrelationships at this point? And I really
just have been thinking about this, and I'm like, hmm, this is
something I really want to speak tothe masses about. Is really being able
to determine what season you're in.I think that's one of the keys to
life that so many of us overlook. We overlook, right, we overlook

(04:51):
what season we're in. We overlookand stay in relationships that are dead and
over way too long, and sometimeswe exit too soon. And so at
this point, for this particular podcasttoday, I really just want to talk
about the blessing and knowing what seasonthat you are in. For many they

(05:15):
can sense a change in season reallyjust by a knowing like you have an
awareness, a knowledge point, youknow, just knowing that you reach this
change in season for yourself and forsome they may notice that the weather changees.
And with the weather changing, youmay notice it in the trees and
the grass in your yard. Yourflowers are dying, or your flowers are

(05:38):
beginning to bloom. It could bejust someone that likes to bird watch and
you see different birds come throughout theyear, right, So I think the
saying is birds fly south for thewinter. So when you see that big
I don't know what it's called, whereas a bunch of birds flying together and

(05:59):
they're heading south and you know, okay, it's about to get cold.
For some it's by the actual announcement. So you look at TV and you
see that the weather has changed, and perhaps that is you. Then for
some it's simply because the weather didchange, like it feels cold or it's

(06:19):
starting to feel warm outside. Soyou can be on any one of those
gamuts, like you can be anybe on any end of the spectrum as
it relates to the weather changing orjust the season and where you are and
how you recognize it in general. But I want to beg you to avoid

(06:42):
being a person that realizes that theweather has changed or the season has changed,
because you can feel it. Theweather is different. It's hotter outside
or it's colder outside. And thisperson really is a person that's kind of
behind and realizing what's happening. Andit doesn't mean that it's a bad thing,

(07:03):
it's just what is a lesson inthis? So if you are that
person and you're like, oh,okay, yeah, it's spring out,
it's spring now? Oh yeah, one, where have you been? What's
been going on in life? Butthen two, really don't beat yourself up.
It's okay. God gives us warnings. He really does, And so

(07:23):
I want to redirect whatever you're thinking, whatever you're feeling, or what have
you too, just knowing that thereis a warning. So we just have
to get to a place to realizeit and recognize it. What are those
warnings? What are those symptoms? What are those red flags that's popping up
to let us know that the seasonhas changed. So we're reminded in first

(07:46):
Thessalonians five and one, and itsays this is from the ES and V
version. Now concerning the times andthe seasons, brothers, you have no
need to have anything written to you. And this simply means you will have

(08:07):
a knowing. There's no need foranything God to say, and there's no
need for me to write anything toyou because you can since you know when
the time and the seasons are changing, God will warn you. He will
notify you of where you are inlife, whether it be a physical change
or a change as it relates tonature, or whether it be a relationship

(08:31):
change that you're in. So payattention to that knowing you have, that
knock, that you may have, that red flag that you may have that
intuition of you know this has reallycome to an end or yeah it's starting.
I don't know. I just feellike the weather is getting ready to
change. I can usually just Ijust there's just a knowing that I have

(08:56):
when the weather is changing, evenwhen as it relates to like when it's
about to become warm, I cantell if we're going to have in early
spring even before we do, andlike there's just a knowing that comes with
that. Now, for many theseason that I'm referencing is a change in
relationship. Just to kind of pullthis all the way in, is a

(09:18):
change in relationship all relationships weren't builtto last forever. So you know the
old adage of you know, there'sa season and a reason for everything,
right, So, knowing that allrelationships weren't built to last forever, there
was an exchange needed to make thatrelationship work and to kind of help you

(09:39):
gain whatever the lesson was for thatparticular relationship, whether it be professional,
whether it be romantic, whether itbe even family dynamics, whatever that is
a friendship. Sometimes when we stayin a season too long a relationship,
when we stay in a season toolong, we are forced out because the

(10:03):
season will change on us, right, and so next thing you know,
it's fall, or next thing youknow, you and that person got beef.
So whatever it is when we areforced there's usually pain that follows that.
So think about the pressure with forcingsomething anything. It could be you're
trying to force a round peg intoa square hole, or just use that

(10:28):
as an example. When you forcesomething, there is great pressure, right,
you have to really press down onsomething, and so just to imagine
that if it's not the right fit, whether it be any object or whatever
it is in a physical form,in a human form, then there's pain

(10:48):
that's going to follow that because it'snot the best fit and because you are
having to apply pressure to force somethinginto place. Right. So, with
all of that being said, mydear friends, one of the keys in
life is to know when a seasonis beginning to change in your life.

(11:11):
For many, we will just know. You'll just have a knowing, as
I mentioned before. For some, you know, but you may be afraid
to move because of the fear ofthe unknown. Like you may need to
transition, but you may not knowhow to transition. You're afraid of what
may come because of whatever the changeis, whether it's a change in your

(11:33):
career. I'm picking up that someone'slistening that needs to change their career.
Let this be your warning, yourred flag, and just confirming if you
needed that, that it's time foryou to go ahead and make that transition.
But for whatever it is, youhave a knowing that comes with that.
So even though you are having thatfear, I'm gonna challenge you to

(11:58):
press beyond and the fear, Pressbeyond the fear, and step in two.
Whatever God has called you into, whatever that destiny is that He has
for you, whatever that next stepis that you need to take, remove
the fear because God has told usnot to fear, So there's no need

(12:18):
for you to fear. You don'thave to fear. We are in a
season right now overall as believers, for those our believers where we really have
to live out whatever you study.I study the Bible, but you have
to really live out the words thatare in the Bible. You have to

(12:41):
be the words. Right. Soif God says to fear not for I
am with you, then what areyou fearing? So that almost tells us
to we have to be in aposition to and have the courage really to
ignore our emotions at times, becauseour emotions can be really fickle. They
can be very what's the word I'mlooking for, Uh, just just really

(13:07):
tricky, right, So they canmake you feel you feel one way,
although that may be a that maybe an adequate feeling, that may be
an accurate feeling, but it doesn'tmean that that's how you need to carry
out your life. So if you'refeeling fear and it's normal, like,
you can have the emotion, butdon't let the emotion drive your action.
Right, So it's almost like youhave to reprogram your whole mind to get

(13:31):
yourself to where you need to be. So if you're feeling fear, but
you have a knowing that's there, then I'm going to challenge you to go
against the fear and to follow thatknowing, yeah, choosing happiness. So
that's the message I have for youall. This was on me really heavy

(13:52):
today and I was determined to getthis out to you all. There's a
lot more that I'm bringing to youall. Is oh so so good to

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
