triple digits at the Mandalay Bay EventCenter in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday
night. Two titles on the line, You'll kick in the Fighter nine concludes,
and the srn's most fights savvy andforward thinking minds are here to argue
(01:19):
about it for you a pleasure.I'm your host, Jordan Green. I
am the Bill superfoot Wallace of thisplace. I'm joined by a cast of
Kathy Longs, Mister t J DeSanis, Lefty Sriama, Jeff at Concarnis
Sound, Jeff Sherwood and Greig Savage. No Welcome to mcnables arena. Thanks,
but actually no, it's actually moreapropo than than it would have been
(01:42):
a few months ago. Kathy Longis actually going to fight in the mazing
Yeah she's she's like eight hundreds, but she is in fact going to fight
in the name. Wow. Yeah, I'm not even I'm not even sure
like how to feel about that, but I mean to to her credit.
Far as horrible may have been oncolor Concary for one, in her day,
(02:02):
she could fight. However her dayof course, Um, you know,
the Reformation just about not exactly ayoung woman, fry one, This
is true. It's not only ayoung woman. He's not a young man.
(02:23):
He's both. So we I alwayssort of have to engage your guys
in interest and and see whether ornot any UFC ninety x or whatever is
going to be particularly satisfying. Isit says to assume that even even if
you don't buy into the oh UFCone hundred, even if you can acknowledge
that there's been about one hundred andfor forty events at this point, are
(02:45):
we are? We certainly excited?Jeff, Jeff thinks his car sucks.
I can't wait for the George SaintPierre and can't wait. Oh so you're
so in honesty, you are,in fact, legitimately excited. Yeah,
for that fight and the rest.I just don't I just you know,
(03:06):
Jordan, I mean not Jordan, but TJ and Savage have been giving me
a hard time. But I haven'tsaid that I hate the card or anything.
I just said that, you know, they keep trying to build these
cards up. This is the biggestand best card ever. Blah blah blah,
And I'm not that into it.I mean, yeah, I love
the George, Saint Pierre and alwas fighting. I love that they're one
(03:30):
of the eleven ain't bad. Ibelieve that's how the neat Little Song went.
I like to hockey. I'm Adulturefight as well. Eleven even better.
We're improving that bad and I haven'tsoon hit them in Doze alone.
Who knows where we're going for that? Yeah, Greg, you're normally our
most curmudgeonly. How do you feel? Look Fen, I love it.
(03:53):
It was a girl I would tryto marry. That's well, I feel
I feel you might be being abit more hyperbolic than then I would have
anticipated, But I'm glad that youcan shows enthusiasms. No, I like
the whole main event. Uh,you know, all the televised fights are
pretty solid. Um, I thinkBitch is smoke Policiago better side bat.
(04:15):
I think you got some pretty competitivelives. Wow, we didn't know that
coming under this. Well let's let'slet's not act as though it's you know,
buy itself in a category of mismatcheson the card. But I'm glad
that at least, um, Idon't. I'm glad that you guys are
at least in tune and excited forthe USC one hundred. I would have
been worried had you not been.Of course, it's not just our takes
(04:41):
on things. Want your calls forfor emails as well. One eight hundred
nine six seven nine two four fouris the number to phone in over the
next two hours. Of course, you can email your humble moderator myself,
Jay Breen at a shirtdog dot com. I can We're all over this technology
thing. I'm like rich Ice NowI can even accept your tweets. Put
it all classic screen. Yeah, yeah, amongst yourselves. Decide who's Rod
(05:04):
Woodson and who's Jamie Dukes. ButI'm I'm all over the rich Ice center
role today, so you can eveneven tweet with that M we go,
we go that extra sort of amile for you to engage you with fantastic
technology. One email I sort ofwanted to be before we jumped into things
head first, and something I dothink is interesting and salient and plays a
(05:30):
role in sort of maybe our excitement, but certainly I think casual excitement for
US one hundred. Terry from Dallasright soon. What do you think about
this week's sports news cycle impacting USTone hundred. I'm sure the event is
still going to do a really strongvibrate with all the big stars in play,
but with big trades happening in theNBA, the death of Steve McNair
and Lance armand Strong doing so wellto tour to France, do you think
the UST one hundred is getting shortshipped from the sports media? No,
(05:56):
No, I haven't seen anything onESPN this week about it, so maybe
a little bit. Someone someone hadsaid that they did like some stuff on
Sports Nation on ESPN two or somethinglike that. But part of the interruption
talked about it yesterday. I thinkdid they Yeah, at length? In
fact, they were with they werewith the one point five million dollars one
point five million by rate projection. They thought it could do that, and
(06:17):
they said it's going to be thefourth biggest sport in the country. Wow,
interesting, Annik is doing Annek isdoing US sports center spots today.
So so it's not I mean,it's not as if that's different from anything
else. By the way, onlyabout not how many people can honestly care
about the Tour de Friends to whereit's going to take away from us UFC
one hundred dip. Well, it'snot a caring about the Tour de France.
(06:40):
The fact that that writers stuff,Yeah, it's the fact that writers
and stuff latch on the lands.I think I think that there's definitely a
strength to it, because really sports, the sports news cycles built on not
not what not what's of an absolutevalue, not what is actually interesting,
but just in order what is mostinteresting. And obviously I don't think you
(07:00):
can argue that the death of SteveMcNair and Lance Armstrong's resurgeons have negatively impacted
the UFC, because if there wasnothing else happening this week, if it
was Jeff sort of the NBA trades, I think they would have had no
choice but to just keep attention uponus because it really would be nothing else.
M Well, the one thing Iwill say though, is if anyone's
(07:25):
really really mad about the media covers, just leak Gary Shaw head to head
with UFC on showtime with really hismost prized client at this point in time,
Vic Darchinian, who's going to becomeprobably a three division titlist in boxing,
and no one cares. They care. In Australia where they made the
(07:46):
decision to put the Darchinian fight onand not show UFC one hundred for two
or three days, well that's that'sabout the only place unfortunately. I mean
Vic Darchinian correct, he's going totie Jeff Fennix record his former trainer if
if he becomes a division titlists. But other than other in Australia where they
really get um in arms for theirboxers, you know, like Danny Green,
(08:07):
Nanthony Lindy and are like major sortof like it's like race riot when
they fought and just like a culturalincident. But I'm really not I'm not
too sure that Gary Shaw couldn't bejust a little bit happy when it comes
to the attention that has been heapedupon his boxing match, which is going
(08:30):
to fall upon on watching Eyes comeSaturday night. All right, I suppose
we should get into this round tablestuff as of course one nine seven nine
two four four number to phone mJabreen at shirdog dot com to email in
whatever's on your mind, whether ornot you want to prognosticate the main events,
or give your take on whether ornot you think Thiago Alvez will make
(08:50):
weight, all those sort of funthings, and of course you are one
hundred and forty character. Thoughts areassendable to Twitter dot com. By the
way, when our weigh ins,I know, we get a little blurb
up the site. Well they tendto be since they're when they're in Las
Vegas, they tend to be rightas we finish. So okay, I
really have four pm Pacific time.I know, for whatever reason, they're
(09:13):
not layering on direct TV until seventhirty Eastern. I don't understand why.
But what what channel on Direct TV? On one? One on one?
All right, I'll check that out. Oh yeah, so TJ did you
say four Pacific? Four pm Pacific? Yep? Ah, so we actually
have an hour buffer? Okay?Is that two hour buffer? Two hours?
Yeah? So you guys, won'twe won't. We won't cut into
(09:35):
Waynes this time around, so you'llget to a brief reprieve from listening to
using you and go and catch asandwich or whatever it is that you do
with your time, or we cansee the sandwich during the show. Yeah,
that too, all right. Sothe nasty, niggling order of the
scums not very fun for the restof you, but nonetheless we're really sort
of mediocrity all around. The lasttime around for the Ultimate Letter nine finale,
(09:58):
Slash Strike four Black Bellots wore tj de Santis and dead last,
so that the deadest of last eightand seven twenty three points, but as
I said, not the deadest oflast place since Jack and kind of style
eight and seven way with twenty fivepoints to two points head Lucky Sera on
it less points than Jack but onefight better nine and six twenty four points,
and Greg Savage a respectable ten andfive twenty one points fine for the
(10:22):
lead, myself and Jeff Sherwood withten and five and twenty seven points,
though I do conceive that really perhapsJeff performed a bit better given than the
fact that didn't do so Han straightforest and actually had to text me his
his stried forest picks right as theevent started, but did very very well
on the ultimate five or nine.So after a string of mediocre performances,
good job, yeah, thank you, thank you, it's about time.
(10:48):
So for our humultive two thousand andnine. Myself Jordan bring Stone in the
lead one hundred and sixty and fiftyfive seven four four percent, TJ.
De Santis in second place one fortythree and seventy three sixty nine percent,
Jeff Sherwood one twenty seven and sixtysixty seven nine percent, just behind,
catching catching up on his sts.Homeboy, Greg Savage one thirty one sixty
(11:09):
three sixty seven point five percent,Lufty Serioma distancing himself from his other beat
Dunk Counterpart one forty three and seventytwo sixty six point five percent, and
in last Jack in Turnstile one onethirty nine and seventy six sixty four point
six percent. And in the PumiceWorld Savage, good, I have I
have broken the four hundred plateau fourhundred and ten per one point nine one
(11:33):
points per fight Teacher to stance aair respectable. They're three hundred and seventy
four for one point eight two let'sper fight. Jeff Sherwood three sixteen one
point six nine points per fight.Greg Avage three hundred and ten one point
six to per fight, even justbehind Luffy siam At three forty three one
point five nine percent and predictably inlast place. Jack Cronisile three thirty four
one five five points per fight.Your microphone's in last place today, Jordan.
(11:58):
I know there's something. There's something, but it had been during the
break. I'll have to restart anddo all that stuff. I said that
this always, this always happens,Like I say, when we get on
air, I said, there's somethingup, and I say, I think
I think something's wrong, and wego no, no, it's all good.
Let's let's go forward. And thenfifteen minutes in the show, everyone
goes, you sound horrible, andI go, I would I would have
(12:18):
suspected as such. We'll figure itout. How many how many per fights
did I have? Um? One? Five? Five? Oh jesus,
all right, thanks our our eat. No. I just wanted to do
that per fights. Yeah, yeah, I got it. I don't think
(12:41):
anyone else did. Thank you,t j ah see it's see it's the
letter P I could have suspected becauseI can't. I can't turn down the
volume on my MIC right now.Which is the issue? I say?
Which I which I said was goingto be the issue? And again everyone
cuss forward, It's it's all good, my finally feathered friend, and I
went, oh, these people wouldn'tlie to me. Let's go. It
(13:01):
was sounding fine at first. Hesort of betrayed the listener, Oh well,
let's fight. Our evening begins inrelatively anonymous fashions, though perhaps sticking
out like a sore thumb on hiscard. He is Matt Chrice due the
fact that in February he was hainlesslyripped off by Troy Wall against Matt Veach.
(13:22):
However, inconspicuous is Shannon Gooogerty, who, in his third UFC fight,
still seems completely anonymous, despite thefact that he actually fought very gamely
against Spencer Fisher when they fought lastOctober? Am I the only person that
completely forgot that Shannon Guogerty fought SpencerFisher? The five Fighter didn't forget?
Yeah, I honestly completely forgot thatthat a fight happened until about two weeks
(13:46):
ago. Now I realized, ohhe actually he actually fought Spencer Fisher and
did it. Yeah, I wasthere. I forgot about that fight until
now, and I looked at asthe UC nineties like what I saw that
fight. Yeah, obviously it's it'ssort of a problem out of the fact
that ZUPA has so many more fightsnow. It used to be sort of
when you had that one fight thateveryone forgot about, Like I always used
to the one that always amused mewas I always forgot that Chris Brennan and
(14:09):
Gil Castillo fought at UFC thirty five, Like I just forgot that the fight
happened. But now, because ofthe volume of zupercard, there's a lot
more fights that you sort of justthink, like you're on the fight find
and you think that fight happened.Really, I think I think Googard even
went around. Yeah he Yeah,he did very well. So obviously TJ.
You're you're one of the people who, even if I needed to jog
(14:30):
your memory, you remember the factthat he did in fact have a decent
show. Again. Spencer Fisher,Well, from what I recall, I
mean, the guy in front ofme was trying to steal my phone and
throw it, but I do recallat least giving one round to Shannon Googridy.
And so how do you think hesizes up against Matt Grice who was
ripped off by Troy Wall in February. That's a holl name, by the
(14:50):
way. Now Matt Rice who wasripped off by Troy Wall in February,
fair enough. I don't think MattRice will be ripped off the Saturday night
Tomorrow night. I think he wins. I think he dictates. It's this
pace with his wrestling. He hada really, really, really good fight
with Matt Beach, and I thinkthat he's gonna be hungry. He's definitely
gonna want that win, and Ithink he finishes Shannon Gugerty in the second
(15:11):
round TKO. I would I wouldtake it. When he didn't just have
a good fight against Matt Beach whichhe got ripped off him. He had
a very good fight against Jason Blackas well. That's true. I fight
that no one got solved. ButI mean, if you go back to
two thousand and seven, the secondround of that fight round the year,
easily round of the year, likenothing I think was really close to that.
I like Matt Rice. I've actuallypicked him to win all three of
(15:33):
his fights in the UNFC. Theyhaven't all worked out like that, but
I really do think he's got somegame. But more than that, I
think the stop matchups are relatively safefor him. He's not gonna get caught
the way he against Matt Beach. He's a better wrestler than Shannon gugerdy Is
and Shannon gugerdy As. He's iswrestling to dictate. That's why he did
so well again Spencer Fisher. It'snot necessarily It's not that Googer's a bad
(15:54):
fighter, but he was able tosort of look maybe more effective than he
would have against another guy because SpencerFisher is still doesn't have the greatest takedown
defense in the world. Um,I think Matt Grice will be able to
get on top, even if it'son the feet. I think he can
land big and Gurgardy doesn't have thepower to hurt him really, but I
expect it to be more of aground battle, and I think Grice passes
guard uses his strikes and submission attemptsvery well. I'll hedge my bets.
(16:17):
I'll take a TKO in the thirdbut I do expect entertaining affairs on the
ground and Matt Grace being victorious.Greg Savage, what are you feeling,
Homie? I like Gugardy. Ithink his submission game gets it done in
here. I'm keeping the shortest streettoday. I like the good by submissions.
A second there over, he's stilldrunk. You do you have do
(16:45):
you have extra analysis to tag ontohere? Under the weather counterpart? I'm
just wondering if Matt Gryce went towent to somebody and demanded the Troy Wall
not refts fights anymore like like Rock, I would. Yeah, I know,
I guess you can now right.I mean they made that official that
(17:06):
you could actually ask. That's happeningfor a long long time. Yeah.
So, But I'm going with Grice. I think his wrestling's too good.
Um, I don't know if he'sgonna figure finished Googardy. I think he's
gonna spend a lot of time onhis back. Um, he'll be able
to slip out of a couple ofum submissions. Gosh, I can't even
(17:27):
talk. Um, he's gonna getout of some submissions. But I think
it's gonna go to the finish.I think it's gonna be a decision,
but I think Matt Gryce is gonnado enough damage keep him on his back
long enough to win the decision. Are you with that, Luffy? Si?
Do you agree with Jeff? Iagree with the decision, but I'm
gonna go with Googardy in this fight. I think he's a long one,
(17:49):
right, Savage are in trouble, wait to hear my pick. I believe
boy is actually a longer fighter thanGryce and that he'll have a reach advantage.
I believe. I'm not sure though, and he does a lot of
the work. He does a lotof his work in the clinch to be
to go from the takedowns to supposedare just going straight takedown to trying to
(18:11):
work and trying to work is jiujitsu game from there? At that point,
I think once his fight does goto the ground, then it will
for an extensive portion of this fight, Googley he will be able to score
enough points with regard to trying submissions, trying to throw on submissions after submissions,
And I don't necessarily I think Gryce'sgame, I don't know if it's
I think it's does spect enough towhere there will be enough openings for Googley
to score enough points and take adecision thanks to a submission game by the
(18:33):
end of three rounds fair jack andcounts down. Do you agree with your
beat down counterpart? Whole hardly?Do not agree with it? Might be
down counterpart? Well, whole hardlymight be a strong word, because all
I really expect back Grice to dois work that Oklahoma bred wrestling game for
three rounds and just get it doneand really shut down anything of significance from
Shannon, who, like you said, Jordan does rely quite a bit on
(18:56):
doing just that to set up thesubs that he's known for. But I
don't see Rice finishing this thing.I don't see Googedy being able to put
him in a position that if eachput him in crappy stop that or not.
You know that was all hands, and I don't see Googdy getting there.
I see Chris with a decision viarassling. I can always support a
rassling decision, especially when the wrastlinggame happens to be rather entertaining on behalf
(19:18):
of mac Rice. Our second fight, I doubt will be quite as contentious
as Ultimate Set Fighters Runner about CVGallaway takes on Ultimate Fighter eight or not
even runner up, just also ranTom Lawler, who, again sort of
like Shannon Googardy, people tend toforget that he actually exists in he was
to see. Of course, thatis just part and possible the fact that
(19:41):
everyone from the Ultimate Fighter eight gotthe extra fights in the UFC. Whether
or not Tom Lawer gets anymore,I'll obviously be contingent upon this performance.
Is anyone going to be so enterprisingas to take Tom Lawler in the fight?
No, but I'm pretty sure TomLawler's nickname should be I wish I
was Nick Thompson. Yeah, hedoes have the big beard, or had
(20:02):
it for a while, But yeah, I I have to say I do.
I do approve of the fact thatthat CB Dollaway is giving being given
time to cut his teeth and improvehis game, But I don't know if
the expensive Tom Lawler, who shouldn'treally be there. Well, I was
thinking about taking I was thinking abouttaking Tom Laller, just because I hate
(20:23):
everybody from Arizona, all right,we all, I think I think I
think I can sort of speak foreveryone and saying that if cbe Dollar was
able to deal with Jesse Taylor andMike mssons. You know, two guys
with more skills were better wrestlers thanTom Laller. It's unlikely that Tom law
(20:48):
is going to pose too much ofa problem. So give us, give
us the rundown team. How wouldyou? How would you like your cbe
Dollaway? Greg? How do youprefer your CB Dollaway? There? Jeff
Sherwood t Ko Round one, hopeyou symon Ko second? Jack and crenisoun
(21:12):
Round one Pervian necktie. Ah,very very nice going. If if I
will, I will give anyone abonus point um if they called proving necktie.
If you ever call an exotic submission, it really happens, I think
you deserve one. T J.Are you going to stick up for boy
having the fantastic Tony to SUSA inspiredsubmission game? No, I get submission
(21:34):
too. It's not going to bea proving necktie. M I'm going to
go submission in the first and thatdoes it for a clean sweep all in
in ten minutes or less for ClarenceByron Dollaway. Lally is now smiling.
Yes, even though it wasn't amatter Gozon on this card. Uh,
(21:56):
let me let me give the curseVey Glance. No no other no,
No, that's so it's it's it'sgood times to be a contest before its
one eight hundred and nine six sevennine two four four the number to four
in j Breen at shdog dot comto email in, and you can even
tweet Jabreen or Twitter dot com slashJordan Breen. I really got to get
(22:19):
consistency. It either has to beall Jordan Breen or all Jay Breen like
everywhere. Yeah, but I thinkyou should all be all Jabreen. I
don't know. I like it whenit's all spelled out. Then I can
be confused with any other Jabre inthe universe, not that there are any.
My only my only sort of likerivals Mike Breen that the NBA played
by play guy they might as spellJordan wrong though, Oh dude, I
(22:41):
don't even Oh that's that we don't. We don't have time more the next
ninety minutes for the kind of venomthat I would spew over such topics,
so we will go to happier things. One of the more fantastic fights of
the UFC one hundred undercard, DonKim got a fit pastic pressing when after
losing a highly contentious decision to CarlPreesian in January, he got it changed
(23:04):
to a no contest based on Carlparesions indiscretions in the Killer pharmaceutical world.
However, in order to stay unbeatenin the USC, he will need to
take out Cole Harburn Nova, Scotia'ssecond favorite son, t J. Grant,
who needs to go out and geta victory to close distance on Sidney
Crosby, who after winning the StanleyCup very very tough route to Hoe.
(23:27):
So obviously my analysis on this completelyworthless due to the factor TJ Grant and
I are close. So yes, impecial priorities. T J sanis, how
are you feeling? I like DonYoung, Kim stun gunn decision fair Okay,
I see this is a grappling match. Give me grappling match. I
(23:48):
see. I see Kim on topfor most of the most of the fifteen
minute regulation. So you're you're toomuch of You're too much of a team
player. You're thinking, you're lookingat the clock, You're go only got
four minutes laft. You got toget to this break and it comes at
the That's the fifth task things. It's easy. It's easy though, Becausejight
was on the Jordan Breen Show.I mean, this is an easy one
for me, okay. I that'swhy I was going to stun Gun.
(24:12):
So Jeff, is it is ita decision for the strong South Korean?
Or is he just gonna bash upyour num? I think he's I think
he's gonna bash him up, andI think it's gonna end somewhere in the
third round. T KO, GregSavage, you're being very succinct and putty
today. What short and brief powerpac annalynces do you have for us?
(24:37):
He said he was gonna be rightback, but that was a long time
ago. Yeah, Savage joining uslive from the bathroom here, Yeah,
I think so. While while Savageheads for the post one Halo left,
you say, what's good, I'mactually gonna go with TJ Grant here we
a decision. Jordan Breen curs.Be damned. I think he was actually
(25:00):
gonna be a big deal in thisfight, because looking back at the last
two fights, it seemed as ifwe're talking about Don Young Kim. Now,
it seemed as if Kim kind offaded as we as we went along
in the Brown fight, in theBrown Matt Brown fight, and in the
Parisian fight as well. He justwasn't as active. He wasn't he wasn't
as aggressive as he was coming outin that first round. If he does
that here against t. J.Grant, I think Grant's gonna be able
(25:22):
to take an advantage. He showedin the fight against Shanan that he can
stay more than active, you canstay aggressive. He can be doing something
and an endy and every point throughoutthose fifteen minutes. And I think as
this fight wears on, Kim's cardiomay fail him once again, and I
think Grant being able to take advantagethere pick up enough points and win a
decision. I like, I like, hell, that's far. We said
(25:44):
pick up enough points a couple oftimes, as though we're on some kind
of like points. Gavenger Hunt likelike we're shooting. Look, we're shoting
layups or something. Hey, weare in the second half of the year.
I mean, as long as Ican coast for the rest of the
year, I'm happy with Silver.I will take that. That's all about
right there. Hey, Look everythere's looks Silver has an aesthetic charm to
(26:08):
it all Its own, and itlooks much better than I'll just tell everybody
it's platinum. Yeah, you're talkingabout I'm coming for that silver. You
know this. Well, if youwant to get out of the basement,
Jack, give us a good pickright here. Well, I'm actually gonna
go with TJ um Grant that isnot to sand Definitely not gonna go with
(26:33):
t J to sandus in this position. Yeah, to quote the Blue Blazer
from nineteen nine or nineteen eighty eightSaturday Night made event, you better keep
looking up because you're going down.What. Wow, there's irony there when
you consider who's beneath the mask.Um. Nonetheless, t J Grant um
very interesting challenge for him here.I think that he impressed me just as
much against Choonan, not just interms of submission attempts, but the takedown
(26:56):
game. I thought he did quitewell against Cho and getting him on his
back and kind of dictating wrestling aswell as submissions. I'm not really dynamic
with his hands, but I thinkDungan Kim is more grand and pound oriented.
I don't think this is going tobe much of a standing fight no
matter what either guy comes in intendingto do. And I think Grant is
going to be more dynamic on theground. I think he's going to be
more active. He might not beon top the entire time. I sense
(27:18):
one of these fights we start toargue about, you know, submission attempts
from the bottom versus Lagh and Prayand who gets more points for what?
But I see T J. Grantstaying more active, being pretty much justice
solid and getting his fight to theground and wrestling capacity as Dungyan Kim and
doing enough to earn the decision inthe judge's eyes. So again, Brine
Krispy damned and didn't Sarah Cofflin reversethat anyway? Well, if it depends
(27:41):
on the perth, ye well,Dustin Hayes Let, Dan Hiardy, Sarah
Coauflman. We'll see if he Grantcan be one of those people. I
do like him to win. Ilike him to win on points. I
think there's a lot of positive thingsgoing for him in the fight. The
fact that, um, he's areally good wrestler, but his wrestling comes
in close, it's technical, He'sabout finishing takedowns. The good thing is
(28:03):
that Duncan Kim lets guys come rightto his body. He doesn't try to
stop guys from getting to him. They get to him, and then he
uses his strength and balance to stopthe takedowns. Here, if TJ.
Grant could finish single legs on himfrom them run his back, there's a
huge disparity in skills when it comesto the graphic department. Right after I
interviewed him, actually, TJ sentme a text message to point out that
the George Grigel gave him his brownbelt the other day and he just completely
(28:25):
forgot to mention it during the interview. So he is really really skilled on
the ground. He's going to bea black belt in relatively short order as
well. I think he's got ahuge advantage there. And even in the
stand up where Duncan Kim has morepower and he's got a lot of the
reach, but he doesn't punch straightand TJ grandstand ups really not that bad,
especially when he gets inside of guys. So I think there's a lot
of technical shortcomings that he has thatTJ. Grant can really expose. My
(28:52):
one issue and something that I thinkcould really sort of make like Jeff Sherwood's
prediction come true is the fact thatt J. Grant has really never fought
a guy who made your offense onhim when he's lost fights. You know,
Gary Wright laid on him for fifteenminutes and h Jesse Boon felt he
was on top of the entire timeand got caught in an armbar. So
(29:12):
he's never really had someone who putmassive offense on him and beat him up.
And you never really know how aguy's going to react until that happens.
But I like TJ Granted one onpoints because of the dynamism of his
grappling game. I think he cantake positions and really threatened. But I
do think that the potential is therefor what Jeff pointed out, because you
know, TJ. Grant has neverreally been hit hard and had a guy

um, yeah, that's a goodone. Not sure. Um, I

(41:36):
at MMA? Jokes Jack, didhe do something recently to reinvigorate these He's
not even I don't think he's backfrom his injury yet. He's been gone
for months. Oh what was Ithinking? He landed on his head at
WrestleMania. I would much rather seethe Undertaker verse Frock than lastly. Well
that's her. That's your two thousandand nine prediction, isn't it, Jeff,
(41:58):
Yeah, something like that. Idon't think Bobby Lashley can roll their
eyes back in his head. Imean, so that's what I'm all going
for. I need I need themigraine to stop. So we're getting back
to fights on the opposite ends ofthe offensive spectrum. John Jones spinning back
elbows hip tosses all sorts of funand wild antifis Jacob Brian. I saw
(42:22):
him punch j White once. Thinkyou sure about that? Not sure?
I mean like I thought I sawit, but now sometimes I'm not sure.
So somewhere in the middle there twobrands of offense will create something,
whether or not it's exciting. Wefall see TJ you're a close friend of
(42:45):
the POV. Make a case forwhat Jacob Browning can't do it. Show
money, show money, John BonesJones, you can win this fight.
I won't be surprised to be throughJacob ran a couple of times, but
this fight will end in a flurryof punches. I like John Jones m
probably in the second once O'Brien runsout of gas. T KO stoppage.
(43:07):
Jeff, can you stick up forKen Paulvi as a boy? I can't
really, but I won't bag onhis world class striking that I keep hearing
about like you did. Um.I don't know, man, I mean
right now, John Jones is aboutone of the most exciting things to be
watching in the UFC, and andthat is another part of UFC one hundred
(43:29):
that I'm very excited about. Hopefullywe get to see it. Well you
know, it's possible that we mightnot even get to see it, So
hopefully we get to see it.And I'm gonna take John Jones by t
KO round two. I love whenyou get fired up and excited by something
that was produced. Jeff doesn't happenoften. Jack and Curnis all with that.
(43:53):
Yeah, I'm with John Johnny Bonesround three, t ko um comparing
the wrestling pedigrees. You know,I just Jones just has all kinds of
you put a perfectly brain. Imean, you know, O'Brian just gonna
do nothing besides to go for takedowns. And Johnny Jones can do like eight
thousand more things in fifteen seconds. So he's gonna do all those. It's
(44:13):
not gonna put him away right away, but I think eventually he'll get up
to Jake. He won't have hisway in the takedown game, get flustered,
get frustrated, tire a bit,and in round three, Johnny Jones
puts him away. Tko I justI just want to say that right now
that my my ex girlfriend is justDiami and said that someone called from the
ESPN radio station onto her phone forme from Hawaii. I could I could
(44:37):
be doing a a usc one hundredbreakdown for ESPN Radio in Hawaii right now.
I chose to be here nice rightnow exactly. Okay, we're getting
scary. It could be getting ascary BJ all right. That will turn
(45:00):
the springing a show around you justsaid it. I did not you stop.
Thanks J Penjo five bucks. Ifeel like I'm going on a cross
country trip and VJ in BJ andTJ would driving station wagons. Shut up
(45:22):
somebody across the line right now, let's be let's be smed. What do
you think from John Jones and JacobBrian check his vitals. I'm actually I'm
actually interested enough for whatever this isworth to see what happens if uh Jacob
Brian actually does gonna take down, and how how Jones will handle working from
(45:44):
his back for any period of time, or whether or not that will actually
happen at all. But I don'tjust really don't think it will happen.
I'm with I think Jack on thisone, Uh John Jones t YO round
three. So far, no onehas been confident that Jacob I can make
it to the final doll are you, Greg, Yeah, I take a
(46:04):
decision the ever shipper, Greg Savage. I think I think Jacobrian will trying
this thing to a you know,a standstill and make it a brutal fight
to watch. That's why it's onthe undercard, and that's why John Jones
is not on the main main card. But I think he. I mean,
(46:24):
it's something he's done to a lotof people. He's tough, he's
strong, he's boring, So yeah, I think he can get it out
there, but he will lose hisoffersion. I'm sort of I guess I'll
go with the bed hedging and goJones t KL three. I think this
is definitely the best fight for himto attempt to finish because of the fact
that O'Brien will doesn't have anything hecan do to if Jones messes up.
(46:47):
There's no it's not like the dynamicthat really makes a lot of him,
and they fight's a dangerous where onemistaking her out of there, one mistake
against Jacobrian means you're gonna get doubleegged. So it's not exactly the end
of the world. And even ifhe ends up on his back, Jacob
Brian doesn't do a whole lot ontop. And I'm convinced that I can
only imagine John Jones would be sortof the the Uo Kim Hanson type to
(47:08):
throw some elbows from the back andget wild from guards. So I think
he's going to be in an offensiveposition no matter where he goes, and
he's always going to be outputting Jacobrin. I like the fight. I think
it's a very well made fight forJohn Jones to get out there against a
guy who's top and is gonna, you know, give him some resistance,
but doesn't really have the offense tobe threatening. Hopefully we can see him
(47:29):
keep his card, you up,keep the work right up, and maybe
even put some punches together instead ofjust relying on offense where it's a soup
plex and then two minutes later atthe spinning back elbow and then three minutes
later to spinning back kick. We'dlike to see some sustained offense. If
that happens, I do think weget a t KO here, So I
will go at Jones TKO in thethird round nine six seven nine two the

by a gray Maynard in his lastouting first. Mac dan Zig now teeters
on the brink of being the firstnon Ultimate Fighter, for the first non
Ultimate Fighter four Ultimate Fighter winner toperhaps be caught should he lose. I
like how I always have to addthat it makes it really competent now,
(48:35):
but the Ultimate Fighter four sort ofexists outside the realm of the rest of
the Ultimate Fighters. Nonetheless, evenif it's linguistically hard to spit out,
Mac dan Zig nonetheless high stakes affairneeds to put possibly win to stay in
the UFC, which would be histhird straight loss were he to drop one
to Jim Miller. Jim Miller's upfrom your area, Jack, So you're
(48:57):
gonna stick up for another guy fromyour area like you did with On Jones
and pick him. Oh yeah, for sure, Empire State representative, even
though I have no connection into NewYork whatsoever. Nonetheless, do feel Jim
Miller in this fight. Danzig isI don't know, slumping for lack of
a better word. I'm not quitesure. He certainly hasn't excelled like some
(49:19):
other Ultimate Fighter winners who have reallystate a float. He's kind of that
Kendall Grove position where I think he'sgonna be kind of in rough, choppy
waters for a while here. Ithink Danzig. He seems to have trouble
with really good, solid wrestlers likeJim Miller. The Clay We fight comes
to mind. Of course, TomSpear, he beat him at wales or
weight, but that was kind ofone where he managed to use just his
(49:40):
multiplely high level jiu jitsu versus Spearto get around that find the submission.
That's not happening with Jim Miller. He's just a solid in the gist department,
you know, he just I don'tknow, And I think Millers go
to decisions with guys that are kindof right there at the Stanzi level.
I don't see him putting away Mac. I think Mac is gonna definitely prove
versatile, but I just don't thinkhe's gonna be able to get anything going
(50:02):
as far as sustained offense. Itake Jim Miller by decision here. Jeff
Rywood, Yeah, I'm leaving himthe same way. And you know,
we bring up that, you know, Matt could be the first one dropped,
and you know he talked about thatwith me and Greg before his last
loss. You know, he's likeYeah, you can't rack up too many
(50:23):
losses here. They're gonna get ready. You. So, I have a
feeling he's feeling a little extra pressure. And you know, feeling a little
extra pressure against somebody like Jim Milleris not a good thing. I don't
think that Jim Miller can finish Danzig. That's why I agree. I think
it's gonna go to the decision, but I think Miller is going to get
(50:43):
the decision. But he's very Amen. Can we go back for the sake
of clarification, because this is theonly time when I might be able to
possibly do this. Jim Miller isnot from Jack's area. Jim Miller is
also not from New York. JimMiller is from New Jerry, New Jersey.
And and and when I said hisarea, I mean in the northeast,
(51:05):
OH speak for speaking that generally. Then he is he is in fact
for New Jersey, not New York. I thought. I thought when he
met New York he was referring tothe fact that John Jones was also not
from his area. Right, Igot confused. I got confused because I
heard Empire state and I so Igot got in an attempt So in an
(51:27):
attempt to correct two of us.Yeah, how dare you? How dare
you? I got listen, Igot excited, guys, I got excited.
I can only do this once everylike eighteen months. So I got
you haven't even worked here for eighteenmonths, yes, which really, which
really means I'm set until next year. Convert You're exciting into a fantastic between
(51:50):
Jim Miller and mc danzig. Isee this going a lot similarly that to
the Danzi Guida fight, in thatMiller's just going to end up overwhelming Danzig
after a while, and Danzi's notgonna have a whole hype of a lot
of answers for his offense. Ithink the fight will end up going into
a decision. Neither guy has anyanything particularly potent to be able to finish
the other. But I think Danzi'sjust gonna end up will thing to h
(52:15):
Miller style and Miller just keep goingafter him over and over and over against
for the duration. And I likeMiller to win a decision here over Danzig
fair Greig Savage any deep penetrating insightin five words, a loss uh no,
uh decision as well. I thinkDanz is gonna have to catch a
(52:35):
submission on him to win the spikes. He's gonna spend a lot of it
on his back, and I justdon't see him pulling it off against Jim
Miller, So I'll think Miller bydecision teachers dans Yeah, I got Miller
by decision as well. I thinkDanzy has some moments in this fight,
but Jim's gonna sort of drag Macthrough the mud, take him down,
make him really work for it,and I think dan Zig is just gonna
break in that sort of situation.Um he will defend, though enough not
(52:58):
to get finished him. Miller Brandthree decision. Well, since we're all
being negative, Nancy's not back downstop, but ye'll hedge it with a
submission in the third, though it'snot that much hedging because I think if
there is a submission, I dothink it'll be a bit later. Normally,
if a guy's going to tap aguy, it's going to happen in
the first seven eight minutes that thatkind of classics normally shows. But I
think this could go similar to thenear Danzig fight, where dans It gets
(53:21):
a bit overwhelmed, it gets harderfor him. He physically wears down he
withdraws a bit and then there's apossibility for a Finnish stamp, sort of
the way the way that Jim Millerwas able to finish to be Blong for
instance. Plus I think he comeswith a bit more offense than you would
have seen out of the GUI tofight. He's always a bit more,
a bit more eager to show offhis hands and that sort of thing,
although obviously it didn't have him toomuch success against Gray Maynard. I like
(53:45):
Jim Miller definitely in the fight, and I will be a bit more optimistic
and him finishing mac Danzig. ButI definitely think it's going to be a
longer fight, as if a finishcomes, he's going to have to wear
him down and sort of get himto go into that mode where he doesn't
really want to be there anymore toget a finish. We all pick h
Miller six oh sweep for the startof New Jersey Kid. So is mcdanze
(54:06):
cut out of this fight? No, if there was any if there was
ever going to be a tough winnerthat was going to be cut, it'd
be mcdanze. It simply because he'snot exactly the most ostentatious. He's not
exactly the flashiest guy that's ever one, that's that's ever one the season.
(54:27):
Heck that's ever been on this season. But even then, I'm still reluctant.
What'd you say? I wouldn't saythat. I think one of the
things about Mac is he's not ateam player. He said, he speaks
with on his mind, and Ithink that in the end could could be
held against him. He's not apartner. Yeah, I mean, but
(54:50):
I think yeah, he also andto Lofy's point, he's not going to
be hosting Around the Octagon on ifhe can't fight. Yeah, well,
what's what's sort of worse is thathe can I don't think mc danzig.
Here's hypothetical situation, if he hadto host Around the Octagon on. Do
you think mac danzig would actually hawkBurger King as a devout vegan. Do
you think he would do it?Like if Dana White you have you have
(55:14):
to help something promoted by by BurgerKing, do you think don't say Veggie
Wappers now though no, not here, I'm sure that I'm sure that would
allay all of its concerns about BurgerKing. You can get a vegetarian wapper
here. I thought, I don'tthink the fact, I don't think the
fact that burger King offer a vegetarianoption would really off that sort of the
(55:37):
moral strife that the mcdanzick would feel. Ignore the six pounds of cow behind
the counter, look at the veggieburgers. He wouldn't do it. He
wouldn't do it, Max, thatkind of guy. Seriously, I think
this is my killing a fly, remember that? Yeah, exactly. I
think I think this is maybe oneof my favorite MMA hypotheticals I've heard in
(55:58):
a while. I want to seewhat happens if if mcdanziy stays on roster
and they try and make them promoteburger King. Just what to ask for?
I want, I want this tohappen. As long as I can

of us are about to pick againsthim about two. Yeah, I know
you're all has But first of all, well, the ward is Jeff,
the ward is realists. How realis it to think that Mark Coleman's gonna
lose with Steph and Bonner? Prettydamn real. Mark Coleman's gonna take him
down, ground him back, andthen gas out by the third round.
(57:05):
But he won't be but Boder won'tbe able to finish him, and he'll
win. Twenty nine twenty eight decisions. Uh yeah, I like I like.
I like how he sort of likekeeps his prediction in the realm of
almost quasi realism by predicting like atwenty nine as opposed to like a knockout
in the first. At the sametime, he's still picking Mark Coleman.
I like that. Well, Imean, that's what's gonna happen. He's
(57:25):
gonna take him down in the firstround, found him is gonna be an
obvious ten nine. Second round,He's gonna take him down. He's gonna
start to gas. People like Breenare gonna say, oh, well,
Bonner probably should have won that round, or it should have been at ten
ten, But it's really gonna beMark Coleman's round. Everybody's gonna give it
to him. And the third roundhe's gonna be gassed as hell, but
he isn't gonna be able to bestopped and Bonder can't stop him, and
(57:47):
then he's gonna win because I mean, Botter can't tap him out, he
isn't fade or he isn't Nogara andhe can't pay like Takata. I'm glad
we got to bring up I'm gladwe got to bring up the Takata by
now, Jeff, after such abold prediction anything else, I wanted to
just tell everybody who ever picked TJ. Grant's gonna lose because remember he was

Donger two bar anything else? Jeff, Oh no, no, I'm good.
So how would you all like yourStephan Bonner slow roasted? Um?
(58:31):
So it's slow roasted euphemism for afterthe grand decisions. No, it's actually
that's just a fast roasted. I'vegot round one sub fair TJ sub two
okay, Jeff sure with t kO two. Oh going going with the
hands and the feet of Bonner.I'm feeling it. I get a little
(58:52):
thinking outside the box. Maybe wedon't repeat. Yeah. You know what's
crazy is that every time Mark Colemanfi it's now. I just can't get
Pete Williams out of my head.I don't care who he's fighting. I
just keep seeing that over and evenduring the fight. I just even if
he's not gas yet, that justkeeps flashing in my head. I can't
(59:14):
get it out. I don't knowif it's a sickness or what I see
Mark Coleman. Every single time adog shakes his head like if they're wets
or anything, that's Mark Coleman.Yeah, that wasn't That wasn't fantastic reaction
to getting hit. I wish someonewould react like that more often. Look
see how you feel a Bonner's victorh sub round two great savage, so
(59:40):
yeah too. I will go toa mission around two as well. Um
is there seems to be like alot of people who who um. Perhaps
it's a sort of a lack ofappreciation for Stephen Bonner, or the fact
that a lot of people don't necessarilyfeel that Mark Coleman's completely done. But
(01:00:02):
um, what does this fight sortof look like? I mean, we
predict the finish, but is thisgoing to sort of be you know,
Coleman just running around blowing takedowns andgetting you know, idly punched and kicked
and or what does this look like? I will say, for although I'm
yeah ugly, I mean till mypick reflects kind of a clear vision of
how this will go, I stillcan't really vision this fight at all.
(01:00:25):
I think about it, and it'slike, I don't know, I just
not Mark Coleman winning. It's justall I can think of. Yeah,
that's that's your that's your technical analysis. I just I just cannot dog realize.
I appreciate the birds in the background, Jack well, you know,

Henderson if I see him taking himdown, But his business is very crafty
about getting up. You know whatI'm seeing getting back to his feed when

a it's a matchup because Business's gonnadominated Henderson. And I mean if he
(01:06:32):
does take him down as a chancehe get submitted, I don't think Henderson's
gonna get submitted on the ground, but he's gonna get right back up.
He's dominated him on his feet.I'm saying second round, no third rounds.
He kiled extremely extremely bold prediction. You know that at this point that,
yeah, Dan Henderson's rolls over MichaelBiston, that you're no longer going

haven't stupied up huffing down. Iwas wrong. He's going to be,
you know, Dorian from Louisville, guy who was adavant that this thing was
gonna knock out Dan Henderson. Yeah. I think that Henderson is a better
fight for him rather than Rich Franklin. Rich Franklin would have been a tougher
fight for him. A lot ofpeople think Henis is more of a bad

I didn't hear that really. Whenhe takes on Alan Belcher t day,
you laugh, partisan laugh. Firstis everyone's favorite oil of ol a

Mississippi gonna raise up? I likeAlan Belcher in this spot. This is
sort of my upset picked this weekand it's my it's my check congo if
(01:09:03):
you will. Alan Belcher, Ithink impressed a lot of people on his
fight against Dennis Kang. I think, um, it's a it's a similar
fight for him. I think hegets a submission. I think it's going
to be late. I say, third round, Alan Belcher. Someone someone
actually, I think took Belcher overKang on a round table? Was it?
When? Was it you? Itwasn't someone did it wasn't me?
(01:09:24):
Yeah, so you've got you've gota good history with Alan Belcher. I
think I might just have to pickhim until until he lets me down.
See I don't have a good history. See me personally, I don't have
a good history with Alan Belcher.I think he's incredibly talented, and I
expected a lot is the talent exactly, but he's never really been able to
(01:09:45):
put together. And whenever I sortof whenever there's a fight where I think
that biblically he's going to make astatement, he really blows it it badly.
I thought he was I thought hewas going to destroy Kendall Grove and
that was just horrible. And JasonJordan, this isn't Japan, bro,
this is in Japan, and thenJason Day fight. I'm still not over
(01:10:06):
entirely. So um. I certainlythink that if you're if you're looking to
bet Alan Melchi is one of thebest underdogs you can get here. There's
a lot of positive things he's goingfor him. He's got a diverse game,
he's got really good finishing skill, and he's really tough. The problem
I see here, and one ofthe reasons that I'm going to shy away
from picking him, is the factthat it seems like once he really gets
(01:10:27):
hit. He saw in the JasonDay fight. He saw in the Kendall
Grove fight, he can he canhang on and he can comebacks if guys
are on top of him and tryingto grapple. George Santiago he did it,
Dennis Canny did it. But whenguys hit him, it's the wheels
just come flying off and it's nottoo long before the end is coming.
I think Okayama hits him. Ithink he probably t kows him. Um.
(01:10:47):
I definitely think this is gonna bea case of who strikes the biggest
first um, and I think Okayamahas his skills to do it. I
think he probably hits Belter harder firstand and really starts and precipitates that that
slide. But I really think thisis a tough first matchup for Gift.
You're acking m And I think theway that we talk about Alan Belcher,
(01:11:08):
you know, the pencil for himto really tip over the apple cart as
he did against Dennis Kang. Idefinitely think that's why he's sort of going
to be the middleweight gatekeeper. Youknow. Oh you're coming from Japan?
How good? Really? Are yousort of guy for a long time to
come? So I'm gonna go withAkim in the first round, but I
definitely think we could see some upsetwildness. Here are you with that upset
(01:11:30):
wildness? Lefty? Um? No, I'm not. There are actually a
couple of things that perplex me onthis card, and the first and foremost
being why Alan Belcher is getting somuch play. I think I guess I'm
the only one who saw Dennis Kangessentially give him that gayty and choking that
last fight, and I mean belshdidn't. There wasn't any sort of big
(01:11:51):
talent or a big expression of talent, if you will, on the part
of Belcher to get that Gates.Joe Kang essentially gave it to him,
just stuck his neck out there ona garbage tankdown and I thought he lost
a split decision to uh ed Hermanback Ultimate five nine fifteen. So,
and then obviously there's still the Jasondat Ko loss. So I don't know
(01:12:12):
really where all this hype raland beltis coming from. I think Akiyama's gonna
win. I think Akayama is goingto win rather convincingly, and I think
I'm picking them Tko round one,Well, that's bold. Are you going
to be as bold as your beatdown homie? Jack? Oh? Me,
be quite the opposite. And I'mnot sure where. I'm not sure
where I was going with that.I realized I could go through before I
(01:12:33):
go Jack. TJ's not there. It took me a second inside, but
it's you. You're on the spotnow. Regularly referred to as the beat
down, Yes to beat down homeindeed, No, I mean, I
I don't know. For me,I have several questions about Akayama, the
biggest of which, and unless I'mmaking a huge oversight in my memory,
with the exception of the Masaki fight, um, I can't remember him fighting
(01:12:54):
without a gee, and the guyalways wins. You know, almost a
lot of his wins from gee chokes, Zekiel chokes, things that require a
gee to pull off. I meanyou're sure, are you waiting for me
to list every fight? Yeah?Yes, yes, he didn't carry on
fight in the gee for the DennisKang fight. He didn't fight in the
(01:13:15):
Given Gang fight. Okay, thatwas a knockout that he That was the
one fight where I kind of couldsee your call that, um, he's
gonna put a heavy hand on him. But h but then they got Then
the Gotta fight was a gee, right that cuts he can have gotta fight.
Yes, he won because he worethe gee and they gotta worth England
right. Um. Well, okay, I mean, you know, you
(01:13:36):
can list them later if you want. But I think I just that that's
something to me, that that's somethingthat makes me really have difficulty forecasting this
thing. His last two fights.I think something changed after that Missaki loss.
I don't know exactly what it was, but that Shibata and that um
what was it to Massonary Tanuka fight? Um, he looks sluggage. He
didn't put those guys away as quicklyas he could. You know, he
(01:13:57):
was put on those cards because hedraws ratings on a dream show, and
you know, he was given opponentsto showcase himself and continue to be this
you know, winning bad guy that'sso lucrative over there. But I remember
quite a bit of questions about, you know, really how how long it
took him to put away these guysthat he should have handled credential wise and
record wise. I don't think we'relooking at the Samuel shir Atkayama that we
(01:14:19):
think we are. I mean,he seems to be in a very good
shape. There's a lot of buzzabout that, but I don't know.
I just see Alan delt Are havingthe comfort zone it's going to take to
win this thing be a decision, and a Kayama is going to have a
bit of a learning curve. Keelessand on stateside for the first time.
The one thing I will say, sort of in accordance to his last two
fights, it's like there's been sortof this narrative of oh, he hasn't
(01:14:41):
been the same since Misaki knocked himout. Well, But the fab those
two fights is that this guy reallydidn't frame for them at all, like
did not like they were They werelike fights produced on like a week in
two weeks known as he already wantedto get away from ffug and was trying
to burn up his fights as quicklyas possible, and he really didn't do
any time in the gym at all, and it eventually showed the fact that
he was far better than the guyshe was facing. And in most cases
(01:15:03):
even you know, when you havea talented spirit like that, eventually cream's
gonna rise to the top. Butit can be a bit more difficult if
you really don't put any time atall in the gym, which is basically
what the case was. Nonetheless,we are in an interesting predicament. I
thought, maybe we get one Belcherbit of love, but it's two two.
Jeff, are you gonna go backhim? You're gonna go Belter?
(01:15:25):
Well, you know the thing withBelcher, you know, they call him
the talent, and I agree,I see it. I see where he
gets that. The problem is,there's a lot of talented guys that that
are younger, and sometimes they showup, sometimes they don't. I mean,
look at David Price yesterday. Imean, that was the David Price
that everybody was waiting to show up, you know, not the one that
(01:15:48):
gave up eight runs and two inningswas last start or something. And I
think when these, you know, when they're younger like this, it's kind
of a curve. I'm not evensure how how old or young Belcher is,
but man, I mean there's somany fights of his that I just
scratch my head at. I getbehind him and I'm like, Okay,
this kid is a true prospect. You know, Let's watch this kid.
(01:16:11):
And then all of a sudden, boom, chemic Robe comes, Oh my
gosh. And then okay, thenhe has a couple of mediocre wins and
all right, okay, I sawsome talent I saw with it. And
then comes Jason today, and I'mjust like, man, come on.
So there's no way that I couldtake Alan Belcher against Akiyama right now.
You know. Not that I don'tthink that he can't meet him. I
(01:16:33):
think that he can, but Ijust don't think that he shows up every
fight for some reason. So I'mgonna go with Akiyama. Bye, I'm
I think it's gonna be a toughfight, and I think it's gonna go
to a decision. Well, we'llsee if I can clear it for two
or if we're gonna tie his courtfor awlndlter Greg, I can stake one
(01:16:54):
to call him for the talent dittotoo, So we're going Are we going
Acama here? Yeah? I gotAcayamas about a decision as well. Yeah,
it's hard to pick Belcher right now. Man. Uh, the guy
who's inconsistent, who's got all thetools, just has the will to put
(01:17:15):
it together. So it's hard totake someone who's that inconsistent. So I'll
go with the h the grizzled veteranaccyoma. I don't know if you can
call with his moisturizing routine. ButI almost feel bad making Greg talk at
this point. He so physically Iwould. Yeah. I thought it would
say something about my David Price analogybecause I thought it was a spot on,
(01:17:38):
But nobody even cared half. Andyou know what's funny, people out
there have no idea who the hellDave Prices? Hey, I said everything
you said, including thanks buddy, all Right, look, I'm happy any
anytime, Jeff, you get sortof excited from me, and you're gonna
start making baseball analogies. I'm there, I'm excited, thank you, But
(01:18:01):
we hit the next fight, Jordan. Can I lay a question out on
the table for the panel? Absolutely? Why did the UFC sign Yoshi Rakiyama
big in Korea? Why give himAlan Belcher at UFC one hundred on a
show that why give me Allan Delcher? I mean, if you want to,
why don't wait till you go toKorea? Maybe and maybe maybe I
(01:18:21):
don't understand this. Um. Iwould say some of it is um sort
of the fact that they're going tobe piing the money, so they don't
want to really make it super easyfor him. I think they would like
them a serviceable acid test to reallyknow sort of wharry is what they can
do with them. And I thinkthat there's always you know, it's like
something I talked with with Kidney fromblod Elbow and Las Show on Thursday.
(01:18:42):
There's always some level of schadenfreudo withyou know, ZUFA bringing over guys from
Japan. Yeah, you know, like I mentioned, you know, hypothetical
Yokim Hansen Gray Maynard fight. It'sperfect, you know, like like if
they just signed Yo Kim Hanson rightnow and put him aginto Gray manderd like
if he was a late replacement forRoger Alberta. That's a perfect fight because
either they get a guy who's entertainingand has a look and the guy that
(01:19:02):
they can sell as a contender,or he loses and then Joe Silvia can
pass round notes to Joe Rogan saysthe Japan anymore, and they can all
laugh at him. It's a winwin situation. Yeah. In the in
the spirit of UFC one hundred trivia, what fight took place when Joe Silva
passed that note? What precipitated thatnote? Path Racio? Is it the
(01:19:26):
right answer? I think he didit, but I think he did it
from machetah sokuju as well. Whichone came first? And Showgun and fourth
Griffin came first September to December?Someone remember one? Google it? Yeah?
Please, I do believe it wasin fact UFC seventy six. If
(01:19:48):
you jack, if you have theanswer to your own trivia question, wrong,
bad things are common. It happens. It has already had one nine
six seven nine two four the numberto phone in Jabrein at shirdog dot com

(01:20:11):
a fight a couple of years ago, and he looked like a good prospect,
but striking his grappling, he's everimproving. I'm shocked all capital letters
that no one on Shirtdog staff giveshim a chance against an overhyped doll the
way if it ends early or goesto a decision, a Lawler will win.
And on that same note, willfrom Florida rights in What's up,
round Table? I wanted to giveyou a few reasons why he should be
giving Tom Lawler a little more creditthan you are. In his fight against
(01:20:33):
cbeing first, Tom's fighting for thefirst time ever at when any five coming
down from two h five. Theonly two fights we've seen from him aside
from YouTube are against Ryan Vader andKyle Kingsbury, both fighters considerably larger than
Tom, and yet he was ableto stuff several of vaders takedown attempts and
completely controlled the much larger Kingsbury forfor a full three eight rounds. I
think people are going to be surprisedby the strength advantage if that Tom will
(01:20:55):
bring the fight. He's also beentraining for the last seven years with Steth
petrows Ellie, so he sees crazystand up skills every day in practice.
Don't be surprised if Tom controls thepace of this fight and ends up with
a very impressive decision victory. Ihave a question, like, like,
since Seth petris Elli got brought up, um, when are we finally going
to see Seth patris Elli finish afight with something really exotic, like like
(01:21:18):
it's like his entire offense is likespinning hook kicks, and he's always been
all these wild, you know, karate moves and he's never like finished anywhere,
Like like his big finish was thefact he finished Kimball with a good
jab. Why why why couldn't Whycouldn't you hit Kimball with a spinning hook
kick. Oh, I don't know. I have no idea why, I
(01:21:39):
said, petris Elli doesn't implement thatgame plan I demand. And there's about
Seth Petrizelli. Now, well, the only thing you're gonna get is Tim
teaming up with Colonel Bob to completelyrip the airwaves up with fantastic commentary.
That's all you're gonna get out ofSeth that didn't care, Jason, don't
(01:22:00):
talk about Yeah. This is definitelytrue. I was glad that it was
just something enough to fight and notpull out. Um the Yeah. The
emails have started to roll in forthe not find any more comments, and
thus far people have seemed to believeit was in fact the machine to fight.
(01:22:20):
So um thus far, good job, Jack. Your your tribute question
appears to have held up cool Isay more. I'll say more if you
want me to. No one knows. I was just it was one of
those awkward sort of things that Ididn't know if you were going to continue.
Since I'm glad that you didn't,we can go on to the next
(01:22:42):
fight. Indeed, let's roll, all right, we finally come to that
fight that Greg has been a waitingwhere one of his boy toys, John
Fitch can perhaps a hammer job onBrazilian special Opts badass Paulotiago, who beat
up his teammate Josh Cooshtick in February. With the sudden hand of God out
of nowhere, can he make lightningstrike twice. Who knows. But if
(01:23:04):
nothing else, at least we getto see what ladies Smail in the UFC
once again. If there's any reasonthat you should hope for Politiago victory,
it's more of the lead in thecorner. So who wants to stick up
for politiaggo? Who? Who?Who wants to make it two and oh
for ladish Mail's boy. Nope,I don't want to fix I just want
(01:23:25):
to fix the rankings again. Well, look, it's it's up to Politiago.
Like, if if he loses andgets beat up, so be it.
And if he wins, the resumekeeps understanding. That's what I'm saying.
So obviously we're all picking John Fitchto regulate. How would you all
like your John Fitch? I'm feelinga decision. I don't know. I'm
(01:23:49):
willfully ignorant about Politiago. It's it'sa real shame for some reason. He's
one fighter that I'm just not motivatedto research or know anything about. Despite
his incredible he's he's he's special.Ops, he's a bad he's a well
there's no footage of that. Sohe hangs out with believe Eachmail probably the
greatest true personality in Brazilian mma, that's true. I don't know. I'm
(01:24:13):
just I'm mystified by this man.The only fight I saw of his besides
the cost Chick fight was the onewhere he like threw a high kick and
blew out his knee or his opponentdid that. Actually his opponent did,
yes, yes, um, Andafter that I was like, man,
that's all I can find on Paulatiagoand it was and I never revisited it,
so whatever. I don't know.I just see Fitch doing, you
know, doing dominance, but notnecessarily you know, putting this guy to
(01:24:34):
sleep. I see a decision.Jeff Trwin, how are you liking your
John Fitcher. I'm liking decision too. I think, you know, I
think Fitz is gonna beat him upfor three rounds. I think it's gonna
get pretty ugly. But I don'tthink he's gonna quit, you know.
So I don't think, uh,he's gonna stop the fight, but he's
(01:24:55):
gonna beat him up. So I'mgoing decision and Fitch as well. What
he's saying. I saw Brown too. Fitch rapping for Gorilla Jiu jitsu leud
Be Siriana with the finished pick. Are you feeling like TJ? Yeah,
I like that pick. I'm gonnago stup too. I'm a little hesitant
now that lovely said it. Butum, you know, I thought I
(01:25:18):
set up a sizeable gap between Jackand by myself. I didn't come all
on me. Cost was beating upThiago and then you know, I hate
to say it, sort of gotcaught. I think Fitch would be all
over um Thiago like like Costack wasn't, and he'll making pay to submission run
too. We're naked choke eman. Not quite as exactly as the preview next
(01:25:40):
time that Jack called earlier, butso noted Greg. How's how's John Fitch
gonna get her done? Like asubmission as well? I'll think it to
the betters, though. I thinkyou'll beat him up on the feed,
soften him up, and once heputs him on his back, and we'll
find a submission. Oh god,I just like I feel like the old
I'd make him sound you sound likeyou actually sound physically affected, like deeply

physically affect. Well, this iswhat happens when savages hung over and he
can't eat anything. Lope yea.Hopefully we can get some bread and water
in this man's system relively soon sometimeI'm drinking water all morning. I just
(01:26:26):
I just feel sorry for his family. Well, if if nothing else,
it should it should make Greg happythat John Fitch is going to win this
fight. I think it plays outone or two ways, and it really
only depends on how tough Paula Tiagois. He's really never had a guy
like go at him with real offenseand really push against him. Costeck was
(01:26:48):
really the only guy who ever didanything, and it wasn't really stained offense.
He was hunting and pecking on thefeet. Um, this will be
the first time that he really hasto deal with a guy take him down,
beating him up really badly. Um, if he is a guy who
can bleed and get smashed on anddeal with it, he can make it
to a really lopsided decision, likea four or five point spread. But
if not, I think it's gonnalook like a few Auntie fight, like
(01:27:10):
the Broken fight. I like Fitchsubmission round two as well. I think
there'll be a massive sort of gapand scale there. Tha Thiago's striking really
isn't that good. He's got somenice throws, but they're all inside where
he won't be able to get toJohn Fitch, and the submission game is
very sort of predictable, and JohnFitch, I think people don't give enough
credit for how good his ground gamereally is. I really don't see things
(01:27:33):
going too swimmingly for vality smails boyin this one, however, two interests
in emails, one of a polity, but another one I'm not even I'm
not even sure what it's connected to. But Matt from New York just emailed

(01:28:24):
does he jump in line to thenext to us title shot? Tiago looks
horrible? Uptil the Klee punch versuscost check, but two wins against top
ten competition would be fairly impressive eitherway. Also, if Thiago I was
beast towards Saint Pierre, I thinkthe Goshtar and Katie commercial should efficially be
retired since GSP would no longer behe would no longer be wealth away champion
as he's described in the commercial.Even though in the Canadian a huge DSP

Alvez. That means the end ofthat commercial that drowsing crazy, don't worry
for what are lose is not airedafter this round table. Okay, now,
obviously I don't. I don't thinkthat even if you want to press
the Thiago is going to get thenext title shot that's going to probably go
to the winner of Mike Twicker,Martin Campman fought and the interest of sort
(01:29:08):
of having maximizing challengers, I thinkI think it's unlikely, like, like,
even if he kept winning, Ithink would be unlikely that Paul Thiago
would really be good enough to likewin enough fights to win a title shot.
The honest way does anyone sort ofthing that it would sort of almost
be prudent for them to put himin a title of fight since, for
instance, the winner of campmon Swickis probably going to keep winning, so
(01:29:30):
they're going they're going to be there, just like John Fitch for that matter.
You know they're going to be theredown the line winning fights against good
wealth to weights. Paul Thiago mightnot be do you do you sort of
jump at that? No, youneed if you need a Spike TV main
event man hating hating on Paul Thiago. The lady Ishmael would hate you guys.
Sure? Would you call you guyscheekings? Just like high and Raid

(01:39:48):
Yeah, anything interesting come out ofthis? Not really? Onward, he
brought it up significantly more excited, entertaining, and relevant to the heart of
mixed martial arts than Rob King's tabulatingability. Dan Henderson and Michael Bisbing will
finally fight after a slightly better thananticipated season of The Ultimate Fight or nine.
(01:40:15):
From Michael Bisbing, he thinks hegets a title shot if he wins.
If Dan Henderson wins. He alsothinks he gets a title shot if
he wins, although I highly doubtthat there's too much market for a rematch
with Anderson Silva from Dan Henderson atthis point in time. However, maybe
he can talk to whatever gods havegiven him the ability to win strange,
bizarre and amazing decisions over the years, and then they can iron something out.
(01:40:36):
We had Dorrian from Louisville fallen earlierand say that this was a Bisping
beat down and that he was goingto knock out Dan Henderson. Any Bisping
takers too, Yes, Ah,speak your piece. I mean, to
be fair. Part of this isbecause I'm just floored that no one is
(01:40:59):
even giving miss Being a chance inhell against Henderson here. I mean no,
it seems as if everyone's just uhfive bucks in all over Bisping for
this, and I really don't understandwhy he's a better technical boxer. He's
uh I mean, yes, Hendersonhas the overhand right and he has that
one power shot Savage just dropped allright anyway, as Henderson has a better
(01:41:25):
power and he could take him there. But I think Hendris haught up a
lot, a lot in this fightin terms of trying to just shut this
being up, in terms of tryingto knock him out and get this fight
over with, and it could costhim because again, like I said,
miss Twins got better footwork. He'sgonna be able to work in and out.
He's gonna be able to frustrate HendersonI think a lot in this fight,
and he's gonna be able to rackup points that way. And then
all right, when Henderson goes tothe wrestling, I'm not gonna say that
(01:41:48):
he doesn't. He doesn't have thewrestling advantage he does, but I'll buy
into it at least the fact thatbits things improved enough to be able to
win some scrambles, to be ableto not just beat defenseless off of his
back for a little bit, havingto be able to again pick up enough
points the theme from a lot ofmy pigs, and win a decision there.
(01:42:09):
So Bisping over Henderson by decision anyoneelse feeling what Luf he's putting down.
Um, Nope, Okay, wellI'm going I'm going to Dan Henderson
the window decision because I do wantto sort of I don't think we should
portray it as though Luffy's analysis isa sort of way off base, because
I agree with sort of the rootof it um here on the calendar everybody
(01:42:33):
but Bisping is definitely a better technicalfighter on defeat than Dan Henderson. He
throws the combination, he has farbetter footwork, He put his combinations together,
he lands accurately, he lands jabDan Henderson throws right handed windmills.
I don't really think there's too muchcompetition there. The other thing I like
is the fact that Michael Bisping tendsto be able to get back up when
(01:42:54):
he gets taken down and he triesto score off his back. He goes
for submissions, He punches and strikesfrom the guard. He you know,
it is very sort of good mackcapacity. My problem here is the fact
that essentially, if you're if you'repicking Michael Bisban, it's it's a tacit
admission that you don't think that DanHenderson will wrestle and certainly it's always a
danger. You can always end upwith a fight like the second Kazool Missaki
(01:43:15):
fighter. Frankly, even the firstKazoom Missaki fight, apart from the big
knockdown that probably won him the fight, he was suddenly outpointed when he tried
to just land massive right handed haymakersover and over and over again. If
he does that, he will lose. He will lose the decision of Michael
Bisban. But I don't think thatif you're if you're paying a guy straight
up to win, I think youneed it a little something more than just
(01:43:35):
oh can't. I do not believethat this guy will tempt takedowns at all.
I certainly don't have a ton offaith in Dan Henderson's game planning.
But I would just be I wouldI would be borderline amazed, though I
can't necessarily say I'd be surprised ifhe just a shoe takedowns and got outpointed.
I do think he will go fortakedowns. I don't think he'll be
(01:43:58):
you know, I don't think he'llreally look great against Michael Bisbing, But
I think he'll do enough to takea decision. But I don't think we
should act as though. I thinkthis bing has real sort of underdog value
here, and I don't think weshould sort of, you know, take
this dance of ah, let's beyou're crazy for pecking Michael bisbing Dorian's knock
it, on the other hand,a bit more suspicious. T J.
Do you just feel that that DanHenderson's going to roll to a decision?
(01:44:19):
Ye? Yeah, I think so. But you know, um, I
had a submission in the doggy baglast week. I mean this really comes
down to Dan being smart and notloading up that right hand and going,
oh, I'm gonna try to getknock out of the Night or fight of
the night, and I'm sure thisbonuses are gonna be huge this UF.
The rumor, the rumor that thatstamms from a conversation with TV's all Away,
(01:44:40):
was that they were going to gowith a hundred k bonuses. Yeah,
and as long as Dan stays awayfrom that, he wins his fight.
He might even be able to stopbisbiting on the floor with the TKO.
But I don't see it. Isee Dan Henderson fighting smart, getting
take down for takedown and maybe youknow, peppering him up a little bit
in some scrambled situations. But DanHenderson w this unanimous decision, Jackrey with
(01:45:02):
that, I'm with the decision.Yes, I am not much to add
I do I do concur in that. You know, Yeah, you can
make the argument lope he made forthisping I think I think you can't do
that. Um, I don't know. Maybe I'm not as plugged into the
right circles. I haven't heard anybodypick this thing out right through a lot
of talk. Yeah, very good, I mean, but but this being
(01:45:29):
seems to be talking all the timeabout everyone's saying he's gonna get absolutely blown
out of the water. And that'snot my pick. I mean, I
don't see him getting I don't seeDan doing anything like in the first round
it'll end this thing. I justdon't see it. But this bing seems
to be sensitive as if that's outthere. Maybe I'm not as plugged into
the chat or I mean, who'ssaying that, Michael, this thing is
gonna get absolutely annihilated and round gethim one? And how exactly what that
happened from a right hated hate maker. I don't I don't see a way
(01:45:54):
forward to happen, you know whatI mean? And this being seems to
be acting like he's heard it everywhere. Maybe he's like pumping himself up.
But I haven't really heard that argumentthere, Greg, Jeff, are you
guys with a Henderson decision? Ilike a Henderson of this? I like,
whoa what he saying came loud outof nowhere, all of a sudden,
(01:46:19):
he woke up. What you hadto be something? I've just been
sitting here wallowing. Um, Ilike, uh, I like Henderson by
stoppage and this. I think he'sgoing to h t KO and get the
advantage on the ground, get ayou know, dominant position a pound away
(01:46:41):
for a stoppage, probably somewhere inthe second round. Jeff, how do
you feel about that? Yeah,it's kind of funny that Lofie comes up
with this big thing. I mean, I think, you know, Ultimate
Fighter is built for people like Lofiand you know they get into that.
And I mean, seriously, there, I totally has to be a where
(01:47:02):
low thought Forrest Griffin was the bestfighter in the world. I mean seriously,
and they built up BIS mean,I don't really think that. Wow,
what I'm just I'm just trying iswrong? Is he wrong? Lovely
that's what I want to know.Goodness gracious, I'm just being put on
blast here this entire week. Answerthe question did you ever think was the
(01:47:26):
best fighter in the world. ForrestGriffin's not the best fighter in the world.
I love Forrest Griffin that the bedroomnever mind. Yeah, yeah,
the Ultimate Fighter show can build outstars and and most of the people that
watch a TV show and stuff that, you know, they can get into
that, and I think that's kindof what Bisfean's living on. But at
(01:47:48):
the same point, I don't thinkthat Dan Henderson has really has that fire
anymore. I mean, he seemsto kind of cruise through fights and thinks
he's gonna knock everybody out with thatbig overhand, right, and it's just
not happening anymore. He just doesn'tseem like he even really cares to me.
But I'm hoping that BIS being talkingtrash and and kind of getting in
(01:48:09):
his face a little bit, youknow, lights a fire under under him,
and you know, but I stilldon't really know if I'm crazy about
Dan Henderson fighting Anderson Silva again. But I think with the whole Ultimate Fighter
Show, the whole BIS being talkingtrash and you know, maybe Henderson being
uh, you know, wanting tofight again. I think this fight,
(01:48:30):
it could be decent, but Itotal it has decision written all over it,
and I think Dan's going to pullout that decision. But if this
being done, I mean, Ithink this is a This is a statement
for bis being because he's you know, he's upset that he's not in our
ranks. He's he's upset that peoplethink that he's not that good, think
that he's overrated. He's upset.Well, this is his chance, you
(01:48:50):
know, prove us, prove everyonethat you know you're right and everyone else
is wrong. We'll see. Well, obviously, our next challenger for Anderson
Sofa is going to come out ofwhoever's most impressisive in this fight, coupled
with whoever is most impressive in theDemimya Nathan Mark part fight. Who's ultimately
going to get the next shot?Sort of? I don't don't necessarily maybe
(01:49:11):
give away your pick for when wedo at round Tables this summer, but
between what you what you expected tohappen in this fight and what you expect
to happen in that fight, who'sgoing to get the next shot At one
hundred eighty five pound glory damienspect anyonenot named yeah, forget about the real
answer not you should know comy wellplayed TJ yeah one nine six seven nine
(01:49:38):
two four four the number two phonein Jay Breen at shirdog dot com to
email in and Twitter dot com slashJordan Breen two tweeting I'm pretty sure that
Frank Shamrock is in line before.Yeah. Um, I just know of
the tweets I've got th fun onher, like ninety percent of them are
about the Michael Jackson joke I made? Was that really that wild? Like
(01:50:00):
I didn't know, I didn't Ididn't think about it at the time.
I didn't I didn't care. Ididn't think it was a big deal.
Is it too Is it too earlyto make jokes about Michael Jackson? Really?
Like people making jokes about Michael Jacksonfor twenty five years? Yeah,
that's That's what I'm saying. Idon't I don't get don't get love to
respect. What was even the MichaelJackson joke? I don't even remember it.
(01:50:23):
Yeah, I don't even really wantto hear it. Yeah, And
I didn't even really care when Imade it. That's really Yeah, that
definitely should have come across whoever's workedup about that. We come to the
title fights, and definitely one ofthe biggest fights that we're going to get
this year or any year. Franklyone and two in the welterweight division and
serious pound for pounds and damifications.Hard to do a whole lot better than
(01:50:45):
that. Unfortunately for them, Hey, he brought lessers on the card,
so you can't be the main event. Guys. Fortunately, to the heart
of MMA, to what's really important, to what's crucial and glory bound George
Terrible defenders welter weight title against ThiagoElvis with all the hundred and seventy pound
marbles at stake, one hundred seventypound marbles, but the marbles at one
hundred and seventy pounds, one hundredseventy marbles would be just extremely That's yeah,
(01:51:10):
that's Bobcat, That's like, yeah, that's Atlas Stone tight material.
So I'm not sure that one hundredand seventy pound marbles would be a good
idea. Have fun getting those throughairport security. Speaking of this fight,
there's there's a lot of breujaha goingaround about George Saint Pierre's elbow. Has
anyone seen his mangled elbow? No, I'm not he broke he busted it
(01:51:31):
when well he didn't he I will, I will put a picture up for
you guys to get a quick quicklook at. Oh mind, this may
change things. Yeah, this isdon't don't the elbow isn't the thing on
top? That's Mark Coleman elbow. No, you can see the elbow looking
(01:51:55):
pointing. Can he can he raindown elbows with that? I wonder that
looks like a hammermer right there.Well, it's I'm assuming like I don't
know, since he hasn't talked aboutGeorge Janepa refuses to even review like the
slightest pieces of strategy, let alonewhether or not he's injured. Um,
it just looks like garden vridy elbowprosites to me. So you're probably more
(01:52:19):
familiar with this, and and Icould probably look up unified rules for a
clarification this. Are you allowed towear an elbow pad or like a sleeve
on your elbow? I'm not sureif you can wear it on your elbows,
and you definitely do it on theknees, and though in some states
are are a bit iffy on it, I don't know if you get away
with it all that I'm trying.I'm trying to think if anyone that has
(01:52:40):
warned one, um happen, ifyou go and do that, you better
you better think about the message you'resend into Chiago Elves. If you come
in with an elbow pad on dustyroad style, I doubt that it will
be like to me, like obviouslyracitis can get nasty, but I doubt
for those who sort of emailed andhave been worried, um of all the
awful things that MMA fighters go intofights with that we can't see that aren't
(01:53:03):
readily superficial. Albo prasides for hissort of cartoons and ridiculous and popeye ask
as it may look, shouldn't be. I doubt that Albo Perscise is going
to play a formative role, andwho wins the fight him will come down
to something a bit more technical andspecific, and so for that tej Santis,
(01:53:23):
if you want George Saint Pierre Thiagualves. I like George Saint Pierre.
I think Alvis does pose a lotof you know, style matchups that George
hasn't really had to face inside theUFC's the best striker who's ever fought.
He's probably one of the best guysto defend the takedown and then you know,
just the sheer size. But overtwenty five minutes, Saint Pierre's gonna
shine. I think he gets takedown Takedown, beats up Thiago Alvias like
(01:53:45):
he beats everybody up. I thinkhe stops him in the third round.
T ko U Sym I need todefern sure one on this first, because
apparently I need to be guided outof my whole Tough Generation stands, and
hey, there's to there's millions ofthere's millions of Tough Generation guys out there.
(01:54:05):
That's all. I'm an agent, just the way it is. I'm
just I'm just deferring to to demandon this one because my tough, my
tough minded glasses have clouded my decisionmaking. And since GSP was an assistant
coach on Tough four, it's gonnait's gonna screw everything up. Uh GSP,
(01:54:26):
GSP TK around three. Now forreal technical analysis, Jeff Sherwood of
the pretty Tough Generation, what doyou got? No, I'm just saying
that is good good. I'm justsaying, yeah, I think this is
this is a great fight, man. These are the fights that you want
(01:54:48):
to see. Um, these arethe fights that gets you excited, even
if you've been an MMA fan fortwo days or twelve years, you know.
And I think it's gonna live upto it, what like lope and
you yeah, see I didn't saythat. See they're finally times in and
(01:55:09):
then he's trying to stir it up. David had been drunk this entire show.
All of a sudden, he's gotsomething to say. Um, you
know, I don't think it's gonnabe an easy fight for George Saint Pierre.
Um, but I think he's gonnawear it on Thiago. I think
he's just gonna wear him. Um, he's gonna you know, we hope
that he takes him down. Imean, if you want George Saint Pierre
(01:55:30):
to win, you know, youwould think that he's gonna take him down
and grind on him, um,hopefully to make it even a little more
more exciting of a fight. Hestands with him for a while and we'll
see, uh, we'll see ifthink he can catch him and hurt him
at all. But I'm going withGeorge sat Pierre. I think It's gonna
be a very tough fight for bothfighters. But I think George Saint Pierre's
gonna pull it out with some groundand pound in the third round to win
(01:55:53):
the fight. As for a decision, Greg Savage, you're one of the
biggest supporters. Can you do abig uh no? Uh yeah. I
think fight actually is gonna be uhsomewhat easy for George. I don't think
it's easy. You know, nofight is simple. But you have to
(01:56:14):
get out there and get his handsdirty. But I think relatively uh early
in the fight he'll be able tofinish this thing. I think he puts
him on his back. I thinkit's hard for y'all got to get back
up. I think his noted slowstarting in the past is something that can
hurt him here if he has hadenvisioned something like a John Fitch fight.
(01:56:36):
But I think it ends. Ithink he actually finishes it, so uh,
I will go with the t KOand the third round or can curd
us out second time you've done that? Not kidding, yeah, to come
out. I'm sure you guys. You guys are just sort of melding together.
(01:56:59):
I'm not sure why you since TJ'sin second place and you're in the
selling Yes, yes, yes, okay, um, all right, you
should come out. They circle abit, GSP gets a few punches through
m Chiago, shoots for a legkick, George catches it, holds him
down and does that once or twoor three times, and ends up up
with a second round t k Ovictory. I'm also of the opinion that
(01:57:19):
George Shampier is going to stop Kiaguelvesand win the fight. I would like
a tap in the third round, sad drop, slow starting. I think
that's definitely going to help George SaintPierre go out lands and strikes, find
ways to set up takedowns and movefrom there before Thiaguelvis can really get into
the swing of things. I alsothink that the starting slow helps George n
(01:57:39):
Pierre and that when he actually throwsstrikes, Thiaguelvis doesn't counter, He just
puts his hands up moves straight backwards. So I think it's going to allow
him a real sort of window,a grace window to figure out, you
know, how do I set upthe knee pick, how do I get
inside on the sky, and howdo I get into the mat? So
I think a lot of the stylisticthings. Vote well, the really best
place that Tuels end up is insideon the clinch, swimming inside. But
(01:58:02):
even then, George Saint Pierre Bruntand Jean Charles Skarbowski, one of the
best foreign muy Tai fighters ever fromFrance to work with his camp, even
if he just sort of imparted atechnique or two that could really make all
the difference at this level, GeorgeSaint Pierre is so confident at this point
that even if all this has theone shot power to make it interesting,
(01:58:24):
even if I think that's maybe thechance in George Saint Pierre's armor a guy
who can land one big shot andswarm on him as we saw him at
Sarah Do, It's not anything thatI'm going to bank on. I like
George Saint Pierre to be clinical,to be workman like, and to take
him down and beat him up toa third round stoppage, and perhaps much
much faster than we would anticipate outof the workman like performance from George Saint
(01:58:45):
Pierre. The heavyweights our main event, the rematch between brock Lester and Frank
Mira for the Unified, Undisputed UnquestionedUFC title of the universe. Whether or
not it's going to be interrupted bya whole arena of fans, channing Field
or a million ACO's name, weshall see. I trust you're not quite
as excited for this as you arefor Alvis Saint Pierre Jeff. But what
(01:59:09):
do you feeling the less? Yeah, just slightly less um um, yeah,
I don't. I don't, man, you know, I've really had
a hard time thinking about this fightbecause, yeah, I've said many times
that as sad as it may sound, this would be in the heavyweight title.
It's just it's just totally doesn't getme excited at all. I think
(01:59:31):
that Brock is gonna be very veryhard to beat for the next few years,
and I think the kine Velaskis fight, his last fight, even proves
more so of that. I mean, check Congo knocked him down a few
times. I think if Brock kickedhits him, you know, with one
of his punches on the chin,he's gonna he's not gonna get back up.
(01:59:54):
And you know, Shane Carwin,I don't know, you know,
I think Brock is gonna take Merdown and get on top of just grind
him out. I don't think thatMirror's gonna be able to pull off a
submission from his back unless it's veryerely in the fight. And I think
that Brock's too strong at the beginningof the fight to be able to be
caught in a submission. So Ithink he's just gonna beat Mirror up,
(02:00:16):
maybe get a stoppage around three, and I think the Brock's gonna be the
heavyweight UFC Heavyweight champ for a while. Great savage, pretty feeling. Yeah.
I like Lessner a big time inthis fight as well. I'm sick
of hearing how Frank Mir's stand upis so great and he looks so great
(02:00:36):
against No Garrets stopped with that nonsenseman. No Gareth looked like crap.
Frank has never been a guy whohas come back from any kind of adversity.
Really in fight, I think Lessar'sgonna put him in. I mean,
the only exception being against Brock.Lessner a nubie who didn't know how
to get out of that submission.I don't think he makes that same us
(02:01:00):
to take again. I think hewalks all over him t KO first round.
Bold Can you match that boldness?Uh? Maybe a little bit.
I don't know, you don't reallylearn, you don't really get up to
that level of jiu jitsu the FrankMan is at right now. It's talking
about if you're Lesnar in a spanof how long has it been? Six
(02:01:20):
months? Yeah, I mean thatyou just don't make that jump. If
he does, I'll be shocked. And yeah, yes, image, you're
right, Mirror stand up hasn't itisn't that great, But neither there's a
legends. Really he just really getsbuy more than anything because he's just a
big, strong guy. So it'srelatively even, uh relatively even. Given
(02:01:41):
a slight advantage to Lesner if youwill, but I still think Mirror's got
a big advantage of big advantage whenthis fight does go to the ground,
and I like Mirror here by subbingthe third Mere won't be able to stand
up if he makes. Man,are you with that line of analysis?
Jack? And kind of salary you'regonna stick for your home at the pro
wrestler? Oh yeah, here comesthe pain rock Lessner. Uh second round
(02:02:06):
t KO over mistern Mire, aton of fireworks. I think it's gonna
be really uh, you know,in a in an untraditional sense, a
fun fight to watch. I thinkit's gonna be wild, just like the
first one, but I think withless history onyx with Steve Mazagatti, and
I think he's just gonna keep working, you know, without any interruptions,
and eventually get it done in roundtwo and retain or unify the belts or
(02:02:27):
whatever he's gonna be doing, whateverelse that is he's going to be doing.
Yeah, he might get shoot off, he might do a lasso afterwards.
I don't know, shooting star pressbreak his neck all that could perhaps
t de Santas, I'm not I'mnot bold enough to pick brock Lessner by
F five round one like Greg savages, but it will. It will come
(02:02:49):
to the end quickly for Frank mirt Ko round two, Lessar just gonna
be all over him, and FrankMier can't get hit like that. So
yeah, I'm definitely of the sameopinion. Greg really hit it with.
One of the reasons that people sortof buy into this is the fact that
not only did your sim in himthe first time, but people see it
as, oh, he's got thisstand up now, he has no footwork.
(02:03:11):
He throws the same combinations. Hethrew the same combinations repeatedly against No
Garret, he changed nothing, essentiallythe same thing sixty times in a row,
and No Garrett was so either riddledby staff or just it is so
physically depreciated that he literally offered nooffense or defense whatsoever. If you look
at Frank Miner, if you takeaway that fight and look at his fights
(02:03:32):
at this level against guys, whenthey go past three four minutes, it's
a dire, dire state essentially. The only fights that have gone sort of
past that marked for him, orthe second west Sims fight, which was
a complete debacle and we know whatwest Sims isn't isn't and it took him
(02:03:53):
nearly nine and a half minutes scoreone of the ugliest chaos in history.
And the other is his life anddeath strung goal with Dan Christison, which
you can make the argument he lostthe fight. This isn't going to go
well if you look at sort ofwhat happens to Frank mieror once he FETs
tired and starts getting hit, ifyou look at the paid upon a fight
with a Brandon Verify or even IanFreeman fight, it's not going to go
(02:04:15):
well. On the feet Lessner canknock him out I think Mirror may end
up underestimating Lessner's reach the way thatrandcutor did you know, trying to move
over the way, and then Brock'sarm just keeps coming and ends up smashing
in the face. In best casescenari if he gets on the ground where
maybe he could submit him, wherehe does have the skill to do it,
he's going to have an infinitesimal windowof time to do it before brock
(02:04:40):
Lessener's giant spam can hands starts smashinghim in the head. I don't think
it ends well, at least notif you're a Frank Miror fan. I
like brock Lessner by t KO inthe first round. All of us,
save for Mirror or for Lucky whopicked Mirror, went with brock Lessner.
How long has brock Lessner king ofthe UFC heavyweight division until? Yeah?
(02:05:06):
Why does that noise you make?I don't know? Okay? Um,
I was like asking Clinton where he'llbe next year? Until Fato arrives.
How about that fad or chance goesup Saturday a year? A year later,
we get it done. Here's here'sthe hypothetical question. Um. Obviously
(02:05:28):
I know, I know sort ofthe goal posts are different now we get
so much more emma because there's youknow, not just that we see,
but that just happens. We're sortof down with so many more fighters and
major fights. There's so many moreof them. If Fido million Anko ended
up in the USC in a yearand Broadclests are still headweight champion, where
does that fall on the panteon amajor fight? Is it the biggest heavyweight
(02:05:50):
fight in history? Does it?Does it take over goodn't a million Anko
and miracle procop? Is it thebiggest fight in history period? How do
we feel about that? If thatwould happened in the year m Yeah,
the biggest. It could be thebiggest fight in history. I mean the
biggest at least in terms of money. It depends depends. How do you
have seen you know, pluts outthe message of why fade or so amazing
(02:06:12):
and doesn't spend more you know, more energy on why he's not you know,
and they just have to bust outthe sixty five million dollar Pride Library
and everyone will find out. Yeah, okay, but think of it,
but just think of it in termsof sort of like irrelevance perspective, Like
does that it's probably not even evenwith Lestner. I don't know at that
top you know, uf T sixtysix or something like that. Um.
(02:06:34):
But he respective of that, isit sort of the most the most potent,
the most salient, something where youjust think like this is this is
epic once in a lifetime sort ofstuff, because when you think about sort
of the path that both would havetaken, the opinions people hold of them
in sort of the stake too heavyweightin the may is that the biggest fight
(02:06:55):
ever? Does that take over fora like I guess maybe a Saint Pierre
pen two or something of that nature. And let me put you this way,
it's the biggest fight ever has beenalmost has been involved Fader and I
can't think if anybody else he wouldfight that would fit that Bill um Bobby.
Lastly, okay again we have wehave steaken relevance here. Um.
(02:07:19):
So the biggest fight in relevance wiseJordan has to be fit Ore against crow
Pop. I mean, that's history. So I think I don't know.
I mean, here's the question, here's the question, if you could,
if you could have one fight, don't think about the implications, just think
about them. Like in a vaccuum. It doesn't mean that any guy is
with the UFC or anything like that. You just get one fight or the
(02:07:40):
other. Would you rather have Andersonsilvangan story, Jean Pierre or Brock the
lessner assume he wins against Superman ormeans more it's heavyweight. Even though it's
a superficial reason, it's still areason. Nonetheless, Yeah, I'm gonna
go with the fight that seems morefantastical than the one that could actually happen
in six months. Okay, anywayelse, any any other thought. I
(02:08:03):
agree the heavyweights make it. Youknow. That's what's so sad is that
right now the heavyweight is you havethe heavyweight champ for you know, until
possibly Fader comes along, it's gonnabe broadcasting. See the reasons the reason
I sort of like question that doeshave that angle of if you go with
the heavyweights, there's almost like acompassionate sense like, oh, I have
(02:08:24):
to help them out the division. It's so fractured. No one like really
don't get top guys fighting each other, and Saint Pierre and Silvia doesn't seem
like something you have to wish for. If we had anima Nostrodamis, by
the way, who called us threeyears ago and said, you know this
is actual conversation from Suret already nowour round table in the future, we'd
all be like, yeah, yeah, But what would be better is when
(02:08:48):
we go really interesting. Someone's gonnafight George Saint Pierre, and then you
go, well, first George Champiais gonna lose to Matt Sarah, but
then after that, like that guythat just bit Minsu Kim. Yeah,
he's it's gonna be the heavyweight champion. Good time, good times. All
right, that does it for us. All of our picks are in.
We'll get them up on the sherblogs later today. So if you can
(02:09:11):
look at them, decide who youwant to bet on, who you don't
want to bet on, who youwant an email and laugh that and all
that good stuff. Before we getout of hearing, Jeff, I will
award Junie Honors of Chaos submission andin Fight of UFC one hundred. What
are you thinking? Wow, umko, I don't even think I took
any koos, but uh, I'mgoing to say ko of the Night will
(02:09:33):
go to um stuff of Bonnor overmy heart Coleman. Uh submission seven.
Yeah, submission is that submission actuallyis going to be hard for jessin t
he literally submission I never I don'tnever do um. I'll say uh stun
(02:09:56):
gun And that's certainly not quite tohappen. But nonetheless fight the ober homer
uhl of the night and obviously thebiggest fight of the night that's gonna happen.
To say Jake, it's beautiful becausethose are two guys who clearly need
extra money. Well, you know, six months of sponsorship. Man,
