Speaker 1 (00:01):
Yeah, it's time now for the between rounds recap recapping
the ladies news in combat sports between rounds recap recaps.
Here's your host to the man who knows speinack granted
necat Red.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
It's Friday, March the fourteenth, and this is your rounds recap.
My name is Brandon mccaff so let's kick off things
in the grappling world. Saturday is shaping up to be
a monumental day for jiu jitsu. All eyes are going
to be on Tampa, Florida for Sabatia. They're putting one
hundred thousand dollars on the line for the winner of
(00:36):
a sixteen man bracket. That's crazy. In a sport where
prize money, I mean it pales in comparison to MMA
or even other combat sports, this kind of payout is
really strong. It signifies another grassroots organization stepping up to
help professionalize jiu jitsu, like elevating the stakes for the
athletes and definitely attracting a higher level of competition and
(00:58):
attention onto the sport. Now, this kind of financial backing
can really be a catalyst for a lot of new
growth and investment into the grappling world. On the mats
for this bracket. You're gonna expect to see some serious talent.
I got Ethan Crohn's Di Jiohnny Grippo, DeAndre Korbe Max Hansen.
All of these guys schedule to compete on this bracket. Now,
if you want to witness this, if you want to
(01:20):
watch it, I'll be watching it live. I'm buying the
pay per view tomorrow Saturday, March the fifteenth, six pm Eastern.
Go to Sapatiro's Instagram click that link in their bio.
That's the easiest invest way to get it. I am
not sponsored by Sapatiro. I'm just a fan of jiu
(01:41):
jitsu and this is going to be a great jiu
jitsu event. I believe they're charging twenty five bucks. That's
worth it for me to see who wins one hundred
thousand dollars in our sport. I mean, it's pretty clear
jiu jitsu is experiencing a period of remarkable expansion. We
got so many great events, Sapateiro, Fight Pass Invitational or
run Us Pass, you got Polaris, cji EBI, ADCCN, of
(02:04):
course the PGF. There has never been a better time
to be a fan of jiu jitsu, I think that
the next twelve months in the jiu jitsu industry are
poised to be groundbreaking, especially with recent developments like Dana
White pushing twelve million dollars across the table as an
investment in jiu jitsu. I mean, that's a pretty exciting
(02:26):
development that sets a stage for some unprecedented growth, I think,
and it's gonna be fascinating to see how the rest
of the industry responds. Are other promotions gonna step up
to meet the moment or are they gonna fade back?
Can we see some of these promotions get absorbed by
the giant that is the UFC, or maybe even the
PGF absorbs everything. There's really never been a better time
(02:47):
to be a fan of the sport. There's so many
cool storylines taking place. Speaking of groundbreaking in the sport
of jiu jitsu, I got some news that you're hearing
for the first time right here. PGF Season eight is
officially on the way and the draft is set to
take place June to twentieth, twenty twenty five. That's right.
PGF hasn't even made this announcement, so you're getting the
(03:10):
inside scoop right here on the podcast, and for all
you nerds out there, Season eight will feature competitors in
the one hundred and fifty five pound weight class. For
those unfamiliar, PGF is a very unique team based jiu
jitsu competition with a draft format. It's a full season
just like regular sports, but it's done with jiu jitsu.
It's always the highlight of the grappling calendar. You definitely
(03:32):
do not want to miss even the build up to that,
So stay tuned to my channels for more updates and
just keep subscribing to this podcast right here now. Listen,
let's shift gears. Let's talk about some MMA action this
Saturday night. Also, besides Sapatiro for jiu jitsu, this Saturday
night also features a UFC Fight Night event headlined by
(03:54):
a middleweight rematch between Marvin Vatory and Roman Delitze. Now,
these two previously lash at UFC two to eighty six
in March of twenty twenty three, where Victory took the
unanimous decision victory. This time around for Tori looking to
re establish himself as a top contender in the division
because he just lost to Jered kennoneer back in June
(04:15):
of twenty twenty three. I say, just lost. That's been
a little bit, but that was the last time we
saw him. Meanwhile, de LEDs will be aiming to avenge
that prior to defeat and continue his winning streak. He's
been more active since their first encounter and he had
a big win over Kevin Holland. Rematches always carry an
extra layer of excitement and intrigue, and this one's no different.
(04:35):
Both fighters definitely have something to prove, and I say
it's must win. These guys want to step up to
that next layer of competition. Somebody's stepping forward and somebody's
stepping back. The co main event is another exciting matchup.
This one's in the welterweight division. Check out me reading
these names Cheety Jilcani woh and Elizu Zalski Dos Santos.
(04:59):
Check at your boy from Alabama trying to read names.
I'm doing good. This promises to be a thrilling contest
between two veteran finishers eager to climb the welterweight rankings.
Both fighters known for the striking prowess, and that suggests
that there's gonna be an explosive stand up battle. Other
compelling fights on the main card lightweight bout between Alexander
(05:21):
Hernandez and Kurt Halliball, bantam weight clash, Demon blackshear versus
Cody Gibson, light heavyweight fight Dar Oh my Gosh, Dr
Mugasee and Brenson Hibberro. Those are tough. Fight fans also
(05:41):
are going to want to tune into the preliminary card,
which includes a heavyweight showdown between Waldo Cortes Acosta and
the always exciting Ryan Span. Span a pretty recognizable name
with the history of putting on pretty exciting fights, so
his presence on the prelims is a pretty solid reason
to tune in early. UFC Fight Night prelims kickoff four
(06:02):
pm Eastern. Main card goes down seven pm Eastern. And
now for the best part, I want you to join
me this Saturday night. I'm gonna do a live watch
along party on my YouTube channel. I will be showing
the fights, but I'll be kind of covering in real
time everything that's happening with Sapaziro and with the UFC
Fight Night. Come hang out, chat with other fight fans,
(06:24):
just act like a general fool and spend some time
with your boy b mac Brandon mccaffrne. It's gonna be
an epic night of combat sports. I want you there
hanging out with me and make sure finally to never
miss a beat in the ever evol jiu jitsu. And
then make sure you subscribe to this podcast and subscribe
to my YouTube chat so you can say that you're
(06:44):
