Speaker 1 (00:00):
Three, two, one go.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
It is the Rounds podcast, kind of like a broken
edition on my side. Hey, everybody on TJ. To say this,
some people call me TD stands for technical difficulties. It's
not a good nickname. A good nickname, though, is b
MAC Brandon mccatherine. In this time of year, as PGF approaches,
we just call him the commission your leader, the one

(00:23):
and only, the most powerful man who does not abuse it.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Brandon mccathryn, how are you?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I'm losing my mind, dude. Every year, about two weeks
before the PGF I drop into a deep and funky
existential crisis and we find ourselves in the throes of
such right now, I love you TJ. I'm happy to
see you.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
I love you too, And you do wield the power.
And right now preseason it doesn't necessarily get to your head,
but it might. You might start seeing those flags flying
and the Commissioner going yeah, yeah, more of that. We
need more action in PGF, Ladies and gentlemen. PGF creates characters,
some good guys, some bad guys, some stars, maybe some
anti heroes. The Mouth of the South Matt Elkins, he

(01:09):
is a PGF veteran. Are we going face or he'll
be mac on on.

Speaker 1 (01:13):
Matt Elkins.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Oh, I.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
Feel like it just depends on what the people want,
and right now they want me to keep rocking these shades.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
I don't know where b macs are.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Oh you know where they are, dude?

Speaker 4 (01:28):
While he finds them.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Oh God, it's happen.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
You don't bother me.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
It's great to hear you. I need you to read audio.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
Books to me. Mister Elkins. It's so buttery, it's so nice,
it's so southern.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
It's like a biscuit.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
He is like a like a big old slab of
gravy and biscuits, isn't.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
He Everybody loves biscuits. Brother, We know you love biscuits.
Due now, It's true.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Everyone loves their good biscuit. I don't know what Christo's
papadella Us likes. He's another PGF veteran, also potential star
in the making of season eight. Christos, how are you
what's going on?

Speaker 5 (02:09):
Guy?

Speaker 2 (02:11):
He doesn't have the voice like Matt Elkins does, but
he's got one of the coolest names ever.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
B Mac.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
I'm surprised that you haven't reduced Christos Papadellis to like
Chris Papa.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
You know, Papadellos just like it flows right, you know
what I mean him have it.

Speaker 4 (02:28):
The man's got a hell of a hairline. I'll give
him that.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
He's handsome, dude. It's it's super upsetting. At least we
got the handsome consolidated into one space on the bottom
of the video. And then there's me and TJ.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Here.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Oh you lumped yourself into it. Thank you. I thought
it was gonna be just me in the corner again.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
No, no, we got two on two today, TJ.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
I like it.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Hey, Christos, how many times have people just just destroyed
your name when trying to call it? Then?

Speaker 6 (03:01):
The first name, not too much. The last name. It
can be rough sometimes, but uh not usually people get it.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Right, man.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
At least at least it sounds the way it looks
on paper.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
Though.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Imagine your last name is mccathryne.

Speaker 7 (03:16):
Yeah, you just can't do it.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
So that's funny.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
Be Back be Back came into eb I eighteen and
he said his name was Brandon mccathrine and I thought
it was like mc A or mc c A, t
H E R whatever, And uh, I called you mccatheryne
for the first show, and then I think for ten
shows I called you mccagrin and you didn't correct me.

(03:41):
And then I'm still sure that it is mccagrin and
you just don't know how to say it.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
It's mccaulgrin, mcaulgrin.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
You just said a word you can't say on TV
in there.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah, well I got more of those in the bag.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Oh man, are you jealous? Matt Elkins of Christos? Who
is you know, just weeks away from starting? You know
here in PGFD, do you feel like you were in
his position or if you want to be in his
position with the whole season in front of you, or
are you kicking back feeling good watching from the sidelines.

Speaker 5 (04:14):
I've had my feed up boys taking a couple of
victory laps, and I'm sure that mister Poppadellos is going
to go out there and make us all very proud.
And you know, I don't think that my day is done,
but this this time, this day, I'm done.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (04:32):
I mean I say in combat sports all the time.
Can you still hear me? Am I still here? I
feel like everybody is retired until they're not, even if
you don't say you're retired like John Jones retired like
two years ago. Guys, it just was announced now, you
know what I mean? He can't ever count on anything.
Oh yeah, well he's still retired until he steps foot

(04:55):
in the octagon.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
I understand how it feels. You know, Wow, Woodie? Right now?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
Is there a weird audio source coming in somewhere?

Speaker 7 (05:09):
No, No, it's just gonna work outside on my end,
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Are you? Are you having a castle built or something
for yourself? Are you? Are you to have the next
PGF castle? Kristo? So what was draft night like for you?

Speaker 6 (05:27):
It was cool, man. I mean, people were hating on
me app in.

Speaker 7 (05:29):
For three four minutes whatever, but they went home with
like two grand and I went home with fifty three.

Speaker 6 (05:34):
Hundred, So I don't really care what they have to say.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Yes, lot, how much do you sort of prepare for
the mic time in PGF? Because that's the thing that's
really cool about it. Obviously, you want to win the
matches that are in front of you, want to win
the team title and the overall playoff championship, but you
get a lot of moments win, lose or draw to
just be yourself and it's gonna, you know, be live

(06:00):
on the broadcast. It's archived on the documentary side of things,
like do you sort of go into the season going
this is the not character, but this is the maybe
your character that you want the world to see.

Speaker 6 (06:15):
For sure.

Speaker 7 (06:16):
I mean, what makes the PGF so special to me
from a competitor's perspective and an athlete's perspective is I'm
gonna have fifteen chances to go submit somebody at a
high level in front of thousands of people online and
then get a microphone in my face to say whatever
I want to whoever I want. So yeah, to say
I'm not thinking about that would be foolish. Obviously, have

(06:39):
match just to win. I have a lot of kills
to get a lot of points to put up. But yeah, definitely,
definitely something that is a part of the game. From
the moment you step put in the building at the
draft to the moment you step out of the building
at the end of the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (06:57):
It's all part of the game. That's kind of how
I see it.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
I like b Mac loves that you call it the
game too, because he loves the support references.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
B Mac.

Speaker 2 (07:04):
But you have to enjoy how Christos is feeling it,
because like, how many stars or not even necessarily stars,
but how many people. Has the PGF really opened up
to the jiu jitsu world to really understand who they
are on and off the back, because I think that
PGF does that better than anybody.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
Uh yeah, I mean the entire thing is built for
the athletes to be able to do something like this
for themselves. I'm not just trying to build something that
is like another tournament, you know what I mean? Like,
in fact, I want to move the PGF away. I don't.
I hate when people go, oh, this is the coolest tournament.

(07:41):
The PGF is not a tournament. Like, don't even I
don't even want you thinking about it the way that
you think about the rest of the jiu jitsu scene.
Like I do not consider the PGF in competition with
any other event, like on any level, because nothing else
is like it the PGF Sports. The PGF is the NFL,
The PGF is the NBA, it's the NHL, it's MLB,

(08:02):
it's MLS, it's Premier league. The PGF is sports. It's
runs in a season, it runs in a league. We
have no competition and Christos understands that assignment. Matt Elkins
understands that assignment. When matt Elkins gets a microphone put
in front of his face, he builds his career. When
Christos gets a micro microphone put in front of his face,
he builds his career. So yeah, I appreciate these two

(08:24):
guys across the bottom of the screen as much as
anybody on the planet.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
Right now, the mouth of the South.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
How much did you sort of prepare for getting on
the mic and starting everything with well, your boy thinks
this and I your boys ready to do this? Because
that was like a key staple of a matt Elkins
post match interview.

Speaker 4 (08:40):
I would say that started at about age six. Brother.
You know, getting getting classically bullied.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
In middle school was also a prerequisite. And h just
a little bit of authenticity and a little little charisma
and then maybe you have the makings of one of
the PGF greats. But mister Popadelis does a fine job
of that. Rocks the hairline, promotes the sponsors. There's a

(09:08):
when picking the when picking the character. It's just as
I think that people try to focus too much on
what they how they want to do it, and really
there's just a bunch of ways to not do it,
and you need to avoid You need to avoid those ways,
you know, getting on there and cussing up a storm.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
You know.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Well, let's be honest too.

Speaker 2 (09:28):
The character rings through, and I think that's why Christos
is really someone to keep an eye on this season.
You've had that PGF taste, Christos. What was it like
going in, you know, last time, and a lot of
circumstances have changed going into season eight. Does it feel
the same or does it feel completely different?

Speaker 7 (09:47):
It feels the same in the sense that I'm getting.

Speaker 6 (09:51):
That excitement, Like I know, once Week one.

Speaker 7 (09:53):
Starts, I'm just going to be in that zone for
the five weeks. Like I granted I wasn't even like
fully really a part of them last season. I had
matches at the end, all throughout the whole week. I'm
just like, man, this is the best week ever.

Speaker 6 (10:05):
Like this, I've never had more fun in my life.
And the fact that I'm going to be competing every
week this time, it's cool.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
Man.

Speaker 6 (10:14):
It doesn't feel much different, It really doesn't.

Speaker 7 (10:16):
I know, I was prepared for like a completely different roster.
It all got changed up, honestly, maybe even like more
favorable matches as now they're even more for me to
be excited about.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
And there's still a bunch of high level guys.

Speaker 7 (10:32):
So any win I can pick up throughout the season
is is gonna be one I'm gonna be proud of.

Speaker 5 (10:37):
So, Christos, you said you had how many matches last season?

Speaker 6 (10:41):
I had three on on the final day of the theation.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
That's the that's the power of the mic. The pen
is mightier than the sword. The mic is mightier than
the moves. My brother, only the moves. That's that's the truth.
That's the absolute truth. And I I was there and
I totally didn't realize that my man only had three matches.
I thought he was there at least at least two
or three days. But he left in a He left

(11:06):
the lasting impression with the old microphone there.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Yeah, you can hear it, utilize it. Go ahead.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Here's a good question actually from the gallery. Why is
christ no smooth comp profile private? What's he hiding?

Speaker 1 (11:24):
You gotta pay for it? It's only OnlyFans thing, right, Chris.

Speaker 6 (11:28):
It's like behind a pay wall smooth comp Yeah, I
just keep it pryd.

Speaker 7 (11:33):
I don't know. I'm a weirdough, I just like keeping
private and I'm like, haha, you can't see it, but
there's really.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
Not much to it. That's about it.

Speaker 7 (11:40):
I just like to clown on my opponents searching me, like, Nope,
you can't see it.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
That sole job, that's it.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah, Hey, I was looking at I I finally got
invited to the Athlete WhatsApp chat. I don't know why
I was so late to the party, be mac, but
you want you want to talk about the move that
everyone was debating on whether or not it would be
a kill or a break, because I'm on the fence
on what it even is.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Well, apparently Dojohnny has a secret move called the Kosovo Cradle,
and apparently he's hit it in competition several times. He
sent me some footage last night of him hitting it
in competition. I think he actually hit it one of
the qualifiers as well. So the question was is it
three or six? Yeah, he's making the case for it

(12:29):
to be six. I think Christos you might have been
making the case for six as well. Can correct me
if I'm wrong. I look at it and I see
it as three. So there's debate on it. We're gonna
have to let him put me in it at the
way ends before I can make an official judgment.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
It's like a rib crushing move though, right, Like, it's
not a choke.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
It's a cradle. And then he locks a body triangle
around you.

Speaker 7 (12:54):
Okay, I mean I would probably consider it similar like
if someone tapped from a body trying, would you call
that a.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Kill or a breath?

Speaker 1 (13:02):
That's a break?

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Take the soul on the back here.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
This is my thing for for it to be a kill,
it should kill you. If I don't let go, you
will pass out and die. That's a kill.

Speaker 7 (13:13):
If I can't breathe because the body triangles so tight,
and then I pass out because.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
How long does it take? How long does it take
to pass out?

Speaker 3 (13:21):
That time out?

Speaker 1 (13:22):
All right, commission.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
You have never been in a body triangle that makes
it to where you can't breathe and.

Speaker 6 (13:27):
You're gonna pass out, dude.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
Plenty of them that hurt You've been in plenty of
them that make you miserable and make it hard to breathe,
But you've never been in one that would kill you.
Never never tell me, tell me on.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
Your your heart stops pumping the diesel in the body triangle,
and then you just give up, and that's that's a break.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
But I also don't want my.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
Ribs popped by a young fella putting me in a
cradle and a body triangle at the same time. That
doesn't sound pleasant, and that's why I'll be watching from
the couches.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
I mean, I'm next to you, bou Mac, and my
ideology doesn't matter nearly as much as you guys. But
I think it should be oh thank you for that.
It should be will this kill you? Or is this
just going to break you?

Speaker 1 (14:13):
And a break?

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Sometimes if it's a rib crushing break, it's not necessarily
breaking your bones, but it's breaking your spirit, and that's
a break. It's got to either break you literally or
figuratively or kill you, and it kills hard to get.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
That's why it's forth se.

Speaker 6 (14:27):
When you put me in it, I couldn't fucking breathe.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
But how long would you How long until you pass out?
Is it twenty five minutes? Is it five minutes?

Speaker 7 (14:36):
I would say probably, like maybe like ten to fifteen seconds.

Speaker 6 (14:41):
Just killed, That's what I'm saying. I When you put
me in it, I definitely.

Speaker 7 (14:47):
You feel like the compression, of course, but it's more so,
like I cannot breathe anymore.

Speaker 6 (14:53):
And it doesn't take super long. If other chess compression
should be six, yeah, I'm with and don't get me wrong,
like it does not favor me for this move to
be six. I'm like that would be another team getting
more points. I'm just being honest.

Speaker 7 (15:10):
I think from my experience him putting it on me
and me seeing him hit it on other guys, it
seems like it's the breathing that stops. Is why guys
top not so much because they feel like the are
gonna break and it doesn't take very long.

Speaker 6 (15:24):
So I don't know. It's a tricky one. It's very tricky.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
I never thought it. I've never seen it before, so
you know, I feel like I got a pretty keen eye.
I feel like it's not an accident that I'm sitting
sideline for every big jiu jitsu match on the planet.
I don't think that's an accident. So I feel like
I got a keen eye. But I've never seen it before.

(15:48):
So I'm gonna reserve my final judgment, but I will
tell you my preliminary judgment is three.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
We saw that TP choke at the last FPI B
mac that seemed kind of similar to this, and like
the crushing he got a triangle out of that. It
was like a modified one. But that would be a
kill correct, sure, Yeah, because.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
It does choke. It just chokes. It's just a different
way that it chokes. But it causes the shoulder to
touch the artery and the legs cut in the other side.
So it's six for sure. On a TV.

Speaker 2 (16:22):
Do you remember Ivan Salvary Tony Frickland in the UFC
do Fricklin taps because the body triangle is way too tight.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
It's like a mounted back ride body triangle. He taps.
That's a break. He wasn't going to die.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
I mean, if he was going to pass out from that,
it would take literally his career.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
Definitely did. He's still a coach.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
I like Tony Fricklin, but uh, I think Anderson Silva
broke him with that elbow and KD Ridge was.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Bad as one does.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
But like, am I right?

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Be Mack.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
If you have a Salivary Fricklin type situation, that's a break.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
That's three.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
That's a break, maybe negative points for tapping to it,
you know, three three positive points for the break, minus
three points for your opponent.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
And the and the charisma goes down a little bit too.

Speaker 5 (17:15):
Uh, definitely as the kids are saying, the aura points
go down, definitely losing a little aura tap into the
body triangle.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
I like the way you say aura aura, or let
me say oil next. I don't know what that? What
is that all?

Speaker 4 (17:31):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
People just love when people from the South say it,
says saying oil.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
How do you say it to each oil?

Speaker 1 (17:37):
It's oil.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
There's an iron o that's English oil.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Gotta change your oil all.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
You see?

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Okay, give me another word to.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
Go spoiled, spoiled, spoiled the way that I speak, which
is clean, proper And because I'm a professional, I get
paid to sit next to b Mac. If I was
just like, you know this grappler, he's pretty shiny. They
need to check him for all, that would.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
Work it right?

Speaker 2 (18:12):
You have gotten me to say Bobby both of them. Yeah,
I feel pretty good about that because that was hard
for me. For Bobby, both of them, you know, both
of them.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Christ's like, why did I show up for this?

Speaker 3 (18:28):
It's a fair question.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
Uh, what's it been like with you chatting with some
of the other athletes, you know, having the team define
Christos is it does it start to feel like a unit?

Speaker 6 (18:40):
Oh? Yeah, for sure.

Speaker 7 (18:41):
No, I'm super super super happy with my team.

Speaker 6 (18:45):
The fact that me and land that ended up.

Speaker 7 (18:47):
On the same team with Andy being our coach, It's just, uh,
I really couldn't think of more ideal circumstances. I almost
like don't even care who else is on the team,
like selfishly, but we also happen to get a.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
Sick team around us as well.

Speaker 7 (19:03):
We've got Mike, Who've got Armin, We've got Brady, all
super tough guys, and.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
I think it's really like in my in.

Speaker 7 (19:13):
My mind, we're the favorites to win. I think I'm
one of the better finishers in the whole roster. I
think Landon low key. I mean, Jet is obviously up
there too, but Landon probably maybe the.

Speaker 6 (19:27):
Best finisher on the roster.

Speaker 2 (19:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:31):
I feel really good about our squad.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Man. You talked about how last season it was like
the best week ever, and now we're gonna have multiple weeks.
And I think about, you know, that first first night
b MAC, when it was the Gauntlet, we had a
little bit of an idea sometimes when a team would
jump out there, I mean season I think it was
five and epic role. I mean that season was almost
wrapped up after two blocks. It felt like, but now

(19:55):
you know, you're you're gonna have all these athletes go
out role have results come back, and we might not
actually see anybody pull away until like the third or
fourth week of this thing, and where we really get
a sense of things. Is that, like he said, best
week ever. I think we're gonna have like best weeks
ever and we're gonna have tons of time to talk
about it.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
It's gonna be really exciting.

Speaker 6 (20:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (20:17):
No, The fact that this is the fact that this
is gonna go on for five weeks and we're gonna
be in those scenarios, Oh I need this amount of
points and pass this person all we really need, you know,
a kill out of this guy or this guy. The
fact that we're gonna be playing this game for five
weeks in a row and fans are gonna be able
to keep up and think about these like what if
scenarios and what if this happens, if that's that happens

(20:40):
for over a month, so sick.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
I mean, who dominates the space feedback for a month straight?
Nobody Nobody's talking about one thing for a month straight.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Yeah, that's kind of the idea of making real sports
out of this thing. You know, like if you've gotta
have Fantasy League, you gotta have time to examine what happened,
look at the schedule that's coming up. And man, you know,
as much as I love the Shark week version of PGF,
that was never the original idea. That was never the

(21:11):
actual idea. That was what we did so that we
could continue to push the idea forward. But it's always
been the full season format is that's what season one was.
And you know, by smashing it down into a week,
we got to learn a lot, We got to scale quicker,

(21:33):
we got to make mistakes faster, and I think that
I think people are gonna I think by the time
Week three finishes that the whole jiu jitsu industry is
going to have all eyes on the PGF. There's nowhay
around it.

Speaker 2 (21:50):
That's one thing I will say about you, b Mack.
You get an idea and you don't really contemplate it.
You just get an idea, then you just go and
you figure it out on the way. And I think
PGF is a perfect exam that because if someone was
level headed and had the idea like you did in COVID,
maybe they'd be in season three, you know, trying to
figure it out, trying to play it safe. But you're

(22:11):
already in season eight and now it's just a completely
it's a different thing, but it's the same thing at
the same time, and you've really taken the good things
and emphasize them and refine the bad things. And but
that's the thing I'll say about you, b Mac. It's like, hey,
let's do this right now.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
That's you. Was that how PGF really was.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
Listen, man, I'm a firm believer that speed kills, speed
kills in sports and speed kills in business too. And
I think that the faster that you can iterate, move
fast and break stuff than the faster that you can
smash your competition into the dirt, you know, and the

(22:53):
faster that you can make mistakes and correct them. Like,
I don't have time or even desire to sit around
and try to get everything perfect before I launch it
and put it out to the world. Basically, you know
the guy who runs flow grap on now, Ben Kovacs,
when we were in discussions on something a few weeks back,

(23:19):
he said, this is so you know, he came from
the tech world. He came over from Twitter and like
he was working a tech up there in San fran
And he said, Man, this is so strange because PGF
operates more like a startup than it does a jiu
jitsu tournament. I was like, yeah, that's the idea. I'm

(23:40):
not here to put on a great tournament. I'm here
to take over the planet, you know what I mean.
And so I got to move fast, I got to
break things, and sometimes, you know, like I'm gonna win, dude,
I'm a winner. I might not always win today, like
right now, but in the long run, I'm always gonna win.
And that's what's gonna happen here. And if the way

(24:02):
I feel about it is that if anybody else wants
to win, I would like for you to win too.
Train's going that way, brother, jump on, find a seat,
strap in because the train is going this way.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
You've done a lot of things on that train. And
when you told me about it, I was fair, I'll
be honest, I was very dismissive. It's just it sounds
like that you were too many times before a league team.
It doesn't work in combat sports. I'm telling you it
does work at PGF. I'm definitely a believer now. But
the one thing that you told me that I was like,

(24:36):
you cannot do that. It will absolutely not work on television,
and that was calling a choke a kill. We don't
say kill, death anything like that in combat sports, but
it is so part of the vernacular at PGF, and like,
there's gonna be a point. I think we could probably
put it together now looking back at all the stats
and like, see a kill list of the most the

(24:59):
biggest killers, most amount of kills in PGF history, and
talk about that, Elkins. How many kills do you have
in PGF history? Do you know the most? That's probably
not at all true. Maybe it is, but the way.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
You said it, it's definitely true.

Speaker 6 (25:17):
Brother, Is it really? I ran the numbers this morning.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
It's definitely true.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
The most a killer over here that I'm not calling
you the mouth of the South anymore, and someone takes
it away from you, you're the killer, Matt Elkins.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
I definitely, uh.

Speaker 5 (25:30):
I definitely was had the luxury of season one where
there were some judo white belts in the season, you know,
racked up a couple of six point slam dunks on
some some of those fellows. So your boy got an
unfair an unfair lead. But you know, even in his
latest season six.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Your boys still got a couple of them.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
Strangles in there.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Brother Hoyce Gracie was the submission leader of the UFC
for like eleven years.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
He didn't really fight there that much. So yeah, I.

Speaker 5 (26:00):
Mean, there will be a young, a young stud eventually
that comes and takes my space, but I will rush
more by then.

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Maybe not, dude, because I've just while you guys were
talking with scrolling down the PGF match history and rankings
at PGF dot World, which, by the way, we can
talk about that ELO system here in the second if
you'd like. It looks like Matt Elkins has thirty one kills.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
That's gonna be tough to catch up to big head
Matt the massacre Elkins.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
I think that's right. Oh, I think I think that died.
Oh no, he's back, But yeah, I think that's right.
I think I counted thirty one. It was just a
quick quick glance down. But if you guys will check
this out, yeah, actually we'll we'll get around to that later.
I know that Christos has a hard stop here, So
I want to just like step out of the way.

(26:56):
I want to spotlight Christos for a second, and I
want to let him have total freedom to just do
whatever he wants. You got this platform here, Christos. Remember
you got to clip this for the ground. What do
you got, baby?

Speaker 6 (27:13):
What do you what do you want to talk about?

Speaker 1 (27:15):
This is your problem?

Speaker 3 (27:18):
Got the mind? We're not going to interrupt. Do your thing.

Speaker 6 (27:22):
Well, I'll say this, and I touched on this in
the video I put out on YouTube the other day.

Speaker 7 (27:29):
Like you said earlier, b Mac, this is not it's
not a regular jiu jitsu tournament.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
It's not a regular ju jitsu event.

Speaker 7 (27:35):
The way I kind of describe how you guys operate
the people you kind of said, oh, it's kind of
like a startup instead of jiu jitsu event.

Speaker 6 (27:41):
It's the way I see you guys.

Speaker 7 (27:43):
I see you guys's content creators first, who are trying to.

Speaker 6 (27:48):
Make ship get as many eyes on it as possible.
And then jiu jitsu.

Speaker 7 (27:52):
I don't want to say secondary because it's obviously a
big part of it.

Speaker 6 (27:55):
But you guys should just happen to love jiu.

Speaker 7 (27:57):
Jitsu and are using what you know from this creation
where like a lot of people don't know they go
look you up on.

Speaker 6 (28:03):
YouTube and these other platforms, like you know what the.

Speaker 7 (28:06):
Fuck you're doing, Like you know how to get eyes
on something that needs eyes on it.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
So if you could take those same methods and.

Speaker 7 (28:13):
Apply them to PGF like you're doing, I think we're
going to be in really good shape. And it's just
such an advantage having someone like that compared to other promotions,
like you know, people talking about prize money and this
and that, like, Okay, that's sick that we have a tournament.
We know, whe a million dollars at But at the

(28:34):
end of the day, that's good for like one guy,
you know, like the value in it.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
For me at least.

Speaker 7 (28:40):
Then I can't speak for everybody, but for me, it's
not winning a million dollars. Would that be sick, of course,
but one guy is going to win that Where the
value comes for me as the eyeballs. And that's something
I've definitely learned from you, Akilan and all you guys
is the eyeballs is really the most valuable thing here.

Speaker 6 (28:57):
So that's just what it's about. GGF man.

Speaker 7 (29:01):
Like the fact that said at the beginning, there's gonna
be thousands of people.

Speaker 6 (29:05):
Watching my matches every week.

Speaker 7 (29:06):
I have the opportunity to come out, show my skills
and then get a microphone stuck in my face.

Speaker 6 (29:13):
What's not the love?

Speaker 7 (29:14):
Whoever whoever back out or said no to that, or
said all this is stupid, or oh, I'm not doing
that because I got to go to Vegas for five weeks. Okay,
some people work or they have a gym, whatever, I understand,
but to not do it, just to not do it,
I'm calling it right now. And you guys are going
to see after probably a week one you fucked up.

(29:35):
And I'm just happy to be part of it. And
I think I'm more well equipped.

Speaker 6 (29:40):
Than like anyone in the roster really going in.

Speaker 7 (29:42):
I mean, obviously Jets a killer, He's a.

Speaker 6 (29:47):
Very talented kid. The problem I think he's going to.

Speaker 7 (29:50):
Have is is his main attacks or breaks, which is fine,
it's ten of them and it's not going to matter.

Speaker 6 (29:57):
But I think that's, you know, one of the advantages
I have.

Speaker 7 (30:00):
All my best moves are are chokes like Gilatines chokes
for the back, and I'm also well versed in the
legs if I need to go there. But in terms
of preparation and being prepped for the show Man. My
three main training partners are PGF Champion season four reesea
Fever Austin Qualifier winner, who's my teammate, Landon Elmore Massachusetts

(30:21):
qualifier winner Dominiquehea, And then my coach for the season
is PGF Champion Indirella. So it's like who is in
a better spot leading up to it and then throughout
the actual season than me.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
So and you just happen to have Gordon Ryan and
John Donnaher and the whole king. I would actually be
interested Christos in hearing how your preparation for that, Like,
how are they helping prepare you for that? They have
any like special insights or strategies that they're giving. I
know you don't want to give anything away too much,

(30:55):
but I'll be interested in hearing it how they've been
a part of it.

Speaker 7 (30:59):
Yeah, man, I mean a lot of the guys are
getting ready for a CGI right now, so most of.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
The preparation for.

Speaker 7 (31:08):
Upcoming concerts really just based on that. But the rules
that I believe just eight minutes sub only. It's quintet,
so we're getting eight minutes sub only matches. A few
of them at the end of you know, our positional rounds,
and I mean that's close enough to six for me.

Speaker 6 (31:23):
The playoffs are going to be ten, so that's a
nice little sweet spot in the middle.

Speaker 7 (31:26):
And personally me, I'm just jumping on chokes like I
will literally I don't want to say give up. Like
if I have an arm bar, I will work for
about a minute to switch to the triangle.

Speaker 6 (31:36):
I'll get a.

Speaker 7 (31:37):
Little greedy if I'm like, I'm not going to get this,
I'll settle for the break. But just stuff like that,
having the experience from last season, knowing that two three
four points could be the difference between the rankings and teams.
Like I said at the beginning, the whole thing is
a game, from the moment I stepped foot into the
room where the draft was at to the moment I

(31:58):
step out of the building after I win the playoffs.
It's all part of the game. And that's the number
one thing I picked up from last season. Even the draft,
it's a game as part of it, Like it's a
big part of it. And I think a lot of
guys didn't realize that just because they haven't experienced it before.

Speaker 6 (32:13):
So those couple of Days Out was there last season.
It went a long way, and.

Speaker 7 (32:19):
Having the lessons from that last season to use in
my preparation for the season has been amazing.

Speaker 3 (32:26):
Christas, before you go, man, take a chance right here
to hype up the Enigma real quick.

Speaker 6 (32:32):
Yeah, Yeah, We've.

Speaker 7 (32:33):
Got some cool stuff cooking up with the Enigma. If
you guys have never seen our site. Got a really
cool site subscription service only six to ninety nine a month,
no commitment, no nothing, got like maybe I don't know,
like ten or fifteen promotions on there at this point
that stream threw us. So you pay six bucks and
you can watch like three, four or five events every month.

(32:55):
We've got TAP Tournament coming up next weekend ran by
Patrick Olie up in Long Island, New York, and planned
East Long Island weekend.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
After that, we got DJJ.

Speaker 7 (33:04):
World Championship, which is kind of like a little brother
to CJI. They're doing a team event using CGI rules
over at B team ran by Ali and Freddy. We
got that coming up on the nineteenth, and then got
Enigma coming up in October. We're coming back to Blue
Collar Grappling Academy in Arkansas.

Speaker 6 (33:21):
Love the guys a blue collar.

Speaker 7 (33:23):
So we got a bunch of fun, really fun events
coming up and you can watch them all for six bucks,
as well as just a crazy crazy library of matches
that you can't find anywhere else. A lot of guys
on the come up, Guys like David Sassari, guys like
Max Hanson, Helene and grybar landon rees like Glue Griffith,
There's Joseph Chan Andrew Tacket. There's so many people on

(33:45):
there that you can kind of watch their come up
through Enigma and see it on Enigma TVA for like
six bucks. If you haven't seen that, go check that out. Also,
all the qualifiers for the season too. You can just
go search anyone's name and all their matches will come
up from any of the qualifiers, which is pretty cool.
So if you're trying to study matches, maybe study some
guys that did a qualifier, won a qualifier, you're gonna

(34:07):
need a nag the TV. It's gonna make your life
way easier. So you can go find that Enigma Jiu
Jitsu dot TV for six ninety nine.

Speaker 2 (34:15):
You going to sign up for that after it must
have It's a resource for sure. Chris Dos appreciate your time, sir,
we'll see you here. Uh one, Season eight starts and
uh see what you can do.

Speaker 6 (34:27):
Thank you guys so much. I appreciate it, all right.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
Christ Matt Elkins, Yes, indeed, look who it is.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
Well, the PGF is about to take its its final
and original form. The boys back there.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Hold on just a second, hold on just a second.
Sorry Matt to interrupt, but look at that. The room
just got a lot more handsome and talent sed right there.
Look at these boys popping in. You got Landon Elmore.
You got to graph back there.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
We hear you.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
You look like a boy band poster right now.

Speaker 2 (35:07):
They can't hear us. Didn't you see the way they
were positioned be back? They look like they were on
like the new kids on the block.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Yeah, what's up, Landing?

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (35:17):
I can't hear you out?

Speaker 6 (35:18):
What's up?

Speaker 3 (35:20):
What's up? Brother? What's up for grand So before you
guys go, let me before you guys cut loose here,
let me pop over to Matt. He's got a hard
stop right here. Let me just give him the camera
for one second. I'm coming right back to you. All right, Mattie,
you're in baby.

Speaker 5 (35:42):
I'm sorry to cut you. You fine, young man short
a little bit, but your boy does have to bounce.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
I'm excited about.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
This season the PGF Man the PGF. This is the
original and final form of the PGF, the week two
week season. It's gonna be a much easier to consume
from the viewership model, It's going to be much easier
to promote with the week in between the matches.

Speaker 4 (36:05):
And then there's also the athletes.

Speaker 5 (36:06):
The athletes are going to get to recover, but they're
also going to have to sit around and think about
that matchup that they got coming up. You know, they
got one of the heavy hitters coming up in their
first match in a week's that's six nights of sleep
sitting there thinking about it. Your legacy on the line,
and so I'm very excited to see how the PGF
is taking this new elevation but its original form with

(36:30):
the week to week season, and I think that it's
going to be the biggest win in jiu jitsu right now.
I think that everybody's been enjoying a few different types
of grappling formats here lately, but I do think that
the PGF is going to bring what we all love
about sports to the forefront and I think that it's
gonna be much much easier to consume sitting on the

(36:52):
stream week to week. We love that as jiu jitsu nerds,
but you know, four or five hours every night of
the week is hard, like drinking out of a fire hose.
And so everyone's gonna get to sit back and put
their put their feet up and really enjoy watching these
boys do the work. And I'm excited about the young
talent that's coming in this season. A smaller weight class,
a lot of a lot of young up and coming

(37:14):
dudes gonna be in there trying to scrap it out,
trying to take the title from some of these guys,
and a lot of talent you got, of course, some
some handsome devils like Chris Popadello's right there, mister Christos,
is gonna do fine work, make good on.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
A full a full week.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
You guys got obviously a front runner out of Jet Thompson.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
And uh yeah, I will.

Speaker 5 (37:33):
I will be there waiting to see all the fireworks,
just the same as you are. I can't wait, fellas,
It's gonna be awesome.

Speaker 3 (37:41):
All right, Thanks Matt, We'll let you get out of here, dude.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
Love you boys, all right.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Matt, I'm gonna pop the cam back over here. Love
to hear from landing. Hear how he's preparing. Hear what
he's got going on Landing. You got the floor, baby,
let's go. Hey wait wait wait wait.

Speaker 2 (38:01):
Just want to tak to the computer if you can,
or the phone.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah, we gotta we gotta bump your volume up there.

Speaker 2 (38:07):
Either that or does he have one ear Okay, you
have the mic? Christas, can you give him? Can you
just switch air pods? No, I want this to be
done where he whispers in your ear. That's amazing.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Christs, Christas, give give the ear piece over to landing
because that's the one with the mic on it.

Speaker 8 (38:26):
Okay, all right, can you hear me again?

Speaker 6 (38:35):
We got perfect?

Speaker 8 (38:39):
Yeah, I've just been training consistently, Like me and Christs
have been working like you know, different submissions for that,
like specifically work for PGF really well, like kills.

Speaker 6 (38:49):
He loves his kills.

Speaker 8 (38:50):
So I'm more of a break guy. But so we
help each other in that way.

Speaker 6 (38:54):
But we've just been preparing.

Speaker 8 (38:55):
Man, I know we were a couple of weeks out,
so we're both super excited.

Speaker 3 (38:58):
What's the part your most like? What is it about
the entire PGF ecosystem that gets you the most fired up.

Speaker 8 (39:07):
I think it's the amount of matches that I'm going
to get, Like i'd say, in about a year, I
probably get, you know, not doing so many tournaments, I
maybe get thirty forty matches and PGF I'm literally getting
guaranteed fifteen matches. So that's already like almost the like

(39:28):
half of the matches that I would get in almost
a year. So I guess the volume of matches that
are going to get. Not to mention the skill of
each opponent too, it's really nice I get to fight
some high level opponents like jet I think I have
some like I don't know, I haven't pretty soon so
we'll get to see that.

Speaker 2 (39:46):
Are you excited to do the personal interviews and let
the let the world in on kind of who you
are off the mat Yeah?

Speaker 8 (39:53):
I mean I've been waiting for an opportunity like that,
so I'm not gonna let it go to waste.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Short and sweet, I like that answer or be back.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Yeah, he does. What's going on? TJ Grill? This kid
man put him through the ringer right here? What we
got him a ringer?

Speaker 2 (40:07):
Yeah, I mean this is different this feels like a
much different tournament. Like obviously you say you want to
get matches, you know that the number is great, but
this is also a psychological thing. You know, this is
something where it's weak. After week, you get hurt. You know,
all of a sudden, not only is your future maybe
in uh, you know, jeopardy, but you have a team

(40:29):
on your back. And that goes the other way too.
You try to pick up other guys when they're down.
What is that mentally like for you? Because it's not
just you going in to get some matches, it's you
trying to win for a bigger cause.

Speaker 6 (40:41):
Almost yeah, of course, and almost.

Speaker 8 (40:45):
I mean it's really hard to get me to break mentally.

Speaker 6 (40:50):
So whenever something comes.

Speaker 8 (40:51):
Up like this where it's like a big task a
hand that usually I am usually able to perform. So
if the nay need to clutch up on points, I
can definitely do that.

Speaker 6 (41:01):
You need me to get a.

Speaker 8 (41:02):
Kill, I can definitely do that. So I thought of
having a team running on my back doesn't make me
nervous as much as it does make me excited. So
whenever I have some pressure like that, I'm I'm usually pretty.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Good beeback the confidence is terrifying.

Speaker 3 (41:17):
Well, you know, he's got a reason to feel confident.
This is this is a guy who came out in
the qualifiers and like real talk, dominated everybody that got
put in front of him. Like he dominated it, not
just positionally, like he put people away and the comp

(41:38):
You know what. Another thing, man, he's he's young and
quote unquote just a blue belt, and so a lot
of the pressure that a lot of these more experienced,
older black belt guys have, they're gonna be feeling pressure.
You don't have that pressure. It's all upside for you,

(41:59):
right exactly.

Speaker 8 (42:03):
Yeah, Yeah, Like, like b Mac just said, it's there's
almost no pressure for me because technically I'm coming into this.

Speaker 6 (42:11):
As the underdog.

Speaker 8 (42:12):
So I just all I have to do is perform
versus what these guys who are more experienced, they have
to live up to, you know what they are?

Speaker 1 (42:21):
Hey, v Mac, real quick be Maac.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
Do you know off the top of your head how
many qualifiers have gone on to be on championship winning teams?

Speaker 1 (42:30):
As an egghead question, I.

Speaker 3 (42:31):
Know, yeah, I don't. I don't know the answer.

Speaker 2 (42:34):
That I would love to find that out because as
a qualifier, you work so hard to get there, and
I can't wait for the day where we see a
qualifier get all the way to the finals or win
the thing.

Speaker 1 (42:45):
Have we come close to that yet? B mac.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
Man, I actually don't know the answer that question, TJ.

Speaker 1 (42:52):
That's why I ask good questions, and this is hard question.

Speaker 3 (42:55):
I have a question for you Landon. Did you so
you went for sixteen hundred in the draft? Did you
feel did you feel disrespected by that at all?

Speaker 8 (43:05):
M not disrespected because I don't want to I don't
want to play myself up to be like super crazy,
so ithing like wow, Like I just felt undervalued. Maybe
under undervalued is a better word, because I didn't feel
as much disrespect Like I wasn't offended or anything. I
was just like, oh okay, like this is a great

(43:26):
opportunity for me to go in and show like, hey,
I'm worth more than sixteen hundreds. So respected, I would say,
more undervalued?

Speaker 3 (43:35):
Uh, just real quick? How many money bags are you
gonna win this season?

Speaker 6 (43:40):
As as I can maybe?

Speaker 3 (43:44):
How many of them are going to be yours when
this thing wraps up?

Speaker 8 (43:47):
Hopefully thirty nine I'll leave one for crystals, I said,
thirty nine, I'll leave one for crystals.

Speaker 2 (43:59):
So oh man, well, I appreciate the time. We'll let
you guys get back to it and see you here
in a couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (44:07):
Sure you all right, Landon Elmore, You got anything else
for Christos man?

Speaker 1 (44:16):
I gotta know, no, we've gotta let this man go.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
Okay, I gotta pop out of here.

Speaker 2 (44:22):
I got I got one thing to wrap up with,
b MAC. But but Christ's thank you for your time, sir. Well,
we'll see you here in Vegas.

Speaker 6 (44:27):
Thank you, guys, appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (44:30):
All right, he's checking out.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
This has been a very weird, sweet scene switching day.
We need Keelan because Keelan can, B MAC kind of can.

Speaker 3 (44:41):
Yeah, you know what, it's live, it's live TV. We're good.

Speaker 2 (44:44):
I I shouldn't talk. I've had the worst tech day
of my life. But I want to close with uh
something that's pretty personal to me, B Mac, because Christo
said something a few times throughout talking about his previous
PGF experience. In the PGF coming up, he said we
and he wasn't just talking about his team. He was
talking about the PGF everybody that is involved. It is

(45:05):
a team experience, not only throughout the season, but behind
the scenes, and I've been a part of some really
great things.

Speaker 1 (45:13):
You know.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
I look at the Eddi Bravo Invitational and I think
that is the catapult to what jiu jitsu is today.
You can credit Metamoris a little bit for kind of
outlining it, but EBI solidified that you can have a
jiu jitsu fight night. PGF is doing something different, and
it's really important for me to be a part of

(45:35):
that cornerstone because, like I said.

Speaker 1 (45:37):
I've done things in the past.

Speaker 2 (45:38):
I think we can't take all the responsibility for the
success of UFC, BJJAP MAC. I think that is obviously
a very strong brand, one that would have got to
this level with or without us, but I think that
we had a prominent part there throughout. I do ten
of eleven fpis. It's exciting to do pg and try

(46:00):
to put that effort in behind it because everybody believes
it's special and you get to come in and see,
as you said, as season unfold, things change. There's constant flux.
It is one of the most stressful but cool broadcast
environments I've ever been in. I mean, showing up the

(46:21):
first day for the season five draft, there was a
trade and I didn't know what the rules were, and
I'm looking at you and you're like, I don't know
what the rules necessarily are either. Let's find out as
they happen, because you're just making it up as you
go and it becomes a beautiful little product. And I'm
very happy to be there. This is going to be
my fourth season, b MAC. And you know, I really

(46:41):
appreciate you trusting me to do play by play and
help you build the next big thing in the sport
of jiu jitsu. No, let me rephrase that, help you
build the next big thing in sports.

Speaker 3 (46:52):
The next big thing in sports and TJ. I appreciate
you being a part of it, and as far as
I'm concerned, you're a crucial part of it. And you've
got a place not just with the PGF forever, but
with me and my family and my heart forever. You're
the man. I love you tremendously. I think you're the
best industry. It's a no brainer. Even if I hated you,

(47:13):
I'd still have to give you the spot.

Speaker 2 (47:15):
I mean, I wanted to hate you because you sang
all the time, but you just stole my heart away
and we're definitely family forever. You know, I think I
don't want to say that people should appreciate me because
that sounds cocky and arrogant. But I don't think people
really realize what a play by play guy does. If
I ever get feedback, it's like, you don't talk about
technical jiu jitsu. I should never talk about technical jiu jitsu.

(47:36):
I leave that to b MAC, you know. And you
know PGF allows me to actually really shine because it's
weak to week, it's segments, it's hitting sponsors and things
like that, and I just I love the opportunity.

Speaker 1 (47:47):
Man. I can't thank you enough.

Speaker 3 (47:49):
And look right there, look right there.

Speaker 1 (47:53):
Oh, look at that.

Speaker 2 (47:54):
Well that's a different guy. I'll tell you that.

Speaker 1 (47:55):
On the left.

Speaker 2 (47:56):
I don't know who that guy is. He's a little heavy.

Speaker 1 (48:02):
All right, teach we leaving.

Speaker 3 (48:04):
I gotta I gotta do, dude. I'm so sorry, but.

Speaker 1 (48:07):
No, no, you're good.

Speaker 2 (48:07):
I got I'm doing an interview for some media outlet
in Mexico here at the top of the hour, Big
in Mexico.

Speaker 1 (48:14):
Yeah, I think they heard about.

Speaker 2 (48:15):
My spaghetti love So all right, Uh, I want to
thank everybody for coming on the air. Matt Elkins, the massacre,
the murderer the Mouth of the South, be back. The
Commission's got commission things to do, and I gotta try
to figure out some Spanish other than uh miamo tagusta,
papa pretus or.

Speaker 1 (48:34):
Something like that. I'm teacher to say this. This has
been the rounds. We'll see you next time.

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
