Speaker 1 (00:03):
Well, well, well it's then I know what you're thinking
and works, TJ. That's what we're thinking too. Don't have
TJ for you today. He's supposed to be here eighteen
minutes ago. Is that right?
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Healing? Yeah, In fact, it was so long ago that
I can't count that high. And we just started without him.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
And he just texted me and said, why won't it
let me in?
Speaker 3 (00:40):
I can't say with us listen, we just we're.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
Just cracking off without him. Keeling is in position, Matt
Elkins is in position.
Speaker 3 (00:50):
Hey guys, what's up? Ladies and gentlemen. It's an honor
to be here on time training session. Imagine that some
of the white belts in the room don't know how
to show up to the training session on time. But
that is why they have one stripe on their white belts.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
Very the world's skinniest man.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
He's so lucky. I don't have my soundboard today.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
You know what I got?
Speaker 3 (01:26):
What do you got? TJ? Let us have it.
Speaker 4 (01:28):
You know, I've lost a lot of weight, and you
got to buy things when you lose weight, mainly close
but for you guys, I bought a fancy new white belts.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
With a white belt you don't train.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Is that a A two?
Speaker 1 (01:43):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:44):
No, no, no, it's it's literally a belt for your geens.
Speaker 3 (01:49):
You were getting back into jiu jitsu.
Speaker 4 (01:52):
He's no, that was that was the goal. I wanted
to get your hopes up and then destroy them. T J.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
There's still hope right in my little Alabama heart that
we're gonna get you that blue belt one day, blue
and through at least blowing through. At least, brother, I.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Thought I was a blue belt.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I want to get back to this elaborate Unfortunately, I
hate to distract you guys from enthralling conversation. TJ. Where
were you? Where were you going?
Speaker 4 (02:26):
I was trying to get in, but it wasn't letting me.
And then the internet. I don't think it's the greatest
here at this hotel, So I apologize for that.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
I don't think that people are ever going to forgive you.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
I want all.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Around the circle right now and say one bad thing
about TJ.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
TJ looks like a TJ looks like a red skintll bibblehead.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
What's a.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
I don't have anything to say.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
What I am going to say, though, is I do
not forgive you.
Speaker 4 (03:01):
You shouldn't, but why does it look like you're in
like the all seeing eye of the illuminati. I don't
understand what's going on there.
Speaker 1 (03:08):
I think we know the answer to that question.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
Brother, he's already he's already given it away. Dog, the
soul has been sold right there. Boom, it's over. We
got a great heart.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
We're in Vagan. You're in Vegas, but you're at the hotel.
We're in Vegas and we're at the castle.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
Yeah, I'm I'm in my element, in my environment. I'm
where the air conditioning is and uh, wherever that exists.
That's I'm where I need to be.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
You're in your element. They must have some plain cheeseburgers
over there, and what does your element? They got some
macaronium cheese and the lobby, what's going on?
Speaker 4 (03:57):
I don't really like macaroni and cheese. If you always
throw these foods out, be mac that you think that
like are stereotypical things that I would like, and they're
never the right ones.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
He got caught up downstairs in the lobby. They were
giving out pop tarts.
Speaker 4 (04:11):
Oh, I do like pop.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Charts, strawberry or cherry cherry.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
My man, that's the worst one.
Speaker 4 (04:21):
That's what everyone says, I just think you guys are ridiculous.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Cherry is the one that gets to the people goingirl.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Cherry does not get the people going.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
It gets half of this show going. Right now, I'll
tell you that.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
That's why there's cherry everything. There's literally cherry anything they got,
there's cherry.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Hey, I want to I want to show you something
that I want to about which side you're taking right here?
Speaker 3 (04:45):
The man that knows is going to let us know
right now.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Watch this, Hey, TJ. Favorite pizza toppings?
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Why are you going to do this to me?
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Go ahead?
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Do you know my favorite pizza hoppings are?
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Sure?
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Do No, but I can't wait.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
The internet's killing me. It's green olives and pineapple.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
Brother, listen, sure that's what you want to do, Matt, Sure,
that's who you want to go with.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
You throw some bacon on that thing and you got
a winner. Come dude, cherry pop tart gang.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
And the only two toppings are green olives and pineapples.
Speaker 4 (05:28):
No, what are you talking about? That's sacrilegious.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Olives and and that's a that's a that's who taught
you that?
Speaker 4 (05:46):
My my fresh off the boat Italian grandfather.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Well god, bless America. We stopped putting them green olives
on that ship long time ago.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
Brother, I was gonna say, he didn't meet my great grandfather,
Papa John.
Speaker 4 (06:03):
I do like Papa John's.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
It's not bad as long as it's the best.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
It's the best national delivery chain. Can we agree on that?
Speaker 1 (06:11):
I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
No.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
I don't think we can agree on that.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
You're not going Dominoes, right, No, okay, I think it's.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
A pizza hut dude.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
Brandon is absolutely a pizza Hut believer.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
I mean, stuff crust is good. I'm down with that.
Have we had our sponsors and we talked about salt
electro lights yet?
Speaker 1 (06:35):
No, but I need some salt electro lights while I'm
in Las Vegas.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
I will say that I've been getting on that lemon line, brother,
and even that listen, I've given them all a run.
And even that mango, if you throw that on some
eyes mm hmm, throw, get yourself a mason jar, drop
a couple of cubes of ice off in that salt
electro light, and let the Lord's work prevail as you
rehydrate yourself with some salt electro lights.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
I guarantee you I assume that Matt Alkin.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
I know, the top user of the salt electrolytes. I
met them. As a matter of fact, they live in
my house. My wife uses the salt packets more than
anyone I've ever seen, and she distributes them to her
little alcohol drinking buddies that wake up with hangover and
need some electrolytes in their life. No more pedia light
(07:25):
in my house, nothing but salt.
Speaker 4 (07:30):
See, that's what I was gonna say. I picture Matt
Elkins with a mason jar in a substance that is
a liquid but is almost air vapor alcohol because it's
probably moonshine, and he's just trying to pour in the
electrolytes to cure the hangover while he gets it.
Speaker 3 (07:45):
I've been to a bonfire too, teach.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
You knows where the drugs at.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
I know, I know where they're I know where they're
distributing that stuff. But I mean, honestly, for me, I
like jiu jitsu and.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Pizza much preferred, much preferred.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
We we didn't really have much of a show prow.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
We don't want to figure. We'll just just go We'll
just start talking, and uh, there's plenty to talk about.
I mean, namely the reason that a couple of reasons
that we're all here in Vegas. Matt Elkins, You're not
in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Mmm, can't sell with us?
Speaker 1 (08:26):
Sucks for you, dude.
Speaker 3 (08:28):
They got me to get this cool light in the
back and they're like, you still can't go to Vegas though.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
So Keilan and I are. We flew out a couple
of days early on some PGF business, so we've been
out here getting stuff ready for season eight, and we
had a couple of interviews. Yesterday, we did uh, we
released the names of the coaches on Alex's show. We
we revealed one of the rosters roster members on Alex's show,
(08:58):
Alex Winling Show. And then today TJ and I went
over to the UFC Fight Pass Invitational way in that's
going down tomorrow night and Adele Fernerino and Fionn Davis
are the main event, which, h.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
Let me tell you real quick, b Mac, I'm sorry,
there's a delay here, so h we're stepping on each other.
But it's called the UFC Fight Pass Invitational. This is
the first time in a long time that I've rolled
into the Apex without you by my side, because normally
we're you know, staying at the same place, arriving at
the same time. I felt not invited When I tried
to walk in there with They're like, who are you?
(09:41):
I'm like, oh, I'm one of the commentators now.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
That that fell was delivering pizza Hut pizzas well.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Uh, I'm teaching you, dude, because Michael Plaster walked in
with me. Yeah, and he got the red carpet rolled
out for him. Don mm hmm. Red carpet, A literal,
a literal red carpet. They brought and rolled it out
in front of Michael Blaster just because he came with me.
You believe that it's wow.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
No, they made it out of the old shirt that
you can't wear no more, that same one in red.
That one looks like a medium. Now though, brother, you're
looking handsome.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Why do I feel like I lost all this weight
and now I'm somehow fat shamed more now than I
was before.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Sir, because now you're cute now it can make fun
of your cute ass. You know what I'm saying. Now
you're handsome. Your wife's word. When you leave the house,
she's like, damn.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Why am I blushing?
Speaker 1 (10:45):
I don't you understand have.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
That effect on humans from time to time.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Serge your feelings, DJ, you know, while you're blushing.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Mm hmm, I'm gonna. I'm gonna take it. I'm gonna.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Let's talk main event for tomorrow. Adele for Narino ADCC
reigning champion versus fion Davies. She's obviously she's ADCC and
IBJJF champion, but she's also she skipped out on ADCC
this last time to go fight Mackenzie durn at CJI.
(11:21):
So you got sort of the CJI poster child for
the Ladies divisions with Felon, and then you got the
ad c C poster child for the ladies with Adele.
Who do we think's got it? I thought I'll start
by saying that I was surprised to see how big
(11:43):
Adele is. I always feel like Filon's a little bit
bigger than she has for some reason. But both of
them waited in at one twenty four and on it
that Fionn looked cut, did she looked re up? Didn't
she she small?
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (11:57):
Yeah, but I mean you and Matta Royal talked about
that on the Fight Pass previews show. But the their
their size being similar, I mean, they both weighed the same,
but like there's a difference in their their build. I think,
how do you.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
Think the fight the match actually plays out.
Speaker 4 (12:19):
I'm calling it, so I'm not making a pick, but
I have a good side step. It's a ques it's
a question. I mean, like you said it in the
previous show that you thought this was the best fight
you could make in women's grappling. Right now, what is
that stake here for both of these ladies, Like, is
(12:39):
this going to be a pivotal moment where the winner
of this sort of carries women's to the future, or
is this a one off sort of exciting fight where
we're going to talk about it for a couple of
days and then we're going to move on to whatever's next.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Well, I think right now, all all the high level
ladies matches are pivotal black They're gonna be remembered in
the sport right when they happen on a big stage,
because there's not that many of them happening, you know
what I mean, and so there's not a lot of
opportunity for pivotal moments. So kind of everything that happens
with ladies jiu jitsu on a high on a big stage,
(13:19):
sort of moves it forward. You know, I don't know
if pivotal is the right word, but it's definitely a
move forward for the ladies divisions for sure.
Speaker 4 (13:28):
Does this create a poster star the you know FBI
get behind and like you talked a lot about women's
on this program in the past, do you feel like
one of these ladies Probably not to the same level,
but could one of these ladies try to build a
swell of momentum to where they're looked upon as the
(13:53):
female Gordon Ryan, the face of the sport and one
that can build the sport and get you know, a
brighter future opportunities with people focusing on women's grappling.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Well, I'll tell you this. I think that Fionn has
been a good mouthpiece for ladies jiu jitsu, and she's
actively like trying to lead the charge in that way.
Adele is doing the same thing. But man, when I
was watching Adele today, just watching her do her media,
watching her stop and take pictures and shake hands and
(14:25):
talk to people, I was like, man, she's really stepping
into the role of champion really really well. Like she
handles herself well on camera. She speaks well in interviews.
She understands like her mission when they turn the camera
on her like she's to the point, she gets stuff said,
gets it done. I think Adele has like superstar potential
(14:48):
for the Ladies divisions, probably more than she just looks.
She looks ready for prime time from a media perspective,
more than more than the rest of the division does.
I think so. Yeah, I think Adele actually could be
a star.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
I think that I'm not quite as I'm not quite
as familiar with Adele, but I do think that Fion
Davis kind of is one of the faces of women's
jiu jitsu, and so I think that'll win here for
Adele obviously, could put her in that situation. I think
that if Fion continues to win like she has been,
I think that she's going to clearly be one of
the front runners for the for the Gordon of women's
jiu jitsu. If you will.
Speaker 2 (15:31):
Keeling, Yeah, I'm just a huge Fione fan. She's like
everything you would want from a female combat athlete. She's
super cute and she will rip your face off, and
I'm a big fan. I will got to spend a
little time with her at the last Cji and she
(15:52):
was just so sweet and fun and old, just having
a great time. And then she went out there and
just mold a fantastic grappler. And Yeah, I have a
feeling that it's going to be another one of those
tonight or tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (16:11):
I think.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
She's she's the champ in my mind.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Yeah, I mean, I think this is a hard match
for Adele to win. If you're asking me to place
down my money, place down my bets, I have to
put him on beon. But I mean Adele is the
best possible challenger that we can bring forth, that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Agreed.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Oh, we've got a fun We've got a fun game.
B Mac what.
Speaker 2 (16:39):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (16:39):
We normally do this an event day in house, but
I have the current betting lines and I like to
play the price is right, where you sort of project
where they are and see how close you are. Sometimes,
I mean most of most of the time you're pretty
spot on. But there was a matchup I think a
couple fpis ago where you were like that guy should
be a five to one favorite and was actually an underdog.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
And was I right or wrong?
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Well, Hanata can beat PJ Bark, so you were right.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
I was right. I'm always right, So let's do this.
Then let's you've got the odds. Let's go around the
room here and we'll each take turns picking odds, and uh,
the winner gets. What does the winner get?
Speaker 4 (17:28):
TJ a hug from a cute boy like me, as
described by Matt Elkins.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
And thank you for joining the Rounds podcast, was absolutely
the end of my broadcast career. It was on camera again.
Speaker 4 (17:48):
I gotta get I gotta get it out of my system. Well, well,
we'll act normal tomorrow, all right?
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Ready, what's confusing to me though? Why was that in
your system?
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Because I've been up for about thirty six hours. I
drove halfway to Vegas last night, realized I forgot my suit,
had to turn back around and drive back to Orange County.
Didn't get here until three o'clock in the morning. Was
afraid I wasn't gonna wake up in time, so I
didn't go to sleep. So this is what you get,
just a very tired, red skinned bubble head.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Can you do that tom where you said that I'm
a cute boy? Where can you do that part one
more time? No, Keelan, do you think that there was
shoulders that for me? Yeah, get it to me so
I can play it on a loop.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yeah, him doing the go got shoulders?
Speaker 4 (18:37):
Yeah, what is gog got shoulders?
Speaker 1 (18:40):
I think you know what that is.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
You don't clearly know what it is. Brother for the
bedding lines, Okay, I would say that Fion's got. I
would say that she's a three to one favorite. I'm
unfamiliar with Adele's resume, Like I understand that she's an
a d CC champ and all those things, but we're
(19:02):
talking about the reality of her winning this match.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Well, we're we're not gonna start with the main event.
That's the last one. So we're gonna start with, uh,
the main Yeah, I'm just I'm gonna do the top
top four. Okay, We've got Mason Fowler fp I absolute
tournament winner. He returns to the five Passivitational. He takes
on newcomer, uh, Cristiano tro Easy who wants to kick
(19:29):
it off.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
Mason is the favorite, and I will say six fifty.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
You see this, this is that's Mason Fowler dunking.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Yeah, Mason the favorite, six fifty. You got to give
your number. What do you think You're just call your favorite?
And the number one.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
Thousand, Easy I'll go I'll go Fowler. I'll go Fowler
eight hundred.
Speaker 4 (19:57):
You all underbid Mason Fowler minus tooth thousand, see, I'm
telling you.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
But I mean, okay, I'm with that all right.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Next, Achilles Roach is back on the FPI stage. He's
two and zero in the promotion. He takes on the
FPI newcomer, but they very well established.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
William Tackett tack it five twenty.
Speaker 3 (20:21):
Five, tack it seven fifty.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
M In my heart, that's what mine is. I'm gonna go.
I'm gonna go lower, though I'm gonna say the people
think it's a little bit closer. I'm gonna just say
four hundred attack it.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
Keelan is the winner. Tackett is a favorite at minus
four twenty five. The rest of you overbid.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
Wait a second, matt Elkins, are you keeping score over there?
Speaker 4 (20:54):
Brother?
Speaker 3 (20:54):
I'm writing, I'm stating it. You know what I'm saying.
I got a little I got a little pad fat
sharpie right here.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
My heart attack. It's definitely got that one.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, he's gonna he's gonna take that one.
I'm surprising the differential between Fouler versus Troesi and Tacket
versus Roacher, honestly, but I get it on some level.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
All right. Time for the comin event featherweight about between
uh the undefeated FPI veteran. She's four and oh with
four re Nikka chokes Roquel Canudo takes on uh Anna
Carolina Vieta. Uh B Mack, you can start the bid
if you want.
Speaker 1 (21:38):
I'll take Vieida. She's a three twenty favorite.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
I'm I'm not as familiar with Vieta. I did meet
Canudo's wife at the PGF, and I'm not vet I'm
not betting against that woman, just in case she sees it.
She's gonna one minute rear naked show. She's gonna score
the elbow. GENI point at the FPI brothers, nothing but
(22:08):
good things to say.
Speaker 2 (22:09):
I think in your traditional rule set, Viea might might
get the dub. But I think in this three rounds
fight pass home territory, I don't know. I think it'll
be closer and more interesting. I'm gonna go two fifty
for Vieira.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
What did you say, b Mac, I'll go one fifty Vieta.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
Oh okay. Matt Alkins wins minus one eighty for Anna
Carolina Vieta.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
Yeah, that feels like a close one, especially with this
rule set in the hometown, the home territory that I
think that plays more of a role than people think,
especially when you start having rounds, because each round is
like a chance for you to gain more energy and
momentum from your fans or on the other side, lose
it and start mentally losing through the fight.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
So does that mean that we have to run one
more of the odds as a TOI breaker because I
believe that everyone won.
Speaker 4 (23:11):
The main event the event, but uh, real quick on
the canudo front, the three five minute rounds are going
to be interesting. Roquel has an interesting and sort of
mixed mm A career. Uh didn't necessarily have the results
that she she wanted to, but she was like a
really scrappy type of fighter, and she would kind of
(23:33):
fall in love with just the fight and not uh,
you know, employ the most technical game plan. I called
a few of her fights and Invicta and I remember
the last last fight or second to last fight I called.
She thought Panny Key and Zod and everyone thought I
was gonna be fighting the night And I asked Roquel
in the pre fight interview, everyone thinks this is gonna
(23:54):
be a crazy fight. What's it like going into a
fight where you know you're probably getting a fight of
the night check And she said, I'm absolutely not trying
to get fight of the night. I'm gonna go in there.
I'm gonna take her down and I'm gonna submit her,
and I'm gonna showcase my jiu jitsu skills that people
don't know I have. And she took her down in
an arm barter and like a minute. But that said,
(24:15):
she at times gets a little bit lost in the
rounds and sometimes a ram slips away from her. I
don't know if that can be necessarily the case in
jiu jitsu, but it'll be interesting to see if she
kind of calls upon, you know, the MMA type of approach,
at least when it comes to aggression with three fives.
Speaker 2 (24:38):
And for the main.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Event, Adele forn Reno takes on Fo Davies. When was
their last match? Was it twenty twenty two? Yeah? I
think so, okay, so it's been a yeah, it's been
been a little while. D MAC. You're gonna go last,
Keel and you can start.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
The odds. Let's see, I'm gonna go Fion four hundred
mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
I was gonna say Filon five fifty, Oh.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
I like this, I like this action Filon two eighty.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
You've all overbid. You want to readjust.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
Dang closer than that, yep, closer than to eighty mm hmm.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
Then I guess I gotta say minus one hundred, just
as because it's a wash.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Then in my mind, what doesn't that mean that I won?
Speaker 4 (25:33):
No place is right? You overbid, you overbid, so you
gotta gotta do it all over again.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
I mean technically I won. I was writer, I was
more you were you.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Were you were a writer? Yeah, okay, you you were.
You were a lot more writer than everyone else. Uh,
minus one seventy five for Fon Davis.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
I'm the winner. Write that down on your stat sheet.
Matt Elkins, you get a cherry pop tart, I'll give
it to you.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Joe Bless. Now I'm really upset.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
I did have some strawberry pop tarts the other day,
but they were they were from Sprouts grocery.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
They sell pop tarts at Sprouts.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Not real pop tarts, organic pop tarts, so not gonna
be able to get real they were. They were so
good I can share them with.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Before we delve into utter chaos, well sprouts, There's another
female combat match that I'm actually super excited about this weekend,
the main event of the UFC card. Yes, Macy Barber
versus Aaron Blanchfield. Right, Yes, I'm a big Macy Barber fan.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
I like both of them, but me too, me too.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
I don't know if I could say her over Macy
because I'm a big Macy fan, but I am a
fan of both of them, and I'm excited for the fight.
How do you'all think it goes?
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Blanchfield's gonna sub her in the second round, maybe the first?
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Yes, yeah, I I I tend to have a little
bit of allegiance towards athletes that I've called fights of
and I called Aaron and uh and Victa and in
the eed I that she won, and uh, it's gonna
be curious for me to see how she responds moving forward. Besse.
I mean when she thought, uh mannon Farro like she
(27:36):
was just outsized, and uh, you know, Macy can be
a bit of a bully, but I think that Aaron's
gonna be too much for She's gonna catch a sub.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Aaron's so good at jiu jitsu. Her grap is so
high level. Man.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
All right, well I'm going on the other side. I'm
going Macy tko. As a matter of fact, Ko, Yeah,
she's gonna punch that grappler in her face.
Speaker 1 (28:01):
That's so stupid. That was a stupid thing to say.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
I got barbered by decision. Barbered by decision, ladies and gentlemen.
There's the truth about it.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
What I The only thing that makes me not comfortable
with the decision from Macy here is the five round situation.
I don't know how she looks in a five round fight, right,
I mean we've only have we seen he's an explosive athlete.
Speaker 4 (28:30):
So yeah, yeah, I think five rounds favors Aaron as well.
And also, let's not let's not sleep on Aaron's striking.
It's it's maybe not the prettiest of times, but I mean,
she's not people out. She has the ability to.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
He's not striking with Macy, she better not.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
Well hold on, are we fixing to say that Macy's
some elite striker.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
I'm saying. I'm saying Macy can eat shots and deliver
shots that can't be eaten by those little girls. That's
how I feel.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Huh.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
I definitely think that Barbara has the advantage on the
feet on the ground. M hmm. I think that Blanchefield
obviously can get the job done. She could submit her
all right, But what I think is going down. I'm
gonna call it right now that it's a decision.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Dude, it's a good thing. Y'all have me on this show.
Blanchfield by submission, possibly by the end of the first round.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Wow, that's a statement, all right, since a man that knows.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
Tell me this is John Jones ducking Tom Aspinall.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
M m uh do we even have to debate that?
I mean, how long has this fight been needing to
be made?
Speaker 1 (29:53):
The answer is yes, he's not ducking Aspinall. He's ducking fighting.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
That's probably more true.
Speaker 1 (30:01):
It doesn't matter that it's Aspenall. He doesn't want to
fight anymore unless it's for a giant amount of money
on the total terms that he wants, which is fine,
by the way, But he's he's not ducking Aspenall. He's
ducking I don't want to fight for those on those terms.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
I don't want to fight. But if if it was
another sort of steep a type opponent where Jones would
be this massive favorite. Do you think he would be
more inclined to take that or or is it simply
just because it's a contentious fight. He doesn't need the
money and I don't want.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
I don't think he wants to do all the things
that he knows better than anybody on the planet are required.
Speaker 2 (30:42):
Then move on. He's the heavyweight champion.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
I think you should move on.
Speaker 4 (30:48):
But technically is he is it up to him? It's
up to the UFC to strip him. Like it's not
really John saying anything. You just not signing a contract.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Well, John Jones is trying to eat a couple of
cherry pop tarts? Is what's going on? Brother?
Speaker 1 (31:03):
I don't know what that means.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
It's heavyweight season, baby, it's big Papa is looking to
go hang out by the pool and have a couple
of pop tarts when he wants to. If you've ever
gone and run, he'll sprints for eight weeks leading up
into a fight camp. It's pretty easy to talk you
out of doing that. Ship when you've got millions of dollars,
you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
Yeah, he's just chilling in Thailand having a good time.
Speaker 3 (31:29):
Right now, go run, He'll sprints in the sand and
the desert. Get the hell out of here.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
Brother scared to fight nobody. He just don't want to fight.
He don't want to do all the stuff you gotta
do to fight. He probably would fight today, He probably
he probably would love to fight. He don't want to
get ready to fight. And I don't blame him, me neither.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
All Right.
Speaker 2 (31:50):
In other news, I got, I got more news that
I'm just gonna keep popping up because I want y'all's
opinions on some stuff. All right, BJ Penn got arrested.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
I mean, yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
You don't know about this. No, I don't even know
where to begin here. Dude like BJ has been very
vocal on the Internet about a variety of things that
he feels are going on.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
I've seen some of his rantings about how basically he's
looks like he has like schizophrenia, looks like he's like, yeah,
with schizophrenia.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
For or, the government's replacing his family.
Speaker 4 (32:36):
So he believes that his mother and brother have been
replaced by impostors and are wearing masks.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
There's no shortage of people on the planet that think
that the government has replaced their mother and brother. They're
just own drugs. And that's the thing that people are
missing here is they think that BJ Penn is not
on drugs and that maybe he's just been in the
head too many times. I think both are true. It's
very sad to watch, but like you can just I
(33:06):
can walk, I can go down to Birmingham, Alabama and
find ten dudes right now that think that their family's
been replaced and that birds aren't real and that they
could take on a gorilla keeln.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
Can I just say this about the whole BJ Penn
thing because this is what bothers me. You know, On
a personal level, BJ was an interesting fellow to deal with.
I've interviewed BJ. He didn't really like the website I
worked for. He was kind of a difficult personality at times.
But I think that Bjpenn's the greatest lightweight that we've
(33:41):
ever seen in mixed martial arts. I think BJ Penn
in his prime beats could be Nermaga Medov nine out
of ten times. I think he's that talented in that skilled. Now,
I absolutely dislike seeing what is going on with him,
and I hate even more what fans are saying or
not even fans, just people like that are trolling him,
(34:04):
that are saying he as CTE, Like there's obvious issues
in BJ's mental well being. But I don't care. If
it's J Penn, I don't care if it's Nick Diaz,
I don't care if it's any fighter that you've ever
cheered for or cheered against as a fan. You're a
disgusting human being if you throw accusations or blame CTE
(34:26):
on anything when a fighter is clearly struggling with something.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Okay, TJ, I'm gonna help you out with something. You're right.
That's disgusting behavior, and that's what sports is, that's what
fans do. We will poison the trees that are outside
your school. We will call you a piece of trash.
We will show up at your hotel the night before
(34:52):
a big game and set off the fire.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Off you said the keyword there. They'll be back. It's
not a it's not a game. Fighting is not a game. Yes,
it's one thing to not like the Packers because you
like the Vikings. It's another thing to basically just try
to go after someone and make them feel terrible for
sacrificing the betterment of their health for our entertainment.
Speaker 1 (35:17):
Is a game.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
As a professional former professional MMA fighter, I'm gonna tell
you that I completely agree with you. But they have
those quotes about the man in the arena because to
the average person that's watching it, it is just a
game to them. They don't understand John Jones doesn't want
to run hill sprints. They think that he's scared of.
To Tom Aspinall, it's like, look, man, it's it isn't
(35:39):
a game to you. It's your life. And that's like
the crazy thing about guys not getting paid for it.
The amount of dedication that it takes to make that
your lifestyle is incredible. But to the average person that
works at All State Insurance that's catching the fights on
a Friday at Buffalo you know, Saturday at Buffalo Wild Wings,
they don't get football. It's the same as any other
sport that's on TV. It's on ESPN now, it's and
(36:02):
so it's a sad truth. But people that don't understand
the hurt business like that, or they just don't you know.
And there's a lot of people out there that don't
get it. But the fans don't give a shit.
Speaker 1 (36:11):
It's no different than football. Man, you're telling me that
guys that are playing professional football aren't going out there
and sacrificing their well being.
Speaker 4 (36:21):
And they're sure for sure, but like they.
Speaker 1 (36:23):
Are, it's a game. It's not a fight to the death. There.
Most of the UFC guys are dapping each other up
and getting a hug in and raising each other's hands.
It's a game.
Speaker 4 (36:35):
But he's not an active competitor. You're not cheering for
something over another thing is like for fun. You're just
being the lowest common denominator of person and making light
of someone's like real physical and mental health issues.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
You're again, you're totally right. It shouldn't be happening. But
welcome to sports. It does.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Internet trolls. Brother, It's over.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Another one that's happening that I feel like no one's
talking about, and I think I know why, but I'll
hear y'all's thoughts about it. The IBJJF World Championships are
going down. They start tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
Really, crickets crickets crickets.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Well, I think you just broke that news here on
the show.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Yeah, Hey, do you want to update the people that
may be watching this that weren't watching Alex's show? With
who the coaches and the roster athlete.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Was for PGF. Yeah. PGF Season eight draft goes down
June twenty fifth. Here's the coaches. Season six veteran former
IBJJF champion just won his first MMA fight, Henato Kenuto,
season six champion at one hundred and seventy five pounds.
(37:51):
Coming back to coach Andy Varella, legend, this guy has
coached at some point. He has coached everybody that you
think is good at jiu jitsu. Runs Gracie who I
Hada here in Las Vegas, Mika Sippilli, and then number
(38:13):
four IBJJF World Champion, ad c C Absolute Champion, Robert Drysdale. Wow,
those are our four coaches. And then we also we
know of course the guys that won the qualifiers or
was Landon Elmore won one of the qualifiers, so we
(38:33):
know he's on the roster. Hafe al Fajeda, he won
the Las Vegas qualifier, so you know he's in. And
then Aunt Malina won the Decatur qualifier, so you know
he's in. And then yesterday we talked about we talked
to Chris Olivo on the podcast with Alex and announced
that he's in, and we should probably we'll probably have
(38:55):
the roster dropped in the next twenty four hours. Before roster,
let's drop one more on the Rounds podcast, Make it Happen.
Go Oh, I don't know who? Oh no, you can
want to called it. You got to pull the trigger.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
Come on, boss, any of them.
Speaker 4 (39:10):
I'm nervous for you right now.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
Well, we know Christos Papa Dellos is in because we
already talked about that last season. I told him he
could have a spot and I'm hold him true to that,
so he's in. So they got Molina, Christos, Chris half
a l and who is my other qualifier winner? I
(39:36):
just said land. So we got those five that people know.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
I'm just going to give the people what they want.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Man the favorite, Oh, slow it down?
Speaker 2 (39:49):
Who I think maybe your potential season eight champion. The
PG have veteran, he's got one less tooth than all
of us. It's your boy, Jet Thompson.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
That makes me happy. Hey Di guds, Can I just
say that someone needs to get me a shirt where
it's the cover of Mad magazine, but instead of that
guy on the cover, it's Jet Thompson's face.
Speaker 1 (40:24):
Yeah, he was gonna make you one of those today.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
Actually I would wear that.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Okay. He was gonna make you a poster to put
on your Instagram as soon as this podcast is over.
Trust me.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
Jet Thompson being in that bracket is that's heavy, brother,
that's heavy business for those other one fifty five ers.
If he can get down to one fifty five successfully.
He's a growing boy. He's only about eighteen now, I'm guessing,
but I've heard that he was looking swollen after the
last season the PGF.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
We saw him at overdose jiu Jitsu overdose in Mexico
and he was for sure one hundred and eighty three
pounds for sure. And he's coming down to one fifty five.
Chris Olivo, same thing though. Man, he's that size too,
and he's coming down to one fifty five.
Speaker 3 (41:12):
Those boys are gonna be powerful, yeah, and.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
They by the end of the season, they're gonna be thick.
Speaker 3 (41:19):
Yeah. They've got the one way in at the beginning
of the season and then yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
Yeah only weigh in. Weigh in is July twenty second,
and the first game day is July twenty third, and
you never have to weigh in again, even except in
the playoffs. You're good. You made the season.
Speaker 3 (41:33):
Job bless, that's a that's a that's a scary name.
If you're sitting if you're sitting behind the scenes right now,
and you know that you're in season eight oft the PGF,
and you just heard that that that little snaggletooth feller
with the red hair is gonna show up and try
to wrestle you for your money. You just got a
little bit nervous here.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
In Jet Thompson's name, I think so. Not only is
he a veteran from season six, he came into season
six nobody knew his name, and by the way, including me.
When he was introduced to me, Matt scaff was like, Hey,
have you seen this kid, Jet Thompson? I said nope.
He's like, you need to take a look at this kid.
Speaker 3 (42:13):
Never heard of her.
Speaker 1 (42:14):
Look at him. I've talked to his dad. We'll work
it out. Jet jumps in season six, not just as
a veteran. He goes to the final and makes it
to overtime against Verrella and was seconds away from winning
the whole thing. And I'm gonna tell you com back,
that's the way the first Rocky movie.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
That kid had every one of those professional grapplers seasoned
veterans in the game months over included absolutely shook having
to risk their legacy against this up and coming seventeen
year old kid. And that's that's the scary part is
he about did it as a seventeen year old kid.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
Bro, that's some give some behind them. So you were
there for season six, you were an athlete, give us
some behind us saying you got to name no names,
but talk about the fear that Jet Thompson was striking
into some of these guys.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
For us, well, everyone was just like, oh, I'm not
that kid. Puts his hand on him around.
Speaker 1 (43:18):
When Putt put Matt up big while he while he
gives us this story here.
Speaker 3 (43:24):
When when Jet, When Jet Thompson was in season six,
about halfway you know, day two, day three, everyone started
to realize some of the guys still had to grapple
against him, and everyone was writing him off and writing
them off. And then he just starts taking guy after
god to let you know, guys front runners, just starts
(43:44):
dropping them, getting them out of there. And you see
some of the higher level guys maybe they're on the
on the bubble or just grappling for their legacy or whatever.
And then they wind up and you just see him
before this match, and these guys are shaking in the
bag man and let's and I was too dumb to
know to be shaken. I didn't know who this kid
was and had no idea. I just walked in there like,
(44:06):
I guess I'm gonna smick his damn seventeen year old around.
Yeah right, brother, yeah right. And so a couple of
people saw it and they saw like me get picked off,
and they're like, well, man's well, that's just he just
did that to Matt And it's like, brother, I'm gonna
tell you right now, I've been wrestling for a while.
You better you better eat you weedies before you go
grapple that young man. And just seeing that, even the champ,
(44:28):
just seeing some of those guys deal with the reality
before they walked out, They're like, damn, this seventeen year
old kid could could try to take it off from
me right now, that that was a real that was
a real problem. I think that the season eight guys
are gonna have a different problem. He's gonna be the
biggest dude. He's young, he's gonna he's gonna recover obviously
super well. Day in and day out, much less week
(44:49):
to week. Jet Thompson is gonna be a serious front
runner for season eight.
Speaker 2 (44:54):
You gotta think that he's a shoe in to the
playoffs if he stayed healthy through the season, right, and
if he makes it to the playoffs, then we're talking
single elimination, two minute matches with that PGF overtime. And
I mean, if I'm thinking about beating Jet Thompson, and like,
(45:18):
I'm an athlete in the season and I don't care
if he's right number one, I'm gonna be the champion.
I've got to start looking at that playoffs and finding
out how to beat Jet in the playoffs, you know,
because that's what it's gonna come down to.
Speaker 1 (45:33):
Jet's gonna be the number one pick. That's my prediction.
Speaker 4 (45:36):
Can I make a prediction right now? Yeah, we're gonna
see him the next season of Grapplers. A flashback to
Andy Barrella slapping this man in the face, to Andy
Varrella slapping his hand as he drafts him for his team.
Speaker 1 (45:49):
Oh okay, I mean, who knows better than Andy Barrella?
Speaker 3 (45:56):
Hey, we all know that we're there in season six. Brother,
anybody that is on that roster knew what it was
like to stand behind that curtain and know that they
were about to call your name next to Jeff Thompson's.
That was a scary situation. Glad, that's over good look.
Speaker 4 (46:07):
So so so when Andy slapped him in the face,
was that for all of you?
Speaker 1 (46:12):
Not for me?
Speaker 3 (46:14):
Honestly? I felt like Andy kept that gangster for himself. Brother.
I don't think that he.
Speaker 4 (46:19):
But I mean, was it satisfying for more than maybe
just one person?
Speaker 3 (46:23):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
And know what's funny is everybody was really upset, Like
in the comments, and there was a huge Reddit through
I had like a thousand comments on it.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
I don't think Jeff was.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
Upset with Andy for smacking, because what happened. Somebody clipped
just that one thing of Andy cracking that was the
whole clip.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
I mean, we see that though. I mean, granted this
wasn't grant granted this wasn't combat jiu jitsu, be mac,
but every time we see a good highlight in combat
jiu jitsu, it's the same sort of thing. Out of context.
A slap in jiu jitsu always seems like a foul,
even when it's actually legal. Obviously, in the Verrella Thompson case.
It wasn't. But uh, people just aren't used to palm strikes.
Speaker 1 (47:10):
People didn't have the full context of what was doing
all week long, and that that wasn't the first person
that cracked him. PJ Bart cracked him too, But nobody
was upset at PJ. He didn't get all the Reddit
threads written about it.
Speaker 4 (47:22):
Just andy, you get what you give.
Speaker 2 (47:26):
Yeah, and they let him play a little more in
the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (47:29):
You know, man, it's playoff basketball, dude. You got to
let the boys bang a little bit.
Speaker 3 (47:34):
Yes, sir, it's.
Speaker 4 (47:35):
Being in playoff basketball. I think my Timberwolves are going
to get eliminated.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Man, I have to tell you something. As soon as
the Bulls were out of the picture, I've canceled NBA
League pass. I was like, well, I don't care about
the other teams.
Speaker 4 (47:49):
Just that when was that October? It was.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
Hey, man, when in October? Come on, dog, sorry, we
were in the race.
Speaker 4 (48:01):
We what position do you play?
Speaker 1 (48:04):
I'll tell you what position I play. T J talk to.
Speaker 4 (48:09):
Too close to my position. Let me tell you that
I should just shut.
Speaker 1 (48:12):
Up, mount position, draw back through your teeth.
Speaker 4 (48:16):
I gotta go. Thank you.
Speaker 3 (48:19):
T J did great
