(00:00):
Okay, welcome, Welcome, Welcome. It is Monday, May thirteenth,
twenty twenty four. I can't believeit. We get through the year.
This is the SRS Show with JamesLott Junior. I am James Lott Junior,
the super organizer. Say that fivetimes fast. All that here on
jailj Media doing the show nearly nineyears. Next month will be nine year
(00:21):
anniversary of me doing this show ExusCrackers, and in that time I need
to have return guests. It's kindof I don't I've been here so long
enough. I get to repeat andtalk about something totally different. I love
if you watch the last show. She has a whole story, major moments,
the organizing business and national attention. The whole thing. This talked about
(00:42):
something a little more closer and morecentered. She has a book out called
Faithful Organizing Devotions for a Christ CenteredBusiness. We're gonna talk about exactly what
that means in shorthand of why youshould get the book. That's right,
my friend Angela Coni Roug, Iwant to say, I Wansta said,
weroll get up her Hello major mom, that's okay, and I would have
(01:03):
said okay, Jane Dave, shehas personality. Folks, my love,
thanks for being on the show again. Welcome back, welcome. This is
gonna be fun. We have agood time. Okay. So I do
it thanks and gratitude. I doit every single episode. I've been doing
this at the very beginning, somethingI believe in very strongly. Of course,
my thanks and gratude. Because it'sMay thirteenth, it is to all
(01:26):
the mothers. Yesterday was Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day to you. We
lave to say to you, Angela. Also mother's bonus, moms, step
moms, half mom's, full moms, grandmas who were moms, anybody who
say aunties or moms, anybody godmother's, anybody who's taking care of sort of
in the mom type role. Ilive in gratitude. I have several mothers.
(01:49):
Last year almost lost my mother, but she came back to us.
So I know how important that isas I get older. Because also it
was my birthday three days ago andI turned fifty five years old. I
don't know where the time went, but it's I think I'm holding up halfway
decent. As my aunt calls it, double Nichols, I turned double Nichols.
You know what that means the fives, I guess, but I am.
(02:12):
I'm very appreciated of that too, because some members of my family didn't
make it to this age. SoI do understand that people don't make it.
So I'm still here. Kids,I have no plans of going anywhere,
but shout out to the moms,to myself because I shared birthdays with
mothers and Mother's Day, it's allintertwined in my life. I was born
in Mother's Day of the year Iwas born, so it's a very interesting
(02:35):
time for me. But I learnedto be very introspective during this time period
and kind of look at all that. I love my mommy, I missed
my grandmother's I don't have any left. I lost with my last grandmother early
this year. And I like mylife I've made. I've been through a
lot of stuff. Kids, Iam still here. I'm still doing it.
Fifteen years of organizing, seventeen yearsin the in the in the the
(02:58):
media business, and we're still Sothat's my thanks and gratitude. And anyone
who shared the happy Birthday to meor anything, I appreciate it. So
but yet, hey, Mother's Dayto you, Miss Angelo, thank you,
James and yes, that is socool that you're born on Mother's Day.
My son was born on Father's Day, so like, we get it
every you know so and so manyyears they fall on the same birthday and
(03:19):
Father's Day, so I get howcool that is. Oh, I've never
anybody going on Father's say that's sofunny. That's very cool. Actually,
yeah, yees, you know,so he knows my goal to you know
what it's like, might I turnedforty because it was a milestone year.
My mother and I are like, well, who gets it. I'm like,
I'm only forty once your mother everyyear. We started laughing about that,
but we ended up sharing. Ofcourse, it's kind of funny.
(03:39):
Like I said the morning half,we had some fun doing that. But
Father's Day, that's that's cool.Cool. Well, and the Williams the
show of course again and you havethis book came out in March, Faithful
Organizing Devotions for a christ Centered Business. And I know some folks that they're
like, does that mean what's goingon? There are folks that they don't
(04:00):
understand. There are Christian counseling, there are Christian therapists there. I've had
some of my shows. My aunthas a PhD in Christian counselor. I
mean there's all kinds of stuff that'sdo where you basically are led by the
word, as they say, anddevotions, So please explain. We'll dig
(04:21):
into it explaining the book. Okay, great, well, Faithful Organizing,
it is Devotions for a Christ CenteredBusiness. This is actually a compilation of
devotions that have been written by membersof Faithful Organizers for the last twenty five
years. We picked the best ofthe best over the last twenty five years.
(04:44):
So full disclosure, I didn't writea single one of these devotions.
I was the executive director of FaithfulOrganizers during the pandemic when we came up
with this idea and so Christ centeredbusiness. We have monthly meetings, virtual
zooms. Faithful Organizers are all aboutorganizing and treating God's people the way Jesus
(05:04):
would treat them. So when wego into people's homes, we train each
other to be non judgmental and lovingand caring, but just like Jesus,
very firm. You know this isthis is definitely something we can help you
with. It sounds like you wanthelp. Let's get to work. So
it's not it's not what some ofthe TV shows try to portray organizers as
(05:28):
which is which is always disheartening becauseninety percent of organizers, I'm sure are
not judgmental and they don't do crazystuff like they do on TV. They
certainly organizing with a Christ centered businessis also reminding us that we don't own
anything this business. Major Mom,you know, this isn't not my business.
(05:51):
I dedicated this business to Christ, you know, seventeen years ago,
and I've been part of faithful organizersmy entire professional organize career. So sometimes
it's nice to be a professional organizerand you know, you get out these
devotions and the coolest thing is isI get goosebumps even just when I turn
to a page, because it's justGod speaking to the professional organizing industry to
(06:18):
keep us centered when we're working withvery difficult situations and devotions for a Christ
center business helps us remember, Hey, this isn't about you, angela major
Mom. You know, it's it'sabout you and your fame and you being
something, and it's about God's peopleneed you, and you are to serve
(06:43):
them with love first and foremost.Gott go ahead. Love. I when
I went to my first coaching classesabout ten years ago, eleven years ago.
The first thing was they talked aboutwas coaching from center. So when
I saw this, as you justsaid that with this book, and that's
what I think every organizer, businessperson, service business, service person,
(07:05):
anybody who deals with the public.I think we all need to come from
center. Like we know, wekind of keep keep our couse says,
so we can help them effectively.Right, Yes, yes, Because in
faith organizers, we have this openingprayer that we do before we go in
to work with the client, whetherit's the first time or the seventieth time,
(07:26):
there is that we get centered beforewe go in. It's a very
long prayer. And of course mymilitary you know style, you know,
some some Christians are good at doingthese long, long prayers. I've taken
this really long, beautiful prayer andI've created a you know, kind of
a more of a military style, and I'll say, you know, opening
prayer, activate you know in mymind, and I'll just say God guard
(07:46):
my guard, my mind, myheart, my tongue. And I get
try to say that every time.I get me straight on why I'm why
I'm here to serve this client.I Am not here to make judgments,
and so that opening prayer gets youcentered. It's like, Okay, I
(08:07):
remember why I'm here. It's notabout me. And we have a closing
prayer which is very very helpful tothe person because we're praying for this person,
this individual when we leave, thatthey don't regret their decisions, that
they don't regret their time with us, you know, because that's the enemy.
They're spiritual demons, if you will, trying to tell them, oh,
(08:28):
you shouldn't have got rid of that, Oh you shouldn't have got that.
See I told you, they getrid of stuffer. Things like that
start mulling in their brain. Andwe're talking about a minimalist could feel this
way, a order could feel thisway. It doesn't matter. And so
these opening and closing prayers helps keepyou centered. Also, you know this,
James Gosh, we as organizers canfeel so so like down on ourselves
(08:50):
when it's when we think, oh, we could have done so much more,
we could have done more for thatclient. But they were satisfied after
just a few hours. For likea few hours, you haven't seen anything
yet, Like we're gonna keep goinggirl, And so then they're like,
I'm good. I feel great.And so that's a part of being Christ
(09:11):
centered is realizing that you can takepeople only as far as they want to
go, and you should never tryto take people further than they want to
go or even need to go.Yes, full dispposure, folks, some
of you guys know it's already.I'm a doctor in divinity, so I'm
make sure people know that I dohave that. So I have my own
(09:33):
I have my stuff, so Iagree with all this. One of the
things that I always talk about forme is the guy in my tongue.
That's number one in my in mylife. Period. I pray every morning,
so I have a whole than doevery morning, but period, just
period. I do it every morningbefore wake up. But I was told
by my God, you know mytongue. It runs in the family,
(09:54):
and I need a guy need. And also and what I learned about and
I'm sure this book is about thisall. So when you're talking to people,
it's about praying intentionally, being intentionaland what you want, not what
you want to have happened, butto help guide you through the process.
You as the organizer, you know, God, please, you know you
know, give me a straight tohandle whatever situation happens in front of me,
(10:18):
you know you'll give me, giveme the guidance to have maybe have
an answer or have a way toan answer. You are can be very
very intentional, but they can bevery like specific, right, and all
these kind devotions and likes right absolutely. I mean if you don't, if
you don't stop and center yourself justdaily, you know as saying, I'm
(10:41):
this isn't about me, because boy, we I think organizers in general can
make it all about them, andbecause we have all the plans in our
heads that we want to make happen, and and stop being saying, okay,
listen to the client, listen tothe way the Holy Spirit's guiding you.
I think sometimes you come out ofthere feeling like you know, most
organizers we say organizing is our superpower. But my goodness, when you get
(11:05):
the Holy Spirit in there ahead ofyou and behind you, they think your
superpower is organizing as one thing weknow it is, it's another thing that
somebody believes that it is. Andso when you let the Holy Spirit guide
you with each client, it's likesometimes I come up with ideas I would
(11:26):
never even think I would suggest,But when I hear myself saying it.
They'll say, well, you know, is this something that you normally recommend.
I'm like, nope, I don'tknow where it came from. Of
course I'm joking. I'm like, nope, I just felt that this is
This feels like a collaborative process. It feels like the right direction. What
(11:48):
do you think? And they're usuallylike, gosh, I never would have
thought of it. And I'm thinkingthe same thing to myself. I don't
know where that came from. Butif you don't have the Holy Spirit,
like saying, hey, going inthe wrong direction with this client, you
know, like you're not listening,Like I love that the Holy Spirit can
(12:09):
get me up. You know, close my lips, because boy, I
sure have lots of ideas and opinions. I know. I love that you
you said that because I think asorganizers we are we've come from a good
place. You know our intention, you know, the road to pay the
road to Hell is paid for them. But we have we have gonna,
we have an intention that we wantto help you. Right, business seventeen
(12:31):
years, I've been business fifteen years. You want to help people? You
you in your brain you're saying,I know I have the answers if they
listen to me right, yes, yes, and we do it not no
at first, not really realizing we'redoing it. So we have to kind
of stop once they stop dropping roll, but stop and go wait a minute,
(12:52):
this is this is not me.Take me out Mike again. My
teacher coaches said, you're off thehook. I love that saying you're off
the hook. You're there to workwith them. And I said, if
you add the if you add thedevotional side of things, so I called
divine intervention in part of it.Then the divine invention if you open your
(13:16):
mind and heart to you it andthen it will guide. I always say
I work with you. I'm workingwith I don't work for you. I
mean they're paying me, but I'mlike, I don't work for you,
you don't work for me. Likewe're working together to swim through and find
a solution. And so you justsaid, every organized situation is almost as
different as the person you're organizing.Yeah, oh, I mean any stuytion
(13:37):
you come up like you'd be.I'm sure you've had. I'm sure you're
your team have seen oh god,the stuff over the years that was not
the same thing. Twice, right, absolutely. And then there's themes.
There's themes that run through you know, people who hire organizers. There's there's
always a thread that's like, okay, this thread as I've seen this thread,
(13:58):
this fiber, you know, ineach home that we're in. So
there's always these common commonalities that helpyou realize, Okay, this is why
professional organizers are created by God,because God's the original creator of the universe
and everything is owned by God,and so that is really fun when you
(14:20):
can work with a Christian client. And I have a list of scriptures that
are from a book called Make YourHome a Haven, and the scriptures go
ranged from you know, Ecclesiastes. There's a season to keep, and there's
this you know, there's time tothrow away, there's time to keep.
There's that, there's seasons and peopleknowing what season they're in is where I
(14:41):
feel a professional organizer is most effective. In other words, if you experienced
a loss, a death of achild, a husband, or you know,
things like that, and you're feelinglike sometimes sometimes we're like, you
know what I've been I've been waitingto get rid of this stuff that I've
never wanted. It's like oh,your horses. This is not the time
(15:05):
or the season to make irrational getrid of things. And so a good
professional organizer will say, let's let'smaybe let's just move this to a different
area for now. Let's don't getrid of it quite yet. Let's sit
on this per a week. Andmost people say, I'm so glad we
sat on that for a week becausethere were only two things they actually wanted
out of those bins. But thosetwo things had they had not remembered until
(15:28):
after it was all given away, they would have had so much remorse.
And so we when we train ourteam of professional organizers and we're working,
when we fellowship with other faithful organizers, we always say, we don't want
you to overpurge. The reason whyit's called over purging is because you've gone
too far. Maybe you had amoment where you thought you could be a
(15:52):
minimalist, but you're not, andso comparing your home and you're life to
everyone else is not what professional organizersare here to help you do. What
are your contributors? Is my friendand she was on the show talking about
faithfully organizing a while back, isBarbara Hemphield. Her so shout out to
(16:15):
you, Barbara, if you're watchingthis. She we we had a great
conversation we did how'd you find thepeople? So they're all part of your
group and they are part of thisfew way, how'd you how did you
decide, because you're the basically editorand chief of all this, how did
you decide who was in the book? And how the process go? How
the process go? Oh? Thankgod they kicked me off the project because
(16:38):
basically I'm a visionary and so visionariesin general really are not great at dotting
the eyes and crossing the t's,and so not all organizers are good the
nitnoid little tiny details. Some are, some aren't. And then there it's
that whole spectrum in between. SoAngie and her tea and is a is
(17:03):
she's a faithful organizer member. Sheshe got a committee together, I got
the project manager at Spreadsheet together. We got it rolling and going, and
then things were getting really I wasgetting very bogged down in the details in
the you know, one person wantedall the devotions to be very standardized,
and I was like, I thinkeach devotion, like the books in the
(17:25):
Bible, should be written as writtenby the author. And so I was
against standardizing them and against the energyto make that happen. And so I
said, well that that's really goingin a direction that I don't you know,
think we do. So it wasreally wonderful because with lots of prayer,
Barbara Himpill actually came on to agroup meeting and she was like,
(17:47):
the enemy is trying to keep thisbook from being published. You know,
your inability to agree on these littlethings don't mean anything to God. But
I'm like, it doesn't mean anythingto God, but at some point decision
how to be made match go forward? Right? And so it took almost
three years to get this book done. And it's because we're all volunteers,
(18:10):
none of us. This was notour full time job. But the devotions
that were selected, the writers ofeach devotion, I can say I know
all of them except one because shewas a part of Faithful Organizers before I
was even around. But when Iread them, I I feel God's presence.
(18:30):
I feel God saying yep, thisis what I wanted you to think
about today, Angela. And sothat that you know, the whole process
was easy when it okay, well, I wrote, you know, so
my books, I have a littlework book here, I got a book
here, I got another book here, I got another book here. Okay,
all these work books, you know, and so it's like, you
(18:51):
know, you think you know everythingbecause you know you've already published four books.
But but God was trying to takethis in directions that I couldn't.
I couldn't, I couldn't grab onto. And so it was such a celebration
in our industry when you know,we have another Christian book out there for
organizers. Ninety nine percent of what'sout there is for our clients, for
(19:15):
people who want to organize. LikeEileen cough is another amazing contributor. Eileen
Coff wrote Organized God's Way. Whatan amazing book. And Eileen gets right
to the point with some of herclients, like if the client has Ouigi
boards and things that, you know, the Bible's very clear that that those
are not good energy. She's olderthan us, she's more wise, and
(19:38):
she'll just tell the client, youknow what, if you want to keep
the Luigi boards and all of theseother things, can we just remove them
from the office while we're working init. So she's very clear, as
she's a seasoned organizer, just likeJesus would have been clear, you know
what that's that enter she is nota good energy. I want that,
(20:02):
you know, removed from here, right, So organizing him feel like you're
being judgmental. But when God isleading you to say something about that item,
you have to have the courage tosay something. And it is very
scary to say, can you pleaseremove that from the area that we're organizing
it now, we wouldn't have anyproblems saying those porn magazines and toise you
(20:29):
know that you have, I meanyou you come across stuff and you're like,
oh, we have our rules ofengagement to remove those from the area,
to prevent all parties from being embarrassedand maybe a little bit uncomfortable.
So the fact that a really good, true Christ in our business can say
to a client, this is how'sa really different energy that I don't think
(20:53):
works well for your office and functionwit practitioners can deliver that message differently.
But if when you're trying to deliverit as from God, James, since
you have so much training, helpme understand and in the audience today,
why can a functue practitioner deliver thatmessage more easily than a Christian? Well,
(21:17):
I mean there's there's there's several answers. There's several answers to that.
There's several different layered answers to that, and one of them that one of
them would be because Functue doesn't mentionGod. Sometimes that's the difference depending on
the ear that they're talking. Isay, the ear that they're talking to
me a person attached to the ear, but the ear that hears it for
(21:38):
some for some people, even thoughit's not super far off. But when
you're just talking terms of energy, they say universe. There's there's terms they
use that take out the actual wordsGod, Christ, Holy Spirit. For
some folks it just seems, Iguess, easier to take because it's they're
(22:00):
not saying specifically using the word Godin there, and I think it's just
and for some of it's just it'san easier thing to swallow and accept for
some reason. But then I knowclients they hear that, they shut down.
They need to hear God, HolyGood and Holy Spirit, the Trinity
God. They want to hear this, They want to hear that. They
(22:22):
want to hear something from the OldTestament or the New Testament. They want
to hear something a psalm. Youknow, they saw them ninety one protections.
They want to hear certain things asyou're sitting up a room because yeah,
everything's energy. I totally agree thateverything's energy, their spirits and energy,
that kind of stuff. But Iknow for some people it's my side
when you take when you take theword God out or take the word Christian
(22:44):
out of it, for some reason, it's safer, easier, less combative,
less controversial nowadays when they say stufflike that as to when you add
them, so, I don't know, I don't know exactly what they answer.
You one for me, but that'skind of I noticed that there's usually
two camps that happen when you mentionedlike this at this interview. Some folks
(23:07):
may go, they'll see faithful organizingrights center business. They may go,
I don't if I want to hearit, because you're hearing they're thinking judgments.
They're thinking judgments. So when yousay christ Christian, they're thinking,
oh, they're going to judge me. I think's judgment functioning. It's safer,
it seems lighter, and there's nobut there's no judgment either. One's
(23:29):
been talking about judgment, so it'slike it doesn't there's both of them are
not talking about judgment. They're bothabout you living a much fuller, fully
developed life in your space. That'sthe kind of answer. I don't know.
They're both about managing energy in thespace, right, you know,
(23:49):
they're both equally concerned with managing thatenergy. And and some just because some
people don't understand what kind of energyis actually happening. For example, I'm
helping a mom who has a yogabusiness, and she has tons of yoga
books, and she has crystals andshe has all she's very energy sensitive.
(24:11):
I don't know if she's a Christian, and it doesn't matter, but I
haven't seen any signs that there's Christianityin the home. But it doesn't matter.
She hired me to help with theoffice and what I what I When
I listened to her, the HolySpirit enabled me to speak her language.
So I said, you know, this is interesting because you said, you
(24:32):
can't find any of your books whenyou need your books, and you're very
frustrated because you're trying to go tothe next level in your career, as
you know, a yogi and andsell the crystals. And she's just very
lovely, just a good gentle spirit, and so she was as soon as
we got to the bilecabinet, itwas like you know, And so I
(24:53):
said, oh, okay, listen, how about this. I'm gonna tell
you two or three things that I'mgoing to reflect back to you. You
don't like all these papers in youryour yo Yogi's room office, We can
relocate those that the energy of thesepapers are making you like your ears.
(25:15):
You know, your shoulders go toyours and as soon as you talk about
them, you get like this.So we're going to remove all those and
we're gonna do something else. Shehas a huge home, so we have
plenty of room to manage papers inanother area. But I also said,
which maybe a functional person would say, I'm like, ninety five percent of
your books in this office are blockedby something. And she's like hmm.
(25:40):
I said, well, I can'tread the titles of ninety percent of the
books in here, and I justwas quiet. I said, you mentioned
how upsetting it was for you whenyour crystals felt locked up in a cabinet.
You felt the crystals had in thatcouldn't get out. But what I
(26:02):
submit to you is the other partof the energy issue in this office is
that every single book has something infront of it or it's shoved behind in
the back of a cabinet, sono wonder you can't find anything. And
she just processed that, and Ijust kept quiet, which is a very
(26:26):
good skill I've learned over time.Let the person think what you just said.
I'm a super fast processor, sowaiting for thirty seconds to me sounds
like a long time. A twominutes later, you know, it's like
I'm still waiting for that person tosay something. Thank god, I have
(26:47):
learned over time to go okay andjust waiting. But and she had this
big smile on her face after sheprocessed it. Maybe was only thirty seconds,
maybe's forty five. It felt likea long time because I didn't know
what she was going to be madat what I said. You know,
I've never met this woman. Ididn't know she's going to feel like,
oh, she's judging. I justwas trying to present the information her language
(27:11):
after you know, chack it.She was so excited that she got to
work that night. I mean, she had so much done for time.
By our next session, it waslike she said, I had this flow
and she just you know, thingsstarted going in the right direction. And
I would have to say and submitto you that I wouldn't you know,
display that kind of wisdom if Iwent in there by myself without God.
(27:38):
So I'm not going to take credit. The only credit I'm going to take
is I've gotten better at listening toGod and not myself. Well, I
you know they also, I justI just you just when my coaching clients
yesterday and they're like, oh myGod, I love it. I had
to learn that God's always looking outfor me. He's alwayking aroud. He's
(28:00):
looking out for all of us.Always he's on our side. He's on
our side, looking out for us. So this also goes for your organizers
out there who are trying to getbusiness. Yes, I know we're all
trying to work. In California. My gas is like six bucks a gallon.
I get it. The eggs orten dollars a dozen. I get
it. I get it. Iget it, I get it. I
get it. The rents are expensive, we're always on the freeway. I
(28:22):
get it. You gotta make somemoney. I get it. However,
common because I have got in mylife, he has jobs have fallen through.
My gut is spoken I didn't takecertain joke, accept certain jobs.
There are things that came up andI go, that's God closing the door.
(28:45):
That's God going nope, not mad, No, No, don't do
that, no, Nope. Youmay have won that job. So I
know you won that job so bad. I know you thought you wanted that
job so bad. But I'm lookingout for you and saying that's not gonna
be it for whatever reason. Wedon't even know whatever reason, that's not
gonna be it. And I canalmost guarantee you folks out there when those
(29:06):
things have happened. Yes, yes, my sadness a little bit. You
go through the mot you feel thatmore of the loss whatever, but a
better job came. I would saynine to nine percent of the time directly
from something like that, then somethingelse comes up in its place. I
had I had it happened to belast weekend, happened last week. I
had two clients who are just justmessing with me. I gues, I
(29:30):
don't know what they're don't go.And so I had to talk to God
because I wanted to use my tongue, like to guide my tongue. I'm
gonna stay professional and I just kindof say, okay, James was disappointments
I got, I got said letit go, so I'm gonna let it
go, and I was almost cussedyou. Not two hours later, I
(29:52):
booked two new clients. It's aseparate thing I was doing, but two
new clients at a higher rate andit's actually a more fun situation. So
directly from those two clients that kindof take me over, two other clients
came and it was a better situationand more money because I left it in
(30:17):
God's hands and it said, Igotta let it go. I gotta let
go, I gotta let go.You can't control people. You gotta let
it go. And when I letit go, and I truly let it
go with his help, it wasn'tall me his help. Something else came.
So I just want people to say, I want to know we're talking
about faith for organizing and stuff. That's also part of that too, because
we're in business, Angela. You'rein business. I'm in business. We
(30:38):
gotta make some money. I gotI got stuff going on. I got
a house mortgage, and I wasbut you have to let God in so
actually he'll guide you along, rightAngeler, there you go that's my story.
Well, hey, guess what, you know, James, we all
started off the same way. Ilove how you know, some organizers are
like, oh, you know,I just always had a big business.
You know, everybody has to startoff. So we're okay, let's all
(31:00):
be honest, and it's better ifwe're all honest. We all start a
zero and get to something. Andso we all start off. You know,
I'd say, do a little testrun, you know, hey,
let's organize for cheap and let medo this, and you test her and
then it's like, ooh, I'mthis is good. I meant to do
this. And then you're like,oh, I'm called to do this.
And then you get to that momentwhere you get goosebumps. You're like,
(31:22):
I am called to this. Thisis my career, my mission. And
I think that the worst thing, the worst advice I've ever gotten from professional
organizers, mentors. You know,I was a veteran in the Air Force.
I served for fourteen years, soI I was a major in the
Air Force. When I became amom, hece my nicknamed Major Mom.
(31:44):
But the I still have veteran mentorsand they'll they'll tell me, you know,
to follow the money and what theymean by that. And they've said
this for seventeen years. They'll say, you know, you you could make
a million dollars, you know,in revenue, you can. You could
hit a million dollars in revenue somuch more easily if you did relocations,
(32:05):
if you did packing and unpacking, and you know, things like that,
and and this is what I tellmy kids still to this day, because
this is what my grand my grandfathertold me. Do not chase the money,
chase your calling and your gifts.Let the calling lead you. Chase
(32:27):
that. But I don't like packingthings and wrapping them. I don't want
to lead a crew doing it.I sure a sec don't want to pack
up the house and put it ona truck. And I've moved thirty seven
times. I know the hell.I don't like doing that, and I
don't like doing it for myself, and I don't like doing it for others.
And I still don't. And sopeople still will tell me, you
know, if you went if youwent into commercial organizing and you know reproductivity,
(32:52):
you know, you could go inand you could really get a company
all organized. You can make somuch more money. Okay, I've done
three jobs and seven teen years thathave employees involved in it, and all
three times it is just a nightmareprocess. You think working with the husband
and wife and their they're teenagers ishard, okay, You go in and
work with the CEO that's mismanaging everything, another manager who's mismanaging, and the
(33:15):
employees that are being told here's howwe're going to organize everything. Yet that's
not me. Then, God blessall those people that are called to that.
God bless all of the senior movemanagers and the people who are called
to work in that industry. Ohyou should. You should do senior moves.
You make so much more money. But I'm not called to them.
Called to work with busy moms andtheir kids. It's my calling. I
(33:39):
agree with that completely. And everyonewill always have suggestions copying kind again,
guiding my tongue today. They alwayshave suggestions for you, and sometimes they're
correct. Sometimes you're like, oh, yeah, I thought I have for
okay, but yes, our organizingbusiness, Angelaine, You know this,
it is so vast and varied. You can find your place in this,
(34:02):
in this, in this industry, there's and there's so many there. You
can you're like digital stuff, there'sdigital You're like this is there's a plenty
of everything. So like you,I've got advice over the years. I
like, Okay, first of all, I'm successful, so I need your
advice. But number two, thereare certain things I don't want to do
either. And for a lot ofus, who are I say long timers
because we've been around for a whilewhere we're a decade and a half to
(34:23):
two decades to and depdades in ourneeds are different. Are ones are different.
That's just how it is. I'mgonna I want to do some more
shows on us longer timers, becauseit's just different. It's a world for
us. We've done a lot ofdifferent things and we know we want to
do It's like, well, jashould I don't want to do that?
That's not it. It sounds funto me, whatsoever. I rather And
(34:45):
again I had to stop chasing themoney too, because it didn't work.
It didn't work. Once I stoppedchasing the money and just started putting out
what I wanted to put out,the money found me. It'll find you.
That's that's kind of things. Whenyou're it's almost like when you try
super hard to be different. Itdoesn't work. Just be different whatever that
(35:07):
means. I just don't. Don't. So are Just be whatever it is
you want to be, and theright folks will find you. Oh okay,
I said, I do these shows. The audience will find this show.
There's no show like to my showlike this I'm doing for nine years.
There's no show like mine out there. And I've been me the whole
time. I've been told you shouldhave personal backgrounds and do this over here.
I said, I've done all ofthat, and that hasn't changed.
(35:32):
When I own it of my show, it hasn't changed my audience. And
then I don't get a bigger audienceI can. I had intros and out.
Then I said, worry, theylike the meat potatoes of my shows.
I know my audience, so Iknow what I'm doing, and I'm
fine at what I'm doing, andI'm different enough from somebody else because you
have to stand out, you know, major mam has to stand out from
every other time, you know, for the harry A boy and their businesses.
(35:53):
So I just I saw like them. That's the things that you have
to go. No, God's guidingus. He's already got us in his
hands and he's like, major,Mom, I got you. So you
stay tuned to yourself and your mission, and I'll bring people to you.
Oh, I'll bring the business toyou. Don't worry, it'll come to
you. Says, not to worry. So I mean, yeah, every
(36:15):
once in a while, like he'llbe so clear during the pandemic when you
know in Indian I was in Indianaat the time of the pandemic. I've
lived in four states as a professionalorganizer, so I've gotten to see different
markets and economies, which has beenpretty cool. But we had we had
total shutdowns here and like other placesanyway, So I don't know what to
(36:35):
do with myself. I was soI was so bored. He hints,
you know where the book. Iwas just like, okay, God,
what do you want me to dowith all this time? I can't stand
being so bored like this. Sothat's where I was like, oh,
we got to take all the devotionswritten over the last twenty years and make
a book. Well, of course, we didn't take twenty years of devotions.
We did the you know, Ithink what made the cut here is
(36:55):
twenty Let's see, maybe like fifteen, twenty five forty devotions. But the
thing is is that we had onehundred more we could have added to the
book. Right, So that's wherethe selection committee comes. But I felt
God saying I've misheard God many times. I thought God was telling me to
be a foster parent. And Ikept seeing commercials for foster parents, and
(37:21):
then Wendy's, you know, littleWendy's has their foster parent program, the
restaurant Wendy's, And anyway, longstory short, I'm thinking, I'm keep
telling my family, we have tohelp some kids, we have to foster
children. And I hear it,I hear it strong. And then one
day I said to God, youknow, the next foster parent I meet,
(37:42):
I'm going to help them. I'mgoing to get to know them,
I'm going to organize them. I'mgoing to do something. Just the next
one I meet, I'm going todo it for free. I'm going to
go in there and just learn thewhole foster you know, just be friend
of foster mom and see how Ican start learning to be a foster mom.
Well, literally the day after,I said, okay, God,
if you bring a foster mom tome, I'm going to organize for her
(38:05):
for free, because you know, there's also this pride thing that swells up
in those of us who've been doingit for fifteen to twenty years. We
don't work for free. I don'twork for free. I don't do anything
for free. And then God's like, the heck you don't, girl,
And so it's like, oh,so I go into Fitchicks where I was
working out as all women. Fitchickshim on the treadmill next to somebody,
(38:29):
and you know, she's younger thanme, and we're talking and she's like,
she's like, yeah, you know, I have two foster kids right
now and it's really really hard, and like you do. And she just
didn't look like what I thought offoster ram would look like. You know.
So we can all be so judgmentalwhat they're supposed to look like,
what they should look like, andso so I sometimes surprise myself how I
(38:52):
judge people on accident, you know. And so then because she had all
kinds of piercings and tattoos, I'mjust gonna be honest. So I was
like, oh, you're a fosterand I think she was like yeah,
and so I said I pulled outof it quickly. I said oh,
I said. The reason why thisis so surprising to me is because God
(39:15):
told me yesterday to organize for thenext foster mom that I meet for free.
And she goes, you're kidding.I'm like no, and she's like,
Oh, we could so use yourhelp. We are so overwhelmed.
There's stuff everywhere. We can't getour cars in the garage. And I
got goosebumps. And the cool thingis is she's atheist. So it was
(39:37):
kind of like God saying, pleaseshow her how much I love her.
It was awesome, and I organizedthere three times for free. The third
time I did ask for five hundredbucks because it was a huge part of
the job, only because I hadto bring other people in. I said,
if I have to bring other peoplein, they have to get paid.
(39:58):
But God's gonna pay me a differentway on this one. I already
know that because He's in charge ofit all. See. I love that.
See, folks, there's some storiesfor you. That's that. I
wanted to get that out there becauseagain, I'm here for the organizer.

(41:06):
They're like, oh my god,he's no. It have to be a
very special situation where we knew Godwas calling us. I read from the
last time talking to you. Ithink we hit it off. So I
mean that's whine. That's why Ireached out to you that So I was
