Speaker 1 (00:16):
Welcome to the Sunday Word with Minister Anthony Smith. It
is a Monday evening that I'm doing this, so but
nonetheless we're still going to take a look at the
Sunday Word, and tonight I want to talk about God's
ultimate sacrifice, the gift of Love, coming from John three sixteen,

(00:41):
and it reads, for God so loved the world that
he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in
him should not perish but have ever lasting life. Once again,
God's ultimate sacrifice, the gift of Love. Today we turn

(01:06):
our hearts and minds to a verse that has blessed
countless souls through the ages John three point sixteen. It
is often called the Gospel in a nutshell as we
cherish the clarity of this verse because it captures the
very essence of salvation, God's love demonstrated through his gift

(01:29):
of his son, Jesus Christ. So today I want us
to meditate on God's ultimate sacrifice, his love so great
that he willingly gave his only son to save a
lost world. This is the foundation of our faith, the

(01:51):
hope of our souls, and the message we are called
to proclaim. The message of God's love is this For
God so loved the world. We need to understand first
of all, this unconditional and universal love. God's love is

(02:12):
not selective. It extends to the world, every tribe, tongue,
and nation. Here's an illustration. Think of the prodigal son Luke,
chapter fifteen. No matter how far we stray, God's love
is always reaching out to us. And we know the

(02:36):
story of the prodigal son. He went to his father.
He basically said, I want my portion.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Even though he was the youngest, I do believe he
wanted his portion.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
So his father decided, okay, I'll go ahead and give
you your portion.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
His son packed up his few clothes when to a.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Far away land, spent all his money on rioters, living
had so called friends. When the money ran out, they
did too. It got so bad he found himself eating
out the same slot with the pigs. And I believe

(03:21):
even they didn't want them there. And you know when
pigs and south, when they eat, they be grunting. And
I believe what made the boy go home. And this
is just my imagination. I believe while he was down
there and eating with the pigs, they was grunting and telling.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Him, go home, go home, go home.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
And I think he heard that, and that's when he decided,
you know what, I think I'll rise and go back home.
I don't even want to consider myself a son. I'll
just go back and be a hired servant. But this
is how love works. The father saw his son from
afar off and instead of saying, oh, you're back, well,

(04:08):
you know you have to you know there's things you
have to go through. Now, the father loved his son,
went and met him, hugged him, killed the fattest calf,
had a celebration for him.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
That's God's love.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
No matter how far we straight, he still there with
outstretched arms, waiting for us to return back home. So
when you think of Loop fifteen, no matter how far
we straight, God's love is always.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
Reaching out to us.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
In the Jewish mindset, God's love was often seen as
exclusive to Israel, but Jesus came to blow that idea
wide open. Because John three sixteen declares that God's love
is for all mankind. We believe in a universal savior.

(05:05):
Our evangelism must reflect this. No one is beyond the
reach of God's love. We are called to share the
Gospel broadly and inclusively. The greatest gift that he gave
his only begotten son. This is called divine sacrifice. The

(05:26):
love of God is fully demonstrated in the giving of
his son. There's a hymn that says, let's remember, oh,
the deep, deep love of Jesus. How deep his love
truly is. The uniqueness of Jesus. The phrase only begotten

(05:47):
son the Greek monogenius, emphasizes jesus unique and divine nature.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
This is not just any gift.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
It is the gift of God's very best, his own son,
who is coequal and co eternal. Imagine a parent giving
up their only child to save others. Such love is rare,
but God's love surpasses even that He gave his son

(06:24):
to die in our place. I've heard it said like this,
Jesus paid a debt that he didn't owe, and we
owe a debt that we can't pay. The cross as
the pinnacle. The cross is the ultimate proof of his love,

(06:46):
a divine love poured out in sacrifice. The purpose of
the sacrifice that whosoever believes in him should not perish,
but have ever lasting life. So now we take a
look at salvation through faith salvation is not automatic.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
It requires faith.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
The Baptist doctrine says it like this, salvation is by grace.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Through faith alone.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
Ephesians Chapter two, Verses eight and nine. The universal offer
the word whosoever means anyone, regardless of background, race, or
past sins. Our calling is to evangelize, reach the loss

(07:36):
with this life change a message the contrast perishing eternal
separation from God, everlasting life and eternal life and eternal
relationship with God. Another hymn to consider singing just as
I Am, a personal invitation to come and believe the

(08:01):
depth of God's love demonstrated on.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
The cross, true love and action.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
John fifteen and thirteen says it like this greater love
hath no man than this, that a man lay down
his life for his friends the cost of salvation. Jesus
endured shame, Jesus endured pain, and Jesus endured death, the

(08:27):
ultimate sacrifice.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
Imagine a court room.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
For justice de Mand's punishment and Jesus steps in as
our substitute.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
That's divine love at work.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
The Cross as the centerpiece of Christianity is not just
a symbol, it's the means of salvation. Our response faith
repentance and evangelism. Have you trusted Jesus Christ as your savior?
Here's an invitation. If not, now it's the time to believe.

(09:07):
Faith is the key to eternal life, living a grateful life.
As believers, we are called to live for Christ, to
love others, serve faithfully, and share the gospel.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
Just as God loved the world.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
Enough to send his son, we must be faithful in
telling others about this love.

Speaker 2 (09:31):
The practical steps we can take.

Speaker 1 (09:34):
Share your testimony, Invite others to church our gospel meetings.
Pray for opportunities to witness the certainty of eternal life.
Assurance in Christ. John ten and twenty eight promises, and
I give unto them eternal life, and they shall never perish.
Living with hope no matter what troubles we face, the

(09:58):
promise of eternal life sustains us. As we conclude, John
three point sixteen is the heartbeat of the gospel. It
reveals God's love so vast, so deep, that he sacrificed

(10:23):
his only son for a lost for a world lost
in sin. It calls us to faith, to repentance, and
to evangelism. Let us respond today by trusting in Jesus Christ,
sharing his love and living as witnesses of his grace.

(10:46):
Let us pray, Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you
about down here his humble hearts, to say thank you
for showing us what real love is.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Not love as the world shows, but love that.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
You show when you sacrifice your only begotten son, That
while we were yet still sinners, you sent.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Your son to die for us. Your son Jesus took.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
On the debt that he didn't owe, because it's a
debt that we could not pay. And what we simply
want to do is just say thank you, thank you,
thank you. If you have never trusted Christ as your savior,
I invite you now to come forward or pray where

(11:45):
you are surrendering your life to him. Believers, renew your
commitment to share the Gods fore boldly and live in
the assurance of God's great love. Once again, the Heavenly Father,
we thank you for your indescribable gift, Son, Jesus Christ.
Help us to grasp the depth of your love and

(12:05):
to respond with faith and obedience. Use us to reach
others with the good news of salvation. May your love
so fill our hearts that it overflows to those around us.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
Just want to leave you with this, go in love
in the love of God, confident in his salvation, and
commit it to sharing his love with the lost will.
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love
of our God, and the fellowship.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
I want to also say send a shout out to
a new friend who I'm pretty sure is listening to this.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Her name is Ginger.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
I hope that this podcast tonight will bless you immaculately.
Share with your other friends. Let them know that you
met her from who's not ashamed of the gospel. For
the Bible declares if you be ashamed to owe me
in the presence of men, I would be ashamed to
own you in the presence of my Father. So if
you find this podcast a blessing, then bless somebody else.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
And share it with them.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Until the next time, be blessed. I love you, but
God loves you better.
