That way, it will already be available for your listening pleasure.
I'm not gonna even schedule it to air on tomorrow.
I'm going to go ahead and give it to you
tonight so that you will be in the loop as
to what we're gonna discuss tonight. We're going to talk
about this day coming out of Psalms one eighteen, verse
(01:32):
twenty four. But we're going to get things started with
a segment. I like ministry moments with Maria, and I
don't do that as often as I should, but we're
doing it to evening. Matter of fact, I don't even
scream what it is that she sends because I know
(01:54):
the content that she sends is good. It's either with
a song and at they work and a word of
the day. Sometimes it's just a song. Sometimes it's just
an encouraging word.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
But whatever the case is, we're going to turn it over.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
Two ministry moments with Maria.
Speaker 5 (02:26):
I love to sing it's word its soiunds like you.
Speaker 6 (02:39):
In my.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
Gou sweet.
Speaker 5 (02:45):
His name all ver.
Speaker 7 (02:49):
And I sing, Oh how I love geezsus single, Oh.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
How I love geeeez? So, how I love geeesus? Be?
Could he first loved me?
Speaker 8 (03:23):
Great day and welcome to ministry Moments with Maria. John
three point sixteen says, for God so loved the world
that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes
on him should not perish but have ever lasting life.
He loved us first, so we owe him our love
in return, God loves you.
Speaker 6 (03:45):
I love you. Have a great rest of your.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
Day, and now you see you. I enjoy the ministry
moments with Maria. That song right there is it's one
of my all time favorites. It's one of the songs
we do in the opening part of the service at
(04:08):
Shallow Missionary Baptist Church, where I do still attend where
I serve as a musician and associate minister. But that
is one of my all time favorite songs. It's in
my estimation, it's one of those songs that can never
get old. Even in today's land of the contemporary sound,
(04:30):
the hip hop movement, the R and B sound that
has infiltrated the church, some songs just ought to remain.
And that particular song right there is one of the
standards that should remain a staple as a church pillar.
(04:52):
The old folks used to see it like this, A
new broom sweeps pretty good, but if you wanna get
into the cracks in corner and get a real good clean,
grab you an old broom. And that's how them old
songs are. These these new songs, they make you feel good.
And I'm I know it's some are listening at me.
(05:12):
They'll say like, well, I I really don't agree with
what you're saying, and that's fine. I'm not forcing you
to agree. But even in your contemporary state of mind,
you know when a song like Amazing Grace, how sweet
the sound comes on? Or Oh how I Love Jesus,
or Precious Lord take my hand, you know, good and
well even in your contemporary state of mind. When when
(05:33):
of them songs come on, it literally makes you pause
in your tracks and reflect. Not so much on the
beat and the groove, but those words have a way
of stirring you up, not just emotionally, but also spiritually. Today,
like I said, we're going to look at Psalms when
(05:55):
they teen verse twenty four and it reads, do see
this is the day which the Lord hath made. We
will rejoice and be glad in it.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Every morning we wake up.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
We're giving something priceless, a day, not borrowed, not earned,
but gifted by God.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
Now let that resonate. God has given us something that we.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Can't pay for. We can't borrow it, we can't even
earn it. Even there on our best day, the Bible
still declares we're nothing but filth and ray. But God
gives us this day. Psalms one eighteen twenty four is
(06:48):
more than a poetic line. It's a powerful declaration of faith, gratitude,
and perspective.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
And I'm one of those ones.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
I'm y you could call me a disruptor, so to speak,
because oftentimes I run across people and I used to
be guilty of this myself, but it's.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
A catch phrase that says today is not my day.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
Well, according to what we just read Psalms one eighteen
and twenty four, that would be a true assessment. It
is not our day because we aren't the ones who.
Speaker 3 (07:26):
Made the day.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
But we are living in this day by the one
who made the day. So this is the day which
the Lord hath made. We will rejoice and be glad
in it. So let's consider three truths this verse teaches
us about living in the moment with purpose and praise. First,
(07:51):
this day is a gift from God. This the day
which the Lord has made. The Lord made this day.
That means it's not random.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
It's not just another twenty four hours.
Speaker 4 (08:04):
It's hand crafted by the Creator. Whether sunshine or rain,
ease or hardship, God is still the arthur.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Of the day.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Imagine you receiving a gift from someone who you deeply loved.
You didn't discard it or ignore it. You open it
with joy. You know how you do it Christmas time.
You you go up under the tree or whatever the
gift may be, laying that and you notice the gift
that is for you, and you open it with joy.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
Each day it is like that rapped in.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Mercy and grace delivered by God himself. So don't curse today,
consecrate it. So how do you curse the day? Cause
I know there are some who teach you c you
can't curse.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Uh, God is own.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
But there is a way you can curse this day
by complaining, always having something negative to say.
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Even Jove himself at one point despised the day that
he was born. So yes, you you can curse today,
But the contrast is consecrated. Don't curse it, consecrated beginning.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Your morning with Lord. You made this day, helped me
walk in it with faith.
Speaker 4 (09:48):
The next point of ampstance I wanna bring to our
attention is this day is a call to rejoice, not complain. Rejoice,
not be upset and look at the day with dread,
but rejoice cause the verse as we will rejoice. Rejoicing
(10:12):
is a choice, not a reaction. Even if circumstances don't
feel joyful, and they won't always feel joyful, we rejoice
because of who made the day, not what happens in it.
Look at Paul and Silas and Acts sixteen. They didn't
(10:33):
wait for their release to rejoice. They praised in their pain.
Their worship wasn't based on freedom nor location. It was
based on faith. In other words, rejoice in God's goodness
even when the day is difficult. Their joy is a witness,
(10:56):
a declaration that God is greater than your circumstances.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
What I am going to do right here, I am
going to take a break.
Speaker 4 (11:12):
But as I leave out on this break, I am
going to give you another ministry moments with Maria and
we'll be back to wrap things.
Speaker 6 (11:21):
Up on some want usual wall. It's Friday. You see
right through the mess inside me, and you call me
out to pull me in. You tell me how can
start again, And I don't need to keep on hidey.
(11:44):
I'm fully known and loved by you. You won't it
go no matter what I do. And it's not one
on the it's all truth that ridiculous as grade to
be known, fully known and loved by you. I'm fully
(12:11):
known and loved by you.
Speaker 9 (12:18):
Great day, and welcome to ministry moments with Maria. And
not a song that I'm so not really comfortable singing. However,
it was ringing in my spirit and on today I
needed to share with someone that it doesn't matter where
you've been, it doesn't matter what you've been through. It
doesn't matter what you're going through. God fully knows you,
(12:40):
and yet he still loves you.
Speaker 6 (12:44):
So on today, that is your message.
Speaker 9 (12:46):
God loves you. I love you.
Speaker 10 (12:49):
Have a great rest of your day.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
Welcome back to the Sunday Word with Minister Anthony Smith.
As we are talking about this day, not yesterday, not tomorrow,
but we're talking about this day. Yesterday is buried, it's
(14:06):
over with. We can't go back and dig up what
happened yesterday. Tomorrow is not promise. I remember even being
said like this, be thankful for the gift that is
the present. You notice how when we reference the present,
(14:30):
it's spelled pri e s e n t present, like
a present that you receive this morning when you woke
up or you traveled in from your overnight job.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
You are.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Operating in a gift, not a gift to exercise, but
a gift that was given, which is this day, the
present day, the gift of this day. You were given life,
you were given the opportunity to bring He was given
the activities of your limbs, a reasonable portion of your
health and strength, so the least of you can you
(15:09):
can do a reasonable portion of your service is to
give God praise for this day. As we were going
into the break, we put some influency on emphasis on
even if your circumstances don't feel joyful, rejoice because.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Of who made the day, not what happened in it.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
We also looked at the illustration of Paul and Silace
singing in prison in I Acts sixteen. See some of
us need to take our cue from Paul and Silence.
And when I say some of us, I'm still work
in progress. In the essence is that they didn't wait
for their release to rejoice. They praised in their pain
(15:55):
because their worship wasn't based on their freedom, it wasn't
based on their location, was based on their faith. In
other words, rejoice in God's goodness even when the day
is difficult. Your joy is a witness, a declaration that
God is greater than your circumstances. What does that mean,
(16:16):
especially when it says you your joy is a witness
and a declaration that God is greater than your circumstances.
You never know who's watching. Sometimes the only Bible people
will read is what they see in you. So the
last point of Empsins we wanna look at is this
(16:39):
day deserves your full attention, meaning be glad in it.
Be glad in this day, not yesterday, not tomorrow, because
like I said, tomorrow is not promise.
Speaker 3 (16:54):
Some live in.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
Regret of the past, while others in fear of the future.
Some are in fear of what President Donald Trump may
be doing next. Some is wondering if the retirement plan
is gonna be there when come time, and then retire
and draw their retirement. But instead God invites us to
(17:23):
embrace today.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
Plain and simple.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
Today we whatever happened yesterday, you have to have that
short term memory and forget about it. Live in today,
rejoice in today. Jesus even said in Matthew six and
thirty four, take therefore no thought for tomorrow, for themorrow
(17:48):
shall take thought for the things of itself. In other words,
there is nothing we can Yes, we can plan and prepare,
like I'm planning next weekend to be at my cousin's funeral,
have to play the song, walk around every Yes, I
can prepare for that, But right now I'm doing what
(18:09):
I presently need to do, sharing God's word that it
may go for.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
Yes, I'm planning to be in.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
Church service in Tulsa Oklahoma, the Sunday after the ongoing
service of my cousin. Yes, I'm planning and preparing for that,
But once again, therefore, take no thought for tomorrow, for
tomorrow shall take thought for the things of itself. In
other words, whether we're here tomorrow or whether we're not
(18:43):
here tomorrow, tomorrow is going to take care of itself.
There's nothing we can do about what happens on tomorrow.
Live in a present and be thankful. A prime example
of that is a man was so focused on reaching
his new destination he ignored the beautiful flowers along the path.
(19:04):
He arrived quickly, but missed the wonder of the journey.
In other words, slow down, savor.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
The blessings of today. Don't waste today worrying about what
might happen. Meet God in the now. You know.
Speaker 4 (19:23):
I wanna also use another illustration, because most times people decide, well,
you know what, I wanna get to my next destination.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
In a hurry or fast, So I'm not doing all
that driving. I'd rather fly.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Well, I I've never been a big proponent of flying.
I've flown a few times. I can tell I many
times I've flown. I've flown three times in my fifty
seven years of living. I grew up with with Mama
and daddy, and I do put emptys on Mama and daddy.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Uh. And when we took vacations, we drove.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
If we was gonna take a long trip, usually we
pulled in somewhere like the evening or the night before,
got us some moat tail room. But the beauty of
those road trips was the beauty of the sights along
the way to our destination. As a matter of fact,
if I had it my way, and I know when
(20:21):
my wife here is this.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
Year, would probably say, why did you put that out
there like that?
Speaker 4 (20:25):
And well one is my podcast sh she would prefer
to fly. If I had it my way, I would
prefer to drive and take a molt, get a molt
tail room, at least get over halfway to our.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
Destination before we pull in. There is so much.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Beauty along the way that you miss out on that
you can't see thirty thousand feet in the half. So
that's why come I could appreciate all those road trips
me and my parents took.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
As a child growing up, because you.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
See need so many beautiful sights, You witnessed so many
things that you would normally not see hovering thirty thousand feet.
Speaker 3 (21:06):
Yes, it's a convenience to get there quick. But me
I be.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Honest as tire of some as they can be, I'd
really drive we we we took a trip to Nicodemus, Kansas,
and I enjoyed the scenery along the way.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
What does that have to do with this day?
Speaker 4 (21:31):
Slow down, savor the blessings of today, enjoy the scenery.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Don't waste today worrying about what might happen. Meet God
in the now. That's what that has to do with
this is today. So as we conclude, Psalms eighteen one
twenty four reminds us today is sacred.
Speaker 4 (21:51):
Joy is a choice, and now is the moment to
live for God's glory. Let this verse become the anthem
of your mornings. This is the day which the Lord
hath made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.
As a final challenge, wake up with worship, Face the
(22:14):
day with faith, live the moment with gratitude. As we
get ready to close out, I want to close us out.
Speaker 3 (22:40):
In a word of prayer.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Lord God, we thank you for this day hand crafted
by you. Help us to rejoice, not because of what
we see, but because of who you are. Teach us
to walk and enjoy, to live in the moment, and
(23:05):
to trust in your process. May we never waste the
day you have made in Jesus name.
Speaker 3 (23:16):
Aymen.
Speaker 4 (23:17):
I want to say hello to some new listeners out
there who may be listening to this podcast.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Uh. Person I'm running to at the gym, her name
is Ginger.
Speaker 4 (23:28):
She I enjoy the conversations that we have very spiritually
enlightening to know that not all young people going around
playing loud music, uh, looking like this and looking like that.
There are some young people that are trusting in believing
in God's work and not ashamed to share the gospel. Ginger,
(23:50):
continue to let your light shine before me that they
may see your good words and glory for your Father
which is in heaven.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
Ilso, to my good friends.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
At Quick Trip Jamie, you are indeed a sister. Indeed,
you are definitely my sister in Christ. Hope you are
also enjoying these podcasts.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
And also to.
Speaker 4 (24:20):
Another friend of mine's out there, Sabrina, I know you've
been going through some times and you have questioned your
faith at times.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
I don't wanna say to you continue to hold on
and hold out. I've seen your elevation from one job
to the next.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
Continue to walk in your purpose that God has designed
for you. To everybody else, wanna let you know that
if you're not busy on tomorrow eleven o'clock service, we
invite you to Shallow Missionary Baptist Church located at fifteen
fifty five North Hydraulic. I have been tasked with the
(25:00):
duty of bringing the word, even though I'm in the
process of getting ready to head to work and have
to work that overnight shift. But it's that those moments
when I am weak, He gives me strength. So until
the next time, as a friend of mine says, be blessed,
be a blessing, until the next time I'm out
