Speaker 1 (00:37):
Looking to a special edition of this. Besides the fact
that is only is the fact that it is inspired by.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Yun and not just any young people, but young maidens
play fast.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
So the first I want to say, following beyond the
mass based on.
Speaker 2 (01:33):
Have Chuck Cope.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Stated that he has a long drive, so you can
listen to my sports podcast. So I want to if
I'm gonna shout out and tell him thanks for listening,
hopefully he'll want to listen to this one as well too. However,
this one, like I said, this is inspired by young people.
As I look at the circuit, I know that there
(02:04):
are some teams now going out to Las Vegas for
the Tournament of Champions, the Nike Tournament of Champions, and
you have some teams I know out the Oklahoma area
going to the tf n's run for Roses Classic, and
(02:28):
I picked up quite a few followers on my.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
X account.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
And what I want to do is simply dedicate this
to all the young ladies to going to both places
that I mentioned because growing up, uh, you just hear
my dad, who pastor of church, He used to say,
all young people aren't going to ruin.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
And when I look at some of these bios you see.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
So I'm saying God for Jesus follower post their favorite
scriptures I've seen, like Olippians four and seventeen.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
But tonight we're gonna come from.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
A very familiar passage, one that has often been quoted
as much as the twenty third Psalm says, and this one,
I will say is inspired by Jazzlin Ezel. If I
pronounce that name right, who's a member of sci Fair?
(03:38):
I think that Scyfair, Oklahoma e forty sixteen U.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
She also goes to hook for t High School.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
I believe that's in Tulsa, Oklahoma, class of twenty twenty seven.
And her go to a scripture I believe it's Philippians
one thirteen.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
So I want.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
To say that she's the inspiration for this podcast. And
tonight we're going to talk about strength for every shot.
Say this is inspired by Jazzen, but it goes out
to all the young women that are on the court
(04:29):
playing the game. The scripture says I can do all
things through Christ, which strengthened me. So I want to
address the young ladies basketball team purpose to encourage players
(04:53):
to rely on Christ's strength both on and off the court.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
God is on the court with you. Before you take the.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Court, I want to remind you of something powerful.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
You not alone out there. It's not just you, your teammates,
your coaches, and the refts. God is with you.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
Philippians twere thirteen says I can do all things through Christ.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Which strengthens That first is more than a slope, It's
a promise.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
You may have practiced hard condition your body, study plays
and built chemistry, but the greatest strength you care isn't
in your arms or legs. It's in your heart, where
Christ lives the power behind the promise. Let's look at
(06:08):
where this verse comes from. The apostle Paul wrote Philippians
while sitting in a prison cell, not a basketball cheam.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
He had every reason to feel defeated.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yet instead of giving up, he writes a letter fill
with joy, hope, and this bold.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Statement, I can do all things in Christ.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
He wasn't talking about scoring points, but the principle still
applies when life gets hard, when the moment gets tough,
we can keep going because Christ gives us the strength.
That same strength Paul had is available to you today.
(07:02):
Strengthen and off the court, on the court in all
let's talk about how this plays out in a basketball tournament.
When you're tired, Christ's strengths, you run up and down
the court, pressed on defense, boxed down, die for loose balls.
(07:24):
Your lungs may feel like jelly. Your legs may feel
like jelly, your lungs burning. That's when you wis Lord,
give me strength. God can renew your focus and your energy,
not just physically.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
But mentally and emotional.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Isaiah twenty nine says He gives power to the fame
and to them that have no might. He increases strength.
God is your second win. When the pressure builds, Christ
colmes you it's the final minutes, down by two, the
(08:13):
balls in your hand. That moment can be overwhelming. But
here's the truth. God is bigger than the moment. He
doesn't just give strength a big place. He gives peace,
impress impressure. John fourteen and twenty seven says peace, I'll
(08:40):
leave with you. Peace I give unto you. Let not
your heart be troubled, neither let it be fraid. So
take the shot and don't carry the pressure alone. There
(09:01):
is more to come on here. I'm gonna go through
this section right here, and are that going to take
a quick break.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
When you win or lose. Christ, grounds you.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Basketball is about competition, but Christ, it's about character. If
you win, do it humble. If you lose, do it graciously.
Colossians three and twenty three reminds us whatever you do,
(09:39):
do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not to men.
Play hard, yes, but play for God's glory, not just scoreboard.
Right here is where we're going to take a break
to allow our sponsors to get their ads. But we
(10:07):
do have more to come on a special edition of
Some Word with the Minister Anthony Smith. And I do
pray that those who are out there on the road traveler,
(10:32):
I pray that you have say travel grace.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
To make it too and from your destinations. We're going
to take a break right here and when we come
back conclude this show. But you have the type of.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
Strength for every shot. The sundy burg A Minister and
Elizabeth A Tuesday special edition be right Back, Welcome back
(12:03):
to a special edition on a Tuesday night of the
sunbe Verb with mister Anthony Smith. Like I say, this
podcast is young people inspired, and I hope it inspires
those who listen to it. Because there are multiple teams
(12:29):
going to different tournaments.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
But as I go through my ex.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
Account, and I'm so tempted to still call it Twitter,
I can't help but to be reminded of the words
of my dad and say, all young people aren't going
to ruin. There is evidence when I look on my
what we used to know is Twitter account and see
(12:56):
how many young people are not ashamed to exemplifying Christ
and let their light and shine. I'm going to call
some more names because their names are worthy to be called.
There's Zoe Buckner Franklin. We are friends on Facebook. We
(13:22):
follow each other on x and I've seen multiple scriptures
that she have posted and highlighted, such as like Proverbs
chapter three, verse five and six, and some other verses
that she have highlighted, and some of the readings that
she posted.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
A lot of these young people are beyond their.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Age and years or however you say that there's a
MICHAELA ask you. I believe her favorite verse might be
that you're light, so shine before me and that they
may see your good works glorify your father, which is
in evidence because she is d'stily saying be the light,
be the light, and that's what we are called to do.
(14:04):
We are called to be like like to those who
are in darkness and these young people who are not
afraid to share their faith.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
I've had football.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
Players from Chini Kansas on my sports podcast and they said,
definitely it's their faith that have pulled them through a
lot of games and a lot of situations on and
off the field. So young people, continue to be your
life because y'all are lining up with what the Word said.
It says in the young shall lead them. I believe
(14:35):
that's found in the Book of Isaiah. So I want
to continue to I want to encourage the young people
keep shining your light. Don't be ashamed, because the Bible
of players. If you are ashamed to own me in
the presence of men, I would be ashamed to own you.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
In the presence of my father, which is in heaven.
Speaker 1 (14:55):
Basketball is y'all sport, but basketball is also y'all platform
to shine that light. So I'm going to encourage 'all
to continue to shine your light and be a beacon.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Of hope for those who are without hope.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Continue to be a light for those that are in darkness.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
I want to get back into.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
All right subject for the night though, which comes once
again from Philippians four and thirteen, I can do all
things price excuse me, jasline Ezel, like I said, I
hope I pronounced that name. If I didn't. When she
hears this, she will correct me. I'm just glad that
(15:47):
I could use somebody scripture and come up with the
topic to be able to share with everybody.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
In that first second, we.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
Looked at the power behind the promise, looked at the
situation where the apostle Paul wrote the Philippians while sitting
in the prison cell. But yet he was righting to
let her fill with joy, hope, and came up with the.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Bold statement I can do all things from Christ.
Speaker 1 (16:21):
He wasn't talking about scoring points, but the principle still applies. Also,
we looked at strength on and off the court, that
you know that when you're tired, Christ strengthens you. When
pressure bills, Christ calms you. John fourteen twenty seven says peace.
(16:46):
I'll leave with you my peace I give into you.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
We looked at when you win or lose, Christ surrounds you.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
That one of the key points in that was basketball
is about competition, but Christ is about character. So now
we're going to go into our next section. God is
in every place. Basketball is full of movement, dribbling, passing, shooting, defending.
(17:25):
But let me remind you God is in every motion.
When you encourage your teammate, you reflect Christ. When you
pick someone after a fall and let me add be
it your teammate or be it someone from the opposing team. Sportsmanship,
you reflect Christ. When you respect your opponents, you reflect Christ.
(17:51):
People are watching not just your game, but your witness.
Let your faith be louder than your frustration. That your
sportsmanship be stronger than your ego. Practical encouragement, the spiritual huddle.
(18:15):
Just like your team huddles before a game, take time
to huddle with God before the game. Say Lord, help
me honor you today. During the game, whisper, give me
strength After the game, whether win or lose. Pray thank
(18:36):
you for letting me play. Prayer isn't just for church.
It's for every court, locker, room, and time out. As
I get ready to conclude, you're stronger than you think. Ladies,
remember this. You don't have to be perfect. You just
(19:00):
have to play with heart and lean on Christ. Olympians
four thirteen says I can do all things through Christ,
which strengthens me. That means you can compete with courage,
you can leave with humility, you can persevere with purpose,
not because you're strong on your own, but because Christ
(19:23):
is in you. I want to give you a closing declaration,
a team chance, staff, and let's speak it together like
a team chant. The leader will say, I can do
all things. The team will say through Christ, who strengthens me,
(19:45):
the leader will say, and then say on the court
and then life, the team will say, Christ is my strength.
Let me give this to you again once again, the leader,
I can do all things. The team through Christ to me,
the leader on the court and in life, the team
(20:05):
Christ is my strength. As we get ready to close out,
I want to close us out in prayer, because prayer
is always.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
In order.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Heavenly Father, we say thank you for these young ladies,
their gifts, their hearts. As they take the court, when
they compete with the excellence, character and confidence. Give them
(20:56):
strength when they're tired, peace when the pressure comes, enjoy it,
and every moment, win or lose, let them shine for you.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
In Jesus' name. We pray.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Every sint this listening says Amen, Amen, Amen. If this
podcast has been a blessing to you. Keep in mind
(21:35):

as y'all take that court crisis with them in the

locker room of the courts. By the fact the old sings,
I used to say something, y'all go. He said, let's
take the lord of back with every job. So I
