the Many. The background passage for these scriptures will be

out of First Corinthians chapter three, verses one through twenty three.
The verses we're gonna look at s verses ten through
twenty three with a theme unity, responsibility and reverence for
God's Church. Unity, responsibility and reverence for God's Church. What

(01:48):
we're gonna do here, We're going to give you these scriptures.
I'm'a give you the King James version, and then i'm'a
go back to a old school classic to live in
Bible paraphrase. And then after I give you these scriptures,
we're going to take a brief pause to our our

(02:11):
sponsor's time to get their breaks in, and then we
will come back and break down this word. So just
take a look at the word today. I also wanted
to say thank you to some new friends. I would
call them out. They're following me on Spotify, Shelby and

(02:55):
once again. First Corinthians, chapter three, verses ten through twenty three,
and it reads dustly start from verse ten. According to
the grace of God which is given unto me as
a wise master builder. I have laid the foundation, and

(03:18):
another build it their own. But let every man take
key how he build it thereupon, for other foundation can
no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now,
if any man build up owned the foundation, gold, silver,
precious stones, wood, hay stubble, every man's work shall be

(03:43):
made manifest, for the day shall declare it, because it
shall be revealed by fire. And the fire shall try
every man's work of what sort it is. If any
man's work about which he has built their phone, he
shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned,

(04:04):
he shall suffer loss, but he himself shall be saved.
Yet so as by fire, know ye not that ye
are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of
God dwelleth in you. If any man defile the temple
of God, him shall God destroy. For the Temple of

(04:25):
God is holy, which temple ye are. Let no man
deceive himself. If any man among you seemth to be
wise in this world, let him become a fool, that
he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world
is foolishness with God. For it is written he taketh

(04:49):
the wise in their own craftiness. And again the Lord
knoweth the thoughts of the wise that are vain, that
they are. Therefore letting no man glory in men. For
all things or yours, for the paul Apollos or Cephist,

(05:10):
or the world, or life or death, or things present
or things to come, all of yours. And ye are Christ,
and Christ is God. That is the King. James version.
Now we're going to take you to the Living Bible paraphrase.

(05:42):
When I used to enjoy, my dad used to also
teach him this, and it took him some while to
look at anything other than the King James version. But
I remember those Wednesday nights see him teaching from the
King James and the battle paraphrase. So we're going back
to the same scriptures than the third chapter Strom. The

(06:04):
tenth verse says, God, in his kindness, has taught me
how to be an expert builder. I have laid the foundation,
and Apollos has built on it. But he who builds
on the foundation must be very careful, and no one
can never lay any other real foundation than that one

(06:25):
we already have Jesus Christ. But there are various kinds
of materials that can be used to build on that foundation.
Some use gold and silver and jewels, and some build
with sticks and hay or even strong. There is going
to come a time of testing at Christ's judgment day

(06:48):
to see what kind of material each builder has used.
Everyone's work will be put through the fire so that
all can see whether or not it keeps its value
and what was really accomplished. Then every workman who has
built on the foundation with the right materials and whose

(07:10):
work still stands, will get his pay. But if the
house has built burns up, he will have a great loss,
he himself will be saved. But like a man escaping
through all the flames, don't you realize verse sixteen. Don't
you realize that all of you together are the house

(07:33):
of God, and that the spirit of God lives among
you in his house. If anyone that files and spoils
God's home, God will destroy him. For God's home is
wholly and clean, and you are that home. Stop pulling yourself.

(07:55):
If you count yourself above average in intelligence as judged
by this world standards, you had better put this all
aside and be a fool rather than let it hold
you back your true wisdom from above. For the wisdom

(08:22):
of this world is foolishness to God. As it says
in the Book of Job, God uses man's own brilliance
to trap him. He stumbles over his own wisdom and faults.
And again in the Book of Songs we are told
that the Lord knows full well how the human mind reasons,

(08:46):
and how foolish and futile it is. So don't be
proud of following the wise men of this world, for
God is already giving you everything you need. He has
given you Paul and Apollos and Peter as your helpers.

(09:10):
He has given you the whole world to use in
life and even death. Are your servants. He has given
you all of the present and all of the future,
all of yours, and you belong to Christ and Christ
as God's May you be blessed by the reading, hearing
and doing a God's most holy and righteous words. So

(09:35):
what we're gonna do right here, We're going to take
a break, and when we come back, we're going to
get into our teaching for the day right here on
the Sunday Word with Minister Anthony Smith.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
M Welcome back to the Sunday Word with Minister Anthony

(10:37):
Smith on a Sunday afternoon. We're looking at the lesson
the one and the many come out of First Corinthus
chapter three, verses ten through twenty three with a themed unity, responsibility,

(10:59):
and reverence for God's Church. So in these verses, the
foundation of the church is established. For Corinthians, Chapter three,
verse ten and eleven says. In these verses, Paul emphasizes
the critical importance of building the church.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
On the correct foundation Jesus Christ. Paul identifies himself as
a wise master builder, not in arrogance, but in recognition
of his apostolic calling and the grace of God verse ten.
Yet he is clear no one can lay any other

(11:40):
foundation than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ
verse eleven. This reminder was necessary because the Corinthian believers
were dividing themselves into factions based on lordy to human leaders.
Paul Apollo's cephas, Paul redirects their focus to the only

(12:04):
foundation that can sustain the church, and that's Christ. Today,
we must be careful not to build ministries or churches
on personalities, trends, or traditions. Christ must remain the unshakable foundation. Next,

(12:31):
we must remember to building wisely on the foundation, which
is First Corinthians Chapter the three verses twelve fifteen. Now
the foundation was set in verses ten and eleven, but
now building wisely on the foundation. Having laid the foundation,

(12:55):
Paul moves on to the responsibility of how each person
builds upon it. It uses the metaphor of various building materials,
some durable gold, silver, costly stones, and some fragile wood
hay straw. The Day of Judgment will test everyone's work

(13:17):
with fire to reveal its quality. This passage is is
not about salvation, but about rewards for faithful service. If
a person's work endures, they will be rewarded. If it
is burned up, they will suffer loss, though they themselves

(13:39):
will be saved verse firteen. What Paul is emphasized near
is accountability in ministry and Christian service. Not all work
is equal in spiritual value and motives, methods and message matter.

(13:59):
Believers must examine the quality and purpose of their labor
in God's kingdom. Something to ask yourself. Are we building
w with what honors God? Or what simply pleases people?
That's something to think about. You know, it's easy to

(14:22):
say for God, I live, for God, I die. I'll
go if I have to go by myself until we
face people. So you have to ask, are we building
with what honors God? Or what simply pleases people. We

(14:44):
should have the mentality though, that I'd rather be in
trouble with people because I'm pleasing God rather than be
in trouble with God because I'm pleasing people. We move

(15:07):
on to our next outlined here. The church is God's
temple First Corinthians, chapter three, sixteen through twenty three. Paul
now gives a sobering warning the church is not just
any building. It is God's temple, and God's spirit dwells

(15:28):
within Verses sixteen. To destroy the unity and holiness of
the Church is to invite God's judgment verse seventeen. This
is a call to seriousness and reverence in how we
treat the Church and fellow believers. He then confronts human
wisdom Verses eighteen to twenty, reminding the reminding the Corinthians

(15:53):
that God's wisdom often looks like foolishness to the world.
Trying to boast in human leaders only devise the church
and limits their spiritual inheritance. Paul concludes by lifting their
eyes all things of yours and your Christ, and Christ
is God Verses twenty one twenty three. In other words,

(16:17):
the Church is sacred. We should avoid division, pride, and
selfish ambition. You know, when you look at James chapter
four asked the question from whence comes with war? Do
they not come from the desires that war within you? See,
if you don't check that you got some things in

(16:38):
you that will cause war within the body of Christ
and cause division, pride, and selfish ambition. Instead, we should
recognize the unity we share in Christ and the vast
richest of God's spiritual blessings. In closing, this lesson challenges

(17:11):
the church to build on Christ, build wisely and build
with reverence. In other words, of respect a fear, not
a fear of being timid and scared, but a fear
of respect. Though many individuals make up the body, there

(17:32):
is only one foundation, Jesus. The many must live labor
and love and light of the one who unites and
sustains them. This has been another edition of the Sunday
