Speaker 1 (00:45):
Today own the Sunday Word, Minister Anthony Smith, the Monday edition.
I want to bring your attention to Psalms one ten
versus one and two as we will attempt to dive

(01:06):
into what is going on before our eyes with the
war between Iran and Israel. And yes, I know there
is some involvement with the US Army as well too.
I am aware of that, but I wanna look at
how it actually lines up with the Word of God.

(01:33):
Because in our carnal mind, it's easy for us to
look at the things that are of carnality are of
the human mind. M and oftentimes we forsake the spiritual
side of it, or we fail to realize the spiritual

(01:54):
side of it. And we know that the scripture also
says that the spirit doesn't dwell with being at all times.
So in actuality, we are acting in our natural, humanistic
sense and looking at things from a humanistic standpoint, and

(02:17):
we often miss the spiritual side of it. But we're
going to bring up the scripture here and I will
be coming from the NV translation and it reads us
thee the Lord says t to my Lord, sit at

(02:41):
my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool
for your feet. The Lord will extend your mighty scepter
from Zion, saying rule in the midst of your enemies.
That's something right there within the self, rule in the
missed of your enemies. I'm pretty sure that right there

(03:12):
within itself has got your attention, because in most cases,
when we are in the presence of not our enemy,
but our enemies, and there were some characters in the

(03:35):
Bible that did that as well too, so that's just natural.
In the face of our enemies, we have a tendency
to want to retreat, run, go back. The opposite way,
speaking of the children of Israel. They were promised a land,

(04:00):
but instead of trusting God to go and take the land,
they sent out spies to go survey, and their report was,
those are giants out there, and we look like ants
compared to them. There's no way we can overtake that land,

(04:23):
not realizing that if God tells you to do something,
he has already made a way for you to be successful.
All you have to do is just be like Nike
and do it. I am right now pulling up the
King James version of that said scripture, and we're going

(04:47):
to get into this word here, because I am a
King James person. Nothing against the NIV, but I was
brought up on King James, and I do have other
translations and versions, but when it's all said and done,

(05:11):
I usually go to the King James version. So y'all
just bear with me, because I am actually pulling this up,
and I'm actually using a Bible and not a smart device,
and it reads ustly, and the King James version says,

(05:33):
the Lord said, into my Lord, sit down at my
right hand until I make dying enemies thy footstool. The
Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of
Zion ruled out in the midst of dye enemies. To

(05:54):
start things off, Sending the rod is a way of
promising and ever increasing kingdom. The figure being addressed will
have many supporters, willing volunteers to go with him into battle.
Their comparison to Mourning and Douke implies freshness, youth, strength,

(06:17):
and significant numbers. Now that right there, explain verses two
and three, because verse three says, thy people shall be
willing in the day of thy power and the beauties
of holiness from the womb of the morning. Thou hast
the do of thy youth. But we're going to center

(06:39):
on verses one and two. The key team in Psalms
one to ten Verses one and two is divine authority.
In kingship, God appoints a figure often understood as the
Messiah to sit as a right hand victory over enemies.

(07:04):
God promises to extend the ruler's authority and subjugate enemies,
making them a footstool rulermist opposition. The ruler is described
as reigning in the midst of your enemies, implying ongoing
conflict but eventual divine victory. So how does this relate

(07:30):
to Israel Iran tensions. First of all, there's divine sovereignty
over nations. The Psalm emphasizes that God has ultimate controlled
over geopolitical including the rise and fall of nations. Now,
underlying that part right there, the Psalm emphasizes that God

(07:54):
has ultimate control over geopolitics. I know some you look
at TV ministries and I happen to catch a glimpse
of a guy by the name of Mike Murdoch, and
some of y'all know he is very famous for saying, well,
if God is in control, where is yet when the
woman was getting raped, and you know, when the store

(08:16):
was getting burglarized, and you know, he said, how how
was God in control? God is always in control. And
the reason I know he's in control because I have
the word of God to back up the fact that
He is in control. Regardless of what's going on around us.
God is still in control. He sits side, he looks low,

(08:40):
the same guy that knows every strand of hairing your head.
That's how I know he's in control. In the context
of Israel and Iran, it underscores that divine authority proceeds
and underpins earthly events. Conflicts are part of a larger

(09:08):
divine plan that ultimately involves God's sovereignty over nations, the
expectation of divine victory and justice. The imagery of making
enemies a footstool signifies divine victory over opposition. For Israel,

(09:30):
this could symbolize hope that God will bring about justice
and victory over adversaries for the military, ideological, or spiritual
who threaten her security in sovereignty rule in the midst
of enemies, the phrase suggests that God's rule persists even

(09:52):
amid opposition. For Israel and its supporters, this can be
a source of faith that, despite ongoing in conflicts with Iran,
God's purpose and protection remains intact. That protection could be
the fact that and here's where it may get a
little bit hard to comprehend, a grasp because here in America,

(10:17):
we're dealing with what some people would call a man
who wants to be a dictator, some would label him
as wanting to be a tyrant, and he may show
some of those traits. Talking about none other than our
President Donald J. Trump, I've even had this conversation with
my wife, and I'm not gonna give you the full

(10:38):
extent of it. But what I told her is there
are some things that Donald Trump is doing that he
don't realize. He's playing right into God's hand one by
protecting Israel. Secondly, he hasn't get away with i religious freedoms.

(11:02):
Even though there are some groups, like there's a group
i'm'a call them out by name called Freedom from Religion
that want to censor our right to express our religious freedoms,
donald Trump hasn't done that. As a body of people,
we should be applauding and thinking God that he hasn't

(11:24):
done that. And anybody that knows anything about the history
of Israel and God and knowing that Israel is God's
chosen shouldn't understand that there will always be someone to
protect Israel in the midst of their enemies and their adversaries.

(11:49):
And whether Donald Trump realizes what he's doing or not,
at this moment, he's a part of God's plan. I
know for some that's a hard pill to swallow, but
that's the reality of it. Some people label Trump as

(12:11):
the Antichrist, some people label him as a devil, but
right now he is playing into God's hand by being
the one that is standing up as a protector for Israel.
Another thing that we haven't realize, especially if you don't

(12:33):
watch certain channels, is in Iran, there are some people
that are actually applauding the fact that these strikes have
taken place because unlike here in America, where we can
express our religious freedoms openly, in Iran they have underground
religious liberties. In other words, they are praying that that

(12:59):
current regime bed were taken so that they can boldly
express their love for the risen Savior, Jesus the Christ.
So once again, for israel IT supporters, this can be
a source of faith that, despite ongoing conflicts with Iran,

(13:20):
God's purpose and protection remains intact eschatological and messianic hope.
Many interpret Psalms one tend as a messianic pointing to
a future divine ruler who will establish perfect justice in

(13:40):
the current geopolitical context, Some see this as a reminder
that God's ultimate plan involves the establishment of divine justice,
which may include the resolution of conflicts like the Israel
Iran tensions. What I'm going to do is take a

(14:03):
break right here, and when I come back, we're going
to look at the look at theological What can we
derive right here on The Sunday Word with Minister Anthony Smith.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
We welcome you back once again to The Sunday Word
with Minister Anthony Smith on a Monday, so I will
tab this as the Monday edition. The reason I wouldn't
with you guys on Sunday, let's just say I had
up medical emergency and I'm still dealing with it. Some

(15:04):
of you may recall that I recently had an ICD
defibrillator and planet back on June the eleventh, and on
Saturday night, I alone my wife, We went to the
emergency room and they kept me in the hospital there
until about a little after two o'clock. And due to

(15:30):
the fact that my incision site where they placed the
device is bleeding, spent all day at the hospital yesterday,
from Saturday night about eleven o'clock until two o'clock when
they released me, only to wake up this morning to
find that my dressing is full of blood. So I
went to the Epic Heart Center where they installed the device,

(15:53):
and the nurse there she got in contact with the doctor.
So later on this afternoon, I will be going to
my cardiologists, and I want to say publicly to those
that listen to this podcast, and I'm pretty sure my wife,
I wanna say thank God for my wife. She will
be taking off and get me to the appointment. To me,

(16:15):
I don't think that this is normal. Uh, but I
know those you are listening, prayers are already going up
as you get to hear this podcast. So what I
want to say in advance, I appreciate your prayers because
I don't know what's going on, but I know that
this is not normal. I don't wanna speculate what it
is and think the worst, but I also want to

(16:37):
be real. It could be a vein, it could be
something from one of the leads that they put in
at maybe a vein may have rupture. But whatever the
case is, we gonna put this in God's hand and
let them work it out. And whatever the doctor the
cardiologists say in whatever direction we take that everything is

(16:59):
in God's plan. And that this will be rectified. And
I ask for your continued prayers. But we're gonna get
back into this word here because I know a lot
of people are keeping an eye on what's going on
with the conflict between Israel and Iran, and how America's

(17:19):
involvement is kind of shaped things, and how the other
countries are looking at this. We read into a lot
of things that the media say, but we need to
read into what the Word of God is saying. So theologically,
what can we derive from this. Well, God's sovereignty regardless

(17:40):
of the turmoil. Believers can trust that God remains sovereign
over nations and conflicts. There's a word that says like this, Lo,
I'm with you always, even until the end of time.
In other words, God will never leave us nor forsake us.

(18:02):
We have to believe. You know, some people I've heard
say God is using us as a way to try
to get our attention. I just want to put a
pen right there. God doesn't try to do anything, He

(18:25):
just does it. We as believers need to try to
understand what it is God has shown us. And we
have no excuse because the Bible will declares out of
all thy getting to get a good understanding theologically, what

(18:47):
else can we derive from the situation? Hope for divine intervention.
The psalm encourages hope that God will intervene to establish
his rule and bring about victory over enemies. And when
you look throughout biblical history, when the walls Jericho came

(19:09):
tumbling down, he had instructed the children what to do,
and they marched as they were instructed, and the walls
came tumbling down. When you do what God says do,
you can expect a victorious outcome, regardless of how bleak

(19:33):
it looks. You can expect victory theologically. What else can
we derive from this? A call for righteousness. It reminds
believers to seek justice and righteousness, trusting that God's kingdom
will ultimately prevail. So what are some of the caveats

(19:57):
of this? The Psalm is often interpret that messianically with
in Christian theology, pointing to Jesus Christ as the divine
ruler in a geopolitical sense. It's a poetic and prophetic
image of divine authority, not a literal promise of specific

(20:19):
military outcomes. To summarize this, Psalms one ten verses one
and two, with its themes of divine authority, victory over enemies,
and ruling a mist opposition, offers a theological lens through
which to view ongoing conflicts like Israel and Iran. It

(20:41):
underscores the belief that God is ultimately in control and
his justice, not our justice, not the justice of the
judge that we play so much confidence in that the
judge and make the right decision, but His justice, God's
justice and sovereignty will prevail even a miss current turmoil.

(21:12):
See we as Christians, I'm gonna add this need to
get out of the mindset that we're gonna be on
a flowery bed of ease because we are Christians. No
Jesus Christ himself even gave us the warning when he said,
if they did it unto me, they would do it

(21:33):
unto the least of thee. We are definitely the least
of thee. But if Christs had to go through it,
let me put it to you in terms that I
hope that we understand. Because somewhere along the way, whether
it came from listening to prosperity messages or whatever the

(21:57):
case may be, we have gotten in the minds that
as Christians we're not supposed to have no conflict, go
through turmoil. But Jesus Christ, the one who was sinless,
who took on a debt that he didn't owe, and

(22:20):
pay the debt that we couldn't pay. Once again, I
go back to this, he says, if they'd done it
unto me, they will do it unto the least of thee.
What we want, though, is we won't the glory, but

(22:41):
we don't want to go through the struggle as a Christian.
We're going to suffer persecution, We're gonnassert We're gonna suffer ridicule,
We're gonna suffer being lied on and talked about. But
I believe it was in Matthew chapter twelve. He says,

(23:02):
blessed are ye when men shall revalue and say all
manners of evil against you falsely for my sake, he says,
for great And I know we have a hard time
with this part, but the Bible says it. This is

(23:23):
not Anthony Smith talk. This is Bible talk. Bible says,
great is your reward, for so were the prophets before
you persecute it. In other words, they went through it.
And what Christ went through compared to what we go through.

(23:45):
What we go through is not a specting the bucket.
But He went through what he went through for us
so that we wouldn't have to go through that. But
we are gonna have to go through some things in
order to get to the glory. But I can do

(24:08):
all things through Christ. That gives me strength. That's my hope.
So in the midst of turmoil and in the midst
of conflict, hold on to God's unchanging hand, for he
will see you through. I want to say thank you

(24:34):
for tuning into the Sunday work with Minister Anthony Smith
once again, keep me in prayer that whatever the doctor
may find out, that we can get this situation resolved.
Once again, thank God for my beautiful wife, because I'm
telling you right now, right now, i don't know what

(24:55):
I would do without her, And maybe I don't pressed
this enough, but I'm pretty sure she will hear this
as well too. I believe that I'm more blessed to
have her than she's blessed to have me. But whatever

(25:17):
this situation is that I'm going through, this too shall
pass until the next time. Be blessed, Be a blessing
