Trump Backs Hegseth: Media Clash Sparks White House Defense | June 27, 2025 | Hour 2

In a Truth Social post, President Trump leapt to the defense of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth after critics accused Hegseth of “berating” reporters during Thursday’s fiery Pentagon briefing. Trump dismissed the backlash as “manufactured outrage,” calling the press conference “one of the most professional and disciplined briefings I’ve ever seen.” He praised Hegseth for “telling the truth without fear” and argued that the secretary’s direct tone was necessary to counter what he described as the media’s “relentless spin” about the Iran strikes.  

The president also reiterated his full confidence in the Pentagon’s strategy, saying the operation had been “executed flawlessly to keep America and our allies safe.” Trump’s post quickly drew both applause from supporters—who echoed his claims of media bias—and condemnation from journalists’ advocates, who said the remarks reinforced a dangerous hostility toward a free press.
