Welcome to the X Zone.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Hi, thank you, it's nice to be here.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I'm excited nice having you with us. Catherine, tell us
a little bit about yourself and what brought you into
investigating the strange, the weird, the haunted, the ghostly, as
well as things that called bump in the night.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
I think it all started when I was a child,
and I had parents that I think encouraged it because
I grew up in a Catholic household, so there's the
belief of good and evil, angels, demons, that sort of thing.
(03:14):
So it was kind of like just a part of
life and I just but I just wanted more. I
wanted to find out what are these?
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Who is this? You know, what what is going on?
I wanted answers.
Speaker 5 (03:29):
So so yeah, it all started when I was a
child and finally I got to put my dream in
you know, in play and been doing this for for
going on.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Well this is our seventeenth year.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
Wow. What was your first encounter with the paranormal?
Speaker 5 (03:50):
I would have to say it was actually at my
parents' home. We it was just something there was always
something going on in the home. Did not know what
it was, but it was like this thing that kind
of kind of lived behind the record player.
Speaker 2 (04:13):
Oh yeah, and.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
You could actually you couldn't really see it because you
could see it in your mind and it impacted you know,
my brothers and sisters, and they could see it. I
could not see it, but they were very terrified of it,
and so I had to I had.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
To find out. Never did find out, by the way, but.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
But you tried. And I think that's the main the
main thing that when it comes to the paranormal, that
people who are inquisitive have the desire to find out,
and I believe that is half the battle.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Yes, definitely, don't.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
I don't know of any children out there who have
never you know, they've been afraid about the monster in
the clase that are the monster under the bed. So
why do you think that more there are some people
that are more in tune with the paranormal than others.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
I think it just has to do with probably your
lack of fear and your curiosity level. And I like,
I'm more of a.
Speaker 5 (05:22):
Factual based person, So I want to know the facts.
I mean, I want I don't like, if somebody tells
me something, let's just say, you know, they saw.
Speaker 1 (05:35):
You know, a ghost in their home right, and a
lot of people do.
Speaker 5 (05:40):
I have to I have to investigate it, Like, let's
find out if that's really what it is. It could
be something else, it could be something we can explain.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
So, yeah, how haunted is Denver?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
It's pretty haunted.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Why would you say that? Is it because it's history
or is it just because it's near the Rockies? It
could be a lay line, it could be of a
geomagnetic field. What do you think it is?
Speaker 5 (06:10):
I I've done a lot of research in the state
of Colorado itself, and it has a volatile history, and
I'm thinking, you know, just the world in general, I mean,
We're not the first ones here. So this Colorado itself
(06:31):
has a lot of volatile history, and so you know,
you're as time goes on, you build on top of it.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, I would imagine. So, yeah, what has been your
most interesting case as the member of the Denver Paranormal
Research Society, Catherine.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
I would have to say.
Speaker 5 (06:52):
An animal hospital that we investigated has been our most
interesting because.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
We had to do.
Speaker 5 (07:01):
I want to say, about four investigations four five to
try to get to the bottom of it. And what
started out as the two of the workers there got
chased outside by an entity as they were closing up
for the night. They reached out to us, and so
(07:24):
what started out is that we did the first investigation
and we started like uncovering a lot more that was
going on. We never came face to face with that entity,
but it was it was the pounding on the that
(07:45):
were that was coming from the ceilings, that just just.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
A lot of sounds.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
As far as there was, there was a lot more
going on there.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
It was we we did. We did chalk it up.
Speaker 5 (08:02):
To being like a residual haunting, but there was more
going on there as well. We you know, with the
use of our of our tools communication tools.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
We had found out that there was more than than one.
I'm going to use the term uh spirit just for
the sake of this call.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
So how what how did you implement the investigation? What
tools did you use during this investigation?
Speaker 5 (08:34):
So we used, uh, we have a couple of spirit boxes.
We use MF readers, cameras, motion detectors. We'll use anything
from like a candle to toys like hot wheels, tracks,
a ball, wind chimes. So we had cameras set.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Up everywhere it was.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
It was two levels, so we had cameras on the
top level and the bottom level as well.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
What were the hot wheels tracks for?
Speaker 5 (09:08):
So you put you you set that up kind of
like at an angle, and you're hoping that one of
the spirit visitors would kind of like tap it and
then make the little cargo down or so anything even
it's like the ball, you want to put the ball
(09:29):
right there, and you always have a camera facing everything
that you want to capture.
Speaker 2 (09:35):
So something is so something that would show that there
is activity in that location that it s could not
have been done by anyone else except who or whatever
is there?
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Correct?
Speaker 2 (09:47):
Gotcha? Now, the fact that this was a former or
an existing veterinary clinic where I'm sure animals are euthanized
and that's the hardest part about being an animal owner.
Do you think that this had a play in what
was going on?
Speaker 1 (10:05):
That can very well be it.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
We had we just had some weird stuff and I
think we did hear some cats crying and there were
no cats there right, not physically.
Speaker 3 (10:21):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
The only one that was there was housed.
Speaker 5 (10:24):
It was part of the veterinary hospital itself, and it
was put in a room to keep quiet. But we
did hear things like that, so that could very well be.
Speaker 2 (10:36):
Yeah, how did you finally come to a successful conclusion
of this investigation?
Speaker 5 (10:44):
Well, we I did a lot of research. I went
to their local library, their their local history museum to
figure out what what if it's if we could not
figure out what what was making.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
The loud banging sounds.
Speaker 5 (11:03):
We did check with roofers, we did check with the
heating and air conditioning company, so we had to it
was a process of elimination. So when we couldn't figure out, okay,
that could not be causing it, you know, the the
ceiling itself, the heating and the air when it kicked on,
(11:25):
you know, because we did several investigations with it on
and then with it off. So it was the fact
that when we did all the research and found that
it was sitting actually.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
On top of old mining.
Speaker 5 (11:42):
Grounds, okay, And so it was our conclusion that it
was just a high possibility that this was a residual
haunting and what we were hearing all that banging sounds
did come from you know, the the.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
The miters back back in the days, you know. But
if it was, it's I'm sorry, but.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
If the veterinarian clinic was built on top of the mine,
and if the mine was haunted, wouldn't the sun be
coming from beneath and not above?
Speaker 5 (12:24):
Well, I mean you would think, yeah, you know, but
you know, nothing is an exact science.
Speaker 2 (12:30):
Isn't that the truth?
Speaker 5 (12:31):
Yeah, the paranormal it's it's very odd.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yeah, Catherine, please stand by you and I have to
take our first break, and the Excellnation, our guess this
hour is Catherine. She's with the Denver Paranormal Society. And

And welcome back back to Gordon Lightfoot, Ghosts of Cape
Horn And this is the ooks own on your hometown
Radio Classic twelve twenty and streaming Classic twelve twenty dot.
Ca Catherine is our special guest and she's with the
Denver Paranormal Society and their website is Paranormal Oops, no
it's not, it's Denver Paranormal dot Com. Sorry about that, Catherine, Catherine.
(14:48):
What are the factors when somebody contacts you and the
group as to whether or not you accept or decline
the investigation.
Speaker 5 (14:59):
That's that's a really good question. So when someone reaches
out to us saying that they have paranormal activity in
their home, something you know, terrible or scary, I will,
you know, call them back and have a very long
(15:20):
talk with them. I want to hear their story. I
want to hear what's going on. And it's very important
because I'm looking for different clues when they tell me
their stories, and the clues meaning what sets them aside
from regular paranormal activity versus maybe something that's really bad.
(15:43):
And if it is something that I feel is really bad,
I will not put us in that situation because we're
not trained to deal with something that might be a
the maybe the demonic area.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
So I just listened to their story, and I have
to say that.
Speaker 5 (16:07):
Out of all these years that you know that we've
been doing this, I want to say that ninety nine
percent of the time, it's just your basic paranormal activity.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
If it's that, now, it's it's very different.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
Paranormal that the paranormal world is very very diverse anyway,
It's it's very complicated because people don't just you know,
come calling and say, oh, I have a ghost of
my home. No, they it could be something.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
That you could explain away very easily.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
So when they come calling, it's I want to listen
to the facts.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I want to listen to what's going on.
Speaker 5 (16:50):
So I want to listen to how many times is
it happening, and what is happening, and who is it
happening to, because those of those are very important because
if only one person is being affected, then I have
to just take kind of like a different path on that. Now,
if the whole household are experiencing something different as far
(17:16):
as you know, seeing shadows maybe in the upstairs and
then you know they're they're being tapped on the head,
you know, downstairs or whatever, that's that's different.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
But if it's one.
Speaker 5 (17:32):
Person who's only experiencing it, but no one else in
the home is experiencing it, then I'm going to lean
more towards I think it might there might be more
of an issue with the one person, so there might
be other things going on with the person, not necessarily paranormal.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
I have to take issue with something that you said.
You're you're a paranormal investigation team, But when somebody calls
you and they're reaching out to you for your help
and your expertise. Yes, why is it that there are
cases you take and cases you don't take? And how
do you scrutinize because you yourself said that the paranormal is
(18:18):
very strange, you know, so how do you justify it
by saying, even this one person who's having a paranormal
event within that house, they are not in fact having
a true paranormal event. Or that lady who calls up
and who calls you for help and you believe there's
(18:39):
something demonic, what do you do with them? Do you
just kind of leave them hanging up and saying, well,
you know, we can't help you, or what do you do?
They're calling they're calling it. Yeah, they're calling you guys
for help.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Sure.
Speaker 5 (18:51):
Back back to the first question, so any any Well,
if when I listen to the story and you know,
it fits all the criteria of okay, there's there's a
possibility that there is something going on, it's obviously.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Real to them. So we do make a visit it.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
When we make a visit, that's when we we get
to meet the people in person, We get to look around,
we get to talk to them a little bit further
because the paranormal is not just people think it's.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Just about paranormal, and it's not.
Speaker 5 (19:30):
It's about the people. So and what I mean by
that is that people could be having a lot of
drama in their house. They could be maybe taking some
sort of prescription of prescribed type medicines, or.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
They could be taking unless at drugs, that could be
taking alcohol. There's a lot of different reasons. So how
do you when you go to the house, how do
you Is there an intake form? Is there an intake
a group of questions that you ask?
Speaker 5 (20:06):
Yes, it's at first we used to you know, have
them fill out you know, the form and so forth.
But now you know, we just we kind of know
what questions to ask. But we're also I mean.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
I also do study people.
Speaker 5 (20:20):
I mean I'm looking at them, I'm looking at their home.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
I'm looking I want.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
To know, Like I mean, you can you could just
tell if you know, if something is just a miss
somewhere and if we can't help them because maybe I mean,
I'm not going to call somebody out on if they.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Have, you know, a problem with you know, alcohol or drugs.
I'm not going to call them out on that.
Speaker 5 (20:53):
But I will tell them that you know, we cannot
help them because they're their experiences are not as credible.
It could because if you take any type of prescribed
medicine or even non prescribed you know, drugs, alcohol, whatever
(21:14):
that's going to that can cause you, you know, to
see have hallucinations or you know, a multitude of things.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
Don't take this, don't take this question wrong. But sure,
where do you get your qualification to make that judgment?
Speaker 1 (21:32):
I don't have That's the thing.
Speaker 5 (21:34):
I do not have the qualifications, but I have the
experience because back you know, seventeen years ago, we took everybody.
We took every single case that came through, and that
is how you learn. We put ourselves in some very
uncomfortable positions and naturally, you know, we can't. Again, it
(21:58):
all comes down to say, but it also comes down
to if we truly believe that there might be something there,
and I mean it's it is a fine line. But no,
we don't have those qualifications. I'm not a psychologist, I'm
not a doctor a sort. But it's it's all about
(22:21):
credibility too.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
We have.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Doing this takes a lot of time, It takes a
lot of effort, takes a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (22:30):
And if we happen to you know, appear at a
home and.
Speaker 5 (22:38):
Their partying, you know, and they're having all this party
so forth, it's wasting a lot.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Of our time.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Right, has that ever happened to you or you've gone
to do an investigation and people are having a party?
Speaker 1 (22:52):
Yeah, it has?
Speaker 2 (22:53):
How many times?
Speaker 1 (22:55):
A few times? A few times?
Speaker 2 (22:58):
So based on what happened in a few times, does
that impair your judgment when you know, looking at other
cases because you feel it might be a party time
that they're looking for and when in actual in actuality,
they're looking to you for help.
Speaker 1 (23:14):
Well, we do. We change our procedures.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
We have changed our procedures as far as we you know,
when we set up the appointment to actually do the
investigation is you know, we let them know that, you know,
please refrain from using any type of you know, stimulants
while we do the investigation.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
How many members How many members are there of the
Denver Paranormal Research Society?
Speaker 1 (23:43):
Well, right now there's three.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
And do you each have a specific role when you
go to do an investigation?
Speaker 1 (23:52):
Yeah, we we do. So we have one person who
is like our intern.
Speaker 5 (23:57):
He's in training and so he right now is learning
how to use the equipment. So his name is Charles,
and he does a phenomenal job on you know, taking pictures.
He takes pictures of the inside of the outside. And
then he also has a me or so he's in training.
(24:18):
He uses the same equipment that we use. But bo
he's also another person on the team as well, and he,
you know, he's more of the empathetic type of person,
gets to know the people. And when we do the
spirit box sessions, he's the one who conducts them because
(24:42):
of his you know, personality to connect and and I'm
basically your your analysis type person. So after al is
said and done, I'm the one that does all the
analysis on everything that we have done. And I set
up the report to provide to the person to the people.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
And how long after the investigation takes place is the
analysis done? And how long does it take for the
client to get the report?
Speaker 5 (25:17):
I always tell them about two weeks. Give us about
two weeks because it's a pretty intense, you know, it's
pretty intense to evaluate everything.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
You and I have to take our break for the
bottom of the hour. Catherine, please stand by an ext
o nation. I guess this hour is Katherine and she

Speaker 4 (27:41):
Then climb on your face, no matter house future.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
And welcome back everyone. Catherine from the Denver Paranormal Research
Society is with us and their website is Denver Paranormal
dot com. Catherine, before you were talking about how you
conduct the investigation, you mentioned something about a spirit box.
Can you describe to our listeners what a spirit box is.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
The spirit boxes that we use are our little radios
that actually they they cycle through channels, through radio channels,
and the theory behind that is that the spirits can
(28:25):
manipulate those frequencies to relay the messages, and that is
that is what we highly rely on.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Now, what kind of messages would you get from the
other side using these spirit boxes? Do you have to
ask them questions?
Speaker 5 (28:43):
So, yes, we have like a series of ten questions
that are related to the case.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
And what we do is we we don't.
Speaker 5 (28:53):
Just use the spirit box, but we'll use those same
questions by using like the EMF reader one of our crystals,
and then of course the spirit box and the messages
that we do get, we get a lot of yes
and no answers, and sometimes we do get like three
(29:17):
or four words uh answers. So it's it's a very
fascinating type of communication tool to use because we don't
know actually who is answering because sometimes those the spirits
(29:38):
come through might have messages for for say like myself
or say like for bo. So it's it's they use
that tool as a way to oh, okay, this is
this is the time to communicate.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
It's not so common that they do that, but.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
But you have to expect that got here and that's
called a spirit box. Do you people also do EVPs?
Speaker 5 (30:06):
Yes, we also have our recorders with us and we
record everything from the time that we step in the
door until the time that we leave, and.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
We also.
Speaker 5 (30:22):
We will listen to those recorders very very intently throughout
the whole time that we are at a place.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
So you listen to the recording as is being done
while you're at the location that you're investigating. No, that
would be afterwards, okay.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
Yes, And what we're looking for, I'm sorry, what we're
looking for is disembodied voices, voices that are not you know,
known people in the room. And of course we listen
very intently when we have to go back and listen
to the sphere box because that's when you will actually
hear those voices come through. It's kind of rare to
(31:09):
actually hear them at the time that you are there.
You can hear them sometimes, but it's better to get
it on the recording.
Speaker 2 (31:18):
What has been your most gratifying or most satisfying investigation
that you and your team have done?
Speaker 1 (31:26):
I would you know, I love doing them all. They're
all really great.
Speaker 5 (31:36):
But I would have to say probably that Animal hospital
was the most gratifying because we got a chance to
actually conduct several I think, like I said, like four
investigations over a year's time, and we got to take
our time on it and actually try to figure out,
you know, get some answers for the people that work there.
Speaker 1 (31:59):
And it was it was it was great. It was great.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Where is the most haunted place in Denver.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
That's a good question.
Speaker 2 (32:20):
In your opinions.
Speaker 1 (32:21):
In well, in my opinion, I think, yh.
Speaker 5 (32:27):
You know, I mean, I would say in Colorado, the
Stanley Hotel is actually very well known for paranormal activity.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
And have you and your team gone there?
Speaker 6 (32:43):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Yes, And what was it like?
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Well, I think when they see me coming, they take off.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
So are you talking about your team or are you're
talking about spirits?
Speaker 1 (32:57):
Yeah, both of the spirits. I think they see me
because I am like so you.
Speaker 5 (33:05):
Know, ambitious as to try to find them, and I
think they take off. But you know, we've had a
lot of success with you know, previous team members that
have been with us, and then also you know attending
I attend a lot of the conferences there and we
get to do like EVP sessions with you know, some
(33:28):
of the more well known people.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
You know in the business, and it's it's quite fascinating.
Speaker 5 (33:36):
They use mediums and so when mediums are involved, you know,
you tend to get a little bit more of that
communication going.
Speaker 1 (33:44):
So it's it's fun.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
Let me ask you, Let me ask you this. Why
do ghosts and spirits stick around places like the Stanley
hotel if paranormal investigators are always interrupting.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
Them, right, that's a good question.
Speaker 5 (34:08):
I mean I've read that. You know, Stanley Hotel, you know,
has a lot of activity because of the limestone that
it's built nearby. But you know, I I don't know
about other places.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
You know. I can't speak up half of them.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
Yeah, you know, I'd be a lousy ghost. I really would,
because I'd say, all right, pack up your bags, Laura,
there's too many people here, let's go somewhere else.
Speaker 5 (34:39):
I think that's what Honestly, I think that that's what they.
Speaker 1 (34:44):
Do a lot in your basic home, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
But in your cases, Oh, here comes Cara, Here comes Catherine.
Let's go. She's really ambitious and she's not going to
stop turning over every piece of furnerture till she finds us.
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
That's right. I just I need to know and I
want to know. So yeah, I've been told that, you know,
we because we do.
Speaker 5 (35:10):
We have worked with certain mediums in the past, right,
and they have said, you know, they see you coming.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Dumb, that I'm dumb. Here comes Catherine, dumb. Then I'm dumb, dumb.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
Oh no, yes, but there are a lot that do
like me, and they do hang around.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Well, that's good. That's good. Nobody wants to be an outcast, right,
especially by spirits. How will you react? This is a
hypothetical question. Okay, how would you react if you encountered
a spirit face to face?
Speaker 5 (35:51):
I would probably be scared. Honestly, I did see an
apparition one time, and and I was glad I got
to see it because it gave me, uh it gave
me more insight as to what the people that contact
us are feeling, because I lose sight of that and
(36:16):
so I have to encounter something like that to remind
myself that it is scary, it really is.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
What was the appression, like, can you tell us a
little bit about the experience.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Yes, I was in a in a friend's home.
Speaker 5 (36:31):
I was in the basement and I was I was
just working on my laptop and when I looked up
towards the basement, you know, in front of me, it
was a It looked like a female. It was your
like a typical apparition that people would describe just floating
(36:51):
by just walking. But you know, of course it wasn't walking,
but you could see it, and it happens so fast.
Even though it's slow, Oh, it's still fast. So I
got up and I followed. I tried to follow it.
Of course it was already gone, but it did scare me.
(37:13):
So when I looked around the corner to the stairs
going looking up the stairway, there was the uh there
was a dog sitting in there at the top of
the stairway, just just looking down. And I turned around
and I came back, and I thought, you know what,
I would not want to encounter that when it's dark.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
This was not during the night, this was during the day.
Speaker 2 (37:39):
Was there any paranormal activity before you went there?
Speaker 1 (37:45):
No?
Speaker 2 (37:45):
No, Is it possible you brought something with you, that's
something attached itself to you.
Speaker 1 (37:51):
You know, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (37:53):
I I know I know for a fact that doing
this type of business, I have brought things.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
Home with me.
Speaker 2 (38:04):
Yeah. I used to do that too, but morow I've
said I couldn't bring any more her friends home with me.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Yeah, it's a lot of things.
Speaker 5 (38:13):
And it again, I need those type of things to
remind me of what people are experiencing, because it's scary
when you first see something or experience.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Something like that.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Now, the fact that there had not been any paranormal
activity prior to you having this experience with the apparition.
Has there been any paranormal activity since then.
Speaker 1 (38:39):
In that one home? We Yeah, my friend has moved
out since then. Wow, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
Yeah, all right, you and I have to take our

Speaker 4 (40:17):
Do you believe it's magic? Mediol Girl's heart? How the
music in free whenever it starts.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
And it's magic. If the music is booming, it makes
you feel happy like.
Speaker 6 (40:44):
Ho it's magic, you know, never believe it's that. It's
the logic, you know.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Explanation Welcome back to Catherine from the Denver Colorado Research
Society is our special guest this hour. And first of all,
Karen Catherine, thanks very much for joining us. Great having
you with us, and please give my very best to
the other members of your team. Now, thank you. How
do you and the members of your team protect yourself?
We were kidding around before the break about, you know,
(41:38):
bringing spirits or attachments home with you. How do you
protect yourself from actually having attachments join you and or
protect you throughout your investigation.
Speaker 1 (41:49):
Right, good question.
Speaker 5 (41:53):
So to each person it is you know personal and
I know for myself, I like.
Speaker 1 (42:00):
To use holy water bowl, likes to use.
Speaker 5 (42:04):
Like like amethyst stones, and our intern likes to use uh,
he will use a rosary. So it's all unique and
personal to each person based on you know, what they
believe and you know so and so far, so good
(42:27):
for now. I mean back in the early days, it
was not like that. But we have learned a lot
since then.
Speaker 2 (42:33):
So what was it like in the early days?
Speaker 3 (42:36):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (42:37):
Back in the early days, I was very careless because
you know, I did not have a whole lot of
belief that you know, things were out there. So I
didn't use anything for any type of protection. And I
brought a lot of things home with me. And it
wasn't until those lessons you know, of things coming home
(42:59):
with me that I learned I better take this serious.
This is not something you want to play with. Sure,
this is for real and it's out there.
Speaker 2 (43:07):
So what would happen when you would bring these attachments
home with you? What kind of mischievous trouble would they get?
Speaker 5 (43:13):
Into well, I had a shadow person stay there at
my house for about a week. I want to say
I saw him three times. There were loud bangs on
the wall. There were a lot of flies in my bedroom.
There was like thousands of flies one day, just appearing
(43:37):
out of nowhere.
Speaker 2 (43:39):
Thousands of flies. Oh, yes, that must want something.
Speaker 5 (43:42):
To see m And then also we we got cursed
by Robert the Doll.
Speaker 1 (43:52):
If anyone's familiar with Robert the Doll, and.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
Well share with our audience who Robert the Doll is.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Robert the Doll is. He's a haunted doll.
Speaker 5 (44:02):
He was back I believe in the Either Lady eighteen
hundreds early nineteen hundreds, where he's a doll that stands
probably about maybe two feet tall, and he was made
for this little boy of this family, this rich family,
and it was made I believe by the nanny.
Speaker 1 (44:20):
She made this doll for him and she would take
care of him.
Speaker 5 (44:25):
The story goes, I think that she got upset with
the family and she put a curse on the doll.
So now the doll, I believe, resides in the museum
over at Key West and you have to ask to
take his picture and they give you a meter, and
if the meter goes in the red, that means no,
(44:48):
and if it doesn't do anything all, you can take
a picture. Well, in our investigations, it's opposite. If the
meter goes red, that means yes. And so so I
just you know, not thinking correctly. When I asked to
take his picture when we were in Key West, it
(45:08):
went in the red, which meant no. And I was
taking all kinds of pictures of him.
Speaker 1 (45:14):
Yeah, it was it didn't it wasn't well, it wasn't good.
Speaker 5 (45:18):
And so ever since I got home, I mean, it
was just one fiasco after another. You know, our pets
were getting sick. The sewer was just you know, just
just exploded. There were lights turning off and on, you know,
in the shower when we you know, if you were
to take a shower early in the morning, the lights
(45:39):
would go off. But it was mainly monetary stuff. It
was my you know, my vehicle would breakdown. It would
just cost so much money. So I had to I
had to email, you know, Robert the dolland said I'm
really sorry. I will wipe all the pictures off of
my on my phone, and I you know, I apologize.
(46:02):
And it felt like there was something lifted off of
me after.
Speaker 1 (46:07):
That, so it was real to me.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
It sounds like Robert the Doll is something like Chucky.
Speaker 5 (46:16):
Yes, but he stays in this you know, this container
and there's there's letters.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
All over the walls of you know, please take the
curse off, Please take the curse off. So apparently I'm
not the only one that he has cursed.
Speaker 2 (46:33):
Yeah, So what does your family think about the work
that you do as a paranormal investigator.
Speaker 5 (46:42):
Well, my my daughter, she's she's very you know, she
was very apprehensive for the longest time, you know, just saying,
you know, be careful because when you know, like the
water faucet would just turn on by itself, and she,
you know, she would scare her, whereas you know, I
might have gotten a little you know, excited, but it's scary,
(47:05):
you know, for them.
Speaker 1 (47:07):
So just just to be careful. And over the years
you do learn, you learn to be very careful, very respectful,
because there is something out there and I can't tell
you what that is, but just be respectful, careful.
Speaker 2 (47:25):
Have you ever been accused of making things worse after
your investigation?
Speaker 5 (47:31):
Yes, actually we have, but I do give them a
heads up that that might happen, and you know, before
we do anything, it's we've got to get the okay
on that that it might it might get worse. And
there were times where they said, yes, it did get worse,
but then it's subsided.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
So so if something gets worse, what do you do
go back and try and figure out why it went
worse or does it just go away with time?
Speaker 5 (48:00):
It goes away with time, you know. So that kind
of comes back to how do we help them? And
the way we help them is, you know, we want
to find out first of all, like who it is,
you know, who are you?
Speaker 1 (48:13):
What's going on? Do you have a message for the
people in the home?
Speaker 5 (48:18):
And then if we get all these positives, whether it's
the spirit box, the E MF readers, maybe an EVP,
we get a lot of positives. Then when I present
that to them, all I can tell them is Okay,
there might be a message here, but there's typically a
message that they will get and that's what the spirit
(48:43):
is trying to tell them. So they need to work
with that message and then if it happens to get worse,
they need to call us back. But so far they
follow our advice is just you know, try to find
out what you need to do in the living, what
(49:03):
do you need to do to satisfy what is the message?
So it could be like someone just passed away and
they they have a problem with maybe there's the deed
of the home, you know, needs to go to someone
in particular, and then when we give them that message,
they are like, oh, yes, that's right, we are having
(49:27):
problems with the deed of this home. So then it's
like if it doesn't subside, because they need to get
their message across. If it doesn't subside, then you call
us back and then we will find out what we
need to do.
Speaker 1 (49:40):
But typically it will subside.
Speaker 2 (49:43):
Catherine, I guess my last question for you tonight is
because time is going by so fast and thank for
being here again, is if somebody is listening to the
show tonight who has an encounter with a presence in
their home, would you advise them to confront it or
to call somebody who is used to the power normal
(50:06):
and dealing with spirits, ghost shadow people's or whatever.
Speaker 1 (50:11):
Yeah, I would. I would definitely not confront it. I
would definitely not address it.
Speaker 5 (50:16):
I would I always tell everyone that reaches out, you know,
journal it, and you know, if we see some consistency there,
then yes we will, we will have to come over.
And but if it goes away, it'll just go away.
But never never confront it unless you are a professional
(50:41):
in this type of business, because you could just make
it worse.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
Have you ever heard of somebody having haunted dreams, recurring
haunted dreams?
Speaker 5 (50:52):
I haven't, I haven't, but I've I've heard of recurring dreams,
but not haunted dreams.
Speaker 2 (50:58):
Well, why I'm asking, So I've heard from other people
that sometimes spirits, whether good or bad, try to communicate
with you in your sleep. So I was figuring, you know,
if it's a if it's a pastor relative who's trying
to communicate, and if they can, then a negative entity
would do the same and instead of haunting you in
(51:19):
the waking hours, they would haunt you in the sleeping hours.
Speaker 5 (51:23):
And I do believe, yes, and the first that yes,
you can be contacted your dreams. But you know there's
that there's a you know, between the good and the evil,
And you know, rob, I have to be honest, I don't.
Speaker 1 (51:42):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (51:43):
I've never encountered evil, so I can't speak on.
Speaker 2 (51:48):
Behalf of that well, that's that's because the ghosts have
told the negative entities the watch out for Catherine. She's
going to find you. Catherine, quickly tell it. Tell our
listeners how they find out more about you and the
Denver Paranormal Research Society.
Speaker 1 (52:05):
Yes, you can just.
Speaker 5 (52:06):
Go to www dot Denver paranormal dot com and at
the bottom of our page we have a contact us
form that you fill out and if you have any questions,
we'll be more than happy to help. We assess photos,
we assess videos, and then we just offer advice as well.
Speaker 2 (52:28):
Now I've got about thirty seconds here, but I also
understand you've authored a self published a book entitled A
Simple Guide to help me determine if I have paranormal
activity in my home? And where can people get a
copy of that?
Speaker 1 (52:41):
Yes, and you can get that also on the website.
Speaker 2 (52:45):
Catherine, it's been a delight talking to you. Thank you
very much for taking time out of your data. Join
us here on the x own and we look forward
