Speaker 1 (00:00):
And as we gather into the Lord's presence this morning,
maybe grab yourself a cup of coffee and a good
seat this morning, and just relax in the presence of
our Lord and Savior, Jesus christis he begins to speak
to us about bringing down giants. Of course, our mind
automatically goes to First Samuel seventeen in the story of
(00:21):
David and Goliath. And perhaps we know that story so
well that sometimes we miss the part where David says
how we are to bring down giants. But in verse
forty six and forty seven, listen to what he says
to the giant. He says this to the giant this day,
(00:43):
will the Lord deliver you into my hand? I will
strike you, and all the earth may know that there
is a God in Israel, and all the assembly shall
know that the Lord saves, not with the sword and spear,
for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give
(01:07):
you into our hands. Everybody faces giants in their lives.
The ten Spies out of the twelve Spies, if you
remember that went into the Promised Land, said that there
are giants in that land, and we're afraid of them.
Moses he had to go back and face his giant
(01:28):
when he stood before Pharaoh. David had other giants in
his life of Saul and Absolom. We're all struggles that
he had to face. Joseph had his brothers and the
strife that went on there. I remember Elijah had Jezebel,
Paul had his thrown in the flesh. We all have
(01:50):
giants that we face. And this morning, God wants you
to take just a little bit of time and through
the how are the Lord Jesus Christ, ask yourself this question,
what is my giant today? Be honest before the Lord?
What is your giant? The biggest struggle you're facing right now,
(02:17):
the biggest decision you're making. What is it? Maybe even
if you can right now, call it out before the Lord,
call it out before your enemy, so you know that
it's before the Lord. It can be as simple as
a job proposal that has a deadline on it, or
(02:37):
a financial hardship that has you pretty stressed out right now.
Maybe it's an issue with a child going through their
teenage years, or even an ailing parent in which you've
got to make tough decisions. See all of these and
more can seem like giants to us and much of
our daily focus as goes to how can I fix this?
(03:01):
What are my options? What can I do? But David
says something very wonderful in these two verses. David says,
the only part I have in this fight with this
giant is first to stand up to it. Second thing,
give it my best shot, and then leave the rest
(03:25):
to the only one who can bring down giants, and
that is the faithful and one true God. What is
your part in facing your giant today? Stand up to it,
don't fear it, because God is on your side and
the battle belongs to the Lord. Once you stand up
(03:49):
to it, just give it your best shot, do your part,
and do it in faith. And what God says is
if you'll stand up to it and give it your
best shot, I'll bring it down. That's a promise. So
today I pray a blessing over you. I pray that
(04:10):
you'll stand up to whatever is standing in front of you.
Because there's an old saying that has always been true.
The God that is in you is greater than the
giant in front of you. And I pray right now
the Holy and wonderful name of Jesus for a calming spirit,
(04:30):
for a spirit in you that is not one of fear,
but one of faith. And that you realize this, that
there is nothing standing in front of you that God
can't remove in his timing. You be safe, you be strong,
and you be blessed, and you be that person who
(04:52):
knows that God will win this battle. Have a great
day and make God bless you
