Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, everybody, welcome to a brand new episode of the podcast.

(00:06):
Today we have my Yisha aka coach My. She's going
to be talking about all things mental health and all
things life coaching. And I just want to say, Maisha,
welcome to the show. How are you doing?

Speaker 2 (00:19):
Thank you? I'm doing great. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
Here today, No worry. So my first question to you
as what got you into being a life coach. It's
really intrigued to know how you got into that field.

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Initially, I have a long standing history of being advocate
because I started off well. I'm a social worker, case manager,
adoption advocate, mental health advocate. And I got into the
realm of life coaching because my goal is to help

(01:04):
others become the best version of themselves.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
And I got.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Into life coaching based on my past life experiences and
I wanted to use my past life experiences to turn
it in from a negative into a positive, to teach
others how to overcome certain obstacles and circumstances that they

(01:31):
are going through or have been through, and to help
them navigate to push forward to work towards living a
productive life that will lead them to continuous happiness. Because happy,
I feel happiness starts with oneself, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
For sure. And you touched on a lot though the
fact that not only were you a Mentalth Africa and
life coach, be also we're a social work case manager,
and you also worked within the sort of adoption field.
So I guess you're definitely right that you know, happiness

(02:15):
is like paramount, it's it starts from within. It starts
within you, and I know that, and you all know
as well that we all go through the toughest of
times in life. Life brows so many challenges at us
that we have to overcome and to deal with the
adversity that comes with that.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Yes, and I specifically my specialty is working with individuals
who have endured trauma, and that's my specialty in the
realm of life coaching. And I'm hoping next year I'm

(03:03):
gonna I'll be launching my website and the name of
my business life coaching business is be You on Purpose
Life Coaching Services at OLC.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Okay, So that sounds absolutely amazing what you're doing. So
when the website does come out, definitely keep me up
to date with that. And I'm not you know, and
I'll share it about And you also said as well
that with life coaching in particular, you work with those
who've experienced trauma. What is one thing that stood out

(03:45):
to you when you've worked with those people.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
One of the most important things that stood out to
me when I engage with individuals who come to me
for life coaching in the area of trauma is that
they have a difficult time getting past childhood trauma. And

(04:13):
what I've learned that once a person master and I
wouldn't say get over it, because once a person endure trauma,
you can't just say, well, get over it. It's a
process of ones changing their mindset, alleviating a few things
that they feel that's negative about their life, replacing it

(04:37):
with positive things. And I would say the main thing
is childhood trauma because what happens in a person's childhood,
if it's traumatic, it carries on into you know, most
of the sometimes into the adulthood, where it hinders the

(05:01):
a person to grow and excel and do well, and
it hinders a person leading into their purpose. And that's
my job as a life coach is to not tell
a person what to do, but to guide a person

(05:23):
into the realm of so they can overcome flourish and
find out what their purpose, purpose is in life, and
that looks different for every individual.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yeah, definitely. And I like the fact that he said
it's like everyone has their purpose. Everyone, everyone eventually finds
their purpose. And I think I find that when there's
when there's people that have experienced trauma sickly in childhood,
it can carry over, like you said, to your adulthood
on and I can affect them for quite a long

(06:02):
amount of time and even even when they've had therapy,
it's obviously not going to fix the it's not obviously
not going to fix the problem or or if you
have life coach ap However, what it does do I
think is I think it helps you, Oh, have a
out there. I have to
