one podcast. Good afternoon to ownmy listeners, welcome to the new one,

(01:00):
and much love and respect to myown one day one's crew. Now
today on Tony on one podcast,we have for your lunchtime break Daily Health
where we will delve into HIV thestages as well as for your news report,

(01:26):
lawsuits, own going issues. Solet's dive. This is Lady Health
for your daily health. We aretalking about HIV the stages. So before

(01:51):
we dive into the stages, ifyou're unaware of what HIV really stands for,
a means HIV is short for Humanimmuno deficiency virus and It is a
viral, a viral infection that attacksthe immune system, specifically c D four

(02:15):
cells, which are crucial for fightingoff infections and diseases. And without treatment,
HIV can progress to a more siserious and severe stage called AIDS,
which is short for acquired immuno deficiencysyndrome. A not a nice virus at

(02:42):
all. So I implore you allto wrap it up. Wrap it up
again, wrap it up for yourhealth and well being as well as others.
And I felt that this this wasvery important to speak on because we

(03:04):
have so many people with it whoare not very nice, people who are
trying to give it to other peoplebecause it was given to them. So
I think this is really important totell you all. Wrap it up,

(03:24):
all right. So now HIV.The stages of infection, well, they're
generally four stages of HIV. Thefirst is acute HIV infection. This is
the initial stage, occurring within twoto four weeks after exposure to the virus.

(03:49):
Some individuals may experience flu like symptomsduring this stage, such as fevers
or a throat rash, fatigue, swollen lefts, headache, and muscle ages.
However, not everyone will show symptomsor symptoms may be so mild that

(04:10):
they go unnoticed. Two Clinical latency, also known as the asymptomatic stage.
This phase can last actually for severalyears and well. During this time,
the virus is actively replacing, replicating, and damaging the immune system. Even

(04:38):
through even though symptoms may not beapparent, they're working. It is essential
to remember that even without symptoms,HIV can still be transmitted to others.
So what's the next stage? SymptomaticHIV infect and As the immune system weakens,

(05:02):
individuals may start experiencing recurrent infections orprolonged illnesses. Common symptoms can include
persistent fatigue, fever, night sweats, unexplained weight loss, chronic diarrhea and
thrush which is a fungal infection inthe mouth, pneumonia, and skin rashes.

(05:27):
These symptoms can vary from person toperson, and the lasting final stage
is AIDS, which most will sayfull blown AIDS, but it is just
the AIDS. In the final stagesof HIV infection, the immune system is

(05:48):
severely damaged and the individual becomes highlyvulnerable to opportunistic infections. In certain cancers,
the symptoms associated with AIDS can besevere and life threatening. These may
include persistent fever, severe fatigue, rapid weight loss, chronic diarrhea, night

(06:15):
sweats, recurrent respiratory infections or ingenital ulcers, neurological disorders, and blurred
vision. Now, it is importantto note that symptoms alone cannot confirm an
HIV infection, as they are commonto many other illnesses. The only way

(06:39):
to be sure of an HIV infectionis by getting tested. Now, if
you think you may have been exposedto HIV, it is crucial to seek
medical advice and get tested as soonas possible. Early diagnosis and prompt treatment
can significantly improved the long term outcomeand quality of life for individuals living with

(07:05):
HIV. Keep in mind it isalways best to consult with the medical professional
or personalize advice and goddess regarding yourhealth. News report, current events,

(07:28):
it's just and the headlines. Nowwe often talk about when it comes to
the news every day, we haveso many people who are going to getting
convicted, going to prison, andthen there are all there are some who

(07:49):
pretend to be insane. And thenwe talk about all those things, all
the major court cases and everything thattakes place. They get so much attention,
But what about the people who reallycan't mentally stand for trial. What

(08:13):
really happens with those people? Dothey go to prison anyway or are they
put in a facility. Well, this new story is coming out of the
Boots aka yeah, the Boot Louisiana. And this is dealing with East back

(08:35):
Rouge Parish inmates versus East Feliciana ParishPolice Jury, UH Louisiana Department of Held.
And there's a few people cause there'sthere's lawsuits flying. Let's let's just
say that off top, there arelawsuits flying because of this. Now cadeem

(08:58):
fames can they see? Lanthier andMalcolm Shaw have been ruled incompetent to stand
trial and remanded to the Eastern LouisianaMental Health System elm HS for short,
And that's probably what I'll be usingin Jackson. But due to an extensive

(09:20):
backlog, they have been able toreceive treatment. These men are hoping to
join a civil rights lawsuit that HarmonyBehavior Health Services filed back in June in
the US District Court against East FelicianaParis Police jury members, the sheriff,
and the building inspector. So,like I say, lawsuits are flying at

(09:46):
this point. Now the lawsuit claimsHarmony stands to lose more than a hundred
million if the parish does not providea building permit to renovate a nursing home
and allow Harmony to follow through withthe Cooperative Endeavor agreement it's signed with the
state to house the mentally ill patients. Because let me start right there,

(10:13):
would you when you sign an agreement, you stick to it, right,
That's first and foremost, that's howit's supposed to go. In my correct
let me know and how often doesit get broken? And what to do
about that? But this is whatthey're going through now. The lawsuit argues

(10:35):
this is a violation of the Fifthand fourteenth Amendments. The detainees who file
the intervention added the Louisiana Department ofHealth as a defendant. The department regularly
refuses to accept prompt physical custody ofdetainees who have been found to lack the

(10:56):
mental capacity to stand trial, reachthe lawsuit. Now, that's very damaging
for all these people, and itmakes you wonder, why how are we
doing this? Well? As ofJuly second of this year, one hundred
and fifty six people were a werewaiting in parish prison for mental health treatment.

(11:18):
Now, this is according to thepublic records cited in the lawsuit.
Many of these detainees have been waitingfor treatment for more than a year.
So we have inmates. Well, they can't stand trial, So I mean,
I'm kind of at a loss asfar as calling them inmates, But

(11:39):
these men have been sitting there asif they were inmates. If they can't
stand trial, they can't. Theyneed mental healthcare. Staying in prison is
not good for them. They're stayingin jail is not good for them.
It's not helping them, and thatcould be a daily situation. Now back

(12:05):
to this agreement. The States signedan agreement with Collins Temple and Harmony Health
to move one hundred and eighteen patientsfrom Jackson to a facility in Baton Rouge
starting June first. Where we knowthat didn't happen because we're way past that.
We're in October, were almost inOctober. Harmony currently operates twenty nine

(12:26):
facilities for patients covering a wide rangeof ages and mental health issues, but
neighbors protested the Baton Rouge facilities,so Temple ended up purchasing a former nursing
home in Clinton with plans to convertit into a mental health treatment center.
Again and again and again there's morebacklash. The parish denied temple of building

(12:52):
permit and held several meetings or otherresidents spoke out against what they feared would
be dangerous residents. You know thatjust bugs me a little bit right there.
But how can you do this?Is this community? It is this?
What is this? Why are wedoing this? I mean, it's

(13:18):
it's a mess. It's it's reallya mess. And this is wrong.
I mean, clearly the state doesn'twanna do it, clearly, and it
seems as if they're finding every reasonnot to help these mental health patients.

(13:39):
Kind neighbors, no fear for neighbors. It looks like neighbors in the community
aren't eat, aren't welcoming of mentalhealth facilities nor other patients who desperately need
them. How is that a carryingand supportive state or community? Serious sleep,

(14:01):
So we're saying no to community basedprograms? Really, but why unconstitutional
confinement in parish jails is what we'redoing? Clearly? Right? So you
guys tell me now, I'm goingto post the link for you guys,

(14:26):
if you're following me on social media, please do so that way you can

But this is crazy. Community issupposed to stand together no matter what good

(14:48):
and bad. It's like a marriage. You can't pick and choose. And
in this well, if you lookat the history of the litigation between these
patient detainees and the Louisiana Department ofHealth, it's been going on for years
and they basically have not done anythingto expand the state's ability to handle the

(15:13):
increase population. And the problem isgetting bigger. So something has to be
done and this is not right. So that's why I want to put this
out there because this is an issue, and this has been your news from
the book. You have been listeningto Tony on One podcast brought to you
