conversations, and all things trending.I'm your host, Tony and I'm here

(00:27):
Let's get into it. I andwelcome to another episode of the Tony on
One podcast. I am your hostTony on one and this is your hot
topic where we dive into thought provokingdiscussions about the issues that matter most.
(00:51):
And today's episode, we're gonna bepretty much talking about everything, almost everyday,
thing that has pushed Americans pretty muchto the edge. Like it's been
going on for years, the pushingus thirty years ago, but every year
it seems we get pushed further andfurther closer to that edge. So this
(01:17):
is a powerful examination of all thethings so much that has put us on
that edge, the potential brink ofsilvil war and war. Now. American
citizens are currently facing a myriad ofinterconnected problems that have come to the forefront
(01:40):
and impacted our society in various ways. We have the things that happened years
ago that have just been sitting therebubbling, and then we've been stacking new
things on top of it. Sotoday we're gonna talk about those issues that
have been just thrown into this bigshit storm of a citizen pot. Now,
(02:04):
one of the most pressing issues isthe ongoing racism. It is the
top problem. And this is oneof those shows that it's a little sensitive
of a topic, so be preparedthat it could be emotionally, it could
be triggering, but this is somethingwe need to talk about. So one
(02:30):
of the person most pressing issues isthe ongoing racism. In recent years,
our nation has been grappling with thepervasive and enduring issue of racism, from
the blatant acts of discrimination to themore subtle systematic biases. The fallout from
(02:52):
centuries of racial inequality has left thelasting impact on our society and we can't
say we don't see this. Theconsequences of these deep seated divisions have become
increasingly evident, and it's crucial thatwe address them head on. With technology,
(03:15):
things are being put out there andwe can no longer say we didn't
know, we don't understand, wedidn't think it was that big of a
deal. There's just so many excusesget tossed around for this. Now,
to fully comprehend the current state ofaffairs, we must first explore the historical
(03:39):
roots of racism in America. Racismhas roots that, let you know,
it's been going on for a verylong time, from the era of slavery
to segregation and the civil rights movement. Racism has stained the fabric of this
(03:59):
name, despite significant progress which everyonemight not agree with that in certain areas,
it is a sad reality that racismpersists and continues to haunt our collective
conscience. That is, if youknow, for those who have a conscience
(04:21):
when it comes to that, becausesome people do not, it does not
bother their conscience because they were taughtthis. It was taught from a very
young age. When we're born,we know nothing of racism. We only
begin to know what we are taught, what is shown to us. So
(04:43):
if racism is something that is taught, it must stop being taught because it
is not a true thing to doto people. Now, the recent incidents
of police brutality against black individuals suchas George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and
(05:06):
countless others have ignited a firestorm ofsocial unrest and cause for a more equitable
society, and not only that, cause for police reform. I don't think
we should defund the police, butI think they should be taught. There
should be some sort of reform now. These incidents have shown a harsh light
(05:33):
on the systemic racism that pervades ourlaw enforcement institutions, adding fuel to an
already combustible situation. People are tiredof being hurt. People are tired of
being killed, people are tired ofbeing abused. When we were doing our
best to be everyday citizens in Americaand just in doing that caused some sort
(06:02):
of a problem, It's mind boggling, to be honest about it. Furthermore,
the increased polarization and political tribalism wewitness in America today have only exacerbated
racial tensions. Whatever they're doing upthere in office. Again, let's go
(06:24):
back to what I said. Achild that is born does not know racism,
They don't have a racist bone intheir body. Is taught so through
being a toddler, elementary, middleschool, high school, college, adulthood.
Racism. Now it's in legislation. If we have racism in legislation,
(06:45):
then work. It's not gonna goanywhere positive, It only exacerbates racial tensions.
Now not to mention the rise ofwhites supremacy groups, cause they've been
there, They've just been emboldened tobe able to come out and be on
(07:09):
front street with it now to gettogether. And growing of extremist ideologies have
also deepened the divide between different racialand ethnic communities. It's more division than
there is unity. It has tochange somewhere and now. It is imperative
(07:33):
to recognize a civil war does notnecessarily require armed conflict. Instead, it
can manifest as a complete breakdown ofsocial cohesion, widespread unrest, and perhaps
most alarmingly, a loss of faithin the democratic institutions that govern us.
(07:57):
And that is very big now.The consequences of a divided society are far
reaching and impact us. All economicdisparities, lack of access to quality education
and health care, as well asunequal treatment under the law of contribute,
(08:20):
which all contribute to the perpetuation ofracial inequality and resentment. We must confront
these issues had on with open heartsand a commitment to do better. As
we navigate this treacherous terrain, itis crucial to engage in honest discussion,
(08:41):
promoting empathy, understanding, and unity. We must amplify the voices of marginalized
communities, taking active steps to addresstheir grievances and instill lasting change because a
lot of them cannot get out andyou know, voice their opinion, and
(09:01):
their opinions do matter. They areimportant. Now, Tackling the issue of
racism requires collective efforts and actionable solutions. Legislation aimed at reforming law enforcement practices,
promoting diversity and inclusion in all aspectsof society, and fostering educational programs
(09:26):
that teach the true history of racialinjustice are just some of the steps we
can take to move towards a moreharmonious nation. Now, another issue is
a health crisis, and this iscaused by the COVID nineteen pandemic. The
virus has not only resulted in theloss of countless lives, but also put
(09:50):
immense strain on our health care systemand disrupted daily life for millions. And
it's a lot of people who havenot been able to bounce back yet.
The stress and anxiety and everything fromit has just been too much for them.
Now. Additionally, the economic falloutfrom the pandemic, which is still
(10:11):
ongoing, has left millions of Americansunemployed or struggling to make ends meet,
exacerbating existing income inequality and financial instability. So we already had you know,
issues with getting income or should Isay gaining income as well as our financial
(10:37):
system. It was already you know, unstable to a certain degree already,
and this just added to it.Now many business, many individuals and businesses
have faced financial hardships, leading tojob losses, limited access to health care,
and a growing wealth gap. Andsee that there was already already a
(11:01):
wealth gap there, so it onlymade it worse. Also, the relentless
rise of climate change that poses an exasi a thread with devastating wildfires,
hurricanes, and extreme weather events andthe endangerment of biodiversity adds another layer of
(11:28):
apprehension. So we're already stressed out. Excuse me, guys, cause I
fumbled over that one heard, whichy'all know where I'm getting with this.
They are becoming more frequent. We'reseeing more hurricanes, more storms, uh,
more wildfires. And it's in placesthat normally, you know, wouldn't
(11:52):
really be having, like earthquakes andtornadoes and things of that nature. Who
are now having them in some placewho already had them are having them more
frequently and they're much stronger. Soclimate change is a real thing and it's
not being addressed. We're just nowstarting to actually take a look at it,
(12:16):
which is something we should have beendoing years ago. Which has also
pushed us towards the edge because we'renot feeling like our government is on the
job the way they're supposed to,and we do have to hold them accountable
now. Additionally, access to affordable, transparent, and quality healthcare. Now
(12:39):
this is especially in marginalized communities.I say that on the regular because I
need to. It's important. Itremains a challenge hampering the physical mobility and
perpetuating inequality within the United States. Now, the next issue pushing four forward
(13:00):
to the edge is political polarization anddivision between government agencies have reached unprecedented levels,
diminishing trust and institutions and hindering effectivegovernance. You can't if if if
we the people don't trust you,we the people will elect someone else.
(13:28):
Like that's just that's that's what thatis. But it seems we're getting to
the point on the edge, Soare we're almost ready not to have any
of that and run things ourselves. Can we just go ahead and put that
out there there? It is thediv uh. The divisive political climate has
(13:50):
fuel widespread anxiety and tension among thepopulace, which is not a good thing.
These interconnected problems have left sit grapplingwith a sense of uncertainty and a
yearning for effective solutions that can alleviatetheir concerns and restore stability to their lives.
(14:11):
That's all we're asking for. Andin conclusion, all these issues,
including the impact of racism on America, is undeniable. There's no way we
can deny it, and the countrystands at a critical juncture where we must
(14:33):
do something about this. America ison the edge of self destruction, so
there's no need for wards and theconsequences of failing to address these issues are
severe. But with actual effort, compassion, conversations, and a commitment to
(14:54):
justice, we can work together toprevent a tragic descent into civil war.
These conflicts have ignited passionate debates challengingthe fabric of American society. It is
only the start, so let usstand united against the forces of division and
(15:18):
work toward a nation that thrives onthe principles of equality, justice and unity
because America is on age people andwe need to come back off of that
edge and fast. And that's awrap film. M We just explored some
