(00:28):
into it. Welcome, Welcome,Welcome back to another episode of tonya One's
podcast with the segment hot Topic Now. Looking at the news and everywhere else,
(00:50):
it makes you wonder in America, are we really living by the constitution?
Like what is happening we see onthe news all the time where someone's
constitutional rights have been just destroyed, basically just ignored as if it wasn't even
(01:15):
there, And it makes you wonder. Okay, so what is changing?
What is happening? What's the purposeof the constitution then and now? Like
what's going on? So today that'swhat we're gonna be talking about the purpose
of the Constitution and its important ofcourse, So get ready, let's dive
(01:40):
in and welcome to all my newlisteners. Thank you for tuning in.
If you're not like subscribed and followed, go ahead and do so and leave
me a comment in the comment sectionbelow. If you're listening to this via
YouTube, let me know what youthink on this and what's happening to all
(02:02):
my day one. Much love andrespect to y'all. Y'all beholding me down,
yes, y'all do. But thepurpose of the Constitution, then and
now, the purpose of the Constitution, both then and now, serves as
the bedrock of the United States governanceand the protection of individual rights. Okay,
(02:23):
like that's what we were told andtaught and everything. When drafted in
the late eighteenth century, the Constitutionaimed to establish a more cohesive and effective
government, as the original Articles ofConfederation proved inadequate. It sought to strike
a balance between granting power to thecentral government, demonstrated by the creation of
(02:49):
three separate branches, while concurrently safeguardingindividual liberties through the Bill of Rights.
Okay, so you know when theyfirst threw it up, it wasn't quite
right and had to reduce some thingsapparently. The Constitution then provided a framework
(03:10):
for the formation of a strong andstable nation, ensuring that no single branch
or individual could dominate, thus fosteringa system of checks and balances. Okay,
let me start right there. Seethat's where I have some issue,
and I'm pretty sure you all dotoo, the part where it's supposed to
(03:31):
be ensuring that no single branch orindividual could dominate. So we're gonna put
a pin in that right there, because we know what's going on. The
news tells us, our eyes tellus, we hear it on the radio,
it's online, news is everywhere, and it seems that we'll take Trump
(03:55):
for example, uh, who reallywants to dominate and actually had been doing
so for a while. But it'ssituations like that that makes you question that
part of the Constitution, cause you'vegot so many different entities and organizations and
(04:19):
their leaders which can some times oftenbe in office trying to dominate. And
that's a problem and that's where alot of problems stem from. Now.
Additionally, it outlined the structure offederal and state governments and their respective roles.
(04:44):
Now centuries later, the purpose ofthe Constitution remains largely unchanged, but
it has been changed. It servesas a guiding force that continues to protect
and uphold the rights of American citizenswhile also a to the evolving needs and
changes of contemporary society. I havean issue there too, I'm pretty sure
(05:09):
y'all know it. Y'all like, wait, what on the part where it's
supposed to continue to protect and upholdthe rights of American citizens. We can
look at our governing body as itrelates to police. I don't have to
go through all the names, causewe know them. We know all the
(05:32):
names of the people who we whowe've seen on the internet, we've seen
online, we've seen in our newsapps and Facebook, all the social media.
Those videos get posted some of everywhere, and it's clear that oftentimes now
(05:58):
it does not seem to protect anduphold the rights of American citizens. We
see it. With its amendment process, the Constitution allows for the incorporation of
new rights such as civil rights andwomen's suffrage, ensuring that it remains a
living document responsive to the ever changingideas and values of we the American people.
(06:28):
So if it's ever changing, thatmeans we should be able to change
things as we being the people throughvoting. Our votes do count. And
if anyone has ever told you thatyour vote does not matter or count,
(06:49):
or lying to you, it doesmatter. Who we put up there to
speak for us and to make decisionsbased on what we need and want,
because it's not just them getting intooffice and doing what they want. No,
it's a job that they're supposed todo what we want and what we
(07:12):
need. They're there to speak upfor us and come up with these legislations
and all these rules and laws andthings of that sort. They're working for
us on behalf of us. That'swhat it's supposed to be. So the
(07:34):
question comes, well, what isthe purpose of the Bill of Rights?
Well, the Bill of Rights, ratified in seventeen ninety one, holds immense
significance in the history of the UnitedStates. Its primary purpose is to safeguard
the fundamental rights and liberties of Americancitizens, ensuring the protection of individual freedoms
(07:56):
against potential government infringement. Do yousee a lot of government infringement. That's
a problem, That is a hugeproblem. Actually. Now, the founding
fathers, drawing inspiration from prominent philosopherssuch as John Locke, recognized the importance
(08:20):
of limiting the power of the federalgovernment and preventing it from encroaching upon the
natural rights of its citizens. Hcan we all agree that they're not doing
that like that? They are,in fact in several ways and crouching can
can we agree on that part,y'all Let me know what y'all think about
(08:43):
that part as well. Consequently, the first ten Amendments to the United States
Constitution, collectively known as the Billof Rights, were adopted. These amendments
guarantee essential liberties such as freedom ofspeech, religion, and the press,
(09:03):
as well as the right to beararms and be protected from unreasonable searches and
seizures. Right there, the rightto bear arms, they're messing with that
as well as they're messing with thefact that we're supposed to be protected from
(09:24):
unreasonable searches and seizures. So that'stoo right there, but it's documented it's
not supposed to be that way.Now. The Bill of Rights serves as
a cornerstone of American democracy. Okay, let me start right there. Democracy
(09:46):
democrat democracy, I'll just let thatsimmer right there. Of American democracy sounds
more like democrat right now. It'syeah, yeah, now, simp cementing
(10:07):
the principles of individual autonomy and limitingthe potential for government abuse of power.
How do we do that? Causewe're clearly not living by the Constitution because
our rights in several ways are beingignored as if they don't even exist.
(10:33):
So has that part changed, Becauseif it has, that's a problem.
Your citizens don't know that. That'sabuse of your citizens, which makes America
look very bad. We're supposed tobe a respectable country. But if we're
(11:01):
not living and being treated according tothe Constitution as well as its Bills of
Rights, then those who are ignoringthose rights and violating those rights should face
(11:22):
criminal charges, criminal with financial penalties. And we're not talking a slap on
the risk probation, No hard timeshould be served. If y'all are running
(11:50):
with the Founding Fathers. It's alwaystalked about the Founding Fathers, the Founding
Fathers drawing inspiration from philosophers and it'sbeen adapted. But you're not treating your
citizens as such, which begs thequestion what citizens? What can citizens do
(12:16):
when there is government abuse of power? And we're going to go into that
one in the next podcast. Butthe Bill of Rights and the Constitution is
there. We need to know it, We need to understand it. All
citizens should know their rights. Theyshould know the purpose of the Bill of
(12:41):
Rights, the purpose of the Constitutionas a whole. It could be looked
up online or you can go tothe library. But know these, understand
these, and we'll talk about waysto enforce this, cause they're no longer
(13:03):
standing up for us. They're nolonger speaking up for us. They're no
longer doing things the right way,the moral way. They're not abiding by
the law anymore. The law isnot abiding by the law anymore. That's
disturbing to hear in itself. Butunfortunately we are not living or be treated
(13:33):
as we should based off the Constitution, and it's supposed to be there to
help us. So tuning in nexttime and y'all let me know y'all thoughts
on this or any other topics y'allwould like to talk to. But catch
the next one to know what citizenscan do in cases of government abusive power.
(14:11):
