(04:12):
three and down to thirty three.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
That's Matthew Chapter fourteen, verses twenty two, ending at verse
thirty three. Amen.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
And the word of the Lord read on.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
This wise and straightway. Jesus constrained his disciples to get
into a ship and to go before him onto the
other side, while he sent the multitude away. And when
he has sent the multitude away, he went up into
(04:52):
a mountain a part to putty. And when the evening
was come he was there alone. But the ship was
now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves,
for the wind was contrary having louyah. And in the
(05:15):
fourth watch of the night, Jesus went unto them, walking
on the seat. And when the disciples saw him walking
on the sea, they were trouble, sining it is a spirit,
and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus think,
(05:38):
unto them, sin be of good cheer. It is I
be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord,
if it.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
And he said come. And when peter Us come down
out of the ship, he walked on the water.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
To go to Jesus.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
But when he saw the wind bostereous, he was afraid,
and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hands and caught him,
and said, unto him, all the of little thief, wherefore
(06:30):
did it thy doubt?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Verse thirty two.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased.
Then they that were in the ship came and worship him,
saying of a truth, Thou art the Son of God.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
The Word of God read in the presence and for
the people of God.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
Tonight, our discussion topic on these passages will be stay
focused during temptations and distractions. Stay focused during temptations and distractions. Now,
we do realize that in this dispensation of time, even
(07:23):
in this season, we the people of God, we are
confronted with many things that cause us to be tempted,
and we become distracted by what's going on, and maybe
to the point that we fear and we be.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Ready to give up.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
But tonight we hope that you can go away with
a comforting feeling that no matter what tempts us, we
have our way out, and no matter what distracts us,
we don't have to focus on our distractions because we
know who is in the storm with us. Amen, Amen,
(08:09):
and amen. Now these passages that was just read, they
were Now it talks about how either it is to
become distracted and lose our faith, lose our confidence as
(08:31):
well as cause ourself to.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Lose our own our blessings. We will learn tonight, hopefully.
Speaker 1 (08:41):
The importance of maintaining focus.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
On Jesus Christ while sometimes in life.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
In order to overcome fearful, cumbersome challenges which form storms
in our lives.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
We must keep our eyes fixed on.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Jesus Christ when temptations arise, so that we will not
be distracted from our power source of blessings. When our foundation,
or when our foundation has been made sure in Jesus,
(09:33):
the storms of life cannot overteach us. We will have
victory by faith instead and bring glory to His name.
Checking note now of today's challenges, so many prayers and
(09:56):
so many players have allied themselves together against the people
of God, which have created massive storms that are now
raging out of control. And because they're out of control,
(10:16):
they're creating distructions from what God has already pre destinated
for his children to.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
Become their blessings. Distractions.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Hear me now tonight, People of God. Distractions can come
through your family.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Even your family can do things that will cause you
to be distracted. It may come through your finances. I
don't have enough money to pay my ideas. I can't
make my cardinals. I don't have enough money to go
to the grocery store and shop.
Speaker 3 (10:59):
But these are district.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Another distraction could be illnesses, sickness or disease, even the
loss of loved ones, and so on and so on.
Now the life, these things are players.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
Making up our storm. And these players, they masterfully.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Tempt us to throw in the towel and walk away
from what God has or ordain for us, so that
we can succeed.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
In this season of our life.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
It is critical, critical, I'm gonna say that again, critical
that we stay focused and trust in the Lord to
protect us when we take courage to come out of
the boat of our circumstances. Well maybe some of us
(12:07):
have been in our storm to loan.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
We focus on.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
Its power and devastation, wreaking haven in our lives so
much to the point of incnpacitating our ability to stand
in faith. So we wield to the temptations rather than
(12:35):
trusting in God the.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Power of prayer.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
Never forget that His powerful hand awaits every opportunity to
protect and deliver us out of every storm of our life.
Understand also that when we are in God. By if
(13:05):
our not our power, not our understanding, not our knowledge,
not if our is not even what we know. But
by His power, no storms can overtake us. We will
be victorious over every one of them. Storms are serious,
(13:31):
and many times they become rageful. However, I want you
to underscore that word. However, they are a part of life,
whether they are natural storms or whether there are spiritual storms.
(13:52):
But our reaction, whether storm arise, will determine our outcome
to get to the other side. Regardless of the type
of storm that rides up in our lives. Sometimes it's
only humans to question.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
God and say, where is Jesus or God? I'm going
through a storm?
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Where is my help? Well, as we attempt to exegete
the scriptures tonight, we will recognize with the hope of
the Hope, with the help of the Holy Spirit, how
quickly our faith shifts to fear when our trust and
(14:46):
our focus is not in the power of Almighty God.
We will look at how the disciples had just witnessed
the miracle of Jesus feeding five thousand plus using a
(15:08):
little boy's lunch, which consisted only of two fish and five.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
Loaves of bread. After the meal look at God.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Now, look at God. Starting out with five two fish
and five.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Loads of bread. After that meal, twelve.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Baskets full of leftovers were gleaned from what started so small.
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 3 (15:41):
But now.
Speaker 1 (15:43):
Jesus tells them to get in the boat and go
to the other side of the sea.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
In their travel, a.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Storm began to rage on the sea while Jenusus remained
on the mountain. But Jesus was on the mountain.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Mean now, no different.
Speaker 1 (16:13):
Than what our reaction would probably have been. The disciples
shifted from faith to fear and focus on the distraction
of the storm rather than trusting it in God's protection.
(16:34):
So now, with the help of the Holy Spirit, we're
gonna try to dive into these passages, and I'm gonna
I read previously from the King James version. We're gonna
use the New International Version passages and reading as we
go throughout our discussion to make things a little bit
(16:57):
clearer for us on tonight the King James version of
the New International Version. Read passages twenty two, twenty three,
and twenty four. This way, immediately Jesus made the disciples
getting to the boat and go ahead of him to
(17:20):
the other side while he dismussed the crowd. After he
had dismissed them, he went up on a mountain side
by himself to pray. Later that night, he was there
(17:40):
alone and twenty boat says, And the boat was already
a considerable distance from land, buffeted by the waves because
the wind was against it. So what's going on here?
Jesus sent them across on the boat by themselves to
(18:05):
go to the other signs, while he remained on the
mountain top to be in where. Sometimes, but most times,
when there's some things that's going on in our lives,
we don't need everybody around, you know, hearing what we're
saying to the Lord. Sometimes we have to draw away
(18:27):
from the crowds, raw away from the people, to get
it all up in God's faith, so we will have
no distraction while we pray. Nobody calling our name, nobody
asking for anything, nobody needing anything, nothing to aggrobate us. Why,
because we need to talk to the Lord to keep
(18:50):
our own lives in order so we can deal with
our own temptations and distractions. Now, the deciples, they were
so focused on the distracting storm developing that they didn't
even comprehend that this, this is how we missed it.
(19:12):
They didn't even comprehend.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
That they were on the brink of witnessing another.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Miracle because of the omnipotence of Almighty God. Their fears
had overtaken their faith, allowing the storm distraction to take
precedence over the power of God. And we can't say
(19:43):
to that, Oh, what was wrong with them? Where their
mind could have been? How could they have forgotten that
they was written Jesus, the one who could calm the water.
We sometimes we.
Speaker 3 (19:55):
React the same.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Wait, we let our fears take precedent over our faith,
and therefore no longer can we focus on it is
God who holds all of the power in his hand.
The distraction of the storm caused their faith to weakening,
(20:21):
and when their faith weakened, they wavered forgetting that power.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Of favor that was already over their lives as well
as all of the storm was already in their own mouth.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
All they had to do was to speak to the
distraction and bring about needing peace. And come now, when
we look at verses twenty three and twenty four, Amen, Now,
the storms distractions occurred while they were in the will
(21:06):
of God, not because they had stins, But after all,
Jesus was the one that directed them to get in
the vote. Already on Jesus already.
Speaker 4 (21:21):
Knew what was ahead of them.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
The enemy also attacked our faith with distractions from our
storms of life. Now, let us recognize tonight that storms
are riding, storms are gonna rise in our life. Everything
(21:48):
is not gonna always be calm. Everything's not gonna always
be good. Everything is not gonna always work out the
way we expect or desire.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
But they won't last forever. You hear what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
The storms are not gonna last forever. When we look
at verses twenty five, amen that verse reason it said,
shortly before dawn, Jesus went out to them walking on
the water. Had anybody ever seen such a thing in
(22:31):
your life?
Speaker 6 (22:32):
No?
Speaker 5 (22:33):
One?
Speaker 1 (22:33):
Not walking in the water, but walking on the water.
Many Jesus' speak was not under the water, He was
not waving in the water, but as though he was
walking on dry ground. The Bible here said he was
walking on.
Speaker 3 (22:56):
The water, but disipeless.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Fear was so strong that they didn't even recognize who
Jesus was when he was approaching them on the mor
oh glory be unto God. When we look at verses
twenty six.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Through twenty seven.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
There it says.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they
were terrified.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
It's a ghost, they said, and cried in fear.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
But Jesus immediately said to them take courage in his eyes.
Speaker 4 (23:48):
Don't be afraid.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Oh my god, my God, my God. Many times our
blessing is right before our eyes. And just because it
don't look like what we were expecting, we don't recognize
that the blessing of the miracle is right there at
(24:12):
our finger tips.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
See, they thought that Jesus was an apparition.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Or that he was a ghost. Now it was less
than one four day to think about this. They had
just been with Jesus out ministraint in the sick, getting
in sight to the blind.
Speaker 4 (24:32):
They had just left him.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
Wasn't even a full day that they had been with
Jesus and had been out of his presence. However, they
were so focused on and distracted by the storm developing.
They saw the storm, but they couldn't see Jesus. Is
(24:56):
that happening to any of us tonight? We're so focus
on our circumstances and our troubles, our trials, and our tribulations,
which are nothing but storms and distractions in our live.
Have we become so distracted tonight that we have lost
sight of God's presence still being with us. Well, guess what,
(25:23):
we are no different when our storms are given more
attention than we give to Jesus. We fail to recognize
that He was present with us.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
All other time. He never needs He's always there with us.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
Now, somebody might say, well, they was in the vote
by themselves and Jesus was on the other side of
the river praying. But notice now they are in his
press because he is on the water walking to them.
Speaker 3 (26:04):
So his presence was with them in the storm. He's
present with us in our storms.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
But because we focused so much of our attention on
the negative things that's happening in our life, and when
it looked like life have gone awry and nothing is
working for us, you know, nobody favors us, and we
cannot get anything to happen the way that we want
(26:35):
it to happen, we cannot see that God is still
present with us. He promised us that he will never
forsake us, and that he would never leave us alone,
and he meant that just what he said, and we too,
just like these disciples, we were fail to see his presence,
(27:00):
to see that the spirit of the Lord is with us.
Why because we would take our eyes off of him,
and we will give more attention to what is happening
around us and what is taking place in our lives.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Now.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
I don't know about any of you tonight on this line,
but I would personally myself, I would welcome being in
the middle of my storm with Jesus being present with me,
(27:39):
rather than being already out of my storms without Jesus being.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
By my side.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Is a process. It's a process that we, the people
of God, we must go through. But while we go
through the process of the storm of temptations and distructions
in life, our faith must be in the Lord, and
we have to be assured. We have to assure our
(28:10):
own self that He is.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
With me, no matter what I am going through.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
The disciple's thought that he was a ghost. Here it
is again. Here hear not their lack of faith, but
fear lined up their eyes to.
Speaker 3 (28:33):
The miracle, to the miracle that was walking.
Speaker 4 (28:38):
Towards them on the water.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Sometimes in order for God to move us to the
next level. And I choose to believe that there's some
on the line tonight that aspiring to go to the
higher in your life, and you know, and the thing
that you have gone set and you want the Lord
to take you.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
To the next level.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
But we don't want to go through anything. We don't
want no stormoms to come up. We don't want no trouble,
no trials or no tribulations. We just want to smooth
row straighter's head that there.
Speaker 4 (29:15):
Will be no obstacles in the lab.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
But sometime, just sometimes, in order for God to move
us to the next level, he will allow. He will
a loud distractions and temptations to arise, not to harm us,
not to stop us, not to slow us down, but
(29:42):
in order to move us out of our omphant zone
where we act with faith. He's trying to get.
Speaker 3 (29:52):
Our faith increase.
Speaker 1 (29:54):
He's trying to get us to step out and launch
out into the deep trust stink in him and who
he is in our life.
Speaker 3 (30:04):
Said, we want to.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
Claim Jesus, and we claim it as our father, we
all claiming as our everything. But when trials and tribulations
and when storms and temptations and distractions rise up, then
we revert to fear rather than standing on solid ground
(30:28):
in our faith at times, like the disciples being comfortable
with always seeing Jesus in their myths, we to get
comfortable in giving it to the temptations and the distractions
(30:49):
the enemy cloud our judgment. Says, not the distruction. It's
not the temptation that cloud our judgment, because the Lord
says that unto every temptation, he has already provided a
way out for us. But because when the temptation and
the distractions come, then the enemy plays have it on
(31:14):
our minds and provoked fear in us, wanting us to
dismiss our faith, and we become afraid of the temptation
and the distraction, because the temptation and distraction by itself
has no power, but fear and faith has power. So
(31:36):
we have to know which one of these am I
gonna operate in when temptations and distractions come? Am I
gonna become afraid of them? Or am I gonna stand
in faith and walk by faith and not by sight,
and trust that the Lord is with me and there
(31:57):
is nothing that can happen to me, There is nothing
that can rise up against me that the Lord will
allow to overtake me. Or we better hear this tonight
the enemy cloud our judgment and to believing that God
(32:18):
will deliver us rather than leading us into the snails
of the enemy. We got to understand that we have
got to stop listening to the lies. We gotta stop
depending on the voice of the enemy, and we got
to learn how to distinguish the difference between when the
(32:38):
Lord is talking and when the enemy is speaking. Going
allowing the storms of temptations and distractions, rather does he
allow them to reset.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
Our faith and our trust in Him.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Because see, we have given so much attention and so
much focus to our storms that brought the temptation and
distraction that now we need a reset. Why because our
faith was weakened, and for men of us, our faith
just dissipated, and we so give into fear that we
(33:23):
forgot that we even have faith that can move a mountain.
The Bible tells us that we had the faith aside
of what of.
Speaker 3 (33:32):
A must deceived.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
We can speak to the mountain, We can speak to
the storm and tell it to go away or to
be removed, but we want to wait on the guard
to do it. But He will give us the power
to do it if we will stand in faith and
turn away from fear. Remember, the power is not in
(33:58):
the temptation. It's not a distraction. It has no power.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
We give it power because.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
We focus on it and allow our faith to dissipate. Now,
the NIV reading of verses twenty six through twenty seven
days this. When encycles saw him walking on the lake again,
they were terrified, and they called him a ghost, and
(34:25):
they cried in fear.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
They cried out a fear.
Speaker 1 (34:30):
But Jesus, look.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
How he comforted them.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
But Jesus immediately said to them, ck courage it is
I don't be afraid. Oh how many times have the
Lord comforted us when we gave in to our fear,
when the enemy, when he created these temptations and distraction
(34:57):
in our life? How many times we cry out to
the Lord, Lord, help me, I need you. You know.
I don't know what to do. I don't know which
way to go.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
I don't know whether to sit down.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
I don't know whether to stand up. I don't know
whether to look up or whether to look down. I
don't know which way to go. But when we cry
out unto Jesus, not cry out the people when we
are going through and when we're facing devastating times in
our life. It's when we cry out to Jesus, our
(35:31):
Lord and savior. He is the one that helps us.
He is the one that hurrod me, gives us what
we need to sustain our faith so that we will
not be overcome by fear. Also, in respect to verses
twenty seven through twenty nine, the NIV text reads this
(35:55):
beginning at verse twenty eight, Lord, this is Peter took
a bold stat and just for a moment momentarily, something
must have happened to cause him to catch to hold
the faith. Lord, if it is you, If it is you,
Peter replied, tell me to come to you on the water.
(36:19):
He was asking the Lord, pruve of yourself. If that's
really you you said it.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
Is, I don't be afraid.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
But if you really who you say you are, then
you tell me to come to you on the water.
We do the same thing when we don't trust Jesus
because of what the enemy rise up and present to us,
and because it don't look good, because it don't look
(36:48):
that it's gonna move in our favor, then we two
start dialing, Well, where is wap is Jesus is Jesus real,
is he really gonna help me through this? This is
what was happening Peter, he was had the question and
now he want to put Jesus on the hot thing.
If you re know who you say you are, prove
yourself to me and tell me you tell me to
(37:12):
come to you on the water. Look at what Jesus'
response was, Come, one word, he said, Come. Then Peter
got down out of the boot. Sometimes that's all we.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Need is one word from the Lord.
Speaker 1 (37:33):
Somebody on this line to not have been waiting for something,
having winning on the answer, have been dealing with something.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
But you need that one word from the Lord.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
That is going to change your life forever.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Jesus said, Come.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
That gave Peter the coverage that he needed momentarity to
get down out of the boot. He is gonna walk
on the water, and he was coming towards Jesus. Jesus
encouraged Peter in order to bring them as well as us,
(38:14):
out of our fear brought on by a distraction or
by storms. But he knew that the disciples, he knew
that they were recogning in their faith, and they was
tempted to give up, but momentary again, Peter allowed his
(38:38):
faith to override his fear. He refocused his attention. He
allowed his faith to override it and refocus where he
should have been, put his.
Speaker 3 (38:52):
Eyes back on Jesus.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
He was brave enough in that moment to ask for
Jesus's permission to get out of the boat and come
unto him on the water again. Jesus told him, come on, Peter,
come on. Calling Peter out of a place of fear,
(39:18):
he densiet that Peter would trust him enough to follow
through and conquer his challenge of fear.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
Rain lord him rich to Jesus.
Speaker 1 (39:35):
He didn't want Peter to feel the distraction of the
storm and be tempted to lose his faith in who
Jesus was. I can almost hear Jesus saying to Peter,
when you get to me, Peter, when you get to me,
when you can trust yourself, trust your faith.
Speaker 3 (39:58):
It's enough. Your faith is to allow you to walk
on this water and come to me.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
When you get to me, the distractions and the temptations
that is taking your attention away from me will have
no more power over you. Oh my God, fill without
normal power over you. Just get out of the boat
(40:29):
and come when your faith and your trust locks into
my will for your life.
Speaker 3 (40:41):
With my health, you can do all things.
Speaker 1 (40:47):
If your charge Peter to remain crippled by fear because
of the storm raging, or you can launch out in
the deep by faith, step out and witness the miracle
that awaits you. Sometime the miracle is standing right there
(41:09):
waiting on us. But something come up in our life,
and because we feel that I don't have the power
to deal with this, I cannot overcome this. This is
too hard for me. This is going to take too
much work. All I do is go in my secret
clause and I do all this praying. I got to
(41:31):
read my Bible, all this reading, I got to do, meditate, seek.
We don't want to do that. We want the Lord
to deliver everything to us on civil latter. I'm here
to tell us tonight it don't worry that way. We
gotta have faith in the Lord that he will do
for us what is necessary for our blessing, even to
(41:54):
the point if we are in need of a miracle,
He is there to perform that for us. Also. So
as Peter took dominion over his fear, though it was temporary,
he stepped out of the boat and began walking to
(42:19):
Lord Jesus. Now we need to get out of our
boat too, and by faith, we need to trust the
power of God over our fears of distractions and temptations.
And as we proceed on down the verse thirty, it'll
give us a little bit more about what had happened
(42:40):
once Peter got out of that boat. When we look
at verse thirty again, it says, but when he was sought,
when Peter saw the win, now it's out of the boat.
When he said, let me get out of this boat.
If it be you, let me get out of this
boat and come to you. And if he had enough
(43:01):
faith to get permission and to question the Lord about
prove yourself, if that's who you are, if he couldn't
hung onto his face just a little bit longer. But
while he was on the water, just as Jesus was
on the water, walking on the water, he turned his
(43:23):
eyes in the direction of the strong wind.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
He took his eyes off of Jesus.
Speaker 1 (43:31):
And when he did that, he looked at the wind.
He was afraid and beginning to think. He cried out,
look at our good God. His mouth compassionate. He is
Peter cried out, Lord save me, three little words, Lord
(43:53):
saved me. But even when we muscle up enough strength
in the moment to have faith, and we are not careful,
and if we don't stand strong, the enemy will come.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
With the blank of an eye just like that, and
snatched that faith.
Speaker 1 (44:13):
Moment away from us, and we are right back into
the place of fear where we were. Because although Peter
muscled up enough faith to step out of the boat
onto the water, he was even walking towards Jesus. He
gave in to the temptation of the storm, and while
(44:37):
focusing on it again, he took his eyes off Jesus.
He feared the distractions of the storm and it pull.
Speaker 3 (44:47):
Cancel harm to him.
Speaker 1 (44:50):
More than trusting in Jesus' ability to protect him. Right
in the midst of his storm, he was so close
to his miracle, yet still so far away.
Speaker 4 (45:08):
Why because of his fear, many.
Speaker 1 (45:12):
Of us fear is causing us to stay away from
our blessings, and our blessings become delayed, not denied, but
become delayed because we revert to a place of fear
when these distractions and these temptations arise in our life.
(45:35):
Rather than pushing through it, pushing through and out of
our fear and stand on our faith. Let us be
reminded here of Isaiah chapter forty three, verses one and two,
where God promised the children of Israelity that he would
(45:57):
be with them and that he would take care of them.
And the scripture reads, but now do said the Lord.
I'm reading from the NIV version.
Speaker 6 (46:07):
But now do, said the Lord that created thee, oh Jacob,
and he that formed thee O Israel fell not.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
But I have redeemed THEE. I have called THEE by
thy name.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
Thou art mine, and verse.
Speaker 1 (46:34):
Two said, when thy passest, oh, listen, this is the crook.
This is the the minitness power of the Lord. Right
here of his promise to his children, and it's also
applicable to the people of God today. He said, when
thou passest through the waters, I will be with THEE,
(47:00):
and through the revels they shall not overflow THEE. When
thy walks through the fire, thou shalt not be burned,
neither shall the flame endo upon THEE. All just can't
(47:21):
you hear the presence of the Lord, his promised presence
to his children of isra and as that they're also
applicable to us today who have chosen him as our
personal savior. Can you just hear his promise present to
be with them no matter what temptation came, no matter
(47:43):
what distraction came, Keep your eyes on your pride, which
is Jesus. Do not put your eyes on your starm,
because you will certainly betrayed by the enemy to give
in to the temptations of what could possibly happen. We
think about what could happen. It happened, happened yet, but
(48:05):
we get so fearful that we begin to focus on
what could happen, rather than rejoicing and say, God, I
thank you in this moment that you are with me.
And because in this moment you are with me, there
is nothing There is no temptation, there is no distraction,
(48:25):
There is no trial, no no trivilation, no circumstance that
could overtake me, because you are greater than all of that.
You are mine and I am yours, and you have
all ready made the provision for my outcome.
Speaker 4 (48:43):
Oh, somebody need to hear that tonight. I know I did.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
God was offering complete protection to his children from every
temptation and distraction. In essence, he was declaring his undeniable
power to them to cover and protect them, even to
(49:08):
the point of delivering them out of every storm.
Speaker 4 (49:13):
That could ever arise in their life.
Speaker 5 (49:18):
God never allows storms to rage in our life, to harm.
Speaker 1 (49:25):
Us or to weaken our faith. Storms of distraction arise,
and they have a purpose when you're going through a storm.
When that temptation or that distraction is placed in our
visual there's a purpose for it that God allowed it
(49:47):
to be seen.
Speaker 3 (49:50):
The purpose is to demonstrate.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
The hand and the power of God that is upon
our eyes. And how does he demonstrate that by the
faith when we are saying, when we stand in faith
no matter what, that.
Speaker 3 (50:07):
Brings glory to Him.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
And He will always let us arrive over all of
those temptations and those distractions victoriously. In the NIB text,
verses thirty one through thirty three reads this way, immediately,
look at how.
Speaker 3 (50:29):
Compassionate Jesus was.
Speaker 1 (50:31):
Immediately Jesus reached out his hands and caught Esus, you
of little faith. But he rebuked him, you of little faith.
He said, why need you doubt?
Speaker 3 (50:47):
And that same.
Speaker 1 (50:50):
Passage or rebuke go to us also tonight.
Speaker 4 (50:55):
Why do we.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
Doubt when we know Jesus is who he say he
is when we know that he has the power to
do all things but failed. And when we quote these
scripts that that all things are possible to them, that
believing I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,
then we can. We'll repeat these passages and we can
(51:17):
quote them perfectly. But when the storm rides and the
temptation comes and the distraction show up, we begin to
back up. Why because we allow our focus to be
on what's going on around us, rather than keeping our
faith in the chiations where it needs to be, and
(51:38):
that's on our prize, which is Jesus Christ. That's why
David said in Psalm one, I will lift up my
eyes into the hill from when it comes my health,
for all my help comes from the Lord who made
the heaven and the earth. So we can't be looking
on what's.
Speaker 3 (51:57):
Going on a right up us on this earth.
Speaker 1 (52:01):
We have to believe the word of the Lord, believe
his report that he have already spoken concerning us. Verse
thirty three said, and when they climbed into the vote,
the wind died down Verse thirty three. Then those who
(52:22):
were in the vote worshiped him, saying worship Jesus saying
truly you are the son of God. Didn't that answer
Peter's question right there where he's going to tell the
Lord about if it be thou, then let me get
come out the vote and come to you, and come
on the way. But in the end here, when they
(52:44):
saw the miracle that took place, they could not deny
who he was, and they add to declare.
Speaker 3 (52:51):
Truly you are the Son of God.
Speaker 1 (52:56):
Therefore, when we trust in the Lord with all of
our heart, and leading not to our own understanding, and
in all our ways acknowledge him, then the Lord kneels
direct our past.
Speaker 3 (53:14):
Thanks me the God tonight that when.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Peter entertained the temptations and the distractions of the.
Speaker 3 (53:22):
Strong winds, allowing his faith.
Speaker 1 (53:25):
To be overcome by fear, when he began to absent
right in the water, right there standing before the eyes
of Jesus. However, Jesus, full of compassion, extended a helping
hand to Peter's christ for help when he said, Lord,
save me. When Peter fell short.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
Of getting to Jesus, Jesus.
Speaker 1 (53:52):
Came to Peter and picked him up from the water,
dared not let him drawn, and put Peter back in
the boat into a safe place. Noticed that when Jesus
and Peter got back into the boat, the wind ceased,
(54:15):
and the wind and the storm raging lost its power.
This serves to remind them as well as us, that
while they were alone in the boat, crippled by fear,
the storm had power over them with temptations and distractions.
(54:42):
But once Jeneus stepped on board, right in the midst
of their ear, they forgot that they had power over
the storm because they resulted and they reverted to fill
rather than in faith. But when Jesus got back in
(55:04):
the boat with them, the very presence of Jesus stripped
all the power out of the raging storms. The storm
had no more war. Everything in the presence and command
of Jesus must be calm and peaceful. We must invite
(55:28):
him into our storms, not allowing our fear to block
him out. So be encouraged tonight, my dear sisters and brothers,
to have faith in Jesus and trust him in everything
that he had saved. Storms will arise, bringing fear, temptation,
(55:54):
and distractions. But we served the conqueror over every storm.
I said to you, just don't lose your focus.
Speaker 3 (56:07):
By fearing during your storm of life.
Speaker 1 (56:12):
Remember that Jesus is with you and he will never
leave you alone. A men, Amen and amen.
Speaker 4 (56:25):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (56:25):
We thank the Lord tonight for the words I tell you,
because you're all being distracted by something in this season.
But as the topic said, stay focused during temptations and distractions.
Speaker 3 (56:43):

Speaker 1 (56:45):

to believe that it was for everybody that was on
this line tonight, because previously the Lord had given me
another word, but then yesterday morning he changed it. Hell
they luyah Jesus, so we have to go in the
floor of what he says to do.
Speaker 4 (57:06):
We thank God again for all of you who have
been on.
