Speaker 1 (00:08):
Nil Nil Worn want your back doors. Hey eall, and

(01:23):
welcome to the Treasure of Vortex podcast with Gypsy Jewels
from YouTube zero discrimination, as well as her website gypsydigs
dot com and myself, Amanda diggerd Degaus. I know that
I haven't gotten to do much catching up with Gypsy
this last week, and she hasn't been able to do
much catching up with me. So now's our opportunity to

(01:43):
kind of chat and figure out what's going on, what happened,
what's going on going forward. I know we've got a
hot going on, and like two weeks I get to
see her. So, so, hey, Gypsy, how are you this evening?

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Hey, I'm doing great. It's a gorgeous day here in Texas.
It's sunny. I wish I was out detecting, but I've
actually been staying with a friend that just had surgery,
so helping her out until she goes. Drive her to
the doctor tomorrow and hopefully she gets okay tube tube

(02:22):
suffia taken out and hopefully everything goes well, and then
then I'll be ahead and back home probably Wednesday. So anyway, yeah,
I wish I was out treasure hunting, but you know,
sometimes life is just takes you all kinds of different directions.

(02:46):
So right now though, I'm actually standing in front of
a gorgeous old school and there is it's it's given
me the fever, you know, yeah, giving me the fever.
I'd love to detect here because there's a it shows
a historical marker here and it dates back. Let's see here,

(03:17):
migrated to in eighteen eighty seven, Texas, so this was
built it says nineteen oh seven, so very very very
old school here, and yes, I would love to detect you.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
Is nineteen o seven, So that's that's old for your area.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
That is old for our area. So yeah, oh and
that's what I see. You'll never get it. Yes, pottery
on the grid around with some blue and white. Yeah,
so treasure hunting as we're we're doing the podcast here,

(04:06):
so that's that's always fun. Yeah, do a.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Little bit for me because it's it's snowed this morning
and it's cold, and yeah, I miss we had we
had a fake spring again.

Speaker 2 (04:25):
The fake spring, and then now the cold weather moved
in again.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Al ways.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Always well, hopefully hopefully when I get up that direction
in a few weeks how many days now we're counting
how many days now, I don't know. Well, I'm going
to bring the warm weather, I tell you right now,

(04:53):
so fifteen days. So in fifteen days, I'll be bringing
the warm weather with me. Please, and when I do,
you know that'd be nice. So I'll be bringing little
Texas warmth sunshine with me. In that way, yeah, we

(05:14):
can have some fun treasure hunting and not have to
wear the cold. You know, the were the different layers,
too many layers anyway, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
You don't want the fleece lines layers. That's what I've
been doing lately.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
Ooh no, no, you know I'll pass on that.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
I do have to say I lucked out. One of
our grocery stores had hand handwarmers and footwarmers are total
I think they're called. So they had a big box
and they said they were fifty percent off. So I
was like, awesome, so I grabbed. I grabbed like twenty
packs because they were ninety nine cents apiece. So I
was like, all right, this is cool. Well, come to

(05:58):
find out when I when I when they ring them up,
they were actually seventy five percent off. I was like, whoa,
we just got lucked out.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
There and there's a treasure right there.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
You find those bargains, you know, yeah, for sure, twenty
five cents you know a piece, yes, please, yes, please,
So I have plenty of those I will be bringing.
I have plenty of those that I'll be bringing with
me up to bone just in the event that it
is cat of chili, because I'm pretty sure last year

(06:35):
the Garrett Day I helped out, you know obviously Treasure
Vortex podcast.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
It was cold, yeah, and you know how it is,
even usually when it warms up, it starts out where
you know, we're your area in that area usually starts
out you know, cool in the morning anyway, and then
I'll warm up and then it'll you know, get again.

(07:00):
So it's nice to have those handwarmers and warmers or
whatever you got, you know, to just do that that way, well,
you know, uh, to help get us by until the
first warmer, yes, yes, so we can get out there

(07:21):
and hunt.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
And then yesterday was actually the first like not first,
but it was. It was. It was nice out. It
was really nice.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
After it stopped downpouring and snowing in the morning, it
got warm and sunny and it was gorgeous and I'm like, ah,
And I got out back for a little bit and
picking up sticks and kind of looking at my garden.
It's too early to do anything like that, but just
looking and uh I looked down and I had a
tick on my pants, and I was like, oh, my gosh,

(07:52):
son of a.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Gun, just found a penny a coin on the ground
while we're going here. But yeah, well hmmm.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
It was a teeny teeny teens tiny but yeah, it's
not a great sign. But I didn't I didn't spray
myself because it had been freezing and wet and cold.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
And does this mean I need to bring some tick spray?

Speaker 1 (08:21):
I mean, I'll have it. Yeah, I'll have it. I'll
have it. Probably some duct tape. I wish. I wish
last year when we were in the woods I had
brought some duct tape because I would have absolutely duct
tates my pants and my boots.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
Yeah, because did some get in there?

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Well, I think I think I ended up finding one
if I remember right.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
I had one get in that way while I was
in Missouri, So you know, mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
It's bound to happen, but it's it's it's for those
that haven't gotten out yet to let you know if
they are out.

Speaker 2 (09:06):
It's a great little thing. A cute little dogs. Cute
little dog playing ball right now.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
That's fun.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
You are a and the sun feels great.

Speaker 1 (09:17):
You are everywhere tonight. I'm a squirrel, kitty simmer.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
There literally was a squirrel. There literally was a squirrel
while ago, but you were talking, so I didn't want
to interrupt you with a squirrel. It's this key little
dog right now with the cute little ball, his little treasure,
I guess, or her little training. So yeah, I cannot wait.

(09:48):
And I ve been seeing some pictures from last you
know time pop up, you know, yeah, so memory.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
Yeah, I did. I talked to I talked to our
buddy Laura. She can't make it.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
Oh she's not gonna be there. No ah, well that's
that's that stinks.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
Yeah, I do. You know. There's a bunch of people
coming and that we do know, so that will be good.
It's always fun scene. Yeah, I've seen it forever because
right now this is the only hunt on my entire
docket for the year.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
So oh gosh. Well that means when thing's clear and
you save up some days. Texas is on the agenda
for the fall Uh, there's no you know what that means.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
Yeah, no, I don't. Actually, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I don't.
I've already used so much of my time off.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
You've got time to build it up after a bounce.

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yep, I sure you. But I know Flint's going to
be there. I need to write Scott and see if
he's going to be there.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
Oh yeah, yeah, definitely.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
I know. I think everybody got the email or it
was on Facebook or something that Brad from Green Mountain
won't be able to attend. I mean, he's been going
every single year. Non he can't attend. I think why
family obligation. I think, honestly, it's April and I think

(11:33):
it's New Hampshire school vacation week. Oh yeah, so maybe
it could be. I know that school vacation they have
April vacation, so at some point and then he's been
going every year for like I don't even know.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah, so it'd be nice if he could pull away
one day. But we all understand that.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Yes, especially how many years of dedicated going and where
you just to say squirrel.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Yeah, so the dog's chasing the ball and then there's
a squirrel over there by the tree and the squirrel.
It's so cute. Uh sorry, hard for me to focus
right now, but yeah, I'm so ready. And I saw

(12:23):
that you got some new stickers.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
I did. I did. I'm not sharing them with anybody yet.
I sent them to you. I sent a picture of
it to you. And then there's only one other digger
who knows and kind of helps me with it for
a minute.

Speaker 2 (12:36):
And well, I'm just excited. They're beautiful. I cannot wait,
and I can't wait to get one myself, hopefully put
one on.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Did you recognize the buttons?

Speaker 2 (12:48):
I did? I did, And that's one of my favorite
pictures and I'm so glad you chose that, and it's
just perfect.

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I was so much fun at the buttons.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
I won't even give any hints. I won't give any
hands buttons.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Buttons had button dump Yep, I loved it. It was
like when we went for like, what was it three
days we were down there digging the first time I
brought we went, I brought you to the button dump.
Or maybe it wasn't maybe it was just two days.
It was after the very first pound the ground dig stock.

(13:24):
It was pound the ground though. I grabbed you and
we went back to my place, and then from my
place we headed down to Rhode Island and we dug
the button dump for a couple of days, and then
I had to get you back to Vermont to fly out.
Wasn't that the very first Maybe?

Speaker 2 (13:48):
Yeah? Yeah, I think so. Okay, I think so.

Speaker 1 (13:52):
I've been trying to trying to figure out.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
The button up. Go ahead, you know, well, besides you button,
the one thing that's been popping up for me lately
is mudlarking and you know, or yeah, you know.

Speaker 1 (14:11):
But as she was funny because I just looked at
John yesterday yesterday, and I was like, I have to
I have to at least get there for a day,
even if it's the ten hour drive, five hours there,
five hours back, just to go for one day. You
have like a month's worth of stuff to clean up

(14:32):
and kind of pick through, and you do.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
And you know, I probably still have some more stuff
that I have not cleaned up from last time.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
You're gonna just keep finding it, That's all that is.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
I just I know, well, that's some of the spring
cleaning that I want to do is in my relic room.
You know, someone up real soon is I really want
to go in there and organize some of the stuff.
Get me some new riker cases, and what I would
like to do is, you know, take each one from

(15:05):
different hunts, you know, and put them in the in
the cases and stuff like that. So exciting and organize
that and clean those vines.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
So yeah, I as you just said, you just found
a bag. I just found a you know a lot
of people have the tackle boxes, the flat one layer
plastic cases that you kind of put stuff in. I
just found one that has it's all stuff from our
favorite beach. And I'm like, I haven't seen this before.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
When did I put this? You're like, where did where go?

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Yep, yep.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah. It kind of piles up over winter, and I
know winters are time to do that, but it tends
to happen more in the spring for me. I don't
know why.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Yeah, it doesn't hurt to have his spring. The spring
has sprung. I mean all of our all the greens
are shooting up. I think our dandylions are daffodils are
gonna be blooming here soon, So that would be exciting. Yeah,
that's a sure sign. I go by the my digging
fields yesterday too, and I'm like I'll see you this

(16:16):
week hopefully, but reminds me I gotta actually charge up
my detector.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Well, the daffodils are already more nice doing their thing here.
And boy, I've been noticing, you know, when I go
on those drives out in the country, when I see
those daffodils, I'm like, oh, you know, hey, I might
need to go find out who owns that property. There
was a house right there, so that's paramony.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yep. There's been a couple of those as well, and
a couple that I'm like, oh, that property is gone.
Look at the building. When did they do that?

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Right? You know, I'm what's my opportunity?

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Yep. I didn't even know that they were going to
be doing construction type of thing. That's how quick it was.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
It happened so fast sometimes and I hate that, and
that happened so true.

Speaker 1 (17:18):
I might have two pieces of silver, like actual minted
silver for to give away at bone, that is, if
I can figure out so I thought. I don't know
if I had boughten six pieces, I bought six pieces
and sent out four to the different hunts this past fall,

(17:39):
or if I forgot to put two of them in
a box that was supposed to go to a hunt.
So I have two treasure Vortex coins and on the
back is a piece of silver. And I found them,
all right. I found them a few days ago, like
actually not a few days ago, like a couple of
weeks ago, and I was like, uh, oh, those were

(18:00):
I think these were supposed to go somewhere, and I
set them somewhere. I'm like, oh, that well, I guess
I'll be bringing them to boone. And then this weekend
I started doing, you know, putting all the coins and
sleeves and started putting them in the baggies and all
that stuff, and I was like, where did I put those?
So I've been searching ever since. I've been searching to

(18:24):
try to figure out where the heck I put them. Really,
I put them somewhere.

Speaker 2 (18:30):
You're going to tell you if you need some extra
little baggies and things to fill for your little prizes
and stuff. So I had a bunch of stuff that
I had pre ordered for my hunt that came in
way later after, and I could bring those for extras
just in case you need them.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Awesome, Thank you appreciate it. I don't. I was trying.
I was trying to get feedback. I posted on Instagram
and Facebook and was asking, so, I honestly can't remember
when I started the grab bag, and I think it
was like maybe twenty seventeen.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
The Pound the Ground wasn't it.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
No, it was way before that. It was some haunt yep.
I think it was a hunt in either Massachusetts or
Rhode Islands, and I just okay, so it was either
it was before Pound the Ground. It might have been
the original original Pound the Ground that was in Rhode
Island or in the Beep the Beach or the Penguin Dick.

(19:36):
I don't know, So that's why I posted what I
posted and was like, hey, if you've gotten one of these,
or if you've got one of these before, can you
tell me what you found or what you grabbed and
what hunt when. And it's been fun because I did.
I forgot some of the stuff I put in those bags,
so that's interesting too, right, But it's also allowing me

(19:56):
to go, hey, did you actually like getting the little relic?
And everybody's been like, oh, yeah, it was fun, but I.

Speaker 2 (20:06):
Don't know, yeah totally, And I have no.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
Idea where I was going with that. Oh yeah, So
I was working on the bags, can't find the silver
and uh, yeah, no idea.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Hopefully, well, I will bring some extra for you. So
I think there was some half dollars, silver half dollars
and some I think a few silver dollars and I
forget what all else. So anyway, I'll bring and we'll
go for.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
The Sure we can come up with something fun to
do for people to win those as well. At the hunt.

Speaker 2 (20:44):
We definitely could, totally could. Sounds sounds great.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Yep, because I was looking at the point card and
thinking about actually printing up a whole.

Speaker 2 (20:55):
Bunch oh like the bingo thing, either.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
The bingo or the one that I see. It's a
treasure detecting point cards. So a piece of cancelat you
get a point I think that might be easier for
a one day instead of the bingo. The bingo might
be kind of hard for a Yeah, it might be.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Yeah, I do like the idea though, of the of Yeah,
I think if you put if you put the scorecard,
cancelob pull, tab, et cetera, et cetera, I think that's
a perfect perfect idea.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Yep. So if you get a piece of cancelaw, even
if you get a hundred pieces of cancelaw. It's only
one point. You get a pull tab or a hundred
pool tabs. It's one point. A bottle cap, silverware, buckle,
Harmonica Reid, a bell like a key is two points.
A coin is two points, and it's it's pretty easy.

(21:56):
Like instead of like you need to find an Indian headpenny,
it's just coin. So if you find a coin, but
if you find, you know, native a bucket list item
and it gets voted on and you get points for everything,
and then whoever has the highest points by mid mid
day maybe you can win something.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
A great idea. I think that's wonderful cool, So yeah,
if you need help with making that or anything, just
let me know.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Sounds good, sounds good. Well, it's been fun catching up
with you. I know you're on the road right now.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Yeah, out of town and I being summoned right now,
So all right, I have to go.

Speaker 1 (22:49):
It was great catching up with you and everybody. I
hope you have a great week and happy hunting.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
Happy hunting all next week. Hm.
