Speaker 1 (00:07):
Nil nil could word not want your back and doors?
(01:21):
Hey y'all, and welcome to the Treasure of Vortex podcast
with Gypsy Jewels from YouTube's zero Discrimination as well as
her website Gypsy Digs. And she's also been on Beyond
Oak Island, which is pretty amazing. And myself Amanda Digger
to guys, I know that we have not got to
(01:41):
catch up since Gypsy was at Digstock, so we'll bring
her on in. And hey, Gypsy, how are you tonight?
Speaker 2 (01:51):
I'm doing great? How about yourself? I am good of
the weather in Maine.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
It's cold.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Yeah, Spring fools, spring too has gone and it is chilly.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
A wow.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
And I think maybe this upcoming weekend and next week
will be back in the fifties and sixties, so that
will be beautiful.
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Oh that sounds nice. Well I can tell you this,
but it's eighty one degrees right now. That's what my
car I'm driving right now, so headed to Dallas in
the morning I leave. I'm meeting I'll talk more about
that in a minute, but anyway, yeah, it's eighty one
right now on my car. I think it got to
like eighty six today. It was supposed to be like
(02:42):
a high of eighty four, and I think it got
hotter than that. Because today was such a beautiful day
and I needed to clean the back of my car
out because you know how that goes. Oh yes, you're
a treasure hunter. So yeah, that's where I spent most nights,
well part of my day, not the whole day, but
(03:04):
it was a perfect day for doing that, cleaning the
back part out. So I had to drag just about
everything out. And you know, all that dirt that falls
down from your shovels and your bag and all that
good stuff in the back, it accumulates. So I had
(03:25):
to clean all that out, put a bunch of stuff
in my relic rooms because I had to make room.
I had to make room for So so tomorrow morning
I'm meeting Maureen at Garrett Manufacturing in Garland and we
(03:48):
are headed to the Ozark Counts in Arkansas, and so
we're taking my vehicle and anyway, long time for a
short I had to get rid of a bunch of
my stuff in the back I normally carry. You know,
how would you and I like to be prepared? Yeah,
(04:09):
you know, you got the extra boots, the extra shoes,
the extra change of clothes, the extra coils, the extra headphones,
the extra shovels. You know, the norm be prepared. So
I took a lot of that out, put it out
in my relic room, and plus a bucket that I
needed the empty, et cetera, et cetera, and I cleaned
(04:36):
out the back. So now I've got a whole section
there for us at the tables and the tent and
all that stuff to set up a booth the ozarks nice.
It should be a lot of fun. I'm excited to
see a lot of friends, of course.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Yeah, and I mean you just you just came from
a hunt.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
I did. I did turn around and going again. So yeah,
I just got back that you had probably listened the
last time. Know that I went to dick Stock over
in North Carolina and it was a blast. As usual.
We had really good weather. I will say the first
(05:19):
day I got there, that morning the wind was very cold. Well,
the first day of the hunt, the wind was very cold.
My hands were freezing, and you know me, I didn't
remember to bring the the hand warmer things what do
you call them?
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yeah, you.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Yes, those things. But luckily somebody had some sew or
had one that they pitched me and I had my
right hand, I think swimming ls. I stuck it in
my glove and it warmed up pretty fast. But by
midday it got perfect weather. It was like seventy something.
That was a little windy. Couple of mornings when we
(06:05):
first got there, just said, and we were setting up
the tent, it was windy as can be. Everybody's tent
was about blowing away. And was that remind you of yeah,
and time the ground? Yeah, and uh so this one
(06:28):
guy came by and he had because our table kept
blowing over to he had these like will they were
like the inner part, the heavy heavy metal part, not
the like once the I trying to say, not like
(06:48):
the the heavy part of the wheel anyway, And it's
hard to say, you know, after you take not the
rim part, but but the part that your rims go
on to your car, that like two big actual things.
(07:12):
I don't know, not that well, I don't know. Anyway,
he came bringing these big old heavy things over there
and said, hey, you want to wait the table down
with that? And like sure, it kept our tables and
blowing over the whole time. So that was nice, but
it was really neat meeting that guy. But apparently he
(07:34):
it's neat to see who you influenced, because this guy
said he had started detecting in December this past year,
and he said that he started with a I think
it was like a little an expensive bounty hunter or
(07:56):
something like that. And he start watching videos and he
watched one of mine, and he ended up with a
Garrett at Pro and then he watched the video of
my one with the Viper coil, and he bought the
(08:19):
Vipra coil and it's the main coil he uses. So
he said that convinced him that my video convinced him
to get the Viper coil. And it may be feel good,
you know that, you know, it influenced him and he
has been hooked ever since. He's loving his machine and
(08:42):
he is pulling out all kinds of fines and showing
fines that he had found with his at pro and
it's just really cool to see, you know that, especially
coming from a movie too.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yeah, yeah, that's awesome though.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
It was really cool. So anyway, yeah, and uh, we
excuse me, our new updates through the Vortex and got
to go get out there and we got on this
(09:22):
one home side and we were just pucking things out
left and right in amongst the iron. And I was
amazed at when you go to set the uh, the
iron boundary on that thing, and how you can still
(09:46):
I can still leave it in like zero discrimination, but
I can bump up the iron boundary. And by bumping
up the iron boundary, I can still hear my iron,
but it baked up. You know, like when you get
those big iron pieces that you don't want to dig,
like the big cloud points and carry around in the field,
(10:09):
it'll break them up just enough to where, oh, yeah,
that I probably don't want to dig that. It's a
big iron piece, you know, unless you're really wanted to
pull out all that. You know, there are times you
do want to do that, but when you're in a
saturated area like that, I was able to bump up
(10:31):
the iron boundary and then still listen to those little peaks,
and I pulled out all kinds of buttons and all
kinds of goodies. Miguel pulled out a silver spoons and
evedn't believe how many people went over that whole area already,
even the first day. We didn't get there till like
the second day. It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
Yeah, that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
It's always fun when you can actually find an iron
patch to work. I think you and I have a
lot of fun taking those at like the old Barn.
We could spend the entire day in that one area
and we can.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
I mean, that's what we ended up doing, is that
one day. And I know, Miguel pulled out I think,
like an Indian and a bunch of whaties in one
area where you know, people had already just kept when
we walked up. There was a guy over there in
that same area, but it's so well and they'll be
able to see that in the video. And yeah, pulled
(11:35):
out all kinds of cool little trinkets and odds and ends.
So his love in the vortex and oh man, I
mean it's a game changer for me because I don't
know how much I should say about this, but Miguel
(11:56):
said that he was doing a tech I forget where
they were. He was showing people that would come up
and he had these silver coins in the little baggies
and he was showing how, you know, yeah, like a
(12:20):
teen garden. You know how people like to compare, and
they like to compare their machine that they've already got.
And I don't know. I'm not I would never knock
another machine period and we know that, and uh, but
it was really mind blowing something that he was able
(12:42):
to demonstrate up against a couple of machines that with
this tiny, little thin silver coin when he put it
on its side, and even this other brand machine was
not able to pick it up and there was something
(13:03):
in and he popped it in the din moat didn't
coin mode, and I mean, you would have never even
known it was. I mean, it was a tiny, little
thin coin. It was amazing.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
So it's awesome.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
I think once people you know, really get you know
now that get some really good updates on the machine,
and it's really I think one more and more people
get out in the field and are able to use
it and learn the machine and learn how learn all
the little extras that come up to the X nine
(13:46):
versus the five in the seven or or any of
the other machines out there. You know, learning, you know
how it's always about learning all the different capabilities of
a machine. But there's some really neat stuff on there
that I'm just totally blown away and impressment. And I
can't wait. I'll wait this weekend. You know I'll get
(14:09):
to play with it some more, get out and see
what I can see, what I can find. I'm excited.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Yeah, that is exciting.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
I know one change and you were in North Carolina
for it or on your way back from it, No,
you can back. Monday is daylight savings, so it is
just now like dusk is happening, which is always a
good thing because it means a lot more time after
work to be able to try to get out. So
(14:44):
I'm pretty excited once we get nice weather to be
able to get out and dig.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Right, I mean, like right now, if I wasn't driving
and I could get out, it's perfect time, perfect weather,
and the fun and still I would have about another
hour's awesome.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Yeah that's great.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
I love, love, love summer, and especially in the summer
when it gets fought in Texas. I would say, your
mornings and your evenings for the best time anyway. So
it's nice to have those extra hours, you know. I
know we have longer days too down here. I know
it gets where you are. It seems like it gets
(15:26):
darker anything. I don't know if it's the trees or
what it is, but that's just the way it feels.
To me.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Yeah, I can see that.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
I can see that, and then tonight I'm not sure,
you know, it depends on how late you're staying up,
but it's a total lunary clips.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
And but oh yeah, I didn't know that.
Speaker 4 (15:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
I think the max like when it's fully like fully covered,
will be about three am. Ah.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Well, I don't know if I want to wake up
that early.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
I don't, but it might start very clips, did I
Let's see.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
So I usually wake up. I've been waking up like
at four a m. So maybe if I wake up,
I could go we are.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
We are usually up at three here, I'll be.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
I'll be in the city though, and I don't think
you'll be able to see it as well. Probably in
the city as you were if I was out in
the country where I live.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Yep, that's probably very true.
Speaker 2 (16:37):
Yeah, but you know, speaking of the moon and the
lunar stuff, it just reminded me of beach hunting for
some reason, and how much I wish I was at
the beach right now under the same moon. Until detecting
the two and three in the morning, I just wish,
(17:00):
oh my gosh, right now would be the time to go,
oh killing me thinking about it. Sorry.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
I actually I got out this week our neighbor, yeah
I did, but different like I got a We got
a phone call and asked, you know, I was one
of our neighbors and they lost the part to a
machinery and in like a sand pit. So I was like,
(17:34):
you know, I'd gotten off the phone. I'm like, there's
still an hour and a half left of daylight. I
was like, you know, let's go. So we get over there,
and the thing is in New England right now it
is mud season, so the sandpit is currently like a
(17:56):
mud pit.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
But I started. We searched for.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Probably an hour, hour and a half. We're looking for
a tooth of a you know, one of those big
yellow machines, and we didn't. It didn't happen, but there's
the It could be in the pit that is full
of water right now, or it might be these piles
were huge, like huge with giant rocks on top of them.
(18:24):
So I think he's gonna level it out a little
bit and then we're gonna go back and check again.
But you know, something like that, you can basically open
your machine wide up and look for it. And because
of the type of ground and dirt and stuff there is.
There's like no signals, so it's not you know, you're
(18:44):
not gonna find something. You know, you're not gonna get
a ton of signals. You're gonna hear that nose. No, exactly,
it's that time.
Speaker 2 (18:53):
So yeah, I ask here, there's many signals in the hand,
but you're taking anything else along with it?
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Now, Nope, nope, I wish, I wish. But we're at
such a level that uh no, there's no no inhabitants
or anything I think would be at that level that
they're they're working at osa. Yeah, but I was keeping
an eye out because I'm like, yeah, I was like.
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Keeping an eye out for you know.
Speaker 1 (19:25):
Possibility of fossils or artifacts and nothing.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
Nothing.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
But so but hey, oh yes, oh yes, the and
like the the boot got sucked and I'm like, oh gosh,
using the shovel trying to find a rock in the
mud to be able to step on across and stuff.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
It was fun. It was you know, it's fun searching.
It stinks when you don't find it. So I'm really hoping,
you know, to get back out there this weekend and
find it.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Well, good luck, I sure you do. And you know,
I'm sure if it's there that you will find it.
It just might take a little while.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah, if it's in the pit, I mean, I've got magnets,
so figured we do the detecting all around first.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
Okay, what's it made out of iron? Okay, yep, it's
a big so yeah, you definitely have to have it.
Why I've been there.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Yep, it's a big iron tooth to uh like on
the machinery type thing. I'm like, all right, I've doug
plenty of smaller sized ones that would be from farm
equipment in fields because they sound really good when they're
at like a foot.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
Right.
Speaker 2 (20:51):
You know, that's interesting. That's something that I was using
the Vortex. I would probably so you have iron audio
and you have just like you do on the Max,
but you have iron audio. But then you also have
where you can turn the iron audio off and you're
still hunting and your discrimination and for that, I would
(21:13):
probably turn the iron audio on so I would hear
the iron instead of like the grunt. I would be
able to hear it a little stronger, probably what I
would do.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
So it makes sure you've got that good because there's
times I do I want to find iron stuff. So
I have I have a program on my perfect equinox
perfect but hopefully you never know, maybe and you are
(21:52):
headed to the ozar hunt. Yeah, you have no The
dig stock is a natural?
Speaker 3 (22:01):
Did they also do a seated.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Or was it just strictly natural this past time?
Speaker 2 (22:05):
This year they didn't do a seated, so it's all
natural this year, every bit of it so?
Speaker 3 (22:11):
And is the the Mozarks is that a seated?
Speaker 2 (22:16):
I think it's pretty much all seated. I'm not certain.
I didn't read up that much on it because I
didn't think I was going to go, And it was
just like last week when Garrett asked me to go.
So I guess I need to look for all the
(22:37):
goodies about it. But I just know that James Huntley,
that was that was helping put on the hunt. He
was advertising about the hunt all the way back at
my hut. He came to my hunt, and it sounds like,
you know, it is going to be a major, big
(22:59):
silver high. It's pretty much just all sober. I think
even the prizes will just be metal detectors and silver,
so so this is some others stuff, but the ozones
silver should be fun.
Speaker 4 (23:16):
Cool now this is the ozon But you know, hopefully
you know how some of those hunts go en up
meeting with up with friends that say, hey, I've got
a permission.
Speaker 2 (23:29):
Over here, let's go over here. So it would be
cool if something like that, because you know me, I
know you're the same way I would. I'm I mean,
those hunts are fun and I love doing doing them,
and I mainly love doing those just to you know,
(23:49):
meet up with the people, friends and stuff. But the
natural hunts is is more what I'm about. Yeah, I
know you are as well.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
So it's called the Ozark's Silver Horde Hunt and it's
March fifteenth and sixteenth in Dardanelle, Arkansas. So that was
the question last night. Someone was asking that's the.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Question last night and I was like, what are they
talking about? Dardanelle, Ardell? And I felt so so Yeah.
I did a live stream last night on my YouTube channel,
and Amanda, like the amazing person she is, she's like
my only moderator. She popped on and waited out the show.
(24:39):
I think I did what about forty fifty minutes, but anyway,
she moderated it for me. And I'm live streaming on
my phone, and so the lettering is so little. I'm
trying to read read before it disappears. And somebody kept
asking me, are you going to the dark now or whatever?
(25:01):
And I'm like, what is that?
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (25:04):
And I didn't know, so I just kept asking the
question for the person and I'm like, I have no idea,
and I'm trying to make sure, Like did I spell
it right the first time? I did it the second time?
I'm like, I don't, I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
And I know what I've already said. I've said many
times that I was going to these our time. I
just didn't know the name of the town and I
didn't even book the hotel, so, uh, they booked at
Garrett when they hadn't booked the hotels for us, so
I had no clue.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Yeah, and I think me I'm.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
Back with names anyway.
Speaker 3 (25:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
So I think the Masters of Metal will be there
as well for the that competition.
Speaker 2 (25:46):
Yeah, and they were at they were at Gigstock as well.
Got to see Debbie, So I'll get to see Debbie again.
Nice and it's always awesome.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Actually, looks like Garrett is sponsoring a hunt on Saturday.
It's the four pm to six pm Super Silver Hunt.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Okay, yeah, that might be the one where I know
they sent a head. I think they sent some board
texes for people to win, and I think er I'm
not certain, but it may be that Maureen and I
go plant a bunch of Garrett jokins. I'm not for
certain on that either. They just know that Garrett Garrett
(26:36):
donated a bunch of stuff, so there should be a
lot of great prizes and a lot of silver and
all kinds of stuff.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
It's awesome.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
And we gave away too. I know that we gave
away two board texas at gig Stock at the Garrett Chance.
Plus there was another Bortex given away at Ye Matt
and Up. I don't know if it was a you
(27:11):
know they do the other.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, very cool. So if there were three
Vard Texes, so we have the three new Vortex users
out there. Hopefully they got a chance to use detectives
this past week. That's fun, right, very cool. I wish
(27:38):
again maybe I'll be searching piles for a missing tooth
and not a tooth like a human tooth, but a
tooth to uh industrial piece of equipment right, also hoping
to get out larking. I think my favorite spot. I
think the gates are reopened, so I'm pretty excited to
(27:59):
check that out as well. I've got way too much
stuff going on this weekend. There's like, you know, I'll
try to get over there to find the tooth. I've
got this, that, and the other, and then I'm like, oh, yeah,
I want to go mudlarking. Not enough time, not enough time.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
Never never enough time, that's for sure. And we got
a trip coming up before too lo. Yes, did I
will get to see you?
Speaker 3 (28:28):
Yes? I'm excited from that.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
I like actually started going through and seeing what I
had and I do need to I probably will make
a post on Facebook and Instagram just to see I'm
going to actually bring.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Up those little the goodie bags.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
I want to know how many people that are on
my friends lists have gotten to pick one of those
at and I want to know what they might have
got and what hunt did they meet me at?
Speaker 2 (29:00):
Curious that's a great idea, find out what.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Yeah, Plus I'm trying to think of ideas that I
can't remember what I did in some of these, so
I'm like, you know, what if I do that, maybe
I'll get some get some help to put it together
the good goodie bags for for Bone, and I also
have some other stuff going on for that as well. Yeah,
(29:25):
I'm excited. I'm excited to see you and Miguel and
a whole bunch of people from that area. And honestly,
I'm just excited that the snow is going away so right.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
And I heard word today too that the rooms were
booked gil Awesome, ready ready, ready, ready, very.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
Cool, very cool. I feel like I've spent so much
time at that hotel. It's always like because it what
there was, the two hotels hotel. Last time we were there,
they were building two new.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Ones, but.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Forgot, I guess it's the same one now, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Awesome. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
I like the fact that it's got that outside sliding
the back door.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yes we can go out, yep.
Speaker 1 (30:23):
I like that to make sure that when you get there,
you get there actually a little bit earlier, and you
ask is there any way to be on the main floor.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
That way you can be right.
Speaker 1 (30:35):
Right door, because if you're at the top, it's kind
of pointless to have the sliding door.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Yeah, totally.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Bringing the gear in and out is awesome through the slider,
that's for sure.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Yeah, because you can. You can back up your vehicle
right there and just put your detectors in and out
your supplies. Perfect.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (31:02):
Well, I am super excited to hear how the hunt
at the OZARX goes and.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
Who you get to meet.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
And you know, if get pictures, you could post them
tag us.
Speaker 3 (31:14):
It'd be great to see.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
All right, I sure will, I sure will. And before
because there was someone or a few people that had
taken a photo while we were there. One I know Axel,
we had him on the podcast before. Ye, but several
people that were like wanted me to tell you hello
(31:41):
and that we're wishing you were there, We're wishing you
were there, and took photos with me and they're like,
Ohmanda was here.
Speaker 1 (31:49):
But anyway, yeah, I saw you were pictures with Joe
and v.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
It all looks fun. It all fun, and I actually
I just realized something. So people, all of you listeners,
you're you're in the future right now because we are
actually filming this on Thursday the thirteenth. I'm not filming
recording this on Thursday the thirteenth, and you will when
(32:22):
this airs, you will be on your way back from
the Ozarks.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
So right, right morning.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Yeah, oh so maybe we'll get to maybe we'll see
maybe so yeah, who knows. We could be airing this tonight,
the thirteenth, and then filming on Monday.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
I don't know.
