Speaker 1 (00:08):
Nil Man couldn't ward want your back doors? Hey all,

(01:21):
and welcome to the Treasure of Vortex podcast with Gypsy
Jewels from YouTube zero discrimination as well as her website
gypsydigs dot com and myself Amanda Digger Doguyz. I am
on all platforms as Digger Degauz and that's d E
g A z And so yeah, for those of you

(01:42):
who are like I don't know how to say your
last name, it is Degaz. Let's see, it is Monday,
it is sunny. It is actually warm here, and I
don't have to hear about Gypsy's eighty degrees. Well it's
snowing because that was this weekend.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
How are you doing, I'm doing wonderful. I wish I
was out detecting because it's gorgeous here too, but it
would have been a little hot today, so you know
me when when it gets this kind of weather, I
wish I was out in the water, but.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
No, here was a sixty two degree sunny day, light breeze.
So yeah, it was a perfect New England dig day
for those people who you know, could have gotten out.
I worked from five to five to four, so no

(02:37):
digging for me, sadly, and then yeah, it was oh,
very nice, very nice. I know, on Saturday, I think
I sent you a picture. We'd got like, I don't know,
two inches three inches of snow. Woke up and there
was expletives, It wasn't very happy and.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
I couldn't even when I saw that and.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
You sent me it was eighty degrees there and sunny.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
I'm like, of course, of course, of course, of course. Yeah,
we've been getting this gorgeous weather, and I you know,
when it gets this kind of weather, I just want
to be out, you know, either swing a metal detector,
mud larking, dump digging. But then when it gets to

(03:25):
be over ninety, you know, it's like I'm ready to
get in the water and do some water hunting or
you know that kind of thing. But I did get out,
So were you able to get out? Oh I guess
you weren't.

Speaker 1 (03:36):
Because no, yeah, it snowed. And then yesterday it was
all right in the morning, but obviously I had house chores, groceries,
stuff like that, living day things, and then right in
the afternoon, actually this afternoon and yesterday afternoon, I started
picking up the branches. We had some really crazy storms

(04:00):
this past winter, so yeah, I was working on cleaning
up branches and stuff like that, so Nope, didn't get
out in that way. I did hum. I got I
think ninety five of the little Baggie's done this weekend
as well, so I guess the rain was needed for
me to actually sit down and get it done. Yeah, yep.

(04:21):
And then I found our treasure Votex banner. I found
the tablecloth, I found the yard sign. So I'm kind
of putting everything together for Bone. I've got the pop
up and tables and chairs, and I know Miguel's going
to be doing for Garrett with you a test garden

(04:43):
one Thursday of next week, so there's that. Thursday, the
twenty fourth is Garret Day for Bone and that should
be a lot of fun if you're interested. I know
there are different days, are different events, and I'm not
sure if they're sold out or not, but you could
definitely reach out to either Gypsy or myself. They do

(05:06):
ticket pricing per day, or you know. I think there's
a couple day pass you could get. I believe it's
what is it, Wednesday through Sunday? I think, yeah, Wednesday
through Sunday. I've never actually been able to I think
maybe once I went the entire time, and it was, oh,

(05:27):
I don't know, many many many moons ago. Other than that,
I haven't been able to because I, you know, getting
ready to go to Bone and then I fly out
on Monday the following that Monday for Tennessee, so packing,

(05:48):
packing for Bone and packing for Tennessee. Except for Tennessee,
I've got I've got no free time. I pulled up
all the itinerary and everything, and unless I, you know,
at midnight or like a eleven PM, want to go
find someplace to dig, it's not happening. Yeah. No, I

(06:09):
don't think so, because I still have to I have
to present for work and stuff like that too, so.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
Oh you do, wow, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I help out. Yeah, I'm doing a couple sessions, I
guess or something I don't know. Yep. So yeah, no,
it'd be cooler if, like it's been a while. I
think we were in California for work and we got
an afternoon, like an impromptu afternoon off, and I was
psyched because I did bring my detector and we were

(06:40):
staying on the beach in San Diego, so I was
able to detect and found a white gold ear ring
and you know, a bunch of modern coins, but the
white gold earring. Like I was like, yeay, but this
where we're staying in the city, Like we're staying right
in Ashville, like no years, so I don't think. Yeah,

(07:04):
even then, I was like, is there a place to
even visit? Like no, I don't think. So. Everything's music,
which is cool, never been, well.

Speaker 2 (07:13):
I love the music. Yeah, I've only been once. Uh,
but I may be going again soon with a friend.
We'll see, well that works out very soon actually, but yeah,
that sounds pretty cool. I I know how it is

(07:37):
when you're on a business trip. It makes it that
much harder to steal away and do all that. So
but it would be cool if you could, even if
it was just exploring like a little spot or something.
But I know that's probably almost near impossible.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
Yeah, I think. I think my watcher and dryer or like,
if they were people, they'd be like, what are you doing?
Because I'm here, I am washing shorts and sweaters. I
need shorts and stuff, you know, lighter stuff to go
to Tennessee and I need sweaters in my fleece line
stuff possibly for Keen. So I'm like, okay, that was me.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
I was trying to wear like a lighter shirt today
and it still wasn't light enough because it's like, even
though I'm indoors and I've got the air conditioner's just
kind of like it's still has set T shirt weather
here already.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
Nice, very nice. I'm jealous. I can't wait. Hopefully. We've
had a very wet April. And oh on was it Saturday?
John was playing a show in Portsmouth, so I got
to go over and check out one of my and

(09:01):
I mean it was it was cold, like it was
bitterly cold and wet on Saturday evening. But I went
over because I'm like, I had some time to kill,
So I checked it out and there's big deep cuts
with stuff showing, and I didn't have my gloves with me.
I didn't I didn't have anything. I was totally unprepared
because I didn't even contemplate the thought of going there.

(09:25):
So definitely excited to get down there once we have,
Like I wish I could have gone this afternoon to
check it out. Saw lots of pockets of copper and lead,
which usually you know in those pockets you'll find other stuff, coins, jewelry. Yeah,
so I'm very excited to get back there once it's

(09:48):
once it's nice and I actually have time. So I
did get out, but I didn't get out, if you
know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (09:56):
I know what you mean. I really do. Well. Yeah,
I was go ahead, I was.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Gonna say, And then this weekend, I'm definitely going to
be stopping by a permission because I might be digging
with a certain somebody on Tuesday, certain somebodies, and we
have permission to detect a property that you have, Doug,
so I need to well part of a property you have. Doug.

(10:25):
You've only actually dug two of the fields out of
like ten.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Of them, so wow, yes, okay.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
They've got a lot of fields. So I got to
go check in and check in and give back last
year's stuff. But it should be exciting.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
I'm ready. I'm so ready for this trip. And I
can't even begin to tell you, well, you know, you
know how we all get excited oh yeah before especially yeah,
especially though part of it is to see you, I
get to see Miguel, And it just has to do with,

(11:05):
you know, the the possibilities of finding stuff that I
can't necessarily find here. So that makes all the difference.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Yeah, absolutely, absolutely, so you were gonna say, I know
I cut you off, and I.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Was gonna say no, no, that I was able to
get out this weekend. So first off, I had asked
Penny Hoarder, well, I don't know I should be in chat,
but Penny Hoarder, which is Shauna most of you, I

(11:48):
don't know, I know her as either or but I
had asked her, Hey, you want to go hunting. I'm
actually home this you know, weekend. Let's go hunting Saturday.
And she's like, yeah, but I'm already going to so

(12:09):
and so town and with one of our favorite people
from one of the clubs, and I didn't realize that
it was actually a club's hunt. But anyways, it was
a club hunt and I was like yes or so
we went and I get to see a bunch of

(12:32):
my friends, local detectorists and friends, which is always amazing.
And I ended up not hunting because it was a
seated hunt, even though it was at a park where
there was money unnatural stuff, I'm sure, but I ended
up helping seed the field with tokens and stuff. So

(12:54):
that was fun, and the best part was getting to
just hang out, you know, with all my friends and
out with Shauna. She's kind of got a bummed shoulder.
So anyway, I said, well, hey, you want to go
hunt in the morning sometime on Sunday. And she's like, yeah,
I'll see how I feel because of her shoulder and stuff,

(13:16):
and she just couldn't do it that next morning, so
I ended up, but one of my other friends would
message me. I said, well, I was at that hunt
and that's what I was doing. I told her. Anyway,
so I said, hey, you want to you know. Anyway,
she messaged me the next day and said it what's
she up to? And I said, well, I'm three if

(13:38):
you want to go hunting for a while. So we
ended up meeting and going. It's about an hour drive
from me to a spot where her and her one
of her friends treasure hunting bunnies had taken me before
and you would have enjoyed it because it's a dump
and it's on a creek, and so I got to

(13:59):
do a little dump digging while I was there, and
mainly creep creek hunting, and so I will be posting
a video as soon as I get it edited. Hopefully
i'll get it edited tonight and get it posted. I
was hoping to get it done today, but been busy
doing other stuff so didn't get to it today. So

(14:21):
hopefully y'all have it uploaded by in the morning for
everybody's view and viewing. But it's funny because my last
video is one a really good video in my opinion,
mainly because my dad was in it and I was
in West Texas and there was a lot of there
was a snake involved. It was just a really cool video.

(14:47):
But I really haven't had that many views on it,
not like I have been, And I don't know what
the deal is. And I don't know if it's YouTube
part of it, because you just said you've got a.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Yeah before we started, before we got on air, I
was like, oh, you have a new video out and
she's like no, And I'm like, the YouTube alerted me
today you had a new video and no, it's from
twelve days ago. I'm like, what the heck? So yeah,
I have it set to alert me. So I don't know.

(15:22):
I mean, obviously it didn't alert me, It just alerted me.

Speaker 2 (15:25):
Yeah, that's too crazy, So I don't know. Part of
it I think is yeah, YouTube with your alerts sometimes
they do like x amount. I was told like they
only put so many people that have put to get
their alerts, you know with the bell and stuff. And

(15:48):
if you're not getting those alerts, go back in read
alert that thing. Because if you're not getting alerts from
my videos when they come out, and it could be
that you need to redo it because sometimes YouTube does
weird things and only give them to you occasionally. So
we're way too late. So but yeah, it's a really

(16:10):
cool video. Fun video because my dad was in it
and we went down memory lane and uh was because
I went back to his old childhood home, you know
where he grew up. So many memories there and so
it was a fun, fun time. And then yeah, but

(16:34):
hopefully I'll get a video edited tonight and get it
up there and then we will go from there. So awesome,
thank you.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Looking forward to it, and then looking forward to watching
this the old oil camp video.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Too, Thank you, thank you. But yeah, so you would
have enjoyed it. I thought of you when I was
out there mudlarking, and I was like, wish Amanda was here,
because I knew she would enjoy it. And when she

(17:21):
ever comes to visits, it'll definitely be a place that
will have to go and uh, of course. I found
a marble while I was there, and I found great
pieces of pottery and some bottles, and I didn't find
any coins. My friend found a coin. We think it's
a buffalo nickel, but it's pretty wiped, not dred percent sure,
but she has found a shield nickel there before. Nice,

(17:44):
so yeah, so not certain, but yeah, it was it
was a blast. So I also found and I'm not
sure and I'd say in my video when I was
because you know, you never know, it was this piece
of serat. Well, I found two really cool pieces of

(18:05):
ceramic that I thought it was really cool. One had
like almost a Celtic design on it. I thought it
was amazing. Another one though, was like part of it.
Oh and what really made me think of you is
I found a doll leg and a ceramic dollg and

(18:25):
I was like, oh, yeah, creepy doll parts.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
I do. I do enjoy the creepy doll parts.

Speaker 2 (18:34):
Me too, me too. So yeah, anyway, that was That
was that, and it was fun and I'm ready to
go back again. But yeah, it started getting hot. We
were planning on metal detecting part of the park up there,

(18:56):
but it just got so hot. That we were like
by the time. The good thing is about the creek
area is that you got all the shade. And we
were commenting on how there was no mosquitos like there
was the time we were before at that spot. And
then sure enough we got up there and started sit

(19:16):
down and started digging a little where we were digging bottles,
and a few mosquitoes came out, but they were bad.
That hopefully my natural, Yeah, my natural something they didn't
want because they didn't bother me much anyway. Yeah, hopefully

(19:41):
they don't get too bad this year. I mean, we've
had a lot of rain though, so I was really
surprised they weren't bad worse than they were, so that
was good. I keep very grateful for.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
You keep walking around my property and tipping things over
like anything. Now I'm like this time you go up
and the time you come.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Down, yep, because boy, they can really man, they multiply
it too fast. It takes one rain in a couple
of days and you're like, what Ronnie's mosques come from?

Speaker 1 (20:27):
They do, It doesn't take long at all. I know
that we've talked about hunts before, and I know we've
talked about you know, lots of different things. I know
right now on Facebook. I don't know if you've seen it.
It has to do with the scdds the South Carolina

(20:47):
Dirt Diggers. Have you heard about going on with that?
And so if you.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Didn't follow it, follow it too much? Now that's where
South Carolina.

Speaker 1 (20:57):
Yeah, the South Carolina Dirt Diggers.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Is it a it's a.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
I think it's a. I think they're on Facebook, is
like a group, and then I think it's a club.
And then I know that they offer a lot of hunts.
I have looked into one, but then I was warned
away from it, and very glad I listened to those warnings.
I do know that if you if you have, if
you are listening and had booked a South Carolina Dirt

(21:28):
Digger's group hunt, and you might want to join Facebook.
And I believe it's the seated hunt review page. I
know there's a lot of people getting together to possibly
put together a class action.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
Wow, that bad.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
I think it's multiple hunts that they have not refunded,
like multiple haunts, and then this is the one that
they had. They were giving detectors to kids, or they
were supposed to be giving detectors to kids, I think
with them. Yeah, this is that same groupp.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
Okay, so well, yeah, I did read a post. It
was like a repost or a screenshot of a post,
and then people were talking about, you know, the refunds
and stuff, and I was like, I really didn't recognize
the group, So I you know, it's sad.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Yeah, you know, yep. And I just don't know who
listens to our show. Well, I do know some people
who listen to our show. And then most of the
time I'm like, no, yeah, listens to our show. It's
just you and I going back and forth, and sometimes
we have guests and friends on people. But yeah, people
definitely listen. And if you're not aware and you do

(22:52):
go to these haunts and you are listening and you're
not on Facebook, you might want to join Facebook to
have your name added. And the people know. I think
they're going to the South Carolina Attorney General on it.
So well you gotta think, well, when you come to
what wake weekend hunts, they can they get pricey one
hundred to three hundred dollars probably for a weekend. And

(23:16):
if you've got you know, one hundred people and you've
done it three or four times and you're not giving
refunds and yeah, that's not that's bad, that's that's not
good for the hobby. That's not good. You know, I
know that there's a lot of newbies that listen to
our show. I know there's a lot of people who
like going to the events, whether or not, you know,

(23:37):
you find stuff. That's one thing. Paying for a hunt,
which I got. I've been duped twice. I got I
got duped twice that I gave money and then they disappeared.
So I am And that was right when I was
starting the hobby, and that was, you know, over thirteen

(23:58):
years ago. So it's been on gooding that people do
this and their scammers, and it's totally different than going
to hunt, a natural hunt and not finding anything that
is not that's you know, that happens. That happens. But
someone taking your money and not having a hunt or

(24:18):
bringing you to a place and it not be you know,
allowed or legally for you to be on it and
then take off. Yeah, those are all bad scenarios. So
any pre warnings that we can give absolutely would rather
give you the heads up than have someone take advantage

(24:39):
of you.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
So and that's my tas right. It's sad that you
know that happens. That's so sad. And then I know
a lot of people were really upset about you know

(25:00):
what was the other one that recently canceled because you're pest. Yeah,
a lot of people were really disappointed because especially when
it came out, uh that it was released of when

(25:20):
the hunt the day that it was actually on April Fools,
and a lot of people thought it was a joke,
but it wasn't. It just happened to be the day
that they had I guess something had happened and they
had to I don't know.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
Anyway, Yeah, but yeah, I had seen that.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
It was just the clear the air that has nothing
to do with Brandon. Brandon is not a part of
that anymore, all right, So that is.

Speaker 1 (25:55):
Good to know. Yeah, April first is not a good
day to to put any.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
New make that kind of any news that people are
going to go what you're gonna question it?

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Yep, right, that's too funny. Yeah, I forgot I had
seen that. Yep. Yeah, So definitely, if if there's a
hunt you're thinking about going to, there's a good chance
at Gypsy And I may have heard of it so

(26:27):
if you'd like you know, what we thought, think or whatnot,
We're more than welcome to offer that too. I mean,
and if we haven't heard of the hunt, we'll let
you know. I haven't don't know.

Speaker 2 (26:39):
Yeah, And I'm I'm still working on I haven't heard
back from the owner about that property that I was
trying to get, so I don't know what I'm gonna
do unless I can find another property. So we will,
we will see, we'll see what happens if I could
get a property too to have one on and that

(27:05):
you know, I could have at least two hundred people.
It doesn't have to be in Texas. I've decided it's
just easier for me, but way easier, And I would
prefer as much natural as possible, and then just plant
tokens this time, prize tokens for prizes instead of doing

(27:31):
planting silver. You just have it as prizes and other prizes,
of course, but and then more natural, you know what
I'm saying. Yeah, So and just kind of do a
one day hunt again because it seems to be the easiest.
I know Nugget Nugging is doing one. I think his

(27:56):
hunt is what three hundred.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
I didn't know. You didn't even know he was doing one,
So I'm out of the loop on that.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
I think it's it's either three hundred or four hundred.
I'm not for certain, but I hear his hunts always
have a lot of great prizes and a lot of silver.
But I think it's just a one day and I
do find it much easier to just do it one day.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Yeah, and one days are good for when you're when
it's close by, that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (28:31):
Yeah. So anyway, I know we've just been working on it.
We'll see, because I've been having a lot of people
ask me, are you gonna do a hunt again?

Speaker 1 (28:45):
Yeah? Yeah, it's weird. I think there's a couple others
I heard canceled too, so I understand why people are
being like, are you doing one? So it's crazy.

Speaker 2 (28:57):
Maybe Treasure War Text needs to do one a middle middle.

Speaker 1 (29:02):
I don't know. I don't have much of extra energy
to give towards something like that right now, and I
know how much energy it takes, so I hate more
props to everybody else who has them, seriously, because it
is you know it, you know how much effort.

Speaker 2 (29:20):
I know it, And I usually end up in the
hole from them. That's where I'm like, I want more
of a natural and just through donations and buy a
few few big prizes, you know, make it more. I
don't know. But anyway, Yeah, we shall see what happens.

(29:48):
And well, anything else we need to talk about.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
I don't really have anything. I know that we'll talk
next Monday before we meet up onto Tuesday. And no,
I can't think of anything right now. We talked about
your video. How's your book doing?

Speaker 2 (30:12):
Uh? You know, Uh, it's if you selling here and there.
That's about it. And uh, I guess I need to
advertise it more. I just don't and I really don't
want to pay. I mean, I could get it in
front of millions of people on Amazon by paying a

(30:37):
monthly something so they sponsor it, but I just don't.
I can't really afford to do that.

Speaker 1 (30:45):
So I didn't even know they did that. That's crazy.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Yeah they do. I know that one Medal Beginner's Guide
meddal To techniqu book is sponsored. Now. No, they pay
for some ad monthly ad and it's that means it's
the very first one. Of course, you pop in anything
remotely close to that, it'll pop up and it'll even
say sponsored, so that means it's one that they're paying

(31:11):
for a band that's like a booster or whatever. Yeah,
but anyway, it would be nice because I do have
great reviews and got quite a few reviews on there,
so that's really nice, really nice.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
Mm hm. Anyway, right, well, it's been a week. It's
Monday night, so I apologize to everybody I know. We've
been having these short episodes. Eventually, I don't know, maybe

(31:48):
we'll have a gypsy and Amanda ramblings and then a
guest and who knows, well where this goes.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
I do have a few guests that really want to
come on.
