The Buffalo Bills traveled to the Hoosier State last week and ultimately captured their first win at the home of the Indianapolis Colts for the first time since 1998!
Buffalo's defense once again flexed their muscles, while Josh Allen helped navigate an offense without their top two wide receivers, Amari Cooper and Keon Coleman.

Ryan Wolfe and John Cimino themselves, joined by Chris Downey later in the podcast, are day-to-day with illness but no podcast gets left behind.

The guys breakdown the Bills win, their 8-2 start and more ahead of their big home date with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Speaker 5 (00:29):
Episode one six one Buffalo Bills at Indianapolis, Colts, my
Babies and if you feel like my voice sounds a
little bit different here, thanks Ryan for sharing your damn
germs virtually through the microphone. I've been sick for like
two months and now I caught it.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
I mean I was feeling better.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
Well, I hope you feel better first off, but I
was feeling better and then my youngest got another different
cold and I picked that up too.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
So I'm just I'm pee traditioning over here.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
And I comically blame you. It's actually my kid's fault.
They were sick over the weekend and I thought I
escaped it. But come Monday morning, guess who didn't escape it?
This guy?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Hey, I felt I feel better today, though yesterday my
hips and my lower back hurt.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
So I'm I'm I'm I'm on the mend.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
It's just, you know, sometimes you cough and something comes up.
Sometimes you cough and you don't. It's like a surprise,
you know, it's like a it's like a reward.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
You'll find me.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
My co host, John Samino, You'll find him all over
the internet. He's everywhere. He's he's nationwide. It feels like,
but I'm everywhere and I'm nowhere.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Like I've got my socials there, but I am finding
that I am using them much and much less as
each day goes on. Just because social media is such,
it's such a great, great, great tool for networking. But
oh my god, it is such a shitty tool for
everything else.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Yeah, I use I use X for Bill's PR and
a couple other accounts to get information for the podcast.
And that's really about it. But the Buffalo, Bill's John,
they shut down the Indianapolis Colts and the second half
cruise to a thirty to twenty victory. Buffalo improves to
eight and two for the first time since nineteen ninety three.
It's the eighth time in franchise history Buffalo has started

(02:39):
eight and two, Buffalo's first win in Indianapolis since nineteen
ninety eight, and the fifth time Buffalo has won four
straight games with thirty plus points in each game, last
accomplished in twenty twenty one.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
Now, John, team's gonna win the division by Thanksgiving.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
I believe Chris Downey said in our chat that December
one was the earliest Buffalo could clinch.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
Was it? Is it the first that could? Okay, so
right after Thanksgiving?

Speaker 2 (03:03):
So well, especially with Thanksgiving being late this year, Yeah,
you're looking a couple of days after. So that's that's
a pretty good, pretty good guests there. But I mean,
we'll talk about it here, John, But really, just on
the surface, Buffalo kind of struggled out of the gate again,
made their adjustments and boots to asses for the rest

(03:26):
of the game.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
Yeah, I mean I went now. I had to largely
rely on the trust, the podcast, group chat, and the
radio feed because I had some other commitments. I wasn't
able to actually watch the game, but from everything I
was able to tell to hear from the game, and
then of course witness your yours and Downey's roller coaster
of emotions in that chain there started out pretty pretty,

(03:48):
pretty pretty bad for the Bills where they you know,
they were trailing. I believe at some point early on
Flaco through it like I didn't. I think he threw
like an interception and all hope was there and then
all of a Suddy come back and they answered. It
was like thirteen unanswered or something like that. It was
like thirteen to ten at some point and then it

(04:08):
goes blank for me. So I rely on you for
the rest.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
So Buffalo started off seven to zero, went up ten
to nothing, and then Indianapolis scored thirteen unanswered points, ended
up heading to the half twenty to thirteen or not
not to the half, Oh yeah it did, because it
was a big It was a big first quarter, Wasn't it.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Very confused here for a second?

Speaker 2 (04:31):
Buffalo headed to the half twenty to thirteen lead, ended
up winning thirty to twenty. It was thirty to thirteen
late in the game most of the game it was
twenty to thirteen. Ended up a Tyler Bass field goal
in the fourth James Cook touchdown, and then you know,
they scored. They being the Colts scored a touchdown with
two seconds left garbage time to make it look on

(04:54):
paper look better, but still.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
The Bills way it was. It was not as close
as it would seem.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
No, No, and again knowing knowing this Bill's team before
we get into the three big things here, knowing this
Bill's team and they're penchant for adjusting and and shutting
things down. Uh, this this game played out roughly how
I expected it. What especially because with Who's coming into
town next weekend, this one had trap game written all

(05:21):
over it.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
But absolutely it did.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
And from from the stats that you'll eventually read off,
he didn't really seem to have his best game.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
No, I mean it's again, it's starting kind of slow,
making some poor decisions. Uh, it really is what it is,
you know, you look at it and you go, well,
that sucks, but also at the same time you're like, you.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Know, it happens. Things happen.

Speaker 2 (05:47):

As always, please gamble responsibly. Now wrapping up the offense,
starting off with Josh Allen here twenty two to thirty seven,
two and eighty passing yards, no touches, two interceptions, both
of which people are gonna fire up the narrative machine

(06:31):
for this one, but of course just not good decisions.
They were both not good decisions. But with that being said,
at the same time, look who Josh Allen had playing
wide receiver on Sunday, no offense to who was playing,
but he also had eight rushes for fifty yards and
a touchdown John again history being made on Sunday. Josh
Allen his fifty seventh career rushing touchdown ties him for

(06:52):
second most rushing touchdowns of franchise history with OJ Simpson.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
And you know, it's it's crazy again every every week.
I feel like I'm a broken record saying this, But
as we as we have seen the evolution of Josh
Allen through through the years, through our history here on
Trust the podcast, and now seeing him hitting these historical numbers,
and and you know, it's just it feels like yesterday
where he was like seventh on the list and sixth

(07:17):
on them. Now he's now he's tied for two on
the list. He's still trails Oj and Murders, don't get
me wrong, but now he's he's tied with her. There's
only one left. Like he's gonna at the end of
the day, it's very likely he could arguably put his
his name in the hat as one of the greatest
Buffalo bills ever. Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
I don't disagree with that one because again you look
at the stats here Treles Thurman Thomas sixty five.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
Also, I like the joke.

Speaker 1 (07:43):
You dropped there, that that is, that was what I
was trying to trying to famili you're sick.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
Even though you're sick, you're still you're still flowing the
thick with baby.

Speaker 4 (07:50):
Hey. I like it.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
The gimmick, the gimmick behind it may be a little
uh tampered, and the podcast may feel a little tampered
this week again because the more I talk, the more
I realized I probably to shut the hell up. But
that's every single day of the week, let's be honest.
But it's it's no surprise that it took us till November.
It's a little bit of a surprise it took us
this long to both be sick at the same time.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
But it is what it is.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
We make the most fat right back to Josh Allen though,
you know, jokes aside like he's only staring at Derman
Thomas and then he's gonna be one, He'll be one
of one. He's at fifty seven. You you know he's
going to hit sixty five by the end of the season,
if not more, if not get sixty six, so he'll
be one of one in that category, which is incredible.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
He raised his career rushing total to three eight hundred
and seventy two yards, surpassing Travis Henry for fifth most
rushing yards and franchise history. Henry had three eight hundred
and forty nine with the Bills. Also, I forgot Travis
Henry was on the team milestone watch as well. Jim Kelly,
if I did the math correctly, two hundred and forty
four career touchdowns with the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen two

(08:55):
hundred and forty two. Right now, he trails by two
touchdowns for the most enfranchise history.

Speaker 4 (09:01):
That would be.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
One hundred and eighty four passing touchdowns fifty seven rushing touchdowns.
And don't you ever forget that one receiving touchdown back
in twenty twenty. So again, Josh Allen continues to set
records and or set himself up to set records.

Speaker 1 (09:19):
What did you say the total for Kelly was two
forty four. I have two hundred and thirty seven.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Plus seven rushing touchdowns.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Oh, oh, okay, okay, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right,
you're right. I didn't think about that part.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
But don't worry.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Josh Allen is also coming for that passing touchdown total
here as well. He's sixteen touchdowns away from two hundred
for his career. So again, he keeps moving on up
and he keeps climbing ever so closer. Again because you
look at you look back at how talented the Bills
were back in the nineties and all of those players
that hold the franchise records. It really puts into perspective

(09:56):
just how good of a player, not only Josh Channel
has been for the National Football League, for the Buffalo
Bills alone, selfishly like that is unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, absolutely, And you know, again, it proves the point
where it doesn't matter what happened the seventeen years before
before the process began, right, If it doesn't matter what
organization you are. If you have great leadership and you
have a good system and you can get the players
to buy in, you're going to have a winning program.

(10:28):
And the Buffalo Bills in this entire time under McDermott
and Josh Allen have been a very winning, winning program.
In the National Football League like this, I think when
it's all said and done, and you know, the retirements
happen and all that stuff, and we kind of go
into that flow of rebuild and all that stuff years
and years and years down the road. I truly feel

(10:51):
that this ascension could you should be studied, because it
almost feels like in every category of development it Buffalo
has done each of those those those categories correctly. They've
beefed up, you know, they beef up there their rosters,
so the next man up mentality, they did the appropriate

(11:14):
thing to develop their quarterback and support their quarterback. They
got a strong line, they got weapons around him to
help them at least early on, maybe even this year.
You can kind of include with the Amari Cooper trade
and all of that too, that they did something for him.
But they've changed and helped enhance the running game like
they've They've done every Honestly, they've done everything right. The

(11:35):
only thing that really, the only blemish that they really
have at this point right now is Kansas City and
the playoffs. That's the only thing I think, well, and
obviously a Super Bowl appearance in a win, but I
mean those are every everything else opposite, those like elephants
in the room, have been done very very well and
seemingly with the consistency that you would have expected out

(11:58):
of the New England Patriots teams of the two thousands,
where they're not losing often, they're still winning games. Maybe
Josh Allen doesn't have the sexiest numbers every single you know,
he's got sexy, and he had sexy numbers the first
seven weeks, but maybe the last two or three weeks
they're not.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
Doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
They're still winning games and they're doing what they need
to do, and they're built, you know, build a bully, right,
Rex Ryan, that's kind of.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
What they're doing. Haven't heard that line in a while,
but yeah, I mean, yeah, you're you're you're right.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
You look at it here and you and you say
things have developed appropriately they're going. I mean, Josh Allen's
gonna be studied for years to come just because.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
It's like an exception just about every rule. I would
have expected his running ability to have begun to break
down a little bit by now because he's done he
did it so much early on, but he doesn't seem
like he's declining in that area.

Speaker 2 (12:51):
Well, and if I mentioned this last week. I'm sorry,
but I had a coworker reach out about Anthony Richardson
and say, do you see the same thing that you
see in Josh Allen or that you saw in Josh
Allen that you see and do you see any of
that Anthony Richardson. Sorry, my brain is a little foggy here.
And I said, you know, it's hard because you can

(13:11):
look at a raw talent perspective and say, there are
a lot of people who have raw talent like Josh Allen.
There are players in college right now who will be
who will get opportunities in the National Football League because
their talent may mirror it may not be the same,
but it may mirror Josh Allen. But at the end

(13:33):
of the day, the one thing you can't measure is
the dog inside of Josh Allen. And we've learned that.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
That was very quiet, but I got you.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
I appreciate you.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
Oh hold on, that's sure, Let's just make a little
adjustment here, dog.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Thank you, And yeah, absolutely, thank you. And again, that's
that's something where Josh Allen, it's it's it's it separates.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
The men from the boys.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Yes, there was a lot that he had to due
to development of the player he is today and he's
still developing each and every single week. But with that
being said, some people don't get the opportunity. Some people
don't get all the poker chips pushed to the center
of the table. Josh Allen earned that right and has
taken it and run with it, no pun intended. But
speaking of developing, guys like James Cook nineteen carries for

(14:19):
eighty yards, one touch, one reception for three targets on
five yards.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Brother, do I'm kid kidding custop.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
He surpassed three thousand scrimmageyards in his forty second career game,
becoming the ninth Bill to reach three thousand plus scrimmage
yards in.

Speaker 4 (14:32):
Forty two or fewer games.

Speaker 2 (14:34):
Wow, you get frustrated sometimes watching James Cook try to Cook,
try to dance. He's really cut that down and just
kind of hits the holes and accelerates. But something needs
to be said for the fact that he has over
three thousand scrimmage yards and forty two or fewer games,
and he's only the ninth Bill ever to do that.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Very and the Buffalo Bills have a very, very long,
rich history that dates back to the early nineteen sixties
in the American Football League. It's a lot of players
that have come through. This sypt is that there's a
lot of players that have played football and they have
down the uniform in Buffalo and Orchard Park, respectively, to
be number nine on that for that like, that's nothing

(15:12):
to sleep on either. No, more often than not, he's cooking.
He's cooking up recipes that are edible.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
I'm gonna run through this jount so you can take
a sip of whatever you got around you, because I
think they're starting to lose your voice a little. But
seven different you're okay, looking out for you. Seven different
players recorded at least one target On Sunday. Buffalo did
play without wide receiver Amari Cooper with a wrist injury,
and wide receiver Ken Coleman also with a wrist injury.
We'll update that later on the podcast. Wide receiver Mac

(15:38):
Hollands four receptions on four targets for eighty six yards.
It's really funny because coming into the game last week,
the Bills had not won a game when Coleman had
more than two Coleman, sorry, Mac Collins had more than
two targets last week.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
He gets more than two.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
This week he gets more than two, the Bills are
now two to zero in the last two games when
Mac Collins gets more than two.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Can I just share? I like this Buffalo Bills team.
I think this one is probably my favorite out of
all of the Bills teams that we've covered. And I
know we've covered some really good, really really good, exceptionally
good Buffalo Bills teams, but I like this one specifically
because they were not supposed to be in this position.
I was just a matter of facts to be the
year that we're looking at them saying, holy crap, like

(16:24):
they look they look good, they're doing. This team right here,
to me is what epitomizes the heart and soul of
the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
I think a good way to put it, John, is
that going into the season, and sorry I'm trying to
save you a little here, but going into the season,
expectations were that were just whatever happens happens, Like we
don't know that they're going to be great. So it's
like this this Bill's team.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
And I agree with you.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I'm really enjoying this version of the Buffalo Bills. And
I think it's because in previous years, this Bill's team
has had to develop into the expectations set before them,
where this year the expectations are developing around them. Yes, absolutely,
couldn't have couldn't have set it any better.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Now.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Mac Hollins on the broadcast, though he's an interesting character,
we like him a lot, mentioned on the broadcast that
mac Hollins uh doesn't use elevators anymore and actually was
was late to a meeting at one point.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Uh and and.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Was quoted as saying, quote, an elevator does not need
to lift me up to where I can go on
my own. I I did not have the mental fortitude
to process that appropriately On Sunday. I was blown away
by that because that is a very that's very.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
True and very powerful statement.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
It's very true. It's a very powerful statement. But that
in the same aspect, a car doesn't need to get
me to where I need to go on my I
could go on my own too, but it gets me
there faster. Like I don't know, pick your poison there, Mac.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
That's fair, that's fair subscribed.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
I don't know that I subscribe to that as any
sort of motivational.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
He marches to the beat of his own drum, and
he is authentic and that's what I love about him.
It's not a it's not a side and very fair.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
He's very he's very real.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Wide receiver Khalil Shakir six receptions on nine targets for
fifty eight yards is his fourth straight game with six
plus receptions, marking the six touch streak in franchise history.
Stefan Diggs has done it three times, including streaks of
fourteen and ten straight games with six plus receptions. Eric
Molds did it once, he had a six game streak,
and also Lee Evans did it once. So again, good
company there. Wide receiver Curtis Samuel four receptions on eight

(18:33):
targets for thirty five yards. Felt like the Bills are
trying to get him involved in the offense early on,
and then once they started to fall back, it seems
like the Bills turn up the pressure elsewhere. Also, tight
end Dalton Kinkaid two receptions on five targets for twenty
four yards. He left the game with the knee injury,
returned and subsequently left the game again. There will be
an update later in the show in our or our
new injury segment that we have to have because so

(18:55):
many important people continue to get hurt.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
But yeah, yeah, such his life right.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Moving over to wrapping up the defense and special teams,
Buffalo john four sacks, six tackles for lost, five passes defended,
six quarterback hits in one touchdown. Buffalo forced to turnover
in their opponent's first two drives for the first time
since they accomplished this feat on December thirtieth, twenty eighteen
versus Miami. The Bills defense has recorded at least one
takeaway in every single game this season and leads the NFL.

(19:21):
They plus thirteen turnover differential. Also pointed out by Howard
Simon on Twitter, quote, at times Buffalo Bills. At times,
the Bills defense is hard to watch, but they find
a way to get enough stops and get things done.
Today versus the Colts, not including the garbage time touchdown,
ten drives, one touchdown given up, two field goes, four takeaways,
four sacks, one turnover on downs, and they held Indianapolis

(19:43):
to two for four in the red zone.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
So again, it's an incredible day in the office. Like previously,
much better than that, I mean, you could, but realistically
that's a very very very good day.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Previously I would say, you know, Hey, the Bills are
going to just the figure it out.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
This team does that.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
I don't know if it's if it's McDermott being more
hands off to be able to help adjuster, if it's
Bobby Babbage or whoever's whoever's helping make those adjustments.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
You know, but this team natural growth and progression. It
could be a combination of all of those things. You know. Well,
you you look at.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
That, and then you look at things like how how
good uh Jonathan Taylor was in the first half compared
to the second half. In the second half, they shut
the Bill shut him down. I mean, that is that
is what we've seen. Hey, you get yours and then
that's all you're going to get, and it's I mean,
it's played. The only game that Buffalo really got burned
bad was that Baltimore game where they were just outmatched

(20:35):
and you kind of needed to get smacked in the
mouth a bit because again remember Buffalo has only lost
to Houston by a field goal, which was again poor
coaching in my in our and I would say our opinion,
and Baltimore they just got they got their they got
their asses kicked. They you know, got their lunch money.
Stole whatever you want to say, but.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
That and you know, like we've said in each of
the last two podcasts, sometimes it do be like that.
You know, it beime just gonna happen. You're gonna get
punching them up. This is a national football league, you know,
are your team could be as good as good as
it wants, but they're not immune to being punched back
a bit.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
It's all about facing adversity and being able to bounce
back from set adversity.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
Cornerback Arren Johnson bouncing back from university with his broken arm.
Three tackles, also a one sack, one tackle for a loss,
a quarterback hit, an interception that was returned for a touchdown,
a twenty three yard pick six on Indianapolis's first offensive
play of the game, the first pick six on an
opponent's opening drive since October twentieth, twenty thirteen, when Nickel
Roby Coleman picked off then Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill and

(21:37):
returned it for a touchdown. Including the playoffs, this is
Johnson's third career pick six. Both regular season pick sixes
came during the twenty twenty season. Johnson becomes the fifth
bill All time, and the first Bills defensive back to
record a sack and a pick six.

Speaker 4 (21:49):
In the same game.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
The last Bill to do it, aj Epanessa September twenty fourth,
twenty twenty three at Washington. The last player in the
NFL to do it Seattle's Devin Witherspoon October sixth, in
twenty twenty three at the New York Giants. So it's
been over at calendar years since this happened.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
Pretty pretty neat uh.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Tarren Johnson again all over the field, another guy doing
something special. Defensive tackle Austin Johnson his second career interception ever,
second picking three games. We talked about him recently, john
having never done this before in his life, from high
school all the way up to professional the professional level
now three as we.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Mean that, it's that trust the podcast Karmah, my friend.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
It's that bump. It's that podcast Bump. And Johnson joins
aj Epaness in twenty twenty three and Ron McDole in
nineteen sixty eight. Sounds like a fake name, as only
the only Bills defenseman with multiple interceptions in a single season.

Speaker 1 (22:41):
McDole, Yeah, that's definitely one of those old timy names.

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Yeah, definitely. Roley Fingers nineteen sixty eight. You're at least twenty,
so you're late.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
For single bar helmets going on.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Yeah, concussions weren't real. They still aren't apparently, dude.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Speaking of single bar helmets, you can actually, because I meant,
I have a Madden NFL Football player and I play
my franchise mode in there, and I just I kind
of got sick of like I wanted his first off.
I wanted to see if the Guardian helmets were on there.
Spoiler they're not. But as I was going to start
throwing Guardian helmets on like random like o linemen and stuff,

(23:19):
but I did find like a very like slim, kind
of like old timey helmet that I was able to
put a single bar on it. And I put it
on my running back. And it's hilarious because my running
back is is so souped up now from all of
his progressions and everything, and so he just he like
he'll he's got the stiff arm, he's got the he's

(23:43):
got the Derrick Henry style like running power and all
that people bounce off of him. But he's got this
like shitty little helmet with the single bar on there,
and I don't have a mouthguard on him or anything.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
I love it's a video game.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Who cares, Yes, it's a video game.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
But what I originally I wanted the Guardian I wanted
to see if the Guardian helmets were on there, but
they weren't because I think I understand the importance of
those Guardian helmets, but they're very ridiculous looking, and I
wanted to see if they If EA Sports perfectly captured
the cloth diaper that goes over it, Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 2 (24:14):
It's like, it's like what happened in baseball with those
gigantic helmets or the gigantic hats that had.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
Like bulletproof steel in them.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Oh yeah, you have to start.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
You gotta start somewhere in the Guardian Caps starting somewhere. Indeed, indeed,
defensive end Greg Russo four tackles, three solo, one sack,
one tackle for a loss in one quarterback hit. His
stripsack was recovered by safety Damar Hamlin on his third
takeaway at the season, and it's Hamlin's first career football recovery.
Funny story behind this real quick, John, I literally no
joke before this play had sent a message to my

(24:46):
group of friends, my group of Buffalo friends, and was like, hey, guys,
I think the Bills need to do something about Damar
Hamlin because at this point, Damar Hamlin is he's been exposed,
like he's There was a there was a long run
by by Jonathan Taylor where you could tell that like
tomor Hamlin just read the wrong hole, hit the wrong

(25:08):
hole and and took a bad angle to the ball
and got completely nuked.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
No, no, sooner do I send that message? I hit send.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
I look up stripsack recovered by DeMar Hamlin, and for
the for the young ears out there, I responded, well,
I guess I'll just go f myself. Then by F
he means fun folks. Yeah, yeah, absolutely so. Yeah, that
was a good timing on that part.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
But I think if Damar Hamlin were you know, John
Samino or another name that's not Damar Hamlin, probably might
have he might have been he might be expendable.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
Well, he on the role.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
We've talked about that, and I don't think cool Bishop
is by anywhere means any means necessary closer to being
a starter or ready. He's a rookie, right, But I really,
really would be surprised. With all of the rumblings that
we've heard, I would be surprised if Micah Hyde is
not at least on the Buffalo Bill's practice squad by Thanksgiving. Again,

(26:10):
just reading Tea leaves, I don't know anything more than
you do, but just again, it would make sense to
bring him back for the for the stretch run because
taking pressure.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
They're gonna be they're gonna be in a in a
prime position. I mean, they'll be playing their starters, of course,
you know, until they don't truly don't need to. But
they can take the foot off the gas as early
as why we said December first, perhaps, yeah, I mean
they can really begin to take the foot off the
gas once they lock the division down. If they're in
you know, if they're in it for wild excuse me,

(26:40):
a home field advantage, and then that's one thing. But
who knows if or when the Chiefs are going to
lose depending on what conspiracy theory you buy into this week.
If you buy another one that they're going to be undefeated,
then obviously you know it's not gonna happen. But if
the buff if the Buffalo Bill's end up beating him,
this week. Then they are only one back, so you

(27:01):
know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Sending a big thank you to the Cleveland Browns for
defensive tackle Quentin Jefferson. He made his Bill's re debut
on Sunday. He had one tackle solo, a sack, a
tackle for loss in the quarterback hit. He had a
really really really nice sack on fourth down to create
that turnover on downs we talked about before. The big

(27:25):
news here, John, the big big news for the Buffalo
Bills defense already pretty goddamn good. Head coach Sean McDermott
announced Monday that Buffalo would be opening Matt Mlano's twenty
one day practice windows Boy. McDermott did follow up immediately
by saying Milano will not play against Casey, but his

(27:46):
return is imminent.

Speaker 4 (27:47):
My thought being.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
That's fine, don't need him for this Case game, saved
for the next one.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
My thought being this, and I think this may roll
into the Case game as well. There's a bye week
coming up.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
A lot of guys are injured right now, a lot
of guys hurt right now. I thought you were going
to say something like, ah, yeah, that's a great idea.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
You didn't. It's okay, oh no, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
I didn't feel again a little under the weather. So
that's okay, behind the eight ball.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Just leave. I'll just leave that there.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
I'll leave that little snippet for you there because because
right now we want to take a quick commercial break,
and when we come back with more Trust the Podcast

Speaker 6 (29:39):
Now over to our unpaid intern, the one, the only,
the Holy Jackwagon, Chris Downey for around the NFL.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Chris, take it away.

Speaker 7 (29:51):
Thanks Ryan and John and John. I just want to
thank you for the kind introduction last week. Anyone, If
you don't know what I'm talking about, John decided to
call me the Holy One, and then he called me
a jackwagon. But you know, I'll take the compliments where
I can get them. And now here's your weekken recap
from around the NFL. As we talked about last week,

(30:13):
there was a big Thursday night game and that one
did not disappoint. Cincinnata traveled to Baltimore, but they fell
just short against the Ravens thirty five thirty four. Baltimore
scored twenty one points in the fourth quarter to take
the victory. The Bengals scored with thirty eight seconds left,
but their two point effort fell short despite a few
potential penalties that went uncalled on the try. We go
to Munich, Germany. Carolinas their passed last season's win total

(30:35):
with an overtime victory against the New York Giants twenty
to seventeen. First play of overtime, though Tyrone Tracy fumbled
with Panthers recovering and that eventually set up the game
winning kick. With the loss, the Giants are now slated
for the second overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft,
Will carolinafl five spots to pick number seven. The undefeated

(30:58):
Chiefs nearly their undefeated streak as the Denver Broncos gave
them a run for their money this past Sunday and
arrowhead with a close game at sixteen to fourteen. Denver
had the ball driving down another two minutes left and
their game winning field goal attempt was blocked as time expired,
keeping Kansas City's undefeated streak alive as they head to

(31:19):
Buffalo next weekend. Quick side note, though Jacret glad the
Chiefs won, it gives Buffalo a chance one to end
the streak, but also I don't rather not face a
team that took its first loss of the year, especially
a team as good as Kansas City. Regardless of how
they're playing, they're still the Kansas City Chiefs. Last week
we look at Sunday Night football. The Detroit Lions scored

(31:40):
nineteen second half points and rote to a twenty six
to twenty four come from behind victory over the Houston Texans.
Jake Bates hit field goals from fifty eight and fifty
two yard respectively to tie and win the game in
the final five minutes. Fifty eight yarder from the right
HASH barely snuck in the right upright, and his fifty
two yarder to win the game was on the left
HASH and faded right in and just tickled the upright

(32:02):
flag to give the Lines the victory. Unfortunately, though the
sack we've been the stat we've been tracking here on
Trust the Podcast. The touchdown incompletion ratio for the Lions
and Jared Goff ended on Sunday Night as golf was
a fifteen to thirty passing and the Lines only scored
three touchdowns that easily would have flipped the ratio back
to the more normal end where you have more normal

(32:23):
incompletions than you do touchdowns. Let's take a look at
the standings on the NFL. First, in the AFC, we
have a massive game in Orchard Park with huge seating
implications for the Bills in chiefs. A win for either
side really sets them up for a fast track to
that number one seed. Buffalo would still need a little
more help, but a win for Kansas City on the

(32:43):
other side, gives them a multiple game advantage over the Bills,
who currently sit in second in the AFC, and over
the rest of the AFC teams that are trying to
chase them down. Buffalo currently sits a half game ahead
of Pittsburgh in the AFC, and Houston has two games
back and Baltimore is a game and a half.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
Back in place.

Speaker 7 (33:01):
Now reminder, both Baltimore and Easton hold the tiebreakers and
had had matchups against the Bills. In the NFC, Detroit
holds the top spot at eight and one, Filly in
Minnesota are only a half game back, though Washington is
one and a half back at seven and three. Greensboro Greensboro,
excuse me, green base It's at three and six and three,
and Atlanta and Arizona lead their respect divisions at six

(33:23):
and four, taking up the final two automatic playoff spots
of third and fourth place. This has been year round
the NFL. Back to you, Ryan and John.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
Thank you for that, Chris, John.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Or look ahead here a lot going on, A lot
going on.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
First off, Tony Romo and Jim Nance are going to
hit the point of orgasm at multiple times this game.

Speaker 2 (33:44):
Not even that dude, inside, not inside the NFL. The
CBS broadcast team, the whatever they call it, the pregame
show gonna be in Orchard Park next week.

Speaker 1 (33:59):
Oh the NFL today.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Yes, they're posting up outside the stadium or inside this day.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
It's gonna be debauchery. I've got a feeling because again,
Bills fans have an extra three hours to hydrate. It's
a national, nationally televised game. Oh yeah, everybody's me watching
it and it's against the vaunted Kansas City Chiefs four
twi pm on CBS. Buffalo has some big injuries offensively,

(34:28):
first off wide receiver key On Coleman. His risk injury
was ruled out immediately on Monday. He I don't know
if they're holding him out through the bye week purposefully.
He may still actually be hurt. We'll see more about that.

Speaker 4 (34:41):
After the bye week.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
Wide receiver Amari Cooper. His risk injury is quote improving.
We'll see how the next week of practices go. The
thing I'm worried about that kind of has me trouble
that this may be a longer term thing is that
if they're rushing him back to play with a cast
on prior to the bye week to see if something
is gonna workout or something isn't going to work out.
We'll see what happens there. But again, I wonder if

(35:05):
they air on the side of caution. I know this
is a very big game against the Kansas City Chiefs,
But what's more important Amari Cooper against the Kansas City
Chiefs in week eleven or Amari Cooper against the Kansas
City Chiefs and the AFC Championship game. That's where I'm
at right now. That's my line of thinking, because again.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
I'm thinking I'm looking AFC Championship Game.

Speaker 2 (35:27):
I don't necessarily think the Bills aren't going to put
their best foot forward, but they are. The Dolphins just
moved into second place to the AFC East on Monday
Night Football with a three and six record.

Speaker 1 (35:42):
The Bills. The Bills.

Speaker 2 (35:45):
The Bills can take their foot off the gas a little. Honestly,
they and they've been They've definitely aired on the side
of caution because they've had the ability to a lot
of this year. I mean, from what I gathered, if
it were the playoffs, Amari Cooper would not be missing games.
I have not been able to confirm that, but that

(36:06):
seems fair. And we look at tight end Dalton king
Kada knee injury. There was the quote from McDermott quote,
We'll see how he fares the next couple of days.
The Twitter doctors have been pointing out they think it
may be potentially a PCL injury, which, geez, it just
all depends I guess on how he looks after practice, swelling,
how it feels, all that stuff. We will figure that

(36:27):
out and we will move forward from there. But John again, the.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
Back to back.

Speaker 2 (36:34):
Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl champions punk asses nine to
zero four and oh away first in the AFC West
last week a sixteen to fourteen win over Denver in
the last second blocked field goal which the left tackle
or whoever was on the left side of the line
got pancaked and got completely bul rushed. That was embarrassing
to watch. And I don't even care about that person

(36:56):
or that team anyways. Cutting it close, seven of nine
wins this season for the Chiefs are by seven points
or less. I want to say that they are very beatable,
but here's the thing. In games like they're sixteen to
fourteen win over Denver the Kansas City Chiefs, yes they
almost lost, Yes they win very close, but it shows

(37:18):
that their fundamentals are incredibly sound. That's how teams like
Kansas City continue to win. Again, I'm gonna skip around here.
Patrick Mahomes has two two hundred and eight passing yards,
twelve touchdowns, and nine interceptions.

Speaker 4 (37:33):
That is correct.

Speaker 2 (37:34):
He has thrown nine interceptions, hasn't thrown a pick.

Speaker 4 (37:37):
And I believe two straight games.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
But he is on pace for a career low four
and seventy one passing yards, twenty three passing touchdowns, and
a career high seventeen interceptions.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
Can I just say, as a as a New York
Jets fan, the fact that those numbers are career lows
or career highs is insane to me.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Yeah, I mean you'd take that any day of the week.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
I absolutely get that but looking.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
At that, it tells you that the fundamentals are there.
The run game is there, the defense is there. They
have been able to do what it takes to win,
winning seven of nine games by seven points or less.
With that being said, though John history once again on
the side of the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 4 (38:21):
This game is the.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Fifth game since the nineteen seventy merger featuring two teams
with eight plus wins. Prior to Week eleven, all four
previous matchups John have been won by the home team.
With that being said, ESPN's matchup predictor, fifty four point
three percent of America believes Buffalo will be the one

(38:45):
in nine to one.

Speaker 1 (38:50):
Hmm. I'm gonna agree only because I don't think Kansas City,
contrary to what everybody's I think Baltimore is that is
the team that in the AFC, opposite Buffalo, that people
need to be the most concerned about. I don't think
it's Kansas City at all. With what limited I've seen

(39:11):
from Kansas City this year, They're they're certainly playing like, yes,
they're chasing for a three peat. That is something that
if it were to happen, I mean, very very rare
territory right, But to me, this season looks like they're
a team that maybe it's starting to catch up to
them a little bit of the all of the height

(39:32):
and expectations. Do more, do more, do more, you know,
you know, try to win this, try to win this.
And I know that's weird because we're talking about a
team that's nine to zero right in Kansas City. But
they just came off of a sixteen to fourteen year
loss to the Denver Broncos, whom are five and five
and oh and are of a lucky five and five

(39:54):
at that they're not a very good team. I think Buffalo.
If Buffalo sticks to their game plan, which they've done very,
very very well this season, I think they will indeed
be the one in nine and one. Will it actually happen?
Hard to say I'm gonna I'm gonna say, I'm gonna

(40:14):
take the environment as as the as the difference maker there.
I do see Buffalo over Kansas City. But I think
it's gonna be I think it'll be very It's it's
gonna paint a picture. It'll it'll paint a picture for sure.
This is gonna be one of those games where you
wouldn't be surprised if either team won. But I think,

(40:36):
in my heart of hearts, I think Buffalo has the
momentum right now. I think they're just playing overall better
football and the environment being what it is, the nation watching.
They do very well in games where the nation, where
the nation is watching regular season games, I should say
that the nation is watching. I think this one has

(40:58):
Buffalo written all over it.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
I would agree with you on that one. I mean,
again for the mum teenth week in a row. I
don't want to sound like a Homer, but oh you do.
The Bills have made adjustments since losing to the Baltimore Ravens.
The Bills have made adjustments since losing to the Houston Texans.
I feel like I feel like at this time it's

(41:26):
something that the Buffalo Bills certainly can step up and
show the Kansas City Chiefs and the rest of America
that they are again once again for real.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
Because if you would argue if the next four games
for Buffalo is going to be telling because you've got
Kansas City, but then they play the forty nine Ers,
which they should have Christian McCaffrey back by, then you
never know what you know? You never know, right, but
call me crazy.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
It might not.

Speaker 2 (41:58):
It will matter for the overall picture how people project
the rest of the season in the playoffs, but also
it may not matter because the Buffalo Bills may use
this opportunity to rest up and get ready for playoffs.

Speaker 1 (42:10):
And that's the thing that I'm going to be curious
on seeing if they do win this game, how aggressive
are they going to be knowing that Pittsburgh is another
two loss team. Surprisingly right, you know, mister Unlimited showing
how unlimited he is. Baltimore's tough. Kansas City is Kansas City.
Regardless of what we think of some of the calls
that they're getting from the referees and all that, they're

(42:32):
still a very good team. Buffalo is very good team.
What's going to be the priority for the Buffalo Bills
if they win? Do they march forward and and try
for home field advantage or do they rest their starters
and take the foot off the gas knowing they're going
to be in the playoffs one way or the other.
They're going to win the division very soon. It's going

(42:54):
to be a very telling this.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
I mean, you want to see, you want to see
I just clicked on this. You want to see a holy,
holy crap moment that just kind of shared the life
out of me. Yes, if Buffalo, if Buffalo wins, I again,
I think that they have their They have not been
outright with with what their what their plan is, but
I feel like they're very they play their cards coast

(43:16):
to the close to the best, but they're very conservative
in terms of getting themselves ready for the postseason. Yes,
they know they're gonna make it barring an epic collapse.
But with that being said, the goal is to make
sure you have a healthy Kean Coleman, Amari Cooper, Dalton Kincaid,
James Cook, Josh Allen, and then just trying to keep

(43:37):
everybody on that defense healthy as well, making sure that
you're you're you're keeping Russell Douglas, Christian Benford, getting Matt
Malone back healthy, keeping that defensive line healthy, like doing
whatever it takes to make sure that you're still trying
to win those games.

Speaker 1 (43:52):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
But again, I mean, looking at the Bill's schedule right now,
I was not gonna bring the segment around until till Thanksgiving,
So I'm not gonna say it right now.

Speaker 1 (44:00):
John Oh, I know I know what you're thinking.

Speaker 4 (44:03):
You eighty two.

Speaker 2 (44:05):
You've got Chiefs, forty nine Ers, Rams, Lions, Patriots, Jets, Patriots.
So at least there you've got three five five games
that should be very winnable.

Speaker 1 (44:18):
So that's forty I'd say, Chiefs, Chiefs, Niners are here
and there taking taking away the Niners in the Rams.
Saying that the Lis and Lions games could go up
in the air, Yes, but I think everything else is winnable.
The forty nine ers are going to be in Buffalo.
That's that's an environment thing.

Speaker 4 (44:37):
I think.

Speaker 1 (44:38):
Yeah, that's an environment thing. I forgot about that.

Speaker 2 (44:40):
They go to La to play the Rams, they go
to Detroit to play the Lions, and then they've got
Patriots home, Jets home, Patriots on the road, which that
last jeez, we might.

Speaker 1 (44:48):
See Mitch, we might see money Mitch start those games,
those last games.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
So again, you're looking at it on the low end,
twelve wins. On the high end, fourteen or fifteen wins, like.

Speaker 1 (45:00):
It's fifteen if they if they run the table, if
they finish out fifteen and two.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
That's what I'm saying, is that the the it is,
it is possible.

Speaker 4 (45:09):
The Lions, I think are the best.

Speaker 1 (45:10):
Teen and two can you imagine that fifteen and two.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
Well, the Lions right now are the best team in football.
Their strength of victory is zero point five to one four,
which is by far, well a little above the Ravens.
But if you take the Ravens out of it, Ravens
at point five oh seven above and beyond the best
team in football right now. And I mean, you saw,
you saw how they came back Bears, and you saw

(45:34):
how they came back on Sunday Night football like that, holy,
holy guacamole dog.

Speaker 4 (45:39):
That was impressive.

Speaker 1 (45:40):
But so so the Lions have the They have the Jags, Colts,
Bears the next three weeks, then they have the Packers, Bills,
and then they finish they have another one with the Bears,
then Niners and Vikings.

Speaker 2 (45:53):
And Houston, and look at Houston would have to win
out if the Bills only lose two more games, just
spitballing here, the only team that would be able to
leap over, I mean, would be Baltimore. But again, you're
you're probably looking if the Bills don't win on Sunday,
or even if they win on Sunday, probably between a
two to four or two to three. I'm thinking two

(46:15):
or three seed is it? Because again, yeah, you ready
for this one? John, are you sitting down? You've locked
in your seatbelt.

Speaker 1 (46:21):
Here, I've locked in. Pittsburgh is seven and two unlimited.
He's unlimited.

Speaker 2 (46:27):
I'm telling you Rus unlimited, unlimited. You're ready for this one.

Speaker 1 (46:31):
Hmm.

Speaker 2 (46:32):
Versus Baltimore at Cleveland, at Cincinnati versus Cleveland at Philadelphia,
at Baltimore, versus Kansas City versus Cincinnati.

Speaker 1 (46:39):
This is Pittsburgh. That's Pittsburgh. Holy cow, that's that's that's
quite the that's quite the schedule.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
Yeah, you're looking. You're looking.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
Maybe maybe on paper, maybe you sweep Cleveland. Uh.

Speaker 1 (46:57):
I don't think you're beating Baltimore. You're definitely not beating
the Bengals twice.

Speaker 2 (47:02):
I mean, we saw how the Bengals played the Ravens.
The Bengals are good. They're just lacking in the parts
where it takes, you know, win a football game. Philadelphia
hit or miss, like it's about to get real for
the Steelers and.

Speaker 1 (47:14):
Again, they could run the table. They could be Wow.
This team is part of This is a part of football.
I both love and hate as a fan of another team.
I hate the fact that they're not in that they're
not in the mix, right. But as a football, as
a fan of the sport, God, I love when it
starts to shape up like this.

Speaker 2 (47:32):
Yeah, because again you look at like Buffalo. Their strength
of victories point three five five not great?

Speaker 4 (47:40):
But what do good teams are? What are good teams.

Speaker 2 (47:43):
Always able to do?

Speaker 4 (47:44):
John?

Speaker 1 (47:46):
Win the game, find a way to win the game,
find a way to win the game. Doesn't matter.

Speaker 2 (47:51):
To win the game precisely doesn't matter if the opponent's good, bad,
or and different. So again, John and I, we're all
in on the Bills.

Speaker 4 (47:58):
Man. The Bills are going to be the one in
nine and one. Yes, and and we'll move forward from there.

Speaker 2 (48:04):

for Johnson. You know, I'm Ryan Wolf.

Speaker 4 (48:09):
Were trust the podcast, You're not.

Speaker 2 (48:12):
We're gonna go take care of ourselves, get some medicine,
drink some I don't know, coffee, tea, whatever, whatever your
fix your elixir is, I guess is the sole.

Speaker 1 (48:21):
Yeah, right right now, some tea with honey. But we
also did forget one very important thing to close us out.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
Oh don't worry, I was gonna get there before we
close up shop.

Speaker 1 (48:35):
No, one circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 2 (48:40):
Again, thank you for tuning in, Thanks for listening each
and every single week. Uh. Friends out there on New
Friends on Blue Sky, please, by all means say hello.
I'd be more than happy to chat about the Buffalo Bills.
But again, John, thanks for tuning in. I hope you
feel better, but thanks for joining me.

Speaker 1 (48:59):

in JC next week.

Speaker 4 (49:02):
