some point in my life I will try that.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
You know, what works, Wonders is just not giving a
ship about anything, and that usually tends to work out
for people.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
Mm hmmm mm hmm.

to stay up to date and latest podcast John. As
we predicted last week, ladies and gentlemen, the Buffalo Bills
have officially become the one in Kansas City's nine to one.
They defeated the Kansas City Chiefs, and boy, oh boy,
(03:28):
every goddamn second of it, and real quick, I understand
that the Bills are undefeated in the regular season against
the Chiefs, but winless against the Chiefs in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I don't I don't want to hear. Honestly, I don't
want to hear that.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Jazz, big fat butt here though, John, what do you?
What do you always say?
Speaker 1 (03:52):
What do you do? I say a lot of things right?
Speaker 2 (03:54):
You can't, brother, I want to get you on your
on your toes.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
There.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
You played it when the game.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
You played it within the game play to win the game.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
The most recent game in front of them was the
undefeated world beating Kansas City Chiefs. They roll into Orchard
Park fall to the Buffalo Bills twenty one to thirty
in what really was a phenomenal game for the Buffalo
Bills all around.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
There were some mistakes. Really enjoy watching these games between
these two. They play really good football games.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Here's the thing, and we'll get into this, but just
on the surface, it shows you how far this team
has come. Now, John, there are a lot of a
lot of stats here about the team in general. Buffalo
nine and two through eleven games. They've got nine wins
and eleven games. Just take them for what it's worth.
It's their best start.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
I see what you did there, Thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Their best start since nineteen ninety two when they were
also nine to two. The six time in franchise history
of the Bills have a nine and two start or better.
The eighth consecutive home game for the eighth con sectative
home win in the regular season for the Buffalo Bills.
The fourth such streak of eight plus games in the
first sense of franchise record fifteen game home win streak
happened in nineteen ninety through nineteen ninety one. It is
(05:10):
Buffalo's sixth straight win mark in the eleventh time in
franchise history that Buffalo has recorded a win streak of
six or more games, and the first sense, Buffalo won
eight straight games between twenty twenty three and twenty twenty four.
Buffalo becomes the first team to score thirty plus points
against Kansas City since Tampa Bay did it in Week
four of twenty twenty two. Now, John, I know COVID
(05:30):
messed up the space time continuum right where it did.
You could tell me ay twenty nineteen was blah blah
blah years ago, and I would say, you're full of
You're full of crap. So when I saw this and
I saw Week four of twenty two, that's not that
long ago. Like, man, it's gonna be twenty five here
(05:53):
in like six weeks, so yeah, that's a pretty long time.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Indeed, they've been This is goes back to the winning
program talk that we had several weeks ago, where you know,
accepting that this is now a it's not just it's
not just a fat it's not just a thing. This
is a winning football program. Like people come to Buffalo
because they have a great chance to win while here,
and it's been for a while. You know. It's funny.
(06:20):
Jim nance even mentioned too, in between orgasms with him
and Mahomes that Josh all that you know, he mentioned,
you know, for seven years, Josh Allen's been doing this
and and doesn't seem like he's slowing down at all.
Called him like an exception of the rule, kind of
like we were talking about last week, just the dude
came to play, that the team comes to play. There's
(06:40):
something about this team in particular, I think more than
any of the others that we covered, that has made
this my favorite one for us to cover. I think
just because this was supposed to be the off year
and everything was going not the best for them coming
into the season, and now here we're staring a potential
(07:01):
home field advantage, throughout the playoffs and a right now,
in my opinion, especially after yesterday's performance, a top two
MVP candidate in Josh Allen.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
I think right now season ends today. Josh Allen's your MVP.
There's no doubt about it.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yes, the thing that's the freshest in everybody's mind would
be that, Yes.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Well, it's the we'll talk about we'll talk about Wyan
just a minute, because again it's like the Heisman Trophy.
You need those Heisman moments. Keep that in the back
of your mind. We'll talk about that. Yes, the second Yes, and.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
The play of the year that nance also appropriately you know,
titled it that I would I would give you that.
Speaker 2 (07:38):
It's the fifth straight game where Buffalo scored thirty plus points,
the first time Buffalo has ever defeated an unbeated opponent
who was nine in zero or better coming into the game.
Back in two thousand and seven, Buffalo lost to a
nine to o New England team fifty six to ten,
and in twenty fifteen, shockingly, also New England, they were
nine to oh a twenty to thirteen loss. It's the
(07:59):
thirteenth time Buffalo and their opponent had a zero point
seventy to five zero winning percentager higher. Entering the ninth
game or later of the season, Buffalo moves to nine
and three in those games, with seven wins in the
last of those nine such contests dating back to nineteen ninety.
I bit the tip of my tongue as I was
staying that sentence, so I'm glad it came out in
(08:19):
one piece. There it's a twenty third time Buffalo played
an undefeated opponent in game four of a season or later.
That all time record moves to nine and fourteen, but
it snaps.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
A nine game losing streak.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
So again the big thing here too, Buffalo becomes the
only team to beat Patrick Mahomes four times. But that's big.
This is bigger. And this is not just Sean McDermott
saying it, John, it's the entire team saying the win significance.
Sean McDermott said, it's no statement. This is not the
finish line. Dean Dawkins said, this is not our super Bowl.
(08:51):
While Chiefs fans and the rest of the National FOOTBA
League's going, hey, Buffalo's you know, blowing up over the
fact that they beat the Chiefs in the regular season.
No no, no, you must not watch Buffalo Bills football.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
I would say that, yeah, absolutely, last season, the season before,
you know, yeah, sure, I would give you that. This
one felt way, way, way way different.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
This team understands that. And again I think it's it's
mostly based on vibes. And I'll just say this very quickly.
I think John, I full disclosure, was incredibly ill yesterday
sweating my ass off during the game. I stepped on
my glasses and broke and right now they're electrical tape together.
(09:34):
And I've got one of those little sunglass things. Oh
my goodness, keeps the glasses on your head. I bought
two new pairs, but I put them on the floor.
Was playing with the playing with my youngest daughter, stood
up to go turn the fireplace off and crunch.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
That was great.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
So I had a day yesterday.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
But I think I have a SoundBite for that. Hold on.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
That is accurate, I would say. But then the Bills
won the game, so it was worth it.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
You know.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
But yes, indeed, but looking at this team, I believe
John you had said it jokingly or it was Chris
Chris town he one of the two and our in
our trust, the trust. The text message text chain that
was incredibly unhinged yesterday.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
I'll just leave it at that.
Speaker 2 (10:13):
It was in the best way, incredibly unhinged in the
in the I guess bounce of ways.
Speaker 4 (10:18):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
But there was a joke made that, you know, maybe
Steph Diggs was the problem. And while I don't believe
that's the case, if you look at it more scientifically,
Steph Digg's gone, all of the old veterans gone, that
vibe of that team gone. There's a new sheriff in town,
if you will, and it's this team and their vibes,
(10:41):
and this team's vibes, judging by mister Bright said that
that video always goes around now and it's getting only
crazier and crazier. The team is just railing around that.
And and for me, uh like what Dion Dawkins is
saying about the win. Hey, it's not the Super BOWLTS
just another week. It's a big game, but we we
every game is a big game until you get to
(11:02):
the playoffs, and then that's when it's incredibly important.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
I get that. I would dare call this the Joe
Brady era, because to me, the dynamic of this team
really changed when Dorsey was fired and Joe Brady was
brought in as the offensive coordinator. This is not to dismiss,
you know, the contributions of the defense, but I think
the swagger returned, but not in the form of swagger,
(11:25):
in the form of chip on the shoulder, which I
think is better in this case. And absolutely now fifteen
and three since in the regular season, since the since
the switch, like that's nothing to sleep on either. And
I think everybody makes everybody talks about, you know, Josh
(11:45):
Allen and talks about coach McDermott rightfully. So Joe Brady
needs to get his flowers in this whole run here too.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
I'm not going to say it's like a franchise altering move,
but firing Ken Dorsey and promoting Joe Brady may go
down in recent Bill's history, in recent Bill's lore as
that fork in the road where that may have been
what started it. It wasn't the sole thing, but it
may no, no.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
No, but it definitely it definitely you felt it that
first game after after that switch was made, and it
just kept going and going and going, and and there
you see them getting confident more confident every week. Josh Allen,
you know, he doesn't really have to do much. You're
gonna go to the offense and I'll and and I'll
let you do that without you know, saying any of
(12:33):
the stats. But he's not throwing for four hundred five
hundred yards. He's not doing that anymore. The team is
it's it's while it is Josh Allen's team. It's a
team team. Everybody is eating at that table.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Yeah, absolutely, and looking at the team here and we'll
we'll roll over treasure big things up that.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
I uh oh here and I think I lost you?
You got me? Oh, I see I see you talking.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Uh oh, I think you may Did you lose me?
Because I can hear you? Oh boy, hey, look at
this is how things work in the podcast land. But
while John's getting that fixed.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
Three big things, please everybody. I can I can speak,
but I can't hear. And Ryan, if I go on
playback and I find out that you were mother hucking me,

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Whoo?
Speaker 1 (14:20):
All right, victory is mine?
Speaker 2 (14:21):
What I mean I was just about to I was
just about to wrap up and say, before we wrap
up the offense, we're gonna wrap this up and give
johna a minute to fix this computer. But hey, we're
gonna wrap up the offense here, John.
Speaker 1 (14:29):
Oh, okay, let's wrap up the offense.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Josh Allen dot com Oh that was great because like
right as I stopped talking, and you'll hear this in
post when we play it back or you listen to
the podcast, I would hit the end of a sentence.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
He we go.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
I hope I'm not interrupting you, and I just was
having a conversation with you while you couldn't hear me. Oh, really,
it was great.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
It was like im then for Downey's family and it's okay.
Speaker 2 (14:51):
It's okay, mister missus Downey, we apologize. Wrapping up the offense.
Quarterback Josh Allen twenty seven of forty two hundred and
sixty two passing yards, one touchdown, one interception, with twelve
rushes for fifty five yards and one touchdown. Now, the
thing you mentioned about Jim Nant saying that Josh Allen
has been doing this for as long as he's been
doing it for I think out of the out of
(15:12):
the gate.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
I think that.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Mahomes was really good the first time he stepped on
the field and has not had to improve because he
has been so good and he continues to be so
good this year. A little bit a little bit of
regression to the meme, but it's not gonna it's not
gonna last forever. We've seen it with everybody. You play
a lot of football and win a lot, it catches
(15:40):
up to you over time. But the one thing that
has continued to happen is Josh Allen improving. And while
we did see some things like the decision making needing
to be better on that on that interception he threw
where he tried to float the ball to Dawson Knox
put a little too much float into the past case
he turned that pick into seven points, there were other
(16:01):
times during the game that you saw Josh Allen. And
even watching Josh Allen play quarterback for the Buffalo Bills
every single week for as many as many games as
we've done, as many episodes as we've done here on
Trust the Podcast, and I still find myself blown away
(16:23):
by some of the stuff that he can do and
by some of the stuff that he just straight up does.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Yeah. Absolutely, he's He's an exception of the rule. He's
even I when I had said you got the right
Josh back in the day when he drafted, I could
have never predicted how right like I I was. And
I'm not, you know, trying to toot my own horn here.
But I knew he was good. I knew he was
coming into a place that was very familiar in terms of,
(16:51):
you know, the football conditions, things like that, all those
little kind of like isms that maybe shy people away
from a different market. You always hear of folks that
are you know, West Coast base when they go to
play an East Coast team. They you know, they go
to play New England, New York Buffalo wherever. Right that
that has like snow, You're like, it's like they've never
seen snow before, right. Josh Allen came from that kind
(17:14):
of environment too, So I think on top of you know,
being comfortable there, having the franchise being what it was
starving for that you know that next thing, and McDermott
proving himself. I mean, you had all the right pieces
in place. But even that, and even as the growing
(17:35):
was happening, it's very hard to predict a superstar when
they come into the league in a league that has
so many predictions of stars that are busts. No one
had Josh Allen being freaking superman here.
Speaker 2 (17:52):
No, And I mean he continues to do that, right,
A good example being again looking at history also, I
was just looking something up. The Bills are four and
one against Mahomes in the regular season, zero to three
in the postseason.
Speaker 1 (18:08):
Apologize, God forbid, excuse me.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
I didn't get that right, Chiefs fans might come for
me and my mentions. Also real quick shout out to PG, Tips,
Tea and Honey, absolutely saving my life right now, History,
John History, John Josh Allen took sole possession of second
all time in franchise history with his fiftieighth career rushing touchdown.
Now he trails only Thurman Thomas sixty five for the
(18:32):
most all time in Buffalo history. Twenty seven completions on
Sunday give Alan two hundred five minutes career, overtaking Joe
Ferguson at twenty one and eighty eight for second most
completions in franchise history. With his two touchdowns on Sunday,
Josh Allen tied Jim Kelly for most touchdowns in franchise
history at two and forty four. But here's the thing,
(18:52):
this is the superman thing that blows my mind. That
twenty six yard rushing touchdown that Josh Allen put the
game away with put the team on his back. Though,
like Greg Jennings in that YouTube video from twenty years ago.
At this point it was the third longest scoring run
in Josh Allen's career. What looked to be a broken
(19:14):
play a risky decision to go for it on fourth
and short, which again, that is another development that has
taken place. Sean McDermott has become more willing as a
eye test. I have not looked at stats, so please
correct me if I'm wrong, somebody, but it seems that
if it's fourth and three or less, depending on the scenario,
depending on the situation, the Bills are more likely to
(19:35):
go for it than not.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
Yeah, oh, absolutely go to Josh, which I will say
I knew that Josh running in that scenario at the
end of the game was the likeliest of scenarios. But
they played that playoff so well. They tricked the defense very,
very good, to the point where, yeah, even if it
did appear broken, which I don't think it really was broken,
(19:58):
I do kind of think it was a little by
design at least.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Not only not only did they confuse the defense like
I'm I'm I'm sorry to jump in I've been waiting
to tell you this stat because I purposely sent it
to Chris Downey directly insteaded to the trusted Dex message chat.
According to the next Sten stats, I don't know how
they come up with this stuff, but it's Amazon say
there are Lord, and you know there are Overlord when
it comes to getting us packages in Prime. So they
(20:23):
got to be right about something. Josh Allen had just
a one point two percent chance of scoring a touchdown
once he tucked up all the run. It was his
first scramble touchdown against the Chiefs in his career.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Like, how the hell did they determine that? I don't know.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
I don't know if it's like the if it's like
angles and but like he he made a lot of
defenders look silly like, oh, someone I believe was Blue
Sky had mentioned that forty five percent of the Chiefs
defense on the field came into contact with Josh Allen
on that play and no one took him down. So
(20:59):
that was one of those again, put the team on
put the team on his back. This is where this
is where people step up and step out. This is
where superstars make those superstar plays.
Speaker 1 (21:11):
YEP.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I did not expect that to be a touchdown. I
figured Allen would have gone down before to just run
the clock out, but hey, score that touchdown. The if
there was a roof on high Mark Stadium that some
bitch would have blown off because.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
Hell yeah, and that's probably why they didn't build a
dome for the new stadium. Moments like that shattered the
roof if money's worth but like absolutely that you know
that you you the player. The big players come through
in the big moments. Josh allen Man's game, big time
player came through when he needed it. Freakin Buffalo put
(21:46):
put the league back on notice. We ain't done yet.
That's what that man said with that final run.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Absolutely, I mean again, it's a no secret the Buffalo
Bills are really freaking good. Like just because I'm jumping
in because I didn't update one of the stats in
the podcast, I'm looking as I'm as I'm talking here,
but like the Bills have scored in their victories thirty four,
thirty one, forty seven, twenty three, thirty four, thirty one,
(22:16):
thirty thirty thirty, good luck, good luck Beyon mad in January.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
Those are those are Madden. Those are Maddenn Rookie Mode numbers,
maybe Madden on Pro numbers. If you're really Good the
All Pro.
Speaker 2 (22:31):
On Sunday, James Cook had nine carries for twenty yards,
two rushing touchdowns, five receptions for six targets, five receptions
on six targets for seven yards. Even though Cook wasn't
Cooking on Sunday, he still finds Way's the factor under
the final score. He recorded his ninth and tenth rushing
touchdowns of the season, becoming the first Buffalo Bills running
back to run for ten plus touchdowns since Lashaw McCoy
(22:54):
did it in twenty sixteen. It's also what I have thirteenth.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
Every year every week. When we mentioned Jane Cook, how
does brother do?
Speaker 2 (23:03):
He hadn't played yet, but probably not good? Okay, all right,
carry on thirteenth time a Bill has rushed for ten
plus touchdowns at a season, see John. The jokes are good.
But when we're recording right before Monday night football starts,
when the brother is going to play, it gets it's
a little difficult. And yes, I know we are recording
a little early this week, but also at the same time,
(23:23):
it's a bye week coming up, so we know we
have the opportunity to get this in and get this
out as soon as possible.
Speaker 1 (23:27):
For y'all.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
But anyways, there were let's see two, three, four, five, six, seven,
eight nine. Nine players recorded a target on Sunday, including
Zach Davidson, who.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
Made his hit the wrong one.
Speaker 2 (23:45):
Sorry, he made his NFL debut his first regular season game.
I'm just reading the stats here. It was one reception
for five yards on one target. Big boy foot seven,
two hundred and fifty one pounds, a twenty twenty one
fifth round pick, one hundred and sixty eighth overall by
(24:06):
the Mina Sota Vikings. But again, even though Dalton Kincaid
was out with a knee injury, m H made his
presence felt. Also, Keon Coleman was out with risk injury.
We'll update those injuries here shortly. Wide receiver Khalil Shakir
eight receptions on twelve targets for seventy yards undisputed.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
One dog, Your dog is quiet? What come on? God?
Damn it? Hold on? Dog? Is that better? Still quiet?
It's okay? Still quiet? All right? Never mind, okay, okay,
just to go.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
At this point, there was a big There was a
big first down where Khalil Shakir got nailed in his
lower back, caught the ball appeared to be hurt. I
would have to presume it didn't feel very good, but
continued on in the game. It was his fifth straight
game with six plus receptions. Wide receiver Amari Cooper made
his return to the line up two receptions on three
(25:01):
targets for fifty five yards, both catches. John orderline circus catches,
and Buffalo should absolutely see what it takes to keep
Cooper around for a while, you know, maybe next year,
the year after that.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
A couple nights, I think, Oh, I'll tell you what.
The way he's been, the way things have been shaving up,
and the way things are, he's going to become a
fan favorite very quickly. He'll become a favorite of Josh Allen.
That freaking catch was insane. Absolutely there was, and he
and I like what we said too, And I think
you might have mentioned it. I'm not sure. I was
messing with again audio issues over here randomly. I don't
(25:31):
know what the hell's going on. You mentioned your it, Ryan,
and then all of a sudden, my my stuff starts
to fail here. What's going on with you? We joined it?
Bro AnyWho that one handed catch Amari Cooper saying that
was that it was routine that it was not a
hard catch that it was. You know, like that's the
kind of dude you want on there, and you know,
damn well, he's itching to win, he's itching to get there.
Speaker 2 (25:54):
Tim Graham said Amari Cooper on his fabulous over the
wrong shoulder grab on the sideline. That was the I
believe the second catch. The first catch was the one
hand out past the defender and pulled it in.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Yes, he said.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Quote it was a routine catch. Really, it wasn't that tough.
It might have looked tougher than it was, but I've
been in that situation a lot. It wasn't tough.
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Dog you want on your team.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
He played thirty seven snaps in the first game since
suffering urbst injury at Seattle. That's fifty point seven percent.
So he's he appears to be still banged up. But
he showed up on Sunday night, Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
And show did the dog come through there? It was
very quiet. It's all right, does this come through loud?
Very loud. That came through loud, But the dog came
through quiet.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
Hit me with it one more time, very quiet. That's okay.
We will move forward. We will work through this, John,
we will.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Make we will work all right. I don't know, I
got nothing.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
Wide receiver Curtis Samuel five receptions on six targets UH
for fifty eight yards and one touchdo his best game
as a Bill, both statistically and vibes wise. Oh, as
you know, we are a vibes based podcast here, and
vibes are good from Curtis Samuel. A season high in receptions,
yards and touchdowns. John, I think Curtis Samuel may have
(27:14):
turned a corner with his Buffalo Bills offense and Josh Allen.
He's recorded nine receptions on fourteen targets in the last
two games after recording twelve receptions on nineteen targets in
his first eight games this season combined. Here's some cool
stats too for you. You know I love the cool stats.
This is the stuff that gets me all all excited.
He becomes he being. Curtis Samuel becomes the eleventh Bill
(27:36):
to catch a touchdown this season, which marks the most
in the NFL, and he's the thirty fifth, thirty fifth
different player to be a recipient of a Josh Allen
touchdown pass.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Everybody eats at Josh Allen's table. Everybody eats, that's what's
helping win the game. Though, you know, you know, you
know understand, like you see some of these other teams
where they're like, you know, it's always like, you know,
I'll just I'll use I'll use Rogers to divine Adams
because it's comical at this point now, but for a
while Rogers to Adams or you know, Manning to whomever. Right,
(28:07):
Like Josh Allen doesn't have his one he likes to
get he's figured out, and the offense is figured out.
Everybody eats, everybody wins. It's a selflessness. It's a perfect
storm of awesome there.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
I think selflessness is what defines this team this year.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
While while Amari Cooper would love to come in, I'm
sure and go for ten one hundred and two touches
every game, the game hinges on how it's how it
plays out. So yesterday, for instance, the Bills kept hitting
the inside run wasn't working. You're not going to get
through Chris Jones. He is a monster among men, like
(28:50):
in All Pro tack, All Pro defensive tackle, one of
the best, if not the best, in the in the game.
Right now, You're not gonna get much there. So the
Buffalo Bills just do something different and it ends up
becoming a game where Curtis Samuel catches the ball a lot.
I think right now the only guy who ends up
getting a guaranteed amount of work per week is Khalil
(29:12):
Shakir because again he's the one that helps move those
chains that allows them to go to the Dawson Knox's,
Dalton Kincaid, Amari Cooper's, James Cook's Ray Davis again, so
on Ty Johnson and so on and so forth, Like
it's not that again before when when you have a
(29:33):
guy like Stefan Diggs, it's not that you have to
throw the ball to that person X amount of times
per game, but it almost feels like an obligation. We're here.
I could just be reading too much into it, John,
but it feels like selflessness has defined this team through
the first eleven games. And if this continues, Man, I
(29:55):
don't You could say the sky's the limit, but I
don't know where that limit.
Speaker 1 (29:59):
Is at this point. The limit would be raising the
Lomardi Trophy at the end. I mean, these are the
types of teams you talk about. You know, again, you
get the teams to have the swag, the teams that
are supposed to be there right, do this and do
this whatever what have you, and they get punched in
their mouth and it's like, well what happened? This team
had had heard it all coming in. Three peat? Right,
(30:20):
that was the big thing. Kansas City's going for the
three peat. Kansas City, they're undefeated. Mahomes, this Kelsey, this,
Taylor Swift, that Chiefs, Chiefs, Chiefs, it's all, it's all
it's been, right, It's all it's been. And then you know,
you mix in a little bit of the you know,
New York Jets hype that turned out to be nothing.
(30:41):
You turn the Miami Dolphins, you know, lay all that,
and no one was talking about the Bills except to
say this is going to be a down year for them.
Josh Allen doesn't have anybody on his team. Josh Allen's
not going to be you know this, that and the
other thing. And Buffalo looked up and just basically said, yeah, okay,
hold the beer, watch this, and now everybody seeing what's
(31:07):
what's in front of them. I truly, and I'm not
a homer, but I don't know that I see a
team in the AFC or the NFC. Maybe the Lions. Yet,
let me take that back. Let me take that back.
Maybe the Lions. But I don't know that I see
(31:28):
very many teams that have the it that Buffalo is
currently displaying right now this year. This is a different vibe,
This is a different it. This is a different Bills team,
and those teams tend to go very very far.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Absolutely, and not to mention too when you look defensively,
moving on to our second of the three big things,
wrap it up the defense and special teams Buffalo had.
I don't think I updated that number. Let me take
a look. No, I didn't. Buffalo had two sacks, three
tackles for losses, five passes defended, seven quarterback hits, two interceptions.
(32:07):
Uh again, they kept they Their performance on on Sunday
was almost as impressive, if not more impressive for me,
because the one thing that the Buffalo Bills have struggled
with in the past, let's send the house, let's roll,
let's let's and in mahomes eats against the Blitz. Yes,
(32:32):
So what what Buffalo did? And and I'm going to
kind of jump around here because looking at Terrel Bernard,
he had eight tackles, three solo, one sack, one tackle
for loss, a pass defended, and one quarterback hit on
his sack. John Terrell Bernard's difference was explained in that
one play. The pass rush collapsed the pocket, It kept
the It kept the rushing in, laying integrity there, which
(32:54):
then allowed the pocket to start to collapse in and
collapse in and collapse in. Mahomes rolled out to his left.
Then once Mahomes decided I'm out of here, Terrell Bernard
b line for Mahomes and took them down. Those are
the kinds of things that the Bills I don't recall
the Bills having done before, where not only are they
able to get that consistent pressure on Mahomes, but when
(33:19):
he does roll out, for the most part, they were
able to contain him. And it was Bernard's first sack
of the season, his second career game with the second interception,
and I didn't put the interception in there because clearly
I was doing this while I was half awake. But
excuse me, Treil Bernard had the.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
I called for the Monday podcast. It's so all all
the system issues, all the stuff, Ryan being you know,
going on week number seventeen of his illness. Yep, that's
all my fault.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
It's all good man, It's this one makes the podcast
so much fun.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
You know what else? You want?
Speaker 2 (33:52):
What else makes the podcast fun?
Speaker 1 (33:53):
John the Bills Podcast, Fun the.
Speaker 2 (33:56):
Bills recording eighty four points off turnovers this season, the
most of the National Football League, marking the most points
off turnovers through week eleven of a season since at
least nineteen ninety three. Buffalo is forced to turnover in
all eleven games this season. The last time this sapen
was two thousand, which also saw a streak that lasted
only eleven games. Buffalo's plus fourteen turnover bounds for the
season ties a team record through eleven games. Von Miller
(34:18):
two tackles, one solo, one sack, a tackle for a
loss in a quarterback hit. His career total rises to
one hundred and twenty seven and a half sacks, trailing
Ricky Jackson at one twenty eight for sixteenth on the
NFL's all time sack list. Taylor Rap safety Taylor Rap
six tackles, one solo, pass defended in an interception. He's
recorded picks in consecutive games for the first time in
his career. He did suffer a foot injury during the game.
(34:40):
He did return, something to keep an eye on during
the bye week. But again also Greg Russo, that man,
his development for this Buffalo Bills pass rush in defense
absolutely incredible. He was only credited with two quarterback hits,
but his consistent pressure kept those pass rush lanes knocked
down lockdown, which kept Mahomes in the pocket most of
(35:02):
the game because he couldn't roll out.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
If he did, he would have gotten nuked. So excuse
me being able to the bottom offense defense special teams.
This was a banger of a freaking performance from the
Buffalo Bilge. You really can't and and again not to
take away from the Kansas City Chiefs, but it's because
it's not like they're you know, they were playing the
(35:23):
Jacksonville Jaguars one of these or the New York Giants
or you know, one of those bottom feeder teams, like
they were playing the team of teams, and Buffalo stepped
up to the challenge and said, uh uh, not so fast.
They pulled the league corse, so not so exactly. Sorry,
I was drinking some water there, Yeah, no, all good,
but just you know, overall, there's there's not a whole
(35:45):
lot to critique at all. I mean, this was they
did everything they needed to do on every corner of
the ball, and because of that, they won the game,
simple as that.
Speaker 2 (35:56):
And that's the thing too, Like people, I know, Chiefs
fans are on life and saying, oh the Bills, you know,
got a lot of calls and bled blah blah blah.
But like here's the thing, the.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Same thing, the same thing that Buffalo Bills fans say
about them though, so it you know, I.
Speaker 2 (36:09):
Don't I don't have time for that. Like it it
fell like in the past. Like again that Mahomes, that
Mahomes run well. First off, if you want to talk
about calls, John Holy happy horseshit did the NFL almost
screw the pooch at the end In the final two
minutes of that game. There was a there was a
pass play where it was caught by I believe, I
(36:30):
don't remember which it was one of the tight ends.
It was not Dravis Kelcey, but it was caught by
a player. The ball clearly hit the ground. Oh yeah,
they rushed up to the line and then Mahomes ran
for this. This big game ended up running I'm getting
my I'm getting my plays mixed up here, I'll get
I'll get the I'll get the drive popped up. Because again,
(36:51):
it was a play where let's see here, it was
Justin Watson, That's what it was. It was Justin Watson
on third and thirteen. A ten yard pass and catch
that was clearly not a catch. It bounced off the ground,
his arm went down and the ball touched the ground.
(37:12):
It aided in the process of making the catch, which
by rule is an incompletion. But John, as we'd like
to say, here, ball don't lie. The next play, Mahome
scrambles for eighteen yards. That was the one play where
I went this is a prototypical Kansas City Chiefs play.
Whether you know, you know someone is being held somewhere, yes,
(37:36):
flag on the play, they get called back. It's fourth
and thirteen. Mahomes gets picked off. Game over go bills.
But sometimes, what I like to say, sometimes you're the dog,
sometimes you're the hydrant. Kansas City's been playing it real
tight the whole season and finally it bit them.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Yep. Yeah, And you know what, for them and their sake,
I think it's probably the best for the best because
they had the whole burden of the unbeaten season and
all that stuff there. Now they can focus on actual
ball and not worry about any of these records and
the seventy two Dolphins bitching about an undefeated season other
than their own again and all that stuff.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
Here's the big thing for me, which is why winning
this game, among other reasons, was so important. But towards
the end of the I mean, the Chiefs play, the Panthers,
the Raiders, the Chargers, who are all of the Chargers
look incredible. You've got some Browns.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
You've got the.
Speaker 2 (38:29):
Browns who, if they can play some defense, Jamis Winston
will throw for four hundred yards. The Texans who are tough,
the Steelers who are tough, and the Broncos, who now
all of a sudden, also are a wild card team.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Yeah, I don't. I'm blown away by that.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
We can talk about it maybe next week. Man, But
Bo Nicks, he might not be the real deal. Sean
Payton is coaching that kid up.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
He's certainly not Zach Wilson two point zero. Even though
he looks like him. He looks his name is Bowe.
Speaker 2 (39:00):
I mean, come on, now, that's like a fake name.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
It feels like.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
But this win not only keeps Buffalo in the one
seed conversation, but this could also as long as Buffalo
keeps up there end of the bargain and keeps up
the pace on their end, this could change how Kansas
City plays the end of the season, where hey, if
the one seed's wrapped up, we'll play. You know, we're
(39:25):
not gonna play our starters week eighteen. Maybe week seventeen
will take them out early because we have nothing to
play for. We got the division, we got the one seed,
et cetera.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Et cetera.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Like let's be let's get healthy before the playoffs. Where
now they may be playing up to week eighteen and
they have to play a full game week eighteen to
fight for the one seed, which again may make a
very big It may make no difference, but it may
make a very big difference. That's why we're.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Talking about the fun My friend has just begun.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Yeah, and again Bill sched really easy. We'll talk about
that in a minute after the uh after we take
a quick commercial break here. But again, a lot of
crazy stuff coming up with this goddamn Bill's team.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Man, they look real good, Yes they do, Yes they do.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Gonna take it, Gonna take a quick commercial break. Will
be back right after this with more Trust the Podcast
on the here on the Gear Radio network. And we
are back on Trust the Podcast over the commercial break. No,
my voice did not get any better. It actually may
have gotten a little deeper. Uh whatever, We'll take what
we can get. John around the NFL, brought to you
(40:34):
by our friends over Go Frost Yourself.

more time? Go frost yourself dot com. And now over
to our unpaid in turn, the Holy jack Wagon, mister
Chris Downey for around the NFL.
Speaker 4 (41:39):
Take it away, Chris, Thanks John, Thanks Ryan, and now
here's your week eleven recap from around the National Football League.
First we go to Detroit, as Detroit's point differential took
a commanding lead this week with its forty six point
victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars fifty two to six on
Sunday afternoon. Jared Goff went twenty four of twenty nine
(41:59):
for over four hundred yards and four touchdowns in the win,
bouncing back from last week's below average performance against Houston.
Amon Ross Saint Brown caught eleven balls for one hundred
and sixty one yards and a pair of scores in
the victory. Pittsburgh and Baltimore went to battle in the
Steel City. In the Steelers showed us the key to
beating the Baltimore Ravens this season. You don't score touchdowns.
(42:20):
Chris Boswell was a perfect six for six, including a
long of fifty seven yards, to give the Pittsburgh Steelers
a two point edge in a huge AFC North battle.
The Steelers now set at eight and two and hold
a game and a half lead over Baltimore, who is
now seven to four. Russell Wilson threw for two hundred
and five yards in the win, including eight completions to
George Pickens for eighty nine yards. Lamar Jackson for Baltimore
(42:42):
threw for two hundred and seven in the loss. Sunday
Night Football saw a fantastic matchup as the Chargers squeaked
out of thirty four to twenty seven victory with a
late touchdown over the Bengals. Joe burrows spectacular season continues
to go by the wayside, though, as he threw for
three hundred and fifty six yards and three touchdowns in
the law, a performance that most quarterbacks would take and
(43:02):
you'd expect to win. T Higgins also caught one hundred
and forty eight yards and nine catches, both game highs
for the Chargers. Justin Herbert was no slots either, though,
throwing for two hundred and ninety seven yards and a
team high sixty five yards in the win. Some other
notables from around the NFL Bow Knicks three for four
touchdowns in Denvers thirty eight six win over Atlanta. Minnesota
(43:25):
is now won three straight after their twenty three thirteen
win over the Titans in the Music City, and Houston
won the Battle of the Lone Star State, knocking off
the Dallas Cowboys thirty four to ten in Jerry World.
A look at your NFL standings now, Buffalo leads the
AFC East by four and a half games, five and
a half if you include the Bills had to head tiebreaker.
(43:46):
Now looking ahead, the Bills have a bye this week,
but they play on Sunday Night Football the following week.
Speaker 1 (43:51):
But they can also.
Speaker 4 (43:52):
Clinch the division before playing their next game against the
forty nine ers. That is, if the Dolphins lose their
next two games, which include the New England pay Patriots
and Green Bay Packers. If the Patriots also lose Indianapolis
on December first, and the Jets lose to Seattle on
the same day, the Bills will wrap up the East
before even playing a snap against the forty nine ers.
(44:14):
Kansas City leads its division by two over the La Chargers,
with one more matchup left between these two teams. Pittsburgh
leaves Baltimore in the North is mentioned earlier, and Houston
is up on Indianapolis by a pair of games in
the south. Now, looking at the NFC, there is a
little more separation.
Speaker 1 (44:29):
In the North.
Speaker 4 (44:29):
Is Detroit at the conference's top team, leads the Minnesota
Vikings by one in Green Bay by two games. Atlanta
leads Tampa Bay in the South by game and a half,
as does Philadelphia by the same margin. Into the North
over the Washington Commanders, the West has a logjam, though,
as Arizona leads it at the top at six and four,
but the Rams, Seahawks and Niners are all one game
(44:50):
back at five and five. Now a quick glance at
your playoff picture, as it's slowly starting to take shape.
On the AFC side, Kansas City's lead is dwindled a
little bit with Buffalo's win. Pittsburgh sits half game back
behind the Bills in the third spot. In Houston is
the four seed at seven and four, while the cart
spots are held by the Chargers at seven and three,
(45:12):
Baltimore at seven and four, in Denver at six and five.
On the NFC side, Detroit continues to be the top
team at nine to one, with a one game lead
over the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles have a two game
lead over third place Arizona, who is currently six and four,
and the Falcons sit at the fore seat at six
and five. The Vikings are the top wallidcard team for
the NFC at eight and two, Green Bay is seven
(45:34):
and three, and Washington runs out the NFC playoff picture
at seven and four. This has been your Week eleven
recap for around the NFL, John and Ryan, back to you.
Speaker 2 (45:43):
Chris has always thank you for that, John, and I
also appreciate the enthusiasm. He got me real lit up here.
Speaker 1 (45:48):
Hey got you lit it lit, baby lit.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
You got me really not be lit.
Speaker 1 (45:52):
After that, after that freaking game, after the performance, after
what you saw with I'm telling you, man, Josh Allen
Man's game, dude, and.
Speaker 2 (46:01):
Again again looking at it, looking at it, you say
to yourself, at some point, at some point in time,
he just decided I'm taking over, man, I'm I'm I'm
gonna be the reason that this game is over.
Speaker 1 (46:13):
And lo and behold, man, he took the tooth pick
in his mouth like Scott Hall did in nineteen ninety
six and said, here you go, We're taking over.
Speaker 2 (46:26):
It is very funny to see people either rolling back
and or doubling down on things that they said or
ways that they felt prior to this game. But again, dude,
I mean, god damn, that was absolutely fantastic.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
It was fantastic. Excuse me, absolutely awesome. All right, So
what do we have to watch Ryan next week?
Speaker 2 (46:54):
It was hard to figure this out, really, I mean
it was, uh, looking at the games, I can tell
you what I'm not watching.
Speaker 1 (47:02):
What's that New York Jets? Although they did their part
in the in that stat that that that I think
it was you one of you. You were down. He
shared in that Trust podcast chat about the magic number
for Buffalo being one, like they had to win, but then,
like everybody else in the AFC East, had to lose
a game in order to take the division, and the
(47:23):
Jets and the Patriots both did their part, but Miami
I think won, So yeah, there were right now, the
magic number is not quite there yet.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
So looking at it, Miami in New England playing Miami
New England win gets Buffalo one step closer to another
AFC East Title. I would not wish that game on
my enemy because it's probably gonna be awful to watch,
but it may be fun because it may be awful.
Baltimore versus the Charge of England in that one, I'm
rooting for the sweet release of death in that one,
(47:57):
all right. Baltimore versus the Chargers Monday Night foot all
gets the Horrible, which actually hosts some very real playoff implications.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
SPN is gonna milk that one in promotion all the
way up to it, ANDNA they're gonna milk something. Speaking
of ESPN, what do you think about what do you
think about inside the NBA coming at ESPN next year? Huge.
I'm freaking thrilled with.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
That because at some point in time somebody had to
step up and save it, because that that can't go away.
Speaker 1 (48:28):
Yeah, no, absolutely, that was just that was a moneymaker.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
Detroit in Indiana, Indianapolis.
Speaker 1 (48:33):
We're gonna get Shae. We're gonna get shot.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
Every week we gotta get, we gotta get Steven.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
How many championships you want, Steve A we gotta get?
You need to tell you about the championship, Steven, know
how many championship you win? You won't win championship. That
was my shack on you. That was good.
Speaker 2 (48:55):
I think, uh, I think that Charles Barkley needs to
get more involved in ESPN and in the oh good Lord,
in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
I'm sure that's going to open the door for him.
I'm I'm one hundred percent sure we'll see him at Well. Obviously,
they're gonna have the inside the NBA coverage, like in
place of what they're doing now the NBA you know,
game time or whatever the hell it's called NBA countdown,
Like inside the NBA is gonna replace that, So they're
gonna get them at the game. So you're gonna see
(49:23):
them at all the NBA games. But Chuck Barkley always
shows up at a freaking hockey game and at a
freaking football game, and ESPN shows both, so I'm betting
we'll see him on there and probably on first take too. Dude,
that would be you're gonna get me hyped up, Ernie,
that wouldn't be terrible, her, Chuck, howmy championships? You will
(49:46):
mass shut up? Shot Anyways, I'm happy. I'm a big
fan of the.
Speaker 2 (49:50):
Show talking about making money, dude. The Detroit Lions, the
Indianapolis Colts future scouting here. The Bills played Detroit coming
up here, but also Detroit is likely to smush the Colts.
Speaker 1 (50:02):
Yeah, they do. Detroit scary stuff yesterday. If you're a
Jags fan, for sure, if you're if you're a Lions fan,
eve been waiting for something like that your whole freaking life.
For those who don't pay attention.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
For those who only only watched, listen to the podcast here.
For the second time this year, the Detroit Lions scored
fifty two points in a game.
Speaker 1 (50:30):
And how and how many points? How many points did
they give up? Six? I'm sorry, what was that six?
Detroit hung fifty two on Jacksonville and only gave up
six points.
Speaker 2 (50:44):
Like Jared Goff bounced back from a five interception day
against the Texans to throw four hundred and twelve and four.
Speaker 1 (50:55):
Well the well, by the time the Bills and Lions play,
that's December fifteenth, be in Sunday night. Flex football season,
you know that's right now? Right now, it's it's tentatively
scheduled for four twenty five.
Speaker 2 (51:14):
I think we need to know two weeks in advance
for it to be potentially flexed.
Speaker 1 (51:20):
Ok, there's no way this game can There's no way
they'll leave this game on it four twenty five if
they have the opportunity to flex it. This is a
Sunday night game.
Speaker 2 (51:30):
Well, let's check the schedule right now. We've got a
few more minutes here in the podcast before I start
to squeak and lose my voice. Here, let's take it.
Speaker 1 (51:37):
Let's take it.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
Take it first spin here. So we're looking week fourteen. Nope,
that's not right, We're looking week fifteen.
Speaker 1 (51:45):
There we go.
Speaker 2 (51:46):
Okay, So, yeah, you've got Green Bay at Seattle at
eight twenty on Sunday. You've got Chicago at Minnesota, in
Atlanta at Las Vegas, a Monday night double header. Now
remember Monday night football also flexible.
Speaker 1 (52:05):
Now, oh that's right. Wow, watch there be a bidding
word to get it out. Which which would you rather do?
Put your put your Homer hat on for this one, Ryan,
which would you rather? Would you rather a Sunday night
football game or a Monday night football fan.
Speaker 2 (52:21):
With the Bills playing the Sunday after at one o'clock?
Speaker 1 (52:23):
Probably Sunday? Okay? As a football fan, would you rather
hear Tarrico and Collinsworth? Or Okay?
Speaker 2 (52:34):
So here we go, Here we go, or or Joe
and Troy, probably Joe and Troy because Chris Collins with I've.
Speaker 1 (52:44):
Never seen this before homes he last with his Winston
with his Winston cigarette smoker cough.
Speaker 2 (52:54):
So this game is week fifteen, Okay, So week fifteen
all right?
Speaker 1 (53:01):
Cool.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
According to the National Football League, Sunday afternoon games maybe
moved between one and four one pm, four or five
or four twenty five for Sunday Night football. It may
be used up to twice between weeks five and ten,
and at the NFL's discretion during weeks eleven through seventeen
for Monday Night football. It may be used at the
NFL's discretion in weeks twelve through seventeen.
Speaker 1 (53:22):
Okay, so much it's going to be flexed to one
of those one of those night games has to be only.
Speaker 2 (53:29):
Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to
Sunday night, Monday night, or Thursday night, in which case
the initially scheduled Sunday, Monday or Thursday game would be
moved to Sunday afternoon.
Speaker 1 (53:38):
So the only way I would say I would have
seen this maybe not being flexed is if they want
is if Fox, if it were on Fox originally and
Brady was calling the game, well, it's on CBS.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
So my thought is that the only thing is that
CBS probably, I don't know, they have games that they
can protect. They may have protected this game. I'm not sure.
But for Sunday Night Football weeks five through thirteen and
Monday Night Fall Bond in weeks twelve through seventeen, the
NFL will decide and announce no later than twelve days
in advance. Okay, so that would be if it is
gonna be on the fifteenth, we'll know by.
Speaker 1 (54:15):
The third.
Speaker 2 (54:15):
So we'll know two weeks from Tuesday, Okay, Okay, so
we'll find out soon. We'll find out relatively soon. So
if keep for sure flex, but if Green Bay eat
one out, if I guess, if Seattle keeps winning, maybe,
if it's got playoff implications, But dude, that Detroit Bill's
game is gonna.
Speaker 1 (54:36):
It's gonna be that's gonna be good. That's gonna be
a good one. That's gonna be one where probably people
are gonna be going into work late in the next day.
Speaker 2 (54:43):
Before we wrap up here, just a quick injury update,
looking at again Dwayne Carter had surgery end of October.
He's on the IR. He'll be out a bit longer.
Dwayne Smoot on the IR, Baile Inspector on the IR
as well. Matt Mullano, still on the IR, was ruled
out of Sunday's game against the Chiefs, but would be
surprised if maybe they see him back against the forty
(55:05):
nine Ers on Sunda Night Football, even if it's in
a limited fashion RAAA ramp up fashion. Spencer Brown, with
an ankle injury, missed the game. I don't They didn't
really say if it was precautionary in terms of keeping
him out because the bye week was coming up. But
Keon Coleman Dalton Kin Kaid also out with their respective
injuries as well, so a lot to keep an eye
(55:26):
on during the bye week. But again, the Buffalo Bills
have have kicked absolute ass up to this point, and
I think that that really leaves us with one more
person to check in with before we call this thing
a podcast. No one circles the wagons like the Buffalo
(55:46):
Bills for John Somino and our unpaid intern, Chris Downey.
I am Ryan Wolf. We are trust the podcast.
Speaker 1 (55:55):
You're not.
Speaker 2 (55:57):
We will catch you, same time, same place next week.
Even with the bye week, we ain't going anywhere, you
know that. But thank you for tuning in as always,
my friends, and we will catch you, same time, same place,
and as always, go bills, chow chow everybody.
