Gearnetwork dot com. The following is a presentation of the
gear Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
I believe it's a big challenge for our building to
keep things in perspective and and to if we're going
to get addicted to anything, let's get addicted to the process.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
And with that we welcome you to trust the podcast
powered by Better Live Than Dead in the gear Raado Network.
This year is episode one sixty three.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
One sixty three. Here Ryan, not not John.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
It's it's the Holy Jackwagon himself. It's Chris Downey, Chris
and stepping in for John as the co host this week,
this evening, this late evening. It's it's I know, Halloween
is all Hallows Eve, this is all Turkeys Eve. It's
the the night before Thanksgiving. H And what a and

(00:54):
what a day, What a week it's been. It's only Wednesday,
but what a what a week it's been so far?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yeah, Ryan, you know it's the day before Turkey Day,
the day before three football games we have and thankfully
this year we can wait till Sunday night to watch
our bills. We don't have to distress too much.

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Well, the nice part is, too, is that we'll talk
about this when we move forward towards the end of
the podcast. But there are some some rooting interests in
Sundays or Sundays and Thursday's football game, so we'll talk
about that as we move forward here. But you can
follow me Ryan Wolfe on Blue Sky at Betterlive than

(01:33):
Dead dot com on Blue Sky. Chris is all over
the internet on Twitter, Facebook, Blue Sky, Tumblr, Zanga. Remember that,
remember that website that you might be a little too
young for that.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
I'm not that much younger than you do. I don't
think I had one though, you know, I think I
think that was that predates me, but I know what
it is.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
And those Hawthorne Heights, those Hawthorne Heights days, so that
in my school normally we run things down as everybody knows,
not much to run down. It was the bye week weird.
It's always weird to be in the throes of football
season and there not be a Buffalo Bill's game. It
was a little difficult for me, at least I don't

(02:20):
know about you, Chris, to get into the games on Sunday.
Thankfully there was fantasy football to keep me locked in
and intrigued. But whether or not this is a faux pas,
I don't care. We ended up putting our Christmas tree
up last Sunday, last Saturday Sunday, because well, what other
time is there to do it? But at the same time,

(02:42):
I'm not I guess I don't remember Thanksgiving being this
late in the year. So it was just a nice
opportunity to take some time and get the tree up
and not have to interrupt any football, any Bills football
by doing that.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
No, not at all. It was you know, we had
some friends in town. I say we, Rachel had friends
in town and they stayed with us. So it was
nice to watch football a little bit, but also not
have to be so focused on the game. I'm not
entertaining people. It's kind of a relaxing weekend.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
So it was wonderful too because up here in Western
New York, Chris, we were so blessed with the Commanders
and Cowboys game, which was it started off very poorly,
it ended in such incredible fashion.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
How you go one down here as well, along with
the Panthers chief which we'll talk about later.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
Oh yeah, we got that one too.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Nothing like getting a touchdown pass and missing the extra
points to time the game after an improbable touchdown pass.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
You know, but.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Playing the Cowboys will do that to you. But hey,
our three big things, the the the excitement of the
week here, I mean again breaking on the fourth wall.
It's eleven o'clock at night on a Wednesday night. You're
you're getting about as much energy as we have here combined.
My watch was talking to me now apparently too. But hey,
are three big things brought to you. At puckluck dot com.

the games we saw this past week, and rightfully so,
the MVP race is heating up and no time like
the present to discuss really the I mean, I feel
like it was a two horse race, but because of

(04:50):
one game that went pretty damn well on Monday Night football,
you know, things, things kind of kind of jumped off
and set off a bit. And looking at obviously Josh Allen,
we know how good he has been this year. Now,
the crazy thing is that it's by no means Josh

(05:12):
Allen's best statistical season. He's projected three nine hundred and
thirty passing yards, twenty eight touchdowns, eight picks, with roughly
four hundred and eighty eight rushing yards. That was my
brilliant math was twenty eight point seven yards rushing per
game time six or any games plus the three hundred
and sixteen current rushing yards. So again, not his best

(05:33):
career year as a quarterback of the Buffalo Bills. But
Buffalo is on pace to have their best record under Allen.
Previously they were thirteen and three twice nine and two.
Right now, I mean, things are going pretty well for
the for the Buffalo Bills that we talked about. But
the two that I want to talk about here, Lamar Jackson,

(05:53):
two time MVP. He's projected four three D and twenty
five passing yards, thirty eight touchdowns, four picks with roughly
forty nine rushing yards. That's forty nine point nine per
game times five remaining games plus the five hundred ninety
nine current rushing yards. Here's the weird part about it, though,
this season statistically he's better projected, better stats projected than

(06:15):
his previous MVP seasons, but the difference is the record
is not there. Twenty nineteen thirteen to two thirty one
hundred and twenty seven passing yards, thirty six touches, six picks,
twelve hundred and six rushing yards, seven touchdowns. Twenty twenty
three thirteen and three three six hundred and seventy eight
rushing yard or passing yards twenty four touches, seven picks,

(06:37):
with eight hundred and fifty one rushing yards and six touchdowns.
This year, the Ravens are eighting four. So, before we
move on to the one player who is the flavor
of the week, the white hot MVP candidate, do you
feel like Lamar Jackson could potentially not win another MVP

(06:57):
solely based off the fact that the Ravens record is
not as good as it was in the past.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
When he won you know, you look at last year
and Josh Allen had the best one of his best
statistical years under his belt with you know, more than
forty total touchdowns, blew everyone out of the water with
the numbers, and Lamar ends up winning it. You know,
the joke that you see and I make it too,
is Lamar is having the best statistical year for quarterbacks,
so that means Josh Allen's gonna win the MVP this year.

(07:27):
You know, it seems like they take a take into
account team records, so you know, you'd have to think
that factors in a little bit, but you never know.
I think, you know, Josh should be nice for him
to win the MVP, but obviously he wants bigger and
better things for the team, So who knows. I mean,
I think Lamar is well deserving of it, But how
much does team record factor in considering there are eight

(07:50):
and four and not in the top two in the AFC,
whereas last year they were top two in the AFC,
but he didn't have the stats to back up what
he's doing this year, So who knows? Is pick your poison?
Which one do you want to do? Because I mean,
you see everyone comparing the stats this year of oh,
Lamar has the best stats compared to Josh Allen, whereas
people were doing that last year and Lamar still won

(08:11):
it over Josh. So the one thing that.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
I picked up on this week, Chris, in listening to
some podcasts was that the MVP is becoming essentially the
best quarterback that season and the Offensive Player of the
Year really is like the new MVP award, which doesn't
make a lot of sense, but I digress, excuse me,

(08:35):
but looking at it, it brings me to the next guy,
Saquon Barkley. Because Lamar Jackson has Derrick Henry. The Baltimore
Ravens defense is probably the worst that we have seen
it in many, many years. So I don't know that
you take that into consideration, but looking at Saquon Barkley

(08:57):
for instance, because the argument always is this, if you
take player X off the team, would they be better,
would they be worse, or would they be the same,
And this year is I mean, Lamar Jackson, don't don't
get it twisted. And same with Saquon Barkley. We're gonna
talk about a second. You take those players off those teams,

(09:18):
they're still gonna win a handful of games. They're still
gonna be very good because again, the Ravens have Derrick
Henry and the Eagles have all of the damn good
players the Eagles have. But we will at least have
the argument here. Running back Saquon Barkley projected three hundred
and forty five carries Chris He's projected for twenty one
hundred and fifty one rushing yards, fifteen touchdowns, with forty

(09:40):
two receptions for excuse me, three hundred ninety seven yards
and three touchdowns. That projection of twenty five hundred and
forty eight all purpose yards will be the fourth most
all time in a single season. Also, there has not
been a running back to win the NFL MVP suince
Adrian Peterson did it in twenty twelve. I know, I said,
Monday night, Sunday afternoon, all the same.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
Exactly.

Speaker 3 (10:04):
Saquon Barkley set the Eagles franchise record for most single
game rushing yards at two hundred and fifty five and
also most totally arts from scrimmage in the game. It
was the ninth most rushing yards in a game in
NFL history, in the highest total since two thousand and nine. Also,
Saquon Barkley became just a twelfth player in NFL history
with three hundred plus scrimmage yards in a game. So, Chris,
my opinion right now is that Saquon Barkley again flavor

(10:29):
of the Week. He's been really goddamn good this year,
like really good, like so good that he should probably
get all of the New York Giants fired at the
same time, because what a bonehead move that was to
let him go. But running backs don't get enough love,
and I can't imagine that again unless Saquon Barkley goes

(10:53):
completely like straight sicko mode for the rest of the
year and runs for I don't know, twenty four hundred
yards or something like. I can't see a way that
he's gonna win the MVP. But again, still an absolutely
impressive performance by Saquon Barkley so far this season and
on Sunday afternoon as well.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Yeah, I mean he's I mean, he's been amazing. You
talk about him and Derrick Henry, and you know, they're
both units of their own right and I think they,
you know, both have a little bit of chip on
their shoulder with going to a new team over the
last few years. Was Derrick Henry this past offseason. I
don't remember if it was this year last year either way,
in different scenarios, but also ultimately showing they still have

(11:36):
the gusto to perform at the position. And you know,
like you said, this week is the flavor of the
week being Saquon and I mean you see it now
from the giant side, and I'm sure we'll talk about
it later as well, just the mismanagement of that and
how I'm sure there's buyers remorse all around. Yeah, I mean,
I think it's tough when you know it's become a

(11:57):
passing game. You know, you got quarterbacks passing for over
four thousand yards consistently, and you know guys that can
run the ball as well. And you know, Josh Allen
is the second running back in the backfield every time
the Bills line up with Cook right, and you know,
same with Lamar and Henry. It's it's very much a
doozy of a scenario that you know, it's almost like

(12:20):
they get short sighted and you can look at some
of the odds and you don't even see Saquan or
Derrick Henry in the mix. It's all you know, this
quarterback this quarterback, that quarterback, and it's half the league's
quarterbacks are you know, MVP candidates. And I think you
hit the now on the head with the Offensive Player
of the Year being the quasi MVP as well, kind
of given some love elsewhere. But you know, Saquan's having

(12:43):
a hell of a year, and you know, you compare
it to twenty twelve with Adrian Peterson, he'd have more
more rushing years than Adrian Peterson had in that year
by about one hundred and more touchdowns, which he's already eclipsed.
So you know, unfortunately, I don't think that'll happen, but
hopefully he gets some love elsewhere outside of that.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
I mean, it's wild Sakwon Barkley is averaging six point
two yards of carry, Derrick Henry six yards of carry.
It's unbelievable that the top three rushers leading rushers in
the National Football League this year right now, Saquon Barkley,
Derek Henry, and Josh Jacobs all were unrestricted free agents
heading into this most recent offseason. And it's funny because

(13:30):
you know, you talk about running backs not getting love,
running backs not you know, being able to obtain the
bag essentially and Barkley, Henry and Jacobs may give there's
a chance at least that they could give free agent
running backs kind of a second life. I mean again,
Tony Pollard with the Titans, Aaron Jones with the Vikings, JK.

(13:52):
Dobbins with the with the Charges before he went down
with a knee injury this past week. Like, there are
players out there who have signed decent contracts with new
teams where people said, you know, hey, given running backs
a second or third contract is a death now for
your franchise. But I mean the good excuse me, sorry,

(14:12):
Like I said, folks, it's late. Taekwon Barkley a cut
from a different cloth, Derrick Henry future Hall of Famer,
cut from a different cloth. Josh Jacobs, one might argue again.

Speaker 1 (14:27):
Also cut from a different cloth.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
But these guys are not going to be available every
single year. Some people may end up getting themselves into,
you know, that mirage of hey, this really good football
player is going to be great, you know, if I
bring them to my team and put them in my system.
But you know, I don't know how many people right now.
ESPN's got Josh Jacobs projected for fourteen and fifty nine

(14:52):
rushing yards. I'm not sure how many people would have
saw that coming. You've got Derek Henry right now projected
for eighteen teen hundred and seventy seven rushing yards. I
mean again, people thought that Derek Henry was going to
be really good going to Baltimore. Don't know how many
people would have projected it would have been that good.
But with that being said, Chris rolling over to the

(15:14):
playoff picture, if the season ended today, I can hear
John just audibly sighing and groaning and just just overall
being pissed off about me saying that. But hey, got
talking about John. We made it a Thanksgiving Chris, without
me saying it. Pretty impressive, pretty impressive. In the we'll

(15:37):
thank you. We'll start off with the with the AFC,
because we're pretty familiar with it right now. One through
seven Kansas City, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Houston, Baltimore, the Chargers, and
the Broncos in the hunt. Miami at five and six
a sixteen percent chance to make the playoffs, Indianapolis at
five and seven a twenty one percent chance, and Cincinnati
at four and seven with a thirteen percent chance. You

(15:57):
want to talk about a team that is completely uh
been the equivalent of a monkey trying to f a football.
The Cincinnati Bengals. Man, you got Joe Burrow, who is
playing Like, here's the thing, Chris. You know, not many
people know this because they're not a part of the league.

(16:18):
I have Joe Burrow in Fantasy. I almost traded for
a different quarterback because I didn't think Joe Burrow was
doing that good. And then I started looking at the stats.
I started breaking it down, and I'm like, wait, this
guy is quietly having like an unbelievable season. Jamar Chase
having an unbelievable season, Trey Hendrickson leading the league in sacks,

(16:41):
the rest of that defense Dogwater like unbelievable. How bad
that defense has been this year. And if they were
like mediocre, they probably would be comfortably in a playoff
spot because again, Joe Burrow is absolute playing his ass off.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
But their yeah, yep. And and you know that's something
I talked about last week around the NFL is. You know,
he's have an unbelievable year. He you know, looking at
their last game when they lost the Chargers at the
last second, he had you know, three touchdowns and you know,
three hundred and fifty six yards passing. He's had at
least three touchdowns in his last three games, and they've
only won one of those. You know, I feel like

(17:24):
if your quarterback is throwing at least three touchdowns, you're
gonna win most of those games. And the only win
one of those is not ideal. You know, it's definitely
frustrating you. They've lost three of their last four, their
own loan win against the Raiders, and they still give
up twenty four points, you know. They they've given up
thirty points in their last three losses. So defense is

(17:48):
letting them down big time in in Cincinnati, that's for sure.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
I mean, Burrow right now was on pace for a
career high four thousand six and eighty passing yards, two touchdowns,
and six interceptions, which would be a low, a career
low for a full season, now, mind you, out of
the six years that he has played, which holy crab,
one two three, five years sorry one two three out

(18:14):
of the five years he's played, this would be the
only third full season of the five years he's been
in the league. But still like, you're gonna have a
quarterback that is on pace to throw for forty two
touchdowns and only six interceptions and you're probably gonna miss
the playoffs. Someone, if not a lot of people are

(18:35):
gonna get fired there.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Yeah, there's there needs to be an overhaul, and you
can't waste those years, you know, you can't waste that.
You just can't waste those years, especially with a quarterback
coming back after only playing ten games last year with
a big resurgence like this.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Well, that's the one thing I saw too, is that
they've got those freezing temperatures Bengals and Steelers. Joe Burrows
talking about it. Doesn't know if his wrist is gonna
hold up. That's terrifying. But at the same time, you
know what with with I I expect again, we're we're
we're b ltding trust of the podcast this week. I

(19:14):
don't know if Jamar I mean Jamar Chase I would
presume is gonna be back next year. I don't know
a long term extension is gonna be reached. I would
have to think that in their in their mind of mind,
it's gotta happen. But a guy, excuse me, like T Higgins.
T Higgins is walking out that door at the end
of the year. I I gotta believe that because someone
is gonna offer him Google Bucks stupid money, and I

(19:37):
mean rightfully so. But all of a sudden, and I
know Jamar Chase is incredibly talented, but all of a sudden,
you get double coverage on Jamar Chase. Who you're gonna
throw the ball to.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
I mean, I don't know their depth outside of that,
if I'm being honest with you.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
But well, I was gonna say, at the end of
the day, it's it's Cincinnati, not maximizing getting some sort
of title or some sort of run or some sort
of push behind. Excuse me, Joe Burrow, why you can
because now it gets Now you reach that point that
the Buffalo Bills are at where it's okay, you're building

(20:16):
around the quarterback. You're paying the quarterback. You got to
get cheaper and still stay good at the same time.
Looking at the NFC, you've got Detroit, Philadelphia, Seattle, Atlanta, Minnesota,
Green Bay, and Washington. In the Hunt you've got Arizona
six and five and fifty one percent, Tampa Bay five
and six and fifty four percent. In the Rams five

(20:39):
and six ten percent. The Rams lack consistency, Tampa Bay.
That NFC South is always so volatile and Arizona. I
excuse me, I just don't know Gino Smith. If you
want to talk about someone who's having a quietly a
wild old season, I I it blew my mind, Chris

(21:03):
when I saw this. Right now, Geno Smith is second
in the league by only a handful of yards. You
meant a thousand, three thousand and thirty five passing yards,
twelve touches, twelve picks. He's on pace for four six
hundred ninety passing yards and going nineteen for nineteen touches

(21:25):
to interceptions. I mean, but they've it feels like they've
just done enough, just done enough, ticket themselves to six
and five. Where they go from here? I don't know,
but for some reason that that NFC West is very

(21:46):
much cosplaying as the NFC South does every single season,
where a lot of good football, but nobody can be
better than mediocre exactly.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
And you know, you look at you talk about the
NFC South, I feel bad. You know you're either going
to get a red hot Vikings team who currently sits
fifth with the the second best record on the conference,
or a Detroit team if they fall off a little
bit going on the road in the playoffs. And then
you possibly have a Green Bay team that's one game
back of the Vikings, you know, going on the road

(22:18):
to the NFC West team that's you know, maybe three
games back of them, and you know people talking about
but I mean that's what makes it fun, gives you
an operation.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
Well you look right now, dude, you look right now,
say the season ends today, You've got Washington and Philadelphia,
green Bay at Seattle, and Minnesota Atlanta. You're looking potentially,
just based off record, having what green Bay headed, the Detroit,
Minnesota headed, the Philadelphia. Crazier things have happened, but like, wow,

(22:52):
that would be that would be electric, That would be wild,
just straight up wild. I mean, looking in the AFC,
we did not do this, but we can run through
it quick right now. Buffalo would host Denver, Pittsburgh would
host the Chargers, and Houston would host Baltimore. Excuse me, correct,
and so you know again all electric matchups.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Yes, and you talk about the best path. You know,
you want to talk about the bills a little bit.
I know John loves us looking ahead, but honestly, you
know the way it shapes up. You know, if it
holds chalk. You know, Buffalo doesn't have to worry about Baltimore,
and you know, you wouldn't have to worry about Kansas
City anyways until the AFC Championship, because I mean, obviously
that Baltimore team, you know, scares you a little bit,

(23:37):
especially with the whooping they put on you earlier this year.
And you know, even if there is an upset where
you know, five or six seed wins, you know you
still have to worry about playing the higher seed that's left.
And so unless you get multiple upsets, you're not seeing
the Ravens either until the AFC Championship. So with the
way it shakes out, you know, the Buffalo could be

(23:59):
having a not have to worry about one of it's
only one of its foes come early late January.

Speaker 3 (24:09):
I mean, at the end of the day, the goal, ultimately,
understandably is make the playoffs come through Buffalo. I mean,
Kansas City almost almost lost again in Carolina. I mean,
even when even when they win it, it looks close,
it looks difficult, it looks frankly like they pull the

(24:32):
rabbit out of a hat.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
But will that.

Speaker 3 (24:34):
Catch up with them? We'll see. I mean, I'm sure
the Kansas City Chiefs are not shaking in their boots
with you know, Aid and O'Connell pushing the the the
Las Vegas Raiders in the town. But again, you play
to win the game and that's why, you know, that's
why it took the damn field. But uh, I mean,

(24:55):
it's it's different, it's tough. It's it's tough to look
at right now because you think, Chris, that you have
a good idea. But there's still so much football left
to be played.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Oh there is. And you know, it's not even saying
that the Bills are going to hold onto the two
or jump to the one. You know, you'd like for
them to do one or the other. But there's still
have some you know, a couple of tough matchups here
before the end of the year. It's almost like the
uh the fun part of the roller coaster where it's
up and down. You know, they get San Francisco coming
to Buffalo, which you hope should be uh, you know,

(25:27):
a fair old matchup for me. And then you go
out to La who's been hot and cold, and you
go to the you know, argue with the best team
in the NFL in Detroit before closing out with three
straight divisional games so it's not an easy path, and
you know you still got to you still got to
win those games to hold that seating because Pittsburgh is
a game back, and all it takes is one game
to shift everything. And you got to get through week

(25:51):
eighteen before you can start looking at the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
Absolutely, I mean again, Denver has found something with Bonnicks.
The Chargers have been great with Justin Herbert again not
needing to do everything. That defense has been good. Baltimore
offensively hard to stop. Defensively, couldn't stop a nosebleed Houston.

(26:17):
I don't know if Houston is just falling victim too.
I mean, they've got a lot of guys that are hurt.
They've lost to Von Diggs, Nico Cowins was out for
a while, CJ. Stroud has regressed to the mean a bit.
But who are they Pittsburgh. I mean, I think people

(26:39):
could have seen that Brown's loss coming a mile away
because just Jameis Winston. There's just something about that freaking guy.
But Pittsburgh again, we talked about it last week. Pittsburgh's
got a lot of tough matchups coming up. Buffalo, tough
matchups coming up, Kansas City, tough matchups coming up. We
could look at this in three weeks from now and go, wow,
why were we even talking about that? Because it was

(27:00):
so crazy?

Speaker 1 (27:00):
But exactly and and I do. I don't want to
pull out. I told you so, but I confirmed it.
And it looks like Desmond Ridder will be uh leading
the charge for the Raiders this weekend going into tell me,
tell me so. I believe it is the case. I
saw it earlier today and doesn't look like it's gonna
be aid and O'Connell. It's going to be uh, Desmond Ridder.

(27:24):
I know they were hot.

Speaker 3 (27:25):
Uh brother, I told.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
You so, but it could be Aiden. Who knows.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
I'm telling you so right now. I got you. You
try to get me. I got you. Not so fast.
My friend Aidan O'Connor will covered from a broken thumb
on his right passing hand. We'll start at quarterback for
the Las Vegas Raiders of the Kansas City Chiefs. I
don't know that that's gonna work out well for them,
but I feel like they got.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Your sos are minuscule in the grand scheme of things here,
considering that, I mean, you're going to you know, probably cold,
cold ass.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
It's a it's a black it's a Black Friday football
game for the first time ever. It'll be a lot
of fun to watch. Speaking of fun, I'm gonna take
a quick commercial break here. We'll be back with Board
Trust the Podcast Ready for This on the on the
Gear Radio Network. And we're back here on Trust the
Podcast Around the NFL, Chris, We're doing it live. Brought

(28:25):

If you are local or Chris, the next time you
come up to visit, you can go to Go Frost
Yourself store front at twenty five to forty four Ridgeway
ab or at gofrost yourself dot com. Now, Chris, I

(29:06):
know this is your segment. I have written a couple
things down and there's also another Kansas anything that has
developed throughout the day today. First off, quarterback Daniel Jones.
He pulled the ultimate move and respect so much respect
because you know what, much like life, when you know

(29:30):
the time is right to cut ties? Why wait? Cut ties?
It was no secret the New York Giants were getting
ready to get rid of Daniel Jones. Daniel Jones said,
instead of sticking around, let me just get ahead, start
cut me. And they did. The Giants cut ties with
twenty nineteen first round pick Daniel Jones after benching him,

(29:51):
and I has mentioned Jones subsequently requesting his release. Chris.
Daniel Jones signed a four year, one hundred and sixty
million dollars contract extension. After that, he he went three
and sixteen, throwing ten touchdown passes to thirteen interceptions in
his career twenty four forty four and one fourteen, five
hundred and eighty two passing yards, seventy touchdowns, forty interceptions,

(30:12):
forty seven interceptions sorry, twenty one hundred and seventy nine
rushing yards, and fifteen touchdowns. As I so eloquently have
explained to too many people, he is dollar general Josh Allen.
They tried to do everything they can to make him
be Josh Allen in Brian Dables' system, but there's just

(30:33):
no there's no putting it any other way. After he
tore his acl there, he's just missing something. Whether it's trust,
whether it's comfortability, whether it just ain't right still. But
either way, Daniel Jones now a member of the Minnesota
Vikings practice squad, which for him smart move. Kevin O'Connell

(30:56):
seems like a quarterback whisper seems like a good for
Daniel Jones to spend some time at least before he
becomes a free agent again this offseason.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
You know, it's it's funny seeing guys like Sam Donald
and now Daniel Jones. Uh, and hope hopefully Daniel Jones
gets the same the same growth that Sam Donald has
because everyone thought Sam Donald was a bust and not
going to work out, and you know, now he's the
Vikings at you know, nine and two and one of
the best teams in the NFC. So, like you said,

(31:28):
quarterback whisper, I hope, Uh, you know, Daniel Jones being
an acc quarterback, a duke guy. You know, hopefully you
can write that ship a little bit and turn it around.
And you know, Josh Allen as Josh Allen though, so
it's hard to make someone into something that they're probably
not going to be. And I think Davill had had
an attempt. But also, you know, I think this is

(31:49):
we talked about it earlier with Saquon uh the double
the double nail in the coffin of man, you get
rid of Saquon now the guy that you put your
you know, the basket is broken from the ones that
you put your eggs in. So hopefully, hopefully they can
get it right in New York. But also, you know what,

(32:10):
live and learn, Live and learn your lessons.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Speaking of Duke, that was how Daniel Jones is playing
quarterback like Duke poop. It's a poop joke. Thank you,
thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Oooh, there was an attempt boo this man.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Anyways. Kansas City signs offensive lineman DJ Humphreys to a
one year deal. Returning from a torn acl he was
medically cleared last week as a veteran tackle who should
help stabilize Kansas City's line as long as he can
get back in a game shape. Quick. Now get this, Chris,
this was crazy to me. That was just the reason
it's in the podcast. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City quarterback. If

(32:47):
you weren't paying attention at home, he has been sacked
twenty seven times in eleven games. That's the same amount
that he was sacked in all of twenty twenty three,
his career high excuse me, twenty eight sacks and twenty
ti twenty one. His twenty twenty four sack rate six
point sixty two percent. That's the highest of his career

(33:08):
for a full season played at this point. That is,
passes attempted plus time sacked divided by time sacked gives
you the sack rate.

Speaker 1 (33:20):
You're talking about. That backs here Ryan a.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Lot about sacks late at night. I like that. I
like that TikTok. I saw where it says on Football Sunday.
I like to text my friend, Hey, nice as a
nice sack, and they go, what game you watching it?
I'm not watching a game. That's how I start doing
to people. But uh, I mean watching Kansas City. Patrick
Mahomes does very well against blitzing. But as we saw,

(33:46):
against the Bills. Chris, fill up those gaps, get those
lanes covered, and it's it's relatively easy to get to
Mahomes now. And it's not. I don't think it's something
anything Mahomes is doing wrong. I just don't think the
protection is very good.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
Yeah, I mean we saw it in the Buffalo game.
They kind of exposed that a little bit. And you know,
I don't have the numbers in front of me, but
I mean just watching that game, they kind of, you know,
they really got to him. I mean, the first throw
he had was picked because he had pressure. You know,
last throw he had was picked, and I believe there
was pressure there. So I mean, I think, you know,
he's he's more running for his life. It very much

(34:24):
felt early on Josh Allen esque of you know, you
got this great quarterback, but he's still running for his
life at times. And he's still Patrick Mahomes though, you know,
you know, love him right, and he's still you know,
three time Super Bowl champion that can you know, lead
a two minute drive in his sleep at this.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Man, this man, uh, I'll just put it very succinctly.
Pardon my French. Patrick Mahomes could fall into shit and
come up with smelling like roses. That's just some people
are just born lucky like that. And I mean it's hard.
You know, what do they say luck is when hard
work meets opportunity or whatever like that. That is Patrick mahomes.
He he has worked incredibly hard to put himself in

(35:06):
those situations. But I must say, yes, it's pretty feels
pretty goddamn good to watch him get sacked.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Hey, it's it's you know, I'll never not not watch
that especially.

Speaker 3 (35:18):
You know, and when you used to watch Brady get
jacked up and you're like, oh.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
That one two when Brady uh got hit in the
Bills game, what was it? A lawyer malloy, I believe
it was that hit on maybe Nate Clement, old Bills
safety that let him up dislodge the helmet. Look it
up on YouTube. Tom Brady gets uh lose his helmet
on a big hit.

Speaker 3 (35:41):
Hey, we can agree. I'm sure we can agree on
this one. The greatest, the greatest hit on a Bills
player ever Sean Taylor on Brian Mormon in the Pro Bowl.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
Oh yes, wow, you went Pro Bowl run on that one.

Speaker 3 (35:54):
That is that is one that I will never ever.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Ever forget that is a deep cut. That it's a
very good one. That's a very good one.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
Hey, speaking of deep cuts, going over to the Bills
game looking ahead here, guess who the legend of the
game is this week?

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Chris, I believe I know who it is. But Ryan
tell me Doug Flutey, Doug Flutey.

Speaker 3 (36:17):
Eyes, I are immaculate man.

Speaker 1 (36:23):
Yes, you know I brought up fluty flakes. I'm a
box myself. They are still sealed, They will still be
sealed and will not be eating them.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
That is something I thought you did. Ask me. Yes,
I had a box of fluty Flakes for a very
long time, much like I had a box of weedies
from was it ninety nine or whatever year, two thousand,
whatever year the Mark McGuire hit seventy three home runs
or seventy one home runs or whatever it was, had
that box as well. I believe they have since met

(36:53):
their maker because the boxes were trashed. But either way,
Doug flute at the Bill game on Sunday night, and
boy is it going to be a memorable one, because
first off, it's Week thirteen, It's Buffalo Verus San Francisco
Sunday night football National televised eight to twenty pm on NBC. Chris,

(37:20):
we mentioned very important game happening on Thursday night on
Thanksgiving Thanksgiving. If that's not right Thanksgiving night. If the
Miami Dolphins lose on Thursday night at the Green Bay Packers,
Buffalo can clinch their fifth straight AFC East title on

(37:42):
Sunday night with a win over the forty nine ers. Man,
we have reached that point of the season where we
are now on playoff watch, and BOYD does BOYD does
it feel good? It feels pretty goddamn good.

Speaker 1 (37:57):
It feels. It feels great considering last year year. You know,
we were three games back with three to play. I
believe it was, and we you know, Miami helped us out.
We beat Miami in the regular season. We take the
AFC title for a fourth straight year. Now we can
win it on the first day December. You know, we
have to play our game now. Miami won last week,

(38:19):
so that that that that means we have to beat
San Francisco for to you know, Clint the title, whereas
we could have not even played a snap as I
covered last week. But be it as it may. Hopefully
December first brings us an AFC East title. We can
look forward to AFC seeding for the rest of the year.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
And as John said before and as John will probably
say again, not bad for a rebuilding year. Huh.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
You know, I tweet it from time to time down year,
you know, I mean, I think you said the vibes
are immaculate. I think the past couple of years we said, man,
is this, you know, one of the best Bills teams
we've seen in our lifetime. And I don't know, this
one just feels a little bit more different.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
They keep getting better, man, And that's that's I think
we're at that. We're at that point now with this
Buffalo Bill squad that hands down, no matter how the
season ends, this is the best well well rounded Buffalo
Bill squad I can remember watching in my lifetime. And

(39:25):
it is a lot of fun. It is a lot
a lot a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Agreed. And you know the you know, we keep getting healthier,
which we will talk about.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
Yeah, well, before we talk about the health, talk about
the weather. Talk about the weather Mother Nature's health. So
right now, Sunday night, there is a weather watch out there. Quote.
The forecast is currently calling for freezing temperatures, possibly snowfalling
winds that could exceed twenty miles per hour. The National
Weather Service in Buffalo has called for potential low visibility

(39:56):
with snow on the roads, possibly impacting travel because and
we're gonna go weather nerd real quick, because the lakes
are still so warm, warmer than normal. Essentially they have
become powder kegs. So when those storms cross the lakes,
the lake brings up the warm water, which helps create

(40:16):
the lake effects snow, which is going to pour an
ass load of snow on the western New York area.

Speaker 1 (40:25):
Do we have a conversion chart for aslo to inches?

Speaker 3 (40:29):
I mean they are saying twelve to thirty between between
Thursday to Monday. I believe it is for South Buffalo, Dunkirk,
for Dounia, places like that, a little north maybe Springville,
where friend of the Pod Brydon Wilson resides. So again, uh,

(40:54):
can we get it? Can we get a conversion chart
ass load to inches? You set me up on that one, good.
But I know you're parents are listening, so I don't
want to say anything I'm gonna get in trouble for.
But uh, it's gonna snow a lot. But here's the
thing though, this is this isn't anybody in Western Euracle
listening knows. It's very volatile where the wind direction could

(41:14):
move just a bit, which could change where the bulk
of the snow ends up. My best guess being probably
gonna get some flurries on Sunday night, Gonna be very cold.
It's gonna be one of those one of those where
they say, one of those lunch pal kind of games.

(41:35):
You just show up, you go to work and the
news is great. Out of practice Chris josh Allen, quarterback,
not on the injury report, but the first time since
Week one not wearing a glove and practice. Don't know
if he'll wear one in the game, especially with the
cold temperatures. Maybe, but the fact that he's not wearing
one and he's also not the report. Fantastic wide receiver

(41:57):
key On Coleman. His wrist injury is still a thing.
He practiced in a red non contact jersey, did not
appear to have anything on his wrist. Though listed as limited.
Amari Cooper wide receiver had still a risk injury. His
left wrist was still wrapped at practice despite being a
full participant. It's expected that the next week or two
we should drop that cast. He should be fully healed.

(42:17):
Tight End Dalton Kincaid knee injury, did not participate in practice.
Not good, but the good news. The big news. Linebacker
Matt Malano's bicep injury was a participant in practice wearing
a regular white jersey, which bodes well for his status.
On Sunday, he was a full participant in As Seal
Capaccio points out on Twitter, there really are four options
for the Buffalo Bills. One, activate him to the fifty

(42:39):
three man roster by Saturday at four, make him active
on Sunday he suits up Sunday. Second, you can activate
him to the fifty three man roster by Saturday at four,
but he is an active or does not play on Sunday,
remains on the fifty three man roster, ken play moving forward.
Number three, Do not activate by Saturday at four, he
cannot play Sunday, but can still activate it by next
Thursday and then eligible to play after that. Or forge

(43:01):
not activated by next Thursday and he goes back on
the IR and cannot play for the rest of the season.
Right now, the fifty three man roster is at fifty
two people, so it really feels like that spot is
waiting on the return of Matt Milano, but also defensive
tackle Dwayne Carter rist injury, was a full participant. He's

(43:23):
on the IR but his window is opened up. Also
with offensive lineman Tyland Grable with a growing injury. He
is a full participant, but he is still on the IR.
Spencer Brown limited participant, but he confirmed he will return
the line up on Sunday night after missing the Bills
game against the Chiefs. So again everything's coming up Bills
so far, Chris and with the forty nine ers coming

(43:44):
to town. The beat up and beat down forty nine
Ers five and six, two and three away tied for
second the NFC West last week a thirtyeth to ten
lost to Green Bay really feels like a super hangover
this year. They look human, man, They've last five years
there were fifty four and twenty nine three NFC West
titles to Super Bowl appearances, both losses to the Chiefs.

(44:05):
But injuries are adding up and continue to just decimate
this forty nine er squad for Matt Barrows of the
athletic quarterback Rock Perty was limited in practice with a
shoulder injury. He threw one pass and then did not
throw the rest of practice. Quarterback Savarious Ward personal he

(44:25):
was full participant. I looked up this name before. Diamador
leonor knee did not practice. Offensive tackle Trent Williams, with
a knee and a heel injury, was on a scooter
in the locker room. Apparently walking has said to be painful.
And also linebacker Fred Warner has reportedly not looked himself
since before. I haven't watched forty nine Ers games to

(44:47):
confirm this, but he's been dealing with an ankle injury.
Turns out he has a fracture in his ankle that
he's been playing through, which is wild to me. But Chris,
these forty nine ers, man, they had big, big, big hopes.
That's your big expectations, and they can just not get
out of their own way. Good, bad or indifferent.

Speaker 1 (45:08):
Yeah, it seems like, you know, the the positive vibes
from the injury reports this week are going in opposite
directions for these teams. And you know, it seems like
Buffalo is, you know, all but one hundred percent healthy
here at this point. You know, Milano is still to
be determined. Kinkaid maybe this week. You know, we know,

(45:29):
like Sean, you know, Sean McDermott likes to take his
time with injuries, whereas you know, on the opposite side
of the field, the forty nine ers, you know, braindon
now looks like he'll be starting for them. Alan versus
Allen matchup, a whole other slew of guys out. CMC
is just now coming back past couple of weeks. How
much is his injury still hurting him? I don't. I

(45:55):
don't enjoy that envy that for the Niners. We've been
on that side of it where people are banged up
and you're thinking you're about to get healthy, and then
you have expectations and another person gets healthy and it's
just it just it just unravels itself and next thing
you know, you're three games out of a spot or
whatever it is, and just trying to hang on till
the end of the year.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
Yeah. Again, not getting ahead of ourselves here, But excuse me.
With Buffalo getting healthier, that's awesome, It feels fantastic. I mean,
Dalton King kid being out not great, but excuse me.
He has been limited in his effectiveness this season, but

(46:37):
getting Amari Cooper, Ian Coleman, Matt Mulano, Spencer Brown, all back,
bro sign me up, and ESPN's matchup predictor, sixty one
point three percent of America lose. Buffalo will return from
the bye week in style, Chris quickly prediction who you got?

Speaker 1 (47:03):
You know, I think it's it's an obvious choice. The
Bills I believe are six and oh after the bye
under Sean McDermott. I think they go to seven and oh.

Speaker 3 (47:13):
Got to a good stat right there.

Speaker 1 (47:15):
And I believe their record in December is something like
fifteen and two in the regular season in the last
however many years, I think, also under McDermott.

Speaker 3 (47:26):
So yeah, speaking of that, just to jump in here,
real QUI, because you're talking about such government records here
all the Buffalo Bills are an NFL best fourteen and
two in the regular season. Since Sean McDermott had to
openly and actively deny the fact that he's an al
Qaeda sympathizer.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
If the fact that I want to describe it, let's
go for it, Chris.

Speaker 3 (47:49):
The fact that that is even a sentence that we
are able to recite in the Lord's Year twenty twenty four, Bro,
I told you the vibes are immaculate. They are like and.

Speaker 1 (48:02):
How many ones do they have through eleven games this year?

Speaker 3 (48:06):
We talked about this, We talked about this last week,
but nine of eleven.

Speaker 1 (48:11):
Worth repeating it is it is part of this conversation.
But yes, six and.

Speaker 3 (48:16):
Oh, the Bills making the playoffs is an inside job.

Speaker 1 (48:25):
If you could see Chris's face right now, the silence
is deafening, and then I can hear John going bah.
But yes, I am in the sixty one point three
percent of America. Bills will win. I think the Bills
win comfortably on Sunday night. I think they come back refreshed.

(48:48):
I think, as we talked about, perfect time to have
the bye after a big Chiefs win, start the second
half of the season, finish it out and look towards
the postseason.

Speaker 3 (48:58):
I think ideally for a night, the goal is to
get up big early so you can let guys like
Amari Cooper and key On Coleman kind of just take
the rest of the night off and you rely on
Mac Collins and James Cook and Ray Davis and Johnson
all sorts of guys like that, Dawson, Knox, whatever. But

(49:20):
I've decided earlier this evening I am not picking against
the Bills this game or for the rest of the season.
To be honest, I mean, this team is. We don't
know what the story of this team is going to be,
but right now this has been, currently is, and currently

(49:42):
will be the best version of the Buffalo Bills that
I've seen in my lifetime. And I am all in.
I think the Bills are gonna win on Sunday. I
mean the forty nine ers, healthy not healthy, always pose
a threat because Kyle Shanahan is a is a pretty
smart guy, pretty good coach, if I may say so myself.

(50:08):
But I think the Buffalo Bills is gonna win on Sunday. Again,
Let's have some fun, let's enjoy it, and we don't
have a sound Chris, but excuse me. We know Chris
Berman always says it every single week.

Speaker 1 (50:22):
On a podcast.

Speaker 3 (50:23):
No one suggles of wagons like the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 1 (50:30):
Chris.

Speaker 3 (50:32):
I appreciate you taking the time to join me in
a podcast here.

Speaker 1 (50:35):
This evening always a pleasure, Ryan, especially John John's Holy
jack Wagon. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (50:44):
I was gonna say something, but it didn't make sense
in my head, so I'm not gonna say it.

Speaker 1 (50:48):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (50:49):
For for Chris, Chris, I wish you, your family. Very
Happy Thanksgiving everybody out there. Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate,
if you do not celebrate, Happy Thursday, and happy Friday
if you have that off as well. Some of us do,
some of us don't. But for Chris Downey, I am

(51:10):
Ryan Wolf. We are trust the podcast, You're not. We
will catch the same time, same place next week as always.
Go Bills, Thank you for tuning in, Thank you for
tuning in, and go bills. And Chris, you're supposed to
say catch out now like John does.

Speaker 1 (51:31):
Sorry, I'm not John.

Speaker 3 (51:32):
Go Go Bills, Go Bills.

Speaker 1 (51:35):
