Speaker 3 (00:41):
Kind of boring.
Speaker 1 (00:43):
We'll talk about a little bit. We'll talk about that though,
do we have to is it?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
How big of a big thing will this game be?
To be honest, I can't imagine it's going to be
a big thing.
Speaker 1 (00:53):

Have better Live than Dead dot com on Blue Sky
Coach Johnsonmino at, I AMJC money on Threadson at imjcmoney
dot bsky dot Social John Yo. Oh man, it's the
first podcast of twenty twenty five. First off, the first
Bills game of the of the new year was not
that exciting recap here, being that Buffalo loses the most
(01:55):
meaningless game in recent memory twenty three to sixteen. Mind you,
a win, loss or tie did not change what was
already set in stone. The Bills were the number two
seed in the AFC, scheduled to host the seven seed
whomever that ended up being. Yeah, but sorry, my dog
is now down here in roaming around, I feel like
I'm at the good this.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Ryan. You you got you got a zone in brother,
you got to get in that zone. Eliminate the distractions,
you know what I mean? And I don't mean physically eliminating,
because my god, that would be that would be cool.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
It's just it's just every time I turn my head,
there's something else going on down here, and it's just
I'm trying to get stuff accomplished and it isn't happening. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
You know what helps? You know what helps is over
the ear headphones, Yeah, or just a lock on the
door so I could hear.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
This was been two, John, This was the first time.
This was a fun stat the first time in the
last thirty years, there have been four quarterbacks to take
a snap from scrimmage on the first quarter of in
a game involving the Buffalo Bills, Drake May, Joe Milton
the Third, Josh Allen, and Mitchell Trubisky. Nothing really to
look into that other than it's neat. But the Buffalo
Bills finished the season at thirteen and four, once again
(03:00):
to reconfirm for the ninetieth time today, Buffalo is set
to enter the playoffs as the two seed in the
a f C.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
Give me ninety one? What was that again? What give
me the ninety first time? What was that again?
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Oh? You're sorry, Sorry, I didn't hear you there. I
was already I was already number actual seed, the number
two seed in the a f C. Brother very good.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
There, very good.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
He's already set asides in the playoffs. Quote after the game,
everything has earned. There's nothing really given or nothing given
in the playoffs. You're going against the best every week,
and we start with one week and one really one
day at a time and get back in here and
find out when we play and take it one day
at a time. So again, there had to be a
game played on Sunday. Nobody's gonna say, eh, you know,
(03:46):
this is dumb, We're not gonna do that whatever, blah
blah blah.
Speaker 4 (03:49):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
So they showed up. They did what they had to do.
They played second mostly third string players with this game.
With this season, the Buffalo Bills, joined in Kansas City,
is the only teams to win ten plus games and
earn a playoff berth and each of the last six
seasons Sean McDermott. Since he became the head coach in
twenty seventeen, the Bills have earned seven playoff berths, tying
them with Philadelphia for the second most in that eight
(04:12):
year span, behind only Kansas City at eight. Not surprising there,
but moving over to our three big things here really quick,
John A new sponsor, A new sponsor, a new friend
of the pod are three big games brought to you
by Buffalogo. Buffalogo is a is. They're a Buffalo based

Can I get a hey, I'm just kidding, welcome, welcome, buffalogo,
thank you for Yeah.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
I would, I would respond to that, but we would
end up going into like this never ending cycle of
just singing that that song.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
So but welcome Buffalo, Yes, Buffalo goo, Welcome, well, welcome.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
We're happy to have you on board. We're happy that
you're supporting us, and we're supporting you. Love the stuff
you guys are doing. There's, like I said, there's a
T shirt right now they've got their MVP line out
with Josh Allen, because obviously we believe and we know
the real MVP Josh Allen. There's one where the photo
of the bills putting the crown on Josh Allen's head,
and they've they've made a nice shirt out of it.
So I will be purchasing that one here shortly, but John.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Actually going to the site right now to take a
look at it.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Speaking of wrapping up, of Josh Allen wrapping up the offense.
There was a talk I.
Speaker 3 (06:34):
Love that shirt.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
Holy cow. There was talk about Josh Allen, how many
snaps would he play? How much of the game would
he play, because again, his streak of consecutive starts is
very important to both him and the franchise, which is
great to see. He came in for the first play,
handed the ball off, ran off the field to cheers
and laughs, and the sideline was very happy to get
him out of their healthy but history of the NFL
(06:57):
with Josh Allen. This extends his streak of consecutive starts
to one hundred and fifteen games at his regular season
in playoffs, actively the longest start streak in the NFL
by a quarterback. He has started every game at quarterback
for Buffalo since November twenty fifth, twenty eighteen. For those
paying attention, now, this is the evening of January seventh,
twenty twenty five. It's a pretty long time. But you
(07:18):
think one hundred and fifteen games is a lot, try
the record being three hundred and twenty one that is
regular season in postseason total combined by Brett Farvre. I
know that sometimes people don't like to include the postseason,
because not everybody makes the postseason, so that, you know,
it's kind of a time to beat up your stats.
But ye, this man, this man has played one hundred
(07:40):
and fifteen straight games at quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 3 (07:43):
Acting crazy, Yeah, it is incredible. And you know what's
actually crazy when you mentioned that and talking about how
people are like, oh, we don't really want to include
you know, should we include the postseason? Well, there was
a stat by the time Tom Brady's career ended, he actually,
because of the amount of playoff games that he started
and played in, including super Bowls and all of that,
it actually equated to something like an extra season and
(08:04):
a half when you put all of those those together.
So that's that's nothing to sleep on. That's that's wear
and tear on the body, additional wear and tear in
the body that maybe some in the regular season that
don't have the benefit of going to the playoffs or
super Bowl or whatever have So that's that's that's pretty
damn good. And that's pretty tough to do one hundred
(08:25):
and fifteen games, let alone three hundred and twenty one.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Well, and you see, and we've seen, you've seen we've
seen We've all seen you scream ice cream. We all
scream for Josh Allen. You know the bumps, the bruises,
the shoulders, the elbows, the thing broke many hands, the
the the next, the backs, the I'm not going to
continue that. Yeah, it's just we can try good impression
(08:49):
this week. Okay, I'm trying to be on my best.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
Here are you trying not to swear for the for
mister and missus Downey, who get an honorable mention for
every single episode. That is correct, I will do this
since I've already mentioned them. Mister and Missus Downey. First
of all, thank you for listening, and secondly, I apologize
in advance for any forthcoming f bombs you may hear.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Hey, I'm I'm on my best I'm on my best behavior.
I got my p's and q's in line over r
whatever the kids say.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
That, I'm I'm not fuck Okay.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
So Mitchell Trubisky ends up coming in fifteen for twenty
one passing for one hundred and one yards, one touchdown,
had four cares for twelve yards. The reason we mentioned
Mitchell Trubisky, well, first off, we never pass up the
opportunity to talk about money.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Mitch, Mitch.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
His two y touchdown, You're You're gonna get me in trouble,
a two yard touchdown pass to running back Ray Davis
in the first quarter, was Buffalo's thirtieth passing touchdown of
the year, making Buffalo the first team in NFL history
with thirty or more passing touchdowns and thirty or more
rushing touchdowns in a season. That is wild.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
That's very wild, very wild. And you know, as we
get a little bit later on into the podcast, perhaps
talking about it VP talk here, how that correlates to
the MVP talk is very very interesting. It is a
very interesting stet that I had heard about. I don't
know if maybe you told me or no, no, actually
I heard it from Dan or Lobsky and ESPN. But
(10:13):
we can continue with this, and.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
You feel free to dump it in because I've talked
about this before. Man, the the MVP talk has gotten
so toxic and this is crazy. This is crazy for
me to say. Josh Allen has never won an MVP. Obviously,
has he been the MVP, probably, but he hasn't won it.
I'm at the point now where I don't care who
wins it. At this point, because the conversation has become
(10:35):
so toxic. It was a lot of fun stuff, really is,
and then Ravens fans on social media just became well
downright nasty and it's just not fun. I don't have I.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Don't like how they've made it into a race thing.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
I don't have the underlying lead well among other things. Yeah, like,
it's not a black first white thing. It's not a
it's it's really not anything. I mean, both of these
guys deserve the award, but then you look back and
you go not to go on it tangent here, but
it's it's essentially well, Lamar Jackson had last year, you
had a better season, Dak Prescott had a better season,
(11:08):
blah blah, and you're like, dude, I don't care. I
don't me.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Well, the way that I think about it is it's
the same stance that I had back when we started
having these MVP chats about Josh Allen week eight nine
or whenever it was, I can't remember, but when we
started having those things, and to me, when I'm looking
at the MVP, to me, that is the person that
brings the most to the team. And when I say
(11:33):
when I.
Speaker 1 (11:33):
About overcoming things too, because again we talk about it
and you look at and again I'm I literally just
said I don't care, and I'm telling you about how
I care. But you look at things like this was
a rebuild year for the Buffalo Bills. They they came
out and said it themselves. You had the entire the
entire veteran corps. The Bills let them walk except for
Micha I do. They brought back a in a de
(11:56):
facto coaching role late in the season. It's Josh Allen's
team now, and this is what they do. This is
what they weren't able to accomplish thirteen and four.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
I don't I don't know that I totally subscribed to
the to the MVP meaning overcoming something. I think that's
more reserved for Player of the Year.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
The v the MVP award has become what has this
it's it's really become what quarterback We've talked about that,
but exactly what quarterback has meant the most to their team,
has done the most for their team this and and
this vacuum. This team had a power vacuum and someone
needed to take the role and run with it, and
Josh Allen did that that's right.
Speaker 3 (12:37):
And then and this has already overperformed this year, right,
And this is where this is where the the point
that I've been making about Josh Allen what he means
to this team. You remember, Ryan, how many times have
I said, if you take Josh Allen off of this
Buffalo Bills team right now, they're they're not. They're not
a playoff team. They're they're not. And and we could argue,
(13:00):
we could argue, yeah, but the stats show maybe they
could be wild this this whatever, like, No, this would
be a radically different team with Josh Allen because the number.
Dan Orlowski at ESPN he did some stats analysis between
Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson and really what it boils
down to is this, Josh Allen accounts for eighty percent
(13:21):
or accounted for eighty percent of the offensive plays they
ran through him. Eighty percent of the offense was Josh Allen,
where in comparison to the Baltimore Ravens, only sixty seven
percent of it.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
And that's not to.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Say only sixty as if that's a bad thing, that's
a that's a big number two. But sixty seven percent
of the offense ran through Lamar Jackson in comparison to
it to eighty or eighty one percent, I think it
was the offense that ran through Josh Allen. So again,
you take Josh Allen out, you're losing eighty percent of
your offensive production there. And that's not going to be
made up by a money Mitch or a Mike White.
(13:55):
I don't care how much I I'm of Migeletokkain and
I I'm a fan of. That's the difference maker. Josh Allen,
single handedly, I'm going to go on record and say,
single handedly put Buffalo as a team in the position
that they are in now, and if he was not there,
(14:18):
they would not be there. And the difference to me,
when I look at those two numbers and I look
at those stats between Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen and
the offensive production and everything, the difference to me is
Dereck Henry. If Dereck Henry was not on that team
running for two thousand yards, I would argue that Lamar's
offensive production would probably be up closer to where Josh
(14:41):
Allen's is, But it's not. Josh Allen is the cause
of and solution to all of their rebuild problems. From
this year, and that's what makes m MVP.
Speaker 1 (14:52):
The discussion here too is you look at things like,
if we were to have we could probably fill a
whole episode. I'll just leave it at this. You look
at things like separation, wide receiver separation. Lamar Jackson leaps
and bounds is the highest in the league when it
comes to wide receiver separation, so he's thrown to most
of the time, thrown to open guys. Sure, and you
got Josh Allen. You you look earlier in the year
(15:13):
when they were when they without Khalil Shakir and they
were the wide receivers were pretty much just playing with
cornerbacks and safeties on their backs because they could not
get any separation. It got better as the year went on,
but again there are there are a lot of trials
and tribulations as Buffalo Bill's team has has had to overcome.
And I think again Josh Allen is the is honestly
the key reason why that why that's been able to happen,
(15:35):
and I certainly think that Josh Allen should be the MVP.
Lamar Jackson probably the Offensive Player of the Year, which
really has become the real MVP award at this point,
because m VP more or less is who's the best quarterback,
much like the Heisman Trophy became for quite some time
there and still kind of is despite Travis Hunter winning
this year. I mean, I think Saquon Barkley also has
(15:58):
a real good shot to win the the Offensive Player
of the Year. That's going to be a very interesting
U award to break down when it actually does get awarded.
But I mean, I think it's a complete cop out.
If if there's gonna be a co MVP, just grow
a pair and name one of the guys. Look at
if Josh Allen doesn't win the MVP, will he be
bummed out? Probably? But is it going to ruin his life?
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Now?
Speaker 1 (16:21):
The goal here is to win the Super Bowl and
that's what the Buffalo Bills are trying to do. I
mean again, yes, like people, here's the thing, here's the
thing they talk about. Okay, well, well again MVP talk.
Buffalo has the best offensive line in the league, so
that should be kind of a strike against Josh Allen
because you know, again this year, the offensive line a
lot of an NFL best fourteen sacks. Feuse if any
(16:41):
team since two thousand and nine, second consecutive season Buffaloes
that the NFL and sacks allowed, they had twenty four
and twenty twenty three. I mean, but then I look
at the next stat here, per at ESPN stats at Info,
Buffalo's had eight giveaways this year. That tied the twenty
nineteen Saints for the fewest turnovers in a single season
since at least nineteen thirty three. What was the narrative
(17:02):
coming into the season, Josh Allen, you took the good
because it's very good with the bad. It's it's fine,
Like interceptions are fine, arm punts are fine. This year
they had eight giveaways that includes Josh Allen's interceptions, So
again like he stepped up his performance. Sure, so I
(17:24):
mean that's again, I'm I'm that's I don't get anymore.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
In the year.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
When it's when it's time or you know, when they
when they actually award the m VP and and then
we can finally break it down, I would.
Speaker 3 (17:35):
I would imagine that that is going to be an
episode in and of itself.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Absolutely.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
One thing I loved about this game on Sunday, John Uh,
It's it's absolutely fantastic. Sean mcderbott and the Buffalo bills
as a whole were very very wrapped up and getting
getting that paper for their players who had contract extent
contract incentives. First off, running back James Cook ten carries
for twenty eight yards and a touchdown. He has the
(18:03):
second consecutive year or season with one thousand plus rushing yards.
First excuse me, Buffalo running back with back to back
one thousand plus rush yard season since l Shan McCoy
did it in twenty sixteen. In twenty seventeen, he also
scored his sixteenth rushing touchdown of the season, tying OJ Simpson,
who had sixteen and nineteen seventy five, for the most
rushing touchdowns in a regular season in franchise history. Cook
(18:23):
is among players to play sixteen plus games in consecutive
seasons in the National Football League. James Cook's improvement of
plus fourteen rushing touchdowns he had two last year in
twenty three to sixteen and twenty four is tied for
the third largest improvement in NFL history all time. Also,
wide receiver Matt Collins had three receptions on four targets
(18:44):
for twenty five yards. He hit his thirty reception thirtieth
reception of the season, which triggered a fifty thousand dollars
contract incentive, and again to wrap up, to bring it down,
to wrap up the defense and special teams again talking
about getting that paperback. Von Miller had one tackle which
was solo at tackle for lost a quarterback hitting a sack.
It was his sixth back of the season. Or he
(19:06):
hit that mark, I should say to get a one
point five million dollar contract incentive. Punter Sam Martin same thing.
The Bills were very very some might say over cautious
with punting early on in the game. It was Sean
McDermott trying to get his guy his incentive, his contract incentive.
Sam Martin came into the game one punt down inside
(19:29):
the twenty yard line. One more would get him one
hundred thousand dollars. In the third quarter, it got this series,
Sean McDermott had Sam Martin punt from New England's thirty
five yard line instead of attempting a field goal. Cornerback
JaMarcus Ingram ended up plunging into the end zone, batting
the ball out of the end zone to the six
yard line, successfully giving Martin his twenty fifth punt of
this season down inside the twenty yard line, triggering a
(19:52):
one hundred thousand dollars contract incentive.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
That's awesome that that team has done that for him.
You know, probably not happy about that though, very well.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
I'm gonna swear tough shit on Twitter post game JaMarcus
Ingram the venom of a Savers fan, mister Pegoula, that
is from the venom of a Savers fan. You're very
right there, JaMarcus Ingram. This is per Alex Braski on Twitter.
JaMarcus Ingram says he was unaware Sam Martin needed one
more punt to land inside the twenty to cash is incentive,
but now that he knows, Martin says he is taking
(20:23):
Ingram out to dinner. Ingram says, quote, I'm looking forward
to it. I eat a lot, So that's awesome to see.
Because again, nothing to play for, might as well play
for contract incentives. Also, Javon Solomon had seven tackles for solo,
one tackle for a lost, one quarterback hit in a
fumble recovery. His fumble recovery John improves Buffalo's turnover margin
(20:45):
to an NFL best plus twenty four, which is the
best since New England in twenty twelve. They had a
plus twenty five turnover margin. So again, this team is
completely different. This team has improved. This team is much better.
They haven't really had to play meaningful football in a
little while, so it's gonna be fun to see how
they play in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
But yeah, that's what I'm That's what I am. I
am anxiously anticipating. Like you know, it's been kind of
the playoffs have kind of been set for the past
few weeks, give or take just seating I suppose. But
now that we've got everything locked and loaded and ready
to go and we have the slate in front of us, man,
am I ready for for this weekend?
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Well, while we're locked and loaded and ready to go,
why don't we take a quick commercial breakdown. We'll come

and now we're gonna head on over to our unpaid intern,
(22:54):
the Holy jack Wagon, mister Chris Downey for a round
the NFL. Chris, take it away, Thank you.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Ryan and John, and welcome to the final week of
the regular season here in the NFL. This is your
around the NFL and we are at the playoffs now.
John and Ryan talked about their playoff predictions. I'll reveal
mine here in a few minutes, but we got to
go around the NFL. It was Week eighteen. A lot
of guys are hitting incentives, hitting milestones. You know, you
(23:23):
had a couple in the Bills game. You know there's
plenty around the league. You know, Mike Evans, the Buccaneers
were passing the ball late in the game, potentially risking
their playoff opportunity. Mike Evans gets his thousand yards in
their game. Looking around the NFL really quick. The Ravens
secured the three seed with their win against the Browns.
On Saturday, the Bengals beat the Steelers, but we're eliminated
(23:45):
from playoff opportunity as the Denver Broncos late of whooping
on the backups for the Kansas City Chiefs thirty eight
to nothing. We go to the night cap the Vikings
and the Lions. The Lions behind four touchdowns from Jamiir
thirty one to nine winners over the Vikings, the Lions
taking over the top spot, or excuse me, securing they
(24:05):
never took it over, they held it, securing that top
spot fifteen and two, the Vikings fourteen and three is
a five seed. You know, not much else happened around
the league. Those were the two big things. Denver securing
the seven seed coming to Buffalo, the Lions taking the
first seed in the NFC. But let's go around the
NFL looking at your playoffs top seeds in each division.
(24:29):
The chiefs for the AFC have that locked up for
a few weeks, as we've talked about. The Lions get
that first round by with their win over the Vikings
going down the AFC playoff picture of the two seed
Buffalo Bills, as it has been talked about, will be
talked about host the Denver Broncos. This weekend. The Ravens
host AFC North rivals of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the
(24:50):
Chargers head to Houston to take on the AFC South champion,
the Houston Texans. Now on the NFC side the Philadelphia Eagles,
they are the two seed. They are hosting the eleven
and six Green Bay Packers through see Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
winners of the NFC South, securing that win this past
week in Week eighteen, as the Falcons lost in overtime,
(25:10):
but The Buccaneers also won. They're hosting the Commanders and
rookie quarterback Jaden Daniels and the four to five matchup.
The l A Rams hosting the fourteen and three Minnesota Vikings. Now,
the Rams are hot and they're at home, but the
Vikings are also fourteen and three led by Sam Darnold,
so we shall see what happens. We're gonna keep this
one quick here. We're gonna keep it quick, simple, Ryan, John,
(25:36):
it's playoff prediction time and again, we've talked about it.
We've talked about it multiple times here. Ryan and I
pretty similar. We both think the Bills are gonna make
the Super Bowl. Well, both think the Bills are gonna
win the Super Bowl. You know, I think that there
are opportunities for the Bills to slip up. I also
think there are opportunities for a lot of other teams
(25:57):
to slip up. I think one of my big slip
ups I have the Chargers winning in the first round
in Houston, and then I have the Chargers going to
Kansas City and beating the Kansas City Chiefs. Chargers are
no slash of a team. You know, they have their flaws,
justin Herbert very great quarterback. Not the best, not the worst,
but he is a guy that can sling it and
(26:18):
you can slice open the Kansas City Chiefs defense. You
got a chance. Now on the NFC side, out of
the Lions coming out, I think they're just too hot
right now. I have the Lions over the Eagles in
the NFC Championship. I have the Bills over the Chargers
in Buffalo, winning the AFC Championship, going to Super Bowl
and beating the Detroit Lions. Another upset I have. I
(26:39):
have the Redskins excuse me, I hope I don't get
trust podcast in trouble, the Commanders over the Buccaneers in
the first round. I have the Rams beating the Vikings
at home, Eagles beating the Packers. So we've talked about
again super Bowl prediction. Though I do have the Bills
over the Detroit Lions. I know that's what everybody wants.
(27:00):
It's what a lot of people want. Let's hope we
don't get the Chiefs and Eagles again. Hopefully I'm not
regretting saying that here in a month, but we shall see.
I'm Chris. This has been the final regular season around
the NFL. Next weekend is the playoffs. Hopefully we're talking
more Bills football going forward. John and Ryan take it away.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
Thank you Chris, as always, we appreciate you. And Hey, Johnny,
I appreciate the shout out. You know I am. I
am an amateur web designer. I have worked on gear
network dot com, Better Live than Dead dot com, Froust
Yourself dot com. So I appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
But yes, we're excuse.
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Me, we're looking ahead before we get into the injury
report and in the Bills game on Sunday real quick.
Wanted to mention and without boring everybody, and this is
something I have the predictions on my phone. We can
go back and look after the postseason. Myself and Chris
Downey are predicting Bills over the lines in the Super Bowl.
(27:56):
Not a crazy prediction. John, I wanted to ask you
because well, John likes to have fun in our trust
the text message group chat. And what did I do
this time? John made sure to select the lowest seeded
team every single game. So it was when we saw it,
(28:19):
I was like, this can't be real. Then Chris goes, oh,
you picked all the low seeds. I see what you did,
and it was really funny. So I appreciate that John.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Yes, yes, that guy always have respect for the troll
and that was just an opportunity for me to do that,
have a little fun and see who which of the
two of you thought I was serious and it and
it looked like, at least optically, you were like, wait
a minute, I mean, it just can't be real, but
(28:48):
it also wouldn't surprise me if it was, whereas Downey
immediately was like, you know, John, you know what reminds.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
Me of a nice little old better live than dead
throwback to that. Every is what I every single year
when good old mister Perez would pick the Dallas Cowboys
to win the Super Bowl, when the Dallas Cowboys did
not have a fighter's chance in hell or a fighting
chance in hell, couldn't get their way out of a
wet paper bag, let alone win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
How about this, though, You remember that one year that
you and him made baseball predictions and he picked the
Kansas City Royals against maybe about even the Colorado Rockies,
both at the time not very good teams, and he
actually and that was the year that the Kansas City
Royals got into the into the World Series and I
(29:38):
believe won the World Series incredible. And what I remember
telling that to Press, he was like, yeah, man, I
was just bullshiting. I had no idea, I didn't know,
but I knew, you know. So that was kind of
carry in that tradition here.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
John Buffalo, Detroit, who's your pick?
Speaker 3 (29:57):
Oh my goodness, it's I think on the NFC it's
going to be Detroit for me. I just I've seen
enough of Detroit to believe that they that they this
could be their year minimum to go there, and just
to jump in really quick on that, like they continue
to get hurt but continue to play through those injuries.
Speaker 1 (30:19):
And also like they they had offensively, David Montgomery and
Jamier Gibbs essentially splitting the job, and they may have
actually been doing themselves a disservice just by watching what
Jamier Gibbs did against the Minnesota Vikings. So again, they've
(30:40):
they not to steal your thunder here, but they've got
the creativity offensively. They got a lot of dogs on defense,
And I mean it's hard, it's really hard. You don't
want to sit here and say that the best teams
are going to go to the Super Bowl and win.
But like you'd be silly to bet against them right now.
Speaker 3 (30:58):
Right, So, from the nfcide, the Detroit Lions. For me,
I'm very much in sync with you guys there. On
the AFC side, my heart says wants to say Buffalo,
because I do believe that Buffalo is good enough to
go there. But I've seen some things with the defense
recently that have me concerned that if Buffalo were to
(31:18):
meet Baltimore in AFC Championship or however it ends up
working out.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Next it would be not this week but next week. Yeah,
so the division divisional divisional.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
Right, yeah, yeah, if they were to if Buffalo were
to beat Denver and then Baltimore beats Pittsford, Pittsford, Pittsburgh, yeah, yeah,
I could see that. But the concern I would have
would be Derrick Henry, that difference between the sixty seven
percent and the eighty percent, Right, Derrick Henry, that's gonna
(31:51):
be the difference. I don't know that I'm one hundred
percent sold on the defense against those types of teams,
So AFC is a little shaky for me. I think
for the sake of the podcast, I'll say Buffalo, Buffalo,
Detroit as well.
Speaker 4 (32:08):
But.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
I would not be surprised if Baltimore were the team
to represent the AFC, just because of all of the
variables that they have. One thing I will say, and
I think we're all in unison, is I do not
see a three peet happening. I don't see Kansas City
going to the super Bowl, given how they've played throughout
(32:31):
the season as well. Yes, their record speaks for itself,
sure earned them the number one seed and all of that,
But when you talk about Kansas City and you're talking
about all the rest that they're going to have, they
didn't play any of their starters, and I'm sure you'll
cover that in a little bit later on here when
we go over the wildcard weekend. Because of that, I
don't know how fresh they'll be. It'll be tough. The
(32:54):
football historian me wouldn't mind seeing Kansas City Green Bay
the super Bowl one rematch I've been dying at in Dynasty,
But realistically, if it's not Buffalo, it's Baltimore, and in
the NFC it would be Detroit. Now, if the Super
Bowl were played between Baltimore and Detroit, I think i'd
(33:14):
give the edge to Detroit on that one. Buffalo and Detroit.
For the sake of the podcast, I'll say Buffalo, but Detroit.
Speaker 1 (33:24):
Is tough there. I mean, we're looking off, We're right now.
We're looking right now at a potential matchup of who
can score more. It's not gonna be who has a
better defense. It's looking like this postseason is going to
play out to be we're gonna have you know, we'll
have some duds, I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (33:43):
Now with all of that being said, don't sleep on
Denver's defense.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
We'll talk about that this weekend.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
I'm not reading ahead. I'm actually looking at my playoff
bracket here it's seeing the Denver Green Bay super Bowl.
I picked Detroit.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
I mean, I think I think if if my my
best guest here too would be that it's if there
were a team to make a run, and it wouldn't
be like, oh my god, I can't believe that team
made a run. But I'm thinking that whoever wins the
Buccaneers Commander's Game. I I feel like whoever wins that
(34:22):
game might might be able to sneak into Detroit and
in shock them just because of how they've been playing.
Speaker 3 (34:27):
Yeah, yeah, I could.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
I could.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
I could see that too. Tampa again, Tampa and Washington
definitely could be wild cards there, and honestly, I think
on the AFC side, I could see the Chargers being,
you know, being that in the league best defense, So
you know, a lot of variables here. But again, I
think for the sake of the podcast, I'll be in
(34:49):
alignment with you guys as well Buffalo and Detroit, but
it's going to be Detroit is gonna be the brick
wall in this in this playoffs. So it's going to
be wild to see either way.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
And we can kind of talk about this with the
injury report and our and our game preview here. Terrell Bernard,
linebacker progressing well heading in the week eighteen quote, should
be good for wildcard weekend. Sean mcderbtt said Monday that
no news is good news with Bernard, which is fantastic
to hear. Amari Cooper missed week eight team do a
personal issue. Still have back with the team as of
the time of the podcast, but obviously that will develop.
(35:21):
Safety Demor Hamlin, safety Taylor rap and wide receiver Curtis
Samuel all returned to action at New England. They should
be good to go for the wildcard game. Brandon Codrington
was the only injury out of the game with a hamstring.
No real update on his his availability yet, but that
that certainly could be could be a factor, we don't know.
Wildcard Weekend Buffalo versus Denver. This is Sunday, January twelfth,
(35:43):
at one pm on CBS. I've got some information here
from the Buffalo Bills PR team, the crack staff. After
clinching the fifth consecutive AFC East Division title and their
sixth straight playoff berth, the Buffalo Bills will host the
Denver bronk W's in a playoff game for the second
time in franchise history. The first meeting came January twelfth,
nineteen ninety two, and the Bills won ten to seven
in the a f C Championship game. Buffalo has a
(36:06):
fifteen and five playoff record all time at home. They
are twenty eight and eight in December and January since
twenty twenty, including the playoffs, the second best in the
NFL during that span. Also, in ten career playoff games,
Superman Playoff Josh Allen has thrown for two thy, seven
hundred and twenty three yards and twenty one touchdowns. His
three hundred and thirty point two totally yds per game
(36:27):
and two point seven touchdowns per game in the playoff,
both ranked first in NFL history all time minimum five games.
Allen also currently ranked second in rushing yards by a
quarterback in the playoffs with five hundred and sixty three
all time, behind only Steve Young with five hundred and
ninety four.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
So again, insane playoff Josh Allen is real future Hall
of Famer Josh Allen.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
But at the end of the day, Denver is a
very tough opponent. They are ten and seven this year,
four and five away the seventh seed in the AFC.
Last week a thirty eight to nothing victory over Kansas
City to lock themselves in the playoffs. A very very
thin Kansas City team a lot of a lot of
their talent was resting. But still can't take away the
fact that it is the first playoff appearance since their
(37:08):
Super Bowl fifty victory and twenty fifteen, it's the longest
playoff drought since Super Bowl victory in NFL history. A
joke here because bo Nix is so old he was
in his first year of Collagen twenty fifteen. That's not true,
but it's funny. Denver quarterback Bo Nicks great, great year
this year, very absolutely three thy seven hundred and seventy
five passing yards, twenty nine touches, twelve picks, ninety two
(37:31):
carries for four hundred and thirty yards and four rushing touchdowns.
Also one reception for two yards and one receiving touchdown.
Baby Josh Allen there, he won't be the rookie of
the year, probably going to be Jaden Daniels in Washington.
Well deserved, but he should get strong consideration. Two other
guys to watch out for Denver wide receiver Cortland Sutton
eighty one receptions, one thousand, eighty one yards on the season,
eight touchdowns. He's fourth in the NFL with nine hundred
(37:53):
and two yards traveled in the air before the catch
aka bomb alert. Also Denver cornerback Patrick stan the second
in sixteen games forty five tackles, four interceptions, and one touchdown,
with eleven pass deflections and one force fumble per Pro
Football Focus Pro Football Focus, I understand how people feel
about them, but again you use that you use the
(38:14):
eye test as well to kind of come up with
a conclusion. He ranked second of two hundred and twenty
three cornerbacks in the NFL. He has a sixty one
point three completion percentage allowed. That's thirty eight of sixty
two and two touchdowns allowed on the entire season. He
is the betting favorite to be the NFL's Defensive Player
(38:34):
of the Year, which would make him only the seventh
cornerback ever to win the award. So pretty damn good
out of Denver? John who ESPN? I mean, I don't
know where to go with that. ESPN's match predictor sixty
eight point one percent of America beluves Buffalo will defeat
the Denver Broncos in this wildcard matchup? John, who you got?
Speaker 3 (38:53):
Do you think if I add myself to that, with
you adding yourself to that being believing that Buffer will
beat Denver, that would bring that percentage point up to
five point five or greater.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Yep, we could do that. Then we'll round it up.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
To sixty nine percent, which means nice, which means Buffalo's
beating the Denver Broncos in this wildcard matchup. I am
on board with America on that one.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
I think it will be a a tough matchup. And
I say that I say this because it's the playoffs.
And nothing is ever easy. As my microphone starts to fall.
But I'm looking right now at the weather as we
are speaking here. It's taken forever in my life to load,
(39:41):
which is wonderful. Good oldacuweather dot com. No, no free
commercials for them though, Onday, Siri, what it is?
Speaker 3 (39:51):
Let's say thirty two.
Speaker 1 (39:52):
Degrees light wind. You know what that means?
Speaker 3 (39:57):
Hey on, Hey Siri, Oh it's not even nick No,
hang on. What's the weather going to be like an
orchard Park on Sunday?
Speaker 4 (40:09):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (40:10):
You know what it is?
Speaker 3 (40:10):
I have my because I have the soundboard running through
my phone. It's it's introduced.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Nevermind, it's not gonna it's gonna be actually a halfway
decon day in thirty two degrees, win seven miles an hour,
win gust sixteen, nothing crazy. Should be a very good
day to matriculate the ball down the field.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
You know, it would be great. I'm hoping, I'm hoping
that someone's listening to this and and when they and
when they hear me call for Siri, their Siri opens up.
Speaker 1 (40:40):
Yeah, that would be that would be pretty good. But John, John, again,
it's the playoffs. It's it's win or go home. Playoff
Josh has been activated. The Buffalo Bills have been activated.
It's destination New Orleans for the Super Bowl. Hopefully the
Bills make it. It's looking like it could be the
(41:01):
year if they can just continue on the train that
they have been on for most of this season.
Speaker 3 (41:07):
One game at one game at a time, and if
they keep the mentality that it's zero, that the record
is zero zero, you know, zero wins, zero losses after
every single game, and they treat each playoff game like
it's their first. I think this team has as good
a shot as they've ever had, at at minimum attending
the Super Bowl as playing participants.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
Absolutely so that being said for John Somino, for Chris Downey,
I am Ryan Wolf. We are trust the podcast, You're not.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
But also hold on, No one circles the wagons like
the Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
Thank you for that. I was I forgot that you
had hooked the soundboard back up, which is why I yes,
thank you, Thank you Boomer. As always, it's all friends,
family and those in between. Thank you for tuning in,
and as always, don't get a twisted dog, go Bills,
catch your how y'all.
Speaker 3 (42:01):
Bye. On the preceding presentation has been brought to you
by the Gear Network
