Speaker 1 (00:00):
You know, one point you were part of the Best Friends,
and then you're no longer part of the Best Friends,
and you're you're beating up Trent, and you're beating up
Orange Cassidy, and then one minute you're a part of
the Black Book Combat Club and you're putting plastic bags
over Brian's head. And the one thing about Wheeler, you know,
is there's always a sense of at first, should we
be doing this? I'm not down with this. Even when
(00:22):
the Brian thing happened, it took you a second to
kind of be like, what do we do in your uh?
Speaker 2 (00:27):
Where does the loyalty lie? What does friendship mean to you?
Speaker 3 (00:34):
What does friendship mean to me? All right, we'll go
we can get through all of them, all right, So
first one.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
And we are back for another casual calmveration with the
classic ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. I'm here with
one of the members of the Dangerous Death Riders, none
other than Aw's very own Wheelherya, how are we doing today?
Speaker 3 (01:09):
Good man? How about you?
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I am good? Before we get into everything else, they
really quickly have to ask everybody this question. Is being
the old school wrestling fan, I want to know what
your earliest memories of professional wrestling was.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
My earliest memories. So I remember I went to my
cousin's house. It was around Christmas time and they had
just gotten a wrestling video game for the GameCube. So
they were playing that and I thought it was awesome.
I saw like maybe like Poker T's entrance in there,
and like all the Pyro and all the flames and
stuff just in the video game. It's like, Oh, that's
(01:43):
really cool. And then I kept watching them playing. They're like,
you know, people like actually do this in real life.
I was like what. So then they showed me wrestling
on TV and that's those are my first memories of it.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
I have to ask this because yes he was a
twenty year anniversary of his passing. Was would you say
Eddie Grill is someone that influenced you and you having
Eddie growl moment that he really enjoyed.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Yeah, Eddie Guerrero was awesome and he definitely influenced me.
I remember there's a moment where he's had he's doing
like the the Bedtime stories and he's like his rivalry
with Raymonsteria, like after they broke the tag team and
there's that moment where he like brainbusters him on the
stairs and I remember like my parents would let me
(02:24):
like watch it in their bedroom. They had a TV,
but they were in the living room watching whatever they
were watching. I remember like bursting out of the room
crying to go Raan, like they had to console me.
But yeah, Eddie was incredible. But yeah, I do remember
that specifically. And I also used to jump off of
my dresser try to do a first flash, just like
on the ground.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yeah, And I was I was calling through your your
social media to you know, do some research, and I
saw like a picture of you from back in the day,
like with with either your cousins or your friends playing
with their figures and the ring and I'm like, this
is all reminiscent to my child.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
But before we get into the aw of it all,
I have one last question about the about not aw
that's the Independence, because I did watch you back then.
I do remember watching you on the Independence and they
was scrolling through your page and I was like, wait
a minute, what happened to the wheeler to mask? The
gas mask? Like, is there a reason why we retired it?
What was the story behind the mask? What were we
(03:21):
going for there?
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, so I was trying to go for like this
like cyberpunk thing. It was a lot of it was
kind of based on I just watched, you know, the
movie Big Hero six, like the Disney movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
I had watched that. I was trying to make myself
kind of be like Hero. So I was trying to
like sort of my my vision for it was that
I would eventually have almost like a suit of armor. Yeah,
(03:44):
that's not very financially feasible for independent wrestler in college.
This is when I first got the mask, so it
just sort of, you know, I kept the mask because
it was unique to me, and like early on when
I had the lights and everything was really cool. But
then the lights and I wound up one of them
couldn't be repaired, so then I got a second one.
(04:06):
Then that one broke, So then eventually I got to
aw and I actually did wear it in my debut match. Yeah,
but then when I moved into the Best Friends thing,
it didn't really have like a reason for it. So
it's just kind of like a wacky mask that I
was wearing by that point. So I was like, all right, well,
I think it's time to get rid of it. Unfortunately.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
I don't know. Man, you're in the Death Riders now
there might be a reason to pull it out.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
You never know.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
I can bring it back at some point.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
An anarchy in the arena comes out with this mask on.
Looks a little bit more dangerous. Talking about the Death Riders,
Let's talk about something that just went down. And you
were just part of Blood and Gods. This is the
second time you're part of a Blood and Gots match. Uh,
this time seemed a lot more violent than the first time.
I get to Jericho Appreciation Society. What is your mindset
before going into a Blood and Gots match? And you
started this one out? You were in there for the
(04:55):
entirety of this match A companies.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yeah, it's actually so it's actually the third one I
was in because there's against the elite. Yeah, that's one. Yeah,
I want to say it was two years ago. Yeah,
but yeah, I mean when you have all of this, uh,
like at this point, I understand how violent it can get,
you know, Like the the way that the second one
ended was they all choked me out with a chain
and I passed out in the middle of the ring.
(05:19):
And that was in Boston. I believe so yeah, that
was how the last one ended. So you know that
it can get really violent and it can get really
uh really gnarly, So definitely. You know, it's a mental
hurdle that you have to sort of get over before
you go in there. But once you're in there, you
can't have any of those reservations or second thoughts. You
have to work through all that beforehand, I guess, and
(05:40):
just know that it's gonna hurt, it's gonna suck, But
at the end of the day, it's what it's what
needs to be done. And it was a lot of
fun yet again despite all the violence. So maybe I'm
maybe I'm less sensitive to it now that i've been. Yeah,
but it was fun.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Uh Well, like what's going through your mind when you're
on top of the cage, because there's a point where
you and Bristol on top of the cage fighting, you
goes are wheeling chairs, like lightsabers, what like what what
is the mindset when you're on top of that? Is
there any sort of like okay, like hopefully we can
just get through this in this cauls well and nothing
nothing bad happens here.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Yeah, I mean I think the scariest part is getting
up and down, like when you're climbing down, man, especially
when like by the time I climbed up, I had
been wrestling for like forty five minutes probably something like that,
so you know, you're tired, you're sweaty, I got blood
in my eyes. I'm like, all right, here we go.
But then once you're up there, you know, like I said,
(06:40):
it's just you have to focus on the task at hand.
The only point where I I really kind of thought
about it, I guess after, you know, besides the up
and down, was when Mark Briscoe has me upside down
for a you know, for the Jay Driller, and I'm like, yeah,
I'm up there, and I'm like, oh, this could be it.
Let's find out. And then you know, you land and
it hurts, but I'm alive. So that's a you know,
(07:02):
all things considered, now's.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
Yeah, it's a win. It's a cool, super cool moment

Keep doing the things you leader.
Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, let me talk about this now. Garcia is part
of the Death Riders, and you and Garcia have kind
of always been running parallel with your AW careers. Two
people that are like, you know, homegown aw stars. A
lot of AW fans are really behind and support, But
you guys have had a rocky relationship. You guys have
been opponents more so than you guys have been partners.
(09:05):
What is it like and what is your thoughts in
Grecia being part of the group.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
Now, Yeah, it's uh, it's fun to sort of like
continue that competition, you know, Like, yeah, even even when
we were on the Independence, I kind of always looked
at like what he was doing, and I'm sure he
looked at what I was doing, and we always felt
like we were sort of like modern contemporaries and we
didn't actually wrestle much on the independence. It might have
just been that one time that we wrestled for an
(09:30):
hour long draw when I was the iw TV champion.
But yeah, like we always sort of like we're looking
at each other and then it almost felt like we
get to aw and then you know, he goes to
the Jericho Appreciation Society. I go to Blackpool Combat Club.
It almost felt like we were like guys that played
at like rival colleges and now we just got drafted
(09:52):
to the majors, but we got drafted to rival teams.
Like that's sort of what it felt like. So we've
always had this, uh, this thing where we're you know,
competing against each other, but I think it's just made
the both of us like better. It's just made his
better wrestlers. And now that we're on the same side,
maybe we'll even develop a you know, more of a friendship,
I guess, instead of just competing with each other. But
(10:13):
it's always been great to have him, you know, to motivate.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Who knows, maybe we'll like a one time run as
a tag team champions or something. Anything is possible. At
this point obviously, like you mentioned, you guys start out
as the Blackpool Combat Club, and you know, I have
to ask you got to work with Brian Danielson a
lot before it was like last years a full time
active wrestler, before you guys you know, choked him up
with some plastic bags and beat him up. But what
was something you could say you learned from Brian Danielson
(10:39):
in that time? You know, even though yeah, he's a
little bit of at any jackass.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Now yeah, I don't think he's a big fan of
me right now, but no, there, I mean, there's so
many things that that he taught me. It's really tough
to like narrow down one, but like they're all these
like little technique things that he used to show me,
like and just kind of I think that him and
(11:06):
the rest of the Blackpool Combat Club like really kind
of taught me how to be a professional.
Speaker 6 (11:09):
You know.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
I was coming up like a young guy coming up,
Like he talked to me about things like no one
even thinks about, like saving my money and like how
to present myself like as a as a professional and
like be a good representative of the company and things
like that. So talk to me about all sorts of things.
Obviously all the techniques in the ring, like the busaikuni
which I use now, the cattle mutilation which I use now,
(11:32):
but even just like little things like I don't know,
like there's a point where we were cleaning up my
quarter Nelson and stuff like that. So there's so many,
so many things that I could say about him, And yeah,
he's he was really a positive influence on my career.
It just felt like, you know, it was time for
him to go, so we had to, you know, put
him out of his misery with a plastic bag.
Speaker 1 (11:50):
But you know, just a normal way, just a normal
way to take someone out. It is. It is the
best of like when you're doing moves at our briand
Dielsen moves and you kind of like take a nod
at him at the commentary desk and he knows what's
going on. That being said. On the flip side, the
man that's still running the show with the death threat
is John Moxley. What is something you can say that
(12:12):
you've learned from Oxley? Because's totally different style than than
Donalds and Danielson. You might have learned a lot of
the wrestling techniques to Stuf about Moxley's the man of violence.
So what have you learned from.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Ox Yeah, definitely, I think Moxley the thing that I
learned from him more is just like, you know, doing
what needs to be done. I guess he always talks
about like how he wants to elevate the standard in
aw and he says that it always starts with us.
So we have to you know, we have to be
the ones showing that. We We go out and we
work hard, and you know, we try to bring everyone
(12:43):
else around us up to our level. And I think
that's been working. You know, like we lost in blood
and guts because we've brought you know, we've brought some
stuff out of Kylo O'reiley that you know, we hadn't
seen before, so things like that, and you know what
we brought out of Darby Allen and the lengths that
he was willing to go and that I equipment. I
think that that's really what we focused on, is just
(13:04):
trying to be a team, trying to be a unit
and you know, bring each other up. But obviously he's
taught me plenty about you know, violence and weapons and
things of that nature as well. But yeah, He's, like
you said, been a totally different mentor, but it's all
coming from the same philosophy of just being a professional,
working hard.
Speaker 6 (13:21):

City Toys. Hope you guys enjoyed the show.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
You get enjoyed. You've had some major moments. You've pinned
Keny Omega, You've had a bloodbath with Moxie. Before you
guys were partners, You've had great matches, that ring of honor, Like,
is there a moment for you in aw where you
were like, Okay, this is when it clicked. This was
the moment where you're like, Okay, I think I've I've
made it here, Like this was a rival moment for yourself.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
I mean everyone kind of points to the match that
I had with Maxley, that bloodbath you were talking about.
You know, that's that's where I joined the Blackpool Combat
Club and that's where I really, you know, got all
these new mentors. And I think that that is probably
the moment that you could point to. But for me personally,
I tried not to have those moments of like, oh yeah,
and now I've arrived, because you know, the work is
(14:43):
never done. Like if I if I want to be
you know, at the level of those guys and like
continue to climb and you know, raise my own game,
then I can never be content, you know. I have
to just continue to put in the work and put
in the time. So I try not to had those moments.
But if I were to say one, I guess it
would be the the Moxley match, because that's really where
(15:05):
things in my in my career definitely changed.
Speaker 5 (15:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
No, that that was an incredible match, and that was
I think for a lot of people You're stand out
for you were like, oh, this is Wheeler youda guy
went on one on one with Moxie and like, you know,
stood up to the violence and the beating and the fighting.
Let me ask you this, I want to get into
the psyche Wheeler, because you know, one point you were
part of the Best Friends, and then you're no longer
part of the Best Friends, and you're you're beating up
(15:30):
Trent and you're beating up Orange Cassidy, and then one
minute you're a part of the Black Book Combat Club
and you're putting plastic bags over Brian's head. And the
one thing about Wheeler is there's always a sense of
at first, should we be doing this? I'm not down
with this. Even when the Brian thing happened, it took
you a second kind.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Of be like, what do we do in your uh?
Where does the loyalty lie? What does friendship mean to you?
Speaker 5 (15:58):
What is friends?
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Beds me? All right, so let we'll go. We can
go through all of them, all right, So the first one,
the first one was the best friend, right, So I
thought that was you know, we had the moment where
you know, Regals in the ring and the best friends
are kind of walking up the ramp. I don't know
if you know the match I'm talking about it versus
Box and Brian, Yeah, and Regels out there, and uh,
(16:23):
you know, I walked away from them and I thought,
you know, I have nice, amicable split. They get what's
going on here. I need to be with these guys.
I need to move on. I didn't want to hate them.
I didn't want to not be friends with them anymore.
I just wanted to not be on their their team
what we're wrestling, that's all it was. But they took
that very personally. So I'm gonna blame them for that
one Brian thing. Yeah, so that's all Orange and Truck's fault.
(16:46):
Trent never liked me anyway, so that's fine. But then
for the you know, for the BCC one. Like I said,
I think that none of us wanted to do that
to Brian, but you know, he was retiring and we
felt like it was time.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
So sorry man, Yeah, I mean, he wasn't sticking around anyways.
He was in a weird way of abandoning you guys
on this beautiful retirement tour that he was on, and
you know you already had Regal leave you guys. Maybe
it was a sense of like, hey, we need to
stick together with the team that we have right now,
and we need to do what we need to do.
I think that's the part of it. Well let's talk
(17:20):
about this, because there's a big part of like Chris
Statlander is the women's champion right now, and leading up
to it, she kind of got there with your advice.
You were coming out there, you'll give you advice of
like what to do and how to get there. She
won the title and then just disrespectfully decided that nah,
I don't need you guys, and ran away and started
flipping the bird to Moxley, what is your relationship with Christatlander?
(17:42):
Because it also what homes back to the best friends,
but seems like out of all the people out of there,
like that's when you still kind of had like a
friendship with some mutual respect.
Speaker 3 (17:50):
And then even she was like, nope, well if not
good now a relationship not very good now?
Speaker 6 (18:00):
No.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
I mean obviously, like Chris is a very uh you know,
talented wrestler and she's you know, a star in her
own right, So uh it was you know, we thought
that it might be a good a good fit for
the Death Riders. Clearly she felt otherwise, So you know,
I'll wash my hands of that one. But I would
be shocked if Marina sha Appeared didn't make her pay
at some point down the line, or or one of them.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
I mean, she seems like she's starting to try to
get there, especially with that bed of nails, that blood
and guts and everything that's going on. Hey to boy,
the Wrestling Classic justin. I'm here to show you, guys
the new officially licensed ww plush toys that are available
now Walmart dot see online. Guys, you get yourself with

There's Sean Michael Stoneclad, Steve Boston, the Undertaker, CM punk

Snake Roberts with the snake. A little cool detail to
have the snake with them. I think anyone would enjoy
playing with this.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
There is the best.
Speaker 5 (19:23):
It was the best. It will be gonna do.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Like the thing of that we're hand thinking, I don't know,
it's cool Brett Hart once again. The details is a
really cool You can pull the straps down. That's another
thing that's like a little interesting, you know, if you
want to be playing with these.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
It's his retirement tour, Last time ever.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
Says it on the shirt. This is a very exclusive
plustoy of John Cena. You can do the whole you
can see me last time ever. Pretty cool John Cena plushty.
These are kind of larger than your usual plush toys.
They call them full size because they're a little bit
bigger than the.

(20:15):
a ton more.
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Make sure you get them all before they do another
drop so you don't miss out on any of the
any of the drops.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
We talked about the Moxie match, I'd be remissive it
and ask you because you said, that's a match you
think most people talk about when they think about real
leader in the brig moment. But is there a match
of yours that you think doesn't get talked about enough
that you thought was really great that you feel like, man,
I really wish people realize it's like how important or
special this match was to me and my opponent or
just you yourself, or like that was a standout moment
(20:41):
for you.
Speaker 3 (20:43):
Yeah, there's one of the kind of sticks in my
head a little bit is coming back from so I
had some issues with concussions, and then coming back from that,
I wrestled Lee Moriarty for the Ring of Honor Peer
Championship and I wound up losing that one. That was
the uh, you know, the ES Sports Arena in Arlington,
and I wound up losing that one and losing my
(21:05):
my championship. But from just like a personal standpoint, you know,
Lee is another one of those guys that, like much
like Garcia, we always were sort of competing on the
independence to see, you know, who was better, who would
get to that next level, and we were always our
careers were intertwined and in many ways, so being able
to wrestle him in you know, a high stakes featured
(21:26):
match on pay per view for Ring of Honor was
something that was really special to me. And also it
was really a good i don't know confidence booster is
the right word, but it was a good way for
me to feel like, Okay, I'm I'm fully back. I
wasn't you know, I was obviously trying to you know,
come back from coming back from an injury. A lot
of it is physical, but a lot of it too
(21:46):
is just like mental of just like can I still
do what I did before? And that was the night
where I felt like, Okay, I'm I'm here, I'm back, I'm.
Speaker 7 (21:53):
Ready to go.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
So that was that was a really special night for me,
and I think because it was on a pay per view,
you know, less people saw it than the Rampage match,
which is on TV. But if you have a chance,
I think it's on YouTube now, i'd go seek that
one out.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
Yeah, guys will check that match out if you get
an opportunity. Now, I'm probably gonna watch myself now because
I I don't think, I don't I'm not one hundred
percent sure if I've seen it myself, So I want
to go check that out. I guess off that question.
I want to ask you really quickly, like if you
could show your younger self one match of yours, what
match would you show them?
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Man, gosh, that's a that's a tough question. It might
be the let's i'll say the stadium Stampede that we
had it at Wembley. Obviously it's a it's a crazy
match from you know, a bunch of different standpoints. But
if I could show my younger self that, you know,
it's I'm on a team with a lot of guys
that I really looked up to when I was younger.
(22:47):
I'm wrestling against guys that I really looked up to
when I was younger. Just I think that there's you know,
there's a lot of hardships when you're trying to make
it as a professional wrestler. And I think that younger
me would have been very proud of, you know, that experience,
that moment selling out, you know, Wembley Stadium like that.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
What is on Wheeler? You do playlist listening to?
Speaker 3 (23:07):
Man, I have such a clat music takes changes time. Ah,
I was right now, I've been listening to a lot
of podcasts. I know that that's not a fun answer,
but yeah, cass starting you have been listening to a
lot of my flyers podcasts talk radios. So that's kind
of what I've been into more these days. When uh,
you know, when I when I don't work out, I'll
(23:29):
definitely since the music. I just I'm like Amazon Music,
like the rap radio station from there, and it really depends.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
No, that's yeah, And last but not least, I ask
everybody this question. So I want to ask you, do
you feel like you've made your younger self proud?
Speaker 3 (23:49):
I think I think I have made my younger self proud.
I think that my younger self would be just amazed
at how my life has worked out with, you know,
the people that I get to wrestle, the the promotion
that I'm in, Like the fact that eight of you
even exists is just like a ideal pipe dream scenario.
So I think my younger self would be just amazed
at all the things that I've been able to accomplish
(24:10):
thus far. But at the same time, you know, if
you want to keep going, you and keep grinding. So
I hope that my younger self will be proud of
the woman keep.
