Join us for Episode 13 as we hang out, interview and talk with New Jersey deathcore/death metal bank “Nights Of Malice”.

Unleashing a relentless fusion of deathcore and death metal with the precision guitar attack of progressive metal, Nights of Malice was formed in Ocean County, New Jersey in 2009 under the name Tomorrow Never Comes. The group was founded by vocalist James Cook, guitarist Andrew Norris and drummer Joe Capasso. The trio was joined by guitarist Xavier Quiles and bassist Pete Irizarry later on, and the band released their first single "The Hindering" in 2014.

In Summer 2015, the band recorded a nine-track debut full-length, Aeonian, at AVI Studios with producer Jesse Avignone. Aeonian earned a potent buzz in metal circles, enhanced by extensive touring. Their next recording was a self- released EP entitled Our Penance launched in 2016, which, along with their hardworking tour schedule, helped get them quite a bit of traction. In the meantime, Nights of Malice had passed through a number of line-up changes, while simultaneously working on new material and playing live.

With almost three years in the work, Nights of Malice returned with a sophomore full-length release entitled Sonnets of Ruin in March 2019, which saw the guest performances by Thy Art is Murder's singer CJ McMahon and I Killed Everyone's Cody Harmon, with Carson Slovak and Grant McFarland handling mixing and mastering. Preceding the album release were three singles: two music videos for "A Myriad of Misfortunes" and "Throne of Shame," and a lyric video for "Gaea" which features CJ McMahon.

The band has never sounded as fierce or as hard hitting as they do on Sonnets of Ruin, despite it being their slowest and most atmospheric release yet. The instrumentalists have embraced their strengths and honed their instrumental prowess into, as most publications agreed, one of the most unpredictable and ferocious metal albums of the year.

Nights of Malice's current line-up: Brendan McGrath on vocals, Xavier Quiles and Mark Marin on guitars, Rick Smith on bass, and Joe Capasso on drums—this is definitely the most well-coordinated and solidified the band has sounded so far.
