Speaker 1 (00:15):
Another week of college football. Things look good for some
and not so good for us. We're gonna talk about
that and more here on Unfair Sports, a Halt Media
production presented by Sleeper. I am your host, Jay. Thanks

wherever podcasts of download and listen to while you're here.
(00:35):
Please wipe your feet like subscribe, rate review, give us
five stars, don't think we desert, don't get us five anyway,
and gifted. So on today's episode of Unfair Sports, we're
gonna dive right into the meat and potatoes Week three
college football roundup. Lots of big games in the SEC.
For the most part, we got questions. It's arch Manning
(00:58):
broken and uh Clemson feels like they're Clem singing again.
We're gonna break all of that down. So you can
also hit us up on an Unfair fan line for
three zero nine zero one one nine zero six and
let us know what you think of the show. You
can give us just strongest opinions and they may end
up on one of the episodes later on this week.
(01:18):
So hit us up for three zero nine zero one
one nine oh six. What is good? My people? What
is good. My people, Hey, it has been it's been
a few a couple of good weeks. I told y'all
this is how we're gonna try to get things going.
Still doing a little additional negotiations. But shout out to
our sponsors over there at Sleeper. They if you're not
(01:43):
doing daily fantasy sports with them today, you are missing out.
Check them out and use our promo code Unfair and
they will get you a one hundred percent match on
your first hundred dollars. Good stuff. But no, I wanted
to talk here about college football, and for me, I
didn't drop something last week. I was trying to get
(02:04):
my thoughts together and I kept coming back to the
same thing to talk about. So I waited and decided
that I wanted to make sure I had some good
content to provide you all to talk through this, especially
because Week three at college football was full of a
lot of elite matchups. You had Georgia Tennessee, you know,
pseudo rivalry, always good stuff. Florida LSU feels like Florida
(02:25):
always gives LSU problems and it's always a fun one
to watch. And then of course some acc action where
you get some upsets in Clemson versus Georgia Tech, as
well as Texas A and M and Notre Dame. They
you know, they had their you know one in one
and last season was great. This one was just as great,
(02:45):
a thriller to the end. And we'll break down those
slates in a second. But my point is the one
thing I learned about football, and I've set this to
a couple buddies of mine about this, is if you
know one thing about me, you can look behind me.
I'm a big comic book do. I love comic books.
I love the storylines, I love the writing that goes
behind it. And there's reasons why I really enjoy it,
(03:08):
mainly because a lot of it gives you years upon
years upon years upon years of build up to get
to certain things. Like in the MCU, they gave you
basically ten years of build up before the battle against Theos.
Now they're back to rebuilding that as they're trying to
get figure out they're going into the Multiverse era up
they're gonna be cause Cane the conquer Error is gone,
(03:31):
but there's build up to it. DC Comics trying to
do something similar with their university and the universe, and
they're trying to bring that back as well. What my
point is is that because of that build up, it
leads you to certain points to where you get a
better understanding of teams and situations. And Clemson is one
of those. And I'm gonna start there because Clemson's history
(03:55):
with Dabo Sweeney. The starting point was the word clemsoning
was created, where they go out and lose games that
they probably should not lose. Now, I don't want to
disrespect Georgia Tech in this and say, oh, they should
not have won this game. Well, at the same time,
we understand that Georgia Tech was not expected to win
this game. Georgia Tech plays a brand of football that
(04:17):
is borderline predictable because you know the quarterback's gonna run
like that's kind of the thing they Georgia Tech has
struggled with getting players in their program, which is why
a lot of the times they run the triple option
offense because it's really hard to get a lot of
dudes to get just qualified into Georgia Tech. It's a
(04:37):
very competitive school and Georgia Tech this year now is
three and zero. They gave it to Colorado to start
the season. Literally, they just ran it down their throw
three hundred and something yards. Then they go, what's this
game number two? You know, Garner Web whatever, fifty nine
to twelve. They just beat the crap out of them.
(04:57):
But the Clemson game was supposed to be a big one.
It was supposed to be the one where this was
the challenge for Georgia Tech to show us that they're
gonna be legitimate this year. And Clemson was gonna bounce
back from you know, having a lackluster Week one against
LSU in which they're bringing back some of the most
production in college football. Some people say that statistic is overused,
(05:21):
and I think the context behind it is critical. But
I got why so many teams, well so many fans
and media members leverage that against with Clemson, because not
only did Clemson bring back a substantial amount of production
in which those production ratings do include transfers, they're all
(05:42):
their own dudes. So Clemson wins the ACC last year,
so you would expect, oh, yeah, they're gonna come back,
same dudes, stronger. They've got guys on the defensive line
that are expected to be top picks in the NFL draft,
so they've got the horses to win games. But they
not doing it right now, They not giving us that.
(06:02):
The LSU game was a testament. LSU brought in a
lot of transfers, and even the guys at LSU were
talking about, Yeah, I don't expect us to win this
game because we still need dues to mesh, but I
expect this team still to be good long term. And
I said the same thing. I thought LSU was gonna
lose that game, but I think that was gonna have
a run through the rest of the season as they jailed,
didn't have to. He's went out there and won it.
(06:23):
Now the three and Zho talk about LSU in a minute,
but this Clemson one is just an example of why
I love college football, why I love football in general,
because the NFL is the same. And I'll talk about
the NFL on Tuesday Show if I get around to
making it is there's so much backstory to a team
that builds up to who they are today, and that's
(06:46):
why a lot of these expectations show up in some
situations they don't provide it. Georgia Tech going back, Brent
Key took takes over even even struggling, and he had
an exciting gear last year, and people were like, okay,
that was their peak. They're probably gonna go back down.
And then Haines King told us all was shut up.
He really did. He went out there, balled out two
(07:06):
hundred yards passing, one hundred yards rushing. He gave you
the statistical game that you're like, oh, okay, so we
probably should stop outing this young man twenty for twenty
eight two hundred eleven yards. He threw the ball a lot,
twenty eight passes, twenty five carries for one hundred and three yards.
And I find this funny because this has literally been
(07:26):
Haines King's game. This has been his ethos, especially since
he's been at Tech, Like this is how he plays ball.
He runs the ball a lot since he got there,
Like his second see his third season at Texas A
and M. He threw one hundred and eighty seven passes,
(07:48):
and I think he dealt with, of course, some injuries
in that season. He had twenty nine carries for eighty
three yards. So he wasn't really running the ball. That
wasn't his game. There all of a sudden, he gets
to Georgia Tech and he runs the ball one hundred
times in a season, two years in a row, granted
this is his sixth season in college football, but this
is He's gonna easily pass one hundred rushing carries this
(08:10):
season at Georgia Tech. That's his game. So, like I said,
when you go back and look at the history of
it and follow it down, it's like, oh, man, george
Tech really does get dudes that they think they can
run and then they make them runners. That's legitimately what
it is. Yeah, Hays Kings running quarterback and he was
(08:31):
out there bawling like ballin. But Clemson are they down?
I mean they're not out of the ACC talk at all,
like by any means. I mean, you've only got one
conference loss. They've still they've got q's. The North Carolina
(08:53):
game in two weeks is gonna be intriguing. That's the
one that I'm really considered worried about. Actually in three weeks.
That could be done October fourth, after a bye. They
traveled on North Carolina. That one's gonna be interesting because
of the Bill Belichick effect. We'll talk about Bill Belichick
another time. Boston College SMU, which will be interesting. SMU
(09:17):
is kind of up and down right now. They got
Florida State later and in the close season with South Carolina,
who didn't have to good of a game. But my
point with all of this is still that Clemson is
Clemson ing and I don't know what to think about
what they're gonna be because we had higher expectations for them.
I feel like they did for themselves, and not saying
(09:39):
that they didn't have high expectations for themselves, but it
just does not look like they hit any of that.
Let me know what y'all think. I want to hear
y'all's comments. Let me know what y'all think in the
comments section. Is Clemson in trouble? Could be? Okay, Let's
talk about some of these big games that happened in
the SEC this week, because there was a lot of
(10:02):
big ones for us to enjoy. If you checked out
the Sleeper app for daily Fantasy Football, if not, you
are definitely missing out. Like today, I'm looking at this
Josh Allen promo that they have on here, and they
do this quite often a sleeper. They'll give you promo
options like a Josh Allen forero point five yards in
the game. Of course he's gonna throw for more than that,
(10:23):
so it's a freebie. You take that the way it
works is you pick two or more players and you
pick more or less on their stats. We're gonna come
in here and we're gonna look at some of the
topics and theft oh ceedee, lamb boomer sooner eighty huh hm,
let's go ahead, go more on the eighty. I think
he's gonna get some yards in this game. Finally, we're
(10:43):
gonna take Trevor et and going less on the rushing
yards because it's Jacksonville. But you picked that more or less,
and then if these win, you can win up to
a thousand times your money. So you can turn that
football knowledge into dollar signs and Payday's baby. So check
them out. Use our promo code Unfair and you'll get
one hundred percent match up to one hundred dollars on
(11:06):
your first deposit at Sleepers. Download the app, use our
promo code, and go win yourself. Some money. Terms and
conditions apply. See Sleepers Terms of Use for details. SEC
Ball had us some action like so I will open
it with the acc I know I should have started
with sec Slate with all the good stuff, but I
want to talk about that clemsoning thing because that kind
(11:26):
of led back to like I said the conversation about
my in my brain about how I was gonna put
this product out, because for me, I didn't really talk
NFL week one because it's like I'm like, I'm like
a kid in a candy store. I don't know what
to do, and I'm just jumping around from game to game.
You're trying to figure things out. But then I have
to go in and research the backstories to understand what's
(11:48):
going on. SEC ball Week three, Now we're starting to
get an idea of who's who and what's what. Georgia
reminded us that their jo Georgia and Tennessee reminded us
that they're Tennessee. For those that know, I have a
soft spot for Tennessee, I've always had it as a kid.
That's one of the teams that I've always rooted for,
(12:10):
especially in the SEC. But now that my Okahoma as
soon as are in the SEC, Tennessee has to drop
to number two, which is okay. Still got love for him.
And Josh Heipel was out there balling, not physically on
the field, but his team was putting it together on
the opposite side of the ball against a Kirby Smart
defense that we did not think was going to be
able to do that. Like Tennessee the game, they lost
(12:32):
forty four to forty one, and it was a testament
of college football kickers. Goes back to what I told you,
when you go look at the history of stuff, there's
always something right, you know. It's just you get to
follow the timeline and see how things build up into
the end result. Last time Tennessee beat them was Josh
Dobbs hell Mary Pass what roughly ten years ago almost,
(12:55):
and Georgia went out there and it was fun. It
was just a fun game in general, like all the
way across it was fun to watch. I'm sitting there
watching this game, like, oh man, Tennessee jumps out like
they always do every single year. You ask my guy
Eric Kane over there locked on balls, they'll tell you
(13:17):
Tennessee always jumps out big. On Georgia, they always jump
out big. They start off strong and then then it
just kind of falls apart. When Tennessee has teams that
are really good. They started off strong twenty one to seven.
And I'm watching this game like, oh Tennessee, Joey Aguilar,
him and Chris Brazil out there just bawling like he
(13:41):
was throwing like up in the air. The seventy two
yard touchdown was amazing, Like it was just concentration. Then
he got a fourteen yarder. Then he goes for a
fifty six yarder, like you saw the concentration in that,
and it was just like, Oh, this is gonna be
a fun game. Give me more. Then it back to
what typically happens. I think what was most fascinating about
(14:03):
this game is how was a back and forth. Tennessee
let Georgia come back, take the lead. Then Tennessee goes
out there and scores on another big play. Georgia goes
out there and gets the lead. The Tennessee turns back
around and gets a big score. Then they get a
field goal, and six minutes left in the game, you're
up thirty eight to thirty and you think it should
be done. Then Tennessee's defense just starts giving up a
(14:24):
whole bunch of open passes. Gonna stoped and showed us
that no, I'm leading this thing. And he goes out
there leads them on a nice, nice drive, non plays
twenty five yards hit London Humphries for that touchdown, and
you're like oh, and then Tennessee let them get a
two point conversion. That was why I was like, no,
you stop two conversions. Good. But then Tennessee goes out
(14:46):
their drives to the end of the game and you're like,
all right, they're just going up the field, and it
felt like they were going for a field goal to
win the game. And I was thinking the entire ton
sent on the couch of don't do that. Don't try
to win this game with the field goal. Please don't
do it. Please don't please, please don't please please please
(15:07):
don't please don't go for a field and they did it.
They end the game with a field goal and they
missed it. And then when it went to overtime, they
were forced to kick a field goal, a forty two
yarder to be exact. That's not good. Four plays one
yard and you end up still having to kick a
(15:28):
field goal. I was like, dang, this game's over because
Georgia went out there and scored. Didn't take long. It
was like, wouldn't play and got them like right there
into the into the you know, inside the five. But
that was a fun game. That's the type of games
we enjoy about college football because I think Tennessee's gonna
(15:48):
bounce back because I think Tennessee is a really good team.
I just don't think they can be Georgia. That seems
to be kind of the way that it works is
that George's continues to own them. It is what it is.
But then you go from there, you get Florida, LSU.
We got questions. We're gonna talk about these quarterbacks at
(16:09):
the end. I got because we got two quarterbacks in
the sec that we got a lot of questions about that.
Everybody was excited about. A lot of the weeds were
placed out there. I wasn't on that weed section, but
in a way I wasn't. But you know, I don't
take blame for it. I'm just gonna say that we'll
talk about LSU Florida at the end of this this segment.
But that Notre Dame, Texas A and M game was elite.
(16:36):
Marcel Reed drives like I was wondering if they were
gonna go ahead and just like lose this game because
of the way that they were playing. I was like, Man,
they ain't gonna do this right. This ain't gonna work out.
It worked out, It really did. I was impressed with
the way that Marcel replayed. I was impressed at how
(17:04):
he had the composure to get them down there. There
were some questionable stuffs in there, but seventeen for thirty seven,
I mean, of course under fifty percent, but you through
for three hundred and sixty yards two touchdowns like the
wide receiver room at Texas A and M is absurd.
Craver in that catch the spin around and just dip absurd, absurd, absurd,
(17:30):
just that good Notre Dame. Nowhero and two. They don't
have a chance of getting into the playoffs, do they?
I mean even at ten and two do they even
get it at large? Like when I look at the schedule,
who they have left? They play Perdue, which they should
throttle at Arkansas, That to me is probably the game.
(17:54):
So Arkansas put up a really good fight against Ole Miss,
really good fight US. You see Boise State, who's not
very good. N C State, Yeah, Usc, very interesting game,
Navy pit pits disappointed US with the West Virginia loss Syracuse.
(18:15):
No one cares about them. They're running wind sprints still
after that game. And then you wrap things up with
Stanford at Stanford. Am I supposed to believe in Notre
Dame because I don't I don't know. I don't know
(18:40):
how I feel about that one. But I'll say this,
I'm not sold on Notre Dame being anything this season,
and I think we probably should go ahead and just
walk away. We should, We should be done with them.
(19:03):
It's no shade against them. But at the same time,
no to day man gave y'all nothing that y'all wont
it like at all this season. I think they'll be
finished a year strong. Think they're at least nine wins.
They should think the team is still overall good. But
they needed those two wins. They need the Miami win
and need Texas A and M win to get themselves
into the playoffs. I don't know how they're gonna backdoor
(19:25):
their way in, but as well as a possibility. But
speaking of Arkansas, how fun was that Arkansas game against
Old Miss? They were going back and forth, and I
gotta give to Old Miss shout out to them. It's
forty one to thirty five. I thought Arkansas was gonna
drive at the nan. Talen Green is considered the media
darling right now, but the fact that Ole Miss got
(19:47):
not one, but two quarterbacks, they can go out there
and launch passes. What the heck. That's still crazy to
me that they have that. Speaking of quarterbacks, we got
two quarterbacks we got questions about. Let's talk about that
next here on on fair Sports. If you checked out
the sleeper app for daily Fantasy football, if not, you
(20:09):
are definitely missing out. Like today, I'm looking at this
Josh Allen promo that they have on here, and they
do this quite often a sleeper. They'll give you promo
options like a Josh Allen forero point five yards in
the game. Of course he's gonna throw for more than that,
so it's a freebie you take that. The way it
works is you pick two or more players, and you
(20:30):
pick more or less on their stats. We're gonna come
in here and we're gonna look at some of the
topics and the fat oh ceedee lamb boomer sooner eighty
huh hm, let's go ahead, go more on the eighty.
I think he's gonna get some yards in this game. Finally,
we're gonna take Trevor et and going less on the
rushing yards because it's Jacksonville. But you picked that more

Just wrap this bad boy up, put a ball in
and think you of pulling up his light buddy. If
you new to the channel, subscribe. We'll get consistent on this.
I promise you one day. We will one day. One day.
Is arch Manning broken? I'm truly curious, And I don't
say that in a facetious way. Y'all know that I
don't really talk quote unquote smack like a lot of
(21:40):
my counterparts and friends and people that you know are
supposed to be cool with me, how they do me
all the time. But I'm curious, though, is arch Manning broking?
They played against you? Tip of course, Texas wins the
game like they're supposed to twenty seven to ten, but
they only beat them twenty seven to ten. It was
a battle of five stars. Though you had Malachi as
(22:03):
well as arch Manning going against each other. Arch ran
for two touchdowns and he threw one to Wingo late.
At one point, arch Manning through ten straight and completions
(22:25):
against UTIP. Texas fans are in shambles. In the comments
section and in the message board, they're losing their minds,
their collective minds. They are in shambles, and rightfully so.
Because we were told that arch Manning was going to
be the savior of college football. Paul Finebaum told us
(22:47):
he was the next coming of a Tim Tebow. We
were told everything about arch that literally has not come true.
He was forty four percent completion percentage against UTIP. And
I get when people are gonna say, oh, this is,
you know, his first time starting, you know, blah blah blah.
I don't argue against that at all. But I asked
(23:14):
this question, and this is a legitimate question. Anybody can
answer it. I know, have sooner fans in here say
some stuff. Maybe some Texas fans show up and answer
this for me. He's been in Steve Sarkisian system for
the last three years. He red shirted as a freshman,
played his red shirt freshman year behind Quinn yours in
(23:35):
which he couldn't beat him out, and his sophomore slate
is him starting as a redshirt sophomore, and he looks
worse than he did last year. It's arch Manning broken.
(23:57):
We asked that same question about who DJ Lackway. I'm
not sure if y'all noticed the way he played in
that game against LSU, but he threw five interceptions. I
in no way, shape or for him, thought that was
gonna happen. And I was one of those people that
thought that. When I saw DJ Lagway as a human being,
I was like, Oh my goodness, he's a giant, nervous human.
(24:17):
He's gonna be fun to watch. And he looked like chicks,
I tell you, chicks. He did not look good whatsoever
in that game. Florida's defense did everything possible to keep
LSU from being able to dominate that game. They were
(24:38):
forcing punt after punt after punt. Dog Like, I'm looking
at this box score right now for this reason, because
I wanted to tell y'all, LSU punted the ball seven
flipping times in Florida only punted at five, but they
also threw five interceptions, so they get you ten ten giveaways,
(25:00):
ten givebacks. LSU had to punt the ball seven times.
Their punter had three hundred fifty three yards punting nussm
are two and twenty yards passing came. Durham had a
solid game fifteen carried ninety three yards six yards of
carry roughly not bad like LSU wins this game because
(25:31):
they were turned an interception for a touchdown is how
they closed this game out. Basically, they scored one offensive
touchdown in this game, LSU. I mean, Florida's defense is
for real. They play really good ball, but Lagway is
not helping them whatsoever. Like I said, Lagway, similar to Arch,
(25:51):
are they broken the expectation going into this seasons? Both
of these quarterbacks were supposed to be dominant forces in
the game. Dominant Like I'm for real when I say
dominant is what we were expecting out of both of them,
and we are not getting it. So I ask again,
(26:12):
are these dudes broken? Should I be concerned about Arch
and Lagway? I know a lot of you are enjoying this,
and I understood you know, as fans, we should enjoy
when other opposing players are not playing very good because
(26:34):
you gotta face them and you get to do things.
But I want you to know though, the next game
coming up for both Florida and both Texas in two
weeks is each other. Well, three weeks is each other.
October fourth, Florida hosts Texas. Now next week Florida has Miami,
so that's gonna be an interesting test to see if
(26:55):
Lagway can bounce back. And Texas has yet another cupcake
on their schedule. They actually play against Sam Houston on
the twentieth. They get a bye week, just like Florida.
Coming off the bye, they play each other. I will
be watching that game intently like I would be eyeballing
(27:17):
it because that weekend Oklahoma plays Kent State, and I
expect for them to do exactly to can't stay what
they did the temple. Oklahoma has Auburn coming up, though
I didn't even really talk about them in their game.
Because the teams that were supposed to destroy their opponents
destroyed their opponents in the bye week. You got that
from all of your SEC schools. You got Missouri cooking
(27:39):
occasions fifty two to ten. Auburn gotta ask questions about
Jackson Arnold. Thirty one to fifteen is not a good score.
Against South Alabama. They should have blasted them. Their talent
is way better, way better. Bama gave it to Wisconsin.
That was expected like that wasn't that one? And I
(28:00):
didn't even give love to Vanderbilt the way I should have.
That's only Vandy fans. We're gonna do that next time.
I'm gonna talk about Diego Pavia like crazy with the
NFL stuff, because Diego Pavia is one that I'm just like.
He's a dog. People hate him. South Carolina losing sellers hurt,
but man, Diego Pavia went out there and close it out. Dog.
(28:22):
He's a dog and he wants the ball in his
hands at all times to win those games. I guess
he does a really good job of not getting himself
injured by not taking too many crazy he even though
he does. But I digress. Mississippi State killed Alcorn State
like they're supposed to. So you saw Kentucky basically gave
it to Eastern Michigan. They're up twenty eight to what
(28:44):
sixteen at the half. Didn't think that was coming, did we,
because let me see who was there? Yeah, Kyle, I
actually didn't have guys out of plan in that game
that had cut her bowlly right, don't. I don't even
(29:04):
know what to think about Kentucky as far as the
team goes. He ended his shoulder. That's what it is.
Kyle's out her shoulder that he didn't play. But it's
not the point. My big point is it feels like
the quarterback situation is broken in Texas and Florida. I'm
curious to see what they turn into they when they
play each other. That's the game all of us need
(29:25):
to be tuned into. That's the game I care about
the most. It's gonna be a fun matchup. So I
appreciate y'all pulling up. Let's wrap this bad boy up.
