I have no desire to attract “followers”. I want to attract leaders. Leaders who are willing to learn or apply their strengths to help other people. That’s it! That’s a leader.

Here’s how I do this strategically.

Speaker 1 (00:07):
All right, So today we're going to talk about the
third part of attracting leaders into your world. And I
want to talk about this because it's important that people
understand that it's not that hard. Okay, So many people make
the idea of being an online influencer, this big dramatic thing. Well,
my friends, I happen to believe that that I happen

(00:30):
to believe that we are all infinitely unique. Right through
our strengths, we shows that you are something that's never
happened nor ever will happen again. And I happen to
know that if you were sitting in front of me,
and if we were going over your strengths, okay, you
would see nothing but proof of your excellence, and you
would know step by step how to apply it to

(00:50):
everything you do. That truth means that who you are
is something that the whole world needs, because the whole
world cannot create just you. And so if you were
if that's true, which it is, then you were put
here to create, My friends, you were put here to create.

(01:11):
And any thought or belief that you have right, any
thought or belief that you have that leads you to
believe that that is not true or it shuts you
down or it keeps you from creating. Any thought that
leads to that effect is not true because it's contradictory

(01:32):
to why you were created to begin with. You were
created to create, my friends, So and since you were
created to create, then what we want to do is
find other people who have discovered this truth about themselves
that they were meant to create, even through the service
of others, they were meant to create. People have a
desire to create at a very high level. And if

(01:55):
you have it, if you're going to honor your desire
to create, then the most amazing thing you can do
for your mission, your mission and your beliefs and the
things that you want to create is to find other
creators to contribute because they latch onto your mission and
what you want to be a part of. Right, even
if you're not the leader of the world, you know
what I mean, you can be a leader in your

(02:16):
own world and what you personally believe in. And so
in order to do that, you have to have a
desire occurrency to attract leaders, not followers. I don't want followers.
I want leaders, or I want people who want to
be leaders. That's why I do my podcast That's why
I have the unleash or strengths community. That's why I

(02:36):
write books. As I'm putting a call out to leaders everywhere,
put me in front of the people that you are
in front of. Help me, help them love who they
are and apply what it is that you teach at
a higher level. I also want to put you in
front of my people. Put you in front of the
people that I have attracted, the wonderful leaders that I

(02:58):
have somehow magically brought together. That's what I'm looking for.
And so how I do that is I honor these
four qualities. The Gallop has gathered right through years of
polling and millions of people right they have discovered that
there are four qualities that people want to see in

(03:22):
a leader. The first episode I did, I talked about trust.
Second episode I talked about hope. Today we're going to
talk about compassion and why this is so critical. But
for me, compassion ties into trust and hope. So I'm
gonna revisit what we talked about before, and then they'll
give you a little call to action for this episode
and we'll wrap it up. So, first off, trust, how

(03:44):
do we create trust? We do everything we can to
prove to people that all we feel passionately called to
do is help. That's it. And we want to make
it a business because we want to help all the time.
And if we don't make it business right, then we're
not going to be helping as many people as we could.

(04:05):
Imagine if your absolute commitment and service to other people
was funded, you would do it all the time. So
it has to be a business, my friends, and exchange
of value if you will. All I want to do
is help you. That's my goal. Okay. Number two hope.
How we create hope is we tell our story. We

(04:28):
share with people where we once were, how we got
introduced to the solutions that we feel passionate to share
with the world, and you know, like what we thought
about them and why we weren't sure but we did
it anyway, and then ultimately how we've experienced joy and
happiness and success in our lives because of these things.

(04:49):
And when we share our story, we create hope to
help other people go from where we once were to
where they want to be right And that's the importance
of compassion. Compassion is simple. It is so insanely valuable
and so insanely simple. Compassion is simply giving a person

(05:13):
credit for where they are. That's it. Understand this one
simple truth that everyone, even the people you can't stand,
are doing the best with what they know. And if
you knew what they knew, what they do would make
so much more sense to you, and maybe you wouldn't
be so angry or frustrated or lack compassion. And what

(05:39):
I want to tell you right now is that a
leader is not someone who makes excuses for people, but
simply meets them where they are. That is what compassion is.
It's not forgiving someone for not taking care of themselves,
or not doing more for themselves, or not facing their fears.

(05:59):
Compassion is not giving people, you know, the freedom to
be well, we'll say the word lazy, all right, even
though I don't really believe people are lazy. We don't.
It's not about that. Compassion is about giving people a
break for where they are, honoring them where they are,

(06:21):
and being of value to support them to get where
they want to be. You can't do that if you're
not compassionate about where they are. This is why powerful
leaders are so good at doing what they do. It's
because they understand, they get it, they feel the pain.
They've been there, they've done that, and they know how
hard it is. But they don't make any excuses for anybody,

(06:43):
and they certainly don't allow people to not do something
about about it. And so compassion, my friends, is a
critical third part. And so how do you do it?
Is what does it look like to be compassionate? It's
to communicate to the world where you once fail or
where you have suffered, or maybe where you currently are suffering,

(07:05):
and then letting the world know that if you're feeling
this way, or if you're seeing this or this has happened,
it's okay. And especially if you've experienced trauma, it's time
to start letting people know that it wasn't your fault.
You've sure you made mistakes, sure you did some things

(07:26):
that now you wish you hadn't done, but you weren't
in as in control as you think you were. And
so for me to reach out to you right now,
and for those of you who have experienced extreme trauma,
there is an aspect of that event or those events
that happened over and over again that when you look

(07:49):
back on it, right when you look back on it,
it's like you're bringing who you currently are to that
past event. And when you bring who you currently are
to that past event, all you can do is see
yourself doing the same stupid things over and over and
again that led to these traumatic events. And so what

(08:11):
that is, my friends, is abuse. And it's unfair because
you weren't. You're not that person that you once were.
You're different. Now, you're smarter, you're more evolved, you're more talented,
you have far better, more more clear perspectives, which means
that in that time when that happened, those traumatic events

(08:33):
or that traumatic event happened, you weren't fully in control.
And I've learned this through my own personal study through
understanding trauma, because I've learned that in helping people understand
their strengths, who they are infinitely unique, and how powerful
they are, I have learned that there are people out
there who have experienced major trauma and it gets in

(08:53):
the way of me helping them see their value. And
it's only because they take way too much responsibility for
the traumatic event. I know because I've been there. I've
had extremely traumatic events happen to me growing up, things
that I wish I could undo or remove out of
my brain. Those memories had has effects on me, and

(09:16):
so I want you to know it's okay. I have
your back. I love you where you are, but I
will not make excuses for you to not make steps forward.
So getting help, getting support is the key, my friends.
In fact, in the Unleash your Strengths community, we actually
