major social media platforms. Got aspecial guest for you guys this week.
(00:53):
This man has been out there grinding, putting out Titans content, putting out
draft content for you guys like crazy. His name is Jake Robertson of Glory
Day Sports at Glory Day Sports onTwitter. Jake, are you at Glory
Day Sports? On everything? It'spretty much Glory Day Sports across all platforms.
We do have the Morning Glory Showof course on YouTube, but it's
under the banner of Glory Day Sportsand that's where it's all originated from.
(01:17):
But yeah, it's all socials, all socials, Glory Day Sports awesome.
Well, thank you for taking sometime to join me this week to talk
a little bit of Titans, totalk a little bit about the NFL Draft.
I was just telling you before westarted recording. Every year I try
to organize a little like Best NashvilleSports Podcast, Best Nashville Sports Writer Award,
(01:38):
because I think this community, Imean, you're putting your thoughts out
there on the Internet for people toconsume. It's not something that a lot
of people look at and are verykind and considerate with. And I feel
like this, you know, peoplethat do what we do catch a lot
of shit sometimes because people come acrossand like, oh, who does this?
(02:00):
Who does a stony guy think heis that he's so important to put
his thoughts out there like that? And I don't think a lot of people
take the time to understand it's itjust comes from passion, love of the
craft and that sort of thing. So I try to take some time every
year to recognize this community, thiscreative space, because I do think there
are a lot of really good Titanscreators out there. I think you're one
(02:22):
of them. And I was justtelling you before we started recording that there
were some people that showed you somelove in this past year's Nashville Sports Writer
for your your coverage of the Titans. So I I appreciate your work.
I'm stoked to have you on myman. I just wanted to give you
some flowers a little bit before webefore we get into it. How long
have you been in the game,What what made you decide to get into
(02:44):
the content creating game? And wheredid where did you start? You started
on YouTube if I'm not mistaken, but but yeah, yeah, So basically
I'm from tas, Oklahoma, mida Tight's fan my entire life. My
family grew up in Houston, sobasically whenever they moved to see I fall
along with them. A lot ofmy family went to either didn't become fans
of the NFL at all till theTexans came around, or they went over
(03:07):
to Dallas and joined the Cowgirls. But basically, during four or five years
ago, I was looking to consumeTitans content and there was nothing on YouTube.
It was pretty much Tighten upload, who's been around for a long time
now. It was me and him, and I knew jack shit about anything
(03:28):
as far as content creation goes. And you can go back to those first
videos. It's grainy, I'm talkinginto a phone. It's real bad.
It's real bad, and basically shoutout to ATA just gaming. He commented
on a post a long time agoone of those videos. It was like,
hey, have you ever checked outTitans Twitter's there's a lot of good
Titans fans over there. And Iwas like, I'll see what I can
(03:51):
do. I'll hop over there andmake some little posts here and there.
And I was really getting in graphicdesign back then. I was like,
well, I just make some graphics, throw them up there, and it's
it's slowly grown. And now we'repushing ten thousand followers up there, and
I mean, that's that's been amazing. It's been amazing. And now we're
starting back up on the on theYouTube side of platforms. And man,
(04:12):
my biggest fear growing up was publicspeaking in front of anybody, And now
I can't get enough of it,hopping onto it shows like this or our
show, I mean, love it, love it. But yeah, definitely
definitely check out the Morning Glory Show. Make sure all socials of course,
and catch all of my stupid, stupid content. Yeah, man, I
was just telling you it's seven o'clockCentral on Thursday mornings, right because I
(04:35):
set my alarm for seven o'clock, which means I'm actually out of bed by
like seven fifteen, seven twenty, and that's usually when I joined the show.
But I try to try to hopon and catch you guys. How
did the three of you come togetherfor this show? By the way,
So basically, I've always been anearly morning riser. I'm up at five
am Monday through Sunday and that's whatmy wife is asleep. That's when I'm
(05:01):
available to make content for the mostpart. So I just kind of put
it out there and to eat there. And I was like, hey,
I'm thinking about starting this up.Would anybody be interested on this? And
being coos And we had forty fiftypeople reach out and that were interested,
which I did not expect at all, And I was like, Okay,
(05:23):
well this has got to become areal thing now. And b will tf
TV in Nashville. He covers alot of talking to the fans going into
the stadium, so I knew hehad a background in that. And then
Jonathan at E Sports Dalen, heHe's got a lot of gaming background,
(05:45):
he has some marketing experience and inthis realm of things and just kind of
checked out both of their content thatthey were making solo, and I was
like, oh, I want totalk to these guys. So we connected
a little bit before that and we'relike, let's let's try the out.
Let's see what is going to workout with this. And I want to
see where their kind of knowledge onthe stuff was. And I think they're
smarter than I am. And nowwe've got some opportunities coming up and some
(06:10):
big news that we might be breakinghere soon as well. But it's been
great. We've been doing about alittle over a month now and the responses
have been overwhelming. We will loveall the fans that checking out the show.
I mean, listen, man,if you want to break some news,
we're live on YouTube, Facebook andTwitter right now. That's there's no
better place to break some news thanhere on the Sobros Network. By the
(06:32):
way, I asked to Ron whenI interviewed him, to Ron Davenport if
he wanted to break some news too. So it's just a it's just a
bit. You know, I wouldn'tbe I wouldn't be taking care of my
content if I didn't try and getthe scoop here. Well, we're not
going to put out the full newsjust yet, but but basically, the
show's going on the road and we'rereally looking forward to the draft, and
(06:53):
we'll just say that for now.I'll take it. I'll take it.
That is a breaking news here onthe Unofficial Titans Podcast. We'll keep up
the great work, man. I'llsee you guys Thursday morning. I'll be
there and I will I just Iknow, I've told you several times now.
I set my alarm for seven, but I'm not up fifteen minutes late.
I'm gonna set my alarm for sixso I can I can get up
in time. I'll have my coffee, get my notes together, comb my
(07:15):
hair, that sort of thing.I'll be I'll be ready to go by
seven. This is my biggest, biggest fear in the world, is just
oversleeping the call time, which acouple of weeks ago Jonathan did do.
But it's like, hey, ifI'm not there, I'm the one hitting
live. If I'm not there,it's not going. So it's my biggest
fear. I'll wake up two threetimes in the middle of the night.
(07:38):
I'm like, did my alarm gooff and it's one am, so I
don't sleep well the nights before I'llsay that. Well, we are going
to talk Titans, I promise. That's why I brought you on here today.
If you are watching live on YouTube, you have a question, you
have a comment for either of us, get it in that comment section.
Let us know you're watching, letus know what you want us to talk
(08:01):
about, and we will get toit as they pop up. Jake,
I don't know about you, butI was drunk on Broadway downtown Nashville,
Tennessee, on Friday night when Igot the news that the Titans would be
trading for Lagerious Need, trying desperatelyto fight the crowds. Like my wife's
(08:22):
literally dragging me through the street bymy hoodie because I'm just staring at my
phone trying to get updates as towhat's going on. Where were you when
you heard the news that the Titanswould be trading for Lagarious Sneed. I
mean, personally, I was takingBig Number two right before bed, and
I was playing on my phone.I was like, I'm about to crawl
in and my wife's waiting on me, and I was like, Hey,
(08:43):
I can't go to bed right now, I've got a tweet. I've got
a job to do. Yeah.So four hours later, I'm still sitting
in bed, going, man,is this real? Yeah? But I
mean super huge news. I meanwe kind of it was out there.
I mean, if he was goingsomewhere, it was either US or Indianapolis.
(09:05):
And then it just it broke whennobody thought it was gonna break.
I feel like, yeah, thatit was like the definition of a Friday
night news dump. But I don'tknow, I don't know why. I
mean, I guess it's just thetiming of these things when they when they
come together, you know, it'syou just never know. And so I
thought it was a pretty pretty wildmove, pretty bold of the Titans.
(09:30):
But I really don't think the compensationto actually get the deal done was all
that much at all. I Mean, the way I phrased it on here
on last week's show is like, would you give up a third round pick
to just take Lagarious Need? Yes? Absolutely? Then seeing the contract details
come out, which we've gotten,I think we got him this morning yesterday.
(09:52):
I don't remember. My brain's somuch right, I've got the full
full contract details, but we knowit's seventy six point four million, four
years, fifty five million guaranteed witha twenty million signing bonus, which pennies
on the dollar in my opinion,Yeah, we stole him, and I
was. I mean, if itwas a second round pick in twenty twenty
(10:13):
five, I would have winn willingtoo if I had a couple drinks in
me. But third round, seventhround pick, swalk, that's a steal.
That's a freaking steal. Yeah,I'm with you, buddy. I
was on this show weeks ago saying, give up thirty eight, give up
thirty eight for him. I'm totallyfine with that. As my ring light
goes out, this happened to melast week. I don't know now,
(10:33):
I do look like I'm recording froma bunker somewhere, But bear with me,
folks. But I would have beencool with them giving up thirty eighth
because I I just after watching Sneadthe last he's been in the league since
twenty twenty if I'm not mistaken, and just seeing him grow into one of
(10:54):
the top five cornerbacks in the league, and I think you can make a
pretty compelling argument that he's on thehigher end of that spectrum like those are
the people that you pay. Cornerbacksare are hard to come by in the
NFL. When you find one,it's a premium position you pay him.
So to me, I'm like, you know what this is. This is
good business right here. You gota guy that can be at the top
(11:18):
of his position that just immediately solidifieswhat was I think outside of the offensive
line, in my opinion, thecornerback room was the biggest weakness after the
twenty twenty three season. And nowyou pay him with cheeto, and you
have Roger McCreary in the slot, and suddenly this is a group that on
paper looks stronger than it's ever beenhere in Nashville. So I'm I'm pumped
(11:41):
for it. Any any concern onyour part about the knee, now,
No, I think I think ourbuddy Zach Lyons kind of put it out
their best. That I mean,he practices. He's out there in every
game. Second most total snaps inthe ENFL last season on defense at twelve
sixty, which was one snap behindCamp Sutton. I mean, if you're
(12:05):
on the field, that's all Icare about, if you're playing, and
when he's out there, he's aDog, he went through murderers row.
As far as receivers, this seasongoes and outperformed on shining, shining colors,
And like you said, yeah,we're parent them. With Cheetoh and
Roger McCreary, definitely the best threewe've had probably in Nashville. I think
the second's got to be Logan Ryan, adri Jackson and Malcolm Butler, but
(12:26):
I think this is tiers above that. And with Cheeto, I mean,
he was asked to be that CEVone in Cincinnati last year after tearing his
ACL the year before that, andI think we're going to get that next
breakout coming back into this year.Just like Harold Landery last year, he
wasn't who he was and as theseason progressed, he got better and better.
(12:48):
And if I'm looking at Cheeto andRoger McCreery and they're matching up against
these wide receiver twos and wide re'sreceiver threes in the the AFC South Alec
Piris, Josh Downs and Goo Collins, Tank Dell gave Davis Zay Jones.
We've got the advantage there. Onehundred and yeah. I think with losing
somebody like Kevin Byerd last season,we lost a lot of leadership on the
(13:11):
team, especially the defensive side ofthe ball, and I think Cheeto he
comes in and he's immediately maybe thesecond best at that behind Jeffrey Simmons.
Baby, I mean that that mightbe rain is bringing culture back to Nashville.
Yeah, and that was that wasmy big thing when the Titans were
rumored to be in on CJ.Gardner Johnson and everybody was like, why
(13:35):
why pay for this old guy that'syou know, busted the twilight of his
career, Like, yeah, hewas productive last season, but you know,
you can't really rely on that projectingforward. And I remember telling Zach
I think I was on either fwards or a football show. I'm like,
look, part of the problem herewith the Titans is that this roster
(13:56):
is depleted not only in talent anda bit, but it's kind of depleted
in leadership and culture guys and tonecenters. So if you can get part
of that with the player, Ithink it's a pretty good value. And
I think they they got that withwith Cheeto as well. And you can
hear it in his press conferences too, like he just he comes across as
(14:18):
a guy that you want in yourlocker room. So I'm kind of stoked
about it. I think there isstill room for them to add a veteran
safety. I know Marcus May wason the table at one point. Everybody,
you know, the sky was fallingbecause the Titans weren't signing guys last
week, And it kind of soundslike part of that might have been because
they didn't know how much money theywere going to have tied up in lagarious
(14:41):
need if that deal went through. So I wouldn't be surprised to see one
of those guys, one of theseveteran safety signed at some point this week.
And then, Man, I thinkI think the secondary is going to
look a lot different in twenty twentyfour. But I'm curious where where you're
at as far where is the teamrebuilds so far, and what holes you
(15:03):
think there are still left to fillin free agency before we get to the
draft. Talk. Yeah, Ithink that's something that the Titans and the
Tights fan base is not used to. Is we used to get all these
leaks out of Diane Rassini and allof that, and Ray Parth and he's
a g real g's moving silence likeLasagna and We've seen that twice now,
(15:24):
and we see as we move forward, I wouldn't be surprised if we get
another signing of Justin Simmons as MarcusMay to fill in that safety room,
which is definitely a need obviously insidelinebacker. You got to find somebody else.
You bring in Kenneth Murray and he'sa sea ball, get ball.
He's Bobby Bouchet out there, butyou got to have somebody to wear the
(15:46):
green dot, and as of rightnow, they don't have anybody to do
that. Doctor Gibbey, he's gothis pH d, but I don't think
I want him out there playing asignificant amount of role. So I think
they could go insidelinebacker with the IsaiahSimmons the corpse of Lake Martinez. Those
(16:06):
would be two ones maybe out there. Tackle. You have to find at
least one more tackle before we getinto this draft, and have that be
Andrews Pete, who they brought infor the visit reportedly, or maybe somebody
like a Makai Becton. If youcan stay healthy. I mean, he's
got the trades, and you getBilly see anything out there and not an
(16:27):
offensive line, He's gonna promote them. He's gonna get him up there.
Big coach, big coach. Butuh, going back to the defense,
you got to have some interior defensiveline. They brought in Sebastian Joseph No
Day to bear with Jeffrey Simmons, but you gotta have somebody else out there.
I'm I'm highed than consensus. Ifeel like on somebody like a KeAndre
(16:49):
Colburn. I liked what I sawdown the stretch, but you got to
add some more beef and you can'trely on that by any means. And
I kind of put it out therelast week that it kind of makes a
lot of sense to bring back adebating and clowney I mean obviously stole from
us going the first round. Yeah, expectations are a lot lower now,
(17:11):
of course. Or maybe just breecontent creator's Nightmary, you bring in somebody
like a Kyle Phillips with two l'sthe volunteer and just throw him out there
and maybe we can keep one ofthem healthy on either side of the ball.
I'm curious what you think about somepotential in house options to fill some
(17:33):
of these roles, because I thinkBrian Callahan has been pretty transparent in some
of the interviews that he's done witha lot of the press. I know
Paul Kaharsky has been down there filmingsome stuff with him at the owner's meetings
or whatever it is down there, and there's some enlightening stuff coming out in
these sound bites that we're getting,so, you know, stuff like maybe
(17:56):
Rashad Weaver may be able to playwith his hand in his in the dirt
a little bit more, and maybehe could help fill that Deniko Autry role.
Brian Callahan kind of acknowledged that Dylanraidins as a guard and maybe NPF
and Jalen Duncan could be competing forright tackle. I it's wishful thinking in
(18:18):
my opinion. I don't think Iwould bank on any of these guys.
But are there options on this rosterthat you see that could help fill some
of these needs that we're talking about. As far as Weaver goes, I
mean, he can play that onetwo down defensive end for you. I
don't mind that. And that's kindof what you drafted him for originally,
(18:41):
was to eventually be that Denico Autryreplacement. Obviously not the best athlete and
definitely going to be a very lowlevel starter. Even if you get him
to that range. But I don'tmind having him in the rotation and then
go into the offensive line. Youdefinitely got Daniel brun Skill, you got
Ratans, you got MPF. Youcan really throw those three into that right
(19:03):
guard, right tackle less role, and I think Bill Callahan can get enough
out of them. But you stillgot a glaring hole on the other side.
And as far as Jalen Duncan goes, that's a guy we drafted that
we knew was a project. He'sgot the athletic traits and the fan base
is you're never gonna forgive him forwhat he did in his rookie year.
(19:26):
But rookies take time to develop, especially ones that need extra time to develop.
So I'm not saying that he cannever be a starter in this league.
I think maybe a year from nowwe can revisit that and maybe he
kicks inside the guard and he canplay there as well. I don't mind
that and having him be that swingtackle for you. I think that might
be his best role. But andthen like somebody like Traylan Burks, can
(19:51):
he slide into that wide receiver threerole for you? Can he be Tyler
Boyd for this offense. Can hestay healthy feet So that's a whole nother
avenue that we're still yet to seeand we're gonna get. I'm really excited
for this training camp because beforehand yougot to see the quarterbacks do the one
drill where the step into the bagsand the throw of the ball, and
(20:14):
that was really it. This year, with the new coaching staff and everybody
and the social media team, maybewe get to see more of that end
practice for the fans at least,So maybe we can kind of see what
that Brian and randcarth and are seeingon the field before the season starts.
That would be nice. That wouldcertainly be nice. I know there's some
rumblings in the media already that they'regoing to get more access than they were
(20:38):
used to under the previous regime, and I think that that trickles down to
us as content consumers that we getto see it too. So I'm hopeful
for that. But we've gotten toknow Brian Callahan a little bit throughout the
last couple of months since he's beenhired. I personally think it's refreshing to
have a coach go out there andjust speak candidly, openly and honestly about
(21:03):
a lot of stuff. And Idon't mean that to be like a you
know, a kicking Mike Rabel whilehe's down kind of deal, but it
is nice to kind of get realinsight into how this thing's strucking along.
What have your impressions of Brian Callahanbeen now that he's he's been on the
job for a couple of months now, it's been a brea, a breath
(21:26):
of fresh air, I feel like, to say the least, we just
kind of get to see who he'sgonna be as a coach to his players.
He's very approachable, is what itseems like talking to the media.
Sounds like he's taking time even afterthe press conferences, to talk to those
people individually and get to know them, get to talk about their families,
and it's not just business all thetime, which was variable of course.
(21:51):
So I'm really excited to see whathe's going to implement in year one and
kind of see how this is goingto play out. As far as coaching
staff goes, I think he's knockedout just about every positional coach, as
well as bringing in Dinard Wilson, who I think is going to be an
eventual head coach if he keeps doingwhat he's doing, and then I think
(22:12):
just overall, seeing the analytics sideof things brought into the office is a
huge plus. Or we're moving Nashvilleinto the twenty first century. As far
as football concerns go, I'm withyou, all right. Let's shift gears
and talk about the draft a littlebit. And if we're not careful,
we're going to be here for thenext five hours. So just you know,
(22:33):
rein me in if I'm going toolong here. But as far as
the Titans go at pick number seven, but the way free agency is gone,
you said it yourself, glaring needat tackle is left tackle. Just
run up to the podium and takeit. If you're there at seven,
or where do you sit on whatthey should do with the pick we're going
(22:55):
Dallas Turner seventh. Overall, let'sgo Leight, go board. Listen,
I'm starting the propaganda. I'm startingthe propaganda for that. I'm team trade
back one hundred percent of the times. I want more step ups to the
play to swing. As far asthese tackles go, Joe all obviously consensus
number one pick for all Titans fans. I don't see it that way.
(23:18):
I think it's very close. Iactually have fashion Wu one spot ahead of
Joe All, and I know that'sgoing to get a lot of heat.
But going back and just the lastcouple of days, went back and watched
that Ohio State tape for both ofthem, and it's not near as bad
as what everybody makes it out tobe. For Fashanhu, I thought Fishanhu
or Fashionu started off very well duringthat game and kind of trickled off towards
(23:44):
the end of it, and JoeAll just the opposite of that, took
a lot of time to catch upand then settled in down the stretch.
When fashion U struggled, it waswhen the defense of Iiowa State was pinning
their ears back. He knew theywere throwing the ball, and that's when
jt Tulima to Pho, I'm notsure. Yeah, that guy, he
(24:07):
was on the list to watch andthen he declared and went back to school.
So he really gave them a bunchof trouble on both sends. But
overall, I like what I seeout of fashion Do, and I think
as far as upside, I thinkhe slightly has it. But then you
go into Fulonga and these Latham andMems and these next tier. It's all
(24:27):
it's really close to me. Andas we know in the NFL Draft,
it's a crap shoot. If I'mtaking a couple of steps back and I
can pick up a third round pickor something in the future, I'm going
that route one hundred percent of thetime. And then the receivers, if
you can get one of these guys, is Marvin Harrison junior blik neighbors,
(24:48):
I think that's a I don't likethe word generational prospect. They're blue chip
and I think they're definitely they're theone to two on my big board.
And I'm going that route if Iand regardless of how high you are.
And Treilon Burkes and Calvin Ridley andDeAndre Hopkins, but the truth is Hopkins
is probably at the building next yearand that's just what it is. And
(25:11):
then Calvin Ridley, I mean,he's got a body of a twenty five
year old, like he said, but he's twenty nine, so and it's
probably more of a two year deal. Obviously it's four years in total,
but you got to have options. And Brian Callahan stated it the combine.
He said, if I have topick. I'm going with the guy that
scores the touchdowns and I want weaponsfor Will Levis. That's how I see
it. Have Do you see anydifferent? No, not really. I
(25:34):
mean I think it's Joe Walt,Marvin Harrison Junior. I to finish that
thought, neighbors, and I thinkI would put a Dunze in there myself.
But yeah, I don't think they'reI don't think they're as high on
a Donza in the in the roomas we are on the outside looking in
(25:56):
from what I've heard. So Ithink I don't know about Fashionu. I
just don't know, Like I haveno hands. I'll say that I don't
have any read on him whatsoever withthe Titans organization. And I'll put it
this way. This is my fourthyear actually covering the draft, just beyond
(26:18):
like knowing who the top ten prospectsare, and so the body of work
for me is not that vast comparedto a lot of other draft analysts around.
But All and Fashionu are the twobest offensive line prospects that I've ever
watched in four years of really reallyscouting. And I feel weird saying scouting
(26:42):
because I'm just a dickhead with amicrophone. But I feel the same way.
I have a poster syndrome every daythe sample size, Like these are
the two clear best guys on thetape, and so I'm having trouble understanding
why fashion U is falling the waythat he is, because I know people
(27:02):
are worried about the hand size, but it doesn't really show up as a
limitation on the tape, and soI just wonder, like, what's going
on in these interviews. Is theresomething medical that we don't know about?
Or are people just falling in lovewith Fuaga and Latham as they're getting to
meet them and know them and thatsort of thing. So I have no
issue putting fashion U in the conversationfor the pick at seven, but I
(27:26):
do think that it's it's probably gonnabe one of those two picks, and
the way that free agency has gone, it would be hard for me to
pass up Alt or fashion U.Or you know, if like DJ put
it out there that teams think Fuagacan transition to the left side. Now,
(27:47):
I mean, I don't mind thatat all. He's got the size.
And then guys like A'marius Mems Godfor did the Tidans ever dropped another
Georgia tackle. He came out andsaid at the combine, he's like,
I do sixty percent on the rightside. I do forty percent on the
left side this entire year. Andas far as physically gifted athletes, I
mean, he's probably number one outof those those big five that are gonna
(28:11):
go in the first round. SoI mean it's it's you like apples,
Do you like oranges? You likebananas? I mean, we've got some
different stuff in there, but overall, I mean there's not a wrong decision
as far as a lot of thesetackles go in the first round. I
think there's pretty much a considerable dropoff after that, though, which does
(28:33):
scare me. If they were topass at seven, who's there at thirty
eight? Well, I was gonnaask you what you thought of a guy
like Troy fai Utanu, who isgetting a lot of love right now and
kind of creeping up around the twentymark in some of the mock drafts recently.
If you know, he's been kindof a divisive guy throughout the draft
cycle. I like him a lot. I think he's he's a feisty guy,
(28:56):
he's a scrappy guy, but youdo see the in my opinion,
the lack of power in situations whereyou know they're on the goal line and
they've got to pick up two yardsto score a touchdown. You kind of
see some of those limitations there.A lot of people think he's gonna kick
inside to guard. I think he'sgot the athleticism to play at tackle.
(29:18):
If for some reason the Titans wereto take a elite neighbors Roma Dunese at
seven and somehow land Troy fi Wutanuat thirty eight, I would be doing
cartwheels over that. But what haveyou seen from watching the Washington left tackle?
So obviously he's got a lot ofreps over these last three years,
(29:41):
and he's been super consistent over thattime. My biggest concern was what was
the arm length going to look like, because it was reported that he had
very short arms, and I thinkI don't remember the top of my head,
but I think it was it wasthirty four plus. It was plenty
enough in the arm length. SoI have an early second round greade on
I think he's twenty eighth on mybig board currently, so if you get
(30:03):
him at thirty, I'm doing backflips. But after him, it's it's Kingsley,
Sue Mattia, the BYU tackle obviouslybowl off and on, very young
prospect, but a very athletic BruceFeldman's frequent list guy. And then you
guys got you got guys like PatrickPaul Javon Foster. There's there's I mean,
(30:25):
it's guys you don't want starting dayone in my opinion, maybe maybe
Bill can get him up there, but it's gonna there's gonna be there's gonna
be growing pains with the regardless witha rookie left tackle in my opinion.
So does the depth of this receiverclass does that help you in the earlier
(30:47):
rounds at all? Say no,you know what, let's go get players
that are premium options at their position. Like let's just say, hey,
we don't really like this edge class. Why don't we get Dallas Turner at
seven and then we can pick upa Luke McCaffrey in the fourth round or
something like that. Do you doyou think the depth of this wide receiver
(31:08):
class gives them that sort of flexibility? I mean, this is like you
said earlier, we haven't been coveringthe draft for ten plus year. We're
not Neil Kiper out here. I'vebeen doing it for three years. But
there's guys I have way down thedraft board that I'd be super happy bringing
in, and guys I want theTimes to acquire a third round pick this
(31:33):
year just because there's so much talentthere. You can go a thousand different
ways at receiver there, and yeah, in the fourth, I mean,
maybe you can get a guy likeLuke McCaffrey, a Javon Baker. There's
plenty of talent there as well. But I do think you could go maybe
Joe Alt at seven and maybe amaybe not a Dallas Turner, but maybe
(31:57):
Chris braswell. Get the other side, Chris braswell, and then you go
receiver in the fourth. I thinkthat that's definitely an option, but we've
alluded to it a couple times onTwitter. Now. This linebacker class is
very, very shallow, dude. There's a big four and then a drop
off and that's probably the most glaringhole on this team outside of tackle probably,
(32:24):
so that does square me as well, because there's not a lot I
like, there not a lot alike, at least at least with the need
at tackle. You can say Oh, don't sweat it, guys. It's
a great tackle class. We gotthe seventh overall pick. We'll get it
sorted out one way or the other. No big deal with the linebacker position.
(32:46):
They let the market dry up alittle bit and they're going into the
draft with I think the linebackers areprobably the weakest position group in this entire
draft, and I think it's abad spot to be in if you need
a guy that is going to requireyou because, like we've said several times
(33:08):
on this show, right now, they don't have a third round pick.
If they could pick up a thirdround pick, gravy, no big deal.
But if you want to get adifference maker, like I don't know
which order you have him in,but I think Peyton Wilson, Edrin Cooper
Junior, Colson, and Jeremiah TrotterJunior are my top four anyway. And
(33:30):
if you're going to get one ofthose guys that can start for you as
a rookie, and still I don'tknow what type of quality they're going to
be as a starter as a rookie, But if you're going to have to
get one of those guys you wouldprobably have to take, you would have
probably have to use the thirty eighthoverall pick. And that's just man,
that feels like you got your handstied behind your back and you know the
(33:52):
Rock is swinging a steel chair atyou and your mankind at the Royal Rumble
nineteen ninety nine. You know,I quit. I quit. Quit.
Just a bad spot to be inif you're the Titans. But I don't
know, man, I'm willing tobe uh. I can be open to
being wrong about this linebacker class,But how do you how do you see
(34:14):
this group? And is there isthere any in the bunch that you would
feel comfortable taking with thirty eighth overallpick? Honestly, Inside linebacker not a
premium position, which is good forus because that's where we're lacking right now.
But I have third round grades acrossthe board and all four of these
guys, and I have the samefour slightly different order. I have at
(34:36):
Wilson, Coulson, Trotter, andthen Cooper. But I'm not reaching taking
I'm best player available more often thannot, and I'm not I'm not taking
any of these guys at thirty eight. If I did, and I had
to talk myself into one of them, it's gonna be Peyton Wilson just because
of the athlete that he is.I mean, fastest tracked linebacker this past
(34:58):
college season and then also the fastesttrack at the senior ball twenty two point
some odd miles per hour. Imean, he's a very gifted athlete,
seems to be a leader as welland has great link for past coverage.
But then he got Junior Colson, who's just a leader of men. As
far as that Michigan defense goes.Jeremiah Trotter maybe not the most gifted athlete,
(35:22):
but is in the right place atthe right time. Yeah, and
can definitely definitely get Ezrian Cooper.Very interesting tape. He's a misshole one.
He knows where he's going. Yeah, does he know where he's going?
I mean to me, I watchedhis tape and I thought, this
is Kenneth Murray exactly. This isKenneth Murray right here. And I told
(35:46):
Zach I texted him the other daywhen I was watching watching his tape,
I'm like, this guy is likethe cardio champ. He just runs all
over the field, but legend's greathalf the time. Half the time,
It's like he he gets kind ofcrossed up tracking the ball carrier and ends
up running the wrong direction and thenhaving to come back and overcorrect to get
(36:07):
across the field to actually get tothe ball carrier. And there are times
when it just seems like he's driftingon the field a little bit, like
just kind of running in circles. And the thing about him is that,
yeah, like you said, likewhen he gets his mind, when he
has his sights on the target,I mean, he can crash the play.
And he's he's a willing hitter,and he's got the traits, he's
(36:29):
got the physical athletic tools that ittakes to succeed. And I think if
you're taking him, you're kind oftaking the traits and hoping you can mold
him into an actual, more wellrounded, complete linebacker. He's a guy
that I don't get where the firstround love is coming from at all from
watching him. But Daniel Jeremiah, yeahs for me. Daniel Jeremiah has him
(36:57):
listed in the twenties on his BigBoy somewhere, and and I don't I
don't get it. So I don'tknow, is there anybody you mentioned it
earlier? Once you get through thosefour man there's there's a drop, But
is there anybody from from that nextgroup of linebackers that you would be willing
to take a flyer on day threeand say this is a guy that we
(37:21):
can develop into a quality starter atone point. So personally, I've got
love for Trevin Wallace out of Kentucky, little bowling ball of a man,
and another Bruce Felsman freakless guy.I uh. I think he has a
lot of the traits that you're lookingfor, but still still a little ball
of clay. I mean, anothersenior Bowl standout. You could go maybe
(37:44):
Cedric Gray had a good senior Bowlgame, but still a very low level
starter. I mean after that, you're you're looking late in the draft.
Maybe maybe you can get Intothaniel Watsonat Mississippi State, not a great athlete,
second UH team All acc last season. Or maybe like a Michael Barrett
at of Michigan. I mean, guy's got a great story as far as
(38:08):
growing up and has definitely earned whathe has. I wouldn't mind taking him
fifth, sixth round. I thinkit's a guy that you can get in
there early in his NFL career andhe won't make a lot of mistakes.
The upside just isn't there in myopinion, though, Yeah, what would
you rather have from a player likethat? Would you rather have a guy
that has the physical traits that youcan teach to play linebacker or would you
(38:32):
rather have the guy that knows theposition but maybe a little limited athletically.
As far as where this team isbuilt now, I'm going with the more
cerebral player, yep, just becauseyou got kn't get Murray next to him.
But if if it was the opposite, I mean, I'd probably go
the opposite. I'm going the athlete. If I'm if if this was Apple's
(38:53):
daft pulls, who do you likebetter? I'm I'm swinging for the fences.
But we've we've got that swing rightnow in Kenneth Murry. So you
got you got to have somebody thatcan come in there and tell Kenneth where
to go, so that that's kindof where I see it. Yeah,
I'm I'm with you wholeheartedly. Ineed to watch this kid out of Temple,
Jordan McGee, because I keep hearinghim. He's his name, his
(39:16):
name is red Hot in the groupchat and uh I I watched him back
in the fall. There's one Fridaynight that my wife had something for work,
so I was just at the houseby myself, and I saw Jim
Naggy tweet we got Senior Bowl scoutsat I think it was SMU s m
U Temple uh for for Jordan McGee. This this kid's looking pretty good.
(39:39):
And so I just sat down andwatched the game. I didn't have anything
else to do. And for fromwhat you can tell watching a game broadcast,
I thought, yeah, this thiskid's pretty good. And then he
never got the invite to the SeniorBowl. So I don't know, I
don't know what happened there. Theywere sniffing around put him on my radar,
and then when he didn't get thecall, I mean, and you
(40:00):
know how it goes, Like someof these guys that are way on down
the big board, it takes sometime to get around to him, and
I just haven't gotten there yet.But it sounds like he's got some traits
that kind of line up with whatthe coaches on Brian Callahan's staff have historically
worked with or brought in. Somaybe a guy to put on the radar.
(40:20):
But again, like man, it'sit feels like this team's kind of
down bad when you and I aresitting here talking like maybe they can get
a Day three guy and turn himinto a starter. Yeah, like that's
part of the reason. Go ahead. Sorry, No, I was gonna
say, it's just a bad placeto be. And I mean, at
the end of the day, thisrun defense may not be the best,
but we're gonna compensate with that inthe run game or in the past game
(40:45):
on defense, which leads me tobelieve. I mean, I don't think
I see a realistic possibility where thisteam can go into Houston or Jacksonville next
year and steal a win. Indianapolismight be the one that scares me the
most right now. Yeah got ayou got you got this running game,
they got a good offensive line. Can they just run us off the ball?
(41:06):
And that's something that Innieappolis might bethe dark horse right now. And
I think it's pretty clearly Houston andthen US or Indy and then maybe Jacksonville
might be down there in the wholeright now. I mean, that's kind
of how we just see it playingout. But I was thinking about that
earlier. I was like, man, Indy kind of scares me right now,
and the draft could change that. We'll see how it all places that.
(41:28):
But yeah, I like I likeAnthony Richardson. I was a big
fan of his scouting him last year. I really liked what he was able
to do in a limited window beforethe injury. I don't think he is
as far away as people wanted to, you know, as as Balls fans
wanted to say he was. Ihad him over Will Levis, I had
him, I had him to Cooker, I had him over c J.
(41:52):
Stroud. That's how high I was. I was really low on CJ.
Stroud though, don't tell anybody Ihad him like QB four QB. But
we accept our losses where we takehim, and I'll take that one.
I'll take that l that's right. That's right, hand up on that one.
So as far as the Titans gospecifically for this organization right now,
(42:15):
who are some of your guys thatif you were in the room with Ran
Carthon and Brian Callahan, maybe notat seventh overall, but who would you
be pounding the table for to getin that two tone blue next season.
So I think we can look atmaybe a pick at thirty eight, Maybe
we look at a fourth rounder atthirty eight. I really like Jalen Polk
(42:36):
out of Washington. Okay, guythat consensus. I mean he's a third
round pick. I think he mayhave came out a year too early,
and he's kind of overshadowed by aDunday of course, but I think maybe
strongest hands in this draft, naturalhand at catcher, and that is that's
the secret to my heart, isif you catch with your hands naturally,
(42:58):
and he does a great control outof this world. But overall, I
think you're getting a year in onhim early and you'll get the rewards down
the line. You might take sometime to develop into a premiere receiver,
but I see that potential, andespecially in this vertical scheme that Callahan's bringing
in. And then maybe the fourthrounder, there's a guy out of Houston.
(43:22):
I've seen you talk about him aswell, and that's Nelson Caesar out
of there. Yeah, guys kindof talked about. Is this fifth sixth
round pick. I'd take him asearly as the fourth and seeing those Houston
baby blue jerseys or it looks sogood and it's oh man, but great,
(43:42):
great size, great great speed topower, always shows good bend and
that's those are traits that you're lookingfor. And then mos An effort Man
the trick with those Houston guys too, because David, oh god, I
can't his last name Uogbu. Ithink, I don't know, I don't
know. I'm probably butchering it.But both of those guys they shared the
(44:07):
same spot and they would alternate betweenmiddle linebacker and an edge rusher. And
so if you take one of theseguys from the University of Houston, which
I like, Nelson Caesar two,I think he's got a main crossover to
where like he can line up wideand just cross inside the tackle like he
is. He's got some traits,he's got some relentless feet. But these
(44:30):
guys have experience playing middle linebacker too, so there may be a little outside
the box option there to get youa little bit of help at at two
positions. There. I'm really highon Nelson Caesar as well. He's got
to add a couple more back tohis bags as far as est rush moves
go. But the big traits thatI'm looking for there, what he needs
(44:53):
to get better at is teachable.Yeah, So that's why I'm super high
on him. And then I mean, we already talked about fashion that was
my other guy on here, butI mean ran Carthon is also shown he's
not afraid to take a running back, maybe earlier than he's thought. And
we got we got spears, wegot pollared. Guy I'm super high on,
(45:15):
and this is one of my guysis Tyrone Tracy at a Purdue.
He was former Iowa receiver, testedgreat measurably at the combine, and this
guy has the ability to still progressat the running back position. He's great,
great catcher out of the backfield,of course, and is learning his
(45:35):
way in pass pro. But thedude learns he knows how to naturally find
the open field and that's something Ilove. And then as ran Carthon builds
up this running back room, we'regonna see it look more and more like
San Francisco's I think. And you'vegotta have at least three is what he's
kind of gonna get to. SoI think we are probably gonna draft a
(45:55):
running back in this this draft, and this is a guy I wouldn't mind
taking in the fourth round, butI think you can get him later as
well. Yeah, I think, man, after the combine, everybody kind
of freaked out over Isaac Garrindo. It's like everybody learned who Isaac Grindo was
that weekend, and he's great physicalrunner, good acceleration in the open field.
(46:20):
But I think the way the wayhe tested and people playing catchup going
back to watch the tape, Ithink he's going to go a lot earlier
then people project as a Day threeguy, Like I don't know. I
think he's going to be a hotname that rises throughout the process. But
to me, I watched Tyrone Tracyand I see a lot of similar qualities
(46:42):
and I don't think he's going togo Day two or anything like that.
I think this is a Day threeguy that you can probably get pretty late
into the afternoon on Day three thathas a lot of those similar characteristics.
I saw him for the first timeat the Hula Bowl, and yeah,
he was just like between the tackleswas just like I swear, it's like
(47:04):
he would take a step into theground and the ground would shake around him,
like he's that hard of a runner. And so to have that kind
of power aspect to a pretty wellrounded game. Is his history as a
wide receiver, Like, I thinkhe's a really versatile prospect that can come
in and do a lot of thethings that Grindo can do as well.
So I think people are sleeping onhim a little bit. I think they
(47:28):
run like they bite people, Ithink. And as far as like relative
athletics scores, most similar prospect comingout to Taj Spears, and I think
there's a similar running style to that. So yeah, maybe he doesn't end
up the time, but it's aguy still to watch in the draft because
I think he is going to bea great NFL running back. Yep,
I'm with you. Is that?Uh? Is that it? Or do
(47:51):
you have any any more you wannayou want to toss out there? I
mean, if we want to stayon the opposite side the ball, we
can go with a Brendan Rice orLuke McCaffery. We allude to him earlier.
I'm pretty high on Brendan Rice.Maybe just like the Nashville and Nepo
babies, Jaffery and Brendan Rice andCallahan and just goes like a hand in
the pod. Yeah, Berndan Ricegreat size. Wasn't asked to do a
(48:15):
whole lot at USC with Caleb Williamsand a lot of the times they were
operating off platform out of out ofthe scheme of the program. But I
think he can transition more into aunderneath receiver not just a vertical player.
And we saw a lot of thatat the Senior Bowl. There was a
(48:36):
lot of times where he matched upagainst a Cam Hard or a Kyrie Jackson
out of Oregon and burnt him ona zip route or a slant route.
He does need to learn how tooperate through press, but the physicality after
the catch, that's there, andit's hard looking at him and his dad
(48:57):
and going that guy can be anNFL star. Yeah, it's definitely there.
And I think he has a goodhead on his shoulders and as far
as like working through press coverage andstuff like that, and if he can
learn to being all OPI savant likeDeAndre Hopkins, best to learn from DeAndre
Hopkins in my opinion, Hey,no kidding man. You mentioned liking receivers
(49:19):
that catch naturally with their hands, and Brendan Rice was He had a couple
of catches that week of the SeniorBowl that were way outside of his frame
that he just kind of reached out, go go gadget arms and just plucked
the ball out of the sky. That I took note of, like,
whoa this is. This is aguy that can catch the ball. This
is a guy that can play receiverout there, and the most frustrating thing
(49:42):
is seeing those And at the sametime, same weekend, he had some
bad drops too. Yeah. Yeah, he gets wide open to the end
zone, it just drops it.So I think those are things that maybe
was just the pressure of it allbeing out there in front of all these
scouts. I think he can cleanthat up and he as a pro.
I don't think he's gonna come outday one and be just a star,
but this is a guy that Ithink can develop into a great receiver.
(50:08):
What do you like about Luke McCaffrey. What has you so high on him?
I love his last name, andthat's just about it. No,
obviously he was at was a Louisvilleas a quarterback and obviously didn't win that
job and transferred over to Rice andswitched over to receiver, and I mean
(50:30):
he's his brother. You see verysimilar things there and after the catch,
he runs very well, again,a very natural pass catcher, and he's
still learning to run a full routetree and that's something he's only going to
get better from here. So whenI look at any player in this draft,
I'm like, that guy should berated higher because there's no way he's
(50:52):
not going to be successful. It'shim. We see him going the fourth
round, fifth round on the mockdraft simulators and stuff like that. I
don't mind taking him in the thirdround if he was there, if I
was a team, just because Iknow he's gonna find a way to be
successful. And I think he couldoffer something in the return game as well.
He can be your punt returner,he can be your kick returner.
(51:12):
I don't mind that. So he'sgot versatility to his game as well.
I liked him a lot from thetape that I watched for all the reasons
that you said, And my biggestquestion I got to the end of it
is like watching him against Conference USAdefenses, It's like, is he is
he really that fast or is itjust a level of competition thing where you
(51:36):
know, maybe he doesn't have toreally throttle down to get to top speed
to beat some of these guys. There were a lot of plays that he
made that were underneath wide open stuffthat you know he would catch the ball
and there might not be a defenderwithin five feet of him kind of deal.
And so I'm watching him like okay, what is I want to see
(51:57):
him test? And then he gotto mobile and they clocked him at twenty
one miles per hour in one ofthe practices and I was like, okay,
we have checked that box. I'monto the next one. So he's
just got that running style where hejust kind of glides across the field.
He never looks super fast. It'salmost that Aman Ross speed. He never
looks like he's going a million milesan hour, but he is. I
(52:19):
mean, he ran faster than Christianat combine and ten yards split and the
forty. So I think athletically thatchecked a lot of boxes for a lot
of teams. And you know he'sgoing to kill the interviews. Yeah,
so I think he's going to bea late riser for a lot of teams.
So two more questions for you andthen i'll give your evening back.
(52:42):
Who is a player that you arelower on than the consensus? Right now,
I'll give you a couple of them. So, first off, as
an Oklahoma fan, it hurts meto say, but it's Tyler Guiden mean,
Tyler Goiden consensus first round pick.Maybe right now, maybe early second
I have him down at eighty twoon my draft board as a mid third
(53:05):
round pick. This is a guy, uber athlete, great great prospect on
an athletics side, but a messand pass pro in my opinion, and
really struggled even with his size andstrength and gap scheme based runs this last
season, so he can fill intohis zone based scheme only in my opinion
(53:25):
of the next level. And asfar as just learning and coming along,
he played under Bill beidenbow Over atOklahoma, who I regard as one of
the best offensive line coaches in college, and he didn't get a lot out
of him, So that really worriesme what how much he'll progress at the
(53:45):
next level. So that's a guythat I see as a long term project.
Seemed kind of similar to what Isaw out of Jalen Duncan coming out
of last season. So that's onethat I think everybody's just a little bit
too high on. And then anotherone that's gonna maybe he irks some Tights
fans. That's his exagerleg it outof South Carolina. Yeah, I mean,
(54:05):
chiseled Greek god runs like a Clydesdalegive him that, But he runs
three routes. I mean, he'sgonna run a slam for he's gonna run
a go, and he's gonna runa dig and that's it. He runs
the DK metcalf rowt tree, buthe's nearly three inches shorter and he's a
lot smaller, so it's hard torun those as a smaller prospect. And
he didn't even he tested very well. He didn't test what he was promised
(54:29):
to do at the combine. Andhe he's not a he's not a handsketcher.
He has the ability to do it, but he's a natural body catcher,
and that that does also scare mein my opinion. He's trailing burks
without asthma. He's jacked up trailingburks and that that certainly scares me.
At the next level for sure.So he's talked about as an early second
(54:53):
round pick. He's in that topthat next tier of receivers, maybe after
a Brian Thomas with the eighty chillsas Xavier weavers out all those groups.
I see him quite a bit lowerthan that. He's been a puzzling he's
been a puzzling evaluation man. He'svery interesting. I feel like you can
watch him and you can see theflashes of what people people mean when they
(55:17):
say, oh, he's a JBrown stylistically like, yeah, there are
those flashes. But then I don'tknow, man, I felt like for
him to I watched the Clemson gameand for him to be this like,
like you said, like chiseled Greekgod, this tough body that can climb
the ladder at the point of thecatch and pluck it out of the sky
(55:40):
going up against Nate Wiggins, whois you know, like, I think
my left leg weighs as much asNate one hundred and seventy Yeah, one
hundred and seventy is pounds. Therewere times that I felt like Nate Wiggins
was really getting into his frame anddisrupting him at the at the point of
his break, at the point ofthe catch, and I'm like this,
like little speedster scrappy corner is justlike pushing you around. I don't I
(56:05):
don't think that's very good. Andthen the Senior Bowl was the same thing.
Man. He would have flashes duringpractice where you're like, oh,
the first day, yeah, Andthen there are other times that he's walking
off the field hanging his head andMichael Pratt has to come over and give
him a pep talk so that hecan, you know, get back out
there. So I don't know.To me, I'm I'm kind of in
(56:27):
the in the same camp as youon leget that. I don't know if
you can, if you have theluxury, if you can just wait and
see what he develops into. SoI think I'm I'm leaning past there.
My guy would be Jared Verse.I don't know how much of him you've
won, but very man. Iwas thinking about it earlier today, I'm
(56:52):
going I have Chop Robinson as asedge one, which I know is a
hot take in its own right, but I'm going, I'm very close to
moving Jared versus above Chop. Igreat speed to power move. Ye.
I've watched four games and I seethe traits that everybody is talking about.
But I'm like, I just don'tfeel like he wins enough reps. Like
(57:14):
at a very basic level, I'mjust like, how many games, how
many plays? Is he really afactor on? So what are you so
high on with Verse? With Verse? So I think it's just the production.
First off, My biggest concern wasfor him was athletic testing. Yeah,
(57:36):
I mean, I think he's gota bag of pass rush moves,
probably second best in this class undermaybe somebody like a lot to but he's
a much better athlete. So asfar as these big three four pass rushers
go, I think he's probably thesafest out of all of them, and
he can contribute and the wrong He'sgonna be out there in all three downs.
(57:58):
My biggest concern with somebody like aDallas Turner is he's still got to
learn how to anchor in the rungame and understand that side of thing.
Jared vers has that down from dayone, so I'm very close and I
have a very high first round picka great on him, so I wouldn't
if we're going edge at seven,I think Jared Versus the play over a
(58:23):
Dallas Turner in my opinion, Ohboy, I just felt my heart flitter
just a little bit. Man.We're gonna let's let's have that conversation,
Jake. Let's talk about Dallas Turnerversus Jared Verse at seventh overall and just
completely flip Titan's Twitter upside down.I mean, I think we could do
a podcast for an hour on thatalone and it would get the views one
(58:45):
hundred percent. Nobody would agree withus, No, but the views would
be their clickbait for sure. It'dbe hate watching. Everybody would be hate
watching. Yeah. So conversely, then, who's a guy that you're maybe
higher on than you think the consensusis right now, there's a couple of
different ways we could go. ElijahJones, cornerback out of Boston College.
(59:09):
That's a guy that I love.I love his tape. As far as
just a pure manned corner, Ithink he might be the best in the
draft. He doesn't get a lotof reps in press, but when he
is impressed, it seems to begood. He plays a lot of off
coverage and as far as like ballproduction, I think that's there and tested
(59:30):
better athletically than I thought he wouldhave, which I mean, if you
get him in the fourth round, heck yeah, If you get a third
round back, heck yeah, I'dbe happy with that. Maybe we go
a little bit later in the draft, Trey Taylor out of Air Force,
(59:51):
consider maybe the best safety based onaward season goes and he's going to be
a pure leader. I camped himsimilarly to like a Kevin Byern. Athletically
not the best. I looked atthe consensus rankings before this show, and
I was like, I want tosee where I have him, and in
comparison consensus that I found had himranked three h three, so he's considered
(01:00:15):
an undrafted free agent. I havehim as a fourth round grade. So
we're looking at one of those seventhround picks in the end, maybe maybe
the one we got from Kansas City. If you can get him there,
I think it's a very good lockerroom ad. He's going to contribute on
special teams, and I see theupside of him coming in and being a
(01:00:37):
rotational starter for you as well. But that's a dude, I'm super high
on on this safety class. Ifeel like I love him, man.
He's a rangy ballhawking kind of kindof safety. I'm with you, like,
if you could get him with oneof those seventh round picks, that's
(01:00:57):
that's icing on the cake. I'mI'm going to the University of Kansas for
my guy, because I have Ijust realized this, because I just I
just took a look at my bigboard and I've got Dominic Pooney at thirty
eighth over Oh yeah on my board. I did not realize I had him
that high, But I think Heis a kind of like we were talking
(01:01:19):
about with Lagett, He's a reallycomplicated eval and I think that stems from
the offense that he played in atKansas. There were listen, they would
line up and run the ball outof several different formations, triple option,
all kinds of crazy stuff, butlike they're running the ball. They're just
(01:01:42):
running the ball. No matter whatit looks like, the Kansas Jayhawks are
going to run the ball. Soit kind of it kind of made it
hard that offense is a little funkywith the formations. Like some plays they
have like three offensive linemen out bythe numbers and a couple in the middle,
and then they switch things up beforethe snap and it's just all this
like crazy shit that you just don'tsee in the NFL, and it kind
(01:02:05):
of muddies up his evaluation a littlebit. So he's still a guy that
played left tackle at Kansas. Ithink he's got great length. I think
his frame is probably a little morenarrow than you would like out of an
offensive tackle. But the guy hasnever allowed to sack his entire career,
even down to like the high schoollevel, He's not allowed to sack wherever
(01:02:29):
he's played, played a lot ofleft tackle, gets to the Senior Bowl,
they kick him inside. He's gettingmost of his reps at guard,
but then they slot him in atcenter and they have him start snapping the
ball. And that was when thelight bulb really went off for me that
I was like, wait, thisguy's got something. I mean, he
(01:02:50):
plays with a mean streak, heplays with inside hands, controlling the rusher
by the shoulders, the core, that sort of thing. But then clean
snaps at the Senior Bowl, he'stracking motion. Stunt's coming around towards him,
and he's mirroring them adequately, AndI start thinking like, this is
a guy that can play anywhere youput him. I don't know if you're
(01:03:15):
going to feel comfortable putting him attackle in the NFL, but I think
he's got a very valuable skill setfor a team that just needs offensive linemen.
I don't know how the addition ofLloyd Cushion Berry affects his prospects with
the Titans. I probably I don'tthink he's going to be you know,
(01:03:36):
they don't need a left guard,they don't need a center now, and
I don't know what his future lookslike at left tackle in the NFL,
so it probably takes him off theTitans board. But I think he's a
guy that can play at the nextlevel. And I started out not so
high on him, and now hereI am like, this is one of
the best overall offensive linemen in thedraft class. Have you gotten a chance
to watch him at all? Ihave, and I really like his tape,
(01:03:58):
and I mean he's kind of inthat same role or that same mold
as like a Graham Barton at aduke. So he's going to just do
it all. But the Titans obviouslybring in Steve Fuchs as the offensive lineman
assistant with Callahan, who coming fromKansas is going to have that insight and
know what he's gonna do best, and he's going to tell that to Ran
of course. So that's a dudethat you can bring in and can be
(01:04:21):
that sixth lineman anywhere. I mean, he's kind of he can be that
Daniel brun skill for you. Hecan place him, he can play guard,
he can play tackle. And weknow this team, even with all
the acquisitions we've made, is verytop abby. You lose somebody to injury,
this thing could go downhill very quickly, so we need to start acquiring
(01:04:42):
depth, and Dominic Puney is agreat, great depth piece with starter potential
in my opinion. I really likedwhat I saw there and I think he
can play tackle. I liked whatI saw there and when they kicked him
into guard. I mean I obviouslywasn't there at the senior Bolt, but
just checking out what they're I thinkhe fits better at tackle than he does
(01:05:03):
on the inside. Didn't get tosee the snaps at center, but I'll
take your word for it. AndI after watching Aaron Brewer for these last
couple of seasons, I need somebodythat can fill in there and at least
be over three hundred pounds and dommcpuny can do that all right. Kansas
Jayhawks offensive lineman is a great placeto call it a pod, Jake,
(01:05:26):
