From sobers HQ in Nashville, Tennesseeto wherever you're cheering on your Tennessee Titans.
The Sobers Network presents the Unofficial Titanspodcast. No Sleep Till Detroit rolls

(00:35):
on here on the Unofficial Titans Podcast, It's your Boy, Big Natural Stony
Keeley. We are t minus sixdays, six days until the first round
of the twenty twenty four NFL Draft. Somehow we still have our minds right
and our asses tight. On thisshow, we're gonna be talking a little
bit about where things stand, howI'm feeling about a week out from the

(01:00):
NFL Draft. Originally scheduled to haveOwen on the line with me, but
you know, sometimes sometimes things justdon't work out, guys. And I
got a text earlier from Owen todaythat just said, quoting Limp Biscuit,
it's just one of those days. And I said, hey, man,
you don't worry about it, Okay, you take care of yourself, You
do what you gotta do, andthen we'll get back on it next week.

(01:23):
But since I had already put outa call for questions this morning,
you guys do a fantastic job ofwriting our show for us, and I
got twelve questions to get through, and I thought, you know what,
I'm not going to cancel the showaltogether. I'm at least going to get
on the microphone and answer the questions. And then I got to get out

(01:46):
of here. It's Friday afternoon whenI'm recording this. I've got to be
in Clarksville for a comedy show lateron tonight, and my wife just hit
me up and was like, Hey, I need you here an hour earlier
than I originally told you. Sonow I'm like, well, shit,
I gotta get work done today.I gotta get this show out. I
got to hop in a lift,I gotta get to Clarksville. Things are

(02:07):
crazy right now. It's the lifeof the life of Stony Keeley in a
nutshell right there. But before Iget to the questions, I did want
to take a moment to thank youguys for reaching out the kind words regarding
the twenty twenty four NFL Draft Guidethat has been released as of this morning

(02:27):
over on Stacking the inbox dot comthree hundred and thirteen pages, two hundred
and seventy five prospects. You've gotdetailed breakdowns of each prospect that I wrote
about and you've got the Titans fitratings that Zach came up with you.
You can look page for page ateach of these prospects and based on on

(02:50):
the field trades, athletic trades, physical traits, all that stuff, you
get a metric of how well eachof these prospects would fit with the Tennessee
Titans. Some great work went intothis thing, of course, I've got
everything broken down by position. There'srankings. I've got them ranked one through
two seventy five in this thing, along with the list of some of my
favorite tape that I watched this cycle. My hidden Gem's class. It's a

(03:14):
it's a girthy piece, if youknow what I'm saying. That's what she
said. It's a girthy piece. And five dollars a month will get you
accent access all you got to likethat alone we've had I'm gonna read some
quotes here real quick. This aloneis worth the price of an annual subscription.
An annual subscription to Stacking the Inboxfive dollars. Five dollars for a

(03:38):
month's access. You get a looklook at the draft guide. You can
poke around on Stacking the Inbox.Man, you can't beat it. I
swear somebody. Tyler on Twitter saidthat this thing was better than Dane Burglar's
The Beast, And I don't believeTyler for one minute because Dane Burglar's The
Beast is the gold standard in draftmedia. And I feel like I would

(04:00):
go batshit insane if I said ifI actually thought that what we did was
better than Dane Brugler. But Iwill at least concede that I do think
it's a little more digestible, whichis something that Zach and Tyler both echoed
on this Twitter thread. So fivebucks, five bucks? What can you
hurt? What can you hurt? That's right, Sorry, guys, my

(04:23):
brain's fucking mush. It's fucking mushright now. I'm just trying to just
trying to get through the next sevendays. We've got some crazy stuff planned
for you guys. I will beat the four forty Sports Draft parties Friday,
Thursday and Friday night. The costof tickets goes directly to benefit our

(04:44):
kids Tennessee. All of that infois up on my Twitter. Buy a
ticket for Thursday night, buy aticket for Friday night. It's going to
be a good time. And thenon Saturday, Zach and I we're going.
We're going for the full, thefull mad Man finish. We are
gonna be on for the entirety ofDay three's draft coverage. I'm bringing back
the footbottle. I'm gonna pour poursome gin in that thing and we're gonna

(05:08):
drink and we're gonna watch watch football, watch the draft all day. It
sounds like Easton and JT are gonnajoin us. I think Easton has has
committed. I don't know that JT'sfully in on this just yet. I
don't know if they know what they'regetting into. We did this last year
and it was a ton of fun, So we're gonna we're gonna bring it
back yet again for this year. It's an exciting time. If you guys

(05:30):
can't tell. I love the NFLDraft, And over the last three or
four years or so, I've reallystarted getting into it, digging into the
weeds, learning more about the processes, what matters, which stats mean more
for this position versus that position,so on and so forth. And for
me, this is like my WrestleMania. It's like my super Bowl. And

(05:54):
uh, I appreciate you guys forshowing support and for being along for the
ride. As for what I thinkthe Titans are going to do next week,
I don't know. Like I'm I'mhearing a little bit of everything here,
and they want to trade back,I'm here and they're gonna take Joe
Walt. I'm here and they're gonnatake my league Neighbors. All this stuff
coming from all these these different directions. I think if I had to guess

(06:16):
a matter of preference, I kindof feel like trading back would be the
option if they can find a suitor, which they will definitely be helped out
if one of these quarterbacks starts toslide just a little bit, Like if
the quarterbacks don't go one, two, three, four like some people think
they will, I think it benefitsthe Titans if they stick and pick at

(06:39):
seven. I'm not gonna be mad. Like this whole time, I've said
Joe Walt's the guy. I'm notgonna be mad if they picked Joe Walt.
I'll see the reasoning behind picking upMalik Neighbors. Even though I'm personally
team Adoonzay, I get it.Even there's a scenario where they take Dallas
Turner at seven. Every time Isay that, I get hate mail,
y'all. Tell me to get thefuck off the internet, put my phone

(07:02):
down for the afternoon, close mylaptop. Whatever. Even though there's a
perfectly fine scenario where it pans outand they check all their boxes, get
all their needs, and have agreat draft class. But never mind,
never mind, old Stony just spoutinginsanity, old man sitting in his rocking
chair on the front porch. ButI'm excited about the event. I am

(07:25):
going to get through your listener questionstoday and then I gotta go dry my
hair, and then I gotta hopin a lift and get downtown to meet
my wife because we're going to Clarkstonaldtonight. All right, Owen and I
are recording this morning. Send usyour Titans questions. Okay, this is
the right tweet, the right threadthat I have pulled up. Let's start
with Austin Huff's question, which,by the way, your boy uncle Stony

(07:49):
Keeley. On this week's episode ofthe Tighten Up Podcast with Austin and Jack
Gentry. Their show is fantastic. It's a barrel of fun. You know,
I've never listened to an episode andnot laugh my ass off, And
to me, that is the markof a quality, quality, put together
show. You can have some fun, you can have a good time,

(08:11):
and you can you can hear animpassioned discussion about the team that you love.
It's the Tighten Up Podcast, andI was on talking about the draft
comparing draft prospects to Nashville restaurants. So go listen to that one wherever you
take in your shows. We hada ton of fun with that. Austin
asked why are Titans backup quarterbacks alwaysso hot aside from Rusty Smith? Of

(08:33):
course, no offense. Well,I told Austin, I'm glad he said
no offense because I'm sure Rusty Smithis probably listening to this right now and
he's thinking, damn, I'm catchingstrays all these years later, all these
years later, and I'm still catchingstrays. But to answer your question,
Austin, I think it is aprerequisite. I think it is, you

(08:54):
know, partly a branding thing. You know, we're gonna put our ten
foil hats on for a second.I think Amy Adams Strunk is in the
building and she's like, we gotto sell something on this team because it's
been meeting potatoes for twenty years. We got to have some aspect of our
team. Nashville is a sexy city. We got to have some aspect of

(09:15):
our team that is sexy. Andwhat's the one position that rarely sees the
field? You never have to worryabout him getting hurt. You put him
out there and you can say thisis our sex symbol. Well, it's
the backup quarterback. Who is thehottest backup quarterback in Titan's history? I
would say it's probably Charlie Whitehurst,though I will say and y'all, y'all

(09:41):
might read me for this one.But if they can land Sam Hartman in
this draft class, maybe not spenda draft pick on him. But I
don't know that Sam Hartman's going toget drafted. So if you bring him
to camp to develop behind Mason Rudolphwith Will Levis, is this the hottest
co in the entire NFL? Peopleare asking Thanks for the question, Austin.

(10:05):
Go listen to the Titan Up podcastwherever you take in your show shows
Canadian Titan Our guy Ethan chimes in, what would make this upcoming draft a
failure in your eyes? Now,this is a great question, because I
think there really is some meat onthe bone for this one, I would

(10:26):
say if they don't, if theydon't come out of day two. So
if we wake up Saturday morning andthey don't have the left tackle question answered,
I think the team could be introuble. I have been touting how
deep this tackle class is for quitesome time, but in this mock draft

(10:54):
exercise that Zach and Mike and Idid on this week's episode of Football and
Other f Words, going through thescenarios, I actually realized that there is
there is a pretty big canyon betweenthe guys that will start Week one and

(11:16):
the guys who are developmental dart throws. Just because this class is like twenty
deep with guys that could play inthe NFL does not mean, in my
opinion, that there are more thanfive or six that are going to play
right away. And so there wasa scenario in the draft where in this

(11:39):
mock draft episode that we did thatI passed on an offensive tackle in round
one. I didn't like the valuein round two, and so we get
to round four and then suddenly there'snobody there. Like I'm picking between Matt
Goncalvez, I think is how youpronounce it and like Delmar Glaze that you

(12:00):
want to be in in the fourthround looking for your your top tackle.
So it kind of did make methink, Okay, if they don't go
get one of these Joe Walt,Olu Fashionu, j C. Latham's in
the first round, and then there'sno Patrick, Paul Kingsley, Sue Mattea,
Jordan Morgan, any of these guysthat could play that could theoretically play

(12:22):
left tackle, and there's there's abig drop off, and you're talking about
a situation where the Titans would haveLeroy Watson Jalen Duncan to compete for that
job, even though Brian Callahan hasalready said it looks like Jalen Duncan and
NPF on the right side. Youknow, I I kind of feel like,

(12:45):
I mean, you're you're stretching itpretty pretty thin at that point.
And maybe they do go sign AndrisPete and maybe he's the guy. But
if you don't get him and youdon't get this left tackle problem solved early
in the draft, I think it'sgonna be an issue now. Lloyd Cushion
Berry is going to provide a boostfor this offensive line. I like the

(13:09):
depth at right tackle in this class. I think there's a chance in the
fourth round you could get a guylike Christian Jones. Maybe. Oh man,
now I'm blinking on all the righttackles deep in this class. I
feel more comfortable, is what I'mgetting at with the right tackles in this
class on day three than the lefttackles. You know, I'm still a

(13:30):
big fan of a guy like TravisGlover out of Georgia State, but it's
a lot of pressure. You know, offensive linemen their rookie seasons typically don't
go that well, and I don'tthink. I think he's definitely a guy
you want to get to camp todevelop with the future in mind. But
I don't know that the Titans havethe luxury to wait that long at this
point. So if they end upin a situation where they don't get the

(13:50):
left tackle box checked, could itcould spiral pretty quickly. And if you
don't address what I would consider isstill the biggest need of the team,
I think it's fair to wonder howthis team, what's the path for them
to really improve? Is it justget the ball out quickly? To Calvin
Ridley, I don't know, Idon't know, So I think if we're

(14:16):
sitting here next Sunday a week fromSunday, and we still don't know who
the left tackle is for this franchise. I'm gonna call that. I'm gonna
say, what the fuck are youguys doing? Well? What has happened
here? Jonathan m a reminder togo listen to the Morning Glory Show,

(14:37):
a Glory Day Sports YouTube channel,Jonathan, Jake and Bee Will putting out
fire every Thursday morning at seven o'clockCentral. Who's your favorite offensive lineman currently
on the roster that you like totake the biggest step forward under Bill Callahan.
This is gonna be a total copout, but I'm gonna say Peter
Scoronsky, Big Meat Pete, becauseBill Callahan has a pretty damn good track

(15:03):
record with guys that have talent. That's I think people are drinking the Bill
Callahan kool aid a little too much. He can't just take you know,
fucking Frank Crumb. Throw him inthere and he's going to be your starting
left tackle right away as a rookie. Now that I've said that, of
course Bill Callahan's going to do that. They're gonna draft Frank Crumb and he's
going to be an All pro asa rookie. Bill Callahan's noted success,

(15:28):
his track record, his history atthe position is that he makes great players,
elite players. Good to great ishow you can put it. So
I think with a rookie year underhis belt, gaining experience in comes Bill
Callahan. I think we're gonna seeScarronsky, who's already a pretty good looking

(15:54):
player, one of the franchise piecesthese guys already have in house. I
think he's gonna take the next step. Now, if you're looking at a
guy that he could develop, thatis raw, that isn't just the cop
out answer of Peter Skeronsky said itbefore. I'm not ready to burn the
ships on Jalen Duncan. I'm justnot. He's too talented. He's too

(16:18):
talented athletically gifted. I thought whenthey drafted him he had potential to kick
inside to play guard. I stillthink that, But I also said at
the time like he might kick overto right tackle, And it sounds like
right now, if training camp wereto start, we'd have a battle between
NPF and Jalen Duncan for that righttackle spot. I still see a future

(16:45):
for him. It's can you workout all the kinks from the neck up.
And this is where I could say, you know, that's what you
brought in Bill Callahan for, andthen I'm gonna drink the kool aid too,
and I'm just gonna annoy myself. But I do think that could potentially
work. Kenneth asked for me abest first two round haul and why Roma

(17:08):
Dunza and Patrick Paul or Joe Altand Darius Robinson. Oh, my voice
is given up on me. Okay, my bad, We're back guys,
Okay, I oh, man,See, this is where, like if
I just had unlimited lives, I'mtotally going Patrick Paul and Roma Dounza.

(17:29):
I think Roma Dunza is the bestplayer in this draft. And I think
Patrick Paul is a prospect that isbeing way overthought right now. I think
he's got the length, the size, the frame you look for. His
hands are massive, arms are long, He's athletic, he's a good pass
protector. I think he has thetraits under the tutelage of a Bill Callahan

(17:52):
to be one of those players thatgets to the next level. But man,
I for the safer floor, whichI think is what this team needs
right now, is they're like totallyrebuilding the roster with holes all over.
They need guys that can play, guys that have stable floors. And I
think Joe Alt solidifies your left tackleproblem. And I think Darius Robinson fills

(18:18):
the hole that Deniko Autrey left behind. I think that is the safer pick
between those two. Kenneth also asked, though one, you can only pick
one of these for the season, what do you want? Division title?
Will Levis All Pro season or thetwenty twenty four draft class is a home
run. I don't want to speakfor Owen. I don't know what he
would say. I want the divisiontitle. I want to win games.

(18:41):
I want to get to the playoffs, because if you get to the playoffs,
you never know what can happen. You never know what can happen.
So give me, give me theopportunity to give me the reps, give
me the chance to make a run. Chef Rinn, one has to go
right for the Titans to be perennialSuper Super Bowl contenders. I think you've

(19:03):
got to get the offensive line toa good enough point where Will Levis has
the space to operate the offense asthe foundation. Give Will Levis the chance
to operate the offense and make plays. What gives them the chance to be
perennial Super Bowl contenders is if willLevis develops into one of these top five

(19:25):
caliber quarterbacks in the NFL. Hefollows that one up with who was the
first pick of the very first draft? You remember following? As a kid?
I was kind of late into thedraft, you know. I was
like most kids. I played footballin the backyard and just kind of loosely
kept up with the game and rootedfor the Tennessee Oilers, And before the

(19:48):
Oilers came to town, I reallyliked the Atlanta Falcons because I thought they
had the coolest uniforms. So Ididn't really get the draft. I mean,
even up until it was two thousandand six. It was the Mario
Williams Reggie Bush draft that I canreally remember being the first time that I
really got into it, Like,oh man, this is actually pretty cool

(20:08):
to watch. Wraps up his tweetwith what will the twenty twenty four Titans'
greatest weakness be? Passing? Rushing, rush defense or pass defense? Oh
man, I I really don't know. I think there's a scenario if I

(20:33):
had to guess right now, Iwould say it would be run defense,
because I mean, they still haveJeffrey Simmons, Harold Landry arden Key.
They're gonna add some pieces, butand I think that is one area of
the game where Kenneth Murray could excelin. But I think they need some
depth. I think they need sometrue run stuffers. I think they need

(20:56):
to add some teeth to the passrush. I think the secondary is to
be pretty strong. I think they'regonna be able to run the ball with
playmakers like Pollard and Spears in thebackfield and theoretically improving the offensive line,
and I think the passing attack isgoing to be a lot better than it
was last year. The secondary,if I didn't say it completely retooled,

(21:18):
I think this is going to bea hard defense to throw on. Between
Dinard Wilson's scheme and the additions ofLagarious Need and Cheeto, I think I
would go with the run defense atthis point. And that's just by virtue
of bodies losing Deniko Autry and youknow, not not replacing him, not

(21:41):
adding any well. I mean, they added Sebastian Joseph Day and that's a
good addition, serviceable addition, ButI don't know. I really I don't
know. I would say the rundefense right now, Goodie chimes in for
the final time this draft cycle. All Fashnu or the field. I am

(22:03):
still at all right now, butI won't be surprised if the field is
the answer that the Titans give usnext week. Daniel ass two scenarios.
The Titans go three and fourteen thisseason? How did our offseason move shake
out? And how did this draftgo? That's the scenario I talked about
earlier where they get through the draftand don't have the left tackle spot addressed.

(22:23):
Maybe Will Levis is not the guyafter all, and maybe you know,
just didn't work out. Also, the Titans go thirteen and four this
season? How did our offseason moveshake out? And how did this draft
go? Say? First of all, everybody stayed healthy. The additions at
cornerback locked down the pass defense. They were able to draft some beef up

(22:47):
front on the defense and improve there. Get a good linebacker, some defensive
line depth, another edge rusher tothe rotation. Calvin Ridley is as advertised,
Will Levis hits the running game, gets going draft to left tackle that
hits. In a perfect world, sure, let's put thirteen and four on
the table here, all right,Jake chimes in with a huge hypothetical here,

(23:11):
due to the drop off after thefirst three receivers and the drop off
after Alt, Fashu, Latham,Fuanga and maybe Mimes, we stick and
pick the best receiver and then jumpback up giving away next year's one and
change to get fash Oh no,Jake, Jake, Now I see what

(23:32):
I think we can do. Ithink we can do here, Jake,
if we want to trade back intothe first round, which I do think
it's like virtually impossible for this teamto do, and I'm definitely not giving
away next year is one for it. But just to entertain the question here,
I think they stick at seven andthat's where they pick Alt or Fashnu,

(23:56):
and then you let the three receiversgo and maybe you get back into
the late teams and you pick upBrian Thomas Junior. That would be the
way to go. Or maybe justlike wait, maybe call the Kansas City
Chiefs or the San Francisco forty nineers and you say, hey, we
want to get back in this thing. We want some slick rick, some
pretty Ricky Pierson. Maybe that's theway to do it. But no,

(24:17):
I'm not. I'm not giving up. I'm not giving up next year's one,
not at all. No, I'msticking him picking howe asks us how
nine thousand? Excuse me? Whatdo you think the realistic chances of will
Levis being the guy to build aroundare? Is he a tractor or is
he a wagon? The thing thatI think I was the most wrong about

(24:37):
on Will Levis was the personality.Hearing reports of his pro day and meetings
and stuff like that, that hewas kind of seen as little arrogant,
a little off putting. I kindof get it now though, like he's
just got one of those quirky personalities. But on the field, he is

(25:00):
one of the most fiery quarterbacks inthe league. Man, it's obvious that
this dude wants to compete, wantsto get better. He's got the genetic
makeup for it, like he's he'sbuilt like a brick shitouse arm talent for
days. It's a matter of kindof reining it in and giving his game
a little more refinement and polish. But I think Brian Callahan is gonna work

(25:21):
wonders in that department. And yeah, I do think, I do think
there's a pretty good chance that Levisis the guy to build around. I
mean, at the very least,I think he showed enough in twenty twenty
three for this regime to say,all right, we're gonna give it a
real shot with this guy, likewe're loading up. I don't know,
a lot of people think that twentytwenty four is going to be an evaluation

(25:44):
period, But man, I don'tknow. I mean, did you not
see enough promise in the rookie campaignto already see those flashes and think we
got to go for this right now? I mean, they're gonna tell us
if they stick at seven and pickboone Knicks or something like that. But
I think they think the chances arepretty good that he's gonna be a guy

(26:07):
worth building around. And if that'sthe case, I would agree with him.
Zach asks, how good does Hopkinshave to be for you to resign
him? He just needs to stayhealthy. I mean, I think if
we just get more of the samefrom DeAndre Hopkins, that's good enough.
And people made their jokes last yearabout how washed he was and slow and

(26:29):
old and can't run, and itdoesn't it didn't matter, like he knows
how to get open. He's heseparates, he's crafty. The man is
a pros pro. He knows whathe's doing. If you can get that
for a few more seasons, yeah, resign him, keep him with Will
Levice, keep the chemistry going, keep him for as long as as you
can. If you start seeing signsof regression, he can reassess then.

(26:52):
But I don't think there's there's anysign of him slowing down over the course
of the next couple of seasons. So if you know, assuming he stays
healthy, getting a little long inthe tooth, then yeah, yep,
he's a guy you absolutely resign anotherthousand yard season. And I'm golden.

(27:15):
Stretch asks what sets of Dunza apartas your favorite player in the draft,
and what do you envision him becomingat the NFL level. Stretch, These
aren't my comps. These are compsthat I've seen other people make, Larry
Fitzgerald, Davante Adams. I sawone this week that was like AJ Brown,

(27:36):
and I can see shades of RomaDunza and all of those guys.
I like the smooth, buttery startstop, stutter step quality to his game.
I think he can line up anywhereon the field and make plays and
make dudes miss. There were questionsabout his separation, but I think out

(28:00):
of the tape. You watch it, and he can blow past a secondary
and Michael Pennix Junior would underthrow theball and he would have to come back
to it. And so people said, oh, he can't separate. He's
in all these contested catch situations. If you watch the tape, he can
separate. And I like the speed, I like the the toughness, the

(28:22):
physical nature in his game. Ijust don't think there's anything at the receiver
position that he can't do. Andso I think he is a high floor
guy that we're caught up in thename of Marvin Harrison Junior and the speed
of Malik Neighbors, and everybody likesto give Adunza his flowers by saying,

(28:42):
oh, well, he'd be widereceiver one in most draft classes. I
think we're gonna look back in afew years and he is going to be
wide receiver one out of this draftclass. So that would be like the
all around, I don't have thesame speed concerns that a lot of people
have. I think the all aroundmeant to his game is what makes him

(29:03):
my favorite player in the draft andjust seeing how like he can attack a
defen and attack a defense in somany different ways. I watch Marvin Harrison
Junior, and it's not my placeto judge anybody's effort, but there are
times when I watched him and thought, he doesn't seem to want any part
of Max Melton. He doesn't seemto want any part of these Rutgers dbs

(29:26):
that are just jamming him up andgetting physical with him. There were times
I noted, he looks like he'splaying like a guy that wants to protect
himself because he knows he's gonna bea top five pick. Whether you hold
that against him or not, Idon't know. I just think it makes
it a little harder to project afloor that is quite as high as a
Doonday's. And with Malik Neighbors,my question is like, what's gonna happen

(29:51):
when defenses aren't struck with the fearof God to face him? When you
have more capable cornerbacks on the fieldopposite the guy, can you teach him
how to play receiver? Maybe that'sbeing too hard on him, but again
I go back to my evaluation ofNeighbors. I see the speed, and
I see the electricity, but Idon't think he's a well rounded, polished,

(30:15):
finished project just yet. And sothat's what in relation to the other
receivers in this class, I thinkof Doonze's the most likely to be one
of those top ten caliber caliber receiversin the NFL. And finally, Kablarnage
hits us going with the deep cutwas Kevin Mawai's retirement and the titans inability

(30:38):
to find an adequate replacement. Thedownfall of CJ. Two K's career in
the two tone Blue. You know, I've thought about this before because it
is a fun little theory, butI do think that Kevin Mawai was a
guy that was often underrated for hisimpact on the Titans. I think it
absolutely could have been burrowing holes forCJ. Two K, who didn't need

(31:03):
much. Now, I will saythe longer his career went on, it
