and today I want to talk to you about is
martial arts actually good for self defense? How good is it?

When most people think about martial arts, they think of
one on one combat sports, JoJo's Clean White, Gee's Dragon
ball Z and whatnot. But in terms of self defense,

martial arts has to become more raw and real. So
realistically speaking, the question is can martial arts actually help
you out in a real life life or death situation.
Let's go ahead and break that down. Let's go over
the pros and cons of marshal ar arts for self
defense and survival. So the first pro is improve situational awareness.

Martial arts can actually help you sharpen your senses. You
become more aware of your surrounding as well as people's intentions,
so that alone can help you avoid trouble before it
even starts. Number two, you become more confident under pressure.
Knowing how to fight can help you stay calm when
you're Adrenaline starts despite composure is everything in a high

stress situation, whether it's a mugging, a riot, or in
a match. Number three, your physical conditioning martial arts do
tend to help make people more flexible, stronger, and faster
and the survival situation, the ability to run, climb, and
fight back can mean the difference between life and death.
Number four for the for the pros is discipline and

mental fortitude. The mindset developed in martial arts. Pushing through
the pain, thinking clearly under stress, stay in calm transfers
directly into survival situations. That type of mental edge is
actually really difficult to teach any other way. Number five
Hands as weapons. When you don't have a knife or
a firearm, your fists, your knees, your elbows, or even

your voice can act as a weapon. Martial arts like
Muay Thai and krawd ma God will focus on real
world applications. Now is the fun part. Let's go to
the cons of martial arts for self defense and survival.
Number one. For the cons, not all martial arts are equal.
Some martial arts are more sports based like taekwondo and
points karate and others don't even prepare you for the street,

and some of their key principles are horrible for the street,
while others like Kramgad and Kyli are more focused for
real world combat, So you need to make sure that
you choose your discipline wisely. Number two. Overconfidence can be dangerous,
even fatal in a real street situation. Martial arts develop

(03:01):
a false sense of security MMA thinking a black belt
makes them invincible, or that their limited style will help
them deal with every possible situation, and that there are
no downsides to the very ideology of that discipline, like
always wanting to be on the ground, which is horrible

(03:22):
than the street fight against multiple people. That attitude can
get you hurt fast, especially against somebody with a weapon,
or when there really are zero rules, and certain disciplines
like MMA claim to have no holds barred or no
rules or ultimate, which is not the case at all.
There are a lot of rules which there are not

(03:42):
in the street. Number three Time and money. Training can
take years and cost thousands of dollars for someone preparing
for survival. That may not be ideal financially or time
wise that that time might be better spent on firearms training,
food security, or learning first DAID number four limited against

(04:04):
multiple attackers. I've mentioned this before. No matter how good
you are, martial arts will only take you so far
against the gun and knife or multiple people. Martial arts
is only one part of your broader self defense toolkit.
So here's what I have to say about it. All
martial arts is not a sure All martial arts can
absolutely help you in a self defense situation. It builds mindset, fitness,

and physical capabilities. But it is not magic and you
are not Gokul. You're still gonna need street smarts, the
right gear, and the ability to walk away whenever possible,
which nowadays is very difficult for a lot of guys.
The key is integration. You need to pair martial arts
with more tactical and practical training, situational awareness, as well

(04:50):
as survival skills. Think of it as sharpening your blade
but always having a backup. So I'm gonna give some
of my recommendations for the best martial arts for surviv
and self defense. Kravma God is going to help you
with military grade efficiency. Brazilian jiu jitsu. Even though I
bash it. It can help you with control without striking.

(05:11):
Muay Thai can help you out with devastating strikes. Boxing
will really help you out with fast developing, fast hands
and footwork. Kylie and Estreama will help you out with
hand with stick fighting, knife fighting, and hand in hand
combat skills. And wrestling like I'm not WWEWWF, but actual

(05:33):
Olympic style or American style wrestling with its throws and
fast takedowns and moments of high burths, putting forth a
lot of energy in a real short time. So my
final thoughts is martial arts are not going to make
you no damn superhero, but it will give you the
tools they could possibly save your life if you're serious

(05:53):
with your self defense and survival training. And the big
key is you need to train for reality, not for
the mat. A real situation may not be one on one.
There very well could be weapons involved, and not all
martial arts are gonna be prepared for that. And some
martial arts have certain doctrines that would get you in

(06:16):
trouble in a street situation. So if you like this
