Speaker 1 (00:00):
So I watched season two of Twisted Metal and this
is what I thought of it. Don't worry, there won't
be any spoilers in this review, just a general idea
of how I felt about the show. I admit I
didn't rewatch season one before starting season two, but they
had a pretty good recap at the beginning, so I
(00:20):
think it refreshed my memory pretty good. The show jumps
off not exactly where the last season ended off, but
pretty much, and we get a good montage to kind
of understand where everything is and where everything is going
in that time. The overall look of the show is
not bad. You can tell. It doesn't have like a
mega movie budget or even one of the best TV
(00:40):
series budgets, and some of the sets do have a
little backlot feel to them, but it being a post
apocalyptic world and having some comedy elements, the cheesy backlot
field kind of fits in well on a lot of
those places. I never felt any of the sets were
way too out of line or cheezy. They all just
fit in that middle ground. But we all also have
the flashbacks, which give us a good contrast because they're
(01:03):
done in a little more traditional cinematic way. Speaking of
the flashbacks, one of the things that I did like
about season one being how we didn't get a lot
of car carnage, was the story. It gave us a
few good story elements in that first season. Sure, the
games did have a ridiculous amount of story and lore
for a game that just was cars shooting at each
other and no one actually stepping outside the vehicles, so
(01:25):
there were some good story elements to draw from, but
I still think the writers did an amazing job fleshing
it out and bringing it all together. They were able
to build these backstories and even intertwine some of the
characters' backstories to keep everything fresh and interesting, but also
stay true to some of the video game origins and aesthetics.
The overall premise of the show still follows the overall
(01:46):
premise of the games, cars fighting in a tournament to
win the prize of a granted wish, but the backstories
give us something to look at and something to cheer
for when we do see these characters finally go ahead
to head in their car battles. Anthony Mackie turned up
his goofy charm to the max, and I think he's
really doing a good job making this character, John Doe,
feel like something. I mean, this might turn out to
(02:09):
be an iconic character if they can keep this series going.
The supporting cast also does a great job. I mean,
we have so many characters on this show, and trying
to keep an ensemble like that together isn't an easy feat.
But so far, I think they're knocking it out of
the park. Each episode has a runtime of around thirty minutes,
which isn't very long, but they all do feel like
many epics all into themselves. Sweet Tooth, the mascot of
(02:32):
the franchise, isn't overused, but he's never too far away,
so if you ever did forget what show you were watching,
the reminders will be there consistently. The soundtrack so far
has been pretty good, almost top notch. I know, the
games were infused with so much melod and rock, and
it fits so well. It's almost synonymous with the franchise
at this point. But mixing a little hard hip hop
(02:53):
like DMX really compliments the flow of the show and
blowing cars up on screen. Well, I didn't enjoy the
first season of the show. It took me a while
to kind of get used to the pacing and how
they were doing things with an almost villain of the
week spin to it. I kind of just wanted to
see cars shooting at each other. But I was glad
they did what they did because it didn't turn out
(03:14):
to really just be a villain of the week thing.
They built on these characters and brought them all back
later for a big payoff, and I hope that's what
they're gonna continue to do with season two. It looks
that way so far. I'm already excited about a whole
bunch of characters on this show. I want to see
the meet up. I want to see them interact. I
want to see them shoot missiles at each other from cars.
I really am getting into this, and a big kudos
(03:36):
to the writers because, unlike some shows, I really don't
know what's gonna happen next or how this is all
gonna play out. I'm kind of just here for the ride.
Got my pun in there so far for season two,
they got me. I'm all the way in. I'm gonna
be sticking around from week to week and hopefully it
continues at this spectacular pace and continues this development and
story and world building and keeps me drawn in and
(03:58):
doesn't run flat another pun? All right, I'm done with
the punts. What do you guys think about season two
of Twisted Metal? Do you think it's off to a
good start? Did you not like season one? Do you
think season two is better? Or vice versa? Let me
know down in the comments and make sure you hit

lot of good things, I got a lot of reviews.
I do interviews. I'm just trying to get my numbers up. Man,
(04:20):
hit the subscribe if you like this video. I'm just
there with Value WORLDMYA, and I'm out of here. Peace.
