another edition of Video Games to theMax. I am your host, Sean
Germer, here with me as usualwith mister Mark Morrison. Got it,
And well, there is quite abit to talk about today, some of
it video game adjacent, some ofit actually video games has been a new
(00:34):
Nintendo indie world, so we'll talkabout that. There's more to talk about
on the Fallout Show because now I'veactually finished it, so we can kind
of guess talk about spoiler stuff orending or whatever. There are some games
we've been playing. I've been playingthat Rising Tide DLC, so I can
(00:55):
talk about that, Harold Halibut andsome other games. And well we'll get
into all that and all right,so let's go ahead and get the whole
housekeeping stuff out of the way here. If this is your first time listening
or watching, your one hundred timewatching, you're listening, We do appreciate
you. This is episode three hundredand ninety four of Video Games to the
(01:18):
Max. And we are usually laboron Fridays around like the twelve thirty one
o'clock time, but we delayed thisweek. Thought Mark was gonna have to
go go do something and then turnsout he didn't. But cool, We're
still doing the show. So that'swhat matterss here. If you subscribe to
the YouTube channel, you don't justget what we do here, you get
(01:42):
all of the other stuff, whichthere's some awesome crew that does like all
the entertainment stuff. So they willhave their own fallout TV show review.
I think that's gonna be like Fridayup on Friday. They've recorded on Thursday.
And we also have our very ownlike anime show called Taco Cafe that
(02:05):
they basically review all the new notall of it, but most of the
new like anime that they find interesting. It comes out each season. They
already have their newest episode up forthe first of the spring season. You
can go watch that on the channelor just find them on podcasts or Talking
Cafe if you're into the anime stuff. So, and like I mentioned the
(02:29):
entertainment folks, they already have theCivil War movie that Won that released recently.
They have a review of that upthere too if you're interested in that
movie. So beyond that, likeI said, you can listen to with
your ears as well. So anytimethere's a podcast, if you go subscribe
on oever podcast service you actually liketo use. You can listen to us
(02:51):
there anytime we have a new episodethat drops in your feed and you just
download and whatever and you'll go hitlike subscribe on those review you if you
can, because that helps us growthe show. And well, I think
that's it for the all the housekeeping. So Mark, anything going on with
you? Yeah, kind of kindof an off week for me, just
(03:14):
playing like a few older games. That's about it. Yeah, I mean
that's kind of it feels like we'rethis is when the new games for April
have started to release. So yougot that, you know, the Rise
of Tide. You'll see Harold hallof A. You got No Rest for
the Wicked, which I've seen ourfriend Keith over at that or Haven's been
playing a lot of I think he'she's already played like thirty seven hours of
(03:37):
that game, which is crazy.Yeah, Adam, Adam gave me code
last night. But it didn't work. That was cool. Didn't work.
Oh man, it was a duplicateor someone you know, it's probably yeah,
one of those, but they've usedit already and the PR person doesn't
realized they have yet. Yeah, actually, so the reviews will probably be
(03:58):
out by the time you're already listeningto this. I you didn't Chronicle hundred
Heroes. The embargo is actually Sunday, which is weird. Normally you don't
have an embargo on Sundays, butit is. I had to go request
the code for Last Word on Gamingand then I was like, he sends
it back to me. He goes, this is supposed to be on a
Sunday. I was like, Hey, I don't make the I don't make
the you know the stuff. Theyjust tell us what the embargo is.
(04:20):
The game comes out on Tuesday,so I guess that's why they did it.
Normally, you know, you doit like the day before or something
like that. So yeah, soyou'll probably have reviews you can read for
that game that a lot of peopleare anticipating. I'm excited to play it.
It's going to be on game Passas well, so you know it
could play it there, and thenof course to the big games that you
know, Started Blade and all thatstuff. That's going to be the next
(04:43):
time we do the show, I'lltalk about that as well. So hopefully
you're no rest of the Wicked codewill be working by then, Yeah,
so you could talk about it,but I guess let's go ahead and start
it off with a game that Iknow you're not the biggest fan of.
But five hundred and sixteen did haveits what's supposed to be the last DLC
(05:08):
for as far as we know, dropped on Thursday, and I'm not done
with it yet. I'm like, actually, probably at the battle before you
fight Leviathan. I don't know howmuch you go through after you fight Leviathan,
but uh, if the Timekeeper fight, which is the wonder for Leviathan,
is anything to go by, thisCLC is going to be freaking great.
(05:31):
I've just been enjoying it. There'smore lore to that game if you're
you're big on that in this wholeit's a whole new town. So it's
actually really interesting in how they didthis where they kind of make it where
it's like all the stuff you cando in the town that you make at
we know, whether it's the onethat Sid makes or the one that is
(05:55):
later in the game that that Clivetakes over. They kind of make the
it's like a second outpost or whateverthat exists now within the lower of Final
Fantasy sixteen, So all the sidequests are done to kind of build that
up, and none of that's goingto change, right, So it's the
similar stuff that was in the othergame, the main base game, so
(06:15):
you can expect the side quest ofthe similar nature. The only thing that
really changes is that the outside ofthe main like regular enemies that you'll fight,
the kind of mini bosses are abit tougher. They're faster, they
react faster. They're kind of liketougher versions of the one that you ones
(06:35):
you fight in the in the gamealready, so I ran into that.
I guess it's a glitch, butI figured it out after a while that
you have to fight like one ofthose curls, which is like the leopard
look yeah, with the big whiskers, and it's in a small, little
confined space, and if you chaseit too far, it will basically randomly
(07:02):
just end the fight and then makehim walk back to the beginning where he
was and then you have to startall over again. And it happened to
be like three or four times, and I was like, dude, this
is so annoying. And then Ifinally figured out that, like I have
to stop chasing him towards the otherside of the let him like basically come
back to where you know, theother side that has the wall that blocks
(07:25):
him there, so that he won'tyou know, go off the the imaginary
boundary or whatever. But I loveusing the Of course, you also get
the Leviathan like icon that you getto use before you actually fight Leviathan,
because Leviathan finds more about fighting itfree. So the way the dev's talked
about it was the echoes of thefollowing dec which is a shorter one,
(07:47):
was kind of like, this isthe last story that's about Clive really,
whereas the one that's with Leviathan, this one, Rising Tide, is more
about This is like if freaks closurewith the other icons. So you do
get the Leviathan like power, andit's actually really cool. Like he he
(08:09):
had. It seems almost like theybasically made him like another Bahama So like
if you used Bahamad a lot theicon in the original the main game,
this is kind of like that alot of his. It has that same
like base attack where if you holdit you can shoot out like water balls
instead of like shooting out the impulsethings or whatever that he does, or
(08:33):
you have one. It's just likea straight up like a gun that shoots
like a bunch of bullets at once, and the the like super special one
is feels a lot like the gigaflairor whatever too. The I'm sure everybody's
seen the toneberries at this that arekind of like the aside from Leviathan,
(08:56):
like the one thing that people kindof recognize from the DLC that they've shown
a lot, and yeah, they'redefinitely uh, definitely different, uh for
this one. I it took mea while at first because they they do
similar things to like the regular toneberries, like the like you know, the
ones you can fight in rebirth oret cetera. But they really do spring
(09:20):
it on you when he does thethe big like oh, this knife's gonna
actually kill you moment. The knifestill turns red and stuff, but it's
like a lot of stabs, notjust like one stab. So it's like,
oh, okay, here we go. And then the Mastertoneberry thing is
really cool too. So for themost part, I've really enjoyed it having
(09:45):
the Timekeeper fight, which is like, I guess he's like the warden of
the area where the where Leviathan is. It's really awesome. It has a
lot of different changes in like phasesand the way you fight him and stuff
really keeps on your toes. Sothat's like a really like climax to that.
And they have a neat story asto like how the dominant, who
(10:09):
the dominant is, and how thatdominant exists and all that stuff. So
again, if you liked sixteen andthe way they did the story, it's
more of that. But I thinkyou'll enjoy it if you like sixteen at
all. I feel like it's worththe time. It's probably more closer to
(10:30):
like I know that they said tenhours or so eight to ten hours in
the before you get to it,the preview that's more if I guess you
either go through it twice or youalso go through that. I guess it's
the extra Arcade mode or whatever, the Cairos mode that has the extra little
(10:52):
hint surprise and then an extra likeicon thing that you can use. I
don't know if I'm going to dothat or not, just because I've I've
kind of been more like trying todo this stuff with rebirth and all that
stuff and get through crisis score again. But I've been like in the whole
story in the DLC so far.So that's, uh, that's my thoughts
(11:16):
on it for that. I'm surethe Leviathans fight, from what I've heard,
is gonna be awesome. So I'veheard of it. It's really hard.
People are dying in it, whichis different from the other I felt
like, you're never gonna die.Yeah, you can't die, it's just
a mash fest and slogging your waythrough it. Well, I mean,
(11:41):
I guess on FOM Fantasy mode youprobably can. But on the regular mode,
yeah, yeah, I shouldn't haveto play a super hard mode for
the game to be a challenge.Yeah. I still contend that they did
the wrong thing and not allowing youto have that from the beginning, Like
they really should have let people havea challenge. And I still don't understand
why they didn't unlock that for anybodythat's like buying it now, you know,
(12:03):
like let people have the ability toplay that game, play it on
the hardest difficulty. You know.I kind of get it with Rebirth in
a way, because like that's playingthrough a much longer game, I guess
or whatnot. But I don't know, I just don't get the point of
(12:24):
keeping. I get, like theSuper Super I guess there's they made a
different mode that's like above hard moodfor this game. I get like locking
that behind it or whatever, butnot the one that might be more challenge
to you, especially when it's weirdwhen Yoshi Pi talks about the reason why
they delayed Fun Fantasy fourteen to likethe week that they did was he wanted
(12:46):
to play the elden Ring DLC.It's like, you're gonna tell me you're
a fan of elden Ring, butyou lock that behind everything. So that's
kind of weird. But still theDEALC is enjoyable. I think for the
twenty five bucks that they charge forboth of them, to get ten hours
of enjoyment with that game still withthose characters, or at least with Clive
(13:07):
anyway, getting to hear VN Staragain for another whole series of stories,
I think is definitely worth it onthat front. The other game that I've
been playing that's new is Harold Hallof It, which, if you guys
don't know what that is, that'sthat stop motion indie game. It's on
(13:28):
game Pass, so if you wantto go check it out, it is
a It is the definition of awalkingson. So if that is not your
bag, I'm going to tell youright now that unless you're going to play
it on game Pass, because thewhole the animation style interest you. Which
(13:48):
it really is interesting. The waythat you see that move and the way
they make that so seamless and everythingis really really cool. And the story
is actually like very so like they'restuck in this. It's on Earth,
but I'm not sure if it's supposedto be like before the Earth that we
have now is created and it's likea Earth that's like all in water kind
(14:13):
of almost feels like Boleshock in away a little bit too, And so
he works for like the water company, all water company. He's kind of
like the maintenance guy or whatever. And you kind of have some little light
puzzle things that you have to do, but most of it is just going
talking to people, unraveling the storyas it goes in the various ways that
(14:37):
they do it, kind of gettingto meet the characters and that kind of
stuff. I think for the mostpart it serves that purpose. I think
it's really good the way that itall does that. I haven't finished it
yet, so I can't really commenton the like how the story goes or
anything. But I'm really I'm it'sjust I think it's one of those things
(15:00):
where like I've been playing so manyaction games that it's not serving the purpose
of being the break. It waskind of like, Okay, this is
a bit too slow for me rightnow when I'm playing all these other games
that are so different, you knowthat I might just like come back to
it later when when I really don'thave anything that I'm like super playing and
(15:26):
then like finish it out. ButI am enjoying it. I think anybody
that like likes those kind of storygames definitely go give it a go again.
If you have game Pass, likewhy not. But if you don't,
I don't think that this game isgoing to change that for you.
Right. It's not trying to beanything else. It is that kind of
(15:46):
game, so right, yeah, anything you've been playing there. I played
about half a Mafia two. Igot real bored, Like remaster, Uh,
that is a very boring game.Okay, I'm like, you played
(16:07):
the boring game. That's interesting.Well, I got to be like,
I guess I didn't like Well,the reviews were like, okay, they're
you know, sevens and eights, but I was. I played it and
I was like, wow, likethere's nothing to do in this game,
so go like point A to pointb like missions, and that's about it.
I hit chapter nine and I thinkthat was like when I found my
first collectible and it was like somePlayboy magazine and I was like, yo,
(16:29):
I missed a bunch of these, like yeah, like it would have
been helpful if they if they toldme chapter one, Hey, look after
this crap a little like yeah,And I'm playing a little of the outer
worlds or replaying it. I neverfinished that game or back in the day,
so I kind of now I'm playingit on PC. It's a little
more fun and it holds up likeit's kind of surprising. Well, I
(16:52):
mean there's a lot of in itright right, yeah, and I think
it's I think it'll hold up morethan like, uh, Star Citizen,
whatever the hell that has been madelast year their space game Oh Starfield Yeah,
thanks, Uh just has like moreof a personality and like more yeah,
like humor and care, like youknow, just stuff going on.
(17:15):
Like I don't I don't need likea big open galaxy to explore. I'd
be happy with six planets that areactually interesting rather than a thousand planets that
aren't. No, definitely understand that. Yeah, but well you finished Fallout.
Yes, since we're talking about outerworlds, makes sense. Let's go
on and talk about Fallout. Butjust before we, I guess, talk
(17:37):
about stuff that has to do withthe show. When we were doing the
show last week, they had talkedabout that they move locations, but they
hadn't officially announced from Amazon itself thatthey had given it a season two.
Now they have announced that, soit officially has a season two now,
So anybody that's worried on not watchingit because you were worried about, oh,
(18:03):
it may not do well enough toget a season two, it has
season two, so go check itout. Although it's done a hell a
lot for the games, so infact, Fallout four was the number one
rated game last week in Europe.Even I picked them all up on the
sale because the Game of the Yearedition on Xbox was ten bucks, and
(18:26):
then I already had three, butit was like a physical disc or whatever,
and it was like two fifty, and I was like why not whatever,
and then New Vegas was also twofifty, and I was like why
not, you know, so forten bucks if you don't even get the
Game of the Year edition because theregular version of Fallout four was five I
think the sale ended. It wasended on the twin well actually what it
(18:49):
may be on until tomorrow. I'mnot sure exactly when the sales was to
end, at least on Xbox anyway, So for like ten bucks, I
got all three games, right,Uh, that definitely makes a difference,
right, Like if you're talking aboutthese games being regular price, like let's
say they're all thirty even, Idon't think you're seeing the sales that you're
(19:11):
seeing, right, but they're allold and yeah, why not pick them
up for five bucks or whatever fora song basically? And Steam was giving
you everything I think for like tenbucks, even fall Out one and two,
like the whole anthology or whatever. So also I saw a lot of
people talking about now is the timeto remake Fallout one and two? Do
(19:33):
you think that you know they're different, it's a different studio and all that.
That's the problem. Yeah, Wellit's a very different game, Like
they could remake the like the plot, I guess, or the story,
but it's just such a different experience. That I don't think it would go
over too well or have like thewaste had like an exile or the Wasteline
developers remake fall Out one and two. Yeah, I mean, it definitely
(19:57):
would have to be that, right, it would be beau so basically taking
their own kind of thoughts on it. The only cool thing is I mean,
I guess they have Obsidian in house, so maybe they could come up
with different ties to how do youall tie this together and kind of make
it a or do you let maybeObsidian do it, like do you let
Obcity and make them one and two? And But that's the kind of it's
(20:18):
just there to kind of supervise orTodd Howard supervisors or whatever like. It'd
be interesting if they did it right, to make it more modern or whatnot.
But the games are available, andthey're available on PC Game Pass as
well, so it's not like youcan't play them. It's just if I
think, if you weren't like bigon PC games in that time, I
(20:40):
don't know if they necessarily appeel tolike the modern no god no, right,
Yeah, So that's that's the thing, is that. But for the
people that care about chronology, Iguess I mean, oh, well,
like, yeah, you don't haveto play like right, most of that
show doesn't, isn't isn't turned aboutFallout one and two. Yeah. Besides,
(21:03):
by the time we get Fallout five, it's going to be what we
don't even know, we're going toget Elder Scrolls. He doesn't want to
put a date on it. Soyeah, so but he's said he's he
said again that Other Scrolls is thenext game, right, So Elder Scrolls
is coming, Other Scrolls six iscoming first. And it doesn't mean that
(21:25):
they won't make it like another Falloutthing, right, They could make a
side game or something that's smaller thatis not You're right about that they don't,
but I mean unless you're doing likesomething completely not it like Fallout Shelter,
right, but still it's they thepossibility is there. He mentions that
(21:48):
it doesn't mean that they won't doanything fall Out related, but we won't
get a Fallout five until after ElderScrolls six is done, and that's going
to be a long while, soget ready for that. That. Unfortunately,
they don't have a brand new gameto capitalize on it, whereas like
the Last of Us TV show hadthe last was Part one remastered, you
(22:10):
know, remake or remaster to goalong with that. Then you got Part
two, like really quickly they havethat for Fallout four. That'll be good
enough. Yeah, I guess youdo have seventy six. Seventy six is
out there and people are enjoying that. Okay, No, I mean it's
(22:30):
gotten better with the with the experiencesand everything. It just took a long
time. When it first came outand launched, it wasn't great. But
again, mmls are not for everybody, right, Not everybody wants to be
in that like continuous world where youfeel like you gotta be playing that consistently.
So, but for the people thatlike the live service stuff, I
guess that's there, you know.Uh, So that's good. That's good
(22:52):
that this show is so well madethat it's helping the games. It's helping
broader knowledge of what that whole seriesis and the whole group of games.
It's always good when you see thingslike that as far as yeah, yeah,
like what are your thoughts on it? Like overall as a show as
(23:14):
a show, it's a really damngood show for somebody that doesn't play the
games really, uh, just takingit as seeing the show for what it
is, I really enjoyed it.I never felt like I think it goes
at a pretty good pace. There'sgood humor. I love the parts where
it slows down and does the ridiculousfights with the gore and the fifties music
(23:41):
and all that stuff. That's I'mexcited every time one of those comes.
The way they do the story withthe flashbacks is really good too. I
thought tying that in with why WaltonGoggin's character is the way he is makes
you know, because when we haddone it last week, I only watched
with them a couple or three episodes. So now that makes more sense,
(24:03):
like why he's why he is theway he is? Uh you know like
that, it makes sense he's beenhe did something to himself to make him
be able to last this long sothat he could, uh you know,
do what he does at So atthis point, I'm it's gonna say,
if you haven't watched the show,we talked about it more like non spoily
(24:25):
last week. So beyond this point, I'm going to say there's a chance
that we could talk about the showwhere there's spoilers. So yeah, it's
been a week and a half,so well, I'm not and the show
talk came out at once, butyeah, just saying that from now on,
don't get upset if we're talking aboutthe show and you haven't watched it
(24:48):
yet and and we spoil something. But yeah, I I think they did
a great job. Like the waythat they show the stuff about Lucy's mom,
what happened with that, that wasreally well done. How they tie
that all into the nuke. Like, so now that I have kind of
have your understanding of I guess thewhole issue with the last two episodes that
(25:11):
you had, So what is itabout those two episodes for you that like,
really is the problem with the showis it is a timeline problem.
So they say that sand Shady Sandsfell in twenty two seventy seven, I
think right, And then they showlike the next thing on the blackboard is
getting nuked, and it doesn't saywhen that happens, but we have to
(25:33):
imagine it's probably pretty soon after thatbecause the kid had just gotten nuked like
five years ago, because Maximiths waslike, you know, a little eight
year old kid, So I hada NW ten fifteen years ago. I
assume it was new in twenty twentytwo seventy seven. Right, the problem
with the show and the reason alot of people were pissed is fallo Up.
(25:55):
New Vegas takes place in twenty twoeighty one. So why the fuck
would the NCR be so obsessed withgetting like New Vegas and the Hoover Dam
when their capital just fell. Well, I mean it's it's still there.
Right, that's the last shot ofthe whole series, the whole season one
is that New Vegas. No?No, Yeah, it's well no,
(26:17):
no, because in in New Vegas, the game like it's a it's a
powerful it's still working or you know, it's still operational. So another problem
is in twenty in the game, which obviously is written fifteen years ago or
made you know, a decade ago. Yeah, I think fifteen years ago,
you know whatever, they never mentionedlike the NCR falling or I mean,
(26:40):
hell, the NCR president is inthe game. It's like a character.
But in the show they just kindof gloss over that, and it's
wonky because like there's a four yeardifference there, Like they could have written
around it to be like, ohthe ends like Shady Sands fell in twenty
two eighty four, that would havemitigated all this crap really or that yeah,
(27:02):
been like fine, and I don'tI actually don't care that New Vegas
fell, Like it's perfectly reasonable thatwithin fifteen years, after fifteen years after
the game, that New Vegas asa city fell. But the problem is,
like in the New Vegas game, there's like a whole NCR contingent or
like, you know, there aremen and there are gear in like Vegas,
(27:23):
So why would they be there iftheir capital just fell four years ago,
Like they wouldn't have the resources oryou know, anything like that.
And I realized it's like a nitpickyasshole kind of thing. But it feels
like weirdly deliberate that they did that, and it just I can't figure it
out why, like why they didit. And the other other thing that
(27:45):
kind of bugs me is the MoldDavid character. Like I love the actress
and like the idea of her,but in the past she's like this like
intelligent, like quote unquote communist whoinvented cold Tusian and then she's also in
the present, so you have togo like, okay, you have to
(28:06):
assume that she was frozen, butshe didn't like Vaultech. So why would
she freeze herself? You know, well, I mean if she if she
knows that the the Lucy's dad isgoing to freeze himself, right, Yeah,
and she didn't really like yeah, she didn't really see him. She
knew him, like she knew ofhim. I think, or she knew
(28:30):
she only knew of him because oflike Lucy's mom. Right, But that
that makes sense. It's the samething as like, uh, the ghoul,
Like, why she's still he didsomething to make sure he was still
around. It seems like it's it'sa like it's just a mechanism to make
sure that, oh, we're goingto get our revenge of vult Tech.
(28:51):
Yeah, you know it's but maybemaybe that's something they're going to reveal and
in in season two if they goin a backstory on her. Like also,
the other thing is like and thisis kind of a weird thing.
Also but in season not season eightand episode eight you discover or it's majorly
implied. Let's say that Valtech isthe one who unleashed the bombs on you
(29:15):
know, the US and China, right, and Cooper's ex wife she's not
like leaving Valtech, but she's likethe valteg representative and they're already split up
at that point, which is fine, but you'd think that she would know
the day they're going to do thatand would say, hey, I want
to keep my daughter for that day, not have her out in the world,
(29:38):
like you know, he's the onewho like rescues her. So it's
like, yeah, what like becausehe's going like, oh, where's my
family, It's like, well, you don't know about your ex wife.
I mean, you can probably assumeif she's in a vault somewhere, but
like you're the one who had whohad your daughter, like you don't remember
what happened. Yeah, but Idon't know. Maybe maybe I guess.
(30:02):
Like I said, I just likeI really like the first like five or
six episodes, and then they dothat like the classroom thing that kind of
irked me, and then like episodeeight is like really where it kind of
fell apart from MEA's like from anarrative perspective, Yeah, but I did.
I did like the idea like Lucy'sdad being evil, uh, and
(30:25):
I like the idea of the Iforget her name. I think her name
is Stephanie, but the blonde vaulttech lady with that one eye was also
evil. Yeah, that was agood h I also like the story with
the brother Lucy's brother and the like, but it's so obvious what he's gonna
do in season two. So he'sjust gonna start busting up the fucking crowd
(30:48):
tube until the robots them out, which is what I would do. Like
I'd be like, all right, you want to save these people, Well
I have a rock, let's let'sdo this. But I do it'll be
interesting to see what happens if theydo go to like New Vegas. Uh.
I do like the idea of likeLucy and the Ghoul being more equal
(31:08):
footing for season two, and it'llbe interesting. She like knows who he
is, okay, I think inlike episode one, her and her dad
or like watching Westerns on the ton their TV. So if he goes,
if the goul goes, oh,my name is Cooper, and the
Cooper get his last name Hawks orHawckeying or something. Yeah. So I
(31:29):
liked a lot of it, andI I did like I do like the
idea in the Brotherhood of maxpus likebeing such a fuck up but basic keep
hitting promoted constantly. I love Ilove the fact that he's like totally not
the one that should be the mainwhen you when you think about their brotherhood
of steel or whatever, Like theguy that he replaces is sort of the
(31:52):
prototypical what you think of that wholethe way they're setting that up, and
then it makes those moments where hedoes funny stuff with the sudon or whatever
much better. Yeah. Yeah, she had a lot of online discourse calling
him a himbo, like a maledimbo. Yeah, and I kind of
see that. I think they're beinga little mean about it. But he
(32:14):
is a weirdly sheltered or like hedoesn't he's not like curious or doesn't understand
a lot of stuff, which Ithought was funny. Well, he wants
to. He does, like wantto. I guess keep like you said,
keep getting promoted, keep keep havingambitions or whatever. But he means
he's also a kid, like hewent from being a kid that had no
(32:34):
one around him too. I guessthis is like his found family to another
respect. And then he he kindof doesn't know what to do with that
point. It's it's almost like,Okay, yeah, he's been on the
surface and he knows like how shittythe world is. But there's a lot
like when he goes into the vaultand then finds that like oh there's oysters
and there's other shit, and he'slike, wait, I want to stay
(32:58):
here. This is amazing, youknow, right, So he kind of
gets experienced like Lucy what Lucy livedwith for for all that time? Uh
right, and see what's great aboutthat? So yeah, so you never
played Fallout three or four before I. I played some of New Vegas.
I played a little bit of three, I played a little bit four.
(33:20):
That's it, Like, I knowthe basic concept of what you do and
fallow, but I not really experiencedthat much of it to really. The
one funny thing to me, there'sa perk and fell Out in all the
games actually, but in three andfour they made it a little more relevant
or a little more visual, calledthe Mysterious Stranger, And that's a perk
that like a case me, whenyou go into vats and kill someone like
(33:42):
this, like figure pops out andhe's just having a Fedora and he like
one shots, you know, Imean, you're trying to kill And it'd
be really funny if if in theshow they recreate that just with Michael Emerson.
That'd be cool. Yeah. There'slike really a lot of fun little
moments in this show that's like reallywell done, even if you don't understand.
(34:04):
Oh the game. Yeah. Theone weird thing to me, and
this isn't actually like a knock againstthe show per se, but it's like
I always like, where how comethere aren't any super mutants around? Yeah?
That for like, they were sucha big deal in the ship in
the games, but it's like youdon't see any like you don't see any
of them, or they're not mentionedat all or anything. It was like,
(34:27):
what like the end of the endof the season, they show like
the death Claws skull. That's aboutit. Yeah, and then they show
the was it the Golper like wherethe Golfer comes from or whatever? Well
that's like episode four or five,Yeah, I think four or five.
Yeah, so, oh right.I liked it. I think like as
(34:47):
a show, I think like TheLast of Us is still better, but
I think Fallout is like more It'smore fun, at least for most of
it, you know. I thinkI love the fact that it took a
it makes oates the show, butit took liberties with things like it did
its own thing. Last of Usis just really trying to be the Last
of Us to teach, and that'sgreat and there's nothing wrong with that,
(35:13):
and it's still a great piece ofTV show by itself. But I enjoyed
this, I think just as muchbecause I didn't feel like, oh,
I was just playing one of thegames whatever, like, oh, this
is its own thing. You know, it's not a game, right exactly.
It could feel like it could beits own game if it wanted to,
(35:34):
right, Like they could literally justdecide to make a game off this
storyline that they wanted, which wouldbe interesting in a way that they they
ever kind of like went down thatroute or whatnot. But you know,
Todd Howard did say they can dowhatever they want, just don't take any
story that it's going to be theone for Fallout five, which okay,
I guess if he's like overseeing that, he would know that's what what story?
(35:58):
You're not barely even making it,you know. Yeah, Like I
wonder if that's how far into prepre pre pre production is that game even,
Yeah, exactly, Like they havea name and maybe like a logo
it's about it. Yeah, exactlythe same stuff they showed off at that
whatever E three it was, isprobably where it's still at because they have
(36:19):
to do the other Scroll six andthey're still doing Starfield and they're still doing
you know, other things right now. So yeah, it's it's it's a
lot. But again, this isa really good show. People should go
watch it and hopefully y'all like it. So yeah, I don't think that
those are wrong the people that weresitting there saying that, oh, this
(36:43):
shouldn't be compared to Last of Usor whatever. I definitely think it deserves
to have its own comparison for whatit does. And you know, so
yeah, definitely not Halo. Atleast this thing understands what actually helps make
the Halo Show or you know,It's World great. The Halo Show just
(37:05):
decided it wanted to take stuff fromHalo and make its own show. And
I don't know, I've heard Seasontwo is better, but it's weird.
But yeah, it still has likea whole bunch of like weird side characters
that like don't feel Germaine in allof the plot and it's like, you
know, why is this A's andchick stole in in the show when she
doesn't matter or you know, theyjust assigned that, assign her basic importance
(37:30):
to history to someone else. Youknow, yep, for sure you can
move on. But yeah, there'sother TV shows stuff that decidedly came out
this week as well. So weknow which your season four is in production
and obviously does not have Henry Cavillin it. He that is now Liam
Hensworth that's going to be doing Girls, And apparently they think things are going
(37:53):
so well that Netflix has decided thatit is going to have finality, it's
gonna get to season five, andthey're going to wrap up all three of
the final books between season four andfive apparently, so I know Henry cavill
is not going to be there tomake sure that they do honto the books.
So I guess they'll be happier thatway. But we'll see. I
(38:14):
guess I'm expecting a huge drop forthat show exactly this. I can go,
what are canceling it? They're like, well, Henry, I mean
not lio Liam. Yeah, he'slot chiefer than Henry Cavill. Uh,
And you don't have to follow thebooks anymore, write our own stupid ending
(38:34):
and kind of go from there.Yeah, exactly. It. It feels
like Netflix, I guess wants thispicture they give it finality. Hopefully they
do it justice. I stopped watchingafter that season two, so I never
watched it has been a huge interestin like fantasy, Like I'm sure it
was fine when he was Tallana, but I'm cool season was really really good,
(39:00):
like I deserved. Yeah, Iheard season one is good and season
two is like passable, but it'skind of a huge mess. Yeah that's
going really down after season two,and it was just like a yeah,
you know, but yeah, it'sit's at least going to have a final
season of season five with Netflix kindof being a bit more, Uh,
(39:22):
they'll just can't. I mean they'vebeen like that for a while, but
it feels like even more now they'rebeing very oh, we'll has canceled whatever
and you're just gonna deal with it. So good that they're at least committing
to that and for now, let'ssee what happens if season four comes out
and like hardly anybody's watching it ifthey'll still do that or not. But
(39:42):
yeah, I think they will, just because like why not, you know,
yeah, they may they may tryto move into like another show like
or another let's face, another videogame property. Well, I mean yeah,
they're already working on Horizon, somaybe they'll have a Metro show Metro
twenty thirty three. You know what, Metro is a good one. That
could be a show if they wantedto do it. Yeah, it's got
(40:07):
enough games. They definitely do havelike their own kind of lower that's interesting,
so they can use a lot offallout sets. Yeah, that's Comedy
Central is gonna be making a GoldenAxe show? Uh, you know not
something I thought I was gonna hearPaired Together is Comedy Central and Golden acts?
(40:32):
Okay, and then you know,go ahead. I guess My question
is, yo, why Like Ican understand the appeal of like, oh,
it's a it's a cartoon, Ithink, right, yeah, yeah
his voice acted, So it's like, okay, it's a fantasy comedy show.
That's all right? Sure? Whynot when they got the got that
(40:53):
Matt Greening Disenchanted show. But yeah, I mean it's a different spin.
But but it's like, why tiedto Golden Axe? Like? Only people
I would say, what, you'rethirty seven, right, yeah? Only
people like thirty five and older? No, Golden Axe is like, yeah,
that's one of those like deep cutsthat you had to be around in
(41:16):
the early Sega days, like aGhosts and Goblins game or a TV show
or something like that. You know, Yeah, it's like yeah, yeah,
yeah, I don't know. It'slike I guess they picked it because
you have like pretty open ended characters. You can literally have them do whatever
you want and it wouldn't really matter. Is there is there any kind of
(41:39):
like oh my god, they didn't. I mean, all they have to
do is do like some attacks fromthe Golden Axe games, and you pretty
much got it or whatever. It'spretty much, you know, the guy,
the main guy has to be blue, which the girl has to have
a red leotard or red out faceyea, and the dwarf has to wear
be green to be the best character, just like the games. I think
(42:04):
as long as if they can,you know, Dungeon Dragons show that you
can be funny and have allusions tothe actual source material and be good.
I hope they don't go like allScott Pilgrim about it either, but it
let's I guess we got to seehow it goes. Like there's some like
I love Danny Pooty. Anytime I'veseen him in the show, he makes
(42:27):
me laugh. Uh so, uh, the whole cast, you know,
Liam McIntyre, Matthew Reeves, Arthurall Good. So. One one downside
to me is it looks like MikeMcMahon. Mike mahon was gonna write it
or do it. He does LowerDecks Star Trek, and I'm like,
no, Lower Deck seems to havelike a really polarizing like there's people that
(42:51):
like wrote Lower Decks a lot,and there's people that just don't like it,
and it makes me lose respect forhim when he brings it up.
Seek what are you doing? Yeah? Friends there, so mm hmmm,
uh yeah, this is look Segasaid that they're doing stuff with their properties,
and they weren't joking, right,They're they're making all these games and
(43:15):
uh they're they're making even TV showswith them, so we'll see. I'm
surprised nobody's tried to do a jetset radio like anime or something yet.
With that, I can see thateither like a real anime or an animated
show, the one show or theone property that I'm kind of mystified that
no one is or no western let'ssay companies tried is Persona because they get
(43:40):
pretty easily uh transition into the liveaction show, where I feel like that
was a little bit more guarded aboutthat, Like I think they like so
who cares, right, But Imean to me, like that's that's saying
that we should have a like aDragon show, And I just I don't
see that happen either, you know, like they do that so well in
(44:02):
their own games that they got theactress to do it. If they got
the actors to do it, whynot. I also think that like Alice
likes to do in the animes rightthe games. So but I just think
like like a Western eyes persona showthat is like less crazy than Riverdale be
kind of cool. Yeah, itwould be kind of interesting if they could
(44:24):
do it. Would would they lethim do it? I don't know.
Speaking of interesting choices, we havefound out that Keanu Reeves is gonna voice
shot of a hedgehog in the Sonicthree movie, which is still scuttled to
come out December twentieth. Uh notnot the one I thought of, I
(44:45):
guess, But I guess if ifyou want to make them cool, if
you want to make them no,I assuming he's likely doing it because the
first choice, which was going tobe Carrot Top, decided not to do
it. No, he's fine. You know, if you want, you
can like moody asshole. Yeah,so sure, why not. Yeah,
(45:06):
it's just it's interesting to be Ilike it. He's color is obviously is
such a huge act at this pointthat Yeah, but I don't he actually
does a lot of weird voice work, like yes, so yeah, sure,
I mean yeah, I mean, like why not, you know,
because we saw him in Cyberpunk.Uh, people love him there, and
(45:30):
and now you say that shadows beingvoiced by Jan Reese, people are gonna
go to the theater just for that. Yeah, I remember, well he's
he was looking Toy Story four.Yeah, le Super Pets, the SpongeBob
movie, and that Keano movie.Yeah, so that's expected, right,
(45:52):
so yeah, go for it.Yeah. It's interesting how much like just
gaming TV show stuff decided to comeout all at once, And it feels
like we're going to get more ofthat as time goes on, because games
are, especially with the Fallout showdoing well, I'm pretty sure there's like
more games that people are tapping up. Yeah, I guess time, Like
(46:15):
comments are kind of tapped out,so I might as well move on to
the next front. Yep, exactly, just hopefully we see more good ones
than bad ones. As we've learned. You want to keep this golden age
of TV going, Let's let's doit the good way. Yeah, speaking
of bringing things to, you know, to their golden age. Apparently calling
(46:37):
to Holly Longdale, executive producer vispresident of World of Warcraft. She was
asked in a recent interview interview withVGC about what do they think about how
things have been since Microsoft's taken over. She says, if anything has just
been helpful, they can get informationand tips from Mojang and the elder Scrolls
(46:59):
Online team and kind of see what'sbeen working for them and kind of see
if they can use that in Worldof Warcraft. No one's asking us to
do anything. They're basically letting usbe Blizzard. Obviously. That is Macrosauce
mo O for better or worse. It's worked for some not worked for others,
if you depending on who you ask, But as somebody that still plays
(47:22):
well and I mean I occasionally, but you still review the new expanses or
whatever, So do you have afaith that they can help in improving it
or yes and no. I wouldsay yes, and the fact that like
they have more money behind them nowand hopefully they can get more development time
(47:44):
in but no, because like they'rethere, their company culture is kind of
toxic even without all the sexual harassmentstuff you know that plagued them. Yeah,
but I mean the main guy that'sgone right, right, right,
But I just mean like their wholelike Blizzard Magic or like, oh,
we know people want to work here, so that's why we pay them less,
(48:06):
that type of bs, you know. Yeah, I mean I would
assume it already improves one by havingother people that are not Bobby Kotek at
the head of your having to dealwith that. Also, I think go
ahead. I think Blizzard just needsto Like they have a lot of people
working for them, but they don'tmake a lot of games, right and
that's kind of a that's kind ofan issue. That's kind of a problem.
(48:29):
Like, you know, their lastnew property was Perstown, I think,
or Overwatch. I guess Overwatch andyo, that was twenty sixteen,
and the last one you made,Overwatch two. Don't exactly set the world
on fire. Hurstone is kind offlatlining, hard of the storm harder,
the Storm is gone, StarCraft twois old, uh, you know,
(48:51):
World of Warcrafts still trucking along. That's kind of about it, right.
I Mean, the thing is theymake games just keep going right. It's
not they they don't really have thislike one and Done, even the game
that got canceled. I'm pretty sureit's a survival game that's supposed to keep
going right, right, But Ithink that that's that's kind of a I'm
(49:12):
not saying they need to be likeUbisoft I have like yearly releases or anything,
but like they don't innovate well, and they're like, okay, but
at a game a decade ago andI we're done, you know, yeah,
and like that or no Diablo Fork. I mean that's not a new
game and a new property, butthat came out and that's had a pretty
disastrous like post launch you know run, you know, like line of progress.
(49:42):
So I actually think, honestly,I think Microsoft should should be taking
more of the reins of some ofthese developers. Like but that's like if
you want to keep Todd Howards likethe figurehead, go ahead, but like
actually setting goals for the company orlike you know, deadlines I mean,
to any fair, Starfield was thefirst one in this game pass era that
(50:04):
has proven that people will buy thegame if there's enough hype and care behind
it. Like, yeah, didthe game end up being like the game
of the generation? No, butit has to be true. I think
that was more like people wanting itto be that. Did he ever really
say that? Yeah, I meanI imagine that the first game from a
(50:30):
Todd Howard and in the first fewproperty from Todd Howard, and however many
years, I'm sure he's going tobe excited and hope that it becomes,
you know, the next big thingor whatever. And now that follow out
TV shows and well I keep seeingpeople being like, this is just Fallout
in space people, you should caremore about, you know, Starfield.
(50:52):
But I mean Fallout four wasn't thatwell received either, to be fair,
right, So I mean, reallyone was like Death Loop, right,
Death Loop was the last like bigbethesa game that people really loved, but
that wasn't a Todd Howard thing. That was the Arcane Studio right doing that.
So it the main beth as theteam that has Todd I think is
(51:16):
that one is the one that kindof they were hoping would really be bringing
in and it did to an extent, it brought those peopel in. But
yeah, let's let's see with thislineup that they have this year, between
a Vout and n Indiana Jones andall that stuff. I think if if
we're not creating a if you're notcreating a buzz around Xbox at that point
(51:37):
with these games, I think there'san issue there at that point, like
you got hell Blade, you gotthis, you got you know, these
are some of the ones people havebeen waiting on. You gotta start delivering
when it comes to that. Soyeah, for sure, but leave it
to you know, we talked aboutthat previous regime. One of the ones
(52:00):
it also left was also formerly partof Xbox previously during the disastrous Xbox One
and all that. Mikey Barrow,he went on Twitter X I'm not gonna
call it X. I'm sorry.Yeah, he said that when I beat
a game, there are some thatjust leave me in awe of how amazing
(52:20):
the experience was. I've often thoughtI wish I could give these folks another
ten or twenty dollars because it wasworth more than my initial seventy, and
they didn't try to nickel and dieme every second. Most would have sele
liked the idea and that we're tiredof tipping and everything else. But I
view this different from our pressure totip type scenario. And he talks about,
you know, the big games fromPlayStation Briden Zodan got a war like
(52:45):
Balder's Gate three, Elden Ring, that kind of thing. This, I
don't think this would ever happen rightwhere we're just gonna tip Triple A devs
if he wants just a hat inTriple A shot like twenty bucks, and
it's like, well, depending onhow good the game is, will accordingly
give you more. I mean, for one, it's not going to go
(53:06):
to those developers directly, right,it's going to go to the publisher.
It's going to go to other people. Every game can instead of a PayPal
donation link like click here to donatemore to to Insomnia Games. Yeah,
Like, I mean, indies dothat, right, and they have the
kickstarter, you know, and youhave kickstarters, you have ways you can
(53:30):
send up directly donations at times hand all of those things they get backing
from capital. And as I thinkit's kind of fools eron because most of
the games you listed. If youwant to do that with like a traditional
Triple A game, you just buythe DLC exactly. But like I think
(53:52):
Spider Man has some DLC, butlike all at the moment, doesn't.
I mean, they announced it,but it's not out yet. Yeah,
but I mean it's also that wastwo years ago. I mean the game
came out two years ago. It'snot like DLC was like the next week
or anything. At the time,we didn't know that it was gonna have
DLC. They thought it was goingto just be a one and done game
(54:13):
and that's it. You know, yeah, how popular it is, Yeah,
we'll just get three DLC Horizon.I mean, they had that one.
But it's not like it's not acosmetic DLC or you know, it's
it's a chunky DLC. Like it'sno I'm saying, I'm saying it's good,
but I'm right. But like Ithink nowadays, like Diablo four,
(54:37):
like the cosmetic DLC or Call ofDuty or most of games, the oh
here, give us five more bucks. Yeah, give us five bucks and
get get this costume and not thecheap pack or whatever. Like I could
see what he means by that.Like you can kind of correl like that
to like kind of like know whathe means or no what you're talking about,
(55:00):
but also like I don't like mostof those games enough to give my
money, so yeah, but thepeople that do, Like I get what
he's saying, like at the endof the day, like I get he
feels like I wish I could givethem, but you kind of already can,
right Like you said, there's youcould give the game to somebody,
and that's another way to yeah oryeah, or like buy merch in the
(55:24):
games company or yeah, it doesn'tmake any sense to even I just think
that would even send even more badvibes than we already do with games costing
too much. Yousoft came under fireagain because of the whole tying one uh
(55:45):
tying that one minute that Java Huttmission to Star Wars Outlaws, Right yeah,
like we already kind of have somany I get he's saying, oh,
they didn't nickel and dime me orwhatever, but okay, for well,
we're gonna give them money for that, like they can. They're doing
that because they can, because it'sfreaking Sony, it's a it's it's Larry
(56:07):
and they choose not to. Theydidn't want to make DLC right, like
it's a choice. Elder Ring. They did it because Ben and Namco looked
at the rest of their slate andgo, oh shit, we need some
of the things that's gonna bring inthe bring in the revenue. Right,
Like I get Like I think wetalked about this towards the beginning of the
year. If you look at Beanand Namco's sales and stuff like that when
(56:30):
they did the forecast after Elder theRing and how much it plummeted. Like
they're doing it because they know theRing will give them some money. Like,
let's let's be honest. It's notnot to be like, oh,
let's be cool to the fans.Yeah, I'm sure maybe the developers have
that idea, but come on,the publisher and frum Soft, they all
(56:51):
want to make money. Let's let'sbe honest here, all right. Yeah,
Mikey Barrow is a figurehead, andI get that, but I just
it to me just comes from aa weird place, h where, like
a lot of it kind of justseems like not great to say right now,
it's very much out of well, out of the norm, or like
(57:12):
it it's like the guilded tower thingor not understanding like the regular person.
Regular folks already think the games aretoo expensive already, and you know,
asking oh, hither ten percent tipor twenty percent tip, you know,
just based on how good it is. It's like, you know, the
game that should have been included, that it's already in the price, you
idiot, like exactly, you know. We there's been a story going around
(57:37):
about fou Flane's to seven reverse sales, right, and why is it not
selling that well? And and allthat stuff, and I and I think
about it and go, well, look at the economy that we're in.
You're asking seventy dollars for a gamethat has half the install base that remake
(57:57):
had, and that came out atthe end of the Piece for Life cycle,
at the heart of the pandemic, when everybody was at home playing video
games. It was the first one. People always buy the first one because
it's the most exciting, it's new, nobody's nobody. You can watch trailers
all day, but you don't reallyknow how the rest of that mid guard
(58:19):
section is going to go, like, what's gonna make this a remake?
And then there's a lot of peoplethat probably bought that game still not understanding
that that is one part of ayou know, multiple part series of found
fantsy seven and got mad that ohthey're continuing this. I'm not buying the
second game, right, right,it's too convoluted, it's it's too MCU,
(58:43):
it's whatever you want to call it, right. I think also we've
seen finn Fantasy seven. Foul Fantasygames in general have a longer tail,
right, So how many people boughtthat twin pack that came out that gave
away remake and for you to buyRebert like that thing was right? That
thing was charting by itself. SoI think we need to like cool it
(59:07):
too much on the whole. Ohmy god, this game is dude,
and all that stuff that people aresaying, you're not looking at it in
the context that four years later,it's a whole different spectrum of gaming than
it was back in twenty twenty whenwe were at the peak of why all
this is happening? Where you haveeven take two laying off people, the
(59:29):
people that make the people that publishand own Rock Star and Grand Theft Auto
six are laying off people they justbought Gearbox, right, and they're laying
off people. So I get thatthey said both it's a restructuring that they
were going to do before all theseannouncements and whatever. But still that stuff's
(59:52):
happening because of what happened in twentytwenty and twenty twenty one, and you
can't expect games like a second gamein a trilogy of games that people already
saw what happened with the first game, where they were giving it away,
so you would buy the second game, and then most people are not gonna
(01:00:13):
believe that junk that Square is sellingyou. That says, oh, I
don't need to know anything about remakein order to play this game. There's
no way you can play. Youcan play Rebirth if you just want to
play the game, but you're notgonna understand one fucking thing that's happening in
the game because it's continuation of thelast game. So I don't know.
(01:00:36):
I just I just think we're likeblowing that up. But going back to
the original point of it's it's IvoryTower stuff. Like you said, it's
very Hey, I can say thatbecause I've been there, But yo,
like you said, most people arenot gonna like this yeah, because we're
paying too much for games. Wetalked about it last week. Star Wars
(01:00:58):
Outlaws is insane. The price thatthey're asking for that premium edition. If
there's ever been a game more thanPrince of Persia was where I'm going,
Oh, where's that Ubisaw Plus?So I can sign up right now?
Uh and get that for like eighteenbucks, beat that thing in a month
and not buy the game. That'swhat I'm doing because I'm not paying.
(01:01:19):
Look, I get it, youdon't have to pay the one hundred and
twenty dollars version or one hundred andfifty dollars version or whatever. But it's
like, that's insane that you're askingthat much for a quote unquote premium edition
that you're tying a story beat intoto try to get people to buy it.
And yeah, well they only saidit was one one job of mission.
(01:01:40):
They're gonna be a whole bunch ofthem. But right, But so
you're doing it because they know they'llget people to get Yeah, well it's
given their track record of previous Assassin'sCreed and other crap. Like I wouldn't
hold your breath, definitely not.I wouldn't hold my breath either else,
I wouldn't hold my breath that thatgame is gonna go on sale really quick,
(01:02:02):
because they're probably probably will. PrinceBurs has already been on sale,
call them Bones been on sale already. I figured on when Prince of Perdy
hits twenty bucks, and I'll probablypick it up that that's exactly where I'm
at, maybe maybe twenty five orsomething like that, I'll pick it up
to. I really liked the Iliked what I played a lot. So
(01:02:24):
did I asking forty or fifty bucksfor a metro Zania of a I wouldn't
say it's an unknown franchise, buta extremely dormant one that at least in
that style, right, because itwas an action game of priorly, you
know, with with the puzzle stuff. So I mean you can make the
I mean people have made the argumentlike, oh, you paid fifty or
(01:02:45):
fifty bucks for Metroid Dread. It'slike, well, I care about the
the Metroids. Well, also asNintendo those are, that's not gonna if
you go out of sale. It'slike fifty bucks, yeah right, Nintendo
doesn't do big sales like that, right, so you might as well just
buy the game at launch, becauseif you wait, the most you're gonna
(01:03:07):
see it go down to is maybeon Black Friday. Yeah, it's usually
like the third party stuff, likeeven Octopath Traveler never went under thirty.
Yeah, that's what Travelers going aboutgoing for about these days. And that's
fine, but yeah, all right, moving from that whole business there,
(01:03:35):
you didn't Chronicle is also gonna itwill most likely have a sequel, as
what the dev team is talking abouthere, they were doing a red at
Ama and of course it's logical thatconsidering that your game is about to come
out, people are gonna ask youwhat's next for Rabbit and Bear. And
if you remember, we talked aboutit when it happened, Fortunately and very
(01:04:00):
sadly, Yoshi taking Mariyama passed away. Of course he's the creative sweakon in
as well and what this game isbasically based on. And they did say
that he laid out a plan forthere to be a sequel, like they
kind of already had ideas and thingsrunning for what would be a sequel if
they made it, And they're sayingthat they're moving forward definitively with one.
(01:04:26):
I mean, the game hasn't comeout yet so neither one of us have
been able to play it. Perse Yah the Air like, I hope
it does well sales wise, andit can generate interest in a new game.
I hate to say that I havemy doubts, but we'll see.
I definitely think there's been people waitingfor this. They've been waiting for a
sweak in Him for a long time, so yeah, one of them.
(01:04:46):
Yeah. If this game does well, I think, and it does like
capture the spirit of sweakon In,I think you definitely could see people,
you know, do go by itand support it. It help sits on
game Pass as well, so youwill get people to try it out even
and you know, if there wasn'tother games coming out around it, I
(01:05:10):
would probably buy it as well. But I already had to buy a tether
Blade, so you know, again, this is the whole thing about games
costing a lot. I can't sitthere and I think this game is like
sixty or fifty, and it's alittle cheaper to them, like a full
priced game, but still, Imean, I'm already buying a seventy dollars
game. I bought the digital DeluxeEdition because you get the outfits and stuff,
(01:05:34):
for Eve and then you know,to go and be like, oh,
I'm going to spend another fifty dollarsin the same week for another game.
That's not a lot of things peoplecan really decide to do, right,
Yeah, So, and there's othergames that are coming out that week
along with it too. It's notjust those two games, So there's other
(01:05:56):
options, other games that people arehaving to make those decisions on. Unfortunately,
hopefully it'll get enough good press andreviews and those kind of things starting
tomorrow that people will will be excitedand and then hopefully it generates sales and
everything. But good to see thateven with before we even get pre sales
and stuff like that, they're alreadyannouncing that this will continue, which is
(01:06:20):
a good thing too, right,Like so many games come out, I
know, people say that they wantgames to have finality or games to just
be won and done, but that'sreally not what a lot of the like
general outside of a hardcore hardcore gamer, will actually tell you they want to
see. There. It's like theTV show thing, right, A lot
(01:06:42):
of people won't jump on a TVshow unless they know that it's going to
keep going. That's the same thingwith games. I think like that he
wants he wants to the show tohave a definitive ending. Yeah, not
every show has that, or youknow, like you're cutting out so many
shows then that don't have that.So especially back in the day where you
know they would just cancel something becauseright they didn't have DVR other things to
(01:07:05):
tell you that, oh, peopleare actually watching this show. It's all
about what you watch live, right, So yeah, think about that.
But I'm glad that we're getting goodinfo about a Union chronicle here. Speaking
of games that are that are comingas well, maybe maybe coming. According
(01:07:27):
to a leaguer Madori on Twitter, who has a history of publishing information about
Atlas titles before they become actually known. Uh, he says that, or
this person says PERSONA one and twowill get remakes. To be safe,
I'm saying that we've seen it.We saw PERSONA three get the remake that
(01:07:53):
people wanted for a long time.It probably means that PERSONA four is also
getting a remake. Wouldn't doubt it. We know for SONO six is in
development somewhere. I would much ratherbelieve that PERSONA four is gonna get a
remake than one and two, especiallyone that is such a well, but
(01:08:14):
if they're remaking it, right, they can just remake them in the style
of Persona of five. Yeah,of what we're trying to do hopefully,
but like one especially has such awonky story and like good luck, right,
Like three, four and five areall kind of based on the same
you know, game engine for youknow, and like a story, beats
(01:08:39):
and stuff like that. One andtwo aren't at all. Yeah, those
were much more into the Shimigami tensevein. Yeah, I mean one is
the first person game, yeah, except for the battles, you know,
but like you're navigating like the schoollike a first person mode that sucks.
Yeah, so you you would haveto imagine if they are doing it.
That's probably one of those. LikeI wonder if they're they're probably not doing
(01:09:02):
like the full on I wonder ifthey really are doing like the full on
remakes or are they doing them togetherwhere they're gonna just release them together.
I don't know. I think theone thing they could do is that they
could touch up one, uh fullytranslate too, because Persona two is like
a really weird well, it's liketwo halves, right, they had two
(01:09:25):
different games for two, and likeAmerica only got like one half. Yeah,
so we got the Eternal Punishment andthen Innocent Sin never came here except
for the PSP version, right right, So different if they put both those
out as like a complete game, all right, I guess, but like
(01:09:45):
trying to you know, design thosecharacters or you know, design that world
to be. Like looking at likePERSONA five percent of three reloads that that's
a lot more of an involved processin person of four. Yeah, definitely.
I don't know how many of thehow much of the Peace Studio can
really be divided between are they doinga Persona four remake Persona six, which
(01:10:09):
you know is coming, they justhaven't announced it. I mean obviously that
could still be longer in development, right, these Persona one and two remakes,
and you got a whole other teamat Atlas working on that metaphour re
Fantasio that it's going to get abig direct of its own on Monday.
(01:10:30):
So yeah, a lot of Personastuff coming. Obviously being popular it helps,
but yeah, I wouldn't put itpast them to be doing it,
but man, it would definitely bea I guess the surprise at that point
if they are right speaking of surprisesreally quick. We didn't think that Keina
Bridge of Spirits was gonna come toXbox perhaps. Ever, it did come
(01:10:53):
to you know, it came toEpic gamestre and PS five PS four when
it released in September twenty twenty one. Then it can in the Steam a
year later after that big game sourcefacidity ended. But then it's like,
oh man, this kind of thisis like a PlayStation game, right it's
they talked about it could come toother consoles, but it's like you think
that, oh though this though tostay on foot, but apparently it's been
(01:11:15):
rated for Xbox, so I guesscool that Xbox gamers are going to get
that game. I really liked itwhen it first came out. So apparently
there's a game I just saw thisa few hours ago on an hour ago
called Vigor. Yeah, it's alike free to play shooter or online shooter
or something. It's on consoles.Came out on consoles like five years ago,
(01:11:38):
and now it's finally hitting like PCand it's like that's crazy to think
about. Yeah, took them allenough? What the hell? Like,
yeah, you know me don't seethat like not that long where you gotta
wait, you know, one twoyears okay, but right, but also
like, I don't even I nevereven heard of this game, so bigger.
(01:12:00):
Yeah I heard about it, likeI'd seen it on the store or
whatever, but I didn't, youknow really yeah yeah yeah, but hey,
if we're talking at pace pcports, ghost Sushima is coming soon May sixteen,
so in about a month. Andthe cool thing about gos Sushima is
that Paystition is going to finally getto reveal their overlay where you're going to
(01:12:26):
have access to all of your PlayStationtruck. Well, I will say you
have access to PlayStation trophies. Itcould very well be that they're not going
to just make them pop as soonas you start the gos Sushima director's cut.
They could be completely different from thePlayStation five or four versions and you
have to unlock them all over againfor PC. So just be aware.
(01:12:50):
They are going to support Steam achievementsand Epic Game Store achievements as well.
So that's cool. What do youthink about this, Like, does that
if you're a PlayStation knowing, doesthat entice you to maybe double dip or
whatever if your trophies are showing upon them not for me personally, but
(01:13:11):
if other people wanting sure, Idon't really can. I don't remember that
came having like specifically hard achievements,So I mean, I always think that
this is good. Like I lovethe fact that when you play it,
you know the way XBOS does it, where they transferred and all that stuff.
So if they do make that happen, I think it's great for the
folks that do want to double dip, or even the ones that are just
(01:13:34):
playing on PC if you're playing itoff Steam. I do think this is
going to eventually lead to there's gonnabe a PlayStation. Yeah. I feel
like this is the only way they'regoing to be able to justify closing that
gap. I hope it's not astore, that's the thing. I hope
it's just yeah, yeah, don'tmake it a store. Let it.
(01:13:54):
Let it still launch from STEE.I think they know better. I think
they know better, Like at thispoint, they have to they have to
be able to read the room andknow that people already have an issue with
the Epic Game Store, Like, and then you're gonna tell people that,
oh no, it's not just ohyou can buy it on Steam. I
guess if you want to, butif you want to get it first,
(01:14:17):
you have to buy it on ourstore. And it's like, I don't
know about that, Like you knowyou're going to run into that same problem.
People are just gonna wait for theshop. You kill a lot of
people buying it. So have yourlauncher. Everybody does, but don't speak
you like weird PlayStation wonkiness. Idid reinstall Remnant too, because the deal
(01:14:39):
see sit next week and the endslike you want to play something for ones
and installed it actually didn't install correctlyor you know, set it installed fine,
load it up, and like mycharacter was gone, oh wow,
really, what the fuck? Likeit was just like that's weird, Like
it said it had a character, but it was like a weird like red
loading like and I almost say Ithink the matrix or something like they're trying
(01:15:01):
to load a character but it couldn'tdo it. And I was like,
I didn't leave this character, Whatthe hell does this happened? I created
a new character for a second andthat character loaded up fine. So I
was like, is my save corrupted? I mean, what the hell?
Downloaded my safe from cloud and itstill was screwed up, and I was
like, God, damn it,I could to play this fucking game again,
(01:15:23):
you know, like wow. Andthen I rebooted my PlayStation and then
it worked, but I was like, yeah, that's weird. I rebooted
my system and then I was like, oh, Runnant two is installed,
and I was like, wasn't itinstalled five minutes ago? Like I could
get in the game at Yeah,so thankfully I still have my character.
But I was really worried for aboutfive or ten minutes. Yeah, that
(01:15:47):
would be worrying me too, ifI'm except I want to play that game.
Then I was like, oh,I got to restart this again.
Yeah, no, really quick beforewe get to the Nintendo Indie World thing.
I just saw this. What doyou think if Blizzard found a way
to add some life into diabom bymaking a Diablo TV show? Ah,
(01:16:11):
only if it's about Decard Kane, but a ninety year old pre stor whateffort,
I guess, But like, Idon't know, I'd rather have star
Craft or something like fun like Gobble'sexactly a fun franchise or fun property.
Yeah, yeah, Dieall's definitely notgonna be for the kids, I'll tell
you that much. I mean, not the Fallout is either but or last
(01:16:34):
of Us or you know, butyeah, I mean if you want your
mature like Dark TV, I guessyou know, Blizzard could maybe throw that
in there. I don't know theycould. I mean, if anything,
people have always liked the CG stuffwith them, or the most of the
(01:16:57):
story stuff. Yeah, I thinkit's telling. Yesterday, I actually did
pick up the this is an officialrelease, by the way, the Warcraft
three, uh, Diablo two,and StarCraft one Cinematic. Oh yeah,
yeah that box I wasn't a boxset. I mean, I know it
does come in a box set,but these are like the individual releases.
(01:17:19):
Oh. I was like, hey, for seven bucks. Why not?
Man, they were still selling thosein walmarts like many years ago, even
when when you had barely any PCdisc releases, they still had those there
in the game section. No,no, these are the cinematics DVDs.
(01:17:39):
Oh just a cinematic DVD. Okay, wow, yeah, these are like
DVD movies or you know, like, yeah, it's not it's not the
games already have the games and thoseagain. Yeah, you're just like the
twenty second long FMVs in the games. They actually like where did you?
Where'd you pick it up as this. I used Media Store, but I
think I think close are distill sawthe things on like their website for a
(01:18:01):
tifteen but but yeah remastered, youknow, because they just look like ass
in the games. But I meanthere's a lot of lore with like Diablo
and stuff, but it's not likeDecard Kane. There's not a character.
There's not like notable characters. Yeah. I mean, well you're making your
own character, right, so theywould have to kind of just right,
(01:18:23):
here's the Bespoke Sorcerer and the BesmokeWarrior and all that. Yeah, it'll
be like that our Cane show.Yeah I never watched, but hey,
Ella Pernell's in it now or youknow, he voices the main character.
Yeah, I mean that's the thing. They could do it like, it
could work, just will they havethat whole I mean it's the same thing
(01:18:45):
of like at this point with allthe animated shorts or whatever they've done for
Overwatch, they could have made anOverwatch like animated show and it would probably
would have done really well because peoplelove those kind of things. But I
don't know that's something Microsoft would reallyhave to decide at that point. But
the way it's it's been going. That's how you extend your your games at
(01:19:09):
this point is have some other kindof outside property that you know really pushes
that. Uh yeah, so itwould be something good for uh for them
to do. Even soether Blade didit with a They had a K pop
music video right to promote souther Blade. So yeah, get on a Blizzard
(01:19:29):
and Microsoft, I might want tothink about it. You've seen what it
does with the Fallout show, sowhy not? Right? But you know
Nintendo does these Indie world things forthe Halo franchise. Also, Oh well
that's one that I like. Definitely. Those people didn't get the Assignment Metal
(01:19:51):
Show, the Swister Metal Show peopleliked it, got a season two.
Well, so I mean yeah, but I don't know, like twits Amata
was way more better received than Halohas ever been, right, So but
uh yes, talking about the NintendoIndie World showcase, I have to wonder
(01:20:13):
how much how many more of theseare going to be there until we're talking
about the switch to But you know, hey, the one thing the Swiss
has been known for, uh inits lifespan is that it's the indie machine.
And you know they definitely showed thatoff here. I don't know if
you watched this or I watched youa chunk of it. I don't think
I watched all of it. Uh. I know people were pissed that or
(01:20:39):
not or but uh and it's like, yo, that is a Microsoft fucking
game. Like, well, it'sit's on game Pass, I know,
right, Yeah, I know it'llcome to switch, but it's not like
that's not like the first console Ithink I would think of Hollow Night.
Well, the first time we sawanything for it was another Xbox showcase like
(01:21:00):
many years ago, So you wouldthink that Microsoft probably has the marketing rights
or whatever to that. Yeah, and if anything, they're not going to
show up in a Nintendo showcase. They're gonna they're gonna show up. And
if they were gonna show up insomething, they might have shown up in
that Triple I one that we talkedabout last week or something like that,
not one done by Nintendo. Right. Yeah, So I think people were
(01:21:28):
kind of the same thing happens everytime Nintendo does it direct. They were
hopping themselves up too much for somethingthat was never gonna happen. So you
can't really be upset about something likethat. Uh, the stuff that I
guess stood out to me that I'mI'm interested in. Uh, that little
Kiddie Big City game looks fun. It's gonna be on game Pass. It's
(01:21:50):
releasing May ninth, which apparently likea bunch of different indies want to release
on May ninth, so have atit. I don't know if this is
a did this come out before PizzaTower or how this works Anton Blast,
but it looks very much like PizzaTower, maybe the same team. I
(01:22:12):
think comes out November twelve, andit's going to be a Time console exclusive,
so I guess this is kind ofthe It's very much the same.
So if you play Pizza Tower,it looks very similar, different you play
with there's two characters instead of one, different like backgrounds and things like that.
And there's a demo that's out likeright now. So if you like
Pizza Tower, go check this out, Go play the demo. And it
(01:22:36):
comes out November twelfth, so that'llthat'll come out soon. That Yars Rising
game, that's the new Way Forwardgame that's very much like a Size Forward,
very much like the Schante games thatthey're used to making off of the
they know they make the Rivers CityGirls games too. This one has like
(01:22:58):
a bit of a sci fi tingeto it, and there's a it's like
more like two five two point fiveD not so much the two two,
but it looks good. I'm interestedin it. They showed more that lower
line and the laser eye, whichI'm also interested in. That's the I
guess the next Anapurna joint also fromthe Smogo people, and that looks insane,
(01:23:23):
Like the story looks nuts, likethere's just so much stuff going on.
I love black, the black andwhite aesthetic with the puzzle stuff.
So that looks. Uh, thatlooks cool. What did you think of
the Ninja Turtles game? That's good. I mean it's turned out an iOS
So hopefully they fix the controls, maybe add some more stuff and be okay,
(01:23:45):
yeah this is the where where's Venusde Milo Everyone's favorite turtle? Yeah?
This is this is the roguelike gameof roguel like yeah game which,
Hey roguelike, that's co op.That's pretty fun to me. Still deal
with the turtles. So the wholebasis of it looked pretty cool and the
way that people like Roguelix. Wejust had the technical test came out for
(01:24:09):
haitiestu and people were loving that.Yep. So I'm hoping that the beta.
Unfortunately you didn't. I did likea very small subset or you know,
hopefully they have a wider beta soon. Uh and you can get into
it or both of us. Yeah. The other thing that kind of interests
(01:24:30):
me and this thing was that SteamWorldHeist two. Yes, that was the
one more thing for this, andI was very I love Steambell Heist one.
Uh, never thought we're going toget another one, so I I
wanted to like Steam World Heist one, except it had a problem of the
action was terrible. So yeah, that's fairy like it was remembering the code
(01:24:56):
named steam game. Yes, theswitch that came out where it's okay,
it's it's a strategy game, butthe enemies move and they're trying to add
it. They're trying to like aimfor headshots, but like the last check
in the enemy like ducks is headedtheir way, so instead of like a
ninety five percent hit chance, youget like a forty percent hit chance.
It's like, this is not fun, right, So i't believe they fix
(01:25:18):
that, but I don't have Thegame looked fine, it look decent.
Yeah, like, I really likethat they added all the the different stuff
in here with it. You know, it still has tactical turn based like
shooting stuff, but it also haslike real time naval combat to and all
the stuff that they're gonna add inwith like the story and and it's actually
(01:25:40):
a little August eighth, so thatit's coming out like at the end of
the summer. That's gonna be uh, that's gonna be great. It's out
there Europa, which got delayed. It's coming out later, but there is
a demo out today. That game. Every time I've seen it, love
the art style, loved just theadventuress of it with the different and stuff
(01:26:00):
that game. Let's second, it'sgoing to be enjoyable. So yeah,
there was a lot of good stuffin here, and that's that Stitch game
is interesting for the folks to likethose like puzzle games. Well that's pretty
much it for the So this weekgoing on to the UH, I guess
ending here we know what's coming.I forgot to mention that another one of
(01:26:25):
those games shown in the Isle reel, Another Crab's Treasure, comes out this
week. That's the Dark Souls gamethat's you're playing as a crab uh that
also has it's a sequel. Youdidn't know there's This is the week,
right, this is the week thatwe've kind of all been waiting. You
got that Tails of consorro Zoo thathas a lot of hype behind it.
(01:26:46):
That's gonna come to PS. Plusthe people are excited about as well.
I'm excited to try that out too. That comes out also on the twenty
third as well. So we mentionedready at Uning Chronicles Chronicle I keep forgetting
there's no S in that game's namehere. Yeah, and definitely that that's
(01:27:15):
going to be out in the twentythird, so you know, everybody go
play that. It's on game Pass. Check it out for sure, support
them, support those devs Evil definitelythey could use it. That TMNT game
is also out, the Arcade gameRats to the Mutants that also comes out
on the twenty third. That's outon everything, so play that as well.
(01:27:38):
The Saga Emerald Beyond game also comesout on the twenty fifth, So
if you've I talked about the demotwo weeks ago, yeah, go go
check that out. That's out onEverything. Too Many Lords on game Pass
that's out on the twenty six.The Sandland game is out on the twenty
six as well. If there's anybodythat knows a ban Dynamico UK PR person
(01:28:00):
dm me. I'm trying to findthe review code for one of my folks
at Last Word on Gaming and thenof course the other Blay that everybody is
waiting on. I already got it, it's preloaded. I'm waiting for that
game. I'm excited. That's gonnabe my next game that I'm gonna be
playing the heck out of. Yeah, it's finally here. Next week,
(01:28:21):
lots of games. I'll be talkingabout how Youidon Chronicle as well. Hopefully
Mark will have no rest for theWicked to talk about. Yeah, we'll
see and we'll see that will definitelybe new games for us to talk about
next week. Until then, thankyou for watching. I appreciate everybody that
(01:28:41):
does watch live. You can listenlater on podcasts. It'll be right there
on the YouTube feed immediately on demandto go subscribe there you'll get it whenever
we do the show. And weshould be back to the Friday episodes for
this week. So all right, until then, everybody, see you later.
