Speaker 1 (00:13):
You are listening to Video Games to the Max. Hello,
and welcome to another edition of Video Games to the Max.
I am your host Sean Garmer here with me as usual,
mister dark Morrison. This is episode four hundred and fifty
eight of the show, back on our regular Monday slot
here a little bit later than we normally do nine

(00:37):
to forty five instead of at nine o'clock, but it's
all right. Just to make y' all aware, we did
do an episode on last Wednesday. They cover that Games
Calm Opening Night Live, the Playstition five price increase, and
a few other things. So if you don't hear us
talk about that and you want to hear our thoughts

(00:58):
on that, you could definitely go watchid episode. It's like
not even forty five minutes, so it's really not that long.
But yeah, we're gonna be covering here. But I've been
playing Mafia the Old Country. Marcus finally decided to open
up that switch to and play dont Ykong Bonanza dea'd

(01:19):
be two K twenty five also on switch too.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Right, yep, okay into it.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
So yeah, we're both reviewing games here. And then also
some news. Pete Parts has finally left Bungee, So we'll see,
as you know, we talked about maybe not last week,
but you know a few weeks before that that so
many of themselves have said that, you know, Bungee is
not gonna be part of PlayStation for sure. So it

(01:48):
kind of feels like that final nail in the coffin
is dropping there. We'll talk about that, We'll we'll talk
about some other small things including finally night Folk song hasard.
All these date September fourth, and I guess we'll talk
about our excitement for that game and more. All right,

(02:10):
so really quick here, let's go ahead and get the
housekeeping out of the way. If you are watching the Slab,
we do appreciate you, Thank you so much. We normally
are there at nine pm etern doing the episode, and
if you subscribe to the channel, you can get put
notifications on you'll know when we do an episode. Also,

(02:32):
if you subscribe to the YouTube channel W two network,
you can also get our other big shows that we do.
Routes and broadcasting folks do most of the entertainment stuff
for us, so like the movies, TV shows, all of
that's they also do, like you know, some music things

(02:52):
and whatnot. They you know, and they only they don't
just do like the new stuff, even though they do
cover most of the time like the big movie of
the week or so. But you know, they also kind
of go back and review older things, like doing triple
features on different movies. You know, they've been reviewing The

(03:13):
West Wing lately, even going back and reviewing Stranger Things
since you know that's gonna be coming. That final season's
coming soon. So and speaking of reviews, I think nobody
does more reviews than the Otago Cafe folks, as they
pretty much review a lot of the seasonal anime each week.
Right now, you know, we're in the midst of the

(03:34):
summer season that's coming almost to a close. Now we're
getting to that final season, you know, the fall of
the year. You know, we're gonna get some more heavy
hitters there, and so yeah, if you love anime, check
them out. Of course, you can also subscribe to all
the shows just separately on podcasts as well, and you
can listen to them wherever they are podcasts, you know, Apple, Spotify,

(03:56):
iHeart Radio, that stuff. So you know, give us a review,
give us the like that stuff that helps out. And yeah,
so let's go ahead and I guess begin where we
usually do with our games that we are playing this week,
or for mark the system that we finally decided to
start using this week. How's your what's your initial switch to?

(04:22):
I know you played some obviously at a friend's house
when you know it was first out, but like, no,
this is yours.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
That was like ten minutes when I played at his house,
So right.

Speaker 1 (04:32):
This is yours. You're playing, you know, the Big Game,
Donkey On Bonanza and some other games. What are your
thoughts on switch to?

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I just like it, ah, for a few specific reasons. One. Okay,
the first thing is I have a HDMI splitter. Okay
that auto detects. You know, it's like my PS five
is ani will switch to that or if I switch
one is on, will switch to that. Ah, the switch
choosing impatible with it.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
Oh you can't, okay because.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I think the switch two has uh hdm II two
point one instead it is two point zero. So that
didn't work. So I had to use like the one
Like my TV only has two HDMI inputs, so I'd
use like the other one for the switch too. So
got to switch one into and I like did the

(05:26):
system transfer, which didn't really do much, like it didn't
transfer games or anything, just transferred to think.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
Safe, it's transferred save data. No, you have to yeah,
you have to basically reinstall all the games.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Right. So I put the Switch two in. I started
downloading everything, which is fine, and I started playing a
little Theater Rhythm because that's a pretty small game that's
like four or five gigabytes or whatever, so who cares.
And I played like three or four songs and it
played like fine, fine, Like, you know, I think it
played better than Switch one. You know, it was okay.

(06:00):
And then I took the switch to out of the
dock for a second, i'd do something, and I put
it back in and I went back to the menu.
I think I had like put in like my password
or I didn't just do something with it. And I
put it back in the dock and I went to
the main menu, and I was like, this looks like garbage.
What the fuck this happened? Uh, because like the menu

(06:20):
is all kind of blurry and fuzzy. Yeah, like maybe
I just didn't pay attention, Like maybe it was just
always like this, uh. And that's when I put it. No,
I took it out of the dock to put in
Donkey Kong, because I like, I should the physical copy
of that, and I put it back, you know, put
it back on the dock, and I'm like, this looks
like garbage. And then it started playing Donkey Kong, and

(06:41):
like I got like two minutes in and I'm like,
how come there's no audio? Like this is weird, Like
it says like punch and I like punched like the
wall or something, and nothing happened or like I didn't
hear anything, And I'm like, I'm betting there's supposed to
be some sound.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
Here somewhere, definitely Donkey kuk Ye.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
So I took it at the dock and like I
immediately heard sound and looked a lot better, like just
in handheld mode, and I'm like, huh okay, put it
back on the dock. Same thing. So what my doc
is doing. And this isn't all the time, it's about
half the time. If I put my switch to in
or if I like turn the system on, it'll default

(07:23):
to seven four eighty.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Yeah, you have to go in the settings and mess
with that.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
No, No, I did that already. Okay, there's a setting
for resolution that's like automatic or you can set it
to what you know, seven to twenty P, ten ADP
or you know four K.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, you can force it to.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
And it still doesn't.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Have you tried leaving it on automatic.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, that's how it was when it came out, or
that's how it started.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Okay, And what happens when you tried to force it
to the same thing?

Speaker 2 (07:57):
If it's already in the four eighty mode, I can't.
I can't change that menu option at all. It is
just does not work at all. If I put it
in the dock and it manages to catch correctly, then
it works like then it's ten ADP or you know,
I can do whatever I want and then I also
have sound, But that only happens on half the time.

(08:22):
And I don't know if it's the dock, the cable.
I don't think it's the hum my cable. I mean
the TV.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
Are you using the ACMI cable from the switch to.

Speaker 2 (08:34):
No, because they're all the same, okay, uh, And that's
a n't And that's a real problem because you know
what happens is that cable, you know.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
So it's definitely not your switch because they it doesn't
do that when you take it out of the dock
right yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Uh so, or if it's like the HDCP connection, uh
you know the heads it's like hands that handshake thing.
I'm like I said, it doesn't happen all the time,
it's only about half the time.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
I think it is that because I remember when I
used to use the splitter thing.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Yeah. No, the splitter is not in in part anymore
at all. It's not it's always dedicated h my aport, okay,
because it has to be right. Ah So yeah, it sucks.
Like the only way to really fix it is to
turn off the switch, turn off the TV. Uh, turn

(09:33):
the switch back on, turn the TV back on so
it's just like a gray screen, and plunk it in
and hopefully it catches correctly. But not always.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
Man, it feels like that's the stuff it used to
do to me when I use that splitter, Like I
felt like there was a I don't remember which one
of my systems there was that like I always had
a problem and I had to end up turning it
on and turning it off and messing with it right,
and then it would work and then all asod and
they would go to where like oh I wouldn't get sound,
or I wouldn't get this happening, And it's like, you know,

(10:05):
I don't know. I think it's something with the way
you have the all the stuff connected on your TV, because.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Again I don't Yeah, the TV is connected to the dock,
that is right. I mean I have a different I
have a splitter on a different h team my input. Yeah,
so it's not that. So, yeah, it sucks. Like I
have played a good chunk of Donkey Kong Bananza. I'm
up to SL thirteen hundred, okay, which is pretty deep. Yeah.

(10:36):
I like thirteen levels in or something. And I like
the game What's Up Cube with some caveats, but yeah,
like not being able to like have the switch to always,
you know, at the drop of a hat, be working correctly.
And also I think it's really dumb and obnoxious the

(10:58):
way they can't use it to switch one controller to
turn the thing on.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Yeah, that's that's the main reason why I ended up
getting the switch to for controller because I got I
got annoyed with it. I got tired of having.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
The way the way I turned to switch to one
is I was half lifted out of the dock. I
looked it up enough in place plunk it down and
then it turns.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
On the only The other option you have also is
to just remove the joy You could put the joy
cons into the grip and then just have the grip
next to you. That way you don't have to like
do the whole lifting it out of the dock thing.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Well I'm sitting I'm sitting two feet away from it anyway,
I mean.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Yeah, I me. My mine's more annoying because I literally
have to like get behind the TV behind my desk
and all that stuff.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Oh yeah, yeah, No, I completely boxed up my switch
one and that was an exercise and frustration because it's
like a huge rat rat smester cable behind my TV
right and you know, trying to find you know, it's
certain cables and ship It's like, oh god, I.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Keep forgetting to give it to and I have mine's
in a drawer right behind where I'm sitting.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yeah, so did you How did you beat Bonanza yet?
How far? No?

Speaker 1 (12:13):
No, I haven't played it in a while ever since, Like, yeah,
I'm probably further than you then, or we might be
in the same area. I don't, I know, I got
past that like where like I'm in where you have
to make that choice of the forest area and they.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
God, I'm way past that, okay, so your way. I'm
like like Paul Win got knocked off me and I'm
like in jail.

Speaker 1 (12:45):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah, like all five animals unlocked.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Okay. Cool.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
So I like the game more or less. However, the
one thing I really dislike about it are and unfortunately
there's a lot of them, are the bright levels, like
the beach level or the ice level. And the reason
they suck is because you can't it's hard to differentiate

(13:14):
like the background from your sonar or handslap thing. Okay,
and I can see two light colors against one another,
like blue and pink or purple, and it's like, yo,
I can't see half the stuff most you know.

Speaker 1 (13:30):
Yeah, because the sonar's clear, like a clear color. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
Well it's like it's like light pinkish or purpleish, but
like against a blue background or like yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
You're not gonna you're not gonna see it very much.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Yeah. So, like the first two levels of that game
I really disliked, and it wasn't until I hit the
mine cart or like the mind level that's like the
third one, when I'm like, okay, now I get this,
because like I'm handslapping and I can actually see like, oh,
there's some fossil down the way, you know, I can
just bust down, do it.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
I think I really didn't even realize that I did.
Wasn't using my sonar until I got to the mind level,
So maybe that's why I never.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
That was kind of like to me, that was kind
of the first skull I unlocked, was like, extend the
range of this thing, because I like, yeah, why wouldn't you.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
Like I was just smashing stuff, so I was like,
I'll just find things. I keep smashing things, and then
I was like, oh, Okay, this sonar thing actually helps
you find them.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
I'm also I also am using them, like the clothing
to the tie or whatever. That like, yeah, makes treasure
chests appear more frequently or like kind of just randomly,
and you like this bust up a bunch of shit,
So that's cool. Ah. I think Pauline's wife actresses like
a really good job for like I wouldn't say she

(14:49):
does like a little, but like she's like the only
like speaking character in the game pretty much yea, And yeah,
she does like good work for like not being like
a voice actress or not like you know. I think
she's a musician or singer or something. Uh yeah, I
think the game overall, Like I'll okay, I'll keep going

(15:12):
at it, assumeing my TV can cooperate.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
And you haven't played a handheld at all? No, I
don't want to, m okay, that was just asking. Yeah no, no,
like I thought it plays hand.

Speaker 2 (15:27):
I'm sure, but like that's not the you know, I'm
already in front of the TV, Like, who I would
I want to play in handheld? They're gonna put it on.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Your laying in bed or something or.

Speaker 2 (15:40):
No, my bet is four feet away from the TV.
Like that doesn't matter to me, all right, fair enough.
And the other game I'm playing is w W two
K twenty five. Ah. I have two specific issues with it.
One is they gave me the like ultimate code or whatever,

(16:01):
you know, whatever digital superversion they always do. But still,
like I would say at least twenty percent of the
roster is locked, well maybe like fifteen to twenty percent.
It is like really weird. It's like whoa, Like okay,
and I think I have a fixed flight to point

(16:22):
in that game or in that franchise where they need
to dumb it down. Why well, I got stuck in
the training mode, like you know, the like figuring out
how to play or you know, do this mode or
do this move, and you know it's like everady OF's
training mode. I could not figure out how to do
a handstand like like a springboard hit because like the

(16:48):
instruction was like, oh, run at the ropes and like
right before you touch them, like attack back or like
do an attack. You know, character will like automatically do it.
I I spent twenty minutes trying to figure out how
to do this thing and could not do it, And
like I shouldn't have to pop up a YouTube video

(17:09):
multiple YouTube videos to figure out what the hell to do.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Ah, And I though there's no pictorial game.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
No, the editorial is just like yo, like this is
the this is the input, and I was doing that,
but like my character would either like stop or just
kind of bounce off like in like a really awkward
looking animation. Yeah, and there's no like input guide or
like you know, like this is what you're doing wrong,

(17:39):
like or timing anything.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
You know, there's nothing in the game and it tells you,
okay you can do this with with this or.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
No, no, okay, I mean there's always like a very
basic not count wall control when you pop up in
the pod screen, but that this wasn't even there because
it was in the training. So it was like, right,
use like our bead of running the rope and then
hit why right before you connect. And I was like, yo,

(18:07):
I'm doing that and nothing's happening. And then I finally
managed to do it once, and then I like the
next attack because it did like four moves in a row.
It's oh, do these four moves and you'll complete this lesson.
So I did that once. The next lesson is really simple, ah.

(18:28):
And then the third lesson was get on the rope,
get on the not the ropes, but the ring. What's
the You're like outside the rope, you're still on the apron.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
Yeah, okay, like the turnbuckle, well.

Speaker 2 (18:42):
Not on the corner, but just on like on the
apron of.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Okay on the apron. Yeah yeah, okay.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
And it was like okay, ah, like dive off with why,
and I was like okay, And I did it like
five or six times, and I didn't like they do
it initially to show you, like what the movie is
supposed to look like. I think, right, and I couldn't

(19:09):
do it at all. And I watched YouTube video and
I was like, okay, because the guy on the YouTube
video they did have like an input a controller map
up kind of and it was just like press you know,
just press or pressal y or B. And I'm like, okay,
I'm doing that, but I'm doing like a jump, not
a dive. And I was like, what the hell. And

(19:32):
then like I got to the point where like the
the opponent was was supposed to be outside on the ground,
and I so watched his positioning. He was like way
out there. So I hit restart and it restarted back
to the first lesson and I had to spend another
fifteen goddamn minutes doing like one springboard dive off the

(19:54):
you know, off the rope. I'm like, oh god. And
then I finally figured out for the third one, I
had to run on the ring apron itself, which is
not a ton of room there. You know. It's not like, oh,
here's twenty feet for you to like position yourself up.
It's like, no, you got like eight feet and that's it.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Yeah, That's It's always funny how they have the workout. Yeah,
I remember a springboarding you said, it was like a
pain in the ass to try to do.

Speaker 2 (20:23):
Yeah, those and it's like, why do you like, first
of all, how many people are actually using this system
like and also like it's not making this more realistic
or you know, like really yeah, and then the roster
and that thing is like insane.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
That's always the case with the Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
But like I would say half of Sam's you.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Know, well, I mean that that's kind of the ww
at right really, And.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I showed you the picture there's a every year there
was too, like, oh, this is a triple as from
like nineteen eighty four, just two thousand whatever. They have
a Bailey model from twenty twenty. I think that Yeah,
looks like I fell out a PS two game, like,
and it's like you may want to retire this, Like

(21:11):
this is not making her look good or you look good.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
So why do you have I think it's retro They
hope that people don't really notice or whatever, you know.

Speaker 2 (21:22):
Or no, because they have like she looks her specifically,
she looks like a creator wrestler character. Yeah, And it's
like don't you have I'm sure there's footage somewhere of
Bailey Bailey from twenty twenty like that you can cut
off well.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
I mean I think that's the thing is like they
can't scan her, you know, I know what you did
back then.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
That's fine though, because they have other wrestlers they just
have like an image of like, you know, Hulk Cogan's
in the game. They don't have you know, they don't
have Hulk Cogan from you know, nineteen ninety three. I mean,
it's a picture of them. You know.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
There's always gonna be those ones that they pay more
attention to than others. And then also there's times where
like even like the Rock has looked terrible, you know,
and he's supposed to be a you know, a major,
like you're always gonna want people are gonna want to
play as him, and it's like he looks like just
absolutely you know yeah. And it's so there's always this

(22:21):
weird stuff with that where it's.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Like, you know, so okay. Also, so there's Logan Paul
is in the game right, uh.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Who he's a major character right now?

Speaker 2 (22:36):
Who is the other guy? K s I is in
the game right wearing a big Prime Energy drink like yeah, zoom.
And then there was like a Prime Drink matchcot unlockable
character yeah. I mean I'm just staring at this. I'm like,

(22:59):
it's ww funding Prime.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
Like, did I know it's because Logan Paul.

Speaker 2 (23:04):
Okay, I realized that. Yeah, it's not like okay, he's.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
He literally has Like if you ever watched one of
the shows or especially the pos, Yeah, they have like
a whole thing of Prime next to the announcers at
all times.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
That's that's what I was asking, Like that seems like
that's disgusting to me.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Well, I mean now they have they do the uh,
the like soccer thing where they put the logos on
the actual like ring and everything else.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
And yeah, even like even like it like one of
the rings, like it was a SmackDown ring. I had
to Prime.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
It's just them. They are. They wore themselves out to
whoever the hell. I mean during WrestleMania, and I don't
know if they do it on I haven't watched like
one of the Big Pay reviews in a while, but
during WrestleMania, for sure, they have like every match is
sponsored by somebody. Yeah, so that's ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (24:09):
I get that for like the TV show, but like
the game seems especially weird, you know, and it's it's
also funny because I remember, like back in the day,
they would like have to censor out see im punk
PEPSI tattoo. Yeah, it's like yeah, okay, Uh, the game

(24:29):
itself is fine, you know, it's what you expect.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
How does it run on switch to? Is it worth
people getting if you only have switched to?

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Or I guess, I mean I don't know who. I
don't know anyone who who that is though, Like I
can't imagine a person who's like a guy a lot
of kids. It wouldn't wouldn't appeal to kids because it's
too complicated control wise, like I shouldn't have to like.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Okay, let me let me rephrase that teenage who don't
have their own income to buy other consoles and only
have switched to.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
I guess no, that again, that that's not a person
who exists because if you're like a sixteen year old,
they're gonna have a PS five or at most an
Xbox because you're not gonna want to pay called doddy, right,
I mean, if you know you need WW two K
five on the go, then I guess it's like your

(25:26):
only option, right, like realistically because the Steam deck gonna
run it well probably, but that's it.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
It's always remotely.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
Now because fighting games don't work with that, especially if
for like this thing where like timing is actually like crucial, right, like,
forget it.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
I agree with that.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
And the last thing I bought or the last thing
and you know, fuck the switch to I got the
real console. It's called a super famicicomb. Okay, it is
a I bought this with this weekend. It is a
Japanese hotel, Supernintendo.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Oh wow, that's cool.

Speaker 2 (26:14):
So these were Superintendo's I mean you could. You should
like google it because you can see what the hell
it looks like.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
I was hoping you would send me, Okay, should have
told me beforehand. I would have had a picture pulled
up already. Okay, So you said Japanese hotel, superintent Okay,
I A.

Speaker 2 (26:31):
Can this message to you now? But so yeah, it
is a.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Damn it okay, super famic combox.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
Yeah to check Facebook. It is like this big metal
box black box that looks look like an old Dell
computer kind of or like it looks like some old
like nineteen ninety seven computer. It has a hole in
it for two controllers, super Hindo controllers. Ah, and it
was in Japanese hotel rooms and you could like rent

(27:07):
it or you could like rent the key from the
front desk to uh. Because this thing, this thing has
like a timer built into it for like two minutes
or of play. Ah. And some of these had a
coin box as well, so he has to keep putting
money into it for it to keep running. Ah. But yeah,

(27:28):
it's a Superintendo with like three built well. It has
these a big cartridges, like I think they're like Neo
Geo but bigger. Like it's like the biggest cartridge you've
ever seen.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Ah.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
And it is the first cartridge.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Sorry if you're not if you're listening on podcasts, yeah
it Yeah, it's basically a markubscribe this big black box
right with a hole for the controllers and I'm guessing
the cartridge goes in there.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
As well or no, the cartridges are behind like the
face plate. You're not supposed to get access to them.
So the first cartridge has Mario All Stars, Star Fox
and Mario Kart on it as well as like the
bios to run this thing, okay, and then there were

(28:26):
there's an additional cartridge slot and each of the other
cartridges are the cartries only have two games. I have
the one that has Donkey Kong and Tetras too. There's
another one that has Donkey Kong Country and Super Bomberman.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
And you can't buy those separate. You have to buy
the box with them in it.

Speaker 2 (28:46):
Yeah, well you had like buy from Nintendo. But yeah,
and the third cartridge has Majong and three super Golf
for some golfing thing you need like two keystacks, you
like open up this thing at all. Like that's like
you I suppose like people aren't like meant to get into.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
It, right. Yeah, it makes sense because they don't want
you to take.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
It, right. But you know I was you know, hotels
have gotten rid of this thing. You know, it's just
falling into people's hands. There's like three hundred bucks. Okay,
I'm trying to get keys from locket. But yeah, it's cool.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Hey, yeah, that's cool. I mean that I was talking about,
like a collector's one of them. I don't think anybody
would have said, oh, I have a super I mean
that's not something you see a lot of people like
I have a super Famicom box right old games and like.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
The funny the funny thing, well, one of the funny
things like mine isn't like it's an okay condition, but
like part of the face plate on, like one of
the sides is kind of cracked off because like they're
super brittle plastic, and it's also thirty years old, So
what do you expect? Yeah, and then gonna say it

(30:03):
is just neat. You know, it's heavy, but you know
what's cool?

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Oh yeah, I was gonna ask you how is it
because some things are big and bulky, but they're not heavy,
you know.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
No, this thing like it's like native metal or you know,
this is like substantial, Like it's not like unlooktable, but
it's abot at least twenty pounds or you know, fifteen.
I mean it feels like you're like, you know, hoisting
up a desktop computer. And that's like the other thing
I was gonna say is pricing on this is super
weird because price Harden has as like eighty bucks and

(30:41):
I'm like, that is not possible. And I got mine
for three hundred, and there's one in eBay for like
seven hundred and ten. Oh it's like, yeah, I guess.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
That one has like all aims in it or something.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
No, that just has like the regular two cartridges I
mean and like the cartridge itself, Like the eBay price
on one of the cartridges is like two to eighty
for like the Mario Kart cartridge, which that's like you
need that cartridge or else this thing doesn't work at all. Yeah,
so yeah, that's cool. I gotta get the keys to it.

(31:16):
So yeah, it has the top two parts like their
keys on the top left and top right corner. Once
you unlock it, you can actually like pull down the
face plate to like get the into the internals. And
then the lower right hand corner is another key hole
that that's like we would like rent out get from

(31:37):
like the hotel, because like in the off position the
timers on, but in the on position minutes off and
there's like another service key.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
What happens with the timers on it like lockside of.

Speaker 2 (31:49):
No, you can play for like two minutes and then resets. Okay,
so yeah, yeah it Actually it also does have like
a demo mode where it'll like you know, it has
like yeah, not video but because it off the cartridge,
but like the thing plays itself. Oh okay, but yeah,
this is a little cool thing. And like the guy

(32:11):
abought it from he was like kind of far away.
It was like half hour forty five minutes. But he
had like an insane collection of like random crap, you know,
like a lot of Tetras stuff because he said he
was a big Tetris fan. Uh. He had at least
six arcade machines in his basement. H like the candy
Candy Candy cad like second like Japanese arcade ones. He

(32:37):
had a big, a reasonably big RPG collection, like Square RPGs.
It it's like, have you ever seen those Millennium edition
Squaresoft games?

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Yes, I've seen a few of them.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
Yeah, uh, we have millennium collection. He had the one
for Front Mission, but he said he also had like
more as well. Yeah yeah, and yeah it's cool. And
also the last funny thing is the controllers. They're just
super hinded controllers, but they have like super long chords

(33:19):
because this is supposed to be in a hotel room.
So yeah, it's basically like what you were talking about
earlier with that, like don't you ever play the Switch doc?
It's like no, because I'm four feet from my TV.
But like if you're in a hotel room that you're
twenty feet away from or fifteen feet right, these controllers
might be able to reach that.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
Yeah, okay, I can see and they that hole definitely
will have all the into that.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Right, Yeah, they kind of shove it in there like
a little rats nest. Also, yeah, what are you playing?
All right?

Speaker 1 (33:52):
I mean so really the only thing I've been playing
is Mafia the Old Country, right, which you know, look,
I think people that are mad about this game or
just finding stupid things to be mad about, they delivered
on everything you want the game to be. They said
it's going to be a shorter experience. It is a

(34:14):
shorter experience. I'm not done with it. I think I'm
probably like halfway two or something.

Speaker 2 (34:21):
And I mean, yeah, it's also not a full price game.
So people bitching about like the lane your fifty bucks.

Speaker 1 (34:28):
But it's people that like they wanted to have all
the accouterments of right, you know, a full price game,
but be fifty dollars. And it's like, dude, it doesn't
work like that.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
You know.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
It's you've got to give. Something has to be given
to be you know, to get that fifty dollars price,
and you know, and and or taken away to get
three dollar price. So it's like this is a linear narrative, literally,
a linear you're not gonna you can explore a little bit.
It's I'm talking about you know, you're gonna go go around,

(35:04):
and it's pretty much like an open zone. It is
not open world, right, And even then the game doesn't
only want you to do that, right, it's it's really
trying to push you to, Okay, go talk to the
next person, go go do the next thing you're supposed
to do, right, you know, it's not they they basically decide, okay,

(35:25):
we're gonna go back to square one and and do that.
And I think they accomplished that really well. The story
is tight, it's good. I'm enjoying it. You know, I
don't have a ton of experience with Mafia itself. I'm
gonna play like some of the first one, but you know,
I love Mafia movies and all that kind of stuff,

(35:47):
so it intrigues me. I love that story. My family's
has it Tian ancestry, so that has always, you know,
intrigued me in that way as well. And I've been
Italy before. This is all obviously said in like sicily
and way back in the day, so like it's you're
literally you're you're either riding horses or you're I have

(36:11):
to use the car that has the crank where you
have to crank it up to actually get it to
go or whatever.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Right, so patrol yet I have what said, have you
mess with FIA patrol? Yet?

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Not yet?

Speaker 2 (36:30):
But you know, you know, you don't know the reference
to you? No, no, no Golden Girls, okay, okay, one of that.
The mom character would always say like, oh, I'm from Sicily,
the old country.

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Yeah, I don't go that deep, and I watched a
lot of Golden Girls. I don't remember all the reference.
So no, I don't think the game is bad crafty.
I think the game's good. Look, I you know, I
think Expedition thirty three and Mafia are two different things.

(37:04):
The way that Expedition thirty three cuts corners, it's different
than the way that Mafia cuts corners. Exhibition thirty three
is really not It has the world map, you can
go where you want, but there's not really what they
did was they cut out you know, narrative. There's no,
there's not like, oh, let's go on. There's some there's

(37:25):
a few of them, like very small. I think there's
like two or three that have like narrative tied to
the cyclists. The rest of the cyclists are You're going
to go to this thing beat the big boss, and
that's kind of it, right. Or you're exploring the area
to get to find the boss.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Right.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
The painting puzzles, you're you're going getting to the end
of that to be able to get to the boss eventually. Right.
I think Mafia is just they cut out a lot
of it, and I think it does work that way.
It's just I think people that were expecting something else, like, oh,

(38:03):
let me get Mafia, but shorter that that's they didn't
go that rong. I've been enjoying it.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
You know, people that are complaining about not having swimming,
physics and all that other stuff, they're just finding something
a bitch about.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
But they have been playing open world games that didn't
have swimming there.

Speaker 1 (38:22):
I mean it technically it does, it just doesn't let
you swim. So it's like, you know, you go play
about that.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
And also like they didn't like front As this game
having like some day ethic city to explore her country. Yeah,
they they starting the get go like hey, this is
a smaller game or small.

Speaker 1 (38:38):
And it's about the narrative. It's trying to get you
back focused on the narrative, which that does well. Again,
it's not a gros. I'm not saying this is a
Game of the Year contender. It's not that, right, it's
a good.

Speaker 2 (38:50):
Like as someone who didn't like the open world and
Mafia won, like that's probably had a bad thing.

Speaker 1 (38:54):
Like yeah, and they were trying to cut you know,
because you got to think about like Mafia three was
just way too much, right, so they they kind of
just okay, let's go backwards. Maybe a little bit too
much for people. And I can understand that. I do
see how it does where I like, the knife fights
kind of get old after a while, right, the riding

(39:16):
on the horses is it? You know, if that's not
your thing, that kind of gets old after a while too.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
Like yeah, like yeah, do you want to what do
you want to have a game that has four times
a bunch of length. It's doing the same dumb shit.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
Over and over, like right, That's what I appreciate is that,
like we're not sitting there, tell let me yo, go
do the same find five things quest or go over here,
accomplish absolutely nothing. And oh I went and uh, got
a little got a different car or something. It's like,

(39:52):
you know, you don't always need that, and I think
people that love those, you know, there are many open
world games out there for you to play. Again, I don't.
This is a seven game. You know, eight if you
like the story a lot, I'm not talking about this
is a Game of the Year contender. Ten out of
ten game. I think. I think that's fine, right, And

(40:13):
I've seen people give it sixes or whatever. I think
that's fine too. That's however you want to rate it.
I just don't think it's at that rate. But it's
not that much better, and that's fine. There's okay to
have those kind of games. Those games deserve to exist.
Not everything is going to be either a ten or
a three or whatever. I'm glad that we can have

(40:36):
games in that you know, middle area. So I'll see
if I can make more progress and hopefully beat it
by the time we get to next week second write
that review, and especially with a game that I'm definitely
going to be checking out here that comes out tomorrow,

(40:56):
I want to be able to give myself space to
revisit that against It's been a long time stuff played
Gears so I'm not.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
Going to say Hell Divers too.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
Now that I know that the ADST thing is not
anything story based. It's all skins. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
I knew that, I that I knew it's just gonna
be like, oh, here's a dumb helmet or dumb emblem.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
I just don't know. Like, I guess I could play
with you, but like I don't aside from playing with you,
I don't really. It's not like I have a bunch
of people that I know that are going to be
playing Hell Divers where I'd like, I want to buy
it on Xbox just to kind of stay like I
did my part and all that, but you know, I
don't want to. I'm at the point where unless it's

(41:41):
like deeply discounted at like twenty ten dollars or something
like that, I just can't do that anymore where I
buy a game that I know I'm never going to touch, right,
you know, unless it's like a seam cell where it's like,
you know, five bucks and here we go, you know whatever.

(42:01):
But yeah, that's uh, that's mafia there. I guess. Let's
get into the little bit of news that there is.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
The major one is obviously. This happened like the day
after we did the other episode the Hall of Ze
Soak Song direct ish thing that they announced that the
at least say it is pretty much very soon every
day week on September fourth, we're gonna get Hollowite Hook Song.

(42:36):
A lot of people are going back and playing the
first game to get ready for Soak Song or are
you interested in this at all? How are you?

Speaker 2 (42:46):
You have to catch up on the lore? Uh? Not really,
I got I played the first one. I didn't beat it,
and it kind of bounced off. I kind of just
like lots interesting halfway through on this thing.

Speaker 1 (42:57):
Yep, what made you lose interest? Nothing?

Speaker 2 (43:02):
I guess I didn't didn't like a lot of the
like abilities or like unlocking, or I just felt like,
oh and I get like a backstab or not. Now
I get like this isn't place, so like the map
is a consane, you know, even for like because it's
not like one of those like grid based maps. So yeah,

(43:23):
I think it just kind of got lost also or
like want me to go back to do something and
I don't know where this is.

Speaker 1 (43:28):
So just seeing that map already, there's yeah, frightening me either,
it's just like, damn, it looks like they quadrupled the size.
I will give it a world being on game Pass
and all that, but you know, I'm not a metro
Vania person. So unless it like does the unique thing

(43:54):
like the way Prince of Persia did where that got me,
I probably will bounce off, I expect, but we'll see
when we get to that point. But yeah, man, this
is the game that so many people have been waiting
to know. When is this coming out? Is it coming out?

(44:14):
Are we going to get it this year? And finally,
I mean not only that, but I mean Xbox isn't
making it a big deal about it. It's going to
be available on the rod ally whatever when it comes
out and all that. So yeah, now they can todd
that it's coming to game Pass and you can play
it here pretty soon. Speaking of game past and all,

(44:38):
a little bit more news, we did talk about that
it's coming October sixteenth on last week's show. They did confirm,
after they've been kind of, you know, being coy about it,
that this is a hand LBC. It will not natively

(45:01):
run Xbox games that are not played anywhere or have
some kind of PC variant, so you know, uh, you're
gonna have to remote play those games. Unfortunately, you're gonna
have to stream them one of the two. So honestly,
I think that that even though they they haven't officially

(45:23):
announced the press and they said it has to do
with the whole market conditions all that stuff, they don't
want to reveal it. But again they're I forgot who
was this time that rumored that the regular Xbox ally
is going to be I think like five point fifty

(45:46):
and then the big beefy one is going to be
still the close to the nine hundred right range, which
is still really expensive. I think not how having the
native Xbox games, And the thing is, we don't know
if this is ever going to happen, right We don't
know if there ever is going to be a native

(46:08):
Xbox handheld right. Well, I think, yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (46:14):
What they're trying to build. The Xbox happen to being
like they should make an emulation layer like that sort
of run natively on whatever you add.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
Right, And that's fine, But I do think that at
some point they need to do exactly what they did
with FPS boost and the like backwards compatibility stuff. You
need to go and try to figure out a way
to make way more of these games be natively working
on the system, and especially like there's no excuse for

(46:44):
first party like first party games, you should have all
the first party games, aside from obviously the ones that
have been delisted or whatever like force ors and for
things like that, but like they should all be working.
There's no excuse for that not to be played anywhere.
If you're gonna make a big deal, I'll play anywhere.
Then any first party game that I own should be

(47:05):
able to be played on the Ally. Now, I'm gonna
be honest, I'm not going out and buying the Ally,
the Xbox Ally thing. Maybe if it goes on some
kind of a deep sale, uh you know, then I
would think about it.

Speaker 2 (47:21):
It's when they finally announced blinks the times reperson natively
running on it, that's gonna be. That'll be you buying
a day one No.

Speaker 1 (47:30):
I mean, there's rumors that they are trying to get
an emulator to get the Xbox X plus three sixty
games to work so that they can work with you
having game passed and then they'll recognize them and you
can play them on the cloud and all that stuff too,
and You're gonna be interesting if they this makes it
to where we finally get that cloud only game pass

(47:52):
tier as well when this finally releases, so we'll see.
October sixteenth is not that far away, so we'll see
what they announced when this finally does come out, So
I'll be interested to see what happens with that. I'm
sure more details will come out as as we get closer.

(48:15):
It's like I think we talked about last time, they
are trying to do the whole like letting you know
if it's gonna work well or not. The verified thing
lack Steam Deck, so.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
Yeah, they can't held optimized and mostly compatible, right.

Speaker 1 (48:34):
And also should have talked to us when we talked
about Switch Too, but Eldon Ring apparently doesn't run well
on switch Too. And they actually didn't allow you at
games Com to capture footage.

Speaker 2 (48:50):
Right, Yeah, there is some footage out there, but it's
kind of like leaked stuff for like you know a spy,
you know, hidden camera footage.

Speaker 1 (48:58):
Yeah, exactly, they have a a camera that's here and
the PR person doesn't know that it's recording, so.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
Ignore the red light exactly just means it's off. H
This is not a huge surprise to me. I don't
know why. It's I'd blown people's minds, but it's.

Speaker 1 (49:16):
Because the system just came out. People are kind of like,
holy crap.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
Man, hey, I don't know if you've noticed Tony Kong
Bonanza also has some performance issues here.

Speaker 1 (49:25):
But they said that that's expected because of all the
destruction and stuff, okay, and the Vauxhel graphics, and there's
going to be some slowdown, but it's not like this.
This apparently goes down to like twenty fps at certain points,
and it's like, for some people was very unplayable and
hand mostly it's handheld, right handheld's the issue. And for

(49:45):
a lot of people like you that you don't play
things handheld, that's not a big deal. But for people
like you know, say me or other people that are
they want to go play this on the plane, or
play this, you know, somewhere on the couch while you know,
you're your significant other or your family watches something on
the TV. You know that that affects your your gameplay there.

(50:06):
So I do see why people are up in arms
about it, because like the whole point was, Okay, this
is supposed to be new hardware, like there shouldn't be
a question about at least at this point, maybe like
two or three years down the line, or especially once
we get to like PlayStation six and Xbox whatever, then okay,

(50:27):
we can go back to the whole Okay, is this
gonna work well or not? You know whatever. But it's
crazy that we're talking about games a game that didn't
this run on PS four. Yeah, Like, man, it's having
problems not great, so.

Speaker 2 (50:49):
I I mean, yeah, but I just see it as
like a problem, you know, like, yeah, I just wouldn't
have expected beg Like you know, I say, like irypunk
kind of running well is a marvel in and of itself.

Speaker 1 (51:03):
But but they got a lot of time with it
as well, right, Like Cyberpunk was like one of the
few third parties that got I mean yeah, that's early
and everything.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
Right, So yeah, like that's a problem.

Speaker 1 (51:16):
But ben I Nemko, you we know that they did
because they work with Nintendo on a lot of other things.
So that's not I don't know, is it a frontsoft thing?

Speaker 2 (51:26):
Is it a I saw the funny well, I saw
the story from the ends. But because I was trying
to not convince him, but questioned him why he didn't
get that Medagar Solid three Delta game. I thought he.
I figured he would, right, And it runs worse than
the PS five Pro than the PS five base model.

Speaker 1 (51:47):
They haven't optimized for it yet.

Speaker 2 (51:49):
Probably Yeah. I was like okay, Like I was just thinking, like, hey,
I can start it. Fine. I kept my PSI Pro.

Speaker 1 (51:57):
That's not a game that I would, you know, go
crazy about, like, oh man, I think it's gonna look
so much more awesome on the P side pro. Like,
I'm just happy that it got remade.

Speaker 2 (52:08):
It also dips to like twenty frames per second during
the explosions. Yeah, so I don't know. I think people
are awake, wait, like unless it's like I mean, elden
Ring is how it could adversely affect like your actual
performance in the game. But most of the stuff, I

(52:28):
was like, I have a dip, who cares? Or even
it runs at thirty like, as long as you know
it's not like horrible to play, like get over it.

Speaker 1 (52:38):
Yeah, we'll see, yeah what happens with that, But just.

Speaker 2 (52:43):
Don't go outside and Eldon Ring will be fine.

Speaker 1 (52:52):
The I'm gonna going kind of at older here, but
I guess this wirlvidy on the Nintunnal thing again. Uh,
there is a rumor in Nintendo, which I thought the
last week too. They always have Nintendo Direct in September, right,
that's not really a surprise. I guess it's more of like,
now that we have confirmation that Kirby is the November game,

(53:15):
it feels like we're just kind of waiting for them
to say that Metroid is the it's gonna release like
that day or later. Do you think that they could
possibly shadow drop Metro Prime four?

Speaker 2 (53:32):
Possibly, but I think it would leak ahead of time
because you're gonna have physical versions of that game out there. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (53:42):
It's gonna be interesting too, like are they gonna well,
you mean reviewers.

Speaker 2 (53:47):
Like stores you know, like best Buy or whatever. You know,
they'll get it like the week before or few days before,
and then they hey, I guess we're just in the
back room.

Speaker 1 (53:56):
Yeah, the same thing I have with switch To. Of course,
they could also just uh say it's coming out next week,
the week after or whatever, just to people that are
trying to guess that it's going to get shadowed off
to not not like Nintendo hasn't tried to outdo leakers
or whatever in the past, so I'm just trying to

(54:20):
think of like we pretty much got you know, they
they showed off more Pokemon gameplay footage now, so if
they do is direct, I would imagine that it's more
forward facing, right, you know, like I don't I don't
think we need another I don't we don't need a
deep dive on Metro EID or so I would hope

(54:43):
that it's more looking towards Okay, here's coming, here's what's
coming in twenty twenty six. Is there anything that you
really want to see come out for switch to? You know,
I guess out of the major I mean, for me,
definitely three D Marico needs to hopefully is that that thing?

(55:05):
So we know it's coming. You know, you know it's coming,
but it's like you want to see it, right.

Speaker 2 (55:11):
I don't know. I wouldn't mind a new wave race.

Speaker 1 (55:15):
That would be cool. I'd be down with that, right
or wait?

Speaker 2 (55:19):
I mean, as they always ditch and moan about at
Stereo need something new, It's like, howbout an at Stereo
wave race crossover?

Speaker 1 (55:26):
That'd be interesting?

Speaker 2 (55:27):
Why not?

Speaker 3 (55:27):
I mean, or like a really good idea or like
a real Star Fox game?

Speaker 1 (55:35):
Would they do it? Would they try star Fox one
more time, see if it catches on with the switch
to I.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
Mean it's only been thirty years since or you know,
twenty eight years in s Alaska Star Fox game, so.

Speaker 1 (55:50):
I mean, yeah, I can see that definitely. I can
see Wave Race because they definitely seem to be on
a like racing game kick with like Crevier Riders and
Right Car, and they made sure they have zero there
at launch on the you know GameCube stuff for Swiss tuos.

Speaker 2 (56:06):
So yeah, or like Metroid Prime two and three HD,
like that was like the way the rumor for like
the past few years. It was kind of yeah, it's
already done, Okay, why isn't it out? Uh? Next question?

Speaker 1 (56:21):
You know, like yeah, It's just it's crazy to me
that like Metro Prime Force coming before we ever get
a whiff of too, like it's only been rumored, right,
It's only been like Jeff Grubb and others just going right, oh,
two and three exist.

Speaker 2 (56:39):
That's why I don't believe most of these rumors, like
again the Switch one h you know, the promo or
pro model or you know, it's dint come out.

Speaker 1 (56:50):
I don't know, man, It's just part of me feels
like the switch to. Really you could say it's almost
like a switch pro.

Speaker 2 (56:57):
Sure it's just yeah, but it doesn't have the name,
or you know, it's not right compatible or you know.
So now there's always rumors about a certain Nintendo.

Speaker 3 (57:06):
Crap that Princess HD. That thing is Maro Galaxy too, Yeah,
would that.

Speaker 1 (57:16):
Get like there's gotta be a reason why they didn't
put that in right our collection thing? Right, like right,
you know, is that getting remastered? We'll see, Yeah, there's
h are they going to show off like what monologue
Saw's been working on? They apparently got some new RPG

(57:37):
that's not zonibly related that they're working on. So yeah,
I'm gonna be interested. Hopefully it is more new stuff
and not so much like, oh, let's have twenty minutes
of more ports that are coming to switch to, Like right,
I don't want to You've already had a third party showcase,
like if you're if you're having a separate Nintendo Direct

(57:58):
pull on Antendo Direct like forty five tenty minute thing.
I really hope it's mostly more first party Steffan than
third party.

Speaker 2 (58:07):
That's an extream.

Speaker 1 (58:10):
Well, we'll see for sure what ends up happening there. Also,
we have pards and riding six is location might have
got leaked thanks to Australian car importer. Whoops yeah, whoops,

(58:33):
so not something you want. Uh so culted Classic are
the people that put out the tweet. They're like, uh,
you know, Australian like car importer and yeah, man, it
looks like it's gonna be set in Japan. Yeah, which, Hey,

(58:56):
I'm totally down with that. Man, give me give me
Porza in Japan, Like, I mean I have played a
lot of five but yeah, yes.

Speaker 2 (59:07):
And no I'm not I'm gonna post it. But my
concern with like fours in Japan would be like, how
much is it going to be city focused versus out
in the countryside, because Tokyo is a big as city, Like,
I mean.

Speaker 1 (59:25):
They showed with Mexico that they can do.

Speaker 2 (59:26):
It right, they doesn't have the city.

Speaker 1 (59:32):
Side Mexico City.

Speaker 2 (59:35):
I mean, you're not going to compare that to Tokyo.

Speaker 1 (59:39):
No, I'm not, but I'm just saying it does have
a city like that you can frame it around like
you know, so right, agreed, Fonte, The New Halloween game
looks pretty sick, but not you You raised good concerns
about that. I just I think they've shown that they

(01:00:00):
know how to go between both.

Speaker 2 (01:00:02):
I mean, I'll just be like some fictional version I mean.

Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
Or yeah, for sure, it's like a futuristic version of
it too. It's not.

Speaker 2 (01:00:10):
They're not gonna want, you know, if it's Tokyo or
if it's japant I would kind of want. I don't
want to say draft drift racing, but like drag racing
might be cool, uh, like that old dead for speed
game most like one of the most wanted I think, okay,
or just like less emphasis on like timed specifically timed

(01:00:34):
activities or timed races, because that's what kind of dragged
down four to five for me basically, since like the
PC version didn't run right.

Speaker 1 (01:00:46):
Yeah, as we'll see what changes they make. I'm sure
you're not the only one that's brought that up, right.
You know, they did have the free room stuff, so right,
it's gonna be interesting how they do that with with
Japan and what they put in what they don't. Also,

(01:01:06):
the Gears of War movie that he probably forgot was
being made. Yep, the credit scene was excited about it.
Of course, this is uh, you know John Wick and
Dedbell two director Deadpool, Deadpool too. Director David leachs, Yeah, production,

(01:01:28):
you know, Gears of Wordy dates have to come out
next year, so and this is supposed to be with Netflix,
so we'll see what. Deferently it's not going to come
out with the Day or anything like that.

Speaker 2 (01:01:41):
Oh yeah, I mean I didn't expect that. Let me
ask you this, do you think this actually happens? And
I say that not because I'm negative, but because like
remember last week, I mean we did the podcast few
days ago when the Rodford gets gonna talking about BioShock
and he's like, oh, yeah, that movie is still happening.
It's like what really, Like, you guys are still going

(01:02:06):
along with that?

Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
Isn't there an issue with like the director or something
like that not too long ago that we talked about
about it.

Speaker 2 (01:02:15):
That thing is like so cursed, it's like why, you know,
why bother? And you can make a movie about the
making of that, that movie, you know, Like.

Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
I think it happens. Yeah, I think they will. There's
a reason why they not only development time, but I
think also they're trying to push Gears E Day as
far back as possible so they can try to get
both right. Have the new Game and then have the
movie and get people to be like, oh, Netflix, new movie.

(01:02:48):
And then there's a movie. Cool, I'm watching it, gets
a bunch of rave reviews people like, and then go,
oh man, there's the New Gears. I can play this
right now and it's on game Pass. I don't even
have to buy it. Great, you know.

Speaker 2 (01:03:03):
You know, my hope for this movie, I don't really.
I mean, they haven't announced casting at all, which of
course they wouldn't. My only requirement for this movie is
they cast not as not as Marcus Phoenix, but they
cast John DiMaggio's Adam Phoenix's dad, because I'd be really funny.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
Yeah, would that'd be cool? Casa.

Speaker 2 (01:03:28):
He's too old, that's I mean, that's the problem. Like
a decade ago or fifteen years ago. I mean, that's
the thing, you know, And that's the first iteration of
this movie. He was like thirty five or maybe you
know forty of that. Now. Yeah, he's at least fifty five,
I think, Or I mean that's the problem. Is he

(01:03:49):
you know, it's yeah, it's fifty six, and like, hey,
he looks pretty good for fifty six, but he don't
look like thirty year old Mark, you know, Marcus Phoenix,
or you're not gonna get Terry Crews to play whatever
the dude's name is in that game as well, because
yeah's too.

Speaker 3 (01:04:08):
Old now Oh okay yeah cold cold, yeah, yep, yeah, uh.

Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Just be crazy, get Terry Cruise to be Terry Crews
in the movie.

Speaker 2 (01:04:24):
I mean, yeah, he's fifty seven.

Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Yeah, I know, I mean like this old dudes.

Speaker 2 (01:04:29):
And right, wait when when Marcus is yelling, oh, come on,
he's talking about his back, you know, like right, yeah,
I read this. This isn't related to this, but I
read this is many years ago when like I think
it was when Alice Madness returns mm hmm was kind
of like being announced. But I guess Sarah Michelle Geller

(01:04:52):
wanted to be Alice and like an Alice film version,
and she was thirty one, and it's like, hey, you
are officially too old for this character. Like I love you,
don't get me wrong, but you can't adequately play a

(01:05:12):
sixteen year old girl anymore.

Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
Yeah, unless they were gonna have Alice like age up
right whatever to to have it be weird or you know.

Speaker 2 (01:05:24):
Right, which defeats the purpose because Alice is supposed to
be young girl not approaching middle aged woman, right, Yeah,
but I don't know. Maybe it'll come out, maybe it won't.
You know, we'll see.

Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
I think it does. But yeah, like you said, it's
these projects either come out or they go into development
hell and then you find up the end of getting canceled.

Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
The real question is how are they going to get
Chris Pratt to play off work characters in the in
the Echo Squad.

Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
In the sect. Yep, that's what's gonna happen, That is the.

Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
I mean, I guess for the one guy who wears
a mask, it'll be easy, but the other three it
might be a challenge, especially Cole.

Speaker 1 (01:06:15):
They'll spend the money to have it all right, like
like Eddie Murphy.

Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
Exactly, Robert or from Traffic Thunder.

Speaker 1 (01:06:27):
All right.

Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
Aside from that, we have a few other things.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:06:31):
The other probably bigger one is uh, Pete Parson's leaving yep, bungeee.
It's kind of like the last hurrah of he was.
You know, he got a lot of flak for the
the whole collecting cars and kind of not showing for

(01:06:56):
the rest of the those that were getting laid off
from the company. Yeah, kind of like Okay, Sony's taking
over now. They need fresh blood, right and kind of
having whether he's deciding to leave on his own or

(01:07:17):
he's kind of being pushed out or whatever, it kind
of is the necessary thing at this point, Like Bungie
needs to change from that mentality of the executives kind
of doing whatever they do.

Speaker 2 (01:07:33):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
Everybody else is working their butts off on the expansion
and everything and you know, like right the ship, so
that maybe this will help Marathon as well. You know,
but he's been around for a long time.

Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
He joined Bungee in two thousand and two, worked as
executivetier on Halo two and three, and then he wound
up being a CEO starting in twenty sixteen. He's been
there almost ten years to see you, right, So uh,
you know that's a that is quite a bit of
a time for a tenure for that.

Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
So I mean, yeah, I guess, but like the problem
is his tenure hasn't been the greatest. Like that's I
think Destiny two started off pretty well and they had
like one or two good expansions, but right, look at
like the buzz and that came now or you know,
I think they just released an expansion a few months
ago and no one cared and like.

Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
Yeah, you wouldn't know where I mean. Also, I think
Marathon not getting that bad press, it leaks bad press
into Destiny two as well. Right, kind of nobody wants
to hear about Bungee right now, and right it's not great,
not good for you. But again hopefully now like that,

(01:08:54):
Sony's kind of taking over and saying, okay, you're a
PlayStation studio. Now let's get focus on what makes you
know Destiny too great. Let's get Marathon correct. We can't
have another failure like Concord and uh, one of these

(01:09:15):
things got to start hitting, right, yeah, to justify the investment.
So yeah, hopefully this helps the studio and and gets
a better like morale going with that with that team too,
you know, right if it if it makes it better
for everybody there, then that's the important part in the end. Uh.

(01:09:41):
A few last few things here, Mortal Kombat Legacy Collection
is officially adding more games. That's cool to know that
this this thing is gonna have more games in it.
So along with Mortal Kombat one, two, three, Ultimate, three, four,
this is also gonna include the Arcade Consolant handoversions of

(01:10:02):
each game, and on non play rollback neck code you're
gonna get Mortal Kombat Mythologies, sub Zero and Mortal Kombat
Special Forces.

Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
Finally, two Mortal Kombat games everyone's been clamoring for.

Speaker 1 (01:10:17):
So sub Zero was on PlayStation one and the sixty four. Yeah,
Special Forces was also on PlayStation one. Zep Zero came
on the ninety seven, and Push Force was in two thousand.

Speaker 2 (01:10:32):
And Like, sub Zero is a bad game, but at
least it kind of looks like Mortal Kombat from like
a distance. Special Forces is like a special form of
like terrible, because you know there's bootstraped Son and Bladant
a really bad third person action game. I guess maybe
even like top down or it has like some weird

(01:10:53):
controls or like camera system. But do you think they're
just like key zine shalloon monks man.

Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
You know, if you're gonna include these games, that's the thing.

Speaker 2 (01:11:09):
You monks, like, who the fuck cares about you know,
mythologies or or Special Forces.

Speaker 1 (01:11:16):
But if you're gonna say this is about the history
of Mortal Kombat, you gotta have Shalon monks in there.

Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
Okay, if it's like the history angle that's fine, but
you don't it makes some special posts about it or
like announcement, Hey we got two of the worst world
combat games in this thing. It's like no, you say
shallowin Monks, and then you also say, hey, you know
that net code for the you know, the fighting games
that's also included. You can finally have online co op
for this guy.

Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
And they could also add like DLC to it, right, I.

Speaker 2 (01:11:45):
Mean, well, like Shalon Monks. The two starting characters were
Luken Kung Lau, but like Scorpion and sub Zero were
in the game as like mostly playable, and then kind
of people like hacked out that there were supposed to
be like more characters in the game. Ah, that like

(01:12:07):
were unfinished basically I think like cables in there somewhere
or like a prototype version of them. I mean, they
could do that, but even just like, hey, here are
the four characters, sub Zero, Scorpion, Kung Lu lu King.
Here you go. Great, that's all I need. Yeah, Like,

(01:12:29):
I know you're you're more up on like the recent
spat of two D platformers like threet Thrade four and
that yeah Turtles or like you know, Scott pogram Won,
But like, no, I want shown Monks because I want
to go three D three D brawler.

Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Well, plus, it's like it's a game you have fond
memories of with Moto Combs, right, this is really fun, right,
People that aren't fans that like are fans of the
characters but are not, like they just can't play the games.
They can play that, right or.

Speaker 2 (01:13:03):
Do you think what they do is they have they
just say, uh, subserve or mythologies and types of forces
and then they announce like Mortal Kombat three D Anthology
where it's Shawn Monks and then all the PS two
era Mortal Kombat games. Yeah, but like for is still

(01:13:25):
a problem because Forest technically three D, but that's the
who cares.

Speaker 1 (01:13:30):
I definitely think that, like because Mortal Kombat has so
many games, they definitely are maybe thinking about, Okay, let's
extend this with DLC.

Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
Yeah, just like Castel Vania Mega Man.

Speaker 1 (01:13:40):
Yeah, because they've done that with like the Atari thing, right,
they've had a games after the fact.

Speaker 2 (01:13:46):
Yeah, so I don't know that games. I think it's
gonna be like a new a new product. You guys,
like there's a different I mean, there's a difference between
you know, Hunter megabyte arcade file or even a snatched
Mortal Kombat rong is a one megabyte versus shoolin Monks
which is like two point four gigabytes or something like

(01:14:07):
that's more liable to put that on a new DVD
or Blu ray. Like here you go, right, there's a
new fifty dollars product for you.

Speaker 1 (01:14:16):
Yeah, last thing here, just because you know you'd be
soft that's been doing some things. They've announced. Then a
new mode for a Division two which is Survival Distraction
Experienced Division two Survivors, and it has to come out
next year twenty twenty six. You know, it's kind of

(01:14:39):
like in the they didn't really talk that much about it,
but what do you think You think this has some
legs here to have a survival distraction experience of Division two?

Speaker 2 (01:14:52):
No, because the Division already has that bullshit. It's called
the Black Zone or the Dark Ye. Yeah, so like
who cares? Like I like the Division for like as
story based content or you know, at least the first
Division game like them going like, hey, we're stripping all
that nonsense out of it and it's just going to
be you going to and your buddy is going against

(01:15:15):
another team team at jackofs and whoever gets their gear
out first wins. It's like, okay, why do you play?
This is any other game, you know, any other game
and already in the market, right, So I don't know, like,
you know, I don't think that Heartland game was necessarily
going to be a great idea either, but at least

(01:15:36):
just you know, progress the storyline or you know, I
would hopefully tell something like it's because they said have
had some PV stuff in it, Like this sounds like
all PvP stuff, which is something I don't like.

Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
Yeah, that's fair enough, I mean, yeah, hopefully somebody ends
up liking it, right.

Speaker 2 (01:16:00):
You know, I'm still surprised that the division is still
going on, you know, it's still getting content that's a
ten year old game now, or at.

Speaker 1 (01:16:07):
Least after they killed that what was it, the Freedom
Land or.

Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
Yeah that's the heart the Heartland.

Speaker 1 (01:16:15):
Yeah, Like I feel like they they're just having to
justify putting right, you know, content in it to get
people to keep playing. So right, all right, Uh that's
pretty much it here for this week.

Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
Last thing was we always do ends it on the
games that are coming out this weekend. Boy, do we
have a lot of games coming out, and this week
before we do another episode which will be on Labor Day,
so you know, enjoy your three day weekend for people,

(01:16:54):
they get to celebrate that, I don't them working. But yeah.
So you get some small things like Vlad Circus and
The Curse of Asmodius, which is a point click game
coming out to everything, and then you also have things
like Gears of worre reloaded, bringing Gears over to PlayStation

(01:17:19):
for the first time ever, which is still insane to
think about. That's also coming on PC as well. Got
Hell Divers to also coming to Xbox, the first aside
from and will be the show the first Sony made
thing Sony published thing coming over to Xbox. Will there

(01:17:41):
be more? I guess we will find out if that's
the case or not.

Speaker 2 (01:17:47):
Published.

Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Yes, yeah, no, we'll see. Quartet is a really cool
like old school style PC turn based RPG that's coming
only out on PC. It's supposed to come to consoles later.
I'm definitely kind of looking into this looking forward to it.

(01:18:09):
That was one of the big games that that like
RPG JERRPG showcase thing that haaven't you have the story
of Seasons Grand Bizarre which to some people might say
is the I guess better version of Harvest Moon. I don't.

(01:18:31):
This is like the legit like they used to be,
the the actual developers of Harvest Moon. That's coming to
Switch to PC and Switch you got the d v
X showns games coming out of PC that's looked really
cool as well, Curving the Forgotten Land and the star

(01:18:54):
Cross World also coming to Switch to and Middle Greve
saw adulta Snake Eater coming out to every you know
PS five, Xbox and PC. Super Robot Wars why that
series is still crazily existing and it's you know, one
of the some not a lot of them have not
come over here at all. So it's really cool that

(01:19:16):
we're getting you know, a version out on PS five
and Switch NPC. I'm very happy to see that. That's
a cool thing. I'm still wishing, hoping and everything that
Navy one day a Project Zone three will happen. Who knows,

(01:19:37):
I'll just keep dreaming. At that point. The Night Ling
also comes out on Everything as well. That's a cool
little indie game. It's RPG as well. Lost so aside.
Also August twenty ninth, we'll finally get to see if
it's everything is cracked out to be or is it

(01:19:58):
one of these that's kind of like middle of the
road after it had some hype behind it and I
was kind of hyped as well. Shanoby. Art of Vengeance
also out on Everything too, that's getting some really good
reviews after you know, Ninja Got and Rage Bound came
out as well, and Kaiju Naberat the game coming on

(01:20:22):
a mobile also on August Study first, lots of stuff.
There's gotta be something for somebody on that big list
