(00:36):
it's a clear expedition Claire Obscure Expedition thirty three virtually
a sweep and like I thought, much more here right
after this. All right, so really quick here, let's go
ahead and get the housekeeping out of the way. If

big movies and mots. Gep up with the TV shows
as well and stuff. So check am out Rouge for

(02:00):
broadcasting as well. But yes, let's go ahead and get
into the Game Awards. What we thought of it here?
So that big picture, what did you think of the
Game Awards this year? As far as like I guess
pacing and and you know, the announcements, the flow of it.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
I thought it was mostly fine. I thought like the
first half was like markedly better than the second one.
I agree there, Like I think I had more good
announcements and it just just really flowed better. It was
weird to me how many celebrities were at this thing, like.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
That shows the growth of it, right, like they just.

Speaker 2 (02:42):
Yeah, but it's not I mean, I'd rather have like
game developers announcing shit. Now you know the dude who
was in h the what's his name? Damn it? The
Double seven game, the Pirate guy musician.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
I can't think right now, right you're talking about but.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Or you know David Harbor, Like, I mean, I guess
he said he's going to be involved in that world.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
I mean I mean, I mean he at least he's
like a gamer is.

Speaker 2 (03:28):
You know, like so so yeah, that was about it.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
I mean it's still way better than like when they
had the Rock on there doing nothing essentially, you know, or.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Like the whole cast of in the movie. It's like, Okay,
I guess, but like.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
I was fine with that. I think that's more of
showing of like hey, I got to have the whole
cast here and it's a video game movie. It's not
like he's you know, just having them out here because
he can do so right, it kind of makes sense.
And they made a joke about the window Chromet movie too, So.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah, that'll go over.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Good.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
I thought. I personally thought that tree for the trailer
like looked bad. Yeah, or it looked like a lot
of cosplay, ah, like at least a certain character that
I should say, So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
I think.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
I thought this is probably the best paced Game Awards
for sure, like as far as the flow of it,
and you know, just they didn't take he didn't take
too Like it felt more like, Okay, we're getting to
the announcements, we're getting to the awards. The awards weren't rushed,

(04:47):
We're not you know, pushing people off the stage. Yes,
it's a lot of it helped. It maybe helped that
you had a lot of the same people because it
was Claire obscurits Betish with thirty three people on their
for the majority of these awards, right, and the one
award they didn't win, they he did it in one
of those like really let me do it quick things

(05:09):
or bad ifil won the audio design one, so you know,
and then some of the other ones that you know
they weren't involved in obviously, but still I thought the
awards were done well, probably the best that he's he's
done them, like where it feels like you're giving them time,
but it's also not like overly. Also it helps I

(05:32):
think that people understand at this point like this isn't
about like taking forever to talk either, right, right. I
think that the announcements, I think personally for me, I
was I was wishing perhaps there were some that you know,
weren't here, like I really don't know why Scureen has

(05:53):
told anybody to watch this, uh this this game awards,
because there was nothing here for them outside of you know,
Claire Obscurer winning a lot, which okay, fine.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Did they did thinking back, did this query show anything?

Speaker 1 (06:08):
No, they didn't, like Okay, it was really I know
there was like a there's some kind of like collab
between them and Exhibition thirty three. I think as far
as like art, okay, I mean yeah, so, I mean
that that might have been why why they were mentioning
at all for the people to watch it, outside of
probably giving them props for you know, he gave soccer

(06:31):
Ucci props at the end when they won the game
of the Layer. So you know, I think it's one
of those where for the most part they did a
great job. But I think they did have a lot
of cool announcements. I don't know what you thought about
they announced its overall.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Yeah, I watched out like four or five things that
you know I'm interested in or that you know that
to me, right. I don't know if you did that
too or not, But.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Yeah, no, for sure, I think the the one that
like I was like, okay, never expected in the world
we're going to have another type of like Star Wars
racing game, right, Like Okay, this came out of like
totally nowhere. That's awesome to me.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
It's the other that didn't surprise me necessarily, just because
like like the original trilogy or like that, you know,
the prequel trilogy. I should say, there are people like
that like that now ah. And you know, a racing
game is a lot easier to make than like action
adventure game or RPG or something like that. Right, But

(07:44):
the surprising one it was that forsit uh is it
fad in the Old Republic? I think that's what it's called.
The other Star Wars game.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yes, the Fighter that probably this somebody being then a
Casey Hudson, Yeah, who you know again, No, I don't
think anybody had any idea that he was doing a
you know, coming back to do Star Wars game after
doing the Nights of the Opublic, And like that's pretty
awesome in itself that he's apparently kept up with like
the Star Wars team like this whole time.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
And you know, well, it's funny because I thought, like
Kis didn't watch the Awards show, and I was kind
of telling him like bits and pieces, and I was like, oh,
new Star Wars, you know, Koch War game. Basically, what
like why do you care who cares? And my response
was I kind of do, because like Knights of the
Old Republic is like the one thing that kind of
care about Star Wars with.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Like, yeah, Like at first, I thought it was maybe
the Quantic Dream game, you know.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
I thought it was going to be like Jedi's Survivor
three or whatever, you know whatever they call him, that third.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Game, right, Oh, that too could have been that, you know.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Ah, but yeah, I'm excited for that, assuming you know,
it's good. I mean, they did say single player RPG,
which is good.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Yeah, that too, the Raider. They announced Trader Games, a
remake of the first game, and then a new one, Catalysts.
I thought that looked good for what you know we showed.
I don't. I mean, all of that's kind of like
you know, cut scene.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
I think the Catalyst game looked good. I think the
other one looked a little goofy, uh, just because like, well,
two reasons. One, it's the second remake of that original game, right,
and also that original game is goofy. Like there's not

(09:46):
dinosaurs in any other fucking Rumator game, you know.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
I mean, I guess with h while you still have
a Jurassic Park doing things. Why not.

Speaker 2 (09:59):
They brought diamonds backs just like oh in this Valley,
dinosaurs of like just still kept going on.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
Yeah, but I mean, like you know, I guess what
I mean in it is just the fact that that
they're still kind of making it. Uh, those are still existing,
So I guess why not kind of try to bite
off the hype for that a little bit.

Speaker 2 (10:22):
Also, yeah, they have they haven't named her, so I
don't know who's doing it, but like the new voice
actress for Laura sounds a lot like Hayley atwell, the
one you know, the actors who did it for the
anime series, So.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
That would be spot on if it's if they if
that's who they got to do it, So I mean
that's great.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
Yeah. So I always thought, like, I mean, she's too
old for it now, but she would like that actors way,
she would have been a really great Lorier Craft like
fifteen years ago. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
But yeah, Control to getting announced too, that was well,
it's not technically control, it's a control resident, right. They
didn't give it the number two, but still it continues
the Control story, which is awesome and of itself that
that is continuing. What do you think.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
For two reasons. One, it's interesting that Jesse is kind
of positioned as a bad guy. Ah, that's probably not
going to be the actual case, but I imagine it'll
be like, oh, she did this for some reason that
you'll discover in the end, or it'll be like Jesse
got copied by the by the Hiss or whatever, and

(11:38):
that's the actual bad guy. Right. But the second thing
is that game is a lot more combat oriented than
most of their other games. Like it looked like a
Platinum Games game for example, you know, like.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
They really did focus on that a lot. I was like,
I missed some of that rather because I was doing
like for the first hour, I was on the Outer
Haven's like live stream there doing a livestream of this,
and then I had to go right back to work.
And then immediately when I was switching back and forth
starting to go back to work again off my break,

(12:17):
that's when they showed the trailer and I was like, really,
the one game that you showed during the time that
I was on that thing that I would have gone
crazy about. It's what I'm not paying attention so right,
But yeah, I'm just happy that that gaming is out there, exists,

(12:40):
and it's coming next year.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Yeah, I think it gave it a pretty firm release date. No, wait,
they I don't think did it for that one, but
a good chunk Games had really firm release dates, like, hey,
this game's come out in April or whatever. So that's cool, right.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
Uh. They also, you know, speaking of action, they showed
uh it was leaked, but we got the confirmation that
Leon is going to be in Resident Evil requiem. Uh
he will be the action star of representing essentially the
action side of Resident Evil, while uh, you know, Miss

(13:19):
Ashtroft is going to be doing uh the suraval horror
aspect of it. I don't know. I wonder how they
You have a kind of an idea, you think how
they're gonna switch that off or like half the game
and half the game or.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
No, it'll be like chapters. It'll be like or I'm
expect the first hour or two will be like the
Miss Ashcroft stuff, like kind of setting in the groundwork,
and then after that you'll play they could chunk his
Leon and then it was kind of alternate between the two.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Yeah, I was kind of excited. It looks like what's
gonna be the bad Who's going to be the bad?
Guy in this game.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
You know too that it's not Brad.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
That's good. I just hope that, like.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
I imagine there will be some chapters where like you
play as Leon, but Ashcroft is there with you as
your partner. I hope she's not completely useless or like
she doesn't get captured or like, you know, like she
can't like.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Yeah, don't don't be resideval for especially, you know, that's
not fun. I would think not like they did say
that she is gonna be the you know, she's not
used to survival games. She doesn't. This would be her
first like expedition of this type. So you're kind of

(14:43):
playing the game alongside her experiencing that, right, And I
hope that that's we can definitely channel that through her
and all that. But I agree with you if there's
ever times where they're sort of like leaking up to
get other in the chapters that you know, it's not

(15:04):
like oh, girl in peril, right, and you know, hey,
we have to do that, right?

Speaker 2 (15:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (15:13):
Yeah, I mean I understand a little bit of like, okay,
well maybe Leon has to kind of take over a
bit or whatever, but don't just like, oh, hey, let's like,
oh she like you said, get captured, and then we
got to spend half the half the level trying to
make sure that she doesn't die.

Speaker 2 (15:28):
And tell her the dumpster or something, you know, until.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Yeah, like, yeah, please don't. I would I would think
that they would know better because I'm sure that they
heard that that was not anybody's favorite part of four
all right, So you know, I would think that they
get that we did get the even though it was
kind of leaked by uh the I don't really know

(15:56):
his actual name, and I'm sorry, the guy that pulled
on Twitter all the time for Balder's get you know,
the Divinity team. He basically had always said, hey, it's
not gonna be original, send three, so you guys can
stop saying that. But he never said it wasn't going

(16:17):
to be a Divinity game. And then lo and behold,
it is a Divinity game. And they announced this pretty early.
I thought they would make you wait longer, but they didn't.
At first, almost thought maybe we're doing like Fable because
of the way that they do all the people there

(16:37):
and everything, like randomly, I did appreciate how he played
with that screen a lot as well, like he did
it with the Diablo announcement and some other ones as well,
Like the screen played almost felt like you're kind of
like back in the E three Days where they would

(16:58):
do that where they'd pan out to show like the
crowd reaction or whatever and then go back in or
so like that was cool. Any thoughts on a new Divinity,
I guess, or a reboot of Divinity I guess perhaps.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
What it is not really I'd like parts of that
trail looked looked like very Diablo, uh take when to
let the guy in fire. I didn't think it was
sable because they had the other races in that game,
like you know else and at least like one one
oc looking dude, and I don't think Ayble has that
at all. So we'll see, you know. I hope it's good.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yeah, I hope it's good as well.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Another RPG for youngs to play.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Mega Man also got the big Maturn announcement, very similar
to the one that o'camy got last year, right before
you get to the Game of the Year thing. It's
the big Mega Man fan here. Any I like.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Mega Man twenty years ago, Like you keep joking about this,
and I'm like, most of these games are like not
bad ah, I thought, Well, the funny thing is I
mentioned who's conducting that little Mega Man like song to
the end, and he was outraged because he hates that guy.
We're still arguing about it, and I'm like, who cares, Like, Yeah,

(18:26):
I don't know, look like a recent Mega Man game,
like if I wouldn't be for me because I'll probably
like they will adhere to like the old old traditions
too much.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, I'm surprised also that they made such a big
hype about the two point five D.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
Right when it didn't look two point five D Like
I guess Mega Man has like looked three D ish,
but I like that game is still on a two
D plane, so it's like, yeah, okay.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
You know, Rennie, there was a lot of these announcements
that were kind of like killed by the twenty twenty
seven Uh. It felt like it's like, why are we
announcing twenty twenty seven games here?

Speaker 2 (19:10):
I don't because it's late enough in twenty twenty five
to generate start generating hype for it, I guess.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
But I mean, also I forgot to mention that that
Star Wars the Fate of the Old Republic game was
like he said, it's early development, so you might as
well just get ready for that's not even probably touching
this generation. We will be fully into the PS six
and Xbox whatever gen by the time that comes out.

Speaker 2 (19:43):
The one funny award not to relate to it is
most Anticipated Game of twenty twenty six when it was
PTA six. Yeah, and my comment was that'll win next
year as well.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
Yeah, that'll probably be like he will probably make the
cutoff like the day after that game releases, if it
actually comes out in November. But I imagine if you
if you announced the delay that far ahead already. I
think they kind of have it pretty much stat that

(20:17):
they are not going to delay it again.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
Right, But I mean that's just you would hope.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
But yeah, and new Lego Batman trailer. That was pretty
cool having Lego Batman on stage as well. There. I mean,
I feel like Jeff kind of loves playing around with
not real uh people as much as he has. I

(20:47):
loves having celebrities on you know, between his like single
handed revival of the Muppets uh and then you know, having.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Interact with people. Though, like.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
I will say, you know, the the whole thing with
his the whole joke he had with Miss Piggy towards
the beginning that was funny. And then the song that
they did towards the end where they like they're actually
mentioned video games and stuff. I thought that was pretty
well done.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
You know, I'd rather have it just like Fozzy the
Bear hosting this thing next year.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Like, hey, maybe maybe it wouldn't be that bad, to
be honest, but yeah, yeah, that's true. I actually didn't
mind the evan Esscence, just maybe because I like evan Essence,
but way better than had some other ones that they had.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
They announced, they announced like they were playing at the
start of the show. Basically we got a performance I
have an Essence, and I was like they're still around.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Yeah, like, yeah, I knew about it previously, but I
was still kind of I had that same reaction of like, Okay,
there's still I'm glad to hear that they're still doing music.
You know. A You've got a new Sorrows trailer and
we got the release date, which is, uh, that's pretty cool.

(22:19):
I like the trailer. Any do you feel like it's
different enough from Returnal now seeing that.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
I watched, well that that's or like I watched I
was watching Jeff's stream. That's where he kind of cut
out for like five minutes. Okay, but I rewatched it.
Rewatched it look fine. I mean it's not it's I
mean it's a lot brighter than Eternal, So that's cool.
We'll see what I'm doing.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
I agree on that. Another release date we got there
was Fantom Blade zero September ninth, twenty twenty six. I
did not expect to be that late in the year.
But the trailer look cool. The combats always look cool
in that game. But right, yeah, you think this is

(23:08):
gonna be another one of the big hits for the
Chinese devs.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Or ah, we'll see. I guess like it to me,
it looks like very generic in spots yep, another one
of these.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
You know, Yeah, this one definitely has the hype around it.
But they've had others like that that also had the
hype around it, like Wulong and a few others that's
like didn't turn out to be as great, right, So
you know, we'll see, But I feel like this one

(23:46):
is it's gonna end up delivering on that for the
most part. Uh what else did they had? The the
one that David Harbor came out to announce the Total
War Warhammer forty K from Creative Assembly. Yep, it's a

(24:07):
pretty good get for Total War. Not that it makes
me care anymore or less, but right, you know, for
the people that it does, I'm sure that that was
a big deal for them.

Speaker 2 (24:18):
Surprised you didn't get I forget the guy's name old
Superman to be out there as well.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
Okay, okay, dude, I can't think of Yeah, Henry Cavill. Yeah, okay, yeah, yeah,
that is surprising because he's working on the movie TV show.
But yeah, yes, I was gonna mention that in a

(24:45):
little bit too. The the pre show. I was kind
of like not really paying that because I had to
like completely be focused on work because I was getting
ready to be on that Outer Haven stream, so I
couldn't just sit there and you know, not be looking
at that. But that the last I think that's that

(25:08):
might be the last game they showed The Badger game,
where you have like essentially game dev tools to be
able to kind of create the world around you, and
it's also a platformer that looked cool. I don't know
about a reviewal of this, but it is one I
think what it would probably even be in my top five.

(25:30):
I really liked what I saw from that.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
It's funny because I really liked the uh, I forget
the name of it, but the new game from the
Audio surf guy.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Yeah that too. That was also on the pre show, right.
It has the same kind of like aesthetic.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Yeah, like blue and red and purple.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
So I wonder if you're going to be able to,
like eventually or maybe from the get get go use
your own tracks.

Speaker 2 (26:00):
No, I think it's directly that, like you plug in
a song and then it generates a level.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Okay, that's awesome.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah, that's what that guy does. I mean it'll it'll
have a soundtrack as well, probably for like tutorial levels,
but yeah, i'd always just be like, hey, plugging me
out whatever you want, and then it'll make a level
based on it.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
So yeah.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (26:19):
Cavcom also had the I guess the biggest sort of
the the only out today moment is the demo for
Pragmata that you can play right now, along with the
extra concert for Clare Obscure Expedition in thirty three that's
also out, which they kind of just like announced at

(26:42):
the end with their with their Game of the Year
things like, oh, hey, we did tell you that we
were going to do that, so it's out there, and
then they already had the trailer out there. It's like
a minute and thirty second.

Speaker 2 (26:52):
I was really surprise because I saw something. This was
like yesterday or the day before with Todd Howard saying
like how he thinks that like scattered shadow drapping is
a good, good thing. Yeah, and so I was expecting, honestly,
I was expecting, like, here's Fallat three remastered. You know
it's on Steam or you know, to be unsteamed like

(27:13):
Midnight go at it.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
I saw some conversation about I think like kind of
funny was talking about could they show it. I feel
like that's like a Xbox showcase.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
That's very bad because and I say that because that
goddamn movie or the TV show is happening next week.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Yeah, but I don't think it's ready. They had just
done the when they I know they've been no.

Speaker 2 (27:41):
I mean, I don't think it's ready either at this point.
But if it had been, well, yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Of course I agree with you. But I do think
also the fact that they added like Walton Goggins to
follow seventy six, right, that's what they want. That's where
their focus is with that right now, right until they
do have that remaster, which maybe they build it around
one season, season three or something or something. I know

(28:13):
they said they were going to try to start shooting
season three like earlier, but this so maybe they can
have season three done, you know, faster, and you're not
waiting two years every time.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
But no, that show came out, I mean season when
came out last year. Uh, that's pretty good. Let me check. Yeah,
twenty twenty four. Okay, it must have been like in
like April, about a year and a half it was. Yeah,
wait is I mean it's still long for a show,

(28:47):
but considering like seven.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
It's probably faster than what most shows, like what HBO
takes like two three years.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
To do going out like Stranger Things or something like
well Strange.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
Stranger of Things. It's just that's an anomaly by itself.
But like even like House of the Dragon or whatever,
that they take like two or three years to do
that every time. You know, that's cool that they they
kind of have an eye. They they're trying to get
that done at a better place and hopefully by then

(29:20):
the Fallout three be mastered. But I do feel like
even though that had nothing to do with it like that,
we saw that the but that's the one for I
was it a Scott or not Scott Oblivion had no
like rhyme or reason. They just dropped it that day.
It wasn't built around a showcase or anything. So you know,

(29:41):
I get what Todd Howard says. You could do that
for something like Fallout three, but you can't do that
for like a lot of games. Hopefully people don't use
that tactic. You cannot just do Hall the Night for
like every game. It doesn't really work like that. Uh.
I do think it works for something like Clayups, like
having extra content because it's free, you already have the

(30:04):
game or it's still on game Pass, so technically you
could just play it if you're you know, you're playing
it off the the game Pass version, so you know,
it's already won a bunch of awards, so you're not
gonna get any more height and heights for that game
than right now. Not do that, right, but yeah, let's

(30:29):
the We actually got the pushal Hero Negoshi game Gang
of Dragon, which obviously the creators of yaku is A.
It's gonna be very similar to.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
Say bootleg yaku you know, like.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Well, but okay, he's taking concepts there, but I feel
like he's gonna differentiate it enough.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
I mean, here's a different guy. I'm the main role.
He as a guy from you know, the train to Buzan.
So that was kind of fun. And it looks a
little more like violent or a little less slightly less
cartoonitions than like Yakuza.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
But and it looks like they're using it seems to
me they're definitely focusing a lot on weapons as well,
not just like fist fighting.

Speaker 2 (31:20):
The other two things about the trailer, it looked a
lot better than like most Jakuza games, like especially like
that bar area. I mean it's a cut scene, but still,
and I'll be curious if this this one actually has
like vehicles.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
Maybe maybe that's not the way they can make a
different right.

Speaker 2 (31:40):
Yeah, not just skateboard or a scooter, but actually like
a car, you know.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Yeah, I mean, although I would imagine that. I mean,
it looks better because they're not having to reuse the
same massets from.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
An engine, right yeah, to generate new it's not four
K at least ten ADP assets, and they're not using
the same map from twenty years ago basically, So.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
I also would imagine he's I don't think they're going
to try to keep up that cadence either, Like no,
I would. I would think he's just gonna do one
every two or three years or so or whatever.

Speaker 2 (32:17):
Not Oh yeah, Orf there's a big demand, or you know,
he might want to go in some other direction as well,
so we'll see.

Speaker 1 (32:24):
Yeah, I mean that was his main reason for leaving,
is is he wanted to creative freedom. So hopefully he
does get to use that, you know, going forward.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Right.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Uh, we got the announcement of that bad Robot game
that we just got done talking about on the most
recent show. I don't know that was bad, ah, but
I mean we don't know how how far into development
this is.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
I mean I was watching Jeff like reaction to that.
You said, this game reminds me of the Vampire game
that the Xbox won for the Teble name of it. Right, Yeah,
He's like, this looks like red Fall, and I was like,
that's that's not something to aspire to.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
Like yeah, I mean, to be fair, red Ball had
its decent points, but yes, there was a lot more
negative about that game then.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
The other one. He didn't make this connection. But what
was the name of that game? Uh? That the last
game they showed that High Guard.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
Yeah, the one from the like made from Apex Legends
and Titan Valdev's.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
Right, that looks weird because it's like it's like fantasy
mixed with modern or you know, military shooter. And yeah,
it wasn't quite as bad. But I just really got
like concord vibes from that thing, and even the people
and like watching the chat was just like who who

(34:04):
wants another act like another hero theater or you.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
Know, yeah, it definitely isn't It's not for me, right,
it's not for you either, I gues I can understand, Like,
I don't know if this is an EA decision. I
don't know if this was a I mean, they've been
doing it a secret apparently this entire time, and nobody

(34:30):
knew about it. Well I'm sure there's some people that
knew about it, but they weren't talking about it, right,
And it is kind of like, I agree with you.
It's just at first I thought I was single player,
and then I started seeing other people like close to
him on screen, and I was like, oh, this is
a multiplayer game.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Yes, and.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
It's like, Okay, my kind of excitement for it is
gone because it did kind of it does kind of
look cool, right, It's just yeah, I agree with you.
I'm kind of like, all right, don't know if anybody
is asking for this, I kind of understand them.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
I think they are seeing somend of like waning signs
of players with APEX legends, and so they kind of
wanted to have a second game to kind of put
out there, right, so that you can maybe recuperate some
of those players and be like, hey, here's a new game,
you know, and it's different and you know, so I

(35:33):
I just don't My biggest thing was like, this is
your last game you're gonna show?

Speaker 2 (35:39):
Yeah, all right, they should Okay, it should have been.
It's not what I thought. I thought they should have
been the final Thanty seven to Part three spot, you know,
because I think they said they're gonna right.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
I mean, obviously it wasn't here, but but yeah, but
you know.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
They said they're going to like announce the name by
the end of twenty twenty five, and it's like, yo,
you got you got like left.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
I thought they said that they were close to like
they'd made a decision on two names, and that was
kind of it. Like, it wasn't that they were going
to announce it.

Speaker 2 (36:14):
I saw. The thing I saw was twenty twenty five,
like they were gonna like say it or something. But
who knows, I could be wrong, But like, still that
the fact that they ended the show basically on this
hero shooter thing, it's like, yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Agree, it's not when it makes me excited. I'm sure
there are people that were excited about it.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
You know, they're called EA shareholders, and that that's it.

Speaker 1 (36:43):
I thought that that the Warlock game, the RPG from
the Magic team looked.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Like no Ah, that that well, let me ask you this,
what do you think? What do you think is the worst? Sorry? Okay,
what do you think was the worst game? They showed
the worst trailer because I have too.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
The stupid never dies in the I I actually thought
that was good.

Speaker 2 (37:19):
I mean, we'll see that was the like glyly pop
Chainsaw too basically, but like the whole musical thing was
kind of fun. But I asked because the second worst
trailer to me was that Lords Have Fallen two trailer.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
With the really bad cover, not like Lords have Fallen.

Speaker 2 (37:39):
Well they did. They did a cover from that. H Oh,
what is it? Yeah? The song the the eighties song
the pet Shop Boys. It's a sin song, right they
had they had that song and then Galactic last year
like the actual song. Yeah, And for Lords of fallad

(38:01):
two they had like a cover of it by like.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
Some and we're talking about an indie dev.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
So right, but don't use that song like there are
plenty of other songs that weren't and they show last
year either, you know. But I bring it up because
I thought I agree with you on that. Yeah. I
think Lords of falland two was the second worst trailer,
and the worst trailer was that Warlock trailer. Really okay, Yeah,

(38:32):
so the song itself was terrible. I don't know why
Wizard of the Coast they always try to marry like
Dungeons and Dragons and magic Ship to like heavy metal,
cause I remember that the game they made like four
or five years ago that came out and no one
cared about it and it died that like they they

(38:55):
did the same thing. They married it to some like
really weird like metal song and as why do you
do this? Like don't you understand that there's like a
tonal inconsistency here, Like, I don't he's sound like Lord
of the Rings necessarily, but if you're going it's a
D and D thing, or if you know you're going

(39:15):
for high fantasy. Yeah, dude screaming about like he's like
he should be at a slip Knock concert. Shouldn't be
like the soundtrack, right, That was my two cents. And
also Tricia health for like like kind of awkward. Uh there.
I yes, she she was better than Mila Joviovic, that's

(39:39):
for sure, but she still looked like she didn't want
to be there.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Yeah, at least Theovits just like been around.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
But think you made that really bad. She tried to
be like joking and funny and it's yeah you were,
you are not this just read the goddamn page and
get let's get down and this.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
You know. Yeah, she she got happy with the I
felt like I was like, I don't really know if
that's legit or not about the be excited about our creators,
but whatever, good that our orders got to win the
best multi player.

Speaker 2 (40:15):
I'm sure that's what her husband is going to be
tackling next movie wise.

Speaker 1 (40:19):
Yeah, right, there's that. The The Ascent developer with No
Law look pretty decent. Definitely cyberpunk influenced. Right first person
RG looks kind of cool. I thought, we'll see if

(40:41):
we see more. Abide the Jonathan Blow had his new
puzzle game any thought. I mean, I'm not a big
puzzle game guy, but.

Speaker 2 (40:52):
I thought the voice acting was kind of annoying, and
I was trying to like parse out the rules, and
I like it just kind of came across as a
very weird to me, or a very like why are
these people teleporting around? Or like I get like, oh,
having to affect lights around this like level, or having
to roll a ball around and ship like that, but

(41:14):
like I didn't quite get the rules at all, so
it kind of came across its kind of messy. But
who knows.

Speaker 1 (41:21):
Yeah, is it is the multiplayer or is it just
that they just.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
That's not I don't know, Like it kind of seemed
like multiplayer, but that'll be hard hard to pull off.

Speaker 1 (41:37):
Like that's what it felt like to me. Is it
that supposed to be different players doing that or is
it just you just control different characters depending on like
what world you're on.

Speaker 2 (41:48):
I think it'll be both, you know, it'll have both
options maybe so kind of kind of like, uh, that
Zelda Force Links Adventure thing.

Speaker 1 (41:57):
Yeah, right. The Bruce Taley got to deview his game,
which was Grandma platforming covering of the Chicken Foot from
his studio is Wildflower Interactive and yeah, you get to
play between like was it like a robot and an

(42:20):
elder lady platform and it's like a sort of like
animated associated look, which I oh, yeah. I mean there's
a few other things, Like you said the audio was

(42:40):
it audio mech is the name of the game that
you were talking about with the new from the audio
surf dev?

Speaker 2 (42:48):
Right?

Speaker 1 (42:50):
Yeah? Anything else stand out to you?

Speaker 2 (42:53):
Or the war Frame commercial or trailer was weird?

Speaker 1 (43:01):
I think it's like a gag. Now, like what is this?
Like three years in a row they've had them the
the the two women come out and like announce some
big thing for war Frame and they already had a
soul Frame had earlier in the show, and now it's like, oh,

(43:23):
a legend is going to come out and tell you
about war Frame. I guess this works because they do
it every year. But it's just like, okay, whatever, we
got to kill time here.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
I got the new combat looked pretty good.

Speaker 1 (43:38):
Yeah, the Ace Combat eight. Yeah, we knew it was
being made. I didn't know if they were going to
show it here or not. I thought that was cool
they did.

Speaker 2 (43:50):
I thought as cool they didn't and it actually had
like that's him being it or like characters. It's not
just yeah like Combat seven, this is all in the
tech screen basically.

Speaker 1 (44:01):
So yeah, they definitely put some production into having Ace
Combat eight, which is a lot better, Like you said
than did you did you like the trailer for Street Fighter?

Speaker 2 (44:20):
Not really, I would say, I guess we'll see, but
I think Cody Rhoades it's very very weird. Cody, Yeah,
and uh, you know, we'll see. I think the problem,
like the problem with Street Fighter at least what they
showed is like that's a lot of characters are juggling

(44:42):
to introduce. Like I think what Mortal Kombat.

Speaker 1 (44:45):
Next year is best adaptation for Game of the Awards
will be street Fighter.

Speaker 2 (44:52):
I No, I think it will be Mortal Combat still
or you know, but I think I think they do
it better when they introduced there's basically like four or
five characters in each side of Wortal Combat, and they
whittle it down a little like right an they only
focus on like three or four, Like you don't get
like a ton of time with like Shang Zong or something.

(45:14):
But this looked very uh, let's just say stuffed.

Speaker 1 (45:19):
I felt more like they just showed you the whole
cast because they could, right. I can't imagine in the
actual movie they're gonna like, we're not gonna get equal
screen time with everybody.

Speaker 2 (45:32):
No, man, we are. It's just gonna be a six
hour long movie. I mean, here's a twenty minute long
Zangi versus Dolson fight.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Yeah, you'll you'll get the ale of the Super Mario
Galaxy thirty second spot, right, you know with some of
the characters, so and or they'll come in and do
their thing, they'll be around for a little bit and
then whatever.

Speaker 2 (45:57):
And also the problem, the problem streetsider at least like
with the cast, what they're shown, it's like they already
have introduced damn near anyone you care about, Like where
do you go for some fighter two? Because they already
have a Kuma in this one, Like he's the next
logical step. But if you're using him in this one
and you cast Roman Reigns, so you know he's gonna

(46:17):
be a fighter or a fight will break out eventually, right,
Like you're not just gonna cast him in some like
cameo like.

Speaker 1 (46:27):
Yeah, uh, Randy brings up that they could just make
it all action and not have a story at all. No,
I mean they could technically, right, they don't have to
have these this deep like story about reusing.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
I mean, it doesn't mean to be like, you know,
ninety minutes of setup and then only ten minutes of fighting.
But you need a story or at least something to
hang the fights on a little otherwise you just keep
checking the movie.

Speaker 1 (46:56):
Right, I'm sure that they'll kind of give you like
a I mean, I guess they could just do like
a tournament thing, right, right, like a tournament arcad just whatever.
I don't know what they're gonna get all Mortal Kombat
about it, right, having a deep floor, yeah, all that stuff.
I mean, really what they need to focus on to

(47:17):
make sure they make a good movie so that they
can have make a franchise out of it and not
just like, oh, well, okay, we have one movie and
then right there's no you're going to get Colt status
like you do with that Street Fider movie. That's not
great with people love it because of the actors that
are in it, you know, right whatever.

Speaker 2 (47:36):
Even nice like overly stuff, but this thing has more
characters in it, so good luck.

Speaker 1 (47:43):
We'll see.

Speaker 2 (47:44):
What do you think about? Was there any surprises for
you about the actual awards?

Speaker 1 (47:52):
I mean, Expedition wons so many of them that I
don't I don't know they even how many. No, I
thought the ones that I thought I would win one
the two Indies Hades two and uh, Expedition and Hall
and I both won theirs, So you know, it's not

(48:14):
like I would have been more upset if if you
had them not win.

Speaker 2 (48:21):
I mean, Holland I won for Best X Adventure, not Indy.

Speaker 1 (48:25):
Right, Holland I won for Best Action Adventure, and then
Hayes won for Best.

Speaker 2 (48:29):
Action No oh, sorry, you're right, yeah, I thought you
were talking about Indie. Sorry. Uh. The one that surprised
me a little was the Best Adaptation because people like Yeah,
I didn't people like that at all, so.

Speaker 1 (48:51):
Oh well, it's top of mind. I win in Games
for Impact surprised me a bit too. I thought des
Flote would win or consume me, and I thought that
was really awesome for compulsion, because that's kind of the
whole reason that they're there, even though you know obviously
bad history with high fire Rush and all that, because

(49:12):
that's technically the reason that they were there. But the
whole reason that you have Compulsion is because you're supposed
to say, oh, we make these arts games so they
can win awards like help lay to that. Well, now
Compulsion is also won an award with South of Midnight,
so that's cool for them.

Speaker 2 (49:34):
But I guess I was surprised that like Minecraft didn't
win for Best Education.

Speaker 1 (49:42):
That. Yeah, I was surprised too. I understand like Last
of Us TV is probably like the most like technical,
I guess right, like the most, but I agree with you,
like I don't remember people going, oh, I love Last
of the Season two Like I, they're more complaining. Maybe
maybe it's just us because we live in that we're

(50:03):
in the bubble, but you know, people complaining about Last
of Us two and maybe the more general public didn't care.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
But they wouldn't been voting on this thing anyway then.

Speaker 1 (50:18):
Probably also Mario Kart World winning Best Racing Game when
it clearly was not that great.

Speaker 2 (50:27):
I don't think it's the best Mark Kart game. But also,
like in that listing, like.

Speaker 1 (50:33):
In there, I feel like more people like Sonic than
Mario Kart, but.

Speaker 2 (50:38):
Yeah, I don't know. Also, I like the game, so
don't get me wrong, but I think I think the
Doctor cong Binanza winning that Best Family Game was a
little weird.

Speaker 1 (50:50):
I mean, it was the best game out of the bunch.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
Overall game, sure, but I would you know, i'd probably
I some think like split fiction or something that has
more co op.

Speaker 1 (51:02):
Oh, I agree, but you know what best family game
is just like the best animated game, essentially, right, You.

Speaker 2 (51:10):
Know, there was no surprise if how Fancy Tactics won game.

Speaker 1 (51:17):
I was. I was surprised because I thought maybe they
wouldn't give it to the Tactics because it technically is
an old game. Uh So I'm glad to see that
it won. I was happy about that. And also, yeah,
I understand that that these games give money and credits

(51:37):
to people for voting. Randy said, Lego Party got hosed.
That's another game that has a more co op component
if you're gonna say family games. So I agree on that.
But the people again that they want to complain about
how oh our vote is only ten percent. That shouldn't

(52:00):
be right, you know, whatever, we know more than the
critics do. How about actually show up and stop having
wuthering raves and gains an impact, be in the top
five for best Game of the Year or whatever, if
you're actually caring about voting. Now, obviously Jeff doesn't really care,

(52:23):
and I'm sure that he could do a better job
of managing that if he actually cared to make it
to where he'p only vote once and do all that
kind of stuff. Right, it's a throwaway thing on at
the end of the day, really, right, you know. I'm
just saying, if you're going to make such a big

(52:45):
deal about it, then.

Speaker 2 (52:47):
I think they really should maybe add one or two
categories and also get rid of a few categories, like
best Fighting Games.

Speaker 1 (52:57):
No, you got to have a best fighting game. It's
not the best body game's fault that you only had
like four fighting games come out this year.

Speaker 2 (53:05):
I mean, you know, it's best fighting game's fault that
only there were only two new games in that list.

Speaker 1 (53:14):
I still think that they should go the route of
bidding getting more specialized with these things of like go
give the RPG. Maybe you separate separate the RPG category
a bit, and you give the RPG category to people
that are this is the RPG specialists, and this is

(53:38):
the you know, the sports and racing game people, and
this is the fighting game community, and let them vote, right. No.

Speaker 2 (53:50):
Jeff talked about it on his podcast two weeks ago
because he voted this thing, like because you're the critics,
you know, and like someone asked him like, hey, do
you vote for the categories that you don't know about?
And he's like no, because what the fuck am I going?

Speaker 1 (54:03):
You know?

Speaker 2 (54:05):
Right?

Speaker 1 (54:05):
But he's by himself. There's people that have people on
staff that that's what they play, right, So you're gonna
go to them and say, okay, what would you vote for?

Speaker 2 (54:16):
Yeah, but like in that in that scenario, like they
they would take that recommendation. They just use that recommendation.
They're not going to go like, oh, this person is
the best RPG care you know one, So they voted
for you know, Haites two instead of Expedition thirty three.
But Expedition thirty three is a better is a more

(54:38):
popular game for We're gonna vote for that. They're just
gonna use Hades two.

Speaker 1 (54:43):
I agree with you, but I just feel like there's
not enough of those people that do that or.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
We also have Yeah, you know, it's not like most
websites these days don't even have like dedicated staffs for
specific genres.

Speaker 1 (55:00):
But that's what I'm saying. I feel like a lot
of people are just You're still getting a lot of
oh this is the first game that came to my head,
and it's not oh. I actually went and looked at
like or asked people that are that play those games
more or whatever, and I feel like, especially with the
RBG category, you would get a little bit more variance

(55:23):
when it comes to that. But hey, props to the
people that got you know, like I'm seeing getting both
of their games in there. I guess that's cool. Yeah,
any kind of like final thoughts or it was.

Speaker 2 (55:40):
An okay show, I still think like something like the
comedy stuff, who get cut and that's about it.

Speaker 1 (55:48):
I don't know about cutting everything, but maybe you can
cut a little bit. But it's just like I feel
like he's he's doing a good job of making it.
It ends at eleven right before it used to just
bloat on and on and it's like, oh my god,
I'm about to like pass out here. I think one

(56:10):
year we almost we actually almost didn't do the review
because it ended like twelve right, you know, like at
least he is he's saying, Okay, this has a start
time and an end time. But I'm not just saying
it run forever, right, Yeah, you know, I I do

(56:31):
wish sometimes we didn't. I wish he had a little
bit more like choreographed to tell you when it's going
to be an AD so you're not sitting there just
watching to see if stuff is going to get announced.

Speaker 2 (56:44):
Oh that's too anytime it's anime game, you know it's
an AD.

Speaker 1 (56:50):
That's true for the most part. But still I would
say that, you know, kind of do that. I don't.
I still thought, I mean, it's not perfect, but I
still thought this was a really well paced show for
the little sport. I'm okay with some of the comedy
stuff because it happens in an award show.

Speaker 2 (57:10):
You know.

Speaker 1 (57:11):
I still feel like he he's kind of built on
that old mentality of like, oh, let's let's have the
celebrities here and have them make jokes and have the
I don't know why what his fascination is with the buffets.

Speaker 2 (57:31):
So much that he doesn't tie, but that's something that
doctor Freud would be interested in probably, but yeah, I
think they should cut out. I don't think she's bad.
I think they should cut out the girl who did
the pre show I said, knew whatever her class name
is what I think they I think they should do
a like more of a co host situation with like

(57:53):
a younger name is Andrew Renee. Yeah, like or have
like a female co it has like more interaction with
Jeff or more banter.

Speaker 1 (58:05):
And what's weird is like he does it for a
like Summer game Fest now where he kind of has
the female co host around more, right, and it's like
I think Game Awards. I guess he kind of takes it.
It's like, Okay, well this is mine, you know.

Speaker 2 (58:22):
Yeah, and he's like silod off except for like the
one or two times he talked to he was like
had someone next next to him, like Doug Bowser or
you know, someone exactly. It felt like they were like
very silent off. And I think she was only in
the actual game the proper Game Awards show once maybe twice.

Speaker 1 (58:40):
Yeah, she was only once yea. So I'm surprised that
he didn't have Goojeeva come up for.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Some just random yeah he was there or the other guy,
that Joseph Fairs guy anything.

Speaker 1 (58:55):
But I mean technically he did have the he did
have a game up for you know, in a war.
He technically could have had a reason there bringing just
affairs in there, but you know Kanye did. Yeah, right,
But yeah, I would. I would give it like an
eight out of tend.

Speaker 2 (59:17):
So I might say, you like seven point five, but
it's not like h seven, but it's yeah, it's not terrible.

Speaker 1 (59:24):
I definitely, I think he got some really cool surprises.
Like I said, for me personally, there wasn't really a lot.
Maybe there was a bit more for you, but I
think overall, at least there wasn't like this like it
felt like there was a lot of times where it's
like oh and and he said it. He did an
interview with Chris String where he said, Okay, sometimes I

(59:46):
can't control uh, you know, I gotta give you what's
out there. Right if if there's if a lot of
the games that being made of horror games, I'm sorry
that there's like seven horror games in my show. But
I thought he did a lot better job of like
kind of like you know, spreading it out more.

Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
Yeah, and there wasn't Yeah, there wasn't like the twenty
minutes of Farming games, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
Yeah, there wasn't like Sick Souls games, you know, all
almost back to back or whatever. So yeah, I think
he did a better job with that as well, of
like sprinkling in some big announcements but then having the
smaller ones too, right, But all right, thank you everybody
