special guest for you guys, so you definitely want to

on social media right now and let them know that
we are about to dive deep into another interview. Before
I bring my guests on, I do want to say,
don't lose sight. This is the frequency of the fearless.
You know, some music doesn't ask you to understand the words.
(01:25):
It asks you to feel the truth. Our guest today
reminds us that love, rhythm, and hope speak every language
on earth. Rooting an ancestral tradition and carried by modern hearts.
Their music is proof that joy can cross oceans and generations.
(01:45):
This isn't just a song. It is a reminder that
the world is still held together by connection, by community
and care. You're not just here for a talk show.
And this isn't just radio. This is viable for your mind, body,
and spirit. This is Vigilantes Radio Live. My name is
(02:06):
Coach Deanie, and change is possible. Are you ready?
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Are you ready?
Speaker 5 (02:25):
Are you ready read? Are you ready? Well, let's go,
don't go there?
Speaker 4 (02:38):
All right? All right again, and welcome to the show.
You're listening to vr L. That is Vigilancies Radio Live
right here on iHeartRadio, and I am your host, Deani.
Our interviews are designed to go beyond the music, news, books, art, acting, films, technology, education, entrepreneurship,
(02:59):
entertain spirituality, and sometimes even past the thing that we
call the ego. Our interviews, our designs go behind the
scenes into the minds of these incredible human beings. You know,
the ones that are out there giving it. They're all
for me, for you, and for the world. Well, ladies
(03:20):
and gentlemen. Tonight's guests Aarana and Zazada I know I
got the name wrong Diarrhea are a married musical duo
who blends West African folk traditions with global sounds. Singing
(03:41):
in Barbara Mazi, French, and English, they share music rooted
in love, community, and in schro wisdom. Arana is a
twelfth generation grow up and master instrumentalist who even builds
his own instruments. I mean, this guy's incredible, while Za's
voice carries natural warmth and emotional depth. Together they create
(04:06):
music that transcends language and borders. So please join me
and saying welcome friend to our special guests. Hey, Hey,
welcome to the show. Hi, Hey, I know I got
(04:26):
you your names incorrectly. Could you correctly pronounce them for it?
Speaker 6 (04:33):
Yesh, I am out on Data and I am Zazadiada.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Nice to meet you, find folks, and welcome to the show.
Absolutely before we really just pick off everything what's been
on your heart and mind lately, just.
Speaker 6 (04:58):
Fran to stay grounded with all that's happening in the
world today. Every moment is a change that's happening, but
just remembering that good is always taking on. So I
guess it will just be more just keeping steady.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
What about you, sir, Yeah, same thing, you know.
Speaker 7 (05:23):
I just stay grounded and more focus and be good
for life.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Absolutely all right. When people hear the single that we're
going to play tonight years from now, what feeling or
lesson do you hope stays with them? About love and togetherness?
Speaker 6 (05:49):
I would say, as you just mentioned, to get in it,
you know, just remembering that love surpasses it all and
we just can't do it when we alone, but together
we can always support one another, appreciate one another and
keep moving. I mean, before has been here for ages
(06:12):
and we just.
Speaker 8 (06:14):
Believe that love is what kept it going.
Speaker 4 (06:20):
Yeah, I mean we live in the world today and
now that strongly suggests that everyone should do everything on
their own. I don't believe that. I don't believe.
Speaker 7 (06:31):
You know, go ahead, I mean green alone is different
by green with someone or going together is always powerful,
you know.
Speaker 4 (06:42):
Absolutely. There's a proverb about if you're doing stuff along
and you know, yeah, you drop something or too weak
to carry it, there's no one else around you to
help you carry it. Two is always better than one,
right ye? So indeed, indeed, so help me pronounce the
(07:07):
name of the single as it don nu yah yeah yeah,
And it translates to the world. What moment made you
guys feel the world needed this song right now? Hm?
Speaker 8 (07:25):
You know we.
Speaker 6 (07:29):
Has. You know, the world has become so small thanks
to social media, you know, technology, so we hear right
now speaking, and anywhere in the world they can hear
that if they were to get tune in your fee
and so it's hard to even feel like you have
your own space because so much is coming from every
(07:52):
direction and sometimes we feel like, you know, the world
that we foresee or look at it seems like it's
s chaotic, it's not working. But the world is small
yet big. So that's why we really wanted to call
it Julia, because we are all in this space called
(08:14):
the world.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
We are we are whether we like it or not.
We still share experience, we still share the planet, you know.
And your music communicates emotions even without English lyrics. How
do you intentionally transmit joy and hope through sound alone?
Speaker 6 (08:42):
It's very saying. I think it's all about feeling right
even when you're singing in English or any other language
that yet a person who's listening can hear it. If
you are just saying worlds and there is no feeling
behind it, the message may very.
Speaker 8 (08:59):
Much be next. However, you know, like they say, love.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
Has no language, really it's a language on its own,
and everybody understands it, even animals.
Speaker 8 (09:09):
So that's really powerful. And so when we sing and
we feel the.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
Love that is being given out from us to our neighbor,
to our brother, to our sister, to the world, it
just it's you going right, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 8 (09:34):
The.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Arouna you come from tradition, How does that anstial responsibility
shape how you play and tell stories to music?
Speaker 6 (09:48):
So I'm going to try and explain to Aruna, because
Aruna's understanding of the English language is not so deep
has it can tinue to learn. So I'm going to
explain to him if that's okay with you, what is
it that you are asking so that he can actually
(10:08):
fun to you. Once you understands he can certainly do that.
So he's saying that come to cheer angry you, Chelardila.
Speaker 8 (10:21):
Tradition for my facult to arrive a transmit.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
To get you say, full guard this tradition, what investors
abdicating Thence.
Speaker 7 (10:38):
Yeah, el agent to the manage your languages apparently.
Speaker 6 (10:45):
Now so he believes that in building the instruments, himself,
making the music, teaching the music, helping him remember to
name connected to his roots and to be true to that.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I love it as your connection to Arouna's music began
with hearing his bellophone from a distance. What did that
moment awakening you emotionally?
Speaker 6 (11:22):
Well, at that point, I've been here for years and
years and have not at all heard live balotphone anywhere.
Speaker 8 (11:31):
And here i am.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
I'm walking into the festival and I'm thinking, you know,
it's gonna be like every day thing. Maybe i'll hear
Jim Bay, which you know we have that a lot here.
But no, I'm coming out of my car and I'm
hearing this balophone and I'm like, wow, how is that
even possible.
Speaker 8 (11:53):
For balafon to be playing here?
Speaker 6 (11:56):
Well, I absolutely thought, okay, if it's happening, here's probably
somebody from Guinea or Maley. I definitely didn't think it
would be from booking a fasso And you can only imagine.
Speaker 8 (12:06):
My joy when I I was actually I got there
and I was in awe.
Speaker 6 (12:12):
I'm standing next to a gentleman who turns and looks
at me. He can see that I was just absolutely
you know, overjoyed, and he says to.
Speaker 8 (12:23):
Me, he plays good.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
I'm like yes, and he said he's from booking a fassle.
And I just couldn't even you know, like I just
jumped in there and started dancing. It was like the
biggest celebration ever, you know, like I was loved and.
Speaker 8 (12:38):
I've been found.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
You know.
Speaker 8 (12:39):
It was just really a wonderful moment.
Speaker 4 (12:43):
Wow. So what happened from there?
Speaker 8 (12:47):
Well, this.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
Love that first note, it's it is.
Speaker 6 (13:03):
It is very interesting because after that that that song,
you know, it was his last song, and he gave
he introduced himself, said wait, let me get you my
uh one of my CDs and any business cards, and
of course I wait. I received the CD and the
business card and we exchange numbers. I go sit in
(13:24):
my car and I'm listening to his CD and I'm like, man,
this man is gifted. And I mean I'm just like
in tears in this car for real listening to you know,
you can just steal his heart. It was just so
powerful for me and I didn't start playing it. I
(13:46):
I went to my center and I would play it
in the speakers every classroom, having speaker in our center
because I just believe in music, and I just you know,
children love it and we dance, have dance times and
all of this, and I put it in and all
the kids anyway, So I not finally we go next,
(14:07):
I think like maybe a week later. He calls me,
or he texted me actually, and I texted him and
we're like, oh, we must get together and do some
traditional cooking. Long story B shorts. He didn't even plan
on coming to my center, but he was going to
a studio to record, and he fad that he the
studio was my center because I started texted me accidentally and.
Speaker 8 (14:31):
He didn't know that I was in the studio. So
we got to talking.
Speaker 6 (14:34):
He's like, come on my way, and I'm like, oh,
I wonderful coming in.
Speaker 8 (14:37):
You can see my center.
Speaker 6 (14:39):
And that literally accidentally is how he ended up in
my center a week later, and we got talking and he's.
Speaker 8 (14:46):
Like I gotta go, and I'm like, what's just happened?
You just got here.
Speaker 6 (14:49):
You were going to give classes to students, and he's
like no, well, we will schedule that. And that's another time.
You know, he was so gentle, he's such a gentleman.
He didn't want to tell me that he made me.
He didn't mean to come here, you know. So anyway,
she left quickly and I was like, oh, how interesting.
And then of course he quickly reconnected and we had
(15:14):
dinner and that's the rest of stories.
Speaker 8 (15:17):
Six years later. Yeah, we are.
Speaker 4 (15:20):
That's incredible. Music. The sound of music brought you two together. Yes,
and now you're artists together, your life partners together. You're
doing life together, play music together. That's incredible. How does
love deepen your collaboration on stage?
Speaker 6 (15:40):
Hmmm, I would say that's really the main ingredient for us.
Very frankly, you know, it's such a blessing to be
married to someone that you actually like being around. And
now we really since that day to now, we never
(16:03):
got tired of being around each other.
Speaker 8 (16:05):
Was really a blessing.
Speaker 7 (16:07):
Pretty much, do everything together, from music, from making instruments,
working together, travel. We'll never travel apart from each other.
Since we've been married. He's been great.
Speaker 6 (16:23):
Yeah, And that, of course, to answer your questions, it
makes communications very easy because even the first day that
I would play officially.
Speaker 8 (16:38):
On stage with Aruna, and.
Speaker 6 (16:42):
I was so amazed at how I knew that he
was about to turn a note in his instrument. It
just naturally happens. But that's just because and whenever I
would feel like he wasn't feeling the music, I can
also feel all of that because we just have this
non verbal communications that happens, and it's just very powerful.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
Yeah, wow, Arona, you build your own instruments. That itself
is incredible. You're a master craftsman. If I would say something, yes, sir,
thank you. How long have you been crafting your own instruments.
Speaker 7 (17:24):
Oh, I've been making instrumental for about since the two thousand, yeah,
twenty five years ago.
Speaker 4 (17:33):
Wow. Yeah, okay, this.
Speaker 7 (17:37):
Guy it from from from ballatphone gones choras and doing
doing and.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 8 (17:49):
But so now you just focus.
Speaker 7 (17:54):
Sometimes choras maybe not very muchy like getting God I'm
gone is consistent, like every week at Saturday days, someday
I'm building, I'm gone.
Speaker 8 (18:07):
If I'm not building, I'm taking.
Speaker 7 (18:09):
Yes, my house is full with the instreamen.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
Absolutely all right. As couple, as a couple spreading pins
through music, what message would you want would you like
families around the world to hear today.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
I would say, hope, right, hope. Things seems like it's
just going from bad to wars. But the truth is
that is still goodness, and the power is in us
right to to keep the love flame going.
Speaker 8 (18:52):
You know, if it is true that.
Speaker 6 (18:56):
Good out with evil, then we've we have to keep
hope going, and we have to believe it, and we
have to sing it, and we have to feel it,
and we have to speak it because you know, we
can't just let the negative, the negativity be louder, right,
and because sometimes that would make it sounds like that's
just what's happening in the world. But look at us here,
(19:17):
even just from the free of our having discommunication. Here,
it's positive. It's it's love. There is more love than
there is hate. It's just that it gets some to
be louder. But we want to drain that with a
louder love.
Speaker 8 (19:33):
And that's unia.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
All right, All right, listeners, I know you're ready for
this music just like I am here. It is denial
and I will be right back with our special guests.
