B. We will dive deep intoher remarkable journey of resilience, self expression,
and empowerment through her music. Soget ready to be inspired and uplifted
as we explore the life and artistryof this rising star. And with that,
(04:58):
let's go ahead and welcome Karma Bto the show. Hello, Hello,
welcome, Thank you guys, Thankyou guys. I'm shirty shirty,
glad for the invitings, for beinga part of iHeart and Its Radio.
I'm delighted to be here. Absolutely, we are very excited that you're here,
(05:18):
so comer b again, Welcome tothe show. Your music reflects a
powerful message of overcoming adversity and alsoembracing authenticity. So throughout your journey,
what has been the most significant lifelesson that you've learned and how has it
shaped your artistry? So I feellike, never given up, no matter
(05:42):
what the circumstances are, the challengesyou face in life, be all you
could be. You know, Godgive everybody a gift, and that's something
that you're very good at and youcan do with the least amount of effort
and put your all into that focuson ourselves and kind of redirect yourself towards
positive situations. As you said inthe beginning, my music is coming from
a place of hurt and pain goinginto rejoice and being able to handle the
(06:10):
situation, overcoming bad spirits, learningyouth spirits, not having a relationship with
God, to obtaining a relationship withGod. Most importantly, cleansing the soul.
As your clears the spirit, youget all all that frustration, you
let go of all those things you'vebeen holding in it. This is just
really what's going on. It's likea book and you put it into words
and it turns into music and asyou go on it gets better and better
(06:32):
and hopefully sending out a message. And you know, you can touch some
of those who's probably been in yoursituation or who are currently in your situation.
It's just about embracing the power oflife and its obstacles. Everybody's going
to go through it, you know. It's about how you handle it,
how you maintain it, how youovercome it, and what are you going
(06:54):
to give back when you feel likeyou're winning like that type of see absolutely
and it seems like your music notcausing harm, like not causing harm.
It's it's it's at that point thatyou gotta get it out. This is
real life. This is what's goingon. Most people react in the negative
manner physically, you know, writeit and I feel like it's therapy.
(07:15):
Put it in there, screen, get in the booth, set it out,
you know, and make it,make it have a lot of values
behind it. Is what this isabout here. Indeed, So yeah,
therapy, Your music scenes very therapeuticlistening back to it. What does your
music do for you? It makesme feel good. But for the most
(07:39):
part, what I really like,I get out of it I'm refreshed.
I'm really nude. If I spokeabout something, or if I talked about
something, if it was touching,or if it's like wow, whoa,
I never heard? Oh my gosh, like it's a true story first of
all, and and second of all, it's like I staill hell. Once
I dropped that album, once Idropped that song, once I record in
the booth, once I once mydrop is over, it's no more in
(08:01):
me. I'm on for positives, for better and like that, you know,
Yeah, I just want to askyou about that. That's what's up.
So, Yeah, the release ofyour EP, Bad Boat Honest marked
the beginning of your career in music. How did you find the strength and
the courage to share your story ofgrowing up in the slums of Las Vegas.
(08:22):
I know being vulnerable is not aneasy thing to do in today's time,
but you did it. And yeah, how did you find a courage
to do that? So it waslike you know, putting my best book
for it, already having a setof goals in mind within my personal career.
Once those accomplishments come forth, yousteel good. It gives good energy.
(08:43):
And for me, when I seta goal and I make that goal,
it's like, what's next, What'snext, What's next? So,
you know, just about setting goalsand making those goals. And I got
to the point me like, okay, what's next with the undid what I'm
gonna do? Being that I lovemusic since I was junior high school,
this is really you know, I'mmy own writer. I felt like it
(09:03):
was a good time of all thethings growing up in the slums that I
had with held and never shared withanyone, not even siblings. Coming from
a family of twelve, you know, two guys to just eleven of the
siblings, I'm a twin things thatI never got to discuss. I felt
like, well, I could putit into music and they'll hear it and
(09:24):
they all we weren't eating They'll saywow, wow, and this will be
their first time and hearing it alongwith the world. You know. Yeah,
So back in junior high what wason your playlist? So like,
you know, joke like wit inHouston, m Leiah, it was like
(09:46):
gladness night. I had an oldsoul like and I felt more advanced than
other girls. So it wasn't aboutpopping in the vagina and and showing girl
was out. I was raised beingsecretive, protect yourself and you know,
have your guards up. So itwas different for me. I wasn't into
(10:07):
the booty popping in the bouncing, and it was more of a strict environment.
This is serious. You better payattention, put your brain on.
You know. We can go backto that little so, you know,
and it's like popping out, likeI feel like I understand what the girls
(10:30):
saying when they sucking on us,and and but I can't relate, you
know, I can't. I don'tget it. It was like I was
taught you protect that. That's notfor everybody. You shield that. Your
man is your man, Your guyis your guy. You don't sleep around,
you don't speak around for money, you you know. So I feel
like there's a big difference because Igo in our search in the music,
(10:50):
in the art, and I'm lookinglike where are they? Like I feel
so like different, like I can'tsupport that, you know, I'm not
into the BBOs in the in themakeup in there. You know, I'll
get red carpet up, don't getit wrong, but every day and just
to do it for a show, and to know, I feel like I
was protecting my body like like jobprotects me. I could just say it
(11:13):
like that. Absolutely. So yourplaylist from junior high is a long way
off from rep well, not tootoo far away. But yeah, it's
not rap um what pulled you intorap music. So it was more of
about you know, being able tobe more aggressive and you know, tell
(11:35):
your story. You don't always haveto see any quiet. You could be
more, have some more tune intoit, some base into it. That's
one about me. To wrap,it's more hip hop, it's more uh,
it's right. Theory hits you rightthere. If I feel like,
you know, what I grew upon, it's more laid back, relaxing,
and that's not what they they're onat a young age. They're not
into laid back. That's what Iwas into, laid back, protect yourself,
(11:56):
be safe, and that's that's whatyou listen to. But I also
knew that rap music. Tucock ishardcore. We're Going. I knew that
Biggie We're Going. You know,it was just a difference in what I
liked versus what I listened to.I always knew about rap rap with my
themes. You know, it wasn'tone hundred percent of my comfort. But
now that I feel like and Iunderstand it, it should I've been because
(12:18):
now it's my comfort. But musicperiod, for me, it's therapy.
I could be upset and even togo play and listen to someone's else lyrics
and hear what they're going through andwhat they overcame. It does to me.
It makes men go one that shoot, I'm not by myself somebody else
hurt, nor somebody else overcame that. So, you know, I just
(12:39):
love music and it's just happen tobe called rap. It's like I'm telling
my story, but I just don'twrapping y'all. So in the featured single
off of your new EP, SpeakUp, it's Turtle Get Rich and you
manifest coming out of poverty and payinga tribute to your mother. Did your
mother's life influence your drive to seeit in the music industry? You know,
(13:05):
I came from a very hard life, from the streets, Like you
know, my mom had a career, you know, in nursing, the
same as I do today in reallife. But she was addicted to the
street. When I said to dothe street, she got caught up into
distributing a jug something where you getfast money. And it's just the life
that you can you have and yourMy mom was a clean ten So it
was something like I didn't just wakeup. I got in that life and
(13:30):
I lived that life for quite along time. Because this is what I've
seen being raised thirteen fortune, she'sseen coming from seven brothers for SUTs win.
I've seen this, And when Igot to an age where it got
on, I just start to understood. You know, I had, I
had a taste of that life.I knew exactly what that life is allowed.
So yeah, that's hard enough forto go into wrap or where every
(13:52):
anybody want to take it to me, that's a heart. That's a hard
life. I don't imagine anyone's fifteenor ten years old distribute control, running
the organization, doing things that youshouldn't be doing as a kid. You
should be home, where safe, where you have a future. I didn't
have that. Wow, And tocapture you know, this story and your
(14:18):
music is it's a tremendous opportunity forus as listeners because some of us can
relate, you know, some ofus do come from that. So I
think what you're doing is very powerful. We're getting ready to play your single
get rich, and then we'll beback to put Karma b in our traditional
hot seat. That's where she canperform for us if she wants to.
(14:39):
She can wrap seeing, spoken wordpoetry, maybe even give some advice,
player instrument to a joke, ortell a part of her story. But
for right now, guys, hereit is get rich. We'll be right
back. Stay tuned, Running numbercheck. I'm about to get rich.
