Being the best that I can be. I'm just trying
to make it, just trying to make it.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
Indeed, what's inspiring your thoughts these days?
Speaker 6 (04:19):
My music?
Speaker 5 (04:20):
I'm God and just surrounding my loving family.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Yeah, and what keeps you going?
Speaker 5 (04:29):
Being motivated? My grandchildren. My grandchildren keep me motivated, all right.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
So talk heavy that's one of that's another songs of yours.
It's an anthem that's unapologetic. What inspired you to create
that track?
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Nicki Minaj? The track was sent to me and when
I heard it, it was like boom, I got a
right and I came up with those lyrics. It was amazing.
I'm just sitting there writing and thinking. Man, when she
(05:12):
was talking about she's from New York and I'm like, Chicago,
what came out? Chicago was up? That's what person was
the first lyrics that came to me. And I wrote
it down really and I'm like, I'm you know, I'm
pulling up in the limbo. Chicago was up. That's what
(05:34):
came to me. And I just wrote it down and
just talking about finances. Everybody's dressed to be rich, and
I'm like another part came deep, deeper than to see
that's what was coming that. I guess those was. That's
(05:55):
was the spirit talking to me. I was just writing
as it was coming. That's how hated it. It's a beautiful,
it's a masterpiece.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
How long did it take you?
Speaker 5 (06:05):
It is?
Speaker 2 (06:05):
It is? How long did it take you to do it.
Speaker 5 (06:09):
I finished those lyrics, to be honest, within fifteen minutes.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Wow it's pretty sharp.
Speaker 5 (06:16):
Yes, yes, sure, yeah, very proud of it.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yeah you said Nicki is both elegant and and has hostility.
What did you learn watching her doing her own things?
Speaker 2 (06:43):
You know her career? What did you learn about her career.
Speaker 5 (06:48):
With Nicki? She's she's very dominant. She's a cheerful, young lady.
She makes her her presence, know hmm, everybody knows that
she's the boss of her house, of course, not ours.
I just love her performance and you can learn a
(07:11):
lot from her. I just I just I just like
everything about her. Nice woman, she's a nice lady. Just
gotta respect the queen. Gotta respect the Queen.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Does her life influence your confidence?
Speaker 5 (07:31):
Yes, everybody would would love to be in nikki shoes,
to be honest, it's a given chance. I'm gonna say
I'm better than her, but I that's that's my opinion.
Everybody had an opinion because I'm tough myself. Given the opportunity,
(07:53):
I slay it, I have no problem with slaying it.
I have no problem putting it down. I'm very confident
in myself. That's just how I am. This is You're
getting the real This is ms J talkie.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
This a real deal.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
So how did how did you? How did you build
this confidence? It could be tough in the industry, and
I know it takes confidence.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
How did you build yours?
Speaker 5 (08:16):
Well? I want just I rapping and writing. I like
the dance. I come from a talented background my family
and I was always in front of a crowd because
we used to perform in a parade talent shows and
(08:40):
I was a major red and when I was in school,
so I'm familiar with people looking at me on the stage.
I'm not I'm not shy. When it's time to get down,
I can get out nice.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yes, So let's talk about k I am. It's stuck
with features. What was the most.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Surprising moment in bringing this project together and what made
him feel like a masterpiece?
Speaker 5 (09:09):
To you When I said, when I listened to every
track individually and I just stopped writing to it whatever
came on my mind. That's what went on each song
with Lil Wayne. I had to laugh at him because
(09:31):
when he was you know, he's big talking, and I
was like, I can I can talk better than him,
and I come up with a let's have a tombstone
revealed That was funny to me. That's something different I
(09:52):
never heard on the track nice all in all, just piece,
bat piece track. That track. I listened to each one
of those artists in tract to pull their mood in there,
in what they was thinking into the lyrics that I
(10:15):
was writing. I didn't have a problem writing for all
eight of those individuals because I didn't done it before.
My track record is serious. I'm very dedicated. Yeah, I'm
very dedicated, and I'm very crafty, and I just try
to come up with some punchlines, some metaphors, some things
(10:39):
that people haven't heard before. Okay, I caught that this
is real life when when I'm writing, I don't play
no games because I won't the audience to feel what
I'm saying. Because maybe when we're rapping and talking, it
(11:01):
can help somebody out there. And that's what I try
to write, write about clarity. I write about life and
some some of it is about my life. I try
to put it in there somebody needs to hear it,
and it's all it's fun. The music is fun. You
(11:22):
can dance to it, you can share it, and it
just comes from the heart. I just like working with these,
with the other artists. We bring our thoughts together and
we make masterpieces out of it. And this music of mine,
it would last forever. Someone out there will always play
(11:42):
Miss g track.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Oh yeah, so you have roots in Chicago. What was
life like growing up?
Speaker 5 (11:56):
I was born and raised in Chicago. I did a
lot of and from games. To be honest, it was
it was just kind of tough growing up in the nineties,
all those games and everything up there. Just thank god
I made it. I have a lot of friends that
didn't make it. They're deceased. It taught me a lot.
(12:17):
When I got older, I was saying, I'd be glad
when I do get old so I can move from Chicago.
And I did. When I got old enough, I did
get it. It was just violence. I had some happy
days there. My roots are there. I played in a
major red there, I was in the parade. I did
(12:38):
a lot of fun things in Chicago. But it's also
once that is horror because you see a lot of
stuff when you growing up. We shouldn't be saying.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
M yeah, how are you doing? Yeah? Were you doing
music in Chicago?
Speaker 5 (12:57):
I was in some talent shows. I wasn't writing music
in Chicago. I was doing talent shows and I was
in the parade there and I did work. And I
didn't start writing music until I got into Kansas City.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
Yeah, so okay, so I have like you started in Chicago,
but you ended up in Texas.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Where did Kansas City fit into this story?
Speaker 5 (13:29):
I moved in Kansas City, and we're not going come
up there in ninety three and I was just sitting
sitting in my living room and I just started writing
poems and writing sentences, and like, why am I writing
(13:50):
a poem? And why am I writing a sentence? You know,
I'm kind of asking myself and this. I just started
writing listening to music and actually just started writing. I
noticed I started getting better and better and better, and
I think I kind of mastered it. That's how I
(14:11):
actually started sitting in my living room, I just took
a pen and just started writing.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Yeah, when you start turning?
Speaker 3 (14:21):
When did you start turning your poems and writings into
actual songs?
Speaker 5 (14:26):
When in twenty I believe twenty twenty one, I was
at my daughter's house in her living room. I wrote
my first song, I Am Me sitting on her couch
I kid you not. I went and recorded it. I
(14:51):
sure did.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
Wow, And you wrote your first song on your Dartish couch.
And then eventually he went to the studio and recorded it.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
I sure did so.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
And the birth of Mischief happened at that point where
you going by the name is g At that point.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
I was, I was going by my my, my government name,
Marietta Grant.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
Why did you shorten it to miss Gief?
Speaker 5 (15:24):
I was working with one of the girl that worked
and she was like, if that's too long, he said,
She said that that ain't is long. Cut it down
to miss Gief. She said that picture. I was like,
I'm gonna try it.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
Then I just changed it to Miss g Yeah, that
is a pretty long name, Marietta Grant.
Speaker 2 (15:48):
But it'll have been.
Speaker 3 (15:49):
Cool either way, Marietta Grant or Miss gif M. All right,
so all right, it's cool. All right, guys, are you
ready to get into some music? I hope you are.
I hope you are. Oh you also collapse with young
Mouth and with Snoop Dogg.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
I just did, man, I was that.
Speaker 5 (16:13):
Working with Yung Mouth. When I heard that verse of
his I was stung. I'm like, who is this? Because
I just know who he was and his music. I
didn't know what to do. I have to really, I
(16:35):
have to really think. I said, how can I beat
this guy? I said, he's so clever, he's so swift.
Let me come up with I had to come up
with something. And when I came up with it, it
was a master p the Lord have mercy. We jam
low lo ain't nobody, ain't nobody top low low tough.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
