like a virus. You know. They need no proof or other support.
Once they're yours, they're yours untilyou get rid of them. And the

way you could do that is toprove to yourself that your doubts are wrong.

He is changed in a way thatwe consume music. And with that,
let's welcome our special guest to thisshow. Hello, Hello, Hello,
welcome, welcome, Welcome Hill.It was going on, so we

(05:17):
are excited that you are here.I didn't want to get your name correctly.
Is that Musha clothes? Here youare It's Marshall, Marshall almost like
Marshall exactly, exactly like Marshall.I think I was really I'm sort of

(05:41):
young when I came up with it, and I had a hard time pronouncing
ours, so it sort of becamelike a like an evil laugh. That
makes sense, it exactly. Yeah, he got you. I love it,
man, I love it, man, Straight out the Gate your track
watch TV forever you talk about observingsomeone lost in the TV screen. Can

(06:06):
you recall a moment when you felttruly observed and understood by someone else and
if that part influence your artists reany interesting? Yeah? Yeah, I
guess my perspective was really literal oneway coming from me, and it was

(06:30):
sort of being unobserved that I thinkdescribes the feeling of that something in particular,
like wishing, wishing you could bethe one who is observed, or
noticing that you're always observing someone elsewhen you want, you know, feelings
to be reciprocated. Yes, indeed, So you have this unique flavor in

(06:59):
your music that you know that's reallyhard to put a finger on, and
I'm interested. Yeah man, yeah, man, it's so dope. Tell
me what started this passion for music? In you. When I grew up
playing piano, and I guess Isort of always held a disconnect with my

(07:21):
hands and in the sense of hunger. I wanted to be able to do
more things. And even when Istarted seeing It's still it was still like,
you know, I felt a littlecloser to music, was still not
maybe as close as I wanted toget. So you know, once,

(07:42):
once I was able to skive myhands on the computer and start messing around
with the waves themselves, just likethe entire frequency spectrum, it opened up
all these possibilities and gave me powerto control and manipulate a lot of a
lot of what you're not able todo just through playing the instrument. When

(08:05):
when everything that is possibly heard bythe human ear becomes the instrument, I
think those possibilities get really exciting. And you know, technology plays a huge
role in this, and pushing thatand stretching that to it's limit is also
a big part of what gives musictoday it's feel. And when I heard

(08:31):
watch TV Forever, it took mesomewhere special. What inspired you to write
such a thought provoken piece. Soin the moment I was really trying my
best to just you know feel it. Most of my songs do follow an
introspective course, but this one inparticular is sort of I would say this

(08:56):
song is a lot less loaded thanother songs I have in the way I
saw myself doing it was, youknow, just be be a simp pretty
much like sort of just relish inthe simple feeling of you know, just
wanting someone. Whereas I think othersounds I can get maybe a little two

(09:22):
layered or a little too pretentious orintellectually even watch TV forever, It's sort
of about a more simpler yearning feelingwhich I had always called myself I needed
to I needed to produce just attractthat piano, a really convinced and convicted

(09:48):
vocal, and a bit of aninteresting spin, but have the focus still
be on something classic like a pianoand voice. Yeah, for sure,
man, the song. You know, there's a lot of ideas that you

(10:11):
explore over time with this song. Can you give us a glimpse to some
of those ideas that that you kindof explore along the way. Sure.
So. A prominent sound I featureis a TV button clicking sort of like

(10:33):
those old TVs. You can hearthe click periodically about the song. I
realized that at different sections I couldactually boost specific frequencies of that same sound
of the TV button being pushed andharmonize them with what was happening with the
music. So that's one example ofhow I tried to literalize what I hear

(10:58):
in my head and what I'm feeling. Absolutely and it sounds like Boy next
Door was a real turning point foryou. How does this project differ from
your previous works. It's my firstgroup of works that I've published, so

(11:20):
I think that's always a milestone.I think when you're always worried about the
next single mindset For me, itis a little too episodic, you know,
trying to fit, you know,in the entire period of my life
into just one song, and thenand then you know, having to share
it, having to promote it,having to go through all the hoops.

(11:45):
I think I just I felt likea squirrel or something. It was just
you know, frantic, and you'reyou're just like looking around, and like
I found it. I found ita lot, but really really free to
be able to sit down and kindof just produce whatever I needed to produce

(12:07):
from feeling knowing that nothing is comingout until I have a group of works.
I think that was a really goodfeeling because I can make the group
as big and ball as I wantand get rid of what I don't want
to share. It's not this processof, you know, every every single
song could be the next single, where I'm you know, a lot more

(12:28):
stressed and trying to pack way toomuch into one little thing. Absolutely.
I think I've read somewhere or youmentioned staying sane, you know, by
focusing on the next work. Howdo you cope when the inspiration will runs
a little dry? Yeah, that'sa that's a great question. I think

(12:56):
inspiration, Yeah, insiration stuff becauselike many days, it's it's about just
showing up and and physically putting inthe work and the time. You know,
like it's almost like a voodoo thingsyou just stand in the studio for
like you know that minimum time.Every day things happen, even though you

(13:16):
feel like there are many days whereyou're uninspired. But overall, it's just
taught me that you need to showup regardless of you know, how excited
you are or how how inspired you'refeeling. In the first person point of
view, it's like you got toput your body in the space where you're

(13:37):
you're doing what you love and recognizethat your ability to do that time and
time again is probably closer to whatyou'd like to call inspiration than I think
in the beginning, sort of thatmagical feeling that you feel gives you permission.

(14:00):
It really is as simple. It'sjust placing yourself in spaces you need
to be it, you know.Yeah, yeah, and you have this
raw emotion that that comes through yourtracks. Is there ever a moment,
yeah, when you feel maybe thatyou share too much? I love that

(14:20):
question. Yeah, Yeah, that'sthat's been what it all has felt like,
really, because I I didn't startreleasing music until I felt I really
had something to say, and forwhatever reason, it's a part of how

(14:43):
I release music and and what inspiresme too. You know, I think
some songs are releasedable versus you know, some songs you put in the time
to make, and you know, once you've gone through the process, just
keep it for yourself. You know, it doesn't need to see the light
of day. But for me,it's like I find this strange power in

(15:09):
oversharing. But at the right moment, of course, because on a normal
day to day basis I'm not sharingvery much about myself at all, and
I'm very quiet. That being said, when you go through life sort of
unbothered and quiet, people might beginassuming that, you know, there's not

(15:35):
much more to you. So forme, yeah, you gotta just every
once in a while, you mightthrow out something that makes all of your
close friends look at you a littlesideways and absolutely, man, so what's
going on? But you gotta keepit slicy, you know, yeah you
do. Man. I could relateto that so much. I used to

(15:58):
be an artist and also quiet quietas well. Just because I'm quiet doesn't
mean I don't have an opinion. So exactly when the album came out,
all these family members were looking atme like yo, and you know how
to think, like what what doyou mean? It's like, oh,
I never really offered my opinion becauseno one asked. I assume because I'm

(16:22):
quiet, I didn't have one,And now they're in my side of the
story, and I was like, you know what, maybe I forgot about
that. It should have just youknow, maybe on another angle, because
it's like I think I overshare it. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
think. Yeah. It's like it'salways juggling quantity with with quality, right,

(16:45):
Yeah, it's like if you're ifyou're if you're given its allurequency,
people might assume that the quality ofof what's underneath you as a human is
also you know, thing of that. And I think that's you know,
it's very kind of put me intothe box that that's unfair. But I

(17:10):
think that in and oversharing and makingpeople uncomfortable too, it's like that's one
of the few things that can actuallyyou know, get people to start conversations,
and nowadays it's you know, ifit's not talked about, it's sort
of kind of get flipped away.So I think I think it's actually a
gift to be able to you know, makes people a little bother them a

(17:36):
little bit, you know, Ohyeah, shake things of just a little
bit, just a little bit,Yeah, yeah, yeah. Alright,
alright, alright man, we're gettingready to play your single man introduced to
Drag Force. Sure, this isMarshall and you're about to listen to watch
TV forever. Alright, alright, here it is Gosh day two. We'll

(17:57):
be right back. You're twenty six. At twenty nine, it will have
been a whole decade of holding inwhat could happen. I never miss you

(18:18):
is what my character would say ifour lines were a screenplay. But itding
truth of the matter. There's nothing weather to the with you where I

(18:45):
can sit and watch you. Watchedhevfoever and I can listen to the people
in the screen make you la ina way I could never, no matter
how hardly, try a fairy talewhen you find noting time to the sign

(19:15):
watching you watch wishing I could besurly cannot do n Let me the truth
of the this time thing. Itwill up to this you where I can

(19:45):
sit and watch you watched he beforeever. They can listen to the people
pose and spat, make you peopleno matter time time. The friend to

(20:10):
find that needs to sign cook can'tbe my friends you like, so you

(20:40):
look the cook can don't. Alright, alright, welcome back again. That

(21:34):
was Watch TV Forever by Marshall.Let's go ahead and welcome him back.
Man. That was an incredible, incredible record. Alright, alright, welcome
back? Yeah, definitely, wowman. Personal growth is evident in your

(21:55):
recent works. Is there a lifeevent or experience that that kind of push
towards this evolution? Uh? Yeah, Yeah, For sure, I think
the most powerful experiences in life arethe most human ones for me are always
the but there really abstract feelings andemotional feelings. I think, even though

(22:15):
we have to socialize with so manypeople every day just to get one little
thing done, the hardest thing todo in life is still the socialize and
to understand another human And I thinkI think a part of that is that
there's always there's always room to climb. You know, you can know someone

(22:40):
really superficially, and you can knowmany of the people really really really superficially,
but when it comes time for oneon one, the room to get
to know someone better keeps keeps expanding, and you know, while it is
really challenging, it's it's continually inspiring. So so yeah, absolutely, alright,

(23:03):
alright, man, you're not slowingdown after the Boy next Door project.
You've released another EP and it's preppingfor another. How do you keep
that momentum going? I guess juststarting to think more long term than the
head. Music is really passionate,so you know, it feels really good

(23:26):
to get caught up and you know, get attached to every single single,
but I think you know, juststep out zooming out looking at the bigger
picture and be like, oh,like what do I want? Have have
finished by a certain time and youknow, really holding yourself to it.
Alright, alright, alright, wherecan our listeners commit with you? On
