Speaker 5 (03:56):
Doing good? Doing good?

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Glad to hear it.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
So fellas again, welcome to the show where we are
always excited when you guys come through. This is like
the fifth time, yes, sir, so each time it's been
a glorious moment. So you guys have always carried a
strong message in your music, Uh, but lately what's been

(04:21):
Wayne or lifting your spirit the most? As you continue
putting truth into sound.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
Well, especially with Battle of Survival Remix, is dealing with
the climate of today. There's people losing their jobs, there's
people going through depression, there's there's people losing hope, and
uh it's affecting a lot of people right now.

Speaker 6 (04:50):
And a message uh we this in sound fatic survival.
Take it, you know, around the world for the people
understand what's going on, because a lot of up and
down is going on right now with the politics, people

(05:10):
trying to make it and there trying to put the groceries,
you know, the gas that rent, you know, everything like devil,
don't lose fate no matter what unless your faith keep strong,
keep from absolutely.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Yeah, that's a tough thing to do when so many
things are uncertain and you guys name you know, from
losing jobs to just trying to supply groceries for your
family has been a daunting task for a lot of
people over the last few years since COVID.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
By the way, So yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
I've seen a large uptick of homelessness even in my area.
And there's all colors out there, Mexican, white, and black.
So I know it's getting real.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
I know it's getting real for a lot of people, Yes.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Sir, and seeing this a battle survival, you know, if
your listeners listen to the song and pull up the video.
You know, hopefully this song would inspire and motivate the
person to try harder regardless if you fall down, you know,
is that where you faught out? Is how you get

(06:24):
back up? Don't don't just just stay down and cry
to get back up and keep trying.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
Having faith in Jesus, you know, I mean, okay, how
dark it is, because you get faith in Jesus.

Speaker 7 (06:37):
At the end of the tunnel, you're gonna see the light, right,
That's right.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
So Battle of Survival remix hits different this time around.
What's part the decision to bring that track back to
life now?

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Well, the song was originally recorded in twenty thirteen. Other
Gary Kay, he was talking to me about it earlier
this year. Reference what's going on with the politics. We
know people that's getting off of from Medicare and Medicaid.
They're struggling and don't know what to do and how

(07:18):
to do it, and some of them are losing faith,
losing the hope. And we feel that that was the haben.
Once you listen to the song, it should encourage a
person to maintain their faith because God is always in control.

Speaker 2 (07:41):
He is He is Uh, what changed musically or emotionally
between the original and this version.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
Well, we we actually added different keyboards, a different drum pattern.
We kept the lyrics and the vocal. We left that
alone because we felt that it was strong. But we
beast up the songs. We had a horse so right,

(08:12):
we had a new horse section and the first song
actually had a different video and we updated that video
to incorporate it, to incorporate what's what's going on right
now for our remix?

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Right? Yeah, I love it. I love it.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
Has the audience responded differently compared to his first release?

Speaker 5 (08:36):
Well, yes, yes, sir. When when we first released it,
within two weeks it generated over twenty six thousand views.

Speaker 7 (08:47):
Wow, you know it currently has I think like.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
Thirty seven thousand views within a month time. That's why
we're utilizing strong i PR for motion or campaign, and
that's why we're on your show against your absolutely absolutely.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
Yes, sir, is sir, so this remix feels profetic. How
much of your music is created based on current events?

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Well, we allowed the flow to take place. Our first
song that we did with the solid PR, his Door
is Opened. Uh, basically it's a spiritual song. It wasn't
necessarily motivated by current events. It was basically motivated by

(09:44):
personal experiences.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Mhmm. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Do you ever feel a spiritual push to release something
at the right time?

Speaker 5 (09:56):
Well, sir, especially with about Little Survival, Uh, we feel
this is the right time to re release the song. Spiritually,
is is coming at us, just like you said during
the opening of the show, your body, mind, and spirit,

(10:17):
that's what we feel with That's that's pushing us to
really push.

Speaker 6 (10:22):
The song because there's a lot of there's a lot
of evilness and weakness out there, and you got to put.

Speaker 7 (10:28):
On the whole armor of guy. Correct, correct, that's right.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
What does discernment look like in your creative process?

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Well, as far as that's better survival and and and
and putting out our songs, we we at times. Well,
my brother Gary k is a deacon of the church
and he also incorporates a different difficult verses and you know,

(11:03):
doing our Baraday our sections, he would bring that up.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
Yes, we had one verse in like Taxami before seventeen.
You know, we have perform agencry shall prosper. You know
every time that rise against your jestment shall be condemned.
This is the Russians of God and the other one
is Galaysian five twenty two and twenty three. But the fruit,

(11:29):
you know, of the spirit, love, joy, peach, section, gent goodness, faithfulness, meetness, tempers,
you know, So we we keep that focused at all
times everything we do.

Speaker 8 (11:46):
Absolutely five decades of music as the R and B
pop five appearances here, what keeps you guys in love
with this process?

Speaker 5 (11:58):
Well, sir, again, it's God. We know that God is
blessing us. We know because as for fifty years. We
put out a first song in nineteen seventy five and
we're still here. I have to admit there's times where
you know, I sometimes challenge, challenge to certain things in

(12:19):
my life. But once you have that dream, that fire
is out of you. You know, you keep pushing and
you and you do not allow anybody to remove that dream.

Speaker 6 (12:35):
And especially when we're talking about Jesus. You know, most
of ourselves we put up there about God Jesus. And
if we hit one person, yeah, who have lost faith
and bringing them back into the realm of God, we
have done our job.

Speaker 7 (12:54):
Oh yeah, you know, we have done a job. If
we hit more than one, that's total total blessing. I mean,
that's what our purpose is, to bring people back to God.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
You know, because because like I said, we all had
our personal experiences with COVID and you know, for our
conversation the last time, you know, uh, I had it
twice and even now some of the reminists of it
is it is horseness, you know. So you know, we

(13:26):
got to deal with that. And you know, so when
we go to the suit studio, you know, we got
to you know, do certain exercises with the voice and
see if it works. And if it doesn't work, that
we've got to come back. You know. So what we're
saying is regardless on what's going on in your life,
you have to continue to keep trying to keep keep pushing.

(13:48):
You know, we're all going to experience some type of
health issues, but do not allow that to define who
you walk.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
That's right. As your definition of success changed since you
guys began since the early days.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
Oh absolutely, when we was younger, we had a different
grasp on success. Uh As you get older, you realize
success is relatives, you know, and everybody can't be a
Michael Jackson or Stevie Wonder or a Drake or Beyonce
what have you, but you can be the best that

(14:29):
you can be. As as as we got older, we
see things differently. We see that in order to get
from point A to point B, you got you have
to continue to try and you need positive people in
your life to to really to be successful nowadays because uh,

(14:51):
what's happening is you know, people can uh sell the
soul and you know, and you have to be except
be careful, but you sign.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
On you know nowadays.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
Right, You mentioned before that your family has a deep
musical group.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
What legacy do you hope the Stewarts.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
Leave for the next generation of musicians and artists coming up?

Speaker 5 (15:18):
Well, that's a very very good question.

Speaker 6 (15:25):
I'm like me, I would say I would say, first
of all, putting guy first, no matter everything you do,
putting him first, no matter what go let's go up
and down, put guy first.

Speaker 7 (15:40):
And if you're if you're an entertainment.

Speaker 6 (15:43):
Doing music right, spiritual stuff, positive stuff that reflect what's
going on. I mean, people will get that more, you know,
positive spiritually. That's that's what are our goal if we
want to leave for a legacy with our music.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
Have any younger family members stepped into the music ministry
yet well?

Speaker 5 (16:08):
As far as the music or the ministry.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
We have our our nephew, great nephew. He played the
trombone even high school. Right now, Yeah, he's.

Speaker 7 (16:22):
Getting more jazzy with it, you know. Birth he was
real timmy with it. Now he getting real jaffy. He
walk around with it. Now he jazzing it up right now.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
And and he's trying to mimic his uncles because you know,
because you never know who's watching, you see, So you know,
we've got to make sure our characters is on points,
our morals is on points. And you know, actually, you know,
at this age, it's kind of easy to make sure

(16:55):
that your character and your morals are on point because
we put God first and we love to help people.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Yeah, but I also believe too.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
As you get older, you know, your tolerance for foolishness
kind of you know, the windows I'm getting up there,
and you know, people cutting me off don't piss me off,
but it's like other little small things that irritate me,
and every now and then I find myself becoming someone else.

Speaker 3 (17:30):
In those moments.

Speaker 2 (17:32):
But you guys are doing such a great job in
you know, role models and standing your faith, living your faith.
What advice are you guys passing down that wasn't told
to you?

Speaker 5 (17:46):
Well, especially with the younger generation with the music see
old schoo is they tell you about music business? Is
that how good you are with the music, You must
learn the business because that's that's where your money loves.
And I would definitely tell that the younger people read. Read,

(18:11):
Read as much as you can about the business, about
about the three sixty deals, about the publishing, the copyrights,
you know, the merchandising. Read, continue to uh educate yourself
because if the only thing you're doing is just music

(18:31):
and you don't know nothing about the business, you will
go broke.

Speaker 7 (18:34):
Are are people go to?

Speaker 5 (18:35):
Are people going to take money from you and sell
from you?

Speaker 7 (18:39):
And and don't.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
Side deals that's gonna you know, put you in a
position to sell your soul?

Speaker 4 (18:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
Well, you guys are brothers, bandmates and spiritual partners. What's
your conflict resolution style?

Speaker 5 (18:57):
Well, sometimes when when things are hitting the heads, what
we do is that a part I talk to you tomorrow,
you know see and you know wisdom dictations. You know,
if you're going to argue and fuss and holler, that's
not gonna have you, uh resolve the issue.

Speaker 6 (19:19):
And sometimes you can be in the studio right you know,
then the other guests would come in the studio right
then they they shake your hand.

Speaker 7 (19:28):
You know this in this spirit might not be right
and shaking your hands, and you take that that spirit
to come in to you and you.

Speaker 6 (19:34):
May say something to you, to your brother or to
another band members that you normally we're not fake, so
that the person who comes.

Speaker 7 (19:41):
In that studio is not right. So everybody would you
shake hands is not always friendly.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
And I do agree with that. It's like a spiritual warfare.

Speaker 9 (19:51):
You know.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
Some some people don't like to be hugged because of that.

Speaker 7 (19:55):
Premise, you know.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
And some people don't like to shake hands you know
us that and some people don't like just strangers to
come into their homes because of that. You know. So
you have to be careful because everybody that gives you
a compliment, it's not your friend. Anybody shut your hands.

Speaker 6 (20:17):
Like that sometimes sometimes sometimes the.

Speaker 7 (20:20):
Devil con there.

Speaker 6 (20:21):
You test your spirit correct, you know, then you may
take it home to your wife as your kids boom.

Speaker 7 (20:27):
Then you may say why did I say that?

Speaker 6 (20:29):
Yeah you think about it, boom, yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:33):
Yeah, a lot of times we've be in those rooms,
was like, man, your handshake doesn't match your.

Speaker 10 (20:38):
Smile, right absolutely, is it me?

Speaker 3 (20:49):
Or is it you?

Speaker 5 (20:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (20:55):
Yeah, right, yes, sir.

Speaker 2 (20:59):
All right, guys, we're about to get into some awesome music.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
It is called.

Speaker 2 (21:02):

put the stewarts in our traditional hot seat where they
can perform for us if they want to sing, rap,
spoken word, tell us a joke, tell us a story,
play instruments, give some advice, or do nothing at all.

Speaker 11 (22:39):
That you can't hold on much more. God, don't you
know things that don't kill you?

Speaker 3 (22:50):
They get.

Speaker 10 (22:52):
Just lies like their Jason test.

Speaker 12 (22:56):
You don't know do your best God, God, God ere.

Speaker 9 (23:33):
E Wimen two and fame reminded them women brow and
that fame can do common action from all.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
The direction of the honor of God.

Speaker 10 (23:55):

Speaker 7 (26:00):
From Romans chapter ten, verse nine through thirteen.

Speaker 6 (26:07):
Right now, if thou confessed with that math, lord Jesus
should believe in their heart that God had raised him
from the dead, thou should be saved Roman ten ten.
So with the heart man believes unto righteousness, if their
math confession is made into salvation Roman ten eleven. So
if the scripture says whosoever believed on him should not

(26:29):
be ashamed Roman ten twelve. For there's no difference between
the Jews and the Greek for the same word. Overall,
it's rich hunt all that call upon him Roman ten thirteen,
for whosoever called unnamed Lord shall be saved.

New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
