both two beats of the same heart. And he moves
through life like a choir prayer. Every step a confession,

(01:44):

he created Foolish Games, he wasn't just writing a song.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
How are you pretty good man? Welcome to the show.
How's it going?

Speaker 6 (04:19):
Thank you so much great?

Speaker 4 (04:21):
How are you doing good man? Thanks for asking so man,
We are excited that you were here with us tonight.
Before we really just kick off everything. What's been on
your heart and mind?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
Lady, you know.

Speaker 7 (04:35):
What's been in my heart and mind. I've just been
keeping my head down, working really hard, creating, rehearsing, you know,
perfecting my craft to as much as I can, and
just trying my best to live through life and really,
you know, be a good person and a good artist.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yes, sir, yes, sir, oh Man, just just for fine man,
What do you define as a good person?

Speaker 7 (05:02):
A good person is somebody that that doesn't do anything obviously,
you know, the common sense good and bad. That somebody
is living with the full, hard and open heart and
and has good intentions.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I like that. What about a good artist?

Speaker 7 (05:20):
A good artist is an artist that loves and appreciates
himself first and foremost, so then the rest of the
people and the crowds can appreciate and love the artists
as well.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
Nice all right, all right? So foolish games feels intimate,
and you know what, I Mario, I don't know why
people play games and relationships, you know, or or with
life like you know, you you play a foolish game,
you win a foolish prize sometimes, you.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Know, and you put a life of me.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
I don't understand why people love to play with with
people you know. Yeah, yeah, but you know, foolish like said,
foolish game scenes intimate like you. But what was the
emotional spark that started the song?

Speaker 7 (06:09):
The emotional spark that started foolish Games was like a
deep reflection on my relationships and my friendships and the
way people team me and the way I see people,
you know, because it goes both ways. I also participate
in foolish games sometimes and I try to catch myself,
which I tried to describe in the song, and I

(06:30):
think that it's you know, wonderfully Wonderfully said that you
play foolish games and you win foolish prize, people forget
about it. And I think that I definitely am not
that type of a person. And that's what I try
to deliver in the song.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Yeah, at least you admit man that you play foolish
games too.

Speaker 7 (06:52):
I think we all make mistakes, you know, everybody at
some point, like you know, especially if something is you
can get something faster or you know, it could be
anything in life, and it's important to have self reflection
and self searching to who you really are as a
human being and as an artist.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Yeah, when you're catching yourself in those foolish moments. Is
it more like you're taking advantage or you are becoming
or you're so self aware that what you're doing could
damage someone or even damage yourself.

Speaker 7 (07:26):
No, no, no, I've never That's not what I was
talking about.

Speaker 6 (07:29):
Foolish games from my understanding.

Speaker 7 (07:31):
Also because it could be it could have a wide spectrum, right,
It could be foolish games. Also could be partying, you know,
and playing those foolish games and being around.

Speaker 6 (07:42):
The wrong crowd. And that's what I tried to say
in the song.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
You know, I have full house of people and I
feel lonely, you know, So it's that means this is
not my crowd, and that means that I'm starting to
lose myself. So that's what I'm mainly meant in that
sense in really to me, the way people see, the
way people understand the song is could be anything.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
You know.

Speaker 7 (08:05):
Some people took it the way you did, saying, you know,
taking advantage of people, which also meant that when I
said who wore a mask and who just wanted catch?
You know, people take advantage of people all the time,
but particularly for myself, I meant the full of games
of nightlife and partying yeah, yeah, I mean that.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
Works both ways, right, Yeah, taking advantage of situations, whether
that's like, you know, work actually work, you know, clocking
in somewhere, you know, you may take an additional break
here or longer here.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
You know, there's a lot of ways you can take
advantage of a situation that works in your favor, for sure,
you know, for sure, yes, sir, so.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
You called it a hip hop prayer with electronic point.
How do you see spirituality and music intertwining in your art?

Speaker 7 (09:00):
Always been very i want to say, religion curious. I've
always been studying different religions I've been I love the
Catholic Church symbolism and I love Cabbala symbol I mean
I I was really really into it as a teenager
and as a young adult, and of course when I
started to produce music and create music videos, that was

(09:23):
a no brainer that it would be in my music.
But when I when it comes to spirituality in general,
I think I'm a very spiritual person. I'm very in
tune with myself and with the I'm very self aware
and yeah so, and I definitely have a very intimate
relationship with God, whom I was talking to in the

(09:45):
song and that's how the song started. I was on
the plane from Seattle to Los Angeles and I looked
out the window and I genuinely just started like talking
to myself, you know, talking to the Lord helped to
make me see who's forever friend and who's my enemy.
So yeah, I think spirituality plays a big part in
my artistry.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
Yeah, you know, when you get those glimpses like that,
when you could see who's fake and who's.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
Genuinely there for you.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
I mean, we're all humans, We're all flawed, you know,
we do things that we know, not what we do
all the time.

Speaker 7 (10:19):
And of course there's also a fine line between being
fake and you know, rising to the situation, like wearing
a different hat in different you know scenario. Yeah, but
it's still important to keep the core values that you have,
you know, to your yeah, and carried with you through life.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
Indeed, indeed, so when you're when you when you are
having those moments, how do you draw the line in
the same between your friends or you know, the.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
People who you realize are wearing masks time?

Speaker 7 (10:53):
You know, it's it's it only comes with time. Because
I wish I had a better judgment of character because
so I tend to naively trust people. Well, at least
I used to natively trust everybody, and then you know,
not everyone.

Speaker 6 (11:08):
Has necessarily the best intentions. So time shows.

Speaker 7 (11:12):
And the line for me, it depends on the severity
of the case. You know, for example, if.

Speaker 6 (11:19):
It's if it's a big deal and it's a betrayal,
then there's no return for me.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Yeah. Really, what about forgiveness?

Speaker 7 (11:28):
Forgiveness I can forgive, but I don't think that I can.
Depends again, as I said, depends on the situation. There
are some really evil people in this world that you know,
it's just best to stay away. It's not even that
I wouldn't forgive. I think it's important to forgive so
you can.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Flit better, as simple as that.

Speaker 6 (11:47):
But definitely better to stay away from certainty.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
Yeah, forgiveness is good for the heart, absolutely absolutely.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
So.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
You also wear a lot of hats, mini hats, zir choreographer, singer,
visual artists. How do you How do you keep those
identities from competing with each other and instead make them collaborate.

Speaker 7 (12:11):
I'm going to be very honest with you, sometimes those
identities do compete because, for you know, my daytime job
as a dance teacher, and I have a specific, very
strict schedule, often ten hours a day, and sometimes I
have to leave to work and I and I have
lyrics floating into my head, you know, and it's such
an agony because I want to stay home and keep writing, writing, writing,

(12:35):
but I also understand that I have to go to
the studio and work and make money. So it's it's
it's not always easy.

Speaker 6 (12:42):
But it's also something that I really love. I love everything.

Speaker 7 (12:46):
I'm just honestly so lucky and blessed to do every
everything I do in my life. I love I love dancing,
I love writing, I love creating, I love choreographing, I
love filming. So I think it's when you love something,
it's easier to stay on track and to navigate.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Yeah, man, you're living a creator's life. Yes, got to be.
It's gotta be beautiful.

Speaker 7 (13:12):
I mean it takes a lot of you know, risk
and sacrifice because it's never guaranteed that your creative, that
your art will be recognized, a you know that people
will like it or you can make money off of it.
But to me, it was like I didn't care, you know,
I knew I wanted to dance, and I knew I
wanted to do music, and if I have the blessing

(13:34):
to make money off of it, it's even better.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
But I'm gonna do it either way.

Speaker 4 (13:39):
Indeed, indeed, and speaking of art man, the music video
is a visual masterpiece.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Oh my goodness, thank you.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Yeah man, And guys, if you haven't seen the music video,
it is super dope.

Speaker 3 (13:52):
It's incredible. You have to watch it. He h.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
I Mario portrays every character himself. So with that being said,
what does that say about the inner dialogue that you're
having with yourself in the song?

Speaker 7 (14:09):
It's the constant, constant search for clarity, and it's and
I'm talking to myself through the mirror. And when I
when I meant that, I wasn't like actually looking at
myself through in the mirror.

Speaker 6 (14:23):
But it's like self reflection. And yes, I.

Speaker 7 (14:26):
Did play all the characters in the video, including the
dancers in the back, because I wanted to make it
very specific that it's my own demons and my own
fears and my own aspirations. All these people represent something
you know in the and yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
And you wanted to do this in a church, right, Yes.

Speaker 7 (14:49):
I wanted to have a choreography done in the church specifically,
because I actually I can't even explain why. That's just
when I close my eyes and I was singing the
song and I came up with the choreography, I immediately
saw a vision of church on a neon cross, which
was you know, it's not always easy to find a
place like church with a neon cross in it. But yeah, yeah,

(15:14):
but my director Alex Falcon was just incredible and so
quick with everything. We found the location within an hour,
We booked everything, and we filmed everything in two weeks,
so it was just and we filmed everything in seven
hours the whole.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
That's incredible. Shout out to Alex.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
Shout out Alex.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Yeah, man, you mentioned clarity a few times, and have
you found any since writing the song.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
I think it's.

Speaker 7 (15:46):
Something that I'm always gonna be searching for, to be honest,
because uh, that's the beauty of being an artist. I
don't think I need to figure it out necessarily in
order to keep creating. It's like a samurai, you know.
It's it's it's all about the journey, not the destination.
So I will always be looking for more clarity, for

(16:06):
more answers and form. I'm a very curious person, so yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
Yeah, And just to go back on your skills, man, dance,
I believe it was your first language of expression.

Speaker 3 (16:20):
When did you start dancing?

Speaker 6 (16:23):
I first started dancing when I was about seven years old.

Speaker 7 (16:27):
After I watched after we got MTV because I'm from Crimea,
so we got MTV channel and I was watching it
for hours and hours a day, and I vividly remember
Michael Jackson's Thriller video was going on, and I learned
the whole choreography well wow, as.

Speaker 6 (16:44):
Much as I could at the age of seven or eight.

Speaker 7 (16:48):
And my grandma took me to dance classes because I
wanted to dance. I wanted to dance and I wanted
to sing, but we didn't really have singing lessons available anywhere,
so we just we just did dancing.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
Did you come from a musical family or das and family. No.

Speaker 7 (17:08):
My mom, however, was a figure ice skater when she
was very young, when she was very young, and my
grandma is a She used to play tennis, but definitely
not artistic family.

Speaker 6 (17:19):
However, my mom and my grandma.

Speaker 7 (17:23):
Have been listening to the most amazing music my whole childhood,
Like Michael Jackson, Prince, you know, Julio.

Speaker 6 (17:31):
Iglesias, and just many different artists that I grew up on.

Speaker 3 (17:36):
So so actually yes, kind of musical.

Speaker 6 (17:39):
Because music was playing in our house all the time.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Nice what kind of music.

Speaker 6 (17:46):
It was like eighties pop.

Speaker 7 (17:49):
My grandma loves rock, for example, she's a huge fan.
I don't even know if you know the band Slip Not, Yes,
you know, yeah, my grandma loves them. So it's like
it's it's very unusual. But yeah, so Julio, I Glad says,
was playing in our house, Michael Jackson, Madonna.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
A modern talking just just a bunch.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Of artists, you know, Yeah, yeah, man, that's just that's unique.
And I've never heard of a grandma that listens to Slipknot.

Speaker 7 (18:21):
I know, shout out to my grandma absolutely, man.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
So, man, before we get into the music, let's talk
about keeping the fire alive as a creator.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
I'm sure you know you could get you could easily
get wrapped up in the mundane like life processes, what
happens to live a life.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
But for you, man, what keeps your creative fire alive?

Speaker 8 (18:49):
Fire alive?

Speaker 7 (18:51):
I feel like, in a way I keep my creating
fire alive by constantly searching for more inspiration, but also
people around me. People around me keep my fire going
because I have a lot of I have a lot
of good people next to me who support me and
who love my music, who love my art, and that

(19:14):
just always pushes me forward.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
All right, all right, listeners, are you ready for some music?
We have an Orio with his song.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
Foolish Games, And then after we play the song, we'll
be back to put him in our traditional hot seats
where he could perform for us if he wants to.
He could rap, sing, do some spoken word, tell a joke,
tell a story, play an instruments.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Give some advice, or do nothing at all. That is
cool as well.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Cut for right now here, it is foolish games by you, Mario,
stay tuned, talking to.

Speaker 9 (20:08):
The Lord, help him make me see who's for I
have a friend, who's my enemy?

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Or who is there for love? Who just wanted a gash,
who's the real one and who just want a mess?

Speaker 10 (20:17):
Talking so myself.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Through the mirror, and I recognize.

Speaker 10 (20:21):
Who I'm staring add in the darkest night, keeping up
the face of my burning.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
So from the foolish games.

Speaker 11 (20:27):
It's not the days that bother me, though nights can
never let me sleep and lay shim hard to fathom it.
How come my thoughts are deep in any meaningless obedience.
My pendulum is still.

Speaker 9 (20:41):
I'm a fan of all my fantasies, even the ones
I killed them when in the easy bottom, stay hungry
and steering things up in this glorious country.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
I want to be clear in this life of affair
with chaos everywhere.

Speaker 9 (20:54):
I'm lost in the lights, but I gotta say every
time I go back, I feel like I want to
stay something real say. I live in a lay, live
in the lay. I'm from a lake, California. One in
the morning. For some the night's over, some getting horny.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
I never choose first.

Speaker 9 (21:10):
Mom, Mom, Sorry, I tread being good, but it's hell
of boring. I'm up and howling.

Speaker 10 (21:14):
I'm down and crowling in the Pilman life following my
calling my ice plot read my stomach's growing up and
fighting demons. But I keep the following song.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
Sockets the Lord help and make me seals for have
a friend.

Speaker 10 (21:26):
Who's and me who's.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
There for love. I just want my gshos the red one,
and I'll just water a mass dog and so myself through.

Speaker 12 (21:34):
The mirror and put of recognize one Sterinad in.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
The darkest night, giving up the flames of my barny.
So from the foolish game, audience to the Lord, help
and make me seals for as a friends.

Speaker 12 (21:46):
My aunt may Steve'll just want to gashos the red one,
and I'll just water an ass sockets myself through the
mirror and I to recognize one Steinad in the darkest night,
giving up.

Speaker 2 (21:58):
The flames of my barny. So from the foolish game, it's.

Speaker 9 (22:01):
My ideas and the Noso my phone. I got a
crowd in my place, but I still feel alone. I
feel like I shouldn't be the one to complains. Sometimes
I feel like I was made out of a stone,
and I don't want to kill it now, y'all hope Alimon,
now give me all the love. I'm gonna give it
back a promise now, I'm not changing palettes of my assault.
Don't you feel it now?

Speaker 2 (22:16):
I only want to see the good, but never gave me.

Speaker 9 (22:18):
How so I'm sogging super Lord, help and make me

Speaker 12 (22:30):
The minor and patter recognize long stemmer and I add
in the darkness and I gave.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
It not the flames of my art. So all from
the Foolish game.

Speaker 9 (22:38):
Things getting tense to find what is normal, the wolves
falling down.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
I don't even wobble.

Speaker 9 (22:43):
I used to be cold as diamonds are marble. The
power I hold it feels hell a hunt and in
times of distress, I stayed tall in the water. I
tried to impress, but was up for slaughter. I'm in
the trence. I'm feeling the mortal.

Speaker 10 (22:55):

Speaker 3 (23:54):
It's just dope.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
It's dope as a whole vibe, a whole cinematic vibe
when you watch it. So all right, let's go ahead
and invite you, Mario back, yo, yo, your back.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
And in our hot seats? Are you going to perform
for us?

Speaker 7 (24:12):
I honestly will just give the motivational quote to everybody's listening.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Nice, Can I go now? Yes, sir, Oh yeah.

Speaker 7 (24:24):
I just wanted to say that for everyone and anyone
who you know doesn't feel like they fit in, or
they do fit in, but they feel lonely on the
inside from whatever it could be childhood trauma, adult trauma,
fear of losing, or fear of being lost. It's okay
to feel to feel uncertain, it's okay to feel betrayed.

Speaker 6 (24:46):
It's okay.

Speaker 7 (24:47):
All these feelings are valid, and it's important to stay
yourself to not lose your inner spirit, inner fire, and
to never give up. As cliche as it sounds, because
a lot of people say it, but I feel like
every generation has to hear it, and whoever's listening to
me right now, I really hope that they believe in
themselves and in.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
Their craft and their art and in our talents. Yes, indeed, indeed,
all right you, Mario. Where can our listeners connect with you?

Speaker 3 (25:18):
On the Internet.

Speaker 6 (25:20):
I'm on Spotify and Apple Music.

Speaker 7 (25:22):
I'm on Instagram, I'm on x I'm on Facebook, I'm
on TikTok, I'm pretty much everywhere you can find where
social media is everywhere, O Mario.

Speaker 6 (25:35):

mic drop moment.

Speaker 7 (25:59):

Speaker 4 (25:59):
So, if Foolish Games was a mirror, what truth would
you want listeners to see in themselves?

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Out there hearing the song.

Speaker 7 (26:11):
That they can do anything, that they can be whoever
they want to be. Just like I was in the
music video, I was every character. I created my own reality,
and I want my listeners to believe that they can
create their own reality in any industry they're in, whether
it's music, acting, if it's not art related at all,

(26:31):
just believe in yourself.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Indeed, indeed, all right, all right, guys, tonight you Mario
reminded us that every art form, whether song or step
or dance routine, is a conversation with the soul. He
showed us that it's okay to question who's really with
you as we even go through those things if it

(26:54):
happens to you, and that the journey of finding yourself
can be the most beautiful choreography of all.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
His story isn't just about music. It's about motion, it's
about faith, it's about fire.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
He turns vulnerability into a visual language and paying into
a prayer. Youmorrow, Thank you so much for reminding us
to keep our spark alive and to never stop dancing
through the infinite portal. Family, make sure you scream Foolish
games now on all platforms, and follow you Mario on
all platforms. We'll have the links like I said earlier,

(27:30):

these creatives. And this isn't just radio, this is revival.

get into. Life is short, but there are plenty of

Ruthie's Table 4

Ruthie's Table 4

For more than 30 years The River Cafe in London, has been the home-from-home of artists, architects, designers, actors, collectors, writers, activists, and politicians. Michael Caine, Glenn Close, JJ Abrams, Steve McQueen, Victoria and David Beckham, and Lily Allen, are just some of the people who love to call The River Cafe home. On River Cafe Table 4, Rogers sits down with her customers—who have become friends—to talk about food memories. Table 4 explores how food impacts every aspect of our lives. “Foods is politics, food is cultural, food is how you express love, food is about your heritage, it defines who you and who you want to be,” says Rogers. Each week, Rogers invites her guest to reminisce about family suppers and first dates, what they cook, how they eat when performing, the restaurants they choose, and what food they seek when they need comfort. And to punctuate each episode of Table 4, guests such as Ralph Fiennes, Emily Blunt, and Alfonso Cuarón, read their favourite recipe from one of the best-selling River Cafe cookbooks. Table 4 itself, is situated near The River Cafe’s open kitchen, close to the bright pink wood-fired oven and next to the glossy yellow pass, where Ruthie oversees the restaurant. You are invited to take a seat at this intimate table and join the conversation.
