Hostdini. We have another special guestfor you guys who definitely want to stick
around for that. And as amatter of fact, text your buddies are
family members right now and let themknow that we are about to dive deep
into another interview. Before I bringmy guest on, I do want to
say you have to choose to succeed. How much responsibility are you willing to

(02:00):
take. The more responsibility that youassume, the more successful you will become.
Some people look at a difficult situationand say, oh, that's not
my problem or concern, and otherslook at the same situation and say,
I'll make it my concern. I'lldo something about it. If not me,

(02:20):
then who And guess who ends upbeing more successful. There are plenty
of perfectly reasonable and legitimate reasons toavoid responsibility, So why would anyone choose
to assume responsibility. Well, becausechoosing to take responsibility means choosing to achieve,
choosing to see, choosing action, and choosing to make a truly positive

(02:43):
difference. You can get by fairlywell without assuming most responsibility, but it
is that what you really want tojust get by the Next time you see
people running away from responsibility. Makeit the choice to get yourself running towards
it. Make the choice that willring you success an achievement, and choose
to take responsibility and you'll be choseto succeed. Take that from me,

(03:07):

Vigilante's radio life right here on Iheart'sRadio, and I'm your host, DNI.
Our interviews are designed to go beyondmusic, news, books, art,
acting, films, technology, education, entrepreneurship, entertainment, and sometimes
even past that thing that we callthe ego. Our interviews are designed to
go behind the scenes and into theminds of these incredible human beings, you

(04:35):
know, the ones we're out theregiven it. They're all for me,
for you, and for the world. Introducing I See Skywalking, the stylish,
confident Chicago native who moved to LAto continue pursuing his dream as a
hip hop artist and songwriter. Soas he delivers consistent quality music and content

(04:57):
to its fans, we will dwelld bur into his journey in life as
an independent artist. So with that, let's welcome I See Skywalking to the
show. Hello, Hello, welcome. What's good know? How you feeling.
I'm feeling good, man. It'sbeen about two or three years since
we last spoke. How's it going. None's going good. I ain't think

(05:18):
it was that long, man,but it's definitely going good. Yeah,
man, I think I think uh. During the pandemic all right, okay,
right right, right, time slides. So what have you been up
to, man in the past twoor three years? Oh? Man,

(05:38):
Man, been working all been puttingout a lot of music, a lot
of videos. I've been doing alot of shows different cities around the States.
Uh eight. Thing has been good, Man, been blessed. All
right, all right? So man, um, what's what's like the biggest

(05:59):
lesson life lesson that you've learned frompursuing your passion in the music industry.
Who It's a lot of life lessons, man. The most important one,
I don't know if it is thebiggest Onman. To me, the most
important one is you got to learnwho to trust. Gotten took a lot
of els like you no trusting thewrong people, whether it be man want

(06:23):
to be managers, promoters, aything. Man. You know, the music
business gets safety sometimes. So that'sprobably the number one. The one I
learned recently, man, is don'ttake anything for granted. Because I had
a situation one of my cameraman, unfortunate situations with him. It just made
me come and look at life alittle different. Oh yeah, is it

(06:47):
too personal to talk about? No, I mean it's really public information.
Man. Shout out to Lois andI hope you hope you feel better.
But he uh, it was onTMZ and everything. Um situation, he
was at a French Montana robh Froni'svideo shoot. Ten people ended up getting

(07:09):
shot randomly. He happened to beone of them and he had footage of
mind. But besides that, youknow, his life got after He's still
alive and everything well, but he'snot moving the same, you know.
So it's definitely definitely made me likemight take anything else for granted, you
know, absolutely, So can youshare with us your experience in transitioning from

(07:34):
Chicago to a LA as a hiphop artist and songwriter. Man, the
experience is is different from there tohear, you know, especially being from
Chicago growing up in the Middlewest,it was easy to get love because you
know, I'm around my people.Coming to a whole new city. It

(07:56):
took a while, but everything isyou know, the turn for the better.
Um. But they know Chicago LAis two totally different cultures. Like,
so you you gotta get you know, guy to have know how to
go in LA. You gotta getadjusted to the to the culture. Yes,
you big, I'm in Mississippi upspend some time in LA as well.

(08:22):
Was it a big culture shock toyou? Oh? It wasn't because
you know, um, growing up, everybody loved West Coast, whether it
was movies like Minister Society or music. You know, everybody loves Dre and
Snoop all that, um, thegame, you know. So it wasn't

(08:43):
really a culture So I kind ofknew what to expect. But you know,
like once you get in the mixand get to see everything, I'm
closing personal and his difference yep yep. So Man, as a lately,
you've been putting out quality music.I mean quality is how do you approach
creating quality of music and content foryour fans? Man? I really just

(09:05):
taking my time with him. Man, I'm sure the fans probably want me
to put out more, but Ilike I like to have quality. First,
Shout out to my engineering cav meand him always locked in. Shout
out to a fall, Shot outto dub my producers. Um, you
know, everybody everybody plays they role. Without them, it wouldn't be as

(09:28):
quality, you know what I'm saying. So definitely shout out to the team.
Absolutely. And you toured around theUS and cities of like Atlanta,
Chicago, New York, Miami,LA. Of course doing festivals like south
By Southwest, the Smirkers Club,Rolling Loud Man, Which one of those
have been your most memorable experiences ontour and how has it impact your career?

(09:54):
Man, My most memorable experience wasprobably been from south By Southwest because
that's what all the artists that arethere down to work. Down the network,
you get to see how people movefrom the biggest artist to the smallest
artist. Man. You get tosee so much creativity with the marketing and
everything like that. UM. Downis definitely one that that kind of changed,

(10:18):
you know. But when I goback home, I'm I need to
need to work on this, SoI need to do this. I could
do better here, you know,Yes, sir? All right? Man?
Man, that's that's super incredible man, and my hat go off to
you. As an independent artist. What have been some of the biggest challenges
that you faced, especially as areason with the new technology implements, with

(10:43):
just a lot that's going on withthe rules and regulations with copyright and music
industry laws and rules. Um honestly, man, it's like I just kind
of stay focused to it. Yeah, I'm on top of everything. But
you can't let that really distract you. You gotta keep feeding the people's music,

(11:07):
right because at the end of theday, that's what really matters.
That's really it's gonna take. Asfar as that connection with the people.
I'm totally independent everything, Um soyou know, I don't know, nothing
really controls me. Like all myI set up everything myself, I run
everything, so he really doesn't affectme for sure. Man, do you

(11:33):
feel like you have to pull anticsto sell a record? Um, I'm
not. I'm not saying that YoungBoy NBA Young Boys is doing that,
but ironically albums about to drop. But do you feel like in today's music
industry, man, with all theshenaniks that do go on just to sell
a record, is it absolutely necessaryto do that just to get the eyes

(11:56):
on you. I mean, Idon't think it's necessary. I don't.
I'm not wanting to antics myself toknow, but I know that it does
help. It's a necessary noe whetherit maybe help you get get to where
you're going faster. Yeah, peopleare like driving, man, people are
like you know, so with allthese major artists before they drop of project

(12:20):
or any type of product, there'ssome type of controversy around them being good
or bad because you know, nopresent bad pression. Yeah, I'm gonna
give you a hypothetical. Um,not saying that these people would do that,
but what if you're a management team, You're about to drop the record
of your life? Right? Isthis? This is the record that's gonna

(12:43):
put you on the map officially. But in order to do that, to
go along with attraction and attention, they need you to say something towards Drake,
would you or would you not?No, that's because there's suicide John

(13:07):
with Jake could never wouldn't be worththe man like thank you joke too powerful
for one for one I'm a fan, and two Jake too powerfuls like nah,
it wouldn't make any yeah man.For me, it's the bridges that
are burnt in the process. Forsure. There's always another good to burn

(13:28):
bridges, though not that bridge especiallyexactly for your all right, let's say
let's say it was who's everybody leastfavorite artists right now? Um, the
dude from Young Thugs Camp, Ohgotta who gna? Yeah you know,

(13:54):
dang, I don't wrote him outall bad? Oh man, obviously,
although on all the day situation aroundwe'll shout out the blagg ad gona.
Man, I don't think I cango against your meeting. Well, okay,
I take that. Man, that'sa real situation we can't talk about.
Yeah. Yeah, that's a definitelybad movie. All right, nothing,

(14:20):
you know, I walking solid allwas about positivity, man, about
positivity. I don't want to goagainst nobody. Man, yes, sir,
all right, man, So canyou tell us about the time when
you have face rejection or a failurein your music career and how did you
take it and how do you bounceback from it? Oh? Man,
you're gonna you're gonna get failure inrejection every day as an artist. Like

(14:45):
I could gonna make a song outnow. I don't mean that everybody's gonna
like it. Uh, you justgotta have you know, you gotta have
a tough skin. Um. I'vebeen in label meetings where with meetings went
great. We've been in there andwe went bad. It's just about qu
keep going back. Like I said, you gotta have touch stan whether you
can't take anything too personal as anart So all it's all, it's all

(15:09):
biased, it's all opinion based oneach person. It's all you just gotta
find an edge and walk out.Yes sir, all right, we're about
to play your single, Smoking Strong, and then we'll be back to foot.
I see skywalking our traditional hot seatswhere he can perform for us if
